Stop unhooking survivors and the killers will stop camping.

So, let all the survivors get one hooked then? How about no. And camping doesn't mean in your face. It means staying REALLY close, heartbeat close, so they can tunnel you when you get unhooked. Its stupid, it ruins the survivor experience, and it destroys immersion. Killer mains will always cry about something, thats just who they are, but intentionally camping like that needs mega severe consequences.

Stop rewarding camping if you know it's happening. Camping can already have "mega severe consequences", if you're willing to stop trying to ignore the Killer and start thinking about how to counter them.

    A Killer who can't Kill isn't a Killer.

It's amazing that this even needs to be said. It's like saying that dry objects aren't wet.

  • @The_Crusader said:
I personally don't rescue when the killer is stood right there, others do.

End of the day it is a videogame, try to have fun with chases rather than sitting around a hook.

Oh and stop trying to shift the blame. The killer causes the situation by refusing to move. Its a tactic bad players use because they cant catch survivors.

The Survivor causes the situation by rewarding the bad tactic, turning it into a useful tactic. Stop trying to shift the blame.

I swear, only Survivor mains could blame hook farming on the Killer instead of their greedy, vulturous teammates.

  • @The_Crusader said:
Can survivors have a copy of the killer rulebook too? I mean I think we know most of them...

    1) Don't loop, stand still and take a hit instead
    2) Don't pallet stun, take a hit instead
    3) Don't unhook, it's rude after the killer went to all the effort of hooking that survivor
    4) Don't do gens
    5) Don't cleanse totems
    6) Don't bodyblock to stop a teammate from being hooked
    7) Don't go for the hatch, just face the killer and take your death like a man
    8) NO FLASHLIGHTS!
    9) Don't use any perks other than ones like Left Behind

    Did I forget any?

OP asked for the Survivor rules for the Killer; not the rules Survivors made up by themselves and pretend were made by Killers.

  • @The_Crusader said:
    They're ignoring the main point.

The survivor waits but the killer won't leave. The person on the hook is seconds way from going into the struggle stage so the survivor unhooks anyway as there is nothing to lose.

Somehow it's the survivors fault for making risky unhooks....even thought they wait and the killer has no intention of leaving.

The killer causes this situation by patrolling around tethered to the hook for the full 2 minutes. Then try to blame it on survivors LOL

You could also... y'know, not rescue. Just because you want to do something doesn't mean you should be able to, especially when the guy you're supposed to fear is right there. You're playing the weaker role. Act like it.

  • @towhead said:
i always go after the unhooker and leave the victim of their teammate on the ground.

Good for you. Some people would rather play efficiently instead of purposefully handicapping themselves.

  • @towhead said:
    "playing well".  lol.

The Killer isn't the one getting his teammates killed. He's simply capitalizing on bad plays made by the other team. That's playing well.

  • @towhead said:
true but this does not negate your role.  nice try though

I'm not trying to do anything. I'm succeeding at explaining that it's not the Killer's fault if Survivors decide to farm each other, and it's not on the Killer to make it right. Survivor mains need to get their ######### together instead of blaming the guy who's actually playing well.

  • @towhead said:
just because a survivor farms another off a hook in front of a killer, it doesn't mean the killer must capitalize on the event.  unless of course, they are desperate.

It also doesn't mean they have to play inefficiently/stupidly and go after the harder target. Unless, of course, they're a Killvivor.

  • It's just the spam filter getting a bit twitchy. It's a WIP.

  • @Carpemortum said:

If you play Killer, you will get messages like that, eventually. It's only a matter of time.

It has EVERYTHING to do with it.

If the killer wants to catch the survivor, they will cstch them. It's only a matter of time - outside of maybe a rank 1 survivor going against a rank 15 killer.

So the game gived you the advantage to catch them, then you sit there and say "right pal, the game is over for you. You can sit there for 2 minutes until you're dead".

If they got spotted early enough then chances are they didn't even get to do anything in the game beyond touched a gen for 10 seconds.

That person is willing to play the game with you. They're allowing you to take the power role over them and in return you're turning around and screwing them over. They get no points and depip because you wouldn't give them a chance.

No it's not fair. Always seems to be the same people defending it too.

If you don't have anything to say that is relevant to this thread, you can start your own. This thread is about whether or not camping is fair. The difficulty in catching a Survivor has nothing to do with it.

They won't add dedicated servers cause ita too hard and expensive... Excuse me but how a game with 2 years old can't have dedicated servers and deathgarden can??

Because one was made with dedicated servers in mind and the other one wasn't. This is like replacing a human being's entire nervous system after they're fully grown. It's complicated.

  • @The_Crusader said:
Well your idea of them having DS makes no sense and is only used as an attempt.to justify your argument. People get camped regardless of whether they have DS or not so that part should be disregarded.

DS was put there to guarantee that the Survivor succeeded at something (namely, a skill check). The argument is the same with or without it.

    @The_Crusader said:
As others have said LOL at the idea that catching a survivor is hard. You can attack. They can not. You move at 4.6m per second. They only move at 4m per second.

The entire game is made so that the killer is able to catch the survivor.

You seem dead impressed with yourself for it though. Do you want a medal?

  • @artist said:
it helps the spirit because it causes confusion to the survivor. you dont know if they're doubling black or continuing the same way making you either hesitate or continue the same way, one or the other might cause you to get hit (again, passive phasing is not controlled by the player, the game messes with you, not the player). and what do hook bubbles have to do with this? i never ended up dying because the game tells me som1 has been hooked.

Just keep running. Chances are slim that they're turning around at the exact moment that a random and passive effect activated.
If you've never been caught because you can't see the Killer thanks to the hook bubble, you should play the lottery. That thing is more of a hindrance than anything.

  • @artist said:
yes. and it can still help them whether they know it or not. there is no "mindgame" just a dumb visual effect for spirit that requires 0 effort for it to help the spirit

How can it help the Spirit if they don't know it's happening? It's just a visual effect, like you said. You can adjust to it, like you adjust to hook bubbles.

  • @artist said:
passive phasing is the only thing I have a problem with.  it requires nothing from the player and can get you to mess up a loop. outskilled by the game and not by the actual player

If you'd played Rin you'd know that the player has no idea when it's happening or will happen. It's random and the player has no notification of it.

  • @Peanits @MandyTalk Can you guys help me out with the people veering wildly off-topic?

One of the scenarios where I could see camping as unfair would be: Players have continuous revives, and respawn at a specific designated point. This point is then camped and utilized by the killer to keep you off the field entirely. (although....now that I ponder this....you do have 3 other players hanging around....objectives could still get done.) Failed Scenario. (although, could be grounds for abuse...)

ok....so that didn't work....let's try....painting the previous scenario that orion thought out earlier:

"Well, when the Killer did absolutely nothing right, the Survivor did absolutely nothing wrong, and yet the Survivor ends up on the hook anyway by the will of the Entity....." ~Orion

-Survivors are super stealthy....but manage to take damage by the environment/non-killer specific traps/other survivors.

-Survivors may get in a chase with the killer, but manage to lose them....and then get damaged by the environment again in some way. They are downed, and easily found with a hypothetical deerstalker or good eyes.

-The survivor is then camped to secure the kill.

This scenario seems more unfair....but unsure....what do you think orion?

Indeed, that would be unfair, assuming the traps and environment are unavoidable.

  • @MisterCremaster said:
Out of curiosity, are these "Camping" threads all so common because of the after game chat toxicity on PC? Because, and I'm not trying to sound cynical, but I don't get what the big deal is. I asked about these silly "rules of etiquette" on here, and the consensus was "play how you want." So, is it just because killers are tired of taking textual abuse after games? (PS4 player here, and rarely get post-game messages at all)

Don't confuse fear with annoyance. Killers keep trying a million different ways to come together with Survivors, from explaining why camping is on the hook vultures and not on Killers, to making endless guides about counters to things that annoy Survivors (and note that this is against the Killers' best interests), but Survivors just try to whine and bully into having everything done their way.

  • Then those people are dumb and need to think about their actions for more than the 2 seconds it takes to make them.

  • @Boss said:

It doesn't matter how well any Survivor plays. If I want to catch someone, I will catch them. Imagine thinking catching a Survivor in 2018 is actually hard. I'm not even that great of a Killer, I am actually quite mediocre.

I don't even care about camping, I actually expect it. I am more surprised when someone actually leaves the hook completely. That's where DBD is in 2018.

This is not about difficulty. The Killer did everything right, the Survivor did not. The Killer succeeded multiple times, the Survivor did not. Therefore, it's fair that the Survivor gets punished and the Killer does not.

  • @Master said:

Im done with you. You just pass the blame to excuse lame behaviour like all thr other salty killer mains here who beg for buffs every day

If you die to a camper, yes, that is 100% on you. Either you ######### up and wound up on the hook, or you ######### up by not rushing gens and getting the hatch. Either way, you made mistakes.

  • @The_Crusader said:
So its fair to thr first guy caught that hes getting camped out of the game? Shows you dont play survivor.

Also its hard to counter it solo when your teammates sit around the hook. Theres literally nothing I can do to make them play better. I can only control my own actions.

So its best to play SWF becausr you can agree to ignore a camping killer....but then people like you and wolf etc run to the forums screeching about how SWF needs to be removed from the game.

You killers mains want to have your cake and eat it too. Dont want SWF but also hold solo survivors accountable for the actions of their team and whennthey complain yoi just tell them "deal with it"

Yes, it is fair. The Killer had to find a Survivor, win the chase, then deal with any potential bodyblockers, flashlights, etc., just to get them on the hook. At that point, the Killer has every right to capitalize on his catch. Shows you don't play Killer.

It's easy to counter it solo. Repair gens, find hatch, leave. If you're the one on the hook, find out what you did wrong (yes, because you are the one who made mistakes, or else you wouldn't have lost) and learn from it so that you can play better.

Yes, playing SWF is easier than playing solo. Practically having wallhacks and a semi-hive mind is always easier than playing by yourself. Very few people say SWF needs to be removed; most just say that they need nerfs to compensate for the obvious advantage of being omniscient.

Again, I'm not a Killer main. If you intend to talk to a Killer main, you're quoting the wrong person. Try reading our names, maybe you won't be confused that way. I am Orion.

  • @The_Crusader said:
Yes but you moan about one thing and people say "bring this and this" and then you moan about another and they tell you to bring this and this etc etc

Surely you've had it done to you. Its not helpful.

That's because you're looking to perks or nerfs to solve everything you can't counter. Sometimes, you're just going to have to play better. The vast majority of Killer perks and tactics have hard gameplay counters.

  • @The_Crusader said:
Because the killer wont leave. So the survivors wait until the first stage is almost up then think "ah screw it" and run in anyway.

Yeah the survivors would be better off gen rushing but the killers are starting the problems by refusing to leave the hook.

Besides its pretty crappy to ask survivors to just let that person die and not trg to help them. Plus some get fed up and suicide on hook or D/C which leaves the killer free to camp the next guy.

Why do people always try to push this on survivors? Some rush hooks and yes thats their fault but sometimes they wait and wait and the killer never leaves.

The Killer doesn't have to allow for unhooks. You don't have to go save anyone. It's pretty crappy to demand Killers give free unhooks.

Nobody pushes anything on Survivors; it is on Survivors. The Killer made their move, it's up to you to counter it. If you use a tactic that the Killer is already countering (reckless unhooks), it's your fault that it fails.

  • @Vietfox said:
That's actually the point of builds. Builds are meant to counter stuff that makes you struggle the most, no one is suposed to be able to counter everything.
Create a build around your main weaknesses and/or necessities and use the skills to counter the rest.

^So much this. And unlike Killer perks, the vast majority of Survivor perks have no hard counters.

  • Using Steam's built-in browser while waiting for Survivors to ready up before the timer does it for them. I don't know why they choose to prolong their queue times.

  • @The_Crusader said:
Why do you salty killer mains always rush to try and call people #########?

If the random people I get put with unhook anyway for the points cus of the stupid benevolence system and let each other get tunneled faster then what does that have to do with me? I can't stop that.

I manage to get the hatch many times against the spirit. But sat holding M1 while they circle the hook and then having them force a 10 minute hatch stand off isn't fun at all.

It has nothing to do with not being able to beat them you toxic person, its the fact that its as dull as watching paint dry. Why dont they try getting good? Spirit can be hard to use fsir enough, so a lot just dont use her power to chase they simply use it to camp the hook instead. Its sad.

I didn't call you anything and I'm not a Killer main, so clearly you're thinking of someone else.

So a Survivor decides to farm you for points, but the Killer is the one at fault? Walk me through your thought process.
If you're not having fun with this game, you should switch to something else. I hear Civilization is good.

Nah he's right. Once you're on the hook against a Spirit it's game over.

They walk away a bit then phase walk back hooing tk catch someone unhooking you. If nobody is there they just repeat it over and over again until someone does unhook you, then they down you before you have a chance to get away and rehook you.

If you're not the one being camped have fun doing gens solo while the other two survivors run in, get hit, run away, heal, run in, get hit, run away, heal - and repeat. Though in some cases they do manage to unhook at which point the killer puts them right back on the hook and gets to skip the timer.

They are really boring and unfun games.

So they do the same exact thing every time, and yet you can't beat them?

Nono... the killer should just get FORCED to play different... and ofc give free unhooks, because the reward is so high that survivor deserve it without any risk.
    Makes no sense...? Nevermind!^^

    survivorlogic

Well, it's difficult to counter a counterable strategy that's performed every time. Makes people completely unpredictable when they do the same exact thing every time without deviation, you know. It's like following a recipe: you never know if you're really going to make a cake, or if you're gonna make a thermonuclear bomb. It's anyone's guess until it comes out of the oven.
