This is no different from the Fine Bros. controversy. It came back to bite him in the ass, so he's entered "damage control" mode. This apology is insincere.

Banning people for abusing bugs is low. Devs should feel ashamed and be sorry for creating them in the first place.
They didn't perma ban him for it tho and he was a fool to keep doing it until they did.
What culture of toxicity are you talking about? I'm nowhere near being his big fan but thinking that people are toxic coz of one streamer is naive. Especially given the definition of "toxic" in this game.
Just because there's a flaw in a bank's security system doesn't mean it's OK for you to steal money from them. Banning for exploiting is fair and reasonable.

I watched the movies today. This scene came up literally minutes after this thread was posted.

It wouldn't be the first time someone has done an expensive an elaborate April fools joke though.
"Elaborate" isn't the same as "expensive", though. They paid for a license, paid the original VA, and paid their staff to create the character model. Even if it started as an April Fools joke, it'd probably be more worthwhile for them to just go all the way.
-
They got Bruce Campbell to shoot a promo video. If it's a joke, it's a pretty expensive one.

You do know that women can like boobs too, right?
Yes. I'm just pointing out that if it were a heteronormative game, it'd include both hot men and women. Ironically, making it virtually indistinguishable from a non-heteronormative game, which would also feature both hot men and women.

@ShirtlessDwight said:
It's a heteronormative world. I'm honestly surprised they don't try to bait people with more boobs to spend money.
You do know that women play this game too, right?

This wouldn't change anything. The problem is that survivors can easily have three generators repaired by the time you hook one, unless you're playing an insta-down killer, primarily due to looping.

I'm LGBT.
Pretty sure there are more "out" LGBT online than offline, since people can't punch you through your monitor or try to kill you online. That's why you may notice us more.

No, I don't think predictable jokes are funny.
-
I didn't fall for it. It's April Fools, everyone's opening bait threads because they think it's funny.

The issue is voice comms which, while not forbidden (for obvious reasons), completely shatter the balance of the game.

She's fine how she is right now. I'd just say give her 115% movement speed while holding Vile and 110% while holding Corrupt. Most survivors don't want to be injured with a 115% movement speed killer with Enduring and Spirit Fury. I personally think she's around mid-high tier when played correctly.
That seems fair, since Vile Purge is, at best, a delayed M1, while Corrupted Purge makes her a worse Huntress.

Yes, because nobody would take it out of context to manufacture controversy. /s

Any perk can be a crutch, depending on your definition. Personally, seeing as how survivors have the most second-chance perks, well...

As much as I love your comment, I'm fairly confident that that's the definition of by comparison XD
(Quote appears to be broken)
Both situations are #########. Just because one is better than the other doesn't make it good by comparison. At best, you can say it's not as bad as the other.

Thats when the game was actually broken to play Killer. It’s become quite spoon fed now in comparison.
Just because I went from kicking you in the balls three times a day to twice a day doesn't mean your situation is now good by comparison.

Good to hear that the chat log is sent along with the report. Maybe it's an idea to make that more clear, because I think many insulters think that the chats are ephemereal.
Last year I wrote down every insult I got in chat. After three days, I got two pages of vitriolic text and stopped recording it. I wish I had submitted a report for every occasion.
You should always report. Worst case, nothing changes, which is also the best case when you don't report. Best case, they get banned, which won't happen if you don't report.

Well that's debatable and a major point of the movie. Characters ask themselves "is he really a killer?" through at least the first film. You can make points either way, and that's the point. What constitutes murder? Jigsaw gave people a way to escape his games albeit after paying some price. This is what the third film kinda emphasizes too. Jigsaw is portrayed as a teacher or a savoir almost. Contrasted against Amanda, who is objectively definitely a murderer. It's meant to make you question these things.
Like even if you say Jigsaw is a murderer because he set up the situations that led to a person's death, then you can apply that to other characters in the film. Like Tapp from the first film, you could argue the same point that he was responsible for his partner's death and his own by breaking protocol and then going rogue to find Jigsaw himself. Had he followed the correct procedures when they learned of Jigsaw's hideout, or had he just given up looking for Jigsaw after his partner died, then those deaths would have been avoided.
People died as a direct result of his traps. That's murder in any civilized country.

Actually Jigsaw was the one trying to teach a lesson; that you should cherish your life and appreciate being alive. Amanda diverged from that by NOT teaching lessons and just using it as a way to kill people that hurt her in the past.
Jigsaw is a teacher. Amanda is a murderer.
They're both killers. Just because Jigsaw didn't pull the triggers himself or whatever doesn't exonerate him.

Either way, these "counters" don't really do anything to stop the perk from activating or even mitigate its effect. The only one that can really be called a counter is the Hillbilly's chainsaw.
And yeah, you can get them with shards. So what? It'll still take an absurd number of BP before you get enough perks and add-ons to the point where they'll actually be of any use to you.
-
Paid DLC, paid DLC, paid DLC, free killer, free perk, UR add-on of a free killer, UR add-on of a paid killer, absurdly difficult to pull off, and UR offering.
So all in all, taking away the paid content we get:
The Hillbilly's chainsaw (which is easy to avoid), a perk (which can be disabled before you get any chance to use it, and also doesn't actually work, IIRC), a single-use add-on that you'd have to run every trial just in case (since you can't know which survivors are running which perks), something that's almost impossible to pull off, and an offering you'd also have to burn every single trial just in case.
Yeah, perfect counters right there.

Moonwalking exploit is a thing, so definitely nay.

"We" do?
I'm sure all clinics in well-educated countries know how and when to use it but there are also other parts on earth with lower standards and no one to control their doings.
"We" as in humans. I'm not a doctor, but I have looked into the subject myself out of curiosity.
Well, yeah, third-world countries are obviously different, but that's like extrapolating from the Sahara that the Earth is devoid of water.

Evil dead series are low tier terror saga, that's why I think it's license was cheap
Let's be honest, most horror movies from the 80s were B-grade at best.

Nope. As much as I love Bruce Campbell, I have no connection to Ash. I knew Bruce as Sam Axe from Burn Notice before I even knew he was in Evil Dead.

To me, Doctor is the sickest Killer. Imagine having your brain roasted on a regular base until you go insane.
And that's a realistic scenario, probably still happens to "patients" at this moment since electroconvulsive therapy is still a thing in some countries.
ECT nowadays is not the barbaric practice that it once was. It's only used as a last resort and we understand how to do it properly. It has its benefits.

@TAG said:
Far as I can tell, Doctor was just a dude who became more and more obsessed with torturing people until he went crazy and started going to town on the entire facility.
As for Pig, if my research is accurate (since I have zero interest in watching any Saw movies), she was an apprentice of Jigsaw who eventually decided that she knew better than Jigsaw and started using the games as just executions than as ways to teach victims a lesson, which prompted Jigsaw to test her once more and resulted in her death (obviously retconned to have her be taken in by the Entity).
Herman was always a little crazy, IMO.

First, only if they get Sigourney Weaver to voice one of the most badass characters in all of fiction (Ripley) to use for the survivor. Other than that, I think running on walls and pouncing on survivors would be good enough.

I don't mind moderators having a sense of humor, as long as they make it obvious to me and everyone else that they are.
About the ban joke, I would be fine with that as long as they made it obvious that it's just a April fool's prank. It would be a good prank to pull of, especially since I cannot make anymore mistakes or else I'll get a 1 month ban.
Everyone says that until moderators actually show they have a sense of humor. Then most people get pissy. Even if you don't, you're outnumbered, believe me.

As long as the threads don't get out of hand, I've got no issue with it - once people start insulting others under the guise of April Fools, then I'll shut it down.
😍
As someone who's been a mod on many websites before, trust me, you don't get to have a sense of humor. People will lose their ######### and call it "unprofessional", if not outright abuse of power.

So they should just remove the perk so you'll stop complaining about it then right and you also never ever run said garbage perk ever.
The issue with all you complainers is you want something to do all the work for you and that's not how it's supposed to work. It's there to help you not hold your hand and let you sit back and drink Martini's at the Entity's bar.
Thanatophobia doesn't help. That's the problem. The time you put into getting the most out of it is also the time you gain by getting the most out of it. This, in essence, makes it a pointless perk to use.

I can see how it helps more than not using it then complaining on forums about how it's impossible to fight that.
Really? Because even under the assumption that it takes 15 seconds to get a hit and disregarding travel time, the best you can hope for is that when all survivors are injured, you're breaking even in terms of time invested and time gained.
In reality, all four survivors will not be injured simultaneously unless you slug (and slugging got nerfed multiple times), and even if by some miracle you do get them injured simultaneously, you just wasted a full minute (minimum) to get back one minute.
Tell me, when was the last time you took a survivor perk that shaved off 3 seconds from a generator and required five times as much time to activate? Never, because that's ######### worthless.
-
@powerbats said:

So speaking a factual truth is being disingenuous because you can't refute it, yeah now who's being trollish.
You have perks that can help you, if you don't run them you shouldn't complain about dealing with the consequences of your choices.
It's like a survivor complaining about something and you telling them to run x perk but the effect is barely noticeable.
Thanatophobia 3 with the 16% debuff gives you 15 additional seconds of repair time and 3 additional seconds of healing time (with Self-Care it's 6). Assuming a single hit takes 15 seconds, this means that for every minute you spend injuring survivors, you get an additional 15 seconds of repair time (assuming they stay injured). Can you see how Thanatophobia might be completely worthless as a perk to slow down generators? Or anything, really?

No, I'm not following all the rules IRL either, but I also don't complain when I get punished for it. If you'd rather be banned, why are you complaining about it actually (potentially) happening?
PS: You can be nice and honest. Honesty has nothing to do with being an #########.

No but giving the excuse that a killers connection is unstable won't be the problem. The problem will move to whether BHVR's servers are stable now. It's not going to make everyone have sub 30 ping of course.
Again, that's still not how ping works. Ping primarily has to do with the physical distance between the two connection points (in the case of dedicated servers, the user and the server). Dedicated servers don't bypass the laws of physics to allow for information to travel faster than the speed of light. Your ping may still be high, depending on the location of the nearest server.
-
@Dustin said:
Make it so once all 5 players are in a lobby leaving counts as a disconnect. No other solution will be an equal compromise. Once dedicated servers are here ping will no longer be an excuse anyways.
The only thing in the lobby that should be hidden are names. Absolutely no reason for anyone to see names or steam profiles. Not even post game.
Dedicated servers don't magically make ping disappear. That's not how ping works.
-
Make Franklin's Demise a base ability and change the perk so it only damages items instead, and we have ourselves a deal.
-
Adrenaline IRL would actually make you sicker, since it'd just spread the disease more and more.

You forget the survivors have an animation that plays before they can move which is also counted into the stun time; reducing the time you have further.
And how long is that animation?
-
75% increased recovery is not the same as 25% stun time. When will people get this? Enduring makes the stun last roughly 1,7 seconds (not even a 50% reduction).
