I hate this whole “if you don’t wanna get camped then don’t get hooked” mentality that some people seem to have. Have you PLAYED this game? Sometimes you get downed because the game screws you over. Vaults that can’t be vaulted, ridiculous hit boxes, downed from the other side of a pallet, teleporting back towards the killer etc. Stop assuming that people get hooked because they made a mistake, it isn’t always that simple and you should know that if you’ve ever played survivor before.
Yes, bugs are things that exist in the game, but here's the kicker: killers have to deal with bugs as well. On that front, both sides suffer from bugs. What about ghost hits, failed grabs that shouldn't fail, and a bunch of other crap? Should we start giving all killers insta-downs to compensate? Or should we just not balance around bugs?

@AshleyWB said:
Surely being hooked is punishment enough for making a bad decision as survivor.
If I was to say every time you get pallet stunned a gen is done, that would also be punishment for killer failing. Both ideas of punishment for mistakes is massively blown out of proportion and are illogical.
Being hooked wouldn't be punishment enough if you were to get a reward for it.
The problem with your comparison, other than the fact that it's easy to get a stun when the killer can't even see you 100% of the time due to being in first person, is that a pallet stun is something you do that is beneficial to the survivors. Camping is something the killer does that is also beneficial to the survivors, as long as they don't feed.
-
@AshleyWB said:
If I'm face camped I want some of the objective points earnt from teammates while I was hooked in the form of distraction points.
The scoring completely ignores hook defence for the killer. If killer was given +30bp per second if they have a hookd survivor 20m+ away.
I might be persuaded to agree with this if it only applied during the struggle phase (since it's really the only time when you're actively doing something) and under the same conditions as the chaser emblem penalty (i.e.: killer near the hook with nobody else around and not engaged in a chase).
-
Why should the survivor be rewarded for failure?

What games are you playing where you're getting looped indefinitely?
It's a practical "indefinitely", in the sense that a survivor can loop the killer until all generators have been repaired and the exits have been opened. Like DS, MoM just makes the problem worse by providing people who don't need free escapes with even more free escapes.
-
If you were banned, there would be an in-game message saying just that. What's the problem, exactly?

Of course I know people are frustrated. I never said I don't but every time something like this comes out there's always a knee-jerk reaction where killers/survivors spam the forums only spouting nonsense about how the new addition is biased.
Mettle of Man will prevent you from getting hit
However, even if you heal to 99% you have to heal eventually. Once that happens you are never escaping the killer until you get hooked again.
If anything they should change it so it only affects a certain type of attack; why not make it only count on lunges? That way m1 killers have counterplay that doesn't require much to do.
Instead of using this forum to suggest changes all I've seen are complaints. Until I see legitimate ideas for changes that aren't coated in a seething rage, I will continue to say they're over-exaggerating
Survivors already loop indefinitely with no intention of actually winning the chase and consider it a good and skilled way to play. So that "drawback" that you and others like you cling to desperately like it's a big deal? It won't make any difference.

That is pretty much why this perk exists in it's current form. It's like buying insurance against dumb team members.
By punishing the killer instead of the dumb teammate. For a fair perk, it should be like BT, except it injures the idiot who unhooked you.

So you're telling me there should be no safe areas whatsoever?
Also, if that is so absurd, than why chase them through it?
Yes, I am. If the killer is near you, you shouldn't feel safe. That's the basis of a horror game.
Because chasing is the only real way to deal with it. If you leave the area, a few things can happen:
- The survivor realizes they have an area that lets them escape for free, and will thus run for the same structure every single time they're being chased.
- Other survivors see what went on and realize they have an area that lets them escape for free, and will thus run for the same structure every time they're being chased.
- Other survivors will loop the same structure, just because they know how much of a time waster it is. They will then realize that they have an area that lets them escape for free, and will thus run for the same structure every single time they're being chased.
None of these scenarios are beneficial to the killer. All they do is give survivors free escapes.
-
Because having safe areas for survivors is absurd given the asymmetrical nature of the game.
-
It's interesting, that's for sure.
-
Taking a deep breath is what actually relaxes you. The finger is a placebo.

If you played any monster and stood your ground alone then that monster player was doodoo, plain and simple. Outside of being the last hunter left in Arena, where you’re specifically buffed so that you CAN do massive damage to monsters, you stand no chance going 1v1. As it should be in a 4v1 in basically every asymmetrical game outside of DbD :)
Nope, monster player was good (though not top-tier). However, note that it was "indefinite" in the sense that I had more than enough time to wait for reinforcements. After his nerf, it was a coin flip as to whether I could withstand the assault long enough to get reinforcements or not. The only exception was a friend of mine, who was a god-tier Behemoth with god-tier perks.

It is easier in some areas.
But playing survivor is much easier and SWF is a cake walk. This is an asymmetrical competitive MP game. The 4 side of the equation should have to work together optimally to stand a chance against the 1. But in this game the 4 side has such strong perks and game design they can literally stave off the killer for most of or an entire match thanks to super strong loops and the perks.
Idk if anyone ever played Evolve but imagine if the Medic in Evolve could go toe to toe with a monster and survive LOL.
Killers need more time to stand a chance at high level. Adding perks that decrease the time they have to work with is the exact opposite of what the devs should be doing.
I have played Evolve, and Paladin Parnell could do just that with a stage 2 monster (and I did it, many times), prior to his nerf. After his nerf, he could still do it, but not indefinitely. No wonder that game died.
-
Having watched the movies and the series, it's accurate to his character. He treats every situation with levity.

Solution: not SWF by default, if mark SWF checkbox earn +25% BPs
You could make it +25% per SWF member (so +50% by default, up to +100%) with +200% if it was a 4-man SWF and it still wouldn't make a difference. You can't bribe people into not having fun while playing games. This isn't a job; killers aren't getting paid for babysitting.

Bye! I'd recommend the game Deceit if you are looking for something else.
Similar setup (2 infected vs 4 innocents, innocents are trying to escape alive and win individually, 2 infected are trying to kill the 4 innocents first and win together) but the infected look like innocents and the innocents have guns to fight back. It totally nails the horror feeling and is pretty intense.
Just picture this. It's dark and you can hardly see anything. You hear someone screaming about an infected attacking him and before he can say who he was with he goes silent. Then your buddy says to follow and runs off, you go there and he trails behind slightly after establishing the direction. Suddenly you hear a roar and see who you thought was a friend turning into a monster. You start shooting but it screams throwing off your aim before running in to bite your face off. The 2 remaining innocents power the doors to the next area, but at this point it's too late and the infected open fire in human form to finish off the survivors.
That's not how Deceit usually goes, at all. Usually you just get shot at as an innocent.

Depends on how stupidly the survivors are playing. If they're playing very stupidly and unhook in my face, I get punished for playing efficiently by getting hit with DS. I don't keep track of the number, though.

But how can the killer be better than the survivor at chases?
For a killer, the way to win a chase is to hit them twice. For a survivor, the way to win a chase is to not be hit twice.
If it takes 10 years for the killer to reach his goal, then how in the world can you say he is better than the survivor? The survivor doesn't have a goal to reach, they just have to last as long as they can against the killer.
If they managed to last 10 years against the killer, then how can you say they are not exponentially better than them?
If I loop you for 10 years right now in KYF match, nobody would say you are better at chases than me. I've seen stupid killer and survivor mains before, but this level of Killer extremism is scary.
If the survivor's goal is not to win the chase, then this discussion is pointless. You could just as easily say that the killer's goal isn't to win the chase either.

Okay let me reverse the question to expose your clear bias.
If it takes 10 years for a killer to catch a survivor who is looping him, but at the end of 10 literal years of looping, the killer downs the survivor, is the killer good at winning chases?
No, but the killer is better at winning chases than the survivor who lost the chase, by definition.

I've ignored it because my original question didn't include it.
If I loop you for 5 ENTIRE GENS then I get knocked down, am I bad or you?
Your question is unspecific. Bad at what? Bad at eating corn chips? Bad at breaking wooden boards with a single punch? Bad at basketball? Even just taking into account aspects of DbD, the game is more than just looping, believe it or not, so "bad" doesn't really say much. That's why I specified what is demonstrably true that you're bad at - winning the chase.

Sorry, just to verify this because I can't believe what I am seeing.
If I was to end up in your lobby, and I manage to loop you for 5 gens then go down at the end, am I the bad player?
Or you?
Why are you pretending you didn't read the "at winning the chase" bit? Do you think it makes your argument stronger or even valid if you pretend I didn't specify which part you're bad at?

How do I win a chase if the killer never leaves the hook? How do I win a chase if the killer is only ever chasing me? In the 5 gens I run the killer around and only make a mistake twice, am I the bad player or the killer?
Winning the chase means actually escaping the killer. If you're on the hook, you already lost. If you're being chased for that long, then you're bad at winning chases. Survivors have a ######### ton of leeway in chases. It takes two mistakes for you to go down. A single mistake by the killer can pile on so much chase time that he loses.

Tunneling is a choice of playstyle - DS punishes tunneling.
Gen rushing is a problem of mechanics because there is literally nothing else to ######### do as a survivor. I'm not going to wait around and have a picnic in the killer shack while I wait for you. Gen rushing is a problem, yes, so we need another objective. Tunneling is just a tactic players use to secure a kill, which can now be countered.
People who complain about tunneling are just bad. They should learn how to win chases and stealth better.
-
@Sharmarko said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/398915#Comment_398915
Its not invulnerability because you can still pick up and hook people.
It only activates after you tunnel, so if you hate DS so much because you go against it so many times, then chances are you wouldn't get any kills anyway as a tunneler.
It's invulnerability when you're, in practice, saying that killers should just do nothing to unhooked survivors for a full minute.

And going after gens with more than 1 person is playing smart :/
Tunneling and gen rushing are excused for survivors and killers to play cheap. They both need to go. No if ands or buts.
I didn't say it wasn't playing smart. I'm pointing out the hypocrisy in pretending that tunneling survivors is reprehensible, while happily tunneling away generators.

Going after the easier target is playing smart, no matter how many times you try to shame killers for doing so.
