As a killer perk, offering, or add-on that causes some kind of debuff when you open those empty chests, maybe. As a base mechanic, no.
-
I'm saying it's the reverse, that one person's game won't load, despite still being open, and it's only when they close it that everything is fixed.

well, dedicated servers are in early build, hopefully the final build will finally fix the issue
All dedicated servers are going to do when it comes to ping is give latency advantage to the player(s) who live closest to the server. No more, no less.

Exactly you dont even know his power i guess
Exactly what? That you're wrong about me being a killer main, or that you're wrong about me not knowing how the Doctor works?

nope. even perkless add-onless nurse can get easy 4ks
Against potatoes, sure. So can every other killer.
Against survivors who know what they're doing, not so much.

Perhaps you dont know how doc plays then. No point to argue with biased killer mains
Not a killer main, and I happen to play Doctor from time to time, but please, do tell.

So i should run calm spirit in case of doc? Then basically every killer denies one survivors perk right?
Calm Spirit has other uses, in case you didn't know. But yes, if you don't have the skill to counter the Doctor without perks, Calm Spirit is there for you.
Balance-wise, I'd say it's better for survivors to have to run one or more perks to help them counter certain killers than to have entire killers be countered by one perk. You can run multiple perks every trial. The killer player can only play one killer per trial.
-
I think you're getting cause and effect backwards. I think one player's game hangs, resulting in the infinite loading screen. Once they close their game (which you then see as a disconnect during the loading screen), that's when the game actually loads.
-

So buff those killers. Doc negates every stealth perk. Juking is part of a game so if he decides to chase you he will get you no matter what you cant juke him
Yeah, buff those killers. That's gonna happen.
Calm Spirit, have you heard of it? Or just skill, really. People stealth the Doctor all the time.

He cant counter MoM but what s wrong about it? When some killers like for example Doc negates plenty of perks.
Which perks does the Doctor negate, exactly, and how is that comparable to a single perk essentially shutting down entire killers that are already weak?
-
@Slayer said:

the fact that it has counters
Viable counters, not so much.

5% of health restored over 20 seconds. After the 20 seconds you will be fully healed.
That's 5% per second for 20 seconds.
5% over 20 seconds means that after 20 seconds you heal 5%.

@Slayer said:

Killers have advanced attack thats a counter. Mettle of man may never get to be used . You basically negate that perk in that case.
What you should do in that case? Dodge the lobby. Find solo to play against.
MoM is only countered by killer powers that inflict damage or otherwise hold down survivors. So that's, what, five killers in total, half of which aren't viable against non-potatoes?

Just for clarification but sadly, @Gay Myers (Luzi) haven't PM'd me back yet.
However to actually answer your question, they have a promote button there for a reason: It's to tag certain forum users who are models for the community. I certainly for one can say that you're a model for our community because I known you ever since the beta forums.
Off-Topic: Tag me with an @ if you're going to respond to me. The forum doesn't notify you whenever someone quotes you.
@NMCKE Thank you for the vote of confidence.
I know quoting doesn't tag, but I'm lazy. Sue me.

@NoShinyPony If I get jailed, if conjugal visits are allowed, and if someone claims to be my husband/wife, then yes.

@Orion Then you could always reply with "it's such a nice weather today" or ask people for their favourite icecream.
@NoShinyPony And then I'd get a warning, possibly some jail time as well. And there are no conjugal visits in forum jail.

Hmm... at least threads with fake "leaks" should be treated the same way. Close all or close none. It's confusing when some are getting closed while others stay open.
My guess is, the thread was deleted for another reason. The supposed new map leak was presented as being accurate and real. The new leaks are being presented as being potentially fake.

@Orion You could name the ones you wouldn't ban. 😛
@NoShinyPony Which would only work until the people who I actually would ban, assuming I had such users in mind, came here asking if I'd ban them.

The most important thing is the steady ping, if you see a surv/killer with spiking ping, your're going to have problems in the game. Even 300 ping is fine, as long as it is steady.
Too true. In the PTB I played with ping of upwards of 200 ms without any noticeable ping-related issues.

That's correct, it's also mentioned in the DbD Wiki.
I'm just confused why the mods aren't closing these threads if the "leaks" are faked. A couple of days ago, there was a thread with a faked "screenshot" that implied Woodsboro would be the next map. That thread got closed to prevent rumours/misinformation from being spread.
In another thread, another user was wondering why one of these threads was deleted if the leaks are fake. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Killers are designated as "slashers" in the game files, IIRC. This is most likely fake.

right now i have spectrum, thinking about joining xfinity,
That doesn't mean anything to me. I only know ISPs in my own country. You should look up customer reviews or something.
-
Ping does not work that way. Seriously, look up what "ping" is.
If the survivors' ping is too high because they're in an underpopulated region and they don't know what lagswitching is (very common), they will accuse you of lagswitching, and the game will be laggy for them.
It's also possible your ISP is bad. The connection they're providing you is stable enough to browse and download stuff, maybe even play online games, but not stable enough to host.
-
@SunderMun said:
And yet it categorically IS a form of holding the game hostage; to deny that is obscene.
No, it's not. The developers have explained very clearly what "holding the game hostage" means - it means that the game is in a situation where it cannot end unless someone disconnects. Survivors bleed out in 4 minutes, and therefore it is not holding the game hostage.

I had this kind of idea:
- While out of a chase, your movement speed is increased by 20 %
- Your field of view is increased by 10/12.5/15 degrees
Given the moonwalking exploit, the first point is a bad idea.
-
Nope.

The fact that they deleted the last post that was showing this confirms its validity in my mind. Pinhead is definitely the next DLC.
If they delete false information, people assume it to be true because "Why would they try to hide it otherwise?". If they don't delete false information, people still assume it to be true because "Why wouldn't they deny it otherwise?". And if they do deny it, people won't believe them. Can you see why there might be a problem when your conclusion is the same regardless of the evidence?

Because i couldn't have known that someone can be that annoyed by just a laugh.
It's also better to see it than just read it in my opinion.
I put a timestamp there for future viewers.
It's not the laugh, it's the actual voice. I just find it incredibly annoying.
-
What do you mean by "Heals you for 5% of your health progress bar for 20 seconds"? Do you mean that it heals you 5% every second for 20 seconds (thus providing a full heal in 20 seconds), or that it heals 5% over 20 seconds (thus providing a gradual 5% heal)?
-
They're currently only testing server load. No more, no less. The only reason there's hate being thrown around is ignorance.

You can mute videos.
And yes, you'd still know what i'm talking about, it's that obvious.
I know I can mute videos, but I couldn't have known that I'd still understand what you're talking about unless I had prior knowledge of the video, which would create a paradox.
Why didn't you just write what it was, like @johnmwarner?
Also, thanks, johnmwarner.
-
I'd rather have a smaller playerbase that actually plays the game than a large one where only half of the players actually play.
-
@Milo said:
Even tho they seems random from my experience i always get the side i played less on from yesterday.
So lets say i played a lot of survivor - i will get a killer daily. And vice verse
That's called confirmation bias. You will have more killer dailies if you play survivor because you've completed survivor dailies by playing survivor, and vice-versa.
-
@Kaelum said:
They are partially random. The factor that isn't random is whether it is for killer, or survivor. When there are not enough killers playing, the algorithm is biased towards killer rituals, and when there are too many killers, they are biased towards survivor rituals. Other than that, they are completely random.
Do you have any proof of this, like a developer statement, or just a gut feeling?
-
I tried watching the video and couldn't stand that guy's voice for even one second. Can anyone summarize the point?
-
@[Deleted User] said:
First of all, what. Second, if this were a thing, killers will have superpowers and have 500% MS or something.
Are you saying killers are not viable unless every single one of them moves 5 times faster than survivors?
-

only if they left all 4 to bleed out.
However, statistics state that if you slug 4 people, 1 will kobe.
Statistics state that if you slug 4 people, then you slug 4 people. How will one of them self-unhook if they're being slugged? What is even the significance of slugging given that self-unhooks have no relation to anything?

also, from your image link. we can see it's fake, since in dbd, killers are actually called Slashers. at least in internal files. :D
I swear these fake "leaks" get lazier and lazier every time. Do your research, people. Put some effort into it.
-
I wouldn't use them unless you're always turning a profit. Legion is a BP machine thanks to all the survivor DCs. You can literally just load in without add-ons, get 2-3 DCs, finish it up in a minute, and boom, free BP with very little effort.
-
I've never watched Hellraiser, but from what I know, those sound exactly like what I'd expect from it.
-
@Killmaster said:
There is only one scenario that slugging would be bannable and that is if you hold the game hostage by continually downing the last survivor with No Mither and not hooking them, everything else is fair game.
Even in that scenario, the survivor will bleed out, eventually, and they still have the choice NOT to recover and NOT to get up.
-
Slugging is not bannable. Long story short, as long as you're not exploiting, hacking, or sending out death threats, it's not bannable.
-
Yes.
-
As far as I can tell, the devs have created two killer categories.
One is intended to be played by people who play the killer role to actually kill; let's call this category "killers".
The other is intended to be played by people who just want to goof around; let's call this category "non-threats".
Killers are intended to be played just as the name implies - they're efficient death machines. Non-threats are intended to be played to provide the illusion of danger, without any real consequences for the survivors, unless the survivors are complete potatoes.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
as long as it's a peer 2 peer connection. if you lagged. it's because of the host (the killer).
they'll probably add dedicated servers later. once they're added. this problem will be gone
Connections work both ways. Your connection is just as important as the killer's.

The Nurse. She's the only killer that turns the game into one of skill vs. skill. If you're better than the person playing the Nurse, you will survive. If not, you will die. No cheesy quasi-exploits are going to save you; only your skill can.
