Can you be more specific in your comments please. It's really hard to take feedback on board when it's just "this is awful" without any explanation of why it doesn't work.
I have a question about the hook counter.
Can only survivors see the individual hook progress ?

@Mandy said:
@OniWantsYourMacaroni they're a shared resource so on reload you can throw any combination of the 4 of either type

They share the same resource. Reloading gives you four bottles by default of any combination you'd like.
One way you might want to use them, for example, is by throwing an antidote as your approaching the loop, then switching the tonics. That way you get a speed boost from the gas that's too far away for the survivor to run back and get, and then have your usual bottles to slow them down some more.
Interesting,i already imagined that the new bottle type will be some sort of movement increase.
I'm sure it will open up some really fun gameplay possibilities :)
Is it possible to say how long it takes to switch between the bottle types?
-
@Mandy said:
It doesn't just increase the speed of the suvivors, it increases the speed of any player affected by that gas - so for one it's a great way of crossing the map as the Clown, it can also be used skillfully in chases, it can be used to try to bait a survivor to go where you want them to go for example.
Do you have 4 bottles of the tonic AND the antidote or do they share the same resource?

We don't want it triggering on getting downed by an addoned Bear Trap, or going down to Deep Wound, etc. It's better game design if we don't start stacking up a series of exceptions.
But wasn't the aim to make it better so that more people start to use it?
It already had a really low usage and this change made a very situational/weak perk even more situational/weaker.
I would say the better game design would have been to completely rework the perk that wouldn't cause problems in game design.

It's 60 seconds. You should be able to get to a survivor with Nurse in 60 seconds lol
Kinda hard if they start to hide in some random corner of the map though
-
There's no logical explaination behind this change.
It's just another weird balance decision from the devs

The definition of knockout is “to make a person unconscious, typically with a blow to the head”
Chainsaw’s cut people up, they typically don’t really “knock people out”
The blunt force trauma caused by that huge mallet makes perfect sense to render someone unconscious... hence the perk’s name Knockout
I heard that claws, knifes, machetes or katanas usually don't knockout people either :]

I'm more concerned their going to somehow break the game again.
Like every update?
It's not a question if they'll break the game with the next update but rather how it will happen.

100% agreed, OP. If they had just said, "Yes, we know it's a problem, and we will be working hard to fix it" and then gave us regular updates from there, even if the progress was slow, I'd be fine with that. Instead they've promised the moon and substantially raised our expectations, and then delivered absolutely nothing on that promise. That's the part that bothers me the most about this whole situation; like yes, of course I want performance to be better for game health reasons and because their stated minimum/recommended spec could not run this game at a reasonable frame rate, but the thing that ticks me off is them promising to thoroughly solve the problem and then not so much as giving a single measly update in the past two years.
They've said "oh yeah we're focusing on optimization when we design the new maps", and maybe they are, but frame rates are not improving. If you can make the maps look nicer without worsening the frame rate that's all well and good, but we need improvements, and substantial ones.
Yep,their awful and non-existent communication about this issue after promising so much is really really infuriating.

When PS4 was unplayable for weeks after a patch their first suggestion was that PS4 players update the firmware even though you can't play online games on PS4 without having it up to date. That response showed they lack basic knowledge when it comes to consoles. This post (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187573/console-optimization/p1) from last summer has lists of triggers on console for fps drops for both killers and survivors that the most we got is it was passed on to the team. Now that ps5/XboxSeriesX are out and from what I've heard the better system has removed fps drops I don't see them bothering with optimization for ps4/xbox1, they'll just make sure the game still runs on those systems until Sony/Microsoft stop supporting them.
At this point they might aswell just ask us if we tried to turn the console off and on again to see if the perfomance is better :]
But hey,at least we can get optimization for the small prise of 500€ :D

@Pulsar said:
Hey all,
I wanted to bring this up as its an issue that has bugged me for a while now. BHVR announced in March of 2019 that they planned to have 60 FPS on minimum spec PC's, the PS4 and Xbox One. While I understand that delays happen and that 2020 was a difficult time for everyone, it feels like nothing has changed.
The game certainly looks prettier on certain maps, but the performance has not improved at all. Certain Killers are still borderline unplayable due to freezing, low FPS and massive stuttering issues.
For example, even if I make the correct read on someone using Dead Hard, I am unable to capitalize on their mistake since my game froze the moment they used their perk.
For the Survivor side, anytime someone gets hit, the game tends to freeze, especially if the Killer uses Sloppy Butcher. This causes Survivors to lose huge amounts of distance and allows the Killer an easier down.
The original quote is found below:
"When we first released Dead by Daylight back in 2016, we targeted 30 FPS on our minimum spec. Up until recently, we optimized the game in bursts; for the console launch and before releasing a new Killer. We are now ready to set a new performance target: Dead by daylight will run at 60 FPS on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and minimum spec PCs."
tl;dr Is BHVR still planning on fulfilling their promise to Xbox One and PS4 users or have these plans been scrapped in favor of prioritizing the Series X and PS5?
I don't even care for the 60 FPS anymore but is it so hard to fix these damn FPS DROPS?!?
-Someone uses an exhaustion perk?
FPS drop
-You get hit with sloppy butcher, noed or freddy?
FPS drop
You get bloodlust?
FPS drop
etc.
It's been almost 2 years since they promised us optimization. And what do we get?Nothing
The only thing they supposedly fixed were the FPS when someone opens a chest. After 2 years. And i'm not even sure if that's really the case
We have games like Call of Duty or Overwatch where your whole screen gets bombarded with effects at times, but you barely notice any performance issues and then we have Dead by Daylight that gives my PS4 a heart attack whenever it has to load a little status effect.
I'm sorry but that's just deppressing
-
Probably the biggest exeggeration i've read today
-Queue times are subjective. You'll see players that have faster queue times due to crossplay, for some people queue time are worse and other people didn't experience a noticeable change at all.
-It's not that console survivors are bad,but rather the lack of a proper rank/MMR system makes it extremely easy to get to high ranks
-The hit validation seems to still prefer high ping killers.Nothing to do with consoles
-I don't think console survivors are stealthier. Most of them are probably just inexperienced and got to high ranks because it's so damn easy
-Sweaty SWFs were always hard to beat.Nothing new about that.
-I disgree,i would say crossplay was a great addition to the game. And i'm still amazed how well it works
-crossplay would have been pretty much pointless if it's turned of by default, because as you said not a lot of people care to check their settings

That's a good point. I think some of us are hopeful just so we don't have to deal with the bs some survivors purposely put killers through just cuz they have the infamous DS + UB (maybe Head On on top of that). Personally I think DS should automatically deactivate if a survivor jumps in a locker. I get most killers don't fall for that anyways because they know it, but if that isn't DS being used as offensive perk instead of a defensive perk idk what is.
The thing is,changing DS won't be an easy task. It's gonna be more complicated than a simple number buff (which already takesseveral months for them to do so).
I'll assume it will take a few months before we hear something new about that.
-
I seriously doubt they are that quick with a change to DS

I don't know what I'm saying. Sometimes you say something stupid while you're in a bad state of mind and you double down on it to form a facade of confidence. I wish I could take it all back. Thanks for your concern. It's just hard to be the better man sometimes. I'll try to stay the course once again.
That's completely understandable.
Everyone makes mistakes, that's just human. It's very respectable of you that you were able to understand the mindset you've fallen into was the wrong one.
I was at that point as well.I too got fed up several times with all these survivors BM'ing and insulting me even if i did nothing wrong.
It sometimes gets to you and you just start to think "If they treat my like an ***hole killer then i might just play like one!".
Always remind yourself to just pity those kind of people, whose life seems to be so empty that they need to get their satisfaction from making other peoples life hell.

Yeah, and nothing happened since I posted that. After all these years, not a peep from the devs to address toxicity. Not even a "we don't approve of this". So eventually I said ######### it and dropped the morality argument. It's an honor system that nobody plays by, so why should I?
I don't need to take this from you. There's a host of people on this forum that are on my case about any and every post I make. What's the harm in 1 more person?
Well, what do you think are the devs supposed to do in order to stop toxicity?
There's only so much the devs can do against it like banning people for harassment or griefing.
Toxicity will always be a part of online gaming unfortunately. There won't be somekind of miracle that completely gets rid of toxicity.A message from the devs won't do anything either.
I disagree, there are actually a lot of players that behave normally without being overly toxic but people are more likely to remember the bad ones.
Also, just ask yourself.Do you really want to become one of those people that get satisfaction from ruining other peoples fun?

No, I think I made my intentions pretty clear. Don't push a killer, or this is what you're gonna see more of.
You do know that you just create more and more of those toxic survivors if you go out and intentionally ruin other players matches?
Just skip the endgame chat and take a break after frustrating games.
Be the better person.

Hahaha! Who are you kidding? As if a majority of the people who play this game haven't camped or hit someone on hook every now and again. I'm only as entitled as the next man.
Dude, you literally opened up a thread in the past talking about that toxicity is bad and the devs should do something against that.
But now you try to explain to us how intentionally going out and ruin matches for other people is ok because you got triggered/bullied by a group of survivors?
Do you really not see the irony here?
You are doing the same exact thing like those "bullies".

Pop is very good but sometimes I feel it has a placebo effect. Just the time that you waste travelling to the gen and kicking it makes those 20 seconds not that incredible.
The best thing about not running pop is that you don't have that awful experience of getting a gen repaired into your face before you can pop it

Same I sometimes put pop in, but at the same time pop doesn't even really feel worth it to even justify kicking the gen, because it barely sheds off time. Ruin and undying is unreliable in terms of you having to worry if someone has detectives or bad totems spots, or whatever else it might be. Often times there will be times where you lose both of your totems really quickly and have 2 perks the rest of the game. Which can cost you game easily. I feel like running aggressive perks is the way to go, instead of running ton of slowdown.
@[Deleted User] said:
That's why the only slowdown I run right now is Corrupt.

Corrupt feels like the most consistent slowdown out of all and it fits my aggressive playstyle.
Hate the RNG nonsense of Ruin+Undying and i hate kicking gens because it interrupts the game flow.

A lot of things in the game could be fixed in an instant; but I mean it took years to get trapper to be able to just reset traps.
The most basic quality of life changes require years of constant nagging from the community to get done; so I just gave up and take it all as it is. I don't think much about what is going to be done or if ____ character or perk will be buffed or nerfed because by the time it happens I will probably be on hiatus from the game again.
This game is almost 5 years old and their most iconic killer, the trapper,is still not able to carry 2 traps without addons.

Seriously? You're just trying to defend something that's completely irrelevant
That's just a balance kind of thing.

Just wanted to correct you that 12 hooks is not the objective but rather killing all 4 survivors.

This comparison is a bad one. The killer did not get 12 hooks. From an objective standpoint, 12 hooks is the killer objective, and 5 gens is the survivor's objective. Kills and Escapes are not. They happen after the objective.
So someone getting 4 kills in "2 minutes" means they slugged and 1 hooked everyone.. that's not impressive, nor remotely close to actually completing the objective.
This game, the objective was actually done in 2.5 mins. End of story.
There is literally no killer equivalency of being able to 12 hook a team in 2.5 mins. Not an Iri Head Huntress, not an "OP" Spirit or Nurse.
The killers overall objective is to get 4 kills.Doesn't matter how he gets them.
The survivors overall objective is to repair all 5 generators and escape.
What makes you think that the killer is supposed to get 12 hooks in order to fulfill their objective?
