I want 'em to be playable at low skill, but still great with a high skill cap.
I absolutely agree.
Blight is a perfect example for this.
You can still use his power for mobility, even if you're bad with it in chases.
But once you master him you'll be a force to be reckoned with

Same. It's hit or miss. Saturday I was very unlucky thought about ditching the combo then Sunday came around and for the first time ever they had to cleanse 4 hexes to get ruin. then again next game all 5. i feel if it survives long enough to regress 2 gens down to nothing even if they cleanse it's too late. Hell maybe one depending on how they cleansed meaning how many went off looking for them.
It's the same reason why i stopped using Ruin before it's rework.
I absolutely hate the RNG aspect of it.I rather play with weaker perks that are more consistent

Nah man, pretty sure you were aiming for that air, like about 99% sure.
I've had aim dressing pull me towards a rock while lunging. They really need to look into that because it is actually an abusable function of the game.
Especially when some survivors know how to move just right to make your lunge end early without getting hit.
I swear, aim dressing and the non-existent optimization (thanks bloodlust) screwed me over so many times it's beyond rediculous.
Devs really need to address that >:(
(*Narrator voice* : They won't)

I mean,i had a match where my undying got cleansed after 15 seconds into the game and soon after that my ruin but i had also matches where survivors had to cleanse all 5 totems ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

After mory nerf, the hardest game for me in my 5k hours, i will loose 99 from 100 such games of course. And they upgraded there build with BNP here.
I'm 100% sure that this game was incredibly hard to play as and i deeply respect good blight players (you can tell that already by the 1 person asking how you did the 180 during a dash).
I just wanted to correct the person saying you won even though you were using a much weaker killer and setup than OP.

See, this killer beat them with a much worse killer and a much less sweaty build. Kind of ruins the op argument. Not that he's wrong you will almost never beat this swf, my point is its just as gross to run Freddy with as much op ######### as possible, stomping 19 out of 20 groups mercilessly because of your OPness. Glad the op gets to see how it feels
See, this killer beat them with a much worse killer and a much less sweaty build
A very good Blight is much better than freddy in this kind of scenario.
Also, that blight wasn't using a weak setup either with an ebony mori (no idea if it's pre nerf or after),pretty much blight strongest addon combo, and decent perks.
Not to discredit him/her of course.

First of all, I will never understand why people complain about Nerfs to a Perk which was weak to begin with. I have not seen many Knockouts at all and I cant believe that onle the few people who actually used it are complaining. So why complaining about a Perk that would not have been run anway?
Anway:
"Now, with Twins being out, this perk would be pretty gross on them, but the perk was changed around mid-2020."
That the Perk was changed mid-2020 does not matter at all. If they want to do that in regards to the Twins Release, they already knew that they were coming. BHVR plans Chapters with at least 1 year in advance, aka they know what will be cominig at the start of 2022. So when they changed Knockout, they knew that Twins would be released later during the year.
Also, it was during Leatherfaces Rework, aka it made sense to touch his Perks at this point.
When it comes to WHY it was nerfed, I would say that they thought it would be too annoying on Killers who can down people fast (like Nurse, Billy or Oni) so that it becomes harder to pick up other Survivors at this point. But IMO they should look at Infectious Fright for that, far more unhealthy.
And IMO they should change Knockout to something completely different because it is still a Perk which is strong against Solos and weak against SWF, which should not be the case.
Also, it was during Leatherfaces Rework, aka it made sense to touch his Perks at this point.
But why add the basic attack requirement to Knockout?
It's a teachable from Leatherface,a killer that normally downs survivor with his power.
First of all, I will never understand why people complain about Nerfs to a Perk which was weak to begin with. I have not seen many Knockouts at all and I cant believe that onle the few people who actually used it are complaining. So why complaining about a Perk that would not have been run anway?
People complain about such perk changes because it's plain bad design that restricts the use of more creative and different perk builds.
Another great example for this is Surge.A perk that is rarely used because it's so damn restrictive.
I would love using those 2 perks but i can't because they simply don't work on my main killers.
Overbalancing perks just enforces a stale meta, which is a huge problem in DbD
-
@lowiq said:
You answered your own question. "With Twins being out, this perk would be pretty gross on them". It's not only gross on twins, but basically any killer that wants to abuse it against solos.
Have you ever played against a knockout killer that tries to get all survivors to bleed out?
It would be useless on the twins anyway because no perk applies to victor once you use him

DbD’s battle pass system is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. The pop up notification you mention is indeed scummy. I also hate that the battle pass has so many empty spots, why not give us bloodpoints or shards? Also, why can’t we accept more than one challenges instead of having to accept and complete only one challenge at a time? The battle pass system and the challenges need rework. The bloodweb needs rework too if they don’t want to lose new players.
I agree that the latest DLC was a disaster, both very unfinished and full of bugs. A complete joke.
At least let us accept a killer AND a survivor challenge.
The amount of times i forgot to change challenges when switching roles is ridiculous.
Such a simple QoL change and they weren't able to include this after 5 battlepasses

If none of this puts you off then more power to you, but most of the DBD community doesn't feel that way.
there are aspects of it that do put me off. instead of senselessly whining on the forums without a unified voice, i simply don't buy into them. the pressure of the rift and the disaster that was the hallowed blight "event" put me off enough to make me take about a month break, delete my old account on here, and come back with a fresh mindset
if they go too far there will be universal outrage and they will cave to the pressure. being whiny all the time doesn't help for #########.
I agree with @stargazer9 right here.
Criticism ≠ whining

What amazed me more was exactly how the killer knew the exact spot i was stood in (wasn't after a bbq hook for example)

The thing you mentioned about flashlights was probably some kind of macro those pc players used to click their flashlight extremely fast

He played this match so poorly it's hilarious to even consider it for something. It's Cowshed, so the only way to win with Oni is getting his power ASAP. He should have farmed blood from Jake and then go pressure gens. Using Monitor + Infectious he could have easily slugged 2 or 3 survivors with one Blood Fury and the game would have been slowed down massively. There's also the fact his other 2 perks (Sloppy and Deerstalker) do almost nothing. Things like Discordance or Tinkerer would be way more helpful.
He was also using Onis strongest Addon combo too :]

Is it just me or has there been an increasing amount of content regarding gens going by in ~3 minutes? I cannot tell if these scenarios are more of a fluke caused by being placed with more top% survivors that know what they are doing or if the general survivor meta has just shifted. In light of all the outcry about Ruin/Undying, I almost feel like survivors are fighting back by just hard focusing on gens.
Now obviously, this does not happen every game but I feel like it has been happening more often recently, and I suspect the general hatred survivors have toward Ruin/Undying has something to do with it.
It's just to get more views honestly.
Those videos attract all these killers that love to blame every game they lose on genrush and fail to see the mistakes they/the content creator did in those matches

4 gens in 2:42 seconds.. Yeah because he literally let them? How many mistakes did he make in that 2:42 seconds? How long did it take him to Blood Fury? It took him over 3 minutes just to get a single down and he tries to put on a false narrative about Gen Rushing. He didn't put any pressure on them at all and kept talking about 1 dead hard causing it.
0:15 starts chase with Jake
0:59 breaking the pallet instead of blood lusting around it. The only way its an infinite is if the survivor never makes a mistake. Survivors will clip a barrel or the edge of something.
1:20 double backing when you can clearly tell by Jake's cries and his blood orbs that he kept running straight.
1:30 Leaves Jake to start chase with Claudette
1:33 failed to commit to the Claudette and lost her in the cornfields do to his double backing.
1:38 starts 3rd chase with Nea
1:42 tried to make a fancy play when he could have committed and hit the Nea through the pallet.
1:55 commits to chase with Nea when she was leading him away from the other survivors towards a strong loop.
2:15 triple vaulting the same window to try and mind game
2:55 loses Nea and starts up chase again with Jake
3:21 Gets first down on Jake (1st person he started chasing)
I would say the first major mistake he did is not to farm the jake for his power and then switch targets to start his snowball
-
Hell yeah, was waiting for someone to post some of these videos.
The thing about those videos is that the killer always makes some major mistakes in these and then blames it on something else.Which is not good.Streamers like these should be able to call out their mistakes and not just call it genrush.
It only feeds into that self victimisation a lot of players fall into, that just blame something else without looking at their own mistakes they did.

I could never think of a situation where me sliding off the object would help me more than bumping into it.
The reason why his collision is so wonky on some objects is because it's straight up bugged. His collision hitboxes were completely fine after his release but got buggy when the first hotfix came out for that chapter.

This is a combo that can flat out be removed from a match. Doing totems ( hexes and dull ) is the easy counter.
As for your teammates, DBD is a team game for survivors. The match is dependent on you working together with them. If they don't do totems, that's on them, not the perk combo itself. If you know that Ruin/undying is a meta combo, then bring perks to counter it. Otherwise you're complaining for nothing because you refuse to adapt.
Also, calling something boring is not an excuse to nerf it. State exactly why you hate it, or don't complain at all.
Honestly, the best counter to Ruin+Undying is just having trash RNG like me and get your Undying cleansed first, then your Ruin afterwards and play with 2 perks for the rest of the game ★~(◠‿◕✿)

Right, but I can tell you right now that even in SWF you need to think about: "Did I do a totem? Where?", there's a little bit of discussion and uncertainty involved. Time used. For the tippity-top Tournament level SWFs that time spent communicating is likely much less, but in general SWFs still need to actually make that communication. ("Okay, we're about done with gens, how many totems have we done so far?" "Uhhh... I cleansed 3, no 4 of them..."), and that's assuming 4-man SWF, and not 1-3 man mixes with randoms.
If the game spoon-feeds you that information, you don't even need to communicate with your squad anymore, also boosting SWF gameplay.
Hell, my squadmates mention that me using Kindred is nice, since whenever I'm on hook, we don't need to communicate as to where The Killer or we are. It's just there, on screen, and we immediately discuss routes/gens/heals.
If it's going to be something that is passive, it either needs you to spend time getting that info (such as a counter in The Basement), or it needs to take a Perk slot.
The addition of this change could also benefit the killer. You would then get very valuable information.

IMO a global audio/visual cue would need to be put behind a Perk, not basekit. (Such as small game, or a new Totem related Perk, and also it needs to be both audio/visual, similar to that of the Gen explosion notification with the red arrow).
I don't think so.
SWFs already have this kind of information and it would really help to make the gap between solo players and swfs a bit smaller.
-
@GingerBeard said:
I've said it before and i'll say it again, all I want is a subtle audio cue when a non-hex totem is cleansed. It would go some way in bridging the gap between solo and swf while not being too hand-holdy. I would be fine with keeping NOED the way it is if this was implemented.
Its just not a fun perk to face as a survivor, just like Object of Obsession isn't fun to face as killer. Seems both will remain unchanged though because statically they're both fine according to the devs. I just hope they change their tune sooner rather than later.
That would be the best change imo.
To add to this.Show us a notification where the dull totem was cleansed similiar to hex totems so that you know where you don't have to look for other totems

"Garbage matchmaking" what has that even to do with those statistics? Red ranked survivor run against red ranked killer. Purple run into purple. On average you are paired with your rank. If you say rank means nothing, well... then it does not mean a thing for both sides.
No matter if you look at the red rank stats or the overall stats, they are pretty much the same. Killer get more kills then survivor escape.
Yeah, but the majority of players in high rank don't belong in those ranks (very noticeable on the survivor side). It's not an accurate representaion.

Explain us, why should it be rewarding for the killer and not for the survivor? Why should killer have 75% winrate and survivors only 25%?
Funfact: We actually already (or should i say still) have that inballance. Killer have almost 70% killrate, while survivor only 30% escaperate.
Those statistics are useless though because the matchmaking is absolute garbage

- my survivor matches have been significantly faster. At least when the other survivors don't play hide and seek. RNG
- new ruin is trash. I just ignore it, because it only has a effect when the killer chases the survivor that was working on a gen. Killer breaks the chase? Back to the gen. Killer sticks to the chase? Means the others will hold m1.
- I haven't seen a good Billy or nurse on months. But that's totally subjective.
- moris were a necessary evil. They helped rooting out toxic SWF teams. I wouldn't use them often, but when I suspected a toxic group I'd equip it and played normally. Then IF they started with flashlight saves, hook sabotages or body blocking. I'd just drop the survivor and use the mori.
Now they are purely decorative.
-That's rather hard to judge because most players in high ranks are pretty bad.I would say that if at least the killer player is decent then the majority of their games should be quite manageable
-It can be pretty good but the killer has to be really good at pressuring survivors of the gens (which is definetely not easy to do).If you can simply ignore ruin then the killer isn't good at pressuring.
-Good nurses have always been quite rare (at least on console)
As for billy, yeah he's kind of dead.Almost nobody seems to play him and good billys are basically unicorns at this point :(
-The thing with moris though is that almost all of the killers using it just used it to completely stomp the other team.If you saw a mori in your lobby you already knew how the game would go:
-Killer finds and downs first survivor they see
-killer now proxy camps the survivor
-survivor gets unhooked, immediately tunneled by the killer and then moried
-Rinse and repeat
It was absolutely not fun to go against and it pretty much already gave the killer the win before the match even started (unless the killer was absolutely awful)

Im just wondering how that is possible. Either you are the best killer in the game or just lying dude. It doesn't matter how skilled killer you are, you have limitations how fast you can travel in the map. The first generators WILL pop with the new ruin.
Normal m1 killer can move from one side of the map to another in roughly 22, 25 seconds, add chases, downing survivor, transportin to the hook. If survivors spread out to repair 4 different generators, how will you stop all of them? old ruin was great, because if you had good start at the beginning it slowed down survivors enough that you could stop survivors from popping the first gens instantly. Now it's impossible to do that as you have that timeline of roughly 90-100 seconds and with new ruin you cannot simultaneously put pressure on all 4 survivors if they are spread out.
Which is why you don't use ruin on killers with zero map pressure/mobility.
I agree that pressuring survivors that spawned on 4 different gens is really hard though (would love to see a change to the eaery game that would spawn all 4 survivors together).

DBD contains lots of sexual connotations.
It´s a game of chase and desire, obsession, submission and dominance, tease and denial. Survivors often sound like they enjoy getting hit, picked up and hooked way too much, most prominent examples being Jane, Feng and Adam.
We have moved away from classic slasher Survivor outfits and got a wide variety of silly, goofy, sexy and cute outfits to make the characters more visually appealing.
It´s no coincidence that this community is the thirstiest of them all, no matter if they´re straight, gay or other.
It´s no coincidence that this community is the thirstiest of them all
That's a fat nope from me there lol
