You people just make excuses. You can do the same for survivors.

There you go.
That’s a good way to sum up the majority of the comments left on this thread.

Because you would be able to comprehend how she works and be able to counter her with jukes I guess. You would not complain that spirit needs to be "nerfed".
Reread the post, I didn’t state that a nerf was necessary to her overall base power. All I’ve been saying is she needs to provide more feedback, whether it be audio or visual.
-
@Shaped said:
How do you explain people beating spirit then?
- The player doesn’t have much experience with The Spirit.
- The survivors are equipped with perks that are effective against her.
- It’s a SWF group
-
@Imagine_Milk said:
There is counterplay involved in a match with spirit despite perks. I personally would say that misdirection is the most optimal way to deceive her. If you would understand how she works, you would be able to decipher actions that you make while she is phasing. You are revealing that you do not understand how the Spirit works.
How can you even assume that I don’t know how she works simply because I stated that she needs to provide additional feedback?

I mean that's fair, but what I'm trying to say is that Spirit doesn't need to be weaker to become more balanced.
Your right, a nerf isn’t necessary but extra feedback would be nice.

I don't think Hillbilly got nerfed to the ground but he's certainly less appealing than before. You are right about the fact that survivors do want Spirit gutted though.
A slight change to make it a tad bit easier to verse spirit is all we’re asking for, that is all.
-
@GannTM said:
Just going to ask a straight forward question to the people who want Spirit "nerfed": are you asking for a buff to compensate? It doesn't sound like you are because of the way you're wording your logic. I feel like a lot of people need to realize balancing things out doesn't always necessarily mean nerfing them. Let me educate a lot of survivor mains that the definition of "nerf" is "to decrease the power of something." Why does Spirit need to be a weaker killer? I main Spirit and agree she needs some tweaks but it's not impossible to keep her as strong as she is while balancing her out.
I've seen many people make proposed changes to Spirit that have so many flaws in it that it makes me feel like they have never played Spirit before. I remember watching this one guy on YouTube that ranted about how "OP" and "easy" Spirit was and proposed that they should bring back the breathing bug along with having a fatigue coming out of phase similar to what Nurse and Legion has. As you expect, I didn't hear about any buffs she can receive to compensate. These two changes would immediately drop Spirit down to B-tier and would honestly make her just as hard as Nurse in some situations. Honestly wouldn't really mind if she was almost as hard as Nurse as long she's still on Nurse's level of strength. Adding a fatigue to Spirit's kit is such a big addition that you'd almost have to make Wakazashi Saya (purple reappearance add on) base kit to balance it out. I've also heard people say Spirit shouldn't be able to hear survivors while phasing. Spirit relies so much on audio that this would about kill her. All survivors need to do against Spirit is to make distance and double back as soon as they see Spirit stand still if she couldn't see or hear them.
I really don't mean to be rude when I say this, but if you don't play Spirit, then your ideas for her probably aren't going to be good, and this applies to every killer. If you do want to brainstorm good ideas, play Spirit more often and you'll get a better understanding of what would be best for her. Also, for the love of Jane Romero's thickness, please stop saying to nerf a killer without proposing something in return. That right there proves to me you're only for one side. Not saying there aren't people that are bias towards the killer side and think that Spirit's flaw in giving the survivors little information is balanced. There are definitely a lot of Spirit players that ruin the reputation of my waifu because of their toxicity and entitlement. We can all ignore those people and the survivor mains that do the same and have a civil discussion about this topic.
It’s a public forum, everyone has the right to speak their mind. With that being said, I believe that the spirit should give feedback for when she enters her phase mode.

You'll find them helpful. That's how I learned how to counter spirit. Try truetalent, on YouTube he has a video where he actually uses diagrams to explain but also watch a few videos where he is survivor vs spirit and he'll explain. I typed in 'truetalent spirit counter' and a few good vids came up. Otzdarva is just an absolute gem and he makes so many useful videos and tutorials, not just for beginners to the game but for good players looking to get a further edge.
Its definitely worth watching them mate, watching the best and picking up tips may even help your overall game. I played dbd and got to about rank 10 ans stalled. Watched a few streamers and how they play and that definitely helped me to red rank. Watching the best (both survibir and killer) helps you become tje best. Hope this helped and good luck !
I’ll check them out, thanks.

True Spirit is harder to counterplay than your average killer (don't think many survivor mains or killer mains would disagree with that) i suppose my point would be you shouldn't be able to counterplay 100% of the time - otherwise it would be imbalanced against the killer side. BHVR state that a balanced outcome is 2 deaths 2 escapes so being able to counterplay a killer 100% of the time (assuming the actual human playing killer is competant) then it's not a balanced killer therefore not a balanced game.
With regards to the original question and ways to counterplay have you watched any streamers? Tru3ralent and NotOtzdarva are very good at demonstrating methods .
Hope this helps
I don’t watch streams, but I’ll see if they have a video related to the topic.

Without trying to sound disrespectful please explain. Usual 'Spirit too OP nerf immediately'. Plus 'I've tried everything in the book' evidently not otherwise this wouldn't be an issue
The methods are not always going to work 100% of the time, the killer will eventually catch on. My problem with spirit is that there’s no feedback while she’s phasing.

If you had something specific in mind, it would make your argument for a nerf abit better. As it stands, you havent actually given anything which just tells me you want a killer nerfed SO bad that youll never had to see it again.
Like you said, I didn’t mention anything specific so why assume that I want spirit to be butchered? Here’s my proposal, grass & corn should be moved if the spirit is phasing through it.

Anyone who thinks Spirit is unbalanced is bad at the game.
Sure she can be nasty with Stridor but then Iron will exists. Perhaps the game would be better off if neither side had perks that altered the sounds.
Guess I’m bad at the game. 🤷♂️

2-man and 3-man get to know when the random(s) is in a chase. 4-man gets faster feedback on when a person is in/not in a chase without needing to talk about it.
The only SWF it doesn't help is a min-maxing 4-man tournament group, and that is not something that should be aimed for in terms of average gameplay.
Buff Empathy to show the Auras of Survivors in a chase, but don't make it basekit.
Why shouldn’t it be base-kit? I don’t find it fair that solo players have to use up a perk slot while SWF groups are allowed to use what they please. In my opinion, trying to solve problems with perks is not necessarily a good idea.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I'm against this unless it's part of a perk.
The information provided is information that players normally will not be able to obtain without being in a specific place, while also more effectively communicating chase status than comms does. (In my 4-man SWF sometimes we forget when to callout that the Killer left us, or that they're on us, or there's ongoing discussion and a callout isn't mentioned)
This is a straight up buff to solo, 2-man, 3-man, and 4-man SWF.
I don’t see how SWF would benefit from this.

logged into to post after reading a genuine concern.
the only way they are going to bridge the gap between SWF and solo atm is "free" perks while solo, as in if you are solo you get Kindred, a weaker Bond perk, a weaker version of left behind (half the hatch finding distance) and a weaker slippery meat that basically tries to escape once free of charge just before going to phase 2 of the hook with a 15% success rate not stackable or buffable by other sources.
then just disable them as more pople join a party so if you are a 2man party the slippery meat and left behind are disabled and if you are a 4man party ALL of them are disabled for you.
the reason i say these 4 perks in particular is that most solo players need to run defensive perks just to stand a chance at not being removed or farmed by the other survivors in that game and without the "hive mind" voice comms most SWF come with they lack most information.
by making these 4 perks baseline while solo the solo survivor stands a better chance at enjoying the game, after all how many games have YOU had where you are playing solo, get hooked after a 2minute chase and see 3 players coming directly towards you with a stealthed killer? with the baseline kindred this would put off those greedy little parasite survivors by showing them your not alone while also making your solo sacrifice play feel rewarding.
these 4 perks also dont tend to help SWF players anyways so end up not being used at all by them so only fitting that those same perks would be more useful to a solo player than a party.
This!

@[Deleted User] said:
easy answer: Text chat. you can't stop people from coordinating their loadouts and picking teammates before match but this is the best way to close the gap. now solo survivors will have the ability to say "99% the last gen, i have soul guard and adrenaline i'll distract him and get out with decisive strike. the guy with borrowed rescue me so i can body block. someone go to the exit before the generator is finished"
I can see that working for pc, but not much for console.

Impose limits on SWF. For example, any size SWF can only have 1 instance of a perk. Therefore only 1 DS, 1 UB, 1 Dead Hard, etc. If you solo this wouldn't effect you. What this does is encourage team builds over everyone just running the best meta.
IMO you guys should try playing in a DBD tournament or at least watching one. If you did you'd learn that at the highest level, SWF is completely overpowered. Bringing solo survivors up to that point is literal insanity and would kill the game. It makes a hell of a lot more sense to bring down SWF to solos wherever possible. A top tier SWF with no perks will still steamroll nearly anything you can throw at them. Nurse and Spirit are the only ones that might stand a chance, and only if they run very oppressive builds (and no I don't mean Undying/Ruin because that is worthless against a SWF that just does all the totems in the first minute of the game). Yet in the normal game, these teams will actually be running full meta, which makes them even more overpowered. Yes, imposing a perk limit won't be the end all fix, but those are the kinds of things that need to be done to balance the game.
Anyone that says "buff solo to SWF then balance the game" is delusional. You won't be able to balance the game at this point, survivors already have the advantage, however slight, and in a SWF it's much bigger. You're saying you want a totally busted game? You want a game where every game is like the hardest SWF you ever played? You're ######### crazy.
Nerf SWF, but do it in a way that doesn't make people hate the game. Besides the 1 instance of a perk rule, maybe also you can't be the same survivor. Maybe also your offerings become more limited (eg. no map offerings). Maybe your luck greatly decreases in a SWF (or rather the chance of finding good items is decreased so no more keys or maps). Stuff that doesn't directly impact gameplay (so nothing like less time on a hook) just stuff that evens the playing field a bit.
Limiting SWF does sound like a good idea.

Split the Ques up. There is no way to mix and match them in the same game and close the gap. Any power or Perk added to offset SWF 5th Perk (Comms) will always hit the Solo players far harder. Moreover, 3-Person SWF will always value their friends over the "Red Shirt" thrown in with them. No matter how much animations and basic communication is added to the game, it will never match the power of:
"I've got eyes on him, he is moving towards Mother's Dwelling and setting a trap outside the window."
"I'm looping the Oni away from the Generator in the Hatch, it is almost done... and there is a lit Totem in there."
You get the idea. SWF CAN provide each other with more information than any combination of Perks in the game. The only way to bring Solo up is by breaking them into two Ques and balancing SWF with additional in game objectives and perhaps an extra Perk unlocked for the Killer that faces them. Then the Perks which were strangling Solos in an effort to balance SWF could be revisited. In short, Perks are a terrible way to try and balance these two different groups.
Yup, perks should not be the solution to solving issues.

Without crossplay all queue times of all consoles would take considerably longer like it did before crossplay was introduced. Most people use crossplay and the minority who don't want it still have the option to disable it in exchange for longer queue times. It would be a very bad idea to punish the whole playerbase with long queue times just for that minority to get somewhat faster queue times.

People complain about fps drops but I would rather have them than these stupid weird lags and sudden ping increase. And the most annoying thing is when they say that I need to buy a better Internet. Like seriously? 😑I have been playing this game for more than a year now and it only started when they introduced dedicated servers (however it was rare). Some folks even wanted to report me for cheating although the killer was hitting and hooking me and I died really quickly.
My Internet is fine. Like dude, I had several normal games five minutes ago. I begin to run and then I see this red icon in the left corner. But when I open ESC menu, it tells me that my ping is 60 ms. Like #########? It is definitely over 200. Whether I play survivor or killer, I just start to teleport backwards and can't catch/outrun anyone. Or when I try to hide behind the wall, the ping just literally pushes me left or right for the killer to see. It happens randomly and doesn't really depend on the time of the day. It's so frustrating🙄
I can relate, nothings more frustrating then lagging right in front of the killer or lagging farther from a survivor that your chasing.
