It's weird how Wraith went from being a pile of dookie to actually being very good and fun. I love the spot he is in. I still see questions the a few amount of people thinking he's not all that great. I'm having a ton of success with him this week and just pure fun. I wanna see what others think of him because I think he can be highly underestimated at times now.

Yes, he is indeed great. After his rework, he was still kind of unsatisfying to play, especially because his lunge was useless after uncloaking. Since they fixed that issue too, Wraith is one of the most fun killers to play and (at least for me) to go against. BHVR really did a great job.

  • My weakness is adorable survivors. I can't kill people when they offer me an item or when they play in a "comedic" way.

i don't really play billy so i'm not gonna comment on like, usage of his power since i don't know anything about using it. i don't know if it's correct to take loops wide with the intent of chainsaw drifting, i'll just stick to what i know.

also, is your gameplay choppy too, or is it just the video? i'm going to assume it's your whole computer based on some of the things you miss due to wiggly survivors at low framerates.

    --------------------------------------------

game 1: aight now it's your turn on the hook

you do just fine, no major mistakes, the survivors go down one after another. game was basically over as soon as meg used for the people on dwight and you chainsawed him, giving her absolutely no value and leaving her broken for 80 seconds. they made a lot of mistakes and didn't manage to punish you for yours.

all i have to say is that you seem to lose track of people super easily in this match, so try to use your ears more. it makes you tunnel them in order of how obvious they're being instead of picking targets based on priority, which can lead to you losing gens left and right if they had properly played.

    --------------------------------------------

game 2: girls weekend at the winter retreat

at 23:57 you're chasing this kate around a generator that's like. massively nearly finished. you get a discordance alert all the way on the other side of the map and decide to fly straight there, dropping the kate completely. so you've given up a gen, AND you've given up a pop by not committing to this kate to go to a gen that you know isn't nearly done because tinkerer hasn't gone off.

so you fly all the way to the other side of the map to find zarina and feng. you injure them both, and then zarina taunts you into a chase. she gets away a bit, then you give up on her and go for feng, who's closer. but then zarina closes in again so you switch back to zarina. you finally down her and start flying to a gen that's popped tinkerer and then discordance, and you can see there's 2 people on it with BBQ. you really should've just pressured the gen you were on, and the feng, because if you bully the feng here then one of those other two has to save zarina for her.

ultimately the pop you get from hooking the zarina here doesn't end up going into a generator which is unfortunate. at 26:44 you can hear that the generator is 40%-ish completed and popping it here could have been huge.

i think this sequence is borne from information overload. you get and respond to the myriad of alerts your perks are giving you without planning around them. it's just very reactive gameplay rather than thoughtful gameplay, if you understand what i mean.

by and large though i think this game went downhill because of your computer being choppy. you miss a bunch of easy chainsaws because you just can't keep track with how wiggly these survivors are at your framerate. i think i counted like... 8 missed saws due to low framerate? it's just unfortunate, i'm sorry dude.

    https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/441345780012285952/843453220302487582/unknown.png

there's a chance you're joking around here, but like. if you are actually seriously thinking about not playing billy any more, i'd support it. i think you should play someone who's more consistent at a lower framerate. for game 3 you switch to bubba, so i'm inclined to believe you're not joking so much. in any case bubba is much more consistent at a lower framerate, so i'm glad you did this if billy was getting you down.

    --------------------------------------------

game 3: hubba hubba it's bubba

43:55 this is a minor thing but when you're chasing survivors at the TL walls (named for the fact one of them is a T and one of them is an L) you never want to go around the outside edge, otherwise you are physically incapable of ever catching them. cut through the middle and force them to go around the outside, then they have to take a 50/50 of vaulting/faking the window to keep away from you, it's just better.

48:30 this kate is running you in circles because she's running the loop much tighter than you are. try to hug those corners tighter. i know you can't do this while your chainsaw is revved but she's already injured so just m1 her. you keep trying to go for the chainsaw here which isn't gaining you any ground because you're not allowed to hug the loops otherwise you'll hit tantrum, so she's just going to stay faster than you. what i'm saying is, be aware of bubba's weaknesses. you do eventually realise this and then go for the m1 but a whole lot of time is eaten up here and i have a feeling it's going to be costly.

at 50:00 you're struggling to get up onto the hay bale so you can get the dwight, personally i'd just vault the window and force him off of the harvester entirely. if he tries to go back up to it, vault back and he's forced to go somewhere else. again it just seems to be time getting eaten up because you're in a rush. less haste more speed. once you have the dwight, you hook him near to either your ruin or your devour hope - i would've taken him to a different hook, tbh. you really can't afford to lose either of them.

52:04 you eat a DS. that's actually probably the right move - you have massive momentum here, you've just killed the kate and your devour hope is at 4 stacks. if there ever were a time to tunnel, this would be it, and you're tunnelling the guy that's really good at running you around, so getting rid of him will probably win you the game outright even if you lose devour hope afterwards. unfortunately you kinda switch target as soon as you see david which imo is costly. i think switching target here is what gives them time to find and cleanse your devour hope.

    --------------------------------------------

game 4: step into my parlour... ok now step out of it thanks

correctly predicting that the claudette would jump into the locker and mindgaming her with the chainsaw is some GOOD STUFF. i saw it coming, you saw it coming, i hoped you'd do that, you did that. beautiful. poetry. that's a free basement hook.

however the gen she was working on... doesn't that seem a little bit too completed? doesn't that seem like someone else was working on it while you were chasing her? i would have proxy camped off the bat with the knowledge there was another person. claudette gets unhooked and you're nowhere near to do anything about it.

1:04:58 you should've taken the m1 hit on the dwight. there's just too much stuff around for you to get a chainsaw off. you're running nurse's calling, an injury now can be two downs later if you play it right. this is a trend in this whole chase with this dwight, you really wanna get that instadown chainsaw but there's just too much stuff. take the m1's when they're spoonfed to you, you would've had two hits by now.

again you basement someone and then you don't proxy camp it. you know everyone's around since you've just chased off ace and you've seen claudette pick dwight up on your nurse's - stay where the action is. if everyone's hanging around a hook, you should too! you have a tendency to want to Keep Doing Things and Remain Active no matter if the actions are accomplishing anything.

1:11:18 you hook the ace and then hit him on hook and nod a bunch. because he was clicking his flashlight? i know it's annoying, but listen. the generator literally 5 meters away from you just had a skill check failed on it. the dwight is right there. you can't afford to waste time BMing, the longer you spend wiping the blood off your weapon the more distance that dwight is getting on you. you've hooked the ace, get over him, stay focussed.

1:13:16 you break the pallet here when you could've just gone around it. the path on the left is literally lunge length. the dwight gets way more distance than he deserves here since he didn't stun you with it.

the chase with the ace takes much longer than it should. if you had m1'd him while you were bodyblocking him instead of going for a chainsaw, you'd have downed him on the pallet. again, the greed! and stop hitting him on hook and nodding at him, you're giving dwight a shitload of time and your pop is ticking. fortunately for you the dwight is stupid and just walks into you which is gg. i would not have been so kind.

also, being nasty in postgame chat is just. stupid. don't do that. you want to improve on killer? don't let some dude piss you off so much that you waste a bunch of time and then insult him in postgame chat because he clicked a flashlight at you. you ######### up so much purely because you were busy BMing him and you won because his teammates weren't as good as he was.

    --------------------------------------------

game 5: the doctor is in

doctor is a killer that i actually play, so you get more specific and nuanced critique of the actual usage of the powers on top of general gameplay stuff. hooray for you!

off the bat, you static blast to lazily check a generator from 30m instead of just looking at it. it was pumping and making noise, you could've known someone was on it without static blast, and then used static blast to find where that person was more specifically. as it is, all you know is that someone was on it, which the generator itself could've told you. so, it's a misuse of info gathering. i know this is like ten seconds into the match but static blast is extremely important to use well. this could be the difference between finding her and not finding her. as it turns out, you don't find her, and it's probably because of this static blast.

your 2nd static blast finds noone. it's really important for you to use static blast to precisely locate where people are currently hiding, and not broadly locate where people are generally in the vicinity of. patrolling generators can take care of the broad strokes, static blast is for homing in on the precise stuff.

pay attention to the UI when you do this, because you can see survivors get madness even if they don't scream due to calm spirit. you should be doing something like

find active generator -> kick generator (you have brutal strength, use it!) -> static blast

if there's a scream, go to it. if there isn't a scream, but the UI changes to indicate someone's madness went up, it's a calm spirit user.

if there's no scream and no madness tier up, listen to the lockers to hear a survivor's breath inside of it. checking it actively makes too much noise, narrows your camera too much, and if you get it wrong, will allow a survivor to slip out of the locker and start hiding normally. do not give them that opportunity. use your ears.

your 3rd static blast, you're using mid chase. you know where the feng min is, she's there! you're chasing her! you are 2 gens down and you haven't even landed a single hit yet. the core thing to blame here is your usage of static blast and this is the 3rd static blast out of 3. i don't mean to harp on about this so much, but this is super important to playing doctor.

this is your 4th static blast. can you tell me what's wrong with it, based on what i've said so far?

    https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/441345780012285952/843475643157053460/unknown.png

basically, if i had to point to a single reason as to why your first down is during the endgame collapse, it would be complete misuse of static blast. i hope that this has helped you understand what doctor's strengths are. you only get the kills in this game that you get because the survivors are overly altruistic - if it were me, i would have just left you with the 1k. or perhaps they're trying to get the gnome? i'll admit, after the EGC starts i skipped ahead to the results of this one since it's pretty conclusive.

    --------------------------------------------

game 6: an apple a day

the next game is doctor again and it opens the same way, using static blast to cut corners on checking gens. i'm not going to hammer it in, since this is all prerecorded and there's literally no way for you to have acted on the critique that you have not received yet. basically, you know by now, and i know you know by now, so it's fine.

1:40:07 you lose track of the survivor here and, if i had to guess, i'd say that she Quick & Quiet'ed herself into that locker as soon as she turned the corner. survivor perk knowledge could have found her and gotten you your first down super quickly. remember, you're doctor, people want to jump into lockers a lot. you have discordance unlocked, do you also have iron maiden unlocked? i would equip that over third seal any day.

actually, watching the rest of the match and watching your horrible and evil plan come to full fruition, i change my mind. i would equip iron maiden over brutal strength. dude, this match looked like it was falling apart at the seams and then all of the sudden you'd won it. this was some gripping stuff, i hope you feel satisfied because i could not smell what the rock was cooking until he was feeding it to me. bravo. just, bravo. watching that survivor in the postgame chat flaming their teammates and then telling you to stfu was just... magnificent.

i do have to say that this only worked because claudette was the first one you slugged. either you actively chose to, or you got lucky, but empathy completely trumps knock out, so sealing her aura reading and making her unable to do anything was pivotal. this was partially great strategy on your part and partially them not cleansing third seal - that feng pushing the generator as the last one not slugged was just such a massive mistake, and her whole team died for it. gg as hell, dude. obviously she's the one flaming everybody too, because of course she is, lol.

    --------------------------------------------

ok, that's all i'm gonna watch for now. so, big tl;dr and conclusion:

think before you act! information misuse is your achilles heel. saw it a lot on billy, saw it a lot on doctor. on one, you were given info without controlling when you were getting it, on the other you had the choice when you were acquiring info, in either case you tended to make mistakes with it. have a plan, and if you don't have one, make one.

don't tilt! don't let survivors get your goat by clicking flashlights and being annoying. you mismanaged opportunities a couple times because someone was tilting you, to the point of insulting them in postgame chat. and don't do that either, it sucks! once the game's over, if you have nothing nice to say, just say gg and leave.

take the free m1's! this one's more for bubba than anyone else but if a survivor's in your mouth, bite! don't waste time snarling, just bite!

use your ears! don't check lockers with the spacebar, check them with your ears. pay attention to grunts of pain and footsteps.

and... probably the worst thing i'll say today... maybe look into upgrading your pc? i think your framerate was the thing hurting your billy the most out of everything that was going on. i know, i know, it's not something that can be easily helped and it's mean to point out, but if you want to play to win, i don't know if you can play billy with your framerate. if you wanna play for fun, that's totally fine, but if you're really looking to win more and play more competitively, i don't think you can play billy at a higher level like that. decisionmaking aside, you can make all the best decisions in the world, but if you miss easy saws because survivors are teleporting around on your screen, it won't matter how good the plan is.

What a nice person you are. Stay safe, buddy.

  • Stridor spirit evolves to Stidor + Predator Spirit? This already sounds like hell lol

Hey not my fault you choose to pay attention to negativity all I'm saying is you're gonna get some rage induced sad act telling you to die because his feelings got hurt over a flashlight save. Happens in all PvP games people just need to move on

I don't know how to put this nicely, but we have a lot of people who are "mentally unstable". When I see #########, I can ignore it or even make fun of it. Some people can't. I don't judge those people. I don't know what they're going through either. I just think that maybe it's not the worst idea to protect these people from negativity in a video game, especially when they turn on that game to get away from their problems. Even if it's just for the moment. And BHVR has already done that (sort of) by giving us the choice to close the chat function. The chat filter on the other hand was kinda ridiculous. Some quite normal things were censored.

  • I don't know how to explain it, but I like playing him. Do I get beaten up? Yes. Do I feel helpless most of the time? Yes. But spamming knives is kinda satisfying. I also like all the shenanigans that come with him (like his laugh).

  • Everyone uses BBQ for BP up to the point where it gets nerfed. I can't even image how many people would be mad. Personally I used BBQ for 2 reasons: BP + Tracking. If it only gave me BP, I probably wouldn't have used it. If it only gave me Tracking, I wouldn't have used it for sure. So the combination is nice, but those things alone are pretty unsatisfying. Also, BBQ is a win condition, right? 4 Stacks = Win.

Somehow I can't imagine people would really use this perk just for BP, but since BBQ has a lot of counterplay anyway, it's in a very good spot imo. I just wish WGLF was as useful and easy to get 4 stacks.

  • @Yords said:

It seems pretty underwhelming imo, I think it should do it automatically if the portal has not been used yet. That would be more worthy of a very rare addon. It is pretty easy to remember to just hold m2 randomly throughout the game.

The only thing the survivors can do about it is seal the portal and your idea is to get rid of that? Really? Or didn't you understand what this addon does? You don't need to hold M2. It gives you the killer instinct if the portal is active. You can activate a portal by using it once (traversing).

  • @Boss said:

    How good are we talking?

Is it "Rat Liver required" good?

    So far it gives you:

    • A "buffed" Discordance (since one person alone triggers it already)
    • A "buffed" version of Trill of the hunt (since you don't need to protect 2 totems, like in the most cases)

  • @glitchboi said:

I tried it in the PTB. It's pretty damn powerful. Place it under gens and you have built-in Discordance. Place it under totems and the survivor is forced to cleanse the portal before the totem can get cleansed.

Damn, didn't even think about totems.

  • Didn't buy the last one and this rift doesn't make it hard for me to resist either. Easy skip.

  • @Clevite said:

Yeah, I can't stand people that use an exploit.

And what is up with the comments vilifying you, and excusing their behavior. Is this what the forums are becoming?

Sorry you had to deal with this, good job countering these shameless exploiters.

I feel that the forums have always been like this. We have two sections fighting each other. Survivor/Killer Mains that pretend to play both roles equally, but show with their posts that they really don't. Sad.

  • "Lord forgive me", "I have sinned" - So at least the two have a sense of humor. I don't know why there isn't already a hotfix for this, but I'm also proud of the community that I've only encountered about 5-6 people/swf abusing this bug, especially since it's already very well known.

  • Can be, but most of the time it will be a wasted perk slot (if you are solo). With friends you can make unbreakable work much more times.

  • @Callisto_ said:

After playing him a bit, I like his design and gameplay element but him as an anti looper kinda killer feels unfair for survivors. A lot of the time it feels like me zoning the survivors with my power is better than using my actual power (punishment of the dammed), that isn’t very satisfying to me especially since landing his shockwave is WAY more pleasing than zoning and landing an m1. The shockwave is also way to risky to use in open areas since you have to ready survivor movement precisely and if you miss you suffer a whole flipping 3 second cooldown and at that point you’re literally just better off zoning with his power. I’m not really good with numbers but I’m hoping they’ll make him move slower when using rites of judgment but to compensate lower the cooldown of missed punishment of the damned, slightly increase the range and speed and make it leave trail of torment whenever you use it. This way it’ll give you an incentive to go for those satisfying predictions without betting it all and letting a survivor get away as well making it more fair to loop him as survivor.

I'm not even sure what it is, but he will get a nerf with the upcoming patch. I think it has something to do with canceling his power. He might not be able to pull off a simple hit after canceling his power anymore. Even though I play him a lot, I don't even bother reading the patch notes anymore. But if you're interested, you can take a look.

There shouldn't be a grind in the first place. It's an outdated relic from 2016. If I wanted to grind a lot then I'd just play Destiny or something. There shouldn't be levels in my opinion, if you have a character then you should just have their teachables unlocked already, no grind needed. They could just remove perks from the bloodweb and keep it purely for add-ons and offerings. They won't, but I wish they did. I'd love to try weird and wacky builds but I don't have the energy to grind for hours or even days to get the perks I want.

I disagree. If there wasn't something to grind for, this game couldn't survive. There's always something to do so people never feel like they're playing for nothing. They maybe could lower the grind by removing perk tiers, but that's it.

Pure m1 only and it's a living hell,

There is no sane way to even get it, Pure Insanity,

Good luck with the adept. You only need 3 unexperienced survivors and preferably a good map on top of that. It would help a lot if you are not in red ranks. Not only because the survivors might be better, but also because it's easier to double pip at lower ranks since you don't need full iridecent emblems there. I got my achievement on game number 27. The best matches are those where you do very well and the last survivor decides to dc or finds a key. Just try not to lose your mind, the rest will come by itself... at some point.

It's called an opinion. People said blight was bad too and he wasn't.

We had a lot of people who liked, even loved Blight back then. This is a different level. I feel like everybody hates Trickster equally.

  • I hope it is a bug. With windstorm basekit and the lunge he might be really fun (with addons).

  • I am trying to get my adept.. 110% movement speed and no power. Nice.

Yeah they did a good job, not a fan of the power though at all.

I am more impressed with the map atmosphere they had going there though, that was really cool. I wish we had stormy weather in DBD. The menu animations and sounds are great too.

I think he just used what he could use. This killer moves/stomps like Demo. His secondary attack is like Demo's killer instinct and his frenzy is basically Legion frenzy so I guess he is limited in his ability to create something new, but I like the concept ngl.

  • His design (how he looks) and laughs are so good, I'm genuinly disappointed that he's so weak.

  • Making Whispers Basekit is not the solution, but I know what you mean. When there are 2 survivors left and they both do nothing but hide, the game can be really frustrating. Sometimes you can find one of them in the basement hiding in a locker. The entity should help out in such cases, but I don't know how. But to be honest, it doesn't happen that often that the devs would care.

Solo queueing against players whom have mastered nurse seems like a hopeless match.

I’ve tried breaking line of sight, making as much distance as possible, being unpredictable however it seems it’s impossible for myself and random team mates to make any headway against nurses.

Most matches end with the nurse with around 20k points and survivors below 12k.

Is this a common experience or unfortunate matchmaking ?

A good nurse will always be terrifying, I guess. You don't really have to master her to beat almost any group there, you just have to be somewhat decent. Do you play nurse yourself? She is literally one of the 3-4 killers I play and I have a decent amount of hours on her so I know how a decent nurse thinks. This knowledge makes the chase a lot more fun and easier too.

  • @Yords said:

I just killed 4 survivors all using DS and 2 using unb + DS after they sent me to Haddonfield. 3 of them also were using 3 heal purple medkits and 2 people used BL. Luckily, they weren't exactly the best players.

But the whole match I was kicking gens when I could, keeping my chases at a medium length, made use of my power, and got several hooks but I only got "Ruthless killer". For the survivor adepts all you have to do is escape :/ So why can't killers get it with just a simple 4k?

Sometimes it is better not to use your power. That is how I got my adept with Billy and Plague. Also can't wait to get my adept with Trickster. Might be the most difficult one yet, but at least rank reset gives me hope.

  • Have we already reached a point where the game uninstalls itself?

You seem like a long time player and I've only played this game for 1 year or so. As I'm curious ill ask you, was this game better in 2016&2017 compared to now? I know a lot has changed.

I started 2017, like a month before Huntress was released I would say. I honestly think that this game has gotten MUCH better in terms of balance since then. I've always enjoyed both sides (Survivor and Killer), but the Killer experience wasn't as nice in the past. I know people still complain because they think killers are too weak, but compared to the past, the current state is like heaven. It is true that a lot has changed. Depending on the people you ask, you may get different answers about whether these changes were good or not. The Devs took a lot from the survivors in the last 4 years, but these changes were justified imo.

  • @Yords said:

No matter how infuriating this game is sometimes I keep coming back to it because it is so fun to me. Why is this a thing with this game lol? I would say it is the most hate and loved game at the same time.

I know this feeling. But tbh I haven't touched this game for two weeks now. This is the longest break I've taken so far. In the last 3 years I have played almost every day (usually 3-4 games per day). And now I'm not even thinking about coming back in the near future. It even scares me a little bit that I might be done with this game, considering how much fun I had with it in the past.

  • I have much more hope for a Resident Evil chapter. TLoU would be amazing, but Sony won't let it happen. Also.. Abby as survivor would be the right choice ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I just went up against a Spirit who was clearly hacking and I wasn't the only one to notice. She got 5 stacks of devour hope but we didn't even unhook enough times for her to get to 5 stacks. (one person even DCed) she probably had 3 stacks MAX but we got moried.

Her phasing made no sound while we were OUTSIDE her terror radius, but she blamed it on prayer beads but we were clearly OUTSIDE her terror radius so we should've been able to hear her phasing.

I reported her in game but I'm just wondering if that even does anything???

Just reporting someone ingame is not enough, as far as I know. They need video evidence.

  • It is mandatory to reduce the delayed hit of POTD, otherwise this will be a big nerf. I hate to see that they don't even know why people use his POTD mainly on palettes and windows. They mistakenly assume that people don't use M2 in other places because of the long cooldown.

  • I don't want to be rude or anything, but I have the feeling that they don't think too much before they change stuff. The reason people use POTD on windows/pallets is mainly because it's almost impossible to hit decent survivors if they're not stuck in the animation. They really need to reduce the delayed hit of POTD and everything will be fine. Especially statements like "we don't want to strengthen or weaken him" bother me when in the end it is a clear nerf.

  • Maybe they are afraid that something new (like a second objective) might break the game. Every innovation must harmonize with the existing variables.

  • What is the message of this thread? Console killers too good for you? Console killers are camping/tunneling way more? Console mates are worse than PC mates? I am confused.

  • What is actually wrong with hooks? I have played a lot of games since the patch was released, but I had no problems with hooking people.

  • They will change him. There is 0 doubt about that. I only hope that the change will not kill him, but honestly I don't have too much hope.

  • Guys, calm down. I am 100% sure that this is not intended. Report this and hope for the best.

Thank you guys for the ideas but did forget to mention only dlcs I have are darkness and lullaby. Honestly it will probably huntress because I think the blight is not good because it is just a feral frenzy speed buff, but still thank you. Ps heartbound I like the pokemon reference.

Blight is actually incredibly fun. He is pretty difficult to play, but so is Huntress.

  • Not now. He seems to be damn good with his 45° flick. More might just be too much.

  • The buff he needed so desperately!
