  • FOV would be nice, but I get why it's not an option, gameplay wise. The question is then why is strechted rez allowed, when it breaks a ######### ton of loops, by allowing survivors to see over things they otherwise wouldn't?

  • SWF isn't cheating. It is unfair for solos and killers through the devs refusing to buff solos up to SWF levels and balance the game around one survivor standard.

As for showing SWF in lobbies. Yeah I think that is a good idea. In the pre-game lobby survivors only should be able to see groups. For the end game, killers should see who is in both groups. Group hosts (which matchmaking uses for SWF matchmaking) should have a special leader icon next to the name.

Another QOL feature for lobbies/groups would be an ability to allow group leaders to invite other groups and solos in the same lobby into their group. Also the additon of in-game voice chat for SWF groups would be great for cross-platform groups. You can't really use Discord when using Switch for instance.

The point is Behaviour needs to stop ignorining the biggest balance issue in the game: the solo-SWF gap. They need to close it and start designing the game with groups as the norm. Like any other big multiplayer game. Their old intended idea for DBD with survivors unable to communicate or trust each other died years ago. Let the old die and embrace SWF devs.

  • I can't wait until they get rid of stretched resolutions, another exploit that console players can't do, by finally reworking their gamer's resolution code so it's not possible anymore. In return they can give us proper resolution, rendering, and FOV options. A win-win for everyone.

They put in the resources to redo their former spaghetti UI code, so I hope they will do the same with their resolution code.

  • Seeing the DBD Ghostface merch side by side with the Scream Ghostface merch makes me sad we never got Sidney and other Scream stuff. Maybe one day we'll get her.

I think we can just agree to disagree. I've never agreed with the notion that the game is survivor favored or killer favored, the game is balanced currently but people will NEVER admit to that because of their one sided entitlement or the fact that they just can't accept the fact that after they won 10 times in a row and lost a single match that the developers are X sided and only care about that one side.

One of the possible reasons why survivor queues are sometimes higher than killer queue times is matchmaking being matchmaking and pairing up people against more skilled people, resulting in frustration for that person. And about the whole unfun factor, that happens to both sides, Killers get tbagged and clicky's while survivors spend 2 minutes in a game before being booted back or sit on hook as they watch their teammates selfcare in a corner and a killer who refuses to leave the area. Both sides deal with BS, however my guess as to why Killers get angrier is probably one of the reasons you mentioned, the fact that Killer is a solo experience and as such you can't hang out with your buddy to make the experience sweeter.

*Optimization is a big problem in DBD, especially for consoles like the PS4, Switch, and Xbox 1. I won't argue, it's pretty dumb how BHVR still haven't optimized the game which causes huge issues for both sides, mainly for Killer recently.

*Talked about it earlier but its an issue that will probably never be solved because of how the game works, unless BHVR implement a 2v8 mode, but that will probably never happen with how slow they are to implement updates and how many problems are in the game. However, you don't need 4 other people to play Killer in custom games, I play custom games with 2 of my friends and the game works perfectly fine as long as we implement a couple of rules beforehand.

*Yup, there's a gap between solo and SWF, I won't argue against that. It's a hard problem to fix, but making a better tutorial for both sides will fix many of the frustrations and practice issues both sides have. However, I don't believe that it's SWF that's the big issue, but once again matchmaking. If a rank 20 killer and a rank 20 four man SWF go up against each other, it'll still be a mostly fair experience since both sides don't know what they are doing, but if a rank 16 killer goes up against a rank 10 four man SWF, then yeah, that will be unfair for the Killer since they don't know the game fully yet and despite the survivors also being relatively inexperienced will still probably win because they know more about the game.

*The Gen/Kill rush meta is something that will probably never be solved due to the nature of the game and its players. For example, a survivor looking for a casual experience repeatedly gets tunneled, camped, and slugged and learns quickly that they need to stick on gens and be extremely efficient, or they'll get sacrificed. Then that same survivor goes up against a killer, and during the match the killer who was looking for a fun casual experience quickly gets destroyed and suffers a defeat. That Killer then learns that in order to stand a chance, they'll need to camp, tunnel, and slug. Then that killer encounters a survivor who is looking for a casual experience, and you can guess the rest. This cycle then gets repeated multiple times and as a result people either are forced to use unfun strategies or just leave the game altogether.

*I heavily disagree with this point, when my friend first started playing DBD and got curious about Killer I decided to set up a couple of 1v1 custom games and managed to teach him the basics of DBD and even a couple of advanced tricks, and even though he's not perfect he managed to climb up the ranks quickly and even when going up against stronger teams usually ended the game with a 2k. People without someone to play custom games with are the people with the most issues, but this game be solved by offering a better tutorial or improving on custom games with bots.

Both sides have their fair share of issues that need solving, both sides will repeatedly get stupidly unfun games, but the reason why survivors stick around for longer is because they have friends to play with. With how people on both sides play this game and the nature of it, its a problem that is incredibly difficult to fix and with how the devs are will probably result in even more frustration if they try and fix it. But if they do some of the things you and I mentioned I do believe that DBD will improve on their queue times and overall improve the experience on both sides.

I too think the game is in its best balanced state. The issue with killer shortages is more of a unfun factor.

One of the possible reasons why survivor queues are sometimes higher than killer queue times is matchmaking being matchmaking and pairing up people against more skilled people, resulting in frustration for that person.

That's the thing MM is working as best it can with the imbalanced killer-survivor ratios. MM is meant to match a survivor with a killer with the same rank, but will expand the range of ranks +/-6. For SWF it uses the highest ranking survivor for MM. However if MM can't find a killer after a certain amount of time has past, it will put any killer within the lobby. The devs have made the gamble that players would rather have shorter queue times and imbalanced matches over longer queue times and balanced matches. It was probably the best choice in the short term, until they can make killer more attractive to others.

Friends indeed do make things less bad.

Optimization is a big problem in DBD, especially for consoles like the PS4, Switch, and Xbox 1. I won't argue, it's pretty dumb how BHVR still haven't optimized the game which causes huge issues for both sides, mainly for Killer recently.

The devs have if I'm being honest done horrible on this file. The platforms you mentioned have huge imbalances in the survivor-killer ratio towards survivors. Before crossplay you could end up waiting upwards of 15-30 minutes as a survivor in both low and high rank extremes. Fixing this alone would be huuuuge.

Talked about it earlier but its an issue that will probably never be solved because of how the game works, unless BHVR implement a 2v8 mode, but that will probably never happen with how slow they are to implement updates and how many problems are in the game. However, you don't need 4 other people to play Killer in custom games, I play custom games with 2 of my friends and the game works perfectly fine as long as we implement a couple of rules beforehand.

They don't need to add a 2v8 mode, which would add even more balance headaches when the solo-SWF gap hasn't even been closed. One idea would be to allow groups to specate one of their members play killer in a live match. So you get the social factor when playing killer. Maybe add role BP bonuses for when one side is not being played much. Imagine if all these 3 and 4 person SWF groups spectated a member play killer every 3 or 4 matches. Would cut down on survivor wait times a bit. I doubt it would do much (going by the limited effect of lootbox role rewards in OW), but it'd help a bit.

As for playing custom games, they will never fill the role of playing real matches, because they do nothing for the grind.

Hard disagree. The solution to the gen/kill rush meta is to finally give solos QOL buffs to allow them to match SWF in terms of info and coordination. Here's what they could do:

    • Totem counter in the hud
    • The survivor portairt glows with a special effect when the killier is camping them
    • Action status (gen repair, cleansing totem, chests) for all survivors in their UIs
    • Chase indicators for all survivors in the hud
    • Allowing survivors to see whose in a group in the lobby
    • Allowing solos and 2 man SWF to join an other group
    • In game voice chat for SWF groups of crossplay players

Then you can radically change how generators work. Have it so their base time is increased to 100 seconds, but now their are gen parts or gas cans hidden around the map. Installing one of these parts lowers the base time to repair a gen by 40 seconds. There is 1 part for every gen. This would encourage survivors to exlpore the map more, then just camp gens, and be rewarded with 60 second gens. But in doing so they allow the killer more chances to get into chases with survivors. A win-win for both sides.

As for slugging, all survivors should have a base ability to lift themselves up when downed. But have it so they can only use it 3 times. As of right now, slugging is hell for solos but still manageable with SWF. This would equalize it somewhat.

Tunneling can be addressed by the camping indicator I mentioned and a new base survivor mechanic: Survivors can hold there breath for a few seconds to not make any injured or healthy running noises. Once the 5-10 seconds are up, the ability goes on a 30? second cooldown and they let out a loudish gasp of air. Would allow unhooked surivvors an easier time to avoid tunneling killers and add more depth to a chase by making jukes and mindgames more possible for survivors. Iron Will would have to be changed, but that's for the good as it's a problematic perk anyways. One of the games many band-aid perk that were created to solve an issue (tunneling killers) that should have been solved through core gameplay mechanics.

I heavily disagree with this point, when my friend first started playing DBD and got curious about Killer I decided to set up a couple of 1v1 custom games and managed to teach him the basics of DBD and even a couple of advanced tricks, and even though he's not perfect he managed to climb up the ranks quickly and even when going up against stronger teams usually ended the game with a 2k. People without someone to play custom games with are the people with the most issues, but this game be solved by offering a better tutorial or improving on custom games with bots.

1v1 or 1v2 or custom game matches will never match the fun factor of a live match with 5 people. Hence why most ignore custom games. They usually don't have enough people to play a full match and even if they did, there is no reward to do so. The grind in this game is something else and custom games do nothing in a player's struggle to defeat it.

I agree on your points of adding bots, like how it is in mobile, and a better tutorial. Which is also vastly improved on mobile funny enough. Mboile is on a unrelated note also more optimized and has done things to adress the grind. Funny that.

An idea I had for custom games was adding a custom game browser. Like what OW and Halo: MCC has. So players could create a lobby with a unique name/ruleset and others could join it. So someone learning to play Huntress could create a lobby called "Practising Huntress Shots" and strangers could chose to help them out.

I hope so too. The 5th anniversary would be a great time for anything more some much needed news on the this front and other pressing issues like the solo-SWF gap and the awful grind. DBD has been getting better with each year since the Clown chapter marked the begining of the end of the disastrous first 2 years imbalance. So here's to another year of improvements!

How are the devs oversupplying survivor players? Recently we've just gotten a nerf and a rework for two of the most complained about perks, DS and OoO. Queue times for survivor at night are high but during the morning it switches around and killer takes longer to load in while survivors are instant. And the reason why lower ranked killers are sometimes being ranked up with higher ranked survivors is because of how lobbies function. If a killer leaves a lobby then the game tries to find a killer as quick as possible for that lobby which involves getting a killer from a lower rank.

The devs aren't oversupplying survivor players on purpose. It's more of an accident. Player populations peak during the evenings and that's when survivors face lengthy queue times and killers almost instant queue times. Which means the game has more people survivor than is needed right now. The question is why?

Now some might say who cares? But the issue is it's forcing newer and more casual killers into matches against high rank survivors, which increases the difficulty and unfun factor of the game for them. Faced with such difficulty in what is meant to be a casual party game, many leave or stick to survivor. Only compounding the killer shortage.

For me the biggest reason why a large chunk of DBD players refuse to play killer regurarly are as follows:

    • Optimization hurting killers more. On low end platforms/hardware killers suffer with more consistent FPS drops than survivors. It's why 360s were so common a tactic against console killers before crossplay. It was easy to pull off when killers saw their game turn into a slideshow when survivors got close to them.
    • The lack of social element with killer. People like to play with their friends and if you want to play killer with your friends you have to have 4 other friends available to do so. Plus unlike survivors who can earn bloodpoints, dailies, rift challenges, and shards from playing with friends, killers are forced into custom games where no progress is earned.
    • Their is a difficulty whiplash that comes from the solo-SWF gap. A casual killer who first starts out against uncoordinated solos will learn to play the game at a more slower pace with more mistakes. But then they start getting matched against SWF and they suddenly start doing terrible. The game gives them no warning if they are going against SWF or solos. So they are then forced to tryhard and sweat every match just in case. Which turns off people looking for fun matches that don't force everyone to sweat. A lot of people get into this game to roleplay playing their favourite horror icons, but DBD's current gen/kill rush meta scares off a lot of those killer players.
    • No easy way to train as killer. Survivors can join up with a friend who can show them the ropes, but killers are all alone. The only way for killers to get help is through custom games and as I mentioned in point 2, that requies having 4 other players on hand to help you.

Honestly besides a few killers (Trapper, Myers, Depipster, Pig) killers are not as weak as they were in the past. The issue is killer is not fun for too many people and in the long run this will hurt DBD. High rank survivors will only endure long ass queue times for so long before leaving the game.

The killer shortage is problem of people not having fun and I do think addressing my 4 points will make killer fun.

Why are you reworking the texture of the characters and maps but not the hitboxes ? For people who say hitboxes are normal do you think they are realistic ? In an FPS game the hitboxes are realistic, while in DBD your hitbox is the size of Russia.

A more releastic hitbox would eat up more computer processing. Considering how poorly optimized DBD is that's not a good idea right now.

So I noticed that when I play survivor in the morning queue times are Superfast (Approximately 30 seconds in Solo Queue) (I'm rank 4 btw)

But when I play killer in the morning Killer times are like (Approximately 5 minutes)

Then in the night time queue times for survivor are (Approximately 5 minutes when I'm playing in a Duo) and I get killers that sweat super hard and make the game not fun at all, and I get about 4,005 BP and every other teammate gets a super low amount of BP and I get a lot of DC's every game because of those killers.

Matchmaking times need to be fixed

More people play the game in the evenings and weekends. Most people play survivor by a large margin. Hence your issue with queue times and imbalanced MM ranks.

The only way to fix it would be to increase the amount of people playing killer.

  • Xenomorph, Candyman, Pinhead, Chucky, Slenderman, and Sadako/Samara are by far my most wanted.

For smaller characters that could work as legendary skins I'd like to see Angela Baker (Legion) and Negan (Trickster).

I don't think it's him from his Vietnam days. Looks too old. I think this is a military skin from the 1980s or 1990s. The vest and sunglasses gives me heavy Gulf War vibes.

What... in the hell... is Jill wearing, dude she looks like she came from a superhero comic, that's not RE at all! ( FYI I'm talking about the bottom image not the top one, the top one looks good.) I'm happy I never played RE 5, if that what the series was becoming, if I was playing a horror game looking like that, I wouldn't have been scared of Nemesis in the slightest. It makes me happy RE 7 existed in the first place

The best way I could describe the RE series between 5 and 7 is COD with anime tropes. ######### was crazy.

Could you do me a favour and wait for a reply before continuing to ask the same questions across several discussions. I have answered this question but was halfway through typing it when you posted here. Cheers bud :)

Thank you for your reply, it is appreciated. I have thought about this already though.

You could continue to offer full BP to killers. This along with the fact that rank won't be affected should lead to killers wanting to get most of their practice on Casual. There is no drawback for killers on casual, except that you may end up in a sweaty game.

I do think this would help to balance the game more though. The Devs would then have stats that reflected more accurately the current state of the game and of SWF perks, e.g. Object of obsession.

I don't know if you heard the dev Ethan saying that he didn't think OoO was that OP because according to the stats, players with OoO don't escape that often. It's these kinds of misconceptions that could be overcome if they had accurate data from those who play SWF.

The devs know who play SWF and can collect data from them. They're stubborn though and refuse or take their slow ass time to add QOL survivor buffs that help close the SWF-solo gap. They're stuck on this original vision of survivors not acting as a coordinated squad but instead being mute strangers who switch between teamplay and self interest.

All they need to do to is the following:

    1. Survivor loadouts and groups can be seen by all survivors in the lobby.
    2. Survivors can invite other survivors in the pre-game lobby or the endgame into their group.
    3. SWF groups all have in-built VC for crossplay groups.
    4. A totem counter is added to the UI.
    5. All survivors get a chase indicator, with the obsession having a unique looking one.
    6. Little icons for cleansing totems, repairing gens, healing, and searching chests, etc. appear next to survivor portraits in the UI when performing said action.
    7. When a killer is camping a hook, an icon appears next to a survivor indicating this.

With the gap now closed, the devs could then radically alter generators:

    • Generators now only take 50 seconds instead of 80 seconds to complete.
    • But now survivors need to find 1-3 parts for each gen before they can repair them.
    • The parts are hidden around the map. This would encourage more interaction between killer and survivors.
    • Killers kicking a gen now removes 5% progression.

  • Console players who play on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S for sure can match the skill of PC players. But for those on last gen consoles and Switch? lol No. They are handicapped by the terrible optimization that is DBD's codebase. Especially killers.

It's not just last gen console players suffering from poor optimization, so to are players on low end PCs.

  • It's true. By the time of CH20 we will have the following IPs in DBD. And it would not surprise me if Dead Rising, Candyman, and The Walking Dead join them by the end of this year.

    • Halloween
    • Left 4 Dead
    • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
    • Nightmare on Elm Street
    • Saw
    • Evil Dead
    • Ghost Face
    • Stranger Things
    • Silent Hill
    • Crypt TV
    • Resident Evil
  • Nemesis. Has the most power potential with his flamethrower, RPG, tentacles, and brute strength and he looks unique. Plus MCote's 2020 New Year Eve's message about the anniversary is now an obvious tease for not just getting the likeness of Tapp, Laurie, and Quentin but a tease for Nemesis:

"Obviously, I can’t tell you what’s next but I can say that we are not done surprising you. We are working on a lot of new stuff for you and I can already tell you that our 5th year anniversary event will feature some impressive stars that will blow your minds."

Stars being a reference to Nemesis saying "STAAARRRSSS" and "blow your minds" to his rocket launcher.

y'know the more I think about it....why are we not getting Robin? I mean, they basically had the perfect chance to add a gay character, and have it make complete and total sense in every aspect....and just like...dodged it but put Johnathan Byers in? I don't get it really tbh.

Robin will probably come in the next chapter patch or mid-chapter patch as a legendary Nancy skin with Steve's Season 3 vest outfit he wore at the end of season when him and Robin were applying for jobs at the movie rental place.

  • SWF can stay. I just want Behaviour to then buff solos up to their level, so they can finally start making big balance/gameplay changes. Gen rush, camping, slugging, hooks, and tunneling will never be addressed in a big way (adding perks doesn't count) until they no longer have to balance for two very different survivor standards. 4 solos not running kindred and 4 person SWF teams with voice chat. You simply can't balance a game like that.

  • As long as the chapter is Candyman or Child's Play I'm good. I know if we get one, we'll get the other. Universal needs to be in this game. They have a ######### ton of horror IP they can let DBD play with:

    • Candyman
    • Child's Play
    • The Thing
    • Happy Death Day
    • Purge
    • Dracula
    • Frankenstein
    • Wolfman
    • Creature from the Black Lagoon
    • Invisible Man
    • Mummy
    • Halloween (2018) & Halloween Kills
    • Get Out
    • Us
    • Tremors
    • Jaws

  • But to go back to the main topic, Scott's opinions on DBD are for the most part sensible. The only issue with him is his stans who treat him as the only unbiased or intelligent DBD creator figure.

  • Nurse, Spirit, and Freddy would be the finalists as they're undead beings with supernatural powers. You cant' kill them.

Matchmaker, at least as the developers intended it, looks for people within ideally 6 ranks of each other. So I guess the rank 1 shouldn't be there, I missed that one originally, but the other 3 technically are still in that "okay" zone.

Again though, the matchmaker is hot garbage and so is the ranking system. None of it actually works and even if you had everyone in a game the same rank it could still be wildly unfair because rank is only a very vague sense of things.

    @Seraphor said:

MM can only do so much. If there were no red rank killers in queue at the same time they were, who is it going to match them with?

It's 'correct' because it went down to purple... instead of yellow.

These posters are all correct. MM will try to fill lobbies will everyone of the same rank, if it can not do that it instead expands the range of ranks +6 or -6. As SWF uses the highest rank for MM that would mean this group would be matched with killers between the ranks of 1-7.

However if the MM can not find a killer within the +/-6 rank range it will expand the lobby to any ranked killer to ensure people don't have lengthy queues. As the devs have explained in a recent dev stream, their is not enough killers, particular red/purple rank killers, playing during peak hours (evenings, weekends) when all the SWF groups play. So hence why mismatched lobbies are so common.

The only way to fix this is to get more people playing killer at peak hours. As they will never put a hard 6 rank limit on MM as that would force surivors to have 10-30 minute wait times all the time at peak hours.

  • The blank spaces could be filled with the same amount of cells but in shards instead. So 25 and 50 shards.

  • Behaviour knows an old woman survivor wouldn't be received well from both the gamer dudebros and Twitter stans. Hence why we will sadly never get one.

They could at least offer a variety in ages. Not have all of them be in their 20s, early 30s.

Zariinia is in her 40s but that's it. And I guess Jane is in her mid 30s. But they know young sexy women sell to both the duebro crowd and the Twitter stan crowd. Whereas older woman would piss off both groups.

I'll be shocked if we ever get a clearly older woman survivor within the next year.

    no I don't

Saw fits in DBD because its a slasher flick,

Demogorgon fits in DBD because in the series it was already the minion of a shadow monster so how is the entity different?

Silent hill was a stupid premise to begin with, because traffic cone head is just the protagonists own guilt and self loathing made manifest, but hey its still beholden to some higher darkness albeit the darkness in the protagonist's head, so it fits in DBD.

From a hive building behaviourally insectiod alien race, what is its motivation to hook survivors in service of the entity? It makes no sense and doesn't fit themtaically in what DBD has crafted.

Yes you could horse shoe it in but it would feel forced, just by the very nature of how in depth they have built up the xenomorph in terms of backstory.

You are welcome to disagree but do better than that.

The Xenomorph doesn't fit in DBD but it's okay to see it use guns and dance? Sure Jan. /s

Alien and Aliens are among my top favorite movies but I just dont see them fitting well in the game honestly. It would be weird seeing them hook, walk around, get hit with pallets, etc that I just dont think they would fit well.

I think predator fits so much better honestly since they also hook people and their movement would be much more natural. They seem like a more likely candiate to me

Disney/Fox let Epic Games make the Xeno use guns, stand upright at all times, and do a bunch of emotes. From dancing to silly poses.

And yet you think Alien couldn't fit in DBD? Okay then.

I understand that it's just a video game and it's all just to have fun with famous slashers. But you need to understand that Nemesis, Pennywise, Mr X, Jason Vorhees, Pinhead and a big chunk of slashers in other media would be way too over the top to be added in the game. I've said this almost 3 times now, added Nemesis and Pennywise as killers is like adding Spiderman and Doomguy as survivors. The excuses like "oh make him shorter!" Or "oh make him weaker!" Are fundamental changes that would make the characters look ridiculous in the game. Even if they got them added in, DBD would never do them justice.

Spider-Man and Doomguy would be silly in DBD, yes. Not because of their power levels or logic, but because they're not horror characters. DBD is the Smash Brothers of Horror. So of course they wouldn't fit. But Nemesis and Pennywise? Oh hell yes.

It's why Smash can add Minecraft's Steve and Final Fantasy's Sepirtoth back to back without issue while fan picks like Goku and Shrek will never happen. Smash is a silly game, but it's still a homage to video games only.

  • DBD is a fun casual party game and a homage to horror. Not some serious cinematic story based video game. It's not meant to be taken seriously. All of those characters you say will never come to DBD because of your 'rules' and 'logic' will all someday be in this game if Behaviour had their way. Jason, Pennywise, and Pinhead are MCote's 3 most wanted killers. If you think Behaviour isn't going to add them or Chucky, Nemesis, and an Xenomorph you're crazy.

You people in here sound like those annoying Smash fans going on about fan-rules as if they're law.

  • As a special double survivor DLC, then sure. Or legendary skins for David or Felix.

But a full on chapter? No. Supernatural doesn't have any iconic killer candidates with unique looks.

  • If y'all watched the dev Q&A today they admitted the lengthy queues for survivors at evenings was because of their not being enough killers for how many survivors are in lobbies. They also said the MM is working normally. The issue is that with not enough killers that are needed the MM system will after a period of time put any killer into a lobby to ensure survivors don't wait too long.

    Hence the rainbow lobbies.

  • Finally. ######### finally. Great job devs!

  • As it stands right now SWF matchmaking doesn't use the average rank of the group, but the rank of the highest ranking survivor in the group for matchmaking. I presume it would use the MMR of the survivor with the highest MMR when we switch from ranks over to MMR for matchmaking.

🤮 No. Just no. Chucky is the best.

It wouldnt be absurd but rather an insult and belittleing to Jill. Shes tough, well trained, been in many games of a high quality. She is an A grade character.

Bill and Ash are B grades. They fit as survivors in DBD.

Bill is a one hit wonder and Ash is that guy from that early 80s movie with the rapey tree.. B grades

    @Okapi

lol Ash has a ton of combat experience. He's no slouch. The whole point of the Evil Dead story is that Ash, being an average idiot, became the chose one. Earth's protector against the demonic hordes.

  • @Pirscher said:

The main RE cast are too good to be a survivor in this game.. the idea of Jill looping a killer around a pallet seems a bit sad..

I'd rather they use the Outbreak characters like Kevin, Cindy, Mark, Alyssa - they fit the DBD survivor profile well.

Or, sub characters like Billy, Richard, Steve

Jill looping a killer would be nowhere near as absurd as Bill or Ash looping a killer. So I say who cares? DBD is the horror hall of fame and doesn't have to make sense, like Smash is for video games.

From all the rumors that have been circling around, I’m going to just go out on a limb here and say we are going to get two licensed chapters back to back. Which, I don’t mind whatsoever because I prefer the licensed chapters over the originals personally. As to what either of those chapters could pertain too, well, I think one of them will be the ever so highly speculated Resident Evil chapter. :D

RE:Verse is the "multyplayer mode" for RE: Village, I HIGHLY doubt that people won't buy RE:VIII just because of a collaboration with DBD.

Yes. In the same stream they announced a RE crossover with The Divison. They've already done a crossover with PBUG and Smash too.

The former two are shooters like RE:Verse. DBD is obviously not a shooter. RE:Resistance is dead. I see no reason why RE can't come to DBD next roadmap as the anniversary chapter or another chapter.

Guy's hear me out what if we add subtitles next?

That'd be weird. 90% of the subtitles would be "sexual moaning," "screaming," "groovy" and "random Akkadian cursing."

There's a big difference in Silent Hill and Resident Evil though. Konami single handedly butchered Silent Hill into the ground then cancelled PT/Silent Hills, so Silent Hill was pretty much dead meaning DbD could purchase the rights to use it. Resident Evil is far from dead, since it's had 2 remakes, and yes, Re:Resistance did fail, but with a new multiplayer game coming out, it seems unlikely that they'd give their characters to another game when they'd want to keep them for their own. I mean, I'd love to be wrong because I love Resident Evil and seeing it in DbD would be amazing. I was taken back when PH and Cheryl were announced, so here's hoping the same happens this year.

The new game is a hero shooter (think OW, Apex, TF2) deathmatch thing. It's nothing at all like DBD.

  • @Jarol said:

They recently confirmed that Resident Evil: Village will be released on May 7, 2021, just hovering around the dates of an official trailer and the fifth anniversary, I think it is more than clear and confirmed that it will be yes or yes the fifth anniversary chapter and not Candyman or Chucky.

Candyman has a movie coming out this year and Chucky a TV show. The 3rd Conjuring film's release date is only 10 days before DBD's 5th anniversary. So RE isn't the only franchise to have a special date this year.

    @DeadHardMan said:

You really think so? Capcom also announced a multiplayer Resident Evil game called "RE: Verse". I extremely doubt Capcom will want to license their IP out during that time.

Resident Evil Re:Verse is a Overwatch hero deathmatch shooter and looks nothing like DBD. RE:Resistance was Capcom's attempt at a DBD-clone and it failed. They stopped updating it last fall.

Plus in the same stream where Re:Verse was revealed, right after Re:Verse they announced a crossover with The Division. So I wouldn't rule out a RE chapter just yet.

The real sticking point against a RE chapter would be MCote's comments in DBD's New Years message saying the Anniversary would be filled with bomshell stars. Which implies famous actors from films/TV.

  • The killer would be Nemesis, the map would be Racoon City Police Department, and there would be two survivors: Jill and Leon. Claire and Chris would be legendary skins.

  • @Viberum said:

Being a killer on consoles is really hard. I already bought some killers and survivors and would like my to transfer my save to PC to play better. Would the developers do this in the future?

They want to, but it's not up to them. They need Sony and Microsoft's approval first. Cross-saves are already implemented between Steam and Stadia with Switch being added soon.

  • The next chapter is going to be OG.

The anniversary chapter is a 3-way race between Candyman, Child's Play, and Resident Evil.

Either way, Candyman is happening this year. Tony Todd teased it heavily in spring of last year.

Hellraiser, Alien, FT13, and IT are not happening sadly due to legal reasons and/or being declined. MCote has disconfirmed all of them multiple times.

  • If only there was a way to change solos so as to bring them up to the level of SWF. Like how they are now adding hook counters to the UI. Or when they blocked the killer's loadout in the endgame screen, thereby equalizing solos and SWF info on the killer. Orv them adding the obsession chase indicator.

You know QOL changes like a totem counter, chase indicators for all survivors and making kindred base kit.

    But alas I guess not...

  • No MMR is not on. The reason MM is messed up right now is because there's not enough high rank (red/purple) killers for how many high rank survivors there are. Which at peak playing times (evenings and weekends) causes imbalanced matches and lengthy survivor queues.

i didn't even notice that, thank god that massive gap is getting smaller

The survivor icon glows orangey red when being chased. It's a nice touch.

  • Don't forgot the new HUD not only has hook indicators but shows which survivor is being chased for all survivors. These two changes represent a huge buff for solos. Finally we're seeing the SWF-solo gap get smaller.
