People who use dead hard to dodge an attack are using dead hard wrong most of the time. It's a perk to correct looping mistakes or just simply extend the loop to a window.Exactly. DH is my favourite exhaustion perk.
@Milo said:
I like Balanced Landing cause it makes the previous not loopable areas and dead zones avaible for you as surv.I like DH best, but this is a good summary why BL is close second. You can do loops that you couldn't otherwise.
Imho DH and BL help more with looping than Lithe. Sprintburst is a waste of time since you have to walk all the time so that you don't use it up.

Not for everyone, but for the majority of people the chase is the fun part.
If the devs would put more focus on stealth, this game wouldn't be DbD anymore and a lot of people would quit playing it.
Well for some looping is the greatest but for others it's not and they could give stealth much more support so both types of players on both sides could enjoy it. I mean some killers complain about looping now but if stealthy play keeps getting whacked/not supported loopers are going to be 100% more common.
There are Hide & Seek video games without the looping mechanic but these games are nowhere as popular as DbD. Of course, there are people that like stealth play, but it's not the majority.
If the devs were to put focus on stealth, they would lose more players than gain new ones.
I'd prefer that.
Looping was not part of Dead by Daylight for well over half a year after release. To claim that looping is a core mechanic is false. Even the devs call it an unintended way to play the game.
Looping was not intended when the game was developed but you can't deny that looping became a core mechanic of the game. Nowadays, the devs would not say that survivors are not supposed to loop. When it comes to map changes like pallets and windows, it's about looping since it became an essential part of the game.
You don't have to believe it but if DbD had stayed a stealth game it wouldn't have become that successful.
-
Most of us agree that gens are done too fast. There are 2 options: Increase gen time or add another objective for survivors.
I believe the devs are thinking into the direction of adding another objective. The Halloween event has been kind of an experiment.
I guess the problem is there isn't a good enough concept yet for an objective. We had some discussions here in the forum what such an objective could be, but an ideal objective hasn't been found yet.

Reworking a @JawsIsTheNextKiller idea, who deserves sincere congratulations for the intuition, one week a month Dead by Daylight could become an open-air laboratory to test the feasibility and enjoyment of substantial gameplay reforms.I refer to reforms that do not require much programming effort (otherwise it would be unfair to expect our beloved developers to dedicate time and resources for ephemeral changes, destined to disappear in a week), but able to revolutionize the balance at stake, to challenge old certainties, to accustom players to review their strategies with a benevolent curiosity towards the new.
You greatly, greatly underestimate the effort that such a monthly test would require. I will say it directly: As interesting as it would be, it is completely unrealistic.

Do I really have to spell out the word "sarcasm" in every post I use it in so people like you get it? Talk about embarrassing posts lmfao.
DO YOU KNOW THAT IT'S REALLY HARD TO CONVEY SARCASM IN WRITING. Even professional writers have a hard time doing it. Hell, I remember watching a Stephen King interview and he said he doesnt do it cause it's often lost. It should be common knowledge to everyone of what a poor literary idea it is to do it.
And by the way, no, I dont think you meant it as sarcasm. It's so easy to turn around and say, "Sarcasm ...." It's a natural defense to so many things while turning it on an attack of the other person. No, im not buying it because this "sarcasm joke" was so bad it doesnt even qualify as something to be construed as a joke. There is no way you are living this down. There is nothing you can say. Just move about your merry life and stop using sarcasm in writing, or sadder, pretending to.

If the survivor knows how to run, the killer will often only catch up to him after 4/5 gens are done.
Conclusion: Map design should be reworked by either swapping pallets for windows or by creating more mindgame opportunites around pallets.
Or improve stealth. The map is too bright and staying hidden or losing line of sight is quite difficult.
I've suggested darker maps and more stealth options but then the P3 Claudette and not wanting to have to play a stealth game complaints come up.

Noed is that one perk that changes a games end. A killer could get like 0 hooks the entire game and lose all chases, but wait a minute! Hes got Noed! Now he gets the full 4 man cuz of that speed buff and one hits.If all survs were still alive and well and NOED turned it into a 4k, then that's a well deserved 4k since the survs must have messed up pretty bad.

That's just my opinion, for me it's boring. I would be surprised if anyone has fun with the current endgame mechanics. Both, exit gates and hatch.First, there is a difference between "boring" and "unfun". I wouldn't say at all that the endgame is boring. The not-so-exciting parts of the match are repairing gens as a surv and looking for survs as a killer.
And "unfun"? No, not at all. It's an intense interaction between survs and killer.
Maybe you mean that the current endgame is frustrating for killers that don't have 1-shot-ability since it can be quite difficult securing a kill with open gates?
(I'm leaving the hatch issue out of the discussion. I believe most of us agree that the hatch needs a rework.)

Jigsaw Boxes have an exponential algorithm for the chance of finding the key. The chance starts at 5%, then 10%, then 20%, 40%, and so on.
NOTE: No matter what, the final Jigsaw Box will have a 100% chance of finding the key, trumping the algorithm.So there is vaguely a chance of 65% that the surv has to search 4 or more boxes? Did you think about these numbers and consider them balanced?
What happens if the linked survivor isn't in a chase but downed or hooked?
Do you consider a hatch escape also as "escaping the trial" or do you only refer to exit gates?

Yes, ranking up is too easy. But with the still-current matchmaking system (to be replaced with a new one soon), it's kind of a necessity. If there weren't a lot of high rank players, those people who belong in the high ranks would have too long lobby waiting times.

Also, it would probably lead to killers not leaving survivors with medkits on the ground (similar to No Mither users) and/or killers dodging lobbies if they see medkits.Bottom line: It would not bring more fun to the game.
They already dodge lobbies they don't feel like entering. They're more likely to bring franky's honestly.

Seriously, this addon is busted. Getting free grabs at gens is stupid af. Takes 0 skill to use and has an reward like NOED. Even more than noed, cuz u don't even waste time chasing.
Prayer beads, while absurdly strong, do still require skill as you can't see the survivor so you have to guess between 1-4 placements where the survivor you're trying to grab is.
Survivors have collision, you know exactly on which position they are sitting. It isn't skill.
I agree with OP on that, Prayer Beads in its current state is not o.k. The only "counter" would be to gen tap and that's of course out of the question. Make the Walk more quiet but not completely silent.
I main Spirit and have no issues fighting one using them, it's all about situational awareness when facing her really. I've never been surprise grabbed of a gen by one using them yet and you can watch for grass moving etc.
I don't main Spirit but I've played her, of course. When I wanted to surprise-grab someone, I simply didn't walk through grass and avoided being in LOS to the survs. Worked well. (I'm using past tense since the grabbing is buggy at the moment, as most people probably know.)

No, if you are working on a gen, you can't. As a survivor, you feel the collision when you are walking/running into her, but you don't sense anything if you are currently on a gen.

This.
I'm sure it's not a bug. It seems as if there simply is a lack of people wanting to play killer.
I play both killer and survivor and get lobbies instantly as a killer. As a survivor, I have to wait a couple of minutes.
If this problem continues to exist, the devs would need to do something to make playing killer more attractive.
I think there's an issue. I can get a lobby within the first minute and after that match being forced to wait 10 minutes or more. Doesn't make much sense.
We know that the still-current matchmaking system is not perfect (and will soon be replaced by another system).
If there is an open lobby available and you fit perfectly as a survivor (rank-wise etc.) then you might get into that lobby within seconds (and others who wait longer but don't fit so well don't get that open spot).I'm talking about the observation that survivor waiting times are in general much longer than those for killers. That heavily indicates that there are not enough killers at the moment.

@NoShinyPony The fact is no one uses it, like the old Surveillance.
Yes, but if only a small amount of people plays hard mode, then that doesn't mean that hard mode should be nerfed. It simply means that people don't want to play a mode that is too difficult for them.I know I am repeating myself but: We are not talking about a useful perk, we are talking about hard mode! Why would a player want to nerf a hard mode instead of seeing it as a challenge or simply ignoring it?
If you want hard mode, then you should stay injured all the trial with blood and grunts: what is the function of No Mither?The function of No Mither is being the hard mode. There is no other function. The devs could give bonus bloodpoints but I don't see the point in why a hard mode should be made less hard. If it's too difficult, then don't play it,
It reads like what you are looking for is basically Unbreakable that you can use more than once.
Maybe I'm not able to explain myself.
If you want to play in hard mode, you can do it at will, you don't need a perk to have it:
1) find the killer;
2) let them hit you;
3) continue the trial remaining injured;
4) you leave pools of blood and emit grunts of pain;
5) you cannot fully recover from the dying state.
Instead, No Mither hard mode is easier, because you don't leave blood, your grunts are halved and you have a fictitious (because the killer won't leave you on the ground, knowing you run that perk, unless they are idiot) hope to fully recover from the dying state.
It's not easier. With No Mither, you start injured and the killer knows you are running it so it's more likely that you get tunneld.
If you compare it to Speed Limiter: As I mentioned above, the devs could add a bonus bloodpoint function.

Some perks can also be helpful: Premonition, Spine Chill, Empathy, Alert, OoO, maybe some others too.These perks don't necesseraly help against that add-on. Also, why should survivors need to bring a certain perk just to counter a completely unbalanced add-on?
Run empathy, for the love of all things holy. Not even just vs spirit, it will improve your map awareness a thousand fold the second that someone gets tagged. You will know where the killer's vicinity is, you will know which way they are likely going by seeing where the injured survivor goes (and consequently, as they do things like throw down pallets, you will have confirmation,) and you can play m1 simulator to your heart's content. As a bonus you can even rotate around the map to be as far away from the chase as possible if you're too much of a coward to stay in one place.
I used to play with Empathy a lot, now I don't anymore. I don't know where you got the idea that I would like to play gen simulator far away from trouble. You couldn't be more wrong.

for the record I absolutely hated the update to the beads until I tried the spirit out, now it feels like the same area as something like mint rag on the hag: really good, but not busted. You'd have more validity complaining about things like being able to pair iridescent heads and the highest tier belt on the huntress.The huntress still needs to throw correctly. That is different to a free grab.

Well, it goes both ways, of course. A killer should not have to bring certain perks to make up for other certain unbalanced things in the game... but this is a thread about specific add-ons and I don't want to derail.

How about we first buff useless addons of other killers?The useless add-ons need to be buffed/reworked, of course. That doesn't mean that a completely unbalanced add-on should stay in the game longer than necessary.

the total silence has to go.
No. It's fun for both killer and survivors. Just needs balancing.
Well, I wouldn't consider a free grab/hook fun.

@NoShinyPony The fact is no one uses it, like the old Surveillance.
Yes, but if only a small amount of people plays hard mode, then that doesn't mean that hard mode should be nerfed. It simply means that people don't want to play a mode that is too difficult for them.
I know I am repeating myself but: We are not talking about a useful perk, we are talking about hard mode! Why would a player want to nerf a hard mode instead of seeing it as a challenge or simply ignoring it?
If you want hard mode, then you should stay injured all the trial with blood and grunts: what is the function of No Mither?
The function of No Mither is being the hard mode. There is no other function. The devs could give bonus bloodpoints but I don't see the point in why a hard mode should be made less hard. If it's too difficult, then don't play it,
It reads like what you are looking for is basically Unbreakable that you can use more than once.

Absolutely busted, not only you cover much more distance even without range addons, but also you got as survivor 0 chance to win a chase. Remove it, it's healthier for DbD.Prayers beats addon of spirit
Seriously, this addon is busted. Getting free grabs at gens is stupid af. Takes 0 skill to use and has an reward like NOED. Even more than noed, cuz u don't even waste time chasing.
Yeah then remove insta heal add-ons and we are fine
One unbalanced thing doesn't justify the existence of another unbalanced thing in the game. Every unbalanced item/add-on/etc. should be reworked.

I LOVE Prayer Beads Bracelet, so it pains me to say it, but I agree. It's just too strong. I don't think though it should be changed in a way that makes Spirit Walk quieter, but not completely silent, as you suggest. Rather, I think it should come with some downside, as many strong addons do.
It's not a strong add-on, it's a too strong add-on. Sorry, but since it doesn't have a counter, you can't simply add a negative effect. In order for it to be a strong, but balanced add-on, the total silence has to go.

Only do it if you want to have the bloody skins.

equilibrium
Debuff: After beeing hit by the killer the survivor loses their sense of balance and are unable to jump in a hatch for 3 seconds. (Debuff only shows after the hatch has spawned)This removes the standoff but still lets the survivor enter during a chase.
That would most likely mean: If the killer knows where the hatch is, the survivor won't get it.
I also find the current situation annoying and want a hatch rework but I'm afraid that is not the solution we are looking for. -
