Can i report the 2 people for holding the game hostage since they are the ones refusing to leave?

If they were hiding all the time and you didn't know were they are then yeah, but you decided to let them do that since you knew they were at the exit gate. You were as stubborn as them and you decided to not push them out, you held the game hostage as well.

How is an afk killer holding the game hostage?

I'm not a big fan of giving survivors their own specific abilities. In the end, one ability is stronger than the other and therefore one survivor would be played more often than the others.

One ability is not always stronger. They offer different routes to milking their possible value. How survivors utilise this value and how killers can lower it is a point of opportunity for both sides.

Sure, we already have a lot of Claudettes at the moment but still a lot of the other survs are getting played. I'm afraid that would change and lobbys would look more monotonous.

There could actually be less of Claudettes indeed, dependent on the buffs, but there is little evidence that minuscule buffs would alter their choice in any circumstance.

In the end, we can only make assumptions about what would happen if your suggestion would be implemented. There would only be evidence after an actual implementation. :)

  • Good suggestion. Nothing more to say. :)

Most killers don't care about what survs are wearing (as long as it's not invisible Claudette), it's about items and SWF.

Maybe you just had bad luck and got matched with other survs who wanted to bring lots of items into the game. Or another surv had a super bad ping.

I play solo surv without items on highrank daily and I don't come across those amount of problems.

I only equip medkit for heal faster or toolboxes for a ritual.. because I suck with flashlight's and i still get dodge.. But the people who i get matched EQUIP A LOT OF THINGS..

The killer doesn't know that you bring the toolbox for a sabotage daily and not for gens.
The killer doesn't know that it's a "normal" medkit and not an insta-heal.

If a killer sees these items in a lobby, they always have to calculate whether they could handle x insta-heals and so on, because usually these items are not for sabo dailies and insta-heals are super common.

If the killer wants to play nurse, then they might accept a certain lobby while another killer who wants to play Freddy has to dodge.

I just dont care if someone join my lobby with 4 medkits I just enjoy the game And if I lose I move on and play another, are you serious.. Killer are scared of a [BAD WORD] toolbox? Just bring franklin's demise damn

Killers aren't "scared" of one single toolbox. But this game is neither balanced for 3 toolboxes nor for several insta-heals.

If you don't bother going into a match where you don't have equal but only slim chances of winning, then that's fine by me.

Killers just want to play a fair game.

Concerning Franklin's: It doesn't work. You find the first surv, chase them, this surv loses their item. The other survivors still have their toolboxes and work on gens.

When a game is asymmetrical, it still has to be balanced. Asymmetrical means that 1 surv is weaker than 1 killer. Balanced means that 4 survivors should be as powerful as 1 killer.

A lot of people mix that up and believe this game can't be balanced since it's asymmetrical.

So you are saying that the killer is stronger then 4 survivors that know how to team-play? The key word here is "team-play" if you want to solo the entire operation and get owned it's your mistake not the killers'.

What has that to do with what I wrote?

Ideally, the killer would be as powerful as 4 survivors but that's not the current state of the game.

  • Tombstone + Infinite EW 3 take ages to stalk. If survivors allow Michael to reach that stage early in the game, they played bad and therefore deserve losing the game.

Tombstone makes Michael slow, he is way easier to juke. And you can jump into a locker, so he can't mori but only grab you.

Btw: dc'ing is a bannable offense.

  • @Silas said:
Don't get it... I'm a killer main and I know damn well an experienced solo player could be just as good if not better than an entire SWF group. Items and SWF don't matter, it depends on the skill.

Items and perks matter a lot. A mediocre skilled surv with insta-heal, DS, Deliverance + Unbreakable can consume as much of the killers time as a higher skilled surv with just their usual DH.

The same goes for voice comm. It's about how time efficient the survs can play.

  • @Gorgonia said:
So, you spend bloodpoints on items that you can't use because you need to please the killers' insecurity.

That has nothing to do with anyone being insecure but the game not being balanced around instaheals or 3 toolboxes.

To increase their chances in not getting dodged, survivors can decide to not bring items. That's what I usually do when I play surv.

Waiting times for survivor on PS4 is RIDICULOUS. It’s a problem needing addressing and fixing.

If there are simply not enough people playing killer, a fix is not that easy. The devs would need to make playing killer more attractive.
As it reads, you don't want to play killer. Why?

    Just push them out maybe?

Can you explain to me what's the point of survivors having unlimited time to get through the open exit gates? It's not like the killer can guard 2 open exit gates at once.

Survivors should be revealed and exposed after BOTH exit gates are open and the game has gone on for 3let's say 3 minutes. Both would make sense lorewise and would never actually be a problem outside of a toxic SWF. Do you want to survivor be exposed? Run rancor or noed ;)

Hey hey, logic is not allowed here ;) Tell me what's the logic behind staying in the game for 5+ mins after both gates are opened. It should NEVER happen unless you're being toxic. I play really really toxic sometimes so this happens a ######### ton to me, survivors see this as a punishment. So much for your flawless logic. Then again you're just a survivor main so I don't care what you think. Then why you keep talking to me?

Run Whispers btw. So I need to run a perk to avoid ######### game design.

Guess what, Whisper is useful during the whole match.

Guess what, I play without sound, whispers is useless for me, yeah the perk lights up but have fun finding a survivor who isn't doing a gen this way on legion.

Guesss what, then it's up to you.

still no logical reason for survs to stay in the game for ages after both gates are open, give me a single one.

    T-bags :)
U dc because of maps, i guess they got the same right to do dumb stuff.

I don't DC because of maps anymore, most of them got fixed, haddonfield is still beyond idiotic with it's near impossible hookplacements some time but I can work with that now, I can deal with cornfield since I play legion and freddy most of the time anyways.

in b4 "wow you don't DC anymore since they buffed killers to braindead levels, what a hero", you're not original I heard that one a ton from my GF already.

They are also not teabagging they are straight up hiding to waste my time

Guess what.. You dont want to sacrifice a perk slot..

Do you think ######### like this is acceptable? I had people hide in my game for 30+ minutes and this is regular, should I [BAD WORD] use whispers just because of an occasion that is bannable in the first place?

Once you stay in the game after both gates are open for 10+ mins without showing yourself it becomes a bannable offense that could be EASILY fixed by the devs

You play this game at your own risk, you know how is the community this is a competitive game do not complain, if you do not want comments like these in your profile just delete them or change your privacy options ;), whisper is available throughout the game and It helps a lot, it's your problem if you do not want to sacrifice a slot and you're blind ;)

Holding the game hostage is a bannable offense, killers shouldn't have to deal with this crap through PERKS. Also I don't care about comments, they held me hostage for 30(!) minutes, both gates open 1 person left, it was their revenge.

    Did you report them?

Anyway, there should be a game mechanic that would make holding the game hostage like that impossible.

Basically, it would be enough if Players who dodge a Lobby, have to wait longer for the next Lobby. So 1 Lobby dodged = 1 minute waiting for the next Lobby to join. If dodged again, 2 minutes.. And so on.

That suggestion has been made super often. Bottom line: It wouldn't work, it would only increase waiting times for survivors even more.

    @Aven_Fallen said:
since Killers think they are entitled to decide if they want to have easy games

How are survivors not wanting an easy game if they are bringing items with them instead of playing without?

Good that Killers cannot use Add-Ons. Which are the equivalent to items.

Most killers need their add-ons since without them, their power is too weak. You can't compare it to medkits & toolboxes which are not necessary at all.

I'd always recommend that players play both killer and surv on highrank for a while so that they can get a feeling for what is how strong in this game.

Agree on the first point, but only a bit. For some Killers that might be true (e.g. Trapper), but the Killers played on High Ranks usually are good enough to play without Add-Ons

Nurse and Hillbilly are the only ones that can be played without add-ons.

But, overall, I think nobody should decide who he wants to face. Otherwise Survivors should get an Option - Playing vs Legion? Nah, want to leave this Lobby.

You realize that survs dc on a super regular basis? They find out they are facing a killer they don't like: dc. There is a mori offering: dc. And so on...

Time is crucial in a match. With a 4 SWF, a killer can calculate with 2-3 D-Strikes. Depending on which killer they are playing, they might decide they can't handle the toolboxes and instaheals on top of it, so they dodge. The nurse player can still handle that loadout and doesn't dodge, therefore the 4 SWF only faces nurses and think that's the only killer played on high rank.

A 5 second cooldown is not enough of a punishment for taking the matchmaking into your own hands.

Perhaps, for each dodge in a certain timespan (day, week, or month), the cooldown increases further.

That suggestion has been made a lot in the past. Bottom line: Survivors would have to wait even longer for lobbies if that change would be made.

I suggest that you don't bring items and stealthy Claudette skins (if you do), that will increase your chances of not getting dodged.

A lot of people in this forum are saying that they get dodged super often, while I just get dodged from time to time. I wonder why.

I play solo, yesterday I was playing Nea because I had a daily with her, flashy red clothes, no selfcare, no DS, no toolbox, only a yellow medkit just in case I need to heal myself

Perks are not important for that issue since the killer can't see them in the lobby. Your medkit could have been the reason. Keep in mind that in highranks, a medkit means in 50% of the cases an insta-heal. If other players bring medkits as well, then the killer might decide that's too much.

I usually don't bring items into the game. Maybe you want to try that and see if you don't get dodged that often anymore.

  • It's pretty normal that 2 gens are done when you get the first hook as long as the survivors are focussing on gens and not wasting time.
If your chases last indeed only 15 seconds, you should still be able to do your 4k.

Change to aura reading to show only healthy or dying survivors.
Injured survivors have no chance to run or hide from the killers.

Injured survivors have many chances to hide from BBQ.

On another note: If the killer doesn't see anyone with BBQ, they have to assume that everyone is close to the hooked guy and that therefore there is no reason to leave the hook. Are you then going to complain that the killer camps?

BBQ was an incentive for the killer to not camp. If everyone is hiding their aura, then it's back to camping. Ironically, a lot of survivors complain about BBQ and camping at the same time.

Would you consider a rework on Thanatophobia so it stays active when a player dies, it would help this perk add pressure and it would stop the killer losing out on the full capabilities of this perk. I think this would be a great change for this perk.

If I recall correctly, it used to work on dead survivors a long time ago.

Do you think your version of Thana combined with Dying Light could still be balanced?

  • I used to equip SC on a regular basis but since the latest increase in healing time I use other perks a lot more often to be more efficient.

    @Dastard said:
Ask yourself as a survivor, if you rely on self care would doubling or tripling the time required make you stop using it?

Absolutely. Nearly nobody would play that version of SC anymore.

You don't want to increase healing time more, survivors would just focus on getting gens done.

    This 100%.
This can be implemented with relative ease.

  • BHVR is earning money with these skins, therefore it would not make sense to make skins only available for a limited amount of time.

@Master You can't "tunnel" gens. That sentiment is ridiculous. That's like saying you're tunneling hooks by using a certain one. That is the equivalent. You're thinking of looping as both include another party and not an object in the game.

Of course you can tunnel gens.
You could not-tunnel gens and stop repairing at 66% and switch to a new gen

    Really.
Sure, SWF is way easier but solo surv still isn't hard at all.

You're far too narrow minded. Play solo survivor for a while and you'll see. > @NoShinyPony said:

Since I am not agreeing with you, you assume that I don't play solo surv? And call me "narrow minded"? That's rich! I play solo surv every day for several hours.

If you've never been in a team who gets 4 manned by a Freddy AT RANK 1, then yes I will assume you don't play it.

Of course, I got 4k'ed against Freddy at rank 1. Bad games happen. But that's because my team & me weren't playing well, not because solo surv is hard.

    *Edit: typos

You proved my point, the teams make solo difficult.

No. :) I think solo is not as super easy as SWF but it's still easy, not difficult. As surv, it's easy to pip, get bloodpoints & win a game.

When I'm getting tunnelled, I disconnect almost immediately. That ######### is straight up annoying, and a waste of time, why shouldn't I disconnect?

You realize that you help the killer by dc'ing? And that they will continue to tunnel since it's such a well working strategy?

If you don't like getting chased and prefer doing gens, you maybe want to consider playing a stealth build.

And the Offerings for this event are the same as the ones from the Howling Ground, the Red Envelopes.

As a Killer, hook a Survivor to corrupt the Vessels in the Trial and make them temporarily destructible. Destroying a Vessel earns Moonrise progress and bonus Bloodpoints

I hope I'm wrong but this reads as if there could be a problem gameplay-wise:

If the killer has to hook a survivor in order to be able to destroy a Vessel, the survivors will most likely have collected the Vessels already before the killer could destroy them.

Yeah have you seen all the nurses at red ranks right now 4king with no gens done if any lately along with the Iridescent Huntresses etc.

You were saying that the game isn't easy for solo survs.
You can't do a lot against super good nurses in general. Hasn't anything to do with SWF or solo.

  • It's probably not the matchmaking being buggy but simply not enough people playing killer at the moment on PS4. The only thing the devs can do about that is making playing killer more attractive.

If you want to increase your chances in getting matches as a survivor fast, play solo (faster lobbies compared to SWF) and don't bring items (less likely to get dodged).

As solo survivor I like to have the option against getting tunneled or hook farmed. It should not just depend on the person who saves me but also I like to have some kind of helping perk. They rush to save you without borrowed time no matter where the killer is and you end up on the hook again. Personally I would carry a perk like that just avoid frustrations like these.

    Dead hard doesnt work?

If the survivor gets yolo saved directly in front of the killer, no. The survivor will get downed before he has the chance to use DH. (Which shouldn't be, but that's the way it is at the moment.)

Depending on hook spawn, Breakdown could sometimes be useful.

Weird it always works for me. Maybe you played with higher ping which is why it didnt work for you

    It never works for me.
You should have immunity until you regain control of your character but before that happens I already got downed again when I got yolo safed.

In fact, I never heard that in that situation someone is indeed able to dead hard away from the killer. Interesting. :) Maybe it's a platform thing. I'm on PS4.

Please don't play with sweaty builds like that. It's just no fun for anyone

I want to play as a killer with one of my friends and a full lobby with random friends.

You mean you want to play as a killer with one of your friends and 3 random players as the survivors? No, that's not possible.

  • I get that getting farmed isn't nice (it happens to me on a regular basis). But why should the killer be punished if the survivors are playing bad?

  • You are not entitled to wiggle off.
And the killer is using 2 of his 4 perk slots he could instead be using for Noed, BBQ, Ruin, Enduring, Spirit Fury...

Camping is valid and really strong in lower ranks, where survivors actually stick together but don't have the skills to back it up.

It even works in red ranks. Only yesterday, I got camped by a Leatherface with a charged chainsaw. Got unhooked by a Meg in front of him.

  • @Jplanas98 said:
Let me get this straight. So a survivor goes to vault the window and I catch them, but mid animation the game decides "Nah, they can go"

Grabbing is kind of buggy at the moment. That can also happen when you should be able to grab a surv working at a gen etc.

I play on PS4 and i have all dlc characters, I still get the offerings for the lisence charaters in my killers bloodweb. During the winter event i got a rediculous amount over 20 on a couple characters that i was prestiging.

This must be a bug. I'm on PS4 and own all the characters, too. I never get splinters and that's how it's supossed to work.

I've been playing solo for the last 4 hours and i've been dodged in 9 out of 10 lobbies.

Out of curiousity: Which and how many items are you and your mates bringing into the lobby?
I get dodged from time to time but not 9 out of 10 lobbies. That rate is extreme!

Looping is a core mechanic of DbD and one main aspect what makes this game unique and why so many people love this game.

Not for everyone, but for the majority of people the chase is the fun part.

If the devs would put more focus on stealth, this game wouldn't be DbD anymore and a lot of people would quit playing it.

Well for some looping is the greatest but for others it's not and they could give stealth much more support so both types of players on both sides could enjoy it. I mean some killers complain about looping now but if stealthy play keeps getting whacked/not supported loopers are going to be 100% more common.

There are Hide & Seek video games without the looping mechanic but these games are nowhere as popular as DbD. Of course, there are people that like stealth play, but it's not the majority.

If the devs were to put focus on stealth, they would lose more players than gain new ones.

    I'd prefer that.

Looping was not part of Dead by Daylight for well over half a year after release. To claim that looping is a core mechanic is false. Even the devs call it an unintended way to play the game.

Looping was not intended when the game was developed but you can't deny that looping became a core mechanic of the game. Nowadays, the devs would not say that survivors are not supposed to loop. When it comes to map changes like pallets and windows, it's about looping since it became an essential part of the game.

You don't have to believe it but if DbD had stayed a stealth game it wouldn't have become that successful.

I disagree completely. It would have attracted a different audience and I'm sure that even if the number was lower, it would be a less toxic one.

Nah, you don't disagree completely, we agree on a couple of points: Looping wasn't intended when DbD was developed. If it had stayed a stealth game, it would have a attracted other players and a lesser number of players in total.

What we don't agree on is the question what is more fun: stealth or looping. And to that question, there is no objective answer, of course. You prefer stealth, I prefer looping, that's just how it is. No hard feelings. :)
