  • It's just to make things even easier for The Killer to find you. And also a great excuse for them to create a useless perk to address it. "Silent Sanitizer: cleanse totems without making any noise, successfully cleansing a totem results in you becoming te Obsession, your Aura is revealed to The Killer for 60s and you suffer from the Exposed Status Effect." OT but has totem cleansing animation changes?

...but we already know the new content. This was supposed to be primarily a FW event

Here's the part I was only interested in: learn more about the graphical update, cross-play and the upcoming chapter. I was hoping for some insight and maybe even some PS5 and XSX info.

  • @UseTheValve said:

I'm really hyped for this and 60 tick but now I'm used to do doing no communication at all

Same actually more so than the Chapter itself.

  • The only exception as someone noted is The Ghostface which imo is still a Paragraph.

  • And the promised PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhanced patches two years ago. Nothing yet.

So tunneling and camping are just killers doing their only objective too...which is to kill. So why are survivors mad when you're just doing your objective.

Except these aren't necessary to fulfill The Killer's objective. It's not like Survivor hook progress is regressed the longer they go without being hooked. Generators regress so it makes sense to protect your investment otherwise is lost.

  • Hopefully they announce the next gen news!

  • Survivors have had it unfair since day one. First they were subjected to The Killers connection, and let's be realistic that there was a segment of people that manipulated their networks to gain an advantage. It took them years to finally Implement dedicated servers and while that's a step in the right direction, it's still not a remedy for the advantage Killers get. Server-side validation might equalize things, but it depends on how far they go. I just hope it doesn't take them months more to start rolling it out. It's disappointing that so far this ptb isn't even testing it. And what's the holdup with the higher tick rate?

  • What are his cosmetics?

  • My only complaint with it is when you become the obsession the perk becomes useless. I wish instead it randomly selected another Survivor so there was always some utility to the perk.

  • You guys should come up with perks, that would be really funny. I would but I've never watched the show and I'm not too familiar with the characters.

  • PS4 currently have it disabled. If they offered console-only cross-play I would enable. Assuming they optimize the game for PS5 in November, then I will enable it again.

  • Players want to get utility out of their perks, especially when The Killer is trying so hard to circumvent them. It's like when you're hard tunneled right off of the hook and hop into a locker to use DS. Otherwise you're likely to just get slugged. Same with BT. I've seen The Hillbilly use his free Sprint Burst Tier 20 with no exhaustion, fly back to the hook when someone is rescued. So in that case the person decided to start rescuing when he was on his way back and they got accused of being toxic. And that circumstance it made sense to gain utility out of BT, because the killer was trying so hard to circumvent it by temporarily going away and then immediately returning to the hook. Killers often go out of their way to circumvent perks so it makes sense that survivors are going to find ways to get usage out of them.

  • I'm sure it's been said but I can't read every reply, the issue isn't just being stealthy and smart about hiding. The issue is when you spend the entirety of the match hiding while everyone else is dying. Sure you may emerge from the Shadows to rescue someone but then you return to hiding. This is a big problem because it creates an imbalance in the match where everyone is on last hook and that one person has never been hooked. And then finally that last person gets hooked for the first time, there's no incentive for anyone else to go rescue them during EGC because everyone is on death hook. So in some cases they end up dying. So it's this cycle, the people that hide a lot sometimes end up dying and then they become even more selfish because no one rescued them and the people who are on death hook feel that the person who is hiding a lot wasn't ultimately helping.

also you can't tell if it pc player or different console i think it fine.

Oh it's easy to tell. Some networks don't allow certain characters, symbols or spaces and on Xbox and PlayStation they have apps and you can easily look up names if you really want to know. The strange thing is that they're keeping it a secret, but I understand why. If console players always found out they were going against PC killers, they would want to opt out. And the frame Advantage is real, in fact it's so real that many multiplayer games didn't allow the frame rate to be improved for PS4 Pro because it would provide an unfair advantage against players on PS4. Besides the fact that until hit validation is a thing, the killer already has an advantage and then has an additional Advantage with frame rate and stability.

Does opting out mean you'd only go against a killer who also opts out? I don't understand why a killer would opt out. Console survivors who wanna be able to 360 against killers, I get – but why killers?

Yes according to the official description, you would only be match-made with and against other people who have either opted-in or opted out. Maybe the killer prefers to have a way to communicate with the survivors, or frame rate or stability reasons.

  • It says that and I think a lot of people want to believe that's the case but I haven't noticed an increase. In my experience on PS4 the queue times have been faster and the matches have been more stable. On several of the PS4 dedicated communities, the consensus seems to be to opt out of cross-play. And it certainly feels that way in the game because I have no problem finding fast matches.

  • For PlayStation users it's easy to tell, all you have to do is click the name and if there's no way to view their profile it means they're on a different platform. So the icon doesn't really mean anything. That and Playstation doesn't allow spaces in their name, so if the name has spaces you know it's not PlayStation.

  • Like the current ones in the game. I just think they look cool. And they helped cover up the face of some of the uglier survivors. However if some people want to wear masks in the game to reflect the realities of the world right now, I don't see any problem with that. It wouldn't be distasteful.

  • He would be a very interesting killer. I really like the movie, too bad we're probably not going to get a sequel. I wonder though, who would the Survivor be?

  • I could be wrong but I think it was by the end of 2020? It will probably coincide with the launch of the next-gen consoles in November. Probably the mid chapter update which should be in late October early November.

only time i will refuse to EVER go back is NOED, if i see that proc well, adios

Spoken like a true potato. In fact when I see that, I'm more interested in staying in the match. It's a fun challenge to look for the totem. Obviously not always the case especially if the collapse has already begun and it's close to the end. I just hate those potatoes that insta exit as soon as NOED activates.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/182531/console-players-and-self-care

No self care is 🗑 and not all of us console players are potatoes.

Lots of boosted red ranks right now due to so many babies in ranked for so long now.

Give it a little bit and you'll see that the real red ranks arent using self care because most of us dont mind being injured with alot of us running builds that give us a slight advantage when injured, plus if were confident in our looping ability plus we know what pallets are left around us were good.

Plus alot of us know that we need to get gens done first and healing second.

Yes that's true. And it's always the people that go down in 3 seconds during a chase that spend 5 minutes healing in a corner of the map.

  • I love your idea, and the only thing I would add to it is that I want to see every Survivor and every killer get a themed outfit. I think it'd be cool to play with friends and for everyone to run the same set.

  • I think if it guaranteed a safety pip, no one would care. However I am curious what they're going to cook up.

We want crossplay, just not with a platform that has double the FPS and better controls. Most (not all) console players feel the same, where Xbox, PS4 and Switch have the same issues, where no one platform has an advantage over the others. Thanks for your suggestion though 😊

Exactly this! If there are people that also want to be match made with and against PC, they should be able to opt into that. I do agree with console only cross-play.

  • @TheForgotten said:

Sounds like an entitled survivor main. Maybe you should get friends to play with so they can rotate and body block for you. If you do have friends then they need to learn to play. Your change will only effect new killers. Experienced ones will still just slug you and move on. Only way I could see this being acceptable is if you have 30 seconds instead of 60 and your skill check is the size of a gens great skill check.

Now this is funny! You act like that stops a tunneling killer. Some Killers for whatever reason are Relentless in their tunneling. They will stop at nothing until they've successfully tunnel someone off the hook.

  • While CP was enabled, MM wasn't really any faster and in some instances slower. I did notice many potato hiding selfish players, more than ever. Don't get me wrong, PS4 has a sizable population of these useless idiots but I'm running into them more so with CP. The Killers seem more ruthless and I can def feel the lag, choppy FP drops more than before.

  • I had an idea for a perk, "Guardian" would be the name or even "Protector." It would be similar to yours but provides more benefit to your protectee. While The Killer is actively chasing someone injured (or maybe recently unhooked), when within X meters of both, you give the Survivor the Haste status effect and their Scratch Marks and Grunts of Pain are shielded and your Aura is shown to The Killer (and maybe you suffer from the Broken or Exposed status effect) to encourage them to go after you. The shielding persists for X seconds as to avoid them still going after the protectee. Basically a perk that really discourages going after someone recently rescued or on death hook.

  • For some reason Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde immediately came to mind.

  • I think it would be cool to see in logos. And if people want to figure out which platform someone is on, all you have to do is look up the username on the different platforms sites. It would be pretty easy to deduce.

  • If anyone in your group has cross-play disabled, then that entire session is disabled for cross-play. Also the in-game information on states that you will only be match made with and against other players who have also opted out. So it's a big fragmentation of the population of players on a platform. Basically cross-play systems designed in this way are to really encourage and almost force people to play with it enabled. It's not really supposed to be a choice. Some games to a different, it's unfortunate that dead by daylight chose the all-or-nothing approach.

  • The key changes are forthcoming. I don't know what exactly, I'm curious what they're going to do. My guess is only the person who brings the key will be able to escape and the hatch will close right after.

I’m on ps4 and I get a lot of missed hits and grabs that looked like they should’ve went through. It’s jacked up for the time being.

I've had that happen sometimes with grabs. It's like I've clearly grab the person off of a generator, I hear them scream and then they teleport out of my grasp and are able to run. It doesn't happen that often but on the Survivor side, pretty much every match there's always a sketchy hit through a window that should not have happened lol

  • I've been toggling between both options and I noticed turning cross-play off has been a significant Improvement for Survivor queues on PS4.

  • @TheFrog said:

You know you can, like turn off cross play right?

Everyone knows the options but it's All or Nothing. The point of OP is to limit cross-play to just other consoles. On the flip side, why do PC players want to play against console player so badly? I mainly play on PS4 but I also play on PC, and I can tell you it's night and day. So the concerns are not unfounded that there is an advantage, just in the gameplay experience itself. I have almost virtually no issues on PC whereas tons of problems on PS4.

  • I did a few cross play matches, it definitely felt choppy. I was curious about disabling it and to my surprise, zero delay in matchmaking. Was no different than yesterday. A lot of people I've met and spoken to indicated they've disabled it because of the perceived Advantage for PC killers.

Yeah they did a really good job. I think the DBD team could do EVEN better though. They got Steve’s look spot on.

I recently P3 him specifically for the new look so I hope it happens. Even if they ultimately can't agree on securing the actors likeness, just make him look younger and better.

So let the rest of the world conform to US standards? Is that what you’re implying?

No, but name a country that doesn't use the same classifications? I can confirm that the European Union, Canada, and the United States classify Middle Easterners and certain Latin Americans as White. Jane may be ethnically and culturally Hispanic but she is racially White. Hispanic isn't a race.

  • I wish I knew who to properly credit, if you know who please quote and I will edit. Someone did this amazing visual of all three licensed characters with the likeness of their actors from the movies and wow. Incredible, I would love to see all three done.

Wait, has anyone even looked up population ratios? This game is pretty on par here.

18 characters with 8 people of color. Considering whites make up around 70%.

I'm honestly not concerned with the race of the character, just want goo lore and perks.

    Asian

    Jake, Yui, Feng

    Black

    Tapp, Claudette, Adam

    Hispanic

    Jane

    Arabic

    Zarin

    White

Dwight, Meg, Nea, Bill, Quentin, David, Jeff, Nancy, Ash, Ace, Lori

Killers may be less diverse. Off the top of my head, there are only the following: Doc, Wraith, Spirit, Oni, one of Legion, Plague....perhaps, she could be anything. Oh, and demogorgan......he's one of a kind.

Those aren't all racial classifications, at least not in the United States. Jane and Zarina would both be considered White.

Well I have only used moris on 1 day, but to be honest... There has to be some penalties for such a behavior.

Where would we land if everyone just dc's/cancel a match/and so on, if something there annoys him/her?

If I would be so soft, I would have needed to dc/cancel 90% of my matches because of some survivor addon/perk/behavior/whatever, but I had only dc'd 1 time and that was because of a bug that would have maybe lead to a ban if I would have continued to play.

That's not going to happen enough because people get punished with the DC penalty. Canceling a match is a completely different thing. No one loses any points, you just get sent back to the lobby. 100% agree with cancellations related to a Mori offering.

  • There's risks and rewards at times. The issue is a lot of people only want the reward. If you slug, there's a risk that someone will have Unbreakable. Everyone is free to Tunnel, camp and slug but if survivors have the right perks equipped those decisions may have a consequence for the match. Without any remedy, every match would be a slugfest. @BigBrainMegMain is correct. And I think the more people complain about these perks, especially DS and UB which only work once per trial, they are going to make compelling adjustments to make them more effective and bring more utility. So maybe people will get their wish and DS will deactivate during certain conditions but then it may work twice and be very powerful against tunneling meaning there's no timer to circumvent. People say they want it to be an anti tunnel perk. I'm not so sure that's the case. I think people just want to make it easier to Tunnel, something that's already super easy and effective to do. Be careful what you wish for, I remember when everyone was running self-care and all the killers were complaining about it. Now that it's Nerf, no one bothers healing in a corner of the map wasting time and instead they focus on generators.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/181137/salty-survivors-do-not-allow-me-to-use-my-yellow-moris

Well you cant blame people for not wanting to take their chances and play against something that can be really unfun, its the same when Killers lobby dodge when they see four P3 Claudettes with Flashlights or the squad of Neas with ugly cosmetics, we all know they didnt come to the trial to fix gens.

I understand the yellow one is mostly harmless but in my experience if I see a hidden Killer offering 95% of times is an Ebony and in my experience Ebonies are brought to vent steam because some meanies were mean towards the Killer last match and someone has to pay for that. Screw that, Im not your personal punching bag I dont DC but I do suicide on first hook against secret offerings.

You don't have to DC, just cancel the match. Every time I see a secret offering thankfully someone cancels the match. And 99% of the time it's a beautiful ebony with beautiful perks and add-ons like Iridescent Head. What a fun match I missed out on!

  • And I assume you also want survivors to see the killer before the match starts? Might as well at this point, then everyone can dodge everything they dislike.

  • @PrincessPoop said:

People that run self care should swap it for kindred or bond and your teams efficiency will be much better

Those are great perks but I get worried people will use Bond to bring the killer to you. It's happened to me many times. Just last night I had Feng Min repeatedly and deliberately run towards me despite having already been hooked 2x and her never. At the time I gave her the benefit of the doubt and thought it was just incidental. Then at the match summary, I see her perks: Spine, UE, SC and Bond. That's why I kind of want to see a toggle in match where you can disable your aura being shown to a specific Survivor lol

  • Look forward to it! It would've been nice to have the first redemption code to give something to watchers to help promote the film. Wishing you guys all the best.

  • They might do like other devs and launch the first code via the next dev stream and only have it active during the stream and maybe an hour after. Maybe a free charm.

  • We also never got the promised PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhancement patch mentioned in 2018. And still no word on next-gen updates. I hope it's something they announce soon. It would be a great surprise if they intend to improve the game across all platforms to coincide with the PS5 and Xbox Series X launches in Nov 2020.

  • Why? That perk requires you to go into a locker for a few seconds. Based on the title, it sounded like you would instantly heal right after cleansing a totem. Which would obviously be a bug.
