This isn’t about telling anyone how to play please read the post I said that it’s about A just to let off steam mostly been having many bad games so this helps me relax a bit by talking about it B Because you can’t have a mindset of people can’t use what’s in game like to stop tunneling but then use exploits to help you tunnel easier
Oh my reply was sarcasm. I think what The Huntress did was wrong, but it's something that happens quite often. Whenever either role perceives an injustice or toxicity, they seem to amp up the nastiness for the duration of the match and sometimes it spills over to the next matches. It's also a mechanical problem with the game where you're basically held hostage on the floor and can't do anything for so long. That's why I think we need to bleed out option even if it's limited to certain conditions. At that point I'd rather move on to the next match.
-
You got exactly what you deserved! A killer is free to do whatever they want in the match, if they want to slug or tunnel you just have to accept that. Whatever you do don't bring and certainly never use perks that help deal with those situations because then the Killer is going to slug and tunnel you!

Ironically, the majority of the time I see someone 99% a gate, it leads to someone dying because the door isn't open when they're running during their last chase.
This has been my experience too, sometimes I am the victim of that lol It just happened today, against The Hag on Haddonfield. I was insta-tunneled off the Hook and downed near the door at 99%! I couldn't finish it fast enough or I would've escaped. I was tunneled off my first hook just as hard and thus already used DS. It was still pretty fun, she was a weird Hag with trap placements.

It's been there since the PTB. You can be on a gen, and you suddenly get Tormented.
They haven't even acknowledged it.
It's still a problem. It happened a few days ago, I was cleansing a Dull Totem and everything was fine and right after I was randomly afflicted by Torment. Just to clarify, nothing was on the floor.

I had this randomly happen with The Oni earlier. Within the first minute he DC and I got the five minute penalty. I got the Safety Pip and earned 2100 BPs but penalized for his DC.

This happens often, especially in Red. No Obsession is truly free reign for The Killer to tenaciously tunnel and delete people asap.

Wow, I'm not even gonna discuss with you, you seem to lack gameknowledge. "it's just a 5 second stun". No, it's an entire hookstate, without that 5 second stun you'd be on the hook, how is it hard to understand for survivors? Oh wait, because most of the ppl playing dbd are casuals who never gamed competitively before.
That's exactly what it is, read the description. It extends the chase at best, depending on your other perks or allies you may get away and avoid getting tunneled AND thus avoid getting re-hooked so quickly. However contrary to your misunderstanding, it is not a free hook state. The perk frees you from The Killer's grasp when he picks you up within 60 seconds of being rescued, assuming you succeed the difficult Skill Check. You also become the Obsession and the perk deactivates for the remainder of the Trial. No point in discussing if you want to invent your own description of the perk. Adios.

Horvath said, when they reworked the perk, that the main purpose was to transform it into an anti-tunneling perk. So on paper unless you did a chase longer than 60 seconds you would use ds if the killer tunneled you. But this is not how ds is being used
He also said many other things like he realizes that it's going to work in other optimal situations and that strategic for the survivors. Even with that said, subsequent Revelations and insight from the developers have broadened that the perk is not intended to be only for tunneling. There's nothing that says DS is exclusively for tunneling, and that's the distinction that people are trying to make. And during the Stream, one of the devs even joked that you can be tunneled twice. People here are trying to act like it's so effective and Powerful at dealing with tunneling that it shouldn't work in any other circumstance and I would agree with that statement if it were true. The issue is that it doesn't even deal with tunneling not even on the first tunnel. It can provide some relief against being tunneled one time but it is not an anti tunnel perk.
-
@Leonardo1ita said:
@Peanits @Almo ? If you ever played as hag you'll notice how the perk is not just an anti tunnel perk, but a massive time waster that allows survivors to always play super aggresive, jump in a locker, bodyblock hits even injured just to waste time, and completely go out of the purpose of the perk. Get multiple downs and out of nowhere and don't risk anything because they have unbreakable, or get grabbed and tak because maybe they have borrowed. There are so many situations where you can't snowball anymore just because of decisive strike, so my question is if you're looking into changing it or not, and if not why not
Why don't you Enlighten us and tell us the purpose of the perk? Because it's not about being tunneled.

Oh great, so a perk wins you the game and that's totally fine and dandy. Where's the killer equivalent to this? NOED? Devour Hope?
Perks that give extra-hookstates should be brutally hard to activate and highly situational and limited to a one-time effect per GAME similar to haunted grounds with EASY and reasonable counterplay similar to make your choice. Yet here we are with DS's counterplay STILL being worth a perk on it's own (60 seconds of not getting picked up after a down would be strong in itself even with no stun) and Borrowed Time which honestly should only work against basement hooks.but then be buffed against stealthkillers and by helping the rescuer too.
I'd rather have them rework base gameplay issues through other means than dumb perks that end up being the meta forever since they refuse to fix ######### like camping while there's no other survivors around etc.
Which perk wins you the game exactly? You mean a five second stun that most Killers circumvent anyway? lol You don't wanna talk about equivalent perks because if Survivors had Killer perks, they would be very powerful. Things like reversing hook progress for merely completing a gen? It would be fun to think of some tho.
And what gives an extra hook state? At best DS prolongs the chase because it certainly doesn't give you an extra hook state let alone assure a getaway. Even with that five second stun, it is still extremely easy to continue tunneling thereafter. Which most killers do with great success! I otherwise agree with you, the game needs some base changes and imo a stronger in-game determent to tunneling so DS wouldn't be needed. Tunneling is currently too effective, powerful and easy (especially against people that go down fast) that it will continue to be the go-to for many if not most or more.

@darktrix said:
DS is the sole reason that tunneling is not as rampant as it already is now.
There are some killers who have a self sense of honor about not tunneling off the hook - but the majority, yeah they would do it way more if the threat of DS was not in the picture.
Absolutely correct. Ever go into a match without an Obsession? I sometimes try this with friends and it is a disaster. Free reign to tunnel and insta-rehook people left and right. Not fun at all. At least with one DS, The Killer is often reluctant to grab people that quickly off the ground.

This also is in part the fault of survivors not wanting to wait like 3 more seconds for the killer to walk away.
Even if the killer has BBQ, they hook, see a survivor working a gen halfway across the map, start walking away, and they hear the survivor get unhooked. They now know that they can walk halfway across the map to try and get this person working a gen, or they can turn around, knowing there are at least 2 survivors right behind them, giving them a much faster chase, and preventing them from healing.
Not saying all tunneling behavior is survivors fault because there are just killers who like to camp, but it is a factor that plays into it.
I do wish we had a "kick" mechanic to decline getting rescued when it is less than optimal to do so. Unfortunately until we do, we are at the mercy of potatoes that unhook you within microseconds of getting hooked without BT lol With that said, some killers have hook fever and HAVE to return or go out of their way to return. I ran into The Nightmare last night, he aggressively teleport back to the nearest gen after every unhook to relentlessly tunnel.

Perk is useless as deja vu exists and maps and detective hunch. It brings nothing really new to the game.
What if the perk removed generator auras 1/2/3 from killers at the start of the game. Every time a gen popped the killer would get aura vision back of 1 gen.
Or
When generators are completed delays notification auras and sounds for 2/3/4 seconds
Secondary action if needed survivors can see aura of killer for 2 seconds within 8 meters of gen
Some good ideas.

There was one idea floating around that it should also show repair progress by the colour of their aura (like Wraiths & Legions add ons)

The issue is tunneling and slugging, ime tunneling is guaranteed every match, slugging not as much but also not a distant second place problem and camping to a lesser extent. I am tired of running DS but it is sadly needed. I try various builds to change it up, found a really fun one so far but the issue is when Hooked and the experience thereafter without DS is painful. The trend I am seeing is The Killer actively returning to the Hook. Never had this before recent so it looks like BT is back on the menu for me, another boring Perk I don't want to bring.

@Nicholas Alright I see your point now that you've stated it. First of all the skill check isn't that hard. Are we really complaining about that? It can be made easier if that's a problem. If a survivor lasted more then 60 seconds then the other survivors should've gotten a solid amount of gens done, and the survivor can use DS on the next chase. The killer made a mistake committing that long, and lost a lot of pressure already. You also mentioned slugging. Again the idea suggested addresses this. If you get slugged the timer gets longer, up to 60 seconds. If no one picks the survivor up after 60 seconds that's on your teammates for being trash, unless the killer just camped out your slug which is the same point I made earlier. The killer devoted 60 seconds to you, that's plenty of time for the other survivors to slam gens (3 should pop, maybe only 2 if the killer has pop). This also misses my whole point where I said values could be tweaked. I was mostly just seeing how people liked the idea of a short timer that gets much longer if you're in chase or slugged.
The SC can be missed, so the point is that it isn't even a guaranteed use perk. Your other points make no material changes to anything, other than reducing the pain for The Killer and not improving the scope for the Survivor in any meaningful way. So basically The Killer can always and easily circumvent the perk that is suppose to help with tunneling but only if the tunnel meets very precise conditions. Nothing about the second tunnel. Sounds great! The idea that others may get gens done and The Killer has invested so much time chasing you isn't a remedy to getting tunneled. Tunneling doesn't cease to be tunneling if you are good at prolonging the chase. That's yet another Killer sided argument. Tunnel is an individualistic action, and allocating a perk to it should offer a remedy for that individual Survivor. Moving on, you're off the mark with your Killer approved version of DS so I see no point in further engagement. Cheers!

@Nicholas Yes it favors the Killer more, because the problems I mentioned are when the killer gets DSed for not tunneling, a Survivor favored issue. And you didn't explain why it was terrible. You didn't say why it wouldn't work just that it wouldn't. I said that Wraith and Pig could circumvent it. They're mid-tier killers, and they wouldn't be able to hit you for 15 seconds. That's plenty of time to reach a loop, also remembering Pig moves slower then survivors in crouch, and Wraith has to spend 2 seconds uncloaking. Moonwalking is another issue someone else mentioned, and the solution we came to was it would be based off of being a certain distance from the killer rather then in chase, which also solves the issue with the 2 stealth killers. If you saw another issue, tell me specifically what it is so I can try to think of a solution.
That is a design problem. You want to limit the perk to deal with tunneling, which is a problem Survivors deal with but you want to balance and define it based around the experience of The Killer. The Killer hit with DS was correctly struck with a perk that clearly states if you grab the Survivor within 60s of being rescued you are stunned - IF they hit the difficult Skill Check. Again your entire premise is The Killer but what about the Survivor that is indeed tunneled and it lasted more than 60s? Or The Killer slugged and waited out the timer? This is still tunneling yet the perk doesn't help. Any anti-tunnel perk needs to be built from the ground-up and would actually provide a compelling mechanism against getting tunneled. Hint: tunneling can exceed 60s, and you can be tunneled TWICE per match. Use that as a building block for your next iteration of your redesigned DS that is intended to be effective exclusively when being tunneled. Good luck.

@su11yboy said:
@Nicholas Thanks for absolutely nothing helpful. I listed the only way I could think of where it would be countered, tell me how it's bad.
@NivlacACE Yeah I thought of that too. Honestly if the killer is moonwalking to end chase, it reaches that other point I made about Wraith and Pig going in stealth. It makes it so they aren't really focusing on them, and gives them a chance to reach a pallet. But I do agree sometimes you just can't enter chase so making it so you have to be a certain distance might be better (like 8-12m). Like I said the values could be changed slightly, like maybe 20 seconds, and then change the multiplier so it's about the same. Appreciate the feedback.
Your idea was nothing helpful or new. I already outlined why I think your idea is terrible, I don't also have to explain how to change it to make it work. It doesn't work because again it is exclusively designed to favor The Killer. You already list ways in which it can be circumvented, quite easily, thus it is ineffective at accomplishing the stated goal: to be anti-tunnel. The issue with every idea is to narrow the scope of the perk to tunneling but at the same time permit ways for to be circumvented. At least DS has some utility in certain circumstances and the incidents it works outside of tunneling is the nature of the perk. If you want to really make it anti-tunnel, it would require a fundamental change to the core itself not merely time adjustments that are designed to improve the experience for The Killer.
-
In other words, make it a hundred times easier to do something that is already easy, effective and powerful. Your version doesn't make it anti tunnel, it just makes it easier for The Killer to circumvent and tunnel. This was designed exclusively from the perspective of the killer with no regard to the issue from the Survivor side. Terrible idea but I'm sure Killers will love it.
-
Did they update the tick rate to 60?
-
Somehow the majority of people on this forum always manage to run into 4x BT DS and UB. And magically the survivors are always able to use it despite the fact that The Killer claims they weren't tunneling or camping or slugging. At least on PS4, I love when survivors waste 75% of their perks for a situation they will never get utility out of. I never get hit with these perks, under any circumstances. I will admit that I'm very conscientious about avoiding the circumstances because I know as a Survivor its painful. With that said, these perks are based on the choices of The Killer. If you don't slug, UB is worthless.
-
The Doctor is super annoying to go against. He's not that bad when you know what to do, as others have provided you with some tips and insight. Even so, I just find him boring and annoying.

AFAIK, Dead Hard is the only Survivor ability that gives i-frames.
DH I knew but some games don't allow you to get hit until you have regained control. I guess this is why camping and hovering over a slugged body is so effective. It was really irritating to see SG consumed before I could actually stand.
@Eleghost said:
there are no i-frames aside from dead hard, and i think half a second while being unhooked the hit will not do a health-state but will hit.. The issue is you were speared during your hit not counting unhook part, which a spear is not a hit so you were dragged then hit.
Good point on spear, I forgot that isn't a hit. I wonder if a Hatchet can strike you during the unhook animation. It was really annoying bc this Deathslinger was hard camping me and I had no chance to do anything. So when I was speared in the air and getting dragged, it was irritating.
-
It's latency and part of the game. Currently the game favors what The Killer does, so hits will always prevail even if they are lagging or VPNing. Server-Side Hit Validation and increasing the tick rate from 30 to 60 is what everyone is highly anticipating. SSHV verifies that the hit was valid and TR is the frequency with which the server updates the game state. So hopefully when these are implemented, your experience will greatly improve.

You're correct, what alot of people don't realize is a PC gamer is just a console gamer that upgraded and decided to take gaming more seriously , it's very rare to find someone who can say they've never played on a console before, but that's why the PC gamers are more competitive , when you have people who were hardcore into gaming enough to ditch their console and drop 1000-3000 on a nice PC for better frames and gaming experience in general then of course majority of that base is gonna be more competitive and have more adept players in general
That's true. I am happy with PS4 and look fwd to PS5, so haven't taken the leap to the next level. Many of friends have and never looked back to playing on consoles.

Hatchets never instantly downed survivors by default. You have always needed the iridescent head to do that.
To keep it simple, this was a very ambitious achievement/trophy when it was first added. We later reduced the requirement to 20 downs on other platforms, but it's a little harder to change a trophy. As long as it's still possible, we're limited in how much we can change it. Unfortunately it's gotta' stay that way unless there's a radical change to the huntress that makes that trophy no longer possible.
Yes Sony is a real pita with changing trophies which is why other devs find ways to circumvent the trophy roadblocks. Why not make the trophy "In public matches, down survivors 10 times with The Huntress' Hatchets further than 24 meters while using Iridescent Head." Other devs have found creative ways to bypass the silliness of Sony controlling things too much. One even started counting one as 10 for the purposes of easing the trophy grind when people complained. In that case, credit 5x per one hit. Or run a trophy event, double or triple progress bc most of them are super boring and way too grindy.
-
Also wondering.

Ps4 Pro can't even run the digital store without crashing. Let's be real here. All that extra memory and bandwidth was for anti-piracy and not making games look better.
Who keeps greenlighting this #########? Ps5 is going to try to run games 8k and will run like ######### just like pro tries to run 4k and runs like #########, and ps3 tried 1080p and ran like #########.
I don't even know what Xboxes deal will probably be but if it's anything like the 360, it'll run for a week then ######### DIE. Then after a 3 week wait in its coffin, I get it back another week then it died again. What a trash console that was. I heard they fixed the problem by removing the red LEDs and unprogramming error codes from showing up. Real safe when people were resoldering the motherboard using a blanket.
Yeah tbh I would be happy with 4K 60fps HDR games, not interested in 8K 30fps games. Some games have announced 120 support but haven't revealed the resolution yet. Some speculate 120 will run at 1080p. And the PS4 Pro OS and menu is still laggy. I hope PS5 has a crispy OS.

Sony and Microsoft are obnoxious about changing achievements. Unless they could definitely change "where did the go" achievement I don't see them changing keys to only let one survivor escape. Maybe it will make green key able to do something other than make new players die trying to open the hatch with a broken key? 😂
MS is much easier, Sony is a pita. If the conditions to earn are removed or changed from the game, Sony allows it. They just don't allow promo/seasonal trophies that have a limited time earning window, and for devs to make them easier. They have a QA process for this and reducing the grind apparently isn't a good reason. One dev simply removed the item from the game (due to the criteria to earn it being super high) and introduced an easier to obtain item to unlock one of his trophies bc he said Sony didn't approve making it easier. So he circumvented the rule by retiring the item and thus the trophy was made easier.

This might be a stupid question, but I have a question around the next gen consoles. Would you lose all dbd progress/cosmetics on Xbox and have to repurchase the game or would everything transfer over if you purchased the game digitally?
Nothing will transfer over because there is nothing to transfer. Your data is stored on DBD servers and linked to your platform account. So yes everything would be there waiting for you on XSX, assuming you use the same XBL account. As far as purchasing, they haven't said if they will offer a free upgrade to next-gen or you have to buy. Hopefully a next-gen optimized and enhanced version awaits us on day one of new consoles but at the very least the current game will be BC on both next-gen consoles. And cross-play will always work within the same family of consoles. So you can play with your XB1 friends while playing on XSX.

I really don't care, I have wondered why but I do think it is to provide more opportunity for The Killer to locate you. It's also why we make so much noise rummaging through an empty chest with a blanket on the bottom and why we slam the chest shut after we already opened it! The perk was a joke.
