  • Just 50k BP and 500 IS today! I login every day, was there something special to do for the 2750 today?

Yup totally serious. The killer tunneled her and only her till she was dead then went and stood in a corner and we all escaped so I asked him why he tunneled her. He said her choice of cosmetics that he didn't like therefore he went after her and killed her

That's terrible lol I'm sure these are outliers but it's interesting when killers do stuff like that. I would think bright cosmetics means they aren't hiding and would be a welcomed choice for killers. That bright green wig stands out in the grass.

Sometimes they tunnel you as well if you're wearing outfits that are on the premium track of the rift. My friend just got the Nea shirt and she was tunneled and camped because solely on that cosmetic. Sometimes outfits can also get you tunneled

Idk if you're being serious or not. I want to add that I did contact The Killer in both cases and actually ascertained that information. Anytime it seems like The Killer is going out of their way to focus down one person or two, I sometimes ask them why.

You realise that these days, you just breathe wrong and you get tunneled for it. There is no reason in this game anymore. No obsession? Tunneled. You looked at the killer? Tunneled. Touched that gen? Tunneled. The game has become a camp/tunnelfest. There are no reasons anymore.

Also if you're the wrong Survivor or bad outfit can get you in trouble too. One killer went after my friend solely because he HATES Nea with a bright wig lol I had another killer that wiped Feng and Yui asap. I was Steve that match and was able to escape easily, hooked twice then left alone. I asked him if those two were BM, he said he hates Asian girls and will always kill those characters but loves Steve mains and always sets them free. Anyway sometimes you never know why things happen so i agree it can be out of your control.

  • My fave are the killers that repeatedly return to the Hook to check on the Survivor and then they complain about running into BT and/or DS thereafter. Especially since they don't need to go after the rescued and could go after the rescuer.

I know how to counter them thanks. BT, DS. The usual, but it doesn't stop a killer whos determined to tunnel.

Some are just relentless to tunnel you. Sometimes I wonder why especially when it's the start of the Trial and not a single gen has popped.

The lack of event currency this year really sucks. Last year, you could at least earn the serum and buy old Hallowed Blight cosmetics with it. This year, there's no serum to earn. The new cosmetics (except Ghostface, of course) can be bought with Shards, but the old Halloween cosmetics are still Auric Cell only. They're not even temporarily available with Shards during the event. There's no way to earn the old cosmetics this year.

This is also the least interesting, most lackluster Rift they've had yet. Halloween should be a big event in DbD, and yet this whole thing doesn't even feel good enough to be called an afterthought. This is pathetically bad.

I agree, Halloween should be the pinnacle event of the year and imo should start earlier in October and have more compelling content to buy and earn. It should be the most exciting time to play yet it is a terrible event so far. The Overwatch Halloween event is more polished and exciting and tons of free content to unlock. Even the once a year anniversary event was lackluster.

I've completed all of them so far, but the grind IS real. Some of the challenges also encourage you to play very selfish to complete them or require you to have very good luck with killer/survivor. I noticed that in this rift, they are bringing back the challenge from the very first rift which was to save someone from the hook once EGC starts. Granted, it's saving one survivor only, but remember, this is ONLY level 1 of the current tome. By level 4, that number would increase like all the other challenges...

BHVR does need to re-evaluate the rift system. Put more rewards in the free track, rework some of these very grinding challenges, increase the XP you get per match, reward more rift fragments, etc. I get why they hesitate since you can earn your auric cells back, but who cares? If people can complete it and earn it back, they can spend it on something else or the next rift, which guarantees people coming back to play your game!

Fortnite is faster and feels more incidental, you progress without trying by just playing but can accelerate with Challenges. Here challenges are pretty much required to make any meaningful progress and as you point out many are selfish or RNG/luck based. And not sure if it's still the case but Fortnite charges 950 V-Bucks and gives 1500 back if you reach Tier 100. So you make 550 V-Bucks and everything is exclusive to that Battle Pass. So there's a drive and motivator to grind it out because you know those sprays, emotes, skins, pick axes will never be made available again. DBD on the other hand wants to make it grindy, unfun, tedious and lots of ambiguity about what is a Rift Exclusive and how most items will return anyway. For me, exclusivity is a bigger incentive than getting something for "free" because I don't consider my time free and the bulk of the cosmetics have been mediocre and many recolors. And some others are nice but if I don't ever play that character, it's just a waste and not something I would buy anyway.

  • I spent mine, if they debit my account it will be a negative balance. Not like we can get banned for spending what was given to us.

  • You're right, I was trying to narrow use but maybe the recently rescued/unhooked condition is too extreme because of the points you make. Namely that The Killer already circumvents DS so they would effectively also circumvent this perk. And then the duration is too modest, because as you said the stun is only 5s.

  • @NoObzBoiYT said:

The rift takes to long to complete and get hard for no reason. Honestly it makes playing the game feel like a chore. Fortnite and other games do the battle pass better

I agree with OP and interesting numbers to consider. On Fortnite, they do it better but also the rewards are exclusive so that provides a greater incentive to reach Tier 100. With DBD, there's ambiguity about what will return and what will remain exclusive.

  • It is very disappointing, just scrolled over the rewards for both tracks and nothing catches my eye.

After performing a safe hook rescue on another survivor, Second wind activates.

While second wind is activated, The next time you are unhooked or you unhook yourself, After a total duration of 10/5/0 seconds, Second wind automatically heals you from injured to healthy.

This perk can be used 2 times in one match.

this buff would greatly make it meta cause it removes every frustration with this perk like healing someone the broken state and only activating it once tell me your thoughts.

Let me check The Killer's Guidebook on Survivor perks and make adjustments that comply with Killer expectations.

After performing a safe hook rescue on another survivor, Second wind activates.

While second wind is activated, The next time you are unhooked or you unhook yourself and pass two difficult skill checks in quick succession, After a total duration of 10/5/0 seconds, Second wind automatically heals you from injured to healthy. Thereafter your aura is shown to The Killer for 80/70/60 seconds, you suffer from the Exposed and Exhausted status effect for the duration of the trial and the next time you touch a generator or totem will immediately put you in the dying state.

  • Safe to spend them?

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

wait is dead by daylight turning into overwatch seems like they stole their tactics

At least with Overwatch you're guaranteed the rewards for watching streams.

  • So much mixed messaging here, I agree if they don't want to do any more exclusives why is this a thing? It wouldn't be so bad if it was a guarantee path to acquiring the charms, like how Overwatch requires you to watch streamers for a few hours but you're guaranteed the rewards. Or streamers give out Global codes with substantial redemptions, like a 100,000 per code. They must be really trying to get people to watch the streamers.

I was under the impression that the items would remain exclusive. Looking at the above promotion, does anyone not come to the conclusion that those three skins would be exclusive? Like I said we need some definitive clarity on what's going on with this. And they need to label the rewards going forward that will return so people can make informed decisions. Fortnite and many other games have forever exclusive rewards and their battle pass! So why can't Dead by Daylight?

  • Yeah the charms will stay forever exclusives I'm sure, but most people don't care about them anyway. I meant as far as cosmetics. Maybe the free track will remain exclusive since everyone had access to that. I think it would just be nice to gain Clarity and transparency on the subject, and just list the items that are going to return and the ones that will be exclusive. That way people can make informed decisions about how they want to approach rather than the ambiguity of, is this item going to come back in a few months? Is it worth grinding for skin that I could just buy? Personally I'm driven more by exclusive and unique content, and without that I don't have much of an incentive to bother sinking so much time in The Rift when the items are going to be made available later.

  • @Psycho_ said:

Well, I just want opinions not arguments I realize it was "conveyed" I at least read that in the website post.

Thinking about other games I play, its like someone buying bastet ana in overwatch, when they never played the event.

    idk.

I agree, and I understand both sides. I just think that some items should remain forever exclusive, they should be items that symbolize someone participating in a very specific event during a very specific time. I don't think everything needs to be available to everyone.

  • Maybe I don't remember but I thought it was all in flux. Like they weren't sure if and when they were going to return some items, and I didn't understand that every single item would be made available again that it was going to be some possibly returning to the store. If the only thing exclusive about the rift are the charms, then there's not much of a motivator to bother doing them imo.

  • @gatsby said:

My guess is that the free skins might stay exclusive. Like the ones that are yellow, brown and some green.

The purple and green ones that were behind the paywall will obviously get added to the store is my guess

Yeah that seems like a reasonable approach. Since the free ones were freely available to everyone. I just wish they would be more clear on what they want to do.

  • I actually miss the year we got the plants! I thought that was really fun and of course the Chinese New Year event with the lanterns was great. I wish they would just bring back those events every year to change it up. I'm so bored of the Archives.

How are people on this thread justifying DCing? A tip for these people: if you find yourself frustrated and DCing frequently during matches for whatever ######### reason, GO PLAY ANOTHER GAME and stop ruining the trial for the other 4 players.

You mean the other three survivors? Because let's face it, even when one or two people disconnect The Killer has it easy. The survivors are the ones screwed!

  • @lowiq said:

DC Penalties don't fix the core issue as to why people are DCing in the first place.

Exactly and no one cares. Rank is meaningless, so there's no incentive to retain your rank. The penalties are good but I'm guessing ultimately people are so fed up with whatever they perceive as bad that they're willing to eat the penalty or just reach the point where the penalties too high so they'll go play another game.

  • Some new info about next-gen:

    • 4K/60 fps is confirmed for "launch window" of PS5 and XSX.
    • XSS is HD "best possible framerate" but they are looking into 1440p support.
    • No enhancements regarding RT, Haptics, 3D Audio yet.

Launch window is vague, doesn't sound like day one at this point but still possible. Other studios use launch window to mean different things, some mean the two or three weeks following and others as much as three months after. I wish they were more clear on this point.

    Source: https://wccftech.com/dead-by-daylight-interview-discussing-an-ever-expanding-horror/

  • The official statement is: Behaviour will release Dead by Daylight on next-generation consoles in the Holiday 2020 launch window. The game will run at 4K and 60 fps and will benefit from the graphical update and its regular content drops, ultimately leading to an entirely remastered edition of the game.

"Holiday 2020 launch window" I guess anytime between launch and end of year? Hopefully it is a launch title. Otherwise the backwards comp version should work.

So another question is will the PS5 version support the new Trophy Tracker feature of PS5?

  • @SnakeSound222 said:

I think our progress is supposed to transfer to the next gen console (PS4 to PS5 and XB1 to XSX/S).

Yes, our progress is tied to our platform account so you could seamlessly switch between both gens of the same console family.

In the trailer I believe they said the release date would be in December.

    Which trailer?

    @KingFrost said:

I'd also like to know how it works. If I own the physical copy of DBD do I not get the free copy for PS5?

On PS5 with other games, you insert your PS4 disc in your PS5 disc drive and it will either install the BC version of the game or it will install the upgraded PS5 version of the game. This depends on whether the publisher has granted a free upgraded copy. Either way you need the PS4 disc to play it so make sure you have the PS5 disc console.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

Yeah, I’d like to know the specifics beyond an expectation that the game loads faster, and the frames improve.

    Will they implement ray tracing?

Other improvements to graphics other than the map facelifts?

As much as I'm looking forward to some other launch titles on PlayStation 5, I feel like the next gen upgrade could breathe new life into this game for me. I'm really looking forward to it and and dying to find out what to expect. I hope they do a trailer showing the improvements.

I believe in freedom so, ppl can name their username whatever they want. Idk why ppl get offended over everything.

You must believe in limited freedom because there's no such thing as absolute freedom on the internet. If not, what are you doing here? You're not free to do or say what you want!

  • Yet again this doesn't provide any remedy for the issues the survivors are faced with in almost every match. This is just about making it easier for the killer to Slug and/or tunnel and making it much easier to circumvent the two perks that provide some relief to these issues that only work one time.

I mean, you're putting more effort into complaining that you don't want to address DS, when thats been a pretty big part of the topic overall: the misguided nature of the dev logic in regards to PGTW, when it applies as much (if not moreso) to DS. Stop projecting that i'm "not listening" when you're making entire posts about how you don't want to listen to anything you disagree with. Thats not how ideas are exchanged.

I've heard it all, nothing you nor anyone else here hasn't already been said is my point. I just find it funny and that's what I stated. Every topic shifts to keys, mori's, IH, and DS, etc. Until I see new material or arguments made, not interested in regurgitating the same talking points. Feel free to do so but no thanks.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1644757#Comment_1644757

so you say things like ds is "not a guaranteed redemption" and then ignore "If you don't get any type of aura proc telling you what gen is being worked on when you hook someone, it will take time for you to find, let alone reach, a gen to kick."

the hypocrisy is palpable. especially since one needs a simple button press, and the other needs an entire perk out of a 4 perk loadout.

The DS comparison is absolutely valid, especially since a lot of the argument for the PGTW change is about how killers can chain the perk across different gens (remember, you can't use it twice on the same gen unless a survivor taps it to prevent regression, which oh by the way takes no time or locked animation to do) which actually encourages them to leave the hook and patrol asap and go to other parts of the map.

Survivors want the killer to be forced to use pop before starting any chases, giving them an even larger head start. Killers want the DS timer nerfed so survivors can't enjoy 60 seconds of god mode.

It's not guaranteed because people miss it. I didn't ignore but chose not to waste my time debating about DS, a point I made clear. So while you're calling me a hypocrite, next time read what someone said. I just find it funny and made that point. You can compare and debate with a willing participate but don't confuse my disinterest in wasting time with this topic as a sign of lacking merit. Your arguments don't move me, as I already stated. You make a lot of generalized statements, both over and under inclusive about Survivors as if they are a monolith. You've convinced yourself of "god mode" so I know where you stand, not wasting my time.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1644720#Comment_1644720

    1) the skill check for DS is easy as hell.

    2) "one time perk" that can be used by 4 different survivors, with a stun that is unaffected by enduring.

    3) the momentum shift that can be caused by DS is MASSIVE compared to pop, outside of a 3 gen scenario. Pop is strong, but mostly in addressing a core issue (that normal kick regression rate is pathetic.)

    4) DS can be "forced" on killers, by putting them in situations where the survivor cannot be attacked and slugged, but only grabbed (namely lockers.) Its synergy with Unbreakable also makes it so that the survivor can pick themselves up if the DS is respected, without the killer even knowing if unbreakable was used or if another survivor healed the last few % for the pickup.

Pop's timer issue comes from chase times. If you don't have high mobility and/or an instadown, as well as proper aura reading, those 15 seconds can make a huge difference. If you don't get any type of aura proc telling you what gen is being worked on when you hook someone, it will take time for you to find, let alone reach, a gen to kick. Remember, you can't see how far along a gen is by its aura, and using pop on a gen with 5% progress is not as desired as one with 75% progress.

Killers don't run bbq every single build. a lot of them don't even have room for it, tbh.

I'm not going to engage a debate about DS, because every topic veers into that and every talking point has been discussed. So far haven't seen anything new introduced to convince me otherwise. DS is a perk that depends on The Killer. The only way DS is forced is if you engage a Survivor within the well established window. The description and activation conditions are well known, so if you pick-up a Survivor that was hooked within the last 60s you may get struck with DS. People can miss DS, it's not a guaranteed redemption even when you grab someone within 60s. On topic, PGTW at 45s seems fine to me. I run it sometimes and usually know exactly where I am going and make it within seconds.

  • I love how people are complaining about a perk that only works one time with a strict time limit and you have to pass a difficult skill check. So there is no guarantee you're going to get utility out of it necessarily. Not to mention the fact that most Killers go out of their way to circumvent the perk entirely. Pop is still a very compelling perk. Make a decision, 45 seconds is still very generous. The perk isn't necessarily intended for you to get use out of it every single time you get a hook. You have to make decisions.

  • Imo they should have buffed Repressed Alliance to at least 45 seconds.

  • Wow that was terrible. It teleported you to the basement. No idea what that is.

  • @zonkoz said:

Yeah, I've looked through all the cosmetics available & even searched for any exclusive skins, ect. This whole thing is driving me mad, because I'm convinced I know what I saw, but it seems apparent that I must have just been seeing things, I guess. Perhaps it was someone in the extracurricular hoodie and the lighting made it look different when I saw it, because that one definitely fits the description the closest. Idk man, but thanks for the help! ✌

Always take a screenshot or picture with your phone! I've seen weird stuff and then review the pic and realize it was a normal outfit lol

  • I don't think it should work on dying Survivors, it provides free information to sluggers that they should otherwise need a perk for like Deerstalker. And it really shouldn't interrupt your current action. So Survivors are incapable of screaming and cleansing or repairing at the same time? lol So I now I just lost my investment in cleansing a 99% Hex: Devour Hope Totem under the effects of Hex: Thrill of the Hunt because I screamed! 🤣

That´s kinda neat, until you get matched with experienced players that are actually impossible to beat without slugging or patrolling. I think the complaints about the small pp build don´t stem from the lower brackets anyway, but when good Survivors use them. I don´t mean to insult you but recommend you check out high level gameplay to get a grasp of what I mean.

I have never run into this as a Rank 1 Killer. I don't need to slug or do any of that stuff and my matches work out just fine. I'm already in the highest levels of the game with both roles and again no issues. I don't 4k every trial but this also is never my goal, outside of the challenges that require it. Just like I don't obsess with escaping while playing Survivor.

... i hook a guy, go away, hook another guy, come back down the healed 1st guy that's working on gen, got DS.

You see the problem? Did i tunnel? Have i done anything wrong that i need to be punished?

And how about the times when you do tunnel? Then what? DS is useless in this situation but oh right, the Survivor "wins" because you chose to hover over their dying body and then grab to hook again. These perks can be rendered useless by not engaging in certain behavior but fine do what you want and pay the price. If someone has allocated 50-75% or even 100% of their perks to help with these moments, good for them. It's always funny to me to see people complaining about a Survivor sided problem solely from the perspective of The Killer. I never run into problems with BT, DS, UB, SG because I don't camp, tunnel, slug, or hover.

  • As soon as The Killer slows down with slugging, hovering and tunneling or at least (especially the latter) becomes a rare occurrence. I hate running DS and UB, but ime* these are nearly mandatory perks with the way the bulk of people play this game. Playing an Obsession-free trial is a nightmare, because again ime* The Killer will insta-tunnel and hook without mercy. Also the slug rate skyrockets in these matches.

*In my experience, meaning the things I personally encounter when I play as a Survivor. Your experience may vary, I reference my own.

  • I hope they change this before next-gen consoles, not looking to kill my new X button on my PS5 DualSense controllers in November.

While we're talking about new gens can we highlight sparking?

    Completed gens spark.

Normal regressing gens and Pop regressing gens both spark orange.

Also hate the new sounds but agree with this. Is this intentional? It was nice to visually see the different color sparks.

  • I just don't like the way it looks when you're in the Dream World. It looks extremely dark, almost as bad as Deep Wound towards the later half of the progress bar.

  • I wish it did provide some indication especially when it transfers, so that at least you get credit for Soul Guard.

  • I don't like the sound at all. I don't mind if they want to improve the generator repair sound but the current sound is awful.

  • Use "All Seeing" - Blood add-on, got it on first time very easy with this especially if you're like me and rarely play The Wraith.

  • I always ran into Tinkerer especially against The Hillbilly. It's still common for him, much like M&A is on every Deathslinger even Rank 20s. It is def run to go against more variety.

  • The five second stun clearly does little other than extend the chase but the way people carry on about this one-time use perk is that the stun lasts 60s. The Killer can immediately resume tunneling thereafter.

  • Thankfully the devs have said they don't want this to become a killer tool so these topics are moot. It's amazing how much people want EGC to be further enhanced in favor of The Killer. I'm sure eventually we will see Hex: Reversion as a perk to accomplish this.

Corrupt is a zoning tool, it brings survivors to you, but you can still only chase one person at a time, allowing the other three to work on gens.

You're also not thinking about the people that hide and wait it out.

Sure it does, because pop takes 20 seconds off a gen, so 5 seconds of stun, plus the time to run them back down, plus a new loop. Pop gives you 20 seconds, ds can give them well over a minute.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1621777#Comment_1621777

I always know that I've torn someone to shreds when they're using literal definitions in an attempt to look smart.

This is all about a win condition. If you tunnel through all of the anti tunnel perks, you lose as killer. If you rush through all of the gen rush perks, you still win as survivor.

Thus survivors have the tools to stop tunneling, but killers dont have the tools to stop the gen rush.

You confuse knowing synonyms to quoting definitions of a word, I did the former not the latter. The point still stands, there is no perk that stops tunneling only perks that can extend the tunnel. And I don't see you explaining the perks and how they accomplish what you say. The fact that you're resorting to attacking me, rather than focusing on the discussion tells me everything I need to know.

1 … 23 24 25 26 27 … 40
