I dont think if someone is slugged they should get crows for avoiding the killer. If the killer is going to slug without deerstalker why should they be alerted to your location? I get immersed survivors but slugs?? no need imo

I actually agree, I think that too much information is provided to sluggers without a perk. if people want to slug and gain information, they should dedicate perks to fulfill that goal. I think the current state of the game to some degree makes it easy to slug. While in the dying state, why do we scream against The Doctor, Infectious Fright, and your aura shown with BBQ?

BHVR's approach is actually better because it deals better with FOMO compared to fortnite's, because in fortnite as far as I can tell if you don't complete the rift you are done, never again you will be able to get what you missed, which sucks.

With DBD you might have a chance of getting what you missed even if you didn't complete the rift

I actually prefer DBD's battle pass from what you described (I don't play battle royales, so I trust you on Fortnite)

Yeah FOMO is a good point but then that would beg the argument that everything should return and absolutely nothing should be exclusive. Yet that isn't what's being discussed. So we know that some items will be exclusive, and I think it's better just to identify them so people can decide whether it's worth it or not to pursue the rift. however it's a really good point, and I know a lot of people hate that concept in games. I personally am not sure what to think, I like the idea of exclusives but I also understand the feeling of being forever locked out of content. I'm not sure but I do like the idea of knowing in advance what will stay exclusive and it doesn't change anything about the existing experience.

And those complains were shot down pretty quickly with the "Yeah they never specified which skins or when they were coming back, maybe if they are so important next time you can grind the rift?"

Consider as well the fact that saying "This skin is esclusive of the Rift" would bind BHVR to that decision, and that could backfire easily if they were to release them because the community presses them or give them to everyone like they already did (not that it was a justified behaviour, be aware)

As per today's Rift, I think the right approach is to consider everything as "rift exclusive" before evaluating wether it's worth grinding for it or not, since you cannot be sure of WHEN the cosmetic is coming to the actual store. It could be 6 months, it could be 2 years, it could be never.

As would any others going forward. The point you make is exactly why I think we need advanced confirmation of exclusivity. User demand or mind changing wouldn't be an option. This is how every other Battle Pass works, Fortnite has 100 Tiers of forever exclusives to that Pass and they pay you 550 V-Bucks back. So it's free plus you make about USD $5. Other games either also make everything exclusive or they at least outline the exclusives for that pass and what will return. These games have no problems with content bc it was clearly outlined. Today's rift is the right approach for BVHR but not the players, it gives them immense freedom and flexibility to return anything at any time after six months on a whim. It also eliminates the incentive for the segment of players driven by exclusivity.

    Stumbling? 😂

It may be ambiguous, sure, but I still think that if BHVR was to add the icon you want to the rift cosmetics there was going to be a ton of complaints which would look like

"You said this was coming to the store, why it is not here yet? The Rift has closed 2 years ago! You lied to us!"

So yeah, they chose the less harmful one by saying "Most of this content will come to the store at some point, but you can get it right away if you want it" (basically for free if you play enough, may I add)

You're right about the complaints and that is a concern lol However that complaint can even happen today and it has happened. So establishing the exclusives wouldn't change that, it would only accomplish players knowing with certainty what is never returning. It could be worded like this: Most items will return in as little as six months, however, The Goddess Queen Zarina is a Conviction Exclusive and will never be made available again. This will be your only chance to acquire it!

That is very clear and concise and specifies the exclusive(s) for that rift.

They originally stated they'd not be permanently exclusive well before the first tome actually came out.

Actually, they never said that. They did say some items would be exclusive, that is a main selling point of The Rift. They've also said most and nearly all will return but that still doesn't address my point: what is actually exclusive to each Rift? No one knows.

  • @Lycidas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1820745#Comment_1820745

The page I posted was published the 10th of August, and the first Rift was opened the 30th of October, IDK where you live, but here August comes way before October.

So what you're saying is that you'd prefer to have a "Hey, this is coming to the Store sooner or later" icon without knowing WHEN that skin is going to be added to the store? And you think that it would be perfectly fine for them to add that specific skin 1 year and a half later since they didn't specify the date? How do you think that would sit with people?

Now you're trying to be insulting but it won't work. You misread my statement and now stumbling all over the place, so I understand the attempted obfuscation. Like I said, next time read more carefully prior to replying. I was talking about the FAQ which was also unclear on exclusives. The page you reference is still ambiguous. "Most" and "nearly" are meaningless terms and not clear. That was my point. Not the fact that most items will return, just the point that we don't know what is exclusive. And yes I think being forthcoming about exclusives is better than not knowing anything. The current system is most items will return min 6 months later, the information gap is that we never know anything, not even the exclusives.

It's the second time I see someone say that "it wasn't clear" wether the Rift rewards were coming to the store or not, and honestly I have no idea where you guys see the ambiguity in the sentence "nearly all content from each Rift will eventually arrive in the Store"

I mean yeah you could argue "bUt It SaYS nEarlY aLl CoNteNT" but I'll go out on a limb and say that only charms will stay exclusive of the Rift, and sooner or later all the other skins are going to be released in the store, because yeah, they said "no more exclusive cosmetics" and they should be sticking that rule.

    https://deadbydaylight.com/en/news/welcome-to-the-archives

First that statement you posted, was way after the rift started. The original statement was like two sentences in FAQ. Next time read a little closer, the ambiguity I was referring to is the fact that they are not distinguishing between the content that will return and won't. In other words what is going to remain exclusive to each rift. That's what I was referring to, it would be nice to have an official designation or icon that says this item is exclusive to the rift and the other items may return. and since we're going all the way back to the beginning, here's the official artwork and the word exclusive cosmetics. Yet all of those cosmetics have come back or are about to come back. So yes there's some ambiguity.

  • I don't think any changes other than only the person using the key can escape. Maybe the skeleton key can allow you and one other person to escape. Otherwise there has to be some distinction between the two keys but maybe someone has a better idea. I don't agree that the hatch should be permanently closed after someone uses a key, that's too punishing to the other survivors in the trial. I also don't agree with the notification, that provides free information to the killer. The killer already has enough free information throughout the trial.

The one change is that when the hatch closes behind the person it doesn't trigger the collapse. only the killer closing the hatch should trigger the collapse. Otherwise it screws the remaining survivors.

  • Great news everybody, it's been fixed! Make sure you have the PS5 version of the game installed and click the three dots to the right of the play button, and then scroll down to add-ons. All of the add-on should now say free, assuming you already own the PS4 version. All you have to do is click Add to Library.

The only ones still not working is Charity Case, Demise of the Faithful and Head Vase. These are the final DLCs that need to be fixed.

  • Yes digital is fine.

This doesn't exactly address the OP, but it's on-topic, and I felt there should be a concise explanation of where we feel camping sits in the game.

It's up to Survivors to punish camping. When I camp, if nobody comes for the rescue, I stop because I'm losing ground. But when they come running, even if they don't rush the hook and just hang around and they're not repairing while the one on the hook is dying, I'm still profiting.

It is true that the Emblem system does not look favorably upon camping... but the best way to stop it to not to reward it.

I know all the arguments and counter arguments about it; I've heard them over and over. :)

One of DbD's core values is "player agency". We want players to have as much input on what happens in matches as possible. Eliminating camping as a strategy removes choice from both the Killer and the Survivors; it limits gameplay possibilities. Deciding to do gens instead of rescuing the one being camped is a moral decision: choosing the good of the many over the good of the one. Sometimes, the Survivors choose the good of the one over the good of the many; when they do, they often suffer dire consequences. But all of that arises from player choice.

I will not say "camping is good gameplay in DbD" as many construe my comments to mean. But the possibility, the choice leading to it, and the choices it requires Survivors to make are all part of what makes the game great: player agency. Removing those choices only reduces the range of decisions to make, which isn't good in the long run.

We have experimented extensively with anti-camping measures. In the end, the result was always that the camper just camped harder, or we had to break fundamental systems to accomodate the anti-camping measure.

Why not make it more punishing? A significant debit in blood and emblem points? Slow down the timer a bit? I agree choice is great but not all choices are healthy or optimal for the game. So with other developers do, is they implement in-game real-time deterrents to tell players, hey what you're doing isn't really optimal and you really shouldn't be doing it but you're allowed to however it's going to come at a great cost. The current player agency is really limited on the survivor's decision-making. And that's great, but the game should be more of a deterrent as well.

They cost 1000 auric but if you do the rift you get all of that back. I used those cells to buy licensed characters that I would have had to spend real money on anyways. Even if you didn’t do any of the challenges you could have earned some of those skins just by playing every day. If you didn’t check the rift to see if you did or not well that is all on you.

Doesn't Fortnite the grandpappy of battle passes not only pay you back but you make an extra few v-bucks in the process? Last I checked it was 950 to buy it and you got 1,500 in return. And everything in that season pass, all 100 tiers of items are permanently exclusive to that season? I haven't played in a long time so I don't know what the current battle pass system is like. For me the biggest issue is lack of clarity on what is going to be a forever exclusive to that rift and what may return at a later date. Armed with this information I can make a decision about whether or not I want to bother with the rift.

  • I could be wrong but I thought they said definitively that the charms were forever exclusives. I'm actually okay with some items returning, but I do think there needs to be exclusives to each riff so there's an incentive for people to do them. and it also needs to be identified in advance, so people can make an informed decision about whether they want to participate and invest time. Not everyone has unlimited time to level up to tier 70.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

This was always known. But hey, lets complain about something this is known for years. :)

To be fair they were very ambiguous, only stating that some items may return. In fact for the first rift, they weren't even sure the direction they were going to take. I think even now the official stance is what? Minimum one year for some skins to return? Even now it's not really clear what is an exclusive and what is actually returning. I think this information is important for people to decide whether it's worth grinding the rift, even buying it. Some people just don't have the time but may grind it out or even purchase levels to get a skin that will later become available more widely. So as players we should absolutely expect clarity on what they intend to do with the content of each rift.

It's yet another double standard. Killers can see DS but we already know that it's what caused the stun. Same with power struggle. But survivors see all kinds of killer perks, even ones that they shouldn't like Thrill of the Hunt. Imagine the outrage if killers got a notification when a survivor used Dead Hard or Sprint Burst in front of them.

Some of the responses are being silly. Survivors don't see when someone has pop, they're able to infer based on the regression and explosion. why would a killer see a perk that doesn't afflict them? Besides probably every red rank could easily deduce the perks of killer has. And about the hex perks, there needs to be notification to trigger certain perks like soul guard.

  • Yeah I agree with OP, they should not have been part of the advent calendar. They were just added to artificially inflate this calendar event, which has been immensely disappointing.

  • @DaKnight said:

Because all the gens can be done in 4 minutes, unless the killer is able to create pressure.

Because all the survivors can be slugged within milliseconds of the match starting. Unless someone has Unbreakable and isn't getting hovered, that match is over before it even began.

  • @Nameless said:

With perks like Ruin in the game, I don't think Oppression without a cooldown is actually going to be a big problem balancing wise. The affected gens only regress at the normal speed and the killer still has to get out of their way to kick gens which most of the time isn't worth it anyways (unless you're running pop of course).

I actually haven't had someone use the perk against me so I don't know how hard the skillcheck is but I'm assuming it's like DS and Overcharge, in which case I don't think it's going to be really problematic, but you could always just remove the seemingly useless skillcheck part of the perk if it does turn out to be too strong or annoying.

It can catch you off guard, that's about it. I think it is just like overcharge in terms of size but I'm not sure if you happen to let go at the same time if you can still clear the skill check or it fails.

  • Visually not even crazy about Auto Haven but it's basically one big dead zone. Every variant I get, way too many dead zones. I don't like the spacing of the walls and the height of the structures. It needs a few narrow passages. Ormond also suffers from way too many dead zones. I was just on that map last night and it was two rocks a tree and a gin and one of the farthest corners and then nothing but dead zone and all the way on the left was the tractor with one pallet and all the way on the right was an empty jungle gym. and directly in front was the main building. I can see all the structures for miles and likewise I could be seen for miles. The nearest structure was so far that it was guaranteed a hit even if you had Sprint burst and hope and adrenaline and dead hard all combined.

You knew someone had DS. There's an indicator on the bottom.

Why couldn't you just slug her instead of hooking her? This was on YOU, you knew she was recently unhooked why did you pick her up?

Why are you pretending this perk doesn't exist? Anyone could have DS in between the 60 seconds she/he gets unhooked.

    This was on YOU.

Don't blame the perk because you were sloppy.

Exactly right but people just love to complain. survivors aren't allowed to have any perk in response to recurring issues in the game. So never bring decisive strike, borrowed time or unbreakable. Most killer players perceive these perks as unfair.

  • I would just file the report, it's better to get rid of people like that. Simply filing a report doesn't mean something's necessarily going to be done. The team behind moderation will review the records and the footage and make a determination.

  • @AndalusianDog said:

    Hello. Same problem here.

Still no fix? Any news from Sony?

Well the same thing happened with another game and they got it fixed within 5 hours. A month later and there's still no resolution is amazing to me. This isn't a tiny issue, people can't access the content they paid for! tomorrow I'm going to contact Sony's customer support team and just request a refund of all of my DLC purchases. This is simply taking too long and there's no timeline. The fix has to be initiated by the publisher, according to Sony. So the best thing at this point might be just to start requesting refunds, since you can't access content you paid for.

  • Always file an in-game report of the grievance and then upload the evidence to YouTube and submit a ticket to support. You never know what's going to happen, maybe they'll get banned or warned. I'm sure they keep track of complaints against users like some other games do.

  • It feels somewhat worse to me during certain circumstances. I was going against The Trapper and my ping was consistently 22 to 35ms. I did however notice a lot of the hits were really questionable, I was getting hit from significant distance and at a major delay. Even the stuns were extremely delayed. I don't even remember if we died or escaped but at the end of the match I noticed he was TTV, so I looked him up later that night so I could watch the video of the match and he went in the match with 140 ping and had a red arrow in the top left corner and sometimes it would fluctuate to a white one. I forgot what that symbol is called but I believe it has to do with when you have a bad connection? so long story short, a lot of his hits were extremely fake even on his screen but it's still allowed them to connect.

try the options in the console UI to restore your licenses and then the one to sync your game data and restart the ps5. other games where people had trouble downloading dlc on ps5 claimed it helped some of them. It might help some people with this game too if it's an issue with being granted access to the dlc and not the actual account progress itself.

it's not a license issue, it's an entitlement issue. That's a store-related issue and the only ones that can resolve that is Sony and the publisher. Syncing game data only works for games exclusively stored locally, like most single player campaign games. That feature is for saves stored on PlayStation Plus. Always online games like Destiny, Overwatch and Dead by Daylight are stored on the servers. However thank you for your suggestions, it is helpful for other games.

  • @SocialDistomancy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/205782/can-anyone-access-their-dlc-on-ps5

I didn't have that problem myself, but I've seen others bring it up. What I did was accidentally install the ps4 version originally on ps5, before I realized I needed to acccept and then installa different version since I assumed it was just gonna use higher settings by default on the same version kind of like tweaking your settings with a game on pc. I immediately befor eplaying any games, even astro I think, downloaded all of my save data from the cloud including for the ps4 dbd. I believe starting up dbd on the ps4 versionw ith that data may have something to do with my not running into the problem you and some others had on the ps5 version once I installed it. It probably isn't related, but it could be though and is worth looking into.

you could install the ps4 version side by side with it, and then load up the ps4 version on ps5 and see if you have access tot hose dlcs there to help give them info that might narrow it down for them. also there is in the ps5 UI a setting somewhere, I think related to your profile but maybe in the game and apps ection, that restores game licenses and another to sync your console's data (like for trophies) and maybe use both of those and then restart the ps5 and see if it works. dlc issues I think a few people fixed that way in other games on ps5

That's not the issue because the save data is stored on the servers. However I'm wondering if it's a region issue, which region is your account in? The console and offline sharing option is what you're referring to and I've already activated that. I've identified the issue in an earlier post in this topic if you want to go back to read it. It has to do with the entitlements on PS5. It seems to be fine if you play the game on the purchasing account, but it's an issue if you don't.

  • @BlindMole said:

Wait, this is still an issue??

Question though, do you recover your characters leveled up or do you have to start over?

Yes still an issue, but everything is stored on the servers so you don't lose anything or have to level up. I just temporarily don't have access to my paid characters.

  • @juanitopower07 said:

The issue is that not a lot of people, compared to other complaints, have this issue right now... Yeah I knew that was going to be an issue, the population being much smaller. Is there any way to raise a ticket with Sony? If the store offers products that you have bought but can't be accessed and can't be bought because you apparently have them, they might be able to convince BHVR that this should be expedited.

I do have a case open with PlayStation support. However they're probably going to say I have to contact the publisher because they are the ones who deal with the licensing issues. Another developer had something similar happen and when they discovered the bug they resolved it within 48 hours.

  • Few days shy of a month and this is still an ongoing issue.

  • @HollowsGrief said:

You want to know what else is as fun as being tunneled? When you chase someone else, down and hook them, go back to a generator you know the survivors are going to slam, watch the gen get finished in your face only to see the recently unhooked survivor (who finished said gen in your face) use Sprint Burst to dash away into a locker only to be pulled out and still DS you anyways then run straight for the killer shack.

You want to know what else is fun? When for no reason the killer decides to focus exclusively on you and as soon as you get unhooked, they go after you ferociously. And because you went down at the 59 second mark, the perk that is supposed to deal with this issue no longer works. Or when you've been tunneled on your first hook and you were forced to use DS then, and on your second hook the killer knows this and instantly downs you and instantly puts you right back on the hook! Or the killer anticipates DS and slugs you for the duration of the timer, or my favorite they down you but don't care and still pick you up and they still tunnel thereafter! Killers really go out of their way to circumvent and bypass DS especially when they are actually tunneling so I understand why some survivors go out of their way to get some utility out of a one-time use perk with a list of activation conditions. I play killer in red rank and I know there are some cases where people abuse it, but on the other hand there are a lot of cases where survivors get zero utility out of a perk to provide some relief to being tunnelled. so for me the solution is not to gut the perk and make it even easier for us killers to tunnel, it just needs to be more effective and narrowly tailored to fulfill the stated goal of being anti tunnel. in my opinion, the current iteration does not do an effective job of that.

  • @zoozoom6 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1796025#Comment_1796025

everyone is fine with DS as an anti-tunneling measure

only survivor mains are ok with DS as 60 seconds of invincibility while they finish gens in front of the killer and hop in a locker when they lose a chase

Lol if it was actually effective at dealing with tunneling, I'm in favor of every change in the book. However what people want to do is gut the perk, make it even less effective than it already is and basically make it much easier for The Killer to tunnel. This is all under the guise that some killers get hit with it despite not tunneling, but no one wants to talk about the fact that killers can easily circumvent the perk altogether even when they're tunneling. Not to mention the fact that you can be tunneled twice yet the perk is limited to one time only. It's already easy to circumvent and bypass, and people want to make changes that make it even easier to do so. So yes eliminate all of the possibilities outside of being tunneled but then it has to be effective at being anti tunnel.

  • @TheKnowlesFam said:

TBH every time i use DS i get tunneled HARDER. it's supposed to be anti-tunnel but almost encourages it. i've done away with it in my perk builds. the only chance is to combine with poised and hope a gen gets done while in mid tunnel from ds. its NEVER really helped with tunneling. BT has helped far more than DS. I don't care if they nerf it or get rid of it because it doesn't help as much as it promotes tunneling.

Because lets be honest, if you get stabbed in the face for trying to put someone in time out it KINDA hurts your Ego a lil bit. But when others can grab the killers attention mid chase, that's when DS works and I can get away from them safely but it requires people actually working together and when i'm paired with 3 rando default characters... DS does NOT work as well.

I agree, it's not really effective at dealing with tunneling. One of the big issues with the perk is that it only works once meanwhile you can be tunneled twice. You still get tunneled after using DS, and then on your second unhook? It's free reign!! You're basically doomed even with BT. The Killer seems more determined to get you when they know you don't have DS.

Hey Man, exactly my situation, two differents account one owns the game the other owns the Dlc but on the ps4 that was no problem, on this one the license is locked by the purchase regardless of who else is using that console! Did you find a solution?

The devs will need to do one of two things. Lift the purchase restriction and price the PS5 versions of DLCs that you own on PS4 as $0 so we can rebuy the PS5 entitlement at no cost. Or automatically grant the PS5 entitlements based on which PS4 entitlements we own. Unfortunately both solutions require the devs to work with Sony. The good news is that this can be achieved quickly, per another dev that ran into this issue a few months ago with PS3 and PS4 entitlements. It took them three days to correct the entitlement issue with Sony.

I confirm this, when i enter the store, the content that i have already bought appear with Unavailable status, I honestly don´t know what could be the issue as to why the PS4 version of the game in the PS5 recognizes my DLC in all my accounts but the PS5 version of the game doesn´t, honestly is pretty weird, hope it gets fixed soon

I figured it out, and was able to test it with someone else. It's really complicated to explain but basically for some reason the PlayStation store recognizes that because we own the PS4 version of the DLCs it precludes purchasing the PS5 versions. The problem is that it's not allowing us to acquire the PS5 version of the entitlement. This can be done automatically via the system or requiring us to purchase the DLCs at no cost. I submitted everything to the staff and they told me they're going to forward it. hopefully this will be fixed within the coming days because it's extremely inconvenient not being able to access paid content.

  • Visually looks good but the jungle gyms seem lower and more spacious than before? I see too many dead zones on Auto, just vast plains of nothing but a few sections of grass. It doesn't feel as real as the original, it feels like a pop-up book or movie set.

I thought so, because many dont know that there are 2 different versions on ps5. first i didnt knew this too :D its a bit complicated with 2 game versions

I was initially right, it did update. 4.004.001 is the latest version from today. It could be a region issue, I'm playing the US digital edition of the game.

You haven't seen anything yet. Look at the new Ormond. It is now a killer's paradise. But it is exactly what I predicted.

Just went in via custom and it was pretty bad. Just openness and one pallet near the water tower hill area. Nothing until the main building on that corner.

@nicholas glad that worked for you, a few people are saying that they've tried that and it's not working for them. I've messaged people for further information

Cancel that, it was the PS4 version. Mine also isn't updating. @blondemagnolia was right.

  • Manually initiate it, that worked for me. Go to the game and select options then update. I think that's the path.

  • No one knows what kind of Mori or how you will use them. Ime every time I stay for a Mori match, it is 100% tunnel off hook to delete you. However if someone cancels the Mori match, The Killer messages to declare they only intended to Mori after two hooks. Uh huh I'm sure you were. No one wants to deal with them, not fun and you lose a pip depending if you were first or second.

  • I did notice something today. I own everything except TBOK and in the PS5 Store, it doesn't allow me to purchase the PS5 versions of my paid DLC, they are listed as Unavailable versus Purchased as with other upgraded content. It says I already own another version so the products conflict. However it does allow me to buy The Nightmare DLC again for USD $7.99 on PS5 despite owning the PS4 version. Perhaps the store entitlements need to be updated to allow owners of the paid PS4 DLCs to be able to purchase the PS5 versions for free or upgrade it. Not sure if that's the problem.

  • The developers already spoke about this. They said that it would be too much of a chore for survivors if they have to go hunt for their alarm clocks. The other thing they mention was is that giving Freddy more information would provide him with too much map awareness in some cases making the match hopeless for survivors. They considered allowing him to get a notification when someone was at an alarm clock but then they feared the killer would just camp and protect the alarm clocks. Something that we sometimes see with The Pig, camping jigsaw boxes and harassing people trying to remove their RBT.

  • I'm disappointed we're not getting a map again. I always look forward to new realms or variants added. I'm thrilled with the graphics update but not a fan that it comes at such a high cost. I would rather see one realm updated and a new Chapter map than two realms and no new map.

  • I hope this is resolved tomorrow! I would like to access all of my paid DLCs on PS5.
