  • What I love about the discussion is that in topics about balance, everyone agrees that no one misses the SC. However when the topic is to eliminate or reduce the difficulty of the SC, suddenly people think it is needed. The reality is people do miss the SC due to many reasons but often you hear: technical issues, lag spike, pressure, nerves, losing focus, forgetting, or just outright failing to click on-time. This of course is a tremendous benefit for The Killer that is tunneling, nothing like insta-downing a rescue and not having to deal with DS. I think the only thing that should be reconsidered is the deactivation of DS if you miss it.

  • Terrible experience on PS5 as Survivor. I've even seen killers with the red ping icon and none of their hits are rejected, every strike hits despite delay and distance. I usually get 20-30ms ping but the last two days have been 40ms for some reason.

  • Unless you get unlucky and found first, but many Deliverance players I see are super stealthy until they secure a safe rescue. Why is that requirement there? It already has the drawback of being Broken and only working one time. Would it be too strong without the Safe Rescue?

  • In most cases the DC doesn't hurt The Killer, it makes it much easier to get a 3k.

What’s enough of a problem and how could they even get numbers on how many people camp? I personally know 2 people who stopped playing the game because camping just made the game too boring for them to play. How many other people have quit the game early because of this? If things like this which ruin the fun of the whole game weren’t possible imagine how much bigger the player base could have been?

Who knows how they decide. The emblem tracks campers thus they can likely see the data. Camping isn't fun for either side, so I never do it. It is bad and they realize it but off memory, I believe they aren't seeing kill success rates high enough to worry.

  • He's ugly and has no outfits, not even a Christmas sweater. I P3 him bc it seemed like his face rework was gonna happen but now seems less likely. I wish they just made outfits for him, something to buy.

  • Most if not all of the outfits are coming, I think the official minimum is six months for a possible release. Imo they need to make it more clear which are exclusive and not. And afaik all of the Awakening outfits are scheduled to be released, Claudette and Trapper are this month. So I think Awakening had no exclusive full outfits? Just charms and maybe some random recolor parts.

This comparison is a bad one. The killer did not get 12 hooks. From an objective standpoint, 12 hooks is the killer objective, and 5 gens is the survivor's objective. Kills and Escapes are not. They happen after the objective.

So someone getting 4 kills in "2 minutes" means they slugged and 1 hooked everyone.. that's not impressive, nor remotely close to actually completing the objective.

This game, the objective was actually done in 2.5 mins. End of story.

There is literally no killer equivalency of being able to 12 hook a team in 2.5 mins. Not an Iri Head Huntress, not an "OP" Spirit or Nurse.

The objective is to escape or kill, how you get there doesn't ultimately matter. The game doesn't care that you got there via an accelerated path. You can escape without doing a single generator, you can kill without a single hook. I just don't see while you're trying to draw a distinction between the two.

  • this topic comes up every so often where someone is under the impression that EGC is supposed to be a killer tool for free kills. News flash, it's not. It's goal is very clear and it accomplishes that goal. If you don't want to see a gate at 99, go open it.

the "issue" is not a problem of the game... its a problem of survivors not accepting how the game works. There is no problem to be solved.

In some cases you're right but not always. Many games have situations that one role engages in, but yet the developer will still remedy the player induced and created problem. The developers have already stated that face camping isn't ideal for either side but they've also stated that they don't think it's enough of a problem because the numbers aren't there.

Orion and others have mentioned that anti camping mechanics were tried a long time ago on the ptb. Survivors abused those mechanics so they never made it out of the ptb.

That doesn't mean the door is closed on the topic. Developers often have to iterate on changes until they get it right.

  • Even if they implement a grab validation very little would change. Whatever version of hit validation is implemented, it's the most liberal value available. Has anyone seen any videos of hits that have been rejected? A few weeks ago I went against a killer that was getting the most insane hits and grabs. They happened to be TTV so I watched a video of their perspective and before the match started the person had a high ping and was complaining about how laggy he was. They even had that red icon in the top left corner throughout the majority of the match. Even on their screen, the hits were very sketchy and in some cases it was obvious so he was laughing about it. Not a single hit was rejected! I just don't think they have the appetite or the courage to really address the latency issue. It's something they want to address but they are so afraid of the killer, this was made clear during one of the streams where they talked about how devastating it would be if a killer goes to hit and the hit doesn't connect or is rejected and how that survivor could loop for another 20 seconds. However clearly the hit isn't devastating to a survivor who may be on death hook and goes down, that's totally okay. As long as the killer gets their fake hit!

Get rid of humans playing killer.

    Make killer AI.

You want people to play how you want and that is not going to happen.

When playing games with other humans, you need to accept that you can't control how they play.

Not true, there are lots of games where the developers implement mechanisms to discourage certain behavior. Currently face camping and tunneling isn't really discouraged and in fact can be very effective. It's not about disallowing or punishing it but making it so that doing a certain action is considered so taboo that you don't choose to do it. Some ways to discourage is implementing measures that make it very costly to do. I'm not sure what that cost or those measures are but whatever they are they need to be intrinsic to the game, not a solution that requires survivors to use a perk.

The Nightmare DLC was released on PS5 on the same day as Binding. I'm not sure about any other editions of the game that come bundled with various DLC. If there was an upgrade version eligible, it would be in the PlayStation Store in the PS5 section. So I would go there, look up Dbd and if you have a version that's eligible for free upgrade then you would see the option to purchase at no or low cost.

It's weird, because dlc I previously purchased for the ps4 version are now purchasable again for 0,25€ in the ps5 store. But for my friend with a different psn country they were all free.

I don't know the specifics but in some markets, they can't offer totally free content so they have to charge a small amount. This has to do with the law in that region.

  • That would be way too generous, if they did offer any it would be a really tiny amount. Otherwise in just two seasons someone would have enough to get the paid pass. I don't see it ever happening, instead I think they need to offer blood point bonuses, items, add-ons, they need to fill up the track with more items. Way too many tiers are empty.

Wait isn't stealth how everyone was supposed to play? And when it comes to so called teammate-induced tunneling is ds still unfair or not?

Also will we see killer-induced genrush video too?

No because everything that happens in the game is the survivor's fault. I'm not super crazy about his example, I agree that it is definitely induced when you're in a chase and the survivor runs towards the hook and rescues in your face. However you're not going to find many people that are going to go out of their way to attract the killer's attention but then even so, I have personally done that many times for friends and the killer will outright ignore and continue to tunnel or they will down you and then still go after the other person. basically the expectation is unless you go out of your way to make sure you're seen, the killer will tunnel the rescuer because they're not going to play the game and go look for other survivors or patrol generators. However in the same breath, since it's not their fault that they're tunneling, you shouldn't be able to use DS.

The at this time, gives me some hope I guess.

ps. Sorry about the caps, when I copied the text it changed the font size.

I can definitely confirm that the information about trophies was added way after the launch. Sackboy just got an update last week, all of the trophies auto pop assuming you import your save file from the PS4 version. It's really weird that this is how it's being done for dead by daylight, because all of the progress is stored on the servers so why does it reset the progress.

"There are 3 other Survivors!" is always a weird argument to me. It implies Decisive Strike is ONLY ever used at the beginning of the game.

This scenario gets a hell of a lot worse when you are down to the last two Survivors. Survivor A unhooks Survivor B, Survivor B has Decisive Strike.... soooo.... I'm just supposed to let him go and I am FORCED to exclusively go find Survivor A? Weaksauce.

If you're going to mention something I pointed out, why not quote me directly? I'm here, actively participating and have no problem doing so despite the attempted insults and denigration by some participants in this topic.

Again I never said any of that, firstly I can't possibly list every single scenario that a killer is presented with. The matches are dynamic and there are a lot of factors to consider. However my saying there are three other players isn't an argument, it is a statement of fact. Ultimately you have to consider many factors including the state of the game and how many players are alive in the trial. Obviously things change over time. The bottom line is you don't always have to go after the newly rescued person, in some cases you do and that's a choice you make but again that's the point of player agency. We have a lot of freedom on the things we can do, but sometimes those choices are less than optimal. You can slug the second to last survivor to bypass getting hit with decisive strike but then there's a risk the person has unbreakable and can recover, rescue the person and they escape. my ultimate point was that there are choices, whether you like those choices or not is your opinion but they are choices.

    Yo, bro!

There are 3 other survivors, my guy!

Just let that guy go finish that gen when you have 1-2 gens left.

    IT BK!

I don't care if people bring whatever, but the idea of literally letting someone walk away consequence free like that guy is suggestion is hilarious.

That's not what I actually said but yes there are three other people. So why go after the person that was just rescued when there are three other people? Yes I know, there are myriad circumstances where it makes sense for whatever reason to do so. Just be prepared for the potential incoming DS. You know how the perk works so don't act surprised.

  • So would it completely disable deliverance or would that be the exception?

Maybe we don't see healer builds run often is because Plague and Legion exist? I usually just bring a medkit and run Pharmacy if I want to heal myself and others and if I'm feeling generous, I'll run For the People instead.

The reason behind this is that there are killers who can completely shut down this type of build and dedicating too many perk slots for it can backfire. Have you tried running a stealth build against a Restraint Doctor? That's how playing a healing build against Legion and Plague feels like.

Yeah they can be a lot of fun but every single time I run a healer build it's those two killers lol I really like autodidact when you have the five tokens, it comes in real handy especially during the collapse.

    Read my post again.

Decisive Strike is NOT an anti-tunneling perk. Say that nice and loud so you can hear yourself say it. Because it isn't. I can, and have, on MANY occasions, interacted with other survivors, even hooked them, in that minute, and then still gotten Decisive Strike'd.

The minute timer is WAAAAAY too long. You cannot cry you are being tunneled if another Survivor got the hook within that time limit. Tunneling is when you get TARGETED for removal at the exclusion of other Survivors. Yet for some reason Decisive Strike continues to remain active even after I go after other Survivors.

The nanosecond I hook someone, your Decisive Strike should deactivate. It's objective proof you are not being tunneled. As it stands right now it is like getting the Gold Star in Mario Brothers, and you know it.

I agree it is not an anti tunnel perk, and I'm glad that you agree as well. It is simply a grab the survivor within 60 seconds of being rescued and you will be stunned perk. It can provide some relief to tunneling, but it does have some offensive uses outside of that. I'm in agreement with fine tuning the perk to narrow the scope for tunneling but then it would need some adjustments on the survivor side of the perk. This is where people often diverge, they want to see the timer reduced but they want to see no other changes to make it more effective at dealing exclusively with being tunneled. I just don't know what that would look like, it obviously couldn't be too strong where it was guaranteed to provide total relief to tunneling but it should be more effective and narrowly tailored to anti tunnel. I don't normally agree with a lot of the suggested changes because I think they would provide tremendous value for the killer but from the survivor's perspective, who is the victim of being tunnelled would provide almost no relief.

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1837867#Comment_1837867

There is so much wrong with this post.

Killers would not "circumvent" as you put it, if those perks were not there ALL the time. The fact they are so prevalent you can almost be 100% certain they are going to be there is the first red flag.

    "Don't tunnel or engage"

You mean let them do whatever they want for FREE because you brought the Small PP build? No, that's a garbage argument. You just don't want to admit that Decisive Strike in its current state is weaponized. "Stop tunneling" is not the issue when you unhook someone I hooked, I spend the next 45 seconds hitting and chasing two other Survivors, kick a gen, swat off a totem cleanse attempt, and then your purple haired self runs right back into my line of sight brazenly, I down you again, but OOOOOP! Still within that minute, and I get Decisive Strike'd.

    "Don't tunnel" my [BAD WORD]

I'm talking about in the current state of the game. Yes if you want to avoid DS, you need to not pick the person up within 60 seconds of being rescued. That is well established, there are no surprises there. However because a lot of killers go out of their way to tunnel and then bypass DS by slugging, it makes sense that survivors will also bring Unbreakable. alternatively just avoid that person for 60 seconds, there are three other people to go after. Even accidentally I almost never run into DS. Unless they're all wearing the same skin and I lost track of which is which. Again the reason people bring unbreakable for the most part is as a backup for killers that openly circumvent DS.

I could list thousands of situations where I have been tunneled for no reason and then slugged. So in this case, DS was completely circumvented and nullified and provided zero relief. And some don't even care about DS, they will instantly pick you up and resume the tunnel after the stun. However I should feel sorry for killers, because for the next 60 seconds I'm untouchable they can't do anything or I'm guaranteed to escape. All of these DS topics are always about the poor killer, never about the poor survivor that is getting tunnelled unnecessarily the whole match or left slugged on the floor with no remedy. And how dare they bring unbreakable to provide some relief because that's just unacceptable.

  • @Raccoon said:

Ah, stop tunneling AND slugging if you run across the same survivor within 60s of unhook - Literally giving them the 60s of invincibility that people are complaining about (well, it's actually an enhanced version of this in your case, as the survivor never gets downed or uses DS).

In all fairness, Unbreakable is pretty useful outside of this combo, though, as it still provides the recovery bonus (only counterable by Knock Out) regardless of whether you pick yourself up or not.

The perks are both in the game and it's ok for anyone to use this combo, obviously, but your viewpoint and suggested solution are, in my opinion, asinine.

Newsflash, there are three other survivors. You don't have to keep going after the same person especially within 60 seconds of being rescued. That's your choice and those choices can have consequences. Everyone knows how decisive strike works so no one should be surprised if they pick someone up within 60 seconds they are likely to be struck. You want to keep going after the same people within the allocated time that is well established and then cry and complain about getting hit with DS. I love when survivors bring these two perks and BT because they're not going to get a single use out of any of those perks in my trials.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/215531/just-remember-dbd-is-survivor-sided

Yeah, hit validation just doesn't seem to work at all.

It still favours the killer no matter what your ping is

Yeah it does, I've actually gotten matches where my ping has been as low as 24 and still horrible hits. The devs are just afraid of making things fair and server-based because they might upset some killers. Especially killers who are accustomed to taking advantage of fake hits. Are there any videos of rejected hits from The Killers perspective? I have not seen any and I'm curious what that looks like. If it does exist, it must be a very rare occurrence. one other thing I have noticed is that we're not seeing a flood of threads complaining about hits not connecting or being rejected. So that means that it must be extremely rare or non-existent. Every stream of killer matches where they have a high ping and that white or red icon in the top left, none of their hits are rejected.

  • What's interesting is that DS and UB are subject to the killers play style. If you don't tunnel, or engage with the survivor within 60 seconds of being rescued and you certainly don't slug anyone, these perks gain zero usage. There are times where I get no use out of either perk because the killer isn't playing in a way that provides the opportunity to use these one-time perks. The killer has a lot of power to nullify survivor perks. And many killer mains don't want to talk about, is the the cornerstone of people running these two perks is because so many killers go out of their way to circumvent DS. I know firsthand over the course of the last few years that some killers will openly tunnel and then slug and wait out the timer, sometimes being unnecessarily hostile and toxic about it. so I totally understand why there is a segment of survivors that will go out of their way to use their one-time decisive strike in the match against the killer who so brazenly went out of their way to circumvent it. So yes people jump in lockers and bring unbreakable to ensure some utility. Maybe stop tunneling and slugging and trying to circumvent the perks that are supposed to provide relief for these situations and survivors won't have to bring two or three perks allocated for that one situation.

Those people do drown it out but ignore it. It's easy to tunnel, it's also effective thus majority do it for whatever reason. Some are brazen and others try to pretend they don't or justify it in some way.

DS is not 1-time use. Assuming you don't get 1-hooked or 2-hooked, you get 2 minutes, split into 2 1-minute bursts, where the killer can't pick you up. You get even more time if the killer isn't specifically counting down the seconds, and waits 10 more unnecessary seconds just to make sure they don't get hit by it.

It is in fact one time use. Avoiding the killer for 60 seconds or them slugging you for that time doesn't constitute a use of the perk. You've successfully redeemed the perk upon successfully hitting the skill check within 60 seconds of being rescued. Thereafter the perk is permanently deactivated for the remainder of the trial.

I wouldn't have a problem with DS tbh; except for survivors being jerks about it. Like it's some grand 100% get out of jail free card, surprise, it's not. That You have to leave them alone if they hit you with it.

Like they get unhooked, jump on a gen, okay w/e, you come back later and that gen is almost done and they let you grab them right off the gen, and then DS you and then jump RIGHT back on it right in front of you. Maybe they finish it maybe they don't but of course you bloody hit and hook them again why wouldn't you? Yet as soon as the game ends they are like "WHY DID YOU TUNNEL ME NOOB KILLER?!" like anytime they use DS EVER they scream tunnelling killer and that's just nonsense. It's not tunnelling when you are throwing yourself in front of the killer and jumping in lockers in front of them to DS them, but sometimes a killer runs them down after that and kills them and they throw a fit like "NUH YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO JUST LEAVE ME ALONE AFTER I STABBED YOU IT'S THE LAWWWW!?!?!"

I agree but I ignore people like that. I still don't blame those Survivors that go out of their way to redeem their one-time limited use perk especially considering the fact that the bulk of killers really go out of their way to circumvent it. This compounds the problem further bc now people bring UB to help counter the circumvention employed by killers. And then killer players want to cry about how unfair things are.

  • During certain circumstances, especially the hopeless category you should be able to accelerate your bleed out to move on. It was the principal justification for why Survivors can no longer struggle when everyone is on death hook. They didn't want Survivors wasting Killer time by struggling until the last drop. Imo you should be able to after being slugged for X time as well.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

The best way imo to deal with DS outside of obviously not excisivelly focusing on one survivor is to either slug and force them to either waste time of a teammate or use up their unbreakabill or take it if they jump in a locker.

You do NOT chase the survivor that just DSed you ofcourse, you're just asking to get genrushed that way. It wouldn't be an anti tunneling perk if you could do that

You can still tunnel after DS, it's so easy and effective and that's a problem the Survivors are often faced with. Every discussion about DS is strictly from the perspective of the poor killer but never from the poor survivors that are getting relentlessly tunneled and deleted. Imo DS is a chase extender unless the Gates are open and you're close enough to run out. The Killer can easily (and frequently) will continue to tunnel after successfully stunning them.

They already have. You'd have to go digging through the forums too find it.

I've seen that post about the hit validation, they're still more information they could provide. Blizzard has done a few net code videos, one being 30 minutes another one 18 minutes and the third one was 15 minutes.

  • I think it's time the devs release a deep analysis and explanation of how the game handles hits, including hit validation. Blizzard did this for Overwatch and it was amazing to watch. It was very insightful, very detailed about what happens in different scenarios and it provided a lot of information. I know they've touched upon it here and there over the course of different streams but I don't think they've ever dedicated more than a few minutes talking about the details. I think the issue is they are way too generous with the validation. I would love to know the hit rejection rate, it must be like 5%? I know when I play killer none of my hits have ever been rejected.

How can it be skill based tho? There's no skill involved in holding M1 on the gate or going to point A to point B

Most of the game is exactly what you explain. I was thinking more strategic, being smart about your movement, where to go which gate to open, went to check, etc. For the killer it's a pretty brain dead experience at the end, just keep going back and forth or watching both gates until you see a red light and then all you have to do is protect that gate don't even bother chasing the survivor!

  • They need to add obstacles to the exit gates, so that the killer has to actually walk over to the exit gate to see the progress. Even when they are far, depending on the killer and a few other factors, it can still be pretty much hopeless. I wish it was more skill based than RNG. A lot of it has to do with placement and the killer.

  • Ime the way The Killer plays dictates a lot of how the trial will play out. The big issue is that most killers want to circumvent DS, so people bring Unbreakable. The circumvention efforts also results in people wanting to gain utility out of this one-time use perk, so they go out of their way to redeem it. I see it all the time with streamers, the same ones that cry and complain about DS. They openly tunnel, then leave the person slugged on the floor to bypass DS with gusto and if that person were to dare to do something bold like finish a generator or go in a locker or a rescue, the person is up in arms about how outrageous and the nerve of that survivor. If you go out of your way to circumvent DS, don't be surprised when survivors go out of their way to gain usage out of it.

  • It's not that stealth players are disliked, it's just the ones that are hiding all game while everyone is dying. The ones that bring The Killer to you with Bond and will rescue you and then UE away while you're getting tunneled. my favorite of the ones that eventually get found and then last microseconds in a chase and immediately disconnect when they're put into the dying state.

  • EGC in general is in favor of The Killer. I don't think the developer sought to make it that way but it just is. Have they ever released the stats for each killer and the last survivor during the collapse? The one thing that surprised me was that they can close the hatch from any angle. I thought they would be limited to just closing it from the front and slamming it down and was surprised when the first time I interacted with it the killer could close it from behind.

  • Yeah I understand that, the one thing I don't like about his power since we're discussing it is that it shouldn't work on someone that was newly rescued. it's the one thing that really sucks, you get rescued and then of course The Legion comes back to the area, finds your rescuer hits them and then knows exactly where you're at. I know how to play against his power, but sometimes you're not always able to get far enough away to avoid triggering KI. Or you are rescued by someone that decided to go in the same direction you did lol

Well, as a man who lives in such remote part of the world, I can say only one thing - if you don't like current hit system, may be YOU should be playing another game?

Oh yes that makes a lot of sense. Everyone with a great connection that's unhappy about getting lag hit should stop playing the game so the people with really bad connections can play. For the record that's what the developers of another game said. That's not what I said. I just happen to think that players with a great connection shouldn't have to suffer so much to provide a benefit to people with a bad connection, even if it is beyond their control. I know another game that gives you a warning when going into a very sensitive game mode, that if your connection fluctuates or is poor, your experience will suffer. Not here, if you have a bad connection your experience for the most part is fine it's the experience of other players that is ruined.

What they want is to don't screw people who live too far from server or can't afford good internet. And DBD server coverage isn't great, you know.

Yeah I understand that but at the same time you're screwing the experience over other players is also bad design. The approach of the Overwatch developers at Blizzard is pretty cut and dry. In so many words, they're worried about creating a fair and consistent experience for players. So if you live in a very remote part of the world, if you have tons of connection issues that maybe Overwatch isn't the game for you and if it is, you just have to deal with some setbacks related to your connection problems. What about raising the bar for people to queue up as killer? give them warnings that their connection is inconsistent or really bad and is such their experience as a killer may be less than optimal. Survivors have endured years of the killers being favored and everyone's getting tired of it now. It's also devastating for survivors to get lag hit, but the concern is always exclusively about what the killer sees and how their experience is going to feel.

  • Yeah I wish we got more insight. I actually haven't been to this map yet, so if anyone has any anecdotes about what they've seen it would be nice to get some idea. I keep forgetting to put an offering when I do play.

  • They are really afraid of implementing too much validation because they still want hits to feel snappy for the killer but don't really care about screwing over the survivor. That was apparent in several of their streams. I would love for them to try either in PTB or a weekend, server side hit authority. They could also try connection-based matchmaking but they already have problems with the matchmaker so who knows what that would do to the game. What's the trigger for hit validation? Is it now 499 ms from 500? It still seems extremely generous.

  • I didn't realize, what did they change exactly? So after you successfully use deception you can't go into a locker for 3 seconds? Is that official and intentional or glitch? I haven't tried this perk yet since the patch today.

  • Yeah she's one of the most annoying killers to go against. It's almost like her hatchets have tracking. They might as well go around corners and follow you aggressively.

9/10 games are survivors using DS+Unbreakable and its super boring.

Avoid survivors that have been rescued within the last 60 seconds, and don't slug anyone. They will never get to use their perks on me. Also please bring BT because you're guaranteed to not get any use out of it. So 75% of their perks are useless against me. Yeah I realize that for some killers they feel it is necessary to slug, camp or tunnel. I just don't.

    Actually, they did.

The charms are exclusive. Everything else is essentially early access for people who grind the rift. And for much less grind and Auric Cell cost than they would be in the store.

I'm not interested in subjectivity about the perceived value proposition. Just strictly interested in the exclusivity information. I remember reading that the charms were exclusive, but have they stated that officially? Afaik the skins remain ambiguous, some are subject to return but others will remain exclusive. Thus my point still stands.
