Lately I've been going against a few killers who get really offended if even a gen gets done, calling it "genrushing".

If you are chasing a survivor for long enough and a gen gets done, how is it genrushing? To survive, the only thing survivors need to do is open the gates and leave, which only get powered if you do gens.

Should we start just going up to you a give you a free down? Maybe suicide on hook so you get a free kill? I seriously don't understand the "genrush" mentality.

Survivors are supposed to do gens to survive, killers don't need to facecamp/nod/hit on hook to get a kill (if you need to face camp to get a single kill, be my guest I guess?).

Doing gens shouldn't be seen as a personal attack to you, or as survivors being toxic, to a point you feel the need to BM.

People always talk about the Survivor's Handbook for The Killer but there never wanna discuss The Killer's Handbook for Survivors. Basically some of the rules are: don't do gens while The Killer is chasing, never use DS, UB or SG at any point during the Trial, don't rescue with BT in the TR, don't take a hit during BT, never sabo a hook, don't cleanse Hex Totems ever but if you must wait at least 10 min, never loop, etc.

and you know how this game works? it wasn't able to be cross play till recently, and this happened shortly before the new generation of consoles came out. Other games have had YEARS and YEARS of working on multiple platforms like that. you are comparing other companies and other programming styles (how the game is coded). now with a game that we are playing has to grow and it will. time will tell what will happen and how it will be worked on and if there will be a way to unify the coding and then no matter who you are there will be no crossplay indication. there are so many things that have to be done and right now it is as it is. arguing that behavior is at fault brings in the fact that you are just someone that doesn't want the game to grow and wants to yell at a wall. These people are working at the game and you cut them down for giving you what you wanted "CROSSPLAY" and suddenly the new consoles are out and now it's "CROSSPLAY but you HAVE to give us everyone on the same company!!!" when it wasn't their idea to make the consoles different but they did what they could to give people what they wanted, and YES a great number of people wanted crossplay. ah well enjoy yelling at a wall that will continue to evolve.

Your post is more complicated than it would be to enable cross-generation play. Sorry to say but you're wrong and have no idea what you're talking about.

Afaik no other dev distinguishes between PS5 or XSX and other members of the same console family as different for the purposes of playing together. Major games and even much smaller titles treat PS4/PS5 and X1/XSX|S as the same for these purposes. Destiny 2 and Overwatch, two games that don't support cross-play allow cross-generation play. BVHR has decided to consider the next-gen systems as another platform from the current-gen ones and require enabling cross-play. They are free to do so but it is ultimately unnecessary. This is what most people are talking about. Here is a good explanation of the choices another game presents:

    • Cross-Generation Play is always on. Xbox Series X|S players can play with and against Xbox One players. PlayStation 5 players can play with and against PlayStation 4 players.
    • Cross-Play is optional and must be enabled. It allows you to play with and against players across every supported platform. The following are supported platforms: Steam, Windows Store, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and Nintendo Switch
    • Console Only Cross-Play is optional and must be enabled. It allows you to play with and against players across every supported console based platform. The following are console based supported platforms: PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and Nintendo Switch.
    • Supported hardware on PlayStation Network: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and PlayStation 5.
    • Supported hardware on Xbox Live: Xbox One, Xbox One X, and Xbox Series X|S.

You can decide to opt-out of Cross-Play or Console Only Cross-Play while maintaining access to Cross-Generation Play. You can always play with and against players within your own console family independent of your cross-play choices.

the problem is if you have to have crossplay on the ps5 AND the xbox series X that means these are different platforms because they have different requirements. I had said I had not heard of any issues like this on the ps5 so i was not sure. so do not blame Behavior, blame sony and microsoft as they made requirements that make the game itself have to be different thus it requires the crossplay till more people adopt the new generation consoles. my point though is that the microsoft store on pc and the steam pc client are also considered crossplay, and if I have the microsoft store version on my pc AND the steam version I will be crossplay to other steam players when I play on the microsoft store. you just answered the big question i had and that answer confirmed that it was not behavior that made the NEW generation of consoles crossplay but the companies that made them.

You're missing the point. On every other game cross-generational play works without cross play. Meaning that PS4 and PS5 or Xbox One and Xbox series X players can play together without activating cross play. This is not a requirement of the platform companies but just something Bvhr decided to do for this game. I'm not sure if it's intentional or yet another problem with the next generation consoles, it is unusual though. on Fortnite for example, I can play with PS4 and PS5 players exclusively via cross-generation play. I don't have to activate crossplay. I believe this is what people are referring to.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1781482#Comment_1781482

microsoft is the one that made it a new platform, they made the requirments for the games different thus there is a different client. hell the microsoft store on pc is a different platform than the Steam version is! it's not behavior that did this but microsoft as they are the ones that made the os differently and require different things. I don't know about the ps5 because i haven't heard from them and you said it directly you have to update from one xbox version to the new one, so why are you blaming behavior when they worked with what they had?

There's some confusion here. At least on PlayStation, dbd is the only game that requires you to have cross play turned on in order to access cross-generational play. I think this is what the person was referring to. it's a different console on the same platform, so for the purposes of cross play some people think it shouldn't be required to access cross-generational play.

I personally loved the 4th anniversary event. Finding the crown on all the original characters was really fun, and I was able to farm literally hundreds of double bp gateaux. The loading screen with quotes was also really interesting/pretty/funny. I do hope they bring back the winter themed lobby, though. That was probably the best lobby they ever made.

Yeah I agree, the crowns were fun. are the fourth anniversary crowns actually exclusive to the fourth anniversary event? I read that they're bringing crowns for the newer characters released afterwards but how are people going to earn them? That's the other thing they need to create more clarity on, are these event items going to be exclusive. It seems the devs want to have it both ways, create so-called exclusive items to drive traffic, interest, attention, and engagement to the game during the special events but then leave the doors wide open for these items to return in another form. Part of the appeal of special limited events is obtaining items that are exclusive to that event and can't otherwise be obtained elsewhere.

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

There not doing a Christmas event cause there putting in there time to make the other events coming more fun and better than the Halloween event they heard your feedback and there fixing it

Which I call nonsense on! They should have already finalized the details for this event, there's no way that the feedback from just two weeks ago has impacted this Christmas event. They probably had nothing planned again. I don't understand why they don't bring back the lanterns from a few years ago for the Chinese New Year event. I love that event, it was a lot of fun and collecting the lanterns was cool. On the other hand, I look forward to a much better anniversary and Halloween event in 2021. I hope we're blown away by amazing content.

  • That's good, it would be nice to get an official comment on the forums.

I've already talked to Mandy about it. so now all we can do is wait :)

Yeah because of the licensing issues with his DLC, he will launch with the Chapter update next month. However all of the other DLCs work on PS5, but currently only accessible on the purchasing account and not other accounts on the same console. Even when you activate as the primary. Afaik, it is an issue exclusive to DBD. And glad to hear, but how or where did you talk?

  • Silence from devs is also another case of poor communication and management. The only way to get even a tepid reply is by building a massive thread. I can't access paid content.

  • This feedback is just about achieving one goal: making things even easier for The Killer. The endgame collapse is already basically a killer mechanism that more often than not heavily favors the killer. Not to mention all of the free information they get such as seeing the aura of both gates in perpetuity. This unnecessarily complicates a very basic goal when the collapse was introduced, that goal is simply to prevent survivors from holding the game hostage. Every few weeks someone has a bright idea about how to evolve the collapse into something it was never intended to be. It's not a killer tool.

  • You must not have your screen properly set. I forget exactly where but there is a setting to expand the letterbox so it reaches the actual edge of your display. I bet you have your set to the middle so that's why it appears bigger. I can't verify that right now but that has to be the issue.

  • @PettyBetty said:

@Nicholas hey, I’m having the same exact issue with my PS5 upgrade. I only have some of the DLC and missing about 3 survivors although I should have all. We need a fix!

It's been way too long without any official acknowledgment afaik. I don't blame the community managers, but the pipeline for public acknowledgment of an issue needs to be accelerated. They should be leading from the front not from behind, and I feel like there's too much of a gap from when an issue is identified to when they announce that they are aware of it and working on it.

  • Sorry to hear but I'm hopeful for you. Wishing you the best and look forward to your return.

Only it DOES make sense. They don't concern themselves with hardware advantages if you have cross play turned ON. If you have it OFF, you are against people using the same hardware (unless you're on PC, which can't be helped). So it makes total sense.

Personally, I think you just want to crap on people using worse hardware than you. Do I have a real basis for this? Nope. Is it malicious? Yep. It's using the same mindset you are against BHVR, though, so what's good for the goose...

Actually you're not totally equal because PS4 Pro and Xbox One X exist, they perform much more reliably than their original counterparts. Then there's also controller versus mouse and keyboard, the latter being arguably stronger especially for some killers. PC is still much better than PS5, so PC players will always have a significant advantage. With PS5, the advantage is less but it still exists. People will disagree, but there are people that would prefer staying within their console family and input method in this case being controller versus controller. I'm not really interested in debating why you think I made this topic because it's immaterial to the discussion. Maybe the devs will provide some insight on the next q&a stream.

  • @StibbityStabbity said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1761262#Comment_1761262

As far as I can tell, you can't play against PC on Xbox unless you have crossplay on. Microsoft Store on PC and Steam can, but not Xbox and PC.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1761264#Comment_1761264

So, instead of it being about keeping equal-level hardware against each other if they have crossplay turned off (which makes sense and has a base logic to it), you think it's about trying to force a mechanic (which is rather malicious and feels like a punishment that they don't force on other people). Okay. You do you.

Actually the only reason they allow a opt-out, is because Sony mandates it. Sony was the final platform hold out of cross play. Epic, Steam, Microsoft, Nintendo and Google were all in agreement for crossplay. Sony dragged its feet and only because of consumer pressure, finally capitulated and allowed cross play and cross progression with some restrictions. The hardware argument doesn't make sense, in light of the reasons I outlined in my previous response. And yes I do think they are motivated to encourage cross-play options. It benefits them greatly in many ways. It also provides some benefit to players. You should educate yourself, look up white papers on cross play and why there is a big shift in that direction.

And not to mention the fact that the developers of this game have publicly stated that they're not seeing any performance or skill concerns regarding PC versus console in both roles.

  • @StibbityStabbity said:

I think the answer has been stated here, and has also been ignored and/or misrepresented:

If you are playing on PS5 against someone playing on PS4, you have a hardware advantage. BHVR did not allow cross-gen play without cross-platform enabled because of that hardware advantage. If you don't like this answer, sorry. It's simply the most likely scenario.

This answer is speculative, and would require a developer to answer in order to be certain, but it is the most likely scenario.

That's someone opinion, but not a fact. Imo if they were so concerned about a hardware advantage, then they would have never allowed cross play with console and PC. Afaik dbd is the only game that makes crossplay a prerequisite for access to cross-generation play. Of course we don't know the real reason, hence the topic was created. My personal opinion is that they are very eager to encourage cross play and this is just one mechanism to fulfill that goal.

  • can we get some official information about this? Are you looking into it? What's going on? I cannot access all of my paid DLC on PS5. This is a big problem. The characters I play are all paid characters, so I'm missing out on my killers and survivors. I'll just repeat that, I cannot access my paid content on PS5. Huge problem needs a resolution ASAP.

    @Peanits @not_Queen thanks

  • Yeah it's terrible, I really hope they fix it. It's way too small.

  • Unfortunately you need to enable cross play. For whatever reason they've decided to make cross play mandatory to be eligible for cross-generational play.

I didn’t know that PS3, PS4, and PS5 had an incrementation version for trophies. That would be a great idea if the devs or Sony can’t/won’t allow the auto-pop upon login.

What about trophies like the Adepts, From the void she kills, Evil Incarnate, Where did they go, and other trophies that require you to do something in a single game? I’d rather keep those than the grindy ones. The grindy ones will take some time but aren’t that bad. Those other ones are so luck reliant that they can easily be a nightmare.

I think it's up to the developers to decide. That's a good point. Imo all of the trophies should auto pop that you've already earned on the PS4 version. That seems like the best solution, what exactly is accomplished by requiring everyone to earn the same trophies again? Especially as you point out some of the more difficult or tedious ones. I'm sure if they wanted to, they can update the game to honor PS4 progress in the PS5 version of the game. Hopefully they do something because unlocking all of these trophies again is a super chore.

Huh, well the more you know. I've had a few PS3 games that I've re-bought on PS4 and they all had separate trophies and I needed to play through them again to get so I had assumed all the games were like that. I had no idea there were so many variations on them.

yeah, in fact I never realized it until I saw this thread and thought about all the different variations and situations regarding the trophy generation transition. I actually almost didn't post because I knew it would be so difficult to explain lol a good tip is if the game has a way to export the save to the next generation version, I create multiple saves at different checkpoints such as right before a boss kill so that I can transfer the save to the next gen version and kill the boss and pop the trophy. That way it's much easier to get the platinum a second time if that's something you're interested in.

  • Off on PS4 but forced to have it on for PS5 due to small PS5 population atm.

The only time I used it, besides doing adept Jake, was for the few days after Doc got his rework and 80% of my games were against Doc. Calm Spirit was very useful in those games.

Same, it was very helpful. I'll return to CS as soon as The Clown gets his rework. Not screaming against him also helps.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

I'm not exactly sure but that's always the case with next gen consoles (at least with sony) unfortunately

    @ohheyitsbobcat said:

I'd find it stranger if they did transfer. PS3 to PS4 didn't and you could even have multiple of the same game as trophy sets if you got different versions.

You both couldn't be more wrong. The transition from PS3 to PS4 and now from PS4 to PS5 was similar but dependent on the game. Your trophies don't "transfer," they are tied to your PSN account. They come along with you but will remain as PS3 or PS4 trophies. The confusion comes when the game introduces a secondary trophy list exclusive to that console. PS3 to PS4 saw various approaches, some games simply updated the existing trophy set to reflect both PS3 and PS4. Other games introduced a entirely new (and identical) trophy set on PS4, separately from its PS3 counterpart. Some games that introduced a new PS4 trophy set auto-popped every trophy you earned on the PS3 version as soon as you loaded up the PS4 version. Others required you to completely start over, however some titles in this category allowed you to import your save file from the PS3 version and thus make re-earning the trophies on PS4 much easier. The final approach involved recognizing your PS3 progress but requiring you to earn an additional incementation to trigger the new PS4 trophy. Basically if a game required you to defeat 1000 enemies, all you would need to do is kill 1 enemy on your PS4 game to trigger the trophy that required 1000 kills. This is because the game honored your progress.

Everything above is the same for PS5 except Sony has decided to introduce a new trophy set for the PS5 version of every game to date. However the way trophy progress is handled varies yet again. Destiny 2, No Man's Sky and Fortnite will auto-pop every trophy you have earned on the PS4 set by just logging in. Other games like Cold War require one incrementation or action to trigger the new trophy. And games like Sackboy and Miles Morales require a fresh play, unless you import your save from the PS4 version to make unlocking the same trophies much easier.

So DBD, imo should do the auto-pop or incrementation version of honoring our PS4 progress. Instead it is a complete reset (except for the prestige trophies which auto-pop), so if you were at 999/1000 Hatchets on PS4, you will need just one on PS4 to get that trophy but still need 1000 for the new PS5 trophy.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1754495#Comment_1754495

The reason does matter because it's one that goes into the decision for how they code the two into the game. They consider PS4 and PS5 different platforms in their coding and crossplay currently is all or nothing, not pick/choose what platforms to play with. What Sony considers crossplay and what a game developer considers crossplay in their coding are two different things.

When the switch from PS3 to PS4 happened many games didn't have trophies carry over, instead you had PS3 set and PS4 set - Diablo 3 is one I can think of off the top of my head. It's the same thing for PS4 to PS5. Maneater, Borderlands 3, and Assassin Creed Valhalla are 3 examples I can think of that don't have their trophies carry over - you'll have a PS4 set and a PS5 set.

I'm talking about the reason from the gamer's perspective. Yes they have their own reasons but the point I'm making is that there is no need to distinguish between PS4 and PS5 or Xbox One and Xbox Series X for the purposes of cross-generational play. This is a decision they made to accomplish or achieve their own objective which in this case is very likely to encourage more options for cross play. They can allow cross-generational play without binding it to cross play itself.

Edit: moved my trophy related comments to another threat about it.

  • It would be too easy, especially in the beginning for people to target the perks they want. I think that's probably why they won't do it. However I like the idea of having more perks per blood web because that is a pain point in the game. Especially when you prestige a character. Hopefully the forthcoming prestige rewards are worth it.

  • @bm33 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1754397#Comment_1754397

Yes, there are multiple reasons players have turned off crossplay, but console having a performance disadvantage to pc is one of them and was a big enough reason to be a specific question on recent crossplay survey. While it may not be your reason to turn off crossplay it is the reason for others and a reason to not consider PS4 and PS5 the same when crossplay is off.

The Sony Q&A said that it's possible for play between PS4/PS5 and is up to the game devs to support play between PS4/PS5, does not say how the devs can/can't do it. DBD is allowing play between PS4 and PS5, it's just not in the way you want it.

    https://blog.playstation.com/2020/11/09/ps5-the-ultimate-faq/

If I’m playing a PS4 game, can I play with my friend who is playing the PS5 version of that game, or vice-versa?

It is possible to play together depending on the game, though support must be provided by the game’s developer.

The reason is immaterial to the discussion. This isn't about the merits on why people do or don't allow cross play or want it. I asked a very clear and concise question. The support section has a more ambiguous answer, hence why I came here to ascertain more details. I never said it was disallowed. However as I stated, cross-generation play is separate from cross play. Dead is the only game that is linking cross-generation play to cross play, and it is obvious why. They are very eager to get everyone on board with cross play and this is just another mechanism to achieve that goal. It's unnecessary, per Sony and that was the point of this topic. I didn't want this topic to become yet another about the merits of cross play. And then the icing on the cake, your trophy progress doesn't carry over. So if you were at 999 hatchet throws on PS4, you're back to zero on PS5. You would have to go back to PS4 to throw one more to get the trophy but you would still be at zero on PS5. So many bad decisions with this cross-generation process.

  • @bm33 said:

I thought it was dumb at first too BUT someone pointed out that it's a good thing when PS5 performance is now like PC - no fps drops from specific triggers, overall runs smoother than current gens. PS4 players that turned off crossplay due to performance advantages PC players had would just have same issues against PS5 players if crossplay off included them.

Yes I understand that, but not everyone disable cross-play for that reason. I'm not going to get into why people do it, bc that will have the topic hijacked. As far as I know PlayStation doesn't allow cross-play to be mandatory for access to cross-generational play. At least according to the wording of the official statement about the feature.

  • @Mooks said:

How does Sony make official statements regarding a game they dont even work on themselves?

i didn’t see any official statements by BHVR but I would just assume since PS5 is a next gen console it is considered another platform than PS4. I don’t think any other independent game without crossplay has crossplay between PS5 and PS4 naturally?

PlayStation is a closed ecosystem, so they make statements and comments and enforce policies all the time regarding games they don't make but are licensed for their systems. With that said, every single game I've played works on cross generation without cross play. Destiny, Overwatch, Fortnite, Paladins, Smite, Call of Duty, and No Man's Sky just to name a few.

I’m on series x. I just checked and for me I had to find + redownload the DLCs in order for them to show up on all my accounts.

AfaikPS5 doesn't have a way to individually download DLCs or even initiate a sync of them. I wonder if I should just delete and redownload the entire game.

  • Yes it happens, basically your wig gets sacrificed to The Entity lol

  • It's the same on PS5, I definitely think it's way too small that it looks weird. Don't get me wrong, I don't like menus or HUD that are huge but this one is too small for me. Does XSX have the same issue where purchased DLC doesn't work on other accounts other than the account that made the purchase?

  • I figured out what's going on with some testing. I have verified this with two other friends. All of the DLC* you have purchased on a specific account, will have access to that content. However if you play on another account, even if the purchasing account is marked as the primary console, it doesn't recognize the DLC and thus you won't have access to that content. This is only a problem with this game, because we got other games that properly shares the DLC on all accounts on that console.

No perk is always effective it the intended situation, unless it has a small effect. Unbreakable doesn't always help with Slugging. Adrenaline doesn't always guarantee a heal in certain situations if the Killer knows what they're doing, and it doesn't always even activate. Save the Best for Last doesn't always help you get the second hit. Pop Goes the Weasel doesn't always help keep gens up. Same with Ruin. Why should DS be any different? The effect when it works is strong, it shouldn't always work. That's how it is with every single other strong effect perk. The old DS didn't have this problem, which is why it was changed. If you weren't right beside a hook, you could not avoid being stunned. Making it 100% effective would bring back that old issue, where if you have to go after the person with DS active, you can not pick them up. You'd have to make a survivor completely invincible to stop Killers from tunneling them, people will always Tunnel. The best outcome is you waste a ######### ton of their time for doing so, which is what DS does right now, and does so very effectively.

You're comparing apples to oranges. All of those perks produce the intended result. Whether that's being able to pick yourself up, rapidly regressing one generator, getting a health state and speed boost or reducing the CD of hits. When you meet the conditions, these perks work. Whether you have success is another story as these perks don't guarantee any outcome. Likewise with DS, it currently works exactly as intended. You stun The Killer if you're grabbed within 60s of being rescued and succeed a difficult Skill Check. It makes no mention of being successful at escaping after the stun or that you will necessarily get to even decisively strike The Killer. However it produces the intended result.

My issue is that people want to label DS as a remedial perk for tunneling but make no meaningful changes so that it is actually an anti-tunnel perk. The cornerstone of these suggestions exclusively benefit The Killer. And imo the existing version isn't a "very effective anti-tunneling" perk. Maybe the one-time use DS with myriad deactivation conditions and a reduced timer can make tunneling harder or less appealing via a variety of changes. It doesn't have to be as powerful, dramatic and oppressive as you suggest. Killers already easily circumvent DS, tunneling is effective and already easy so I'm against changes that make it even easier and faster. Balance the perk for both roles and make it truly anti-tunnel.

  • Three seconds is what makes it extremely niche atm. As @Squirrel_Thicc points out, it's largely dependent on the state of the chase and your location vs The Killer. It could be fun too on certain walls and loops but likely The Killer will quickly locate your scratch marks as of the four second mark.

I main Killer, and unless I'm playing really bad, I can down an injured survivor within 60 seconds of finding them, usually much less. If you're really worried about the timer running out, you can just let them down you before it does so they get stunned, or jump into a locker. That's not really an issue. If you're able to loop the Killer for 60 seconds while injured, while out of position, you don't need DS.

DS only works once per trial, but you only ever need it at most twice. A perk that gives you a powerful tool when being tunneled one of two times you need it is very good. Just the existence of the perk discourages tunneling. I know that if there's an obsession in the game, I'll never go after the unhooked survivor unless there's literally no other option. And I think you're underestimating what Survivors can do with a 5 second stun. This guarantees that they make it to a very good loop, where they can loop the Killer for a long time. It's not perfect at getting the Killer to not tunnel you, but it punishes them harshly for doing so, leading to your team gaining a massive advantage.

The only weaknesses of the perk is that you can only use it once and the fact that it's on a timer, but every perk needs counterplay. And every single perk in the game has counterplay. Right now, the only counterplay to DS is waiting for the timer to run out, and eating the DS so that they can't use it again. Both of which you're complaining about, and are implying you want changed. You can't just remove all current counterplay, especially since you're saying that you want this done before improving it on the Killer side. This would create a period of time where the perk would have 0 counterplay, and the Killer playerbase would sink by a lot. It would create a meta where the unhooker hides, and the unhooked forces the Killer to go after them and eat the stun multiple times per match, or give up their pressure entirely. You can't balance for one side while completely ignoring the other, you have to consider both sides with every change. Removing the counterplay WOULD make it better for Survivors. But in doing so, you're ######### over the Killers. The perk is already strong and widely hated, people would quit the game over this.

Imagine if they buffed old Ruin so that it's harder to get rid of, or so that Great Skill checks regressed Generators the same way Good Skill Checks did. Survivors would be quitting left and right, and rightfully so, as it would not be fair to them. Buffing an already strong and widely used perk to remove counterplay would cause mass groups of people to leave. If you want to buff DS, you have to nerf it at the same time. If you want to remove the current counterplay, you have to add some somewhere else. You can't just buff one of the best perks in the game because Killers are able to get around it sometimes.

DS already does it's job by harshly punishing Killers for tunneling (as well as naturally deter them from trying to tunnel), and doesn't need the only counterplay removed.

Sure there are killers deterred by DS but there are some who aren't, etc. DS isn't the very effective anti-tunnel tool you initially declared it to be, my sole point was to address that. I think DS needs some fine tuning but absolutely the changes need to weigh the Survivor's experience. The existing iteration of DS, can help with tunneling but it isn't anti-tunnel. That's an important distinction. The suggestions are always about improving the experience of The Killer and watering it down so it's less useful outside of tunneling (I agree) without also addressing how it isn't always useful when you are in fact being tunneled. If you allow yourself to go down or jump into a locker within the allocated time doesn't guarantee you will get to use it bc The Killer will often altogether bypass DS. So yes, some Survivors go out of their way to use DS with bold plays bc Killers go out of their way to circumvent it. This is why it is hated (for those that don't tunnel but get hit) and for the segment of players that love to tunnel freely. And on second rescue, you're a prime target for an insta-tunnel and rehook. So that's also a problem.

DS can help with tunneling but doesn't always. I agree, narrow the scope and reach of DS so people can't use it beyond getting tunneled but it must be effective at achieving the stated goal.

Exactly, that would be cool btw, getting a charm for going for noed, some kind of bone smasher charm or something like that would be cool.

I don't see why people would dodge lol but that is just based on my experience.

Not one-time, but would be a cool effort if you had to perform these tasks repeatedly and successfully to earn any Charms. I meant as far as charms related to performing certain actions like successfully 360 dodging a fatal hit 100x. In other games with items that signify skill or effort, some opponents won't go against you.

Wish I could get mr puddles again, I have it on ps4 but not on pc.

I don't really know how this works with this game but remember how the bbq cosmetics were just for the ones that played during the event? Yep now all you have to do is buy the game and you get it.

He's coming out in January, so you will be able to get him. Yeah it's not really clear and upfront about what will and won't return. I wish they outlined it during the existing Rift so we as players can decide whether or not to wait or grind.

  • @OldHunterLight said:

I agree, I don't use charms and they serve no purpose to me or many like me, they need to be changed in order to have some value "oh you finished the rift? Neat me too!!!" That is not what I wanted charms to be, I wanted charms to be "oh you 360 rev into a survivor here is a nice charm" some challenge, the fact that we are basically paying for the rift just to get 4 cosmetics and 20 charms is funny.

And most will be widely available in as little as six months anyway. I agree, Charms could be really cool if tied to actions. I'm that Survivor that will look for NOED and try to rescue, so a Charm related to being a savior would be cool. Just be careful bc Charms like that can get you tunneled, camped and/or lobby dodged lol

  • Going to PS5 soon and I don't want to mash my new DualSense controller.

It's anti-tunnel because it punishes the Killer for tunneling. If they want to tunnel someone with DS, they need to catch and down them, eat the 5 second stun, and then go and hunt them down again. Depending on how good the person using DS is, they could run the killer for half a minute before needing to use DS, which is almost half a gen with a single person working on it. Then another 5 seconds with the stun, and then another chase that could last even longer due to the stun letting them go anywhere they want, and the Killer could lose several Gens because they tunneled someone running the perk. How is that not an anti-tunnel perk?

And people complain about how the perk effects Killers because it punishes them for doing absolutely nothing wrong. Having someone be unhooked, downing someone else and hooking them, then getting DS'd after finding the person again is not that uncommon.

That's your opinion but keep in mind you said "a very effective anti-tunneling tool." I disagree with that statement and outlined why. You haven't introduced anything compelling enough to change my mind. DS can provide some relief once per trial assuming you hit the Skill Check, which people can miss and do so within 60s. Yet you can be tunneled twice per trial and tunneling can exceed 60s. This singular opportunity of potential relief, largely dependent on the skill of both players, isn't the anti-tunnel tool you claim it to be That was my point. I agree that it needs some tuning but the first order of business should be the experience and perspective of the impacted party: the Survivor. People want to suggest a laundry list of deactivation conditions and requirements which benefit The Killer but provide no real support to the Survivor that has to endure being tunneled twice most games. I'm all for balance and fairness, but tunneling is a Survivor sided problem first and foremost.

  • The game needs accessibility options. I have a friend who has arthritis and her hands tighten up, it's really difficult for her to struggle. Most of the time struggle means she's dead.

  • @TheMythicalCat said:

DS just needs to have a deactivation method. Either another survivor gets hooked, you get fully healed, or you start working on a gen. With that, it will still be a very effective anti-tunneling tool, but wont punish Killers for leaving the person alone and finding them again before the timer runs out. While another anti-tunneling perk wouldn't be the worst thing, we already have two, one of which is just a better version of this one, and the other being one of the strongest perks in the game.

Lol a very effective anti-tunneling tool? Which perk is that? Because it certainly isn't Decisive Strike. A lot of the suggestions about the perk have to deal with The Killer's perspective and The Killer's experience, yet being tunneled is a Survivor sided issue. It's something the Survivor has to deal with. I'm all for narrowing the scope of the perk provided that it is in fact effective at dealing with tunneling. The existing iteration of the perk does little to help with being tunneled. DS it's more of a Chase extender and more likely to be a delay of the tunnel but ultimately you will still get tunneled. It's still extremely easy to circumvent the perk in its entirety.

  • That new red shirt they plan to take away? If so, yes that is a really cool shirt.

Just mend over and over and healing doesn't matter cause they'll just injure you again super easily

If I see it's a legion I just throw myself at them, I don't wanna be bored the whole ass game i'm sorry but I can't do it anymore with them please fix them thanks

It does feel like a super chore having to mend and I really dislike the screen darkening so much to the point where you can't see anything. Killer Instinct also makes tunneling even easier. I am starting to see DCs and more so suicides when people realize it is The Legion.

  • A week away from next-gen and still nothing official. Every current gen game getting an upgrade has outlined the details, date and most have next-gen trailers showcasing the upgrades but not DBD. @Peanits @not_Queen anything yet?
