So, I notice that Killers seem very Add-On dependent for powers. Though I want to main Killer, it seems to me from the little I have experimented, that it might be better for me to focus on a Survivor, first. Get them to Level 15 for the four perk slots, then use my Bloodpoints to get my Killers leveled up. Once I get the Killers that I want to a decent level and have the Perk slots and some add-ons available, then focus on what I want to do with playing them.

Does this sound decent, or am I doing something wrong going that route?

It's a good idea, but I would also recommend playing the killers without add-ons and perks in the low ranks so you get the feels on how to predict and mind game survivors. So they make mistakes at certain windows or pallets. So play both sides to figure that out and save BP for killers.

I feel like the devs should leave the perk as it is. Let me explain all the reasons.

First you have to be the obsession to use the perk properly.

Second the skill check is difficult to hit if it comes early or if you’re facing the Dr. or unnerving presence.

Third reason you only able to use it once plus the killer can still dribble you to the hook!

Every update they make it harder to be a survivor. Remember you need more survivors in this game than killers to keep this game alive.

They are allowed to make playing harder for survivors since it's still very easy to.

That's what they did to killers, just opposite of that. They made killers weak to overcome a lack of experience of survivors. Literally how it went. Look at Freddy and almost all killer perks.

Please tell me you don't really believe that.

So you are ignorant? I see. That's quite typical so I won't judge you.

Apparently you do like to judge maybe spend less time judging more time playing and you can Git Gud!

I am good enough tho. I have been rank 1 since I started playing this game. I took multiple breaks from it yet always instantly got to rank 1 surv and killer without breaking a sweat. I know rank doesn't mean ######### tho and can say that I have over 1k hrs on the game. As I said, I took multiple breaks.

Usually I hook a guy, go to a gen I know is being work on, kick it and go back to the hook to see if someone showed up... And that was the case several time.

I wonder If I played properly or if it was legit "camping" ?

    Thoughts?

That's not camping. That's simply checking if someone showed up, patrolling. You were even nice to do it like that considering how survivors always behave.

So this is the version 1.0.2.:

Unlocks the ability to heal yourself without a Med-Kit at 30/40/50 % the normal healing speed. Skill Checks triggered in this situation have success zones reduced by 20/10/0 %. Increases the efficiency of Med-Kit self-heal by 50/75/100 %.

what if we used this again with tweeks?

Unlocks the ability to heal yourself without a Med-Kit at 30% the normal healing speed. Increases the efficiency of Med-Kit self-heal by 25/50/75%.

    OR

You can use your medkits efficiently. Med-kit self heal charge consumption is decreased by 50/75/100%. Also you heal yourself faster by 10/15/20% (10/20/30)

Then buff botany knowledge and we good. I need to know what do you think
(also this post was posted once but the it has to get approved or something so posting again)

I wouldn't mind these changes or the changes of only one heal per game. That would certainly make the match scarier and more serious for survivors

U already get punished by getting that hit.

Oh no and then you still get rewarded with a small sprint burst or dash so you can get to other pallets... The punishment is way too much in my opinion. My case is that survivors are allowed to make many mistakes while killers are not since time is essential for killers and killers don't have a lot of it

You don't get the sprint boost when vaulting...

Most of the time one gets hit slightly after exiting the vaulting animation. Those people do get it as a matter of fact.

They haven't only buffed killers for months. They have been reworking the weak ones and even gave survivors a lot of buffs. They are finally making the killers the power role like they should have been from the start. They took a step back with this patch a bit looking at the pretty normal survivor buffs and the ######### new killer, who is only strong cause it's her 2nd/3rd week.

Since none of you understand what I mean, I’m putting it in here that this is a reference to the escape phase. The solution to campers while OBJ is active is to just go nuts with gens. I’m sorry that I wasn’t clear on that.

Camping is very easy to counter. You deal with it the exact same way as a hatch standoff.

Everyone just swarms the hook, and cancel unhook attempts until the killer strikes someone, that guy bolts and while the killer is on cooldown someone else unhooks and absolutely everyone gets away.

Ive had the game just shy of a month and I already figured this out people. Stop crying and use your brain. Killers don’t need another nerf of any kind whatsoever.

In the end, the only people who are able to coordinate it like that are SWF lobbies and nobody likes those, because they can't behave themselves most of the time and tbag when they think they accomplished something

  • Too be honest everyone is just saying mind gaming as well. You just have to get good at those, but I do agree with the thread maker a bit since there's a lot of pallet loops that don't require any skill/mind games and can't be broken until you break the pallet. There's some maps that are basically unplayable, if I can't get 3+k then I won't bother with it. Haddonfield is way to hard for killers for example with multiple levels to hide from.

This is the problem right here “if I can’t get a 3+k then I won’t bother with it” , so you don’t want a challenge is basically what you’re saying? You immediately quit when any sign of failure might happen, this is why we need survivor bots and participation trophies for these people, this is proof you want to win everytime and have no opposition, killers can’t stand that there is a way to counter everything on both sides and the only ones having this problem are ones who never change their perk load outs and think they can do whatever and still win

The problem is gamers these days who have 0 sense of entitlement. "oh yes it's bad but I'm just still gonna put up with it". Let's just ignore that we paid for a faulty product.

the product isnt faulty, youre just bad.

Rank1 as freddy/spirit, the hardest to play killers in the game and I very rarely even depip, can't even remember the last time I got 0 kills, next.

To be honest. Freddy isn't hard. He is just weak. Spirit is a bit hard because everything is so weak and bugged around her but that's it. The product isn't faulty indeed. Sure killers have bad maps but also better ones. Like Macmillan maps or even the Asylum maps imo. I always do well on those. Sure survivors have a few more good maps but they are changing those right now. Haven't you noticed the new debris standing in front of certain doors sometimes or closed windows so there are fewer infinites?! I play both sides but a bit more killer and do think that survivors have the advantage right now in this game state, but the map designs are being fixed slowly but surely (because they want to get rid of Bloodlust)

To be quite honest. A 2 kills match is alright. It doesn't guarantee a pip sometimes but it's alright on rank 1 since you can't gain more pips anyway. Thinking you always deserve a 3 or 4 man is bs. I think a killer deserves a 4 man when only 3 gens are done but the last survivor finds the hatch. It rewards bad teams with another easy way out.

Yes, I bet this hotfix will be example for the huge killer buffs several times in the following weeks

They've pretty much done nothing but buff killers for months.

I've been creeping on these forums for a while and you're one of the few survivor mains I've learned to ignore love. I'm sure a lot of people have. Have fun in your matches~

    That’s ok.
Im absolutely not a killer main, but I’ve come to realise half the problems that people face on this forum are simply them lacking the skill to compete. I’ve had absolute trains ran on me by rank one Freddies & Trappers. But nope, instead of people practising with them they’d rather wait and wait until they buffed into oblivion.

Heres my issue. Killers complain rank one is hard, they also complain that every survivor is in rank one because it’s so easy to get there.

Which is it, every pleb survivor is rank one, or rank one is hard?

Im currently rank 5 killer and rank 6 survivor. I used to get to rank one every season but have since started playing other games as DBD isn’t doing for me as much after 2300 hours.

But yes - just a survivor main with a different opinion.

Tbh getting to rank 1 as a survivor is the easiest task in the world. Getting to rank 1 as a killer isn't that hard but it's harder. So yes, most people in rank 1 suck. You can see that by the way, they play once they run out of pallets. They have no idea what to do...

Some of you are so salty. it's just insane.

The Huntress is back to where she needed to be. 15 seconds from 20 seconds is a strong buff.

The spirit is now high mid tier. Well done devs.

How dare you even say that she's high mid-tier. She's same as Freddy or maybe a bit better. She is add-on and perk dependant, which is needless to say, shouldn't be a thing for a power role in the game.

  • @Gorvak said:
Something like "If a killer stays within x meters of the hooked survivor for x amount of time, other survivors gains x% in their repair, heal, sabotage actions, reseting the time to trigger this after x sec" or "if a killer stays for x time within x range of the survivor, the sacrifice will be worth half points, reseting the time to trigger this after x sec (then the bloodpoints of hooking, summoning and sacrificing will be only added after the sacrifice happens or the survivor is unhooked (by itself or others) and add a buff for survivors sacrificed outside of the x range, making the buffed risky sacrifice awarding more points than now and the safe sacrifice awarding less)."

The point of this is because the ridiculous killer who does it, specially in the first hooking, destroys the game for everyone. The ones that are safe doing gens, dont get so many points, the survivor hooked, gets basically nothing and even the ######### killer gets almost nothing, but he still manages to recover, depending on the speed of other survivors.

The killer who does it, mostly in the beginning, spoils the game. Makes it a true loss for everyone, not because the survivor will die, but because no one will get enough points, so a solution should be devised to avoid this behaviour the most and those are my ideas.

P.S: The killer losing time meanwhile the other survivors fix the gens is not punishment enough for this ######### behaviour.

Then there should be something against gen tapping. Not saying I care about either but if one side would get a punishment for one ######### playstyle then the other should get one as well. Or pallet looping. ######### like that so you can go on about all of that stuff, the devs never do anything about them.

  • Guys. Holy #########! Calm down, everyone. He is mostly right about the stuff he said to be honest. All the survivors are crying about Aura perks and ######### like that but don't want to even the odds with killers. Killers play in a 1 v4 ratio so they should be equal to 4 survivors. They aren't, except if the survivors are bad and only make mistakes, even when making mistakes, survivors often still survive and even when they die they get a pip.

  • If I were to DC from a map due to pallets then I'd have to DC every time. I never DC tho since that would mean losing 3 pips and getting no blood points. I'd rather lose one pip and get Bloodpoints

  • @CrimsonPuppeteer said:
First of all, I didn't read all the comments, just wanted to give my opinion.

If you want every killer to be on the same leveo with each other, let's just give them all exactly same abilities. Its a fact with all games with playable characters with different skills that some of them just have to be worse than others.

I've seen many spirit players myself. Haven't played her much but against her quite a lot recently (rank 5 survivor, killer main) and I'd say that there's nothing wrong with her. Yes, she's not as good as some other killers but she's not unpalyable either. And most importantly, she's fun to play.

If game makers start to buff characters because some others are better, it just ends in an endless loop of buffing as there's no way that a bunch of characters with completely different abilities and play styles can all be on the same line.
And if course, as it had only been so little time since her release, you'll have to also understand the fact that ppl are still learning the best ways to use her and searching for the best combination of perks and add ons to mold her just like they like her

More like survivors are getting used to her and she's gonna be even more unplayable in a month. Mark my words xD. She is not strong. She is only decent when using add-ons and perks. A killer shouldn't be add-on or perk dependant to get at least 2 kills. And getting insta saves and then being blamed for ''camping'' is not fun. She is only fun to play when the tracks are on point and she gets stronger due to buffs, which I hope they will add.

  • @F5arTheB5ard said:
I've been rank 1 since she came out and grinded her to p3. She is add on dependent but I very rarely get less than 2 kills. Everyone on here that says she sucks just isnt using her correctly or their just not good at making reads. And if you just chase someone in PW most the time they will get away, you need to make reads and cut off angles to get hits in.

I think shes high mid tier but in the right hands can perform very well. I've also messaged and had conversations with survivors I've faced and everyone of them thinks shes OP. Maybe it's because she is so new, but I do believe she needs a couple small changes. If the changes are to drastic she could easily be BROKEN.
Being able to use PW at any point you have meter would be great. You would still need to manage your power correctly to get any real use out of it.
Blood being visible without the most expensive add on should be her base kit. It's already hard enough to land the first hit, especially if you used your power to get the 1sr hit. At least reward us with better tracking.
PW speed, PW activation time, PW reappearance time all need to be slightly faster nothing crazy. And PW reappearance time should be shorter as well

Basically all the buffs I mentioned as well.

Solid midtier, at least. Better than Freddy, Wraith, Leatherface and Pig.

She can potentially be pretty high, like between Doctor and Huntress, but overall I would never rate her above Pig.

Are you implying that the Pig is strong?

She can be, but she is at the mercy of RNG for traps and Ruin. With a standardization of those, she's a very lethal 4K killer because traps make her a very capable killer for playing round robin with hooks and downs. You have to be mindful of where survivors are while they're trapped, the boxes that they're likely to go to, and where generators are. With full map awareness, she's a very strong killer.

The Spirit's power kinda sucks in general at consistently dropping in on people, though whether this is a problem with the power or other mechanics not interacting with it properly is hard to tell. I've had games where positional accuracy and scratch marks during Phase Walk just don't exist, so you can hear survivors under you that are 5-8 meters ahead, or scratch marks that don't appear until you exit the Phase Walk, leaving you stuck far behind.

That's not to say she doesn't have the potential to be strong, but she might be buggy. I can't tell, even with games of 4K where it's accurate, and then the next game where it isn't at all, and I'm stuck guessing the entire match. It doesn't make a lot of sense that she is a slower killer in general given the long baseline cooldown of her power.

Comparatively, Pig can stealth and de-stealth for hits a lot more effectively, so the Spirit manages to fail at any real element of surprise. A less stealthy Wraith with slower movement speed and a brutal power cooldown. She's fun to play against, but... easy.

You nailed it. Her power just doesn't come at odds with other powers and depends on add-ons and perks. A killer shouldn't DEPEND on either and be pretty good without. She can't be without them

Kind of. He just wants it to be focused on the med-kit efficiency and only obsessions get the heal action. If we were to put this in game like this, I would say the other should be at 20% speed.

The whooooosh just needs to be silenced and the terror radius of the husk should be heard over any audio the killer makes when she starts clicking and cracking indicating her abilitys charged. Terror radius can be watever but she is massively unbalanced because of her unpredictability which likely leads to a scare at best.

I know that she is unbalanced because she is predictable and her terror radius does matter so you can at least come towards them as a surprise and not in a 32 radius

MY DBD HOURS: Roughly 600 Hours

    Problem: In Spoiler

    (Spoiler)

Solution: (Make killers four times as strong than a single survivor & give survivors more stealth opinions)
    (Spoiler)

What you're saying is quite true. This game should be focusing on stealth and not on chases since those are boring and just piss killer and survivors off.

  • @PhantomMask20763 said:
In all honesty killers can be strong without addons but they lack ending a chase quick if it's not one of the top killers. Stealth should be encouraged more though instead of ring around the rosie and if you are wanting to take on the killer head on then it should be difficult and needing lots practice before doing it

The spirit is unplayable without add-ons and Freddy is barely playable without add-ons

She's too weak. Her power is that she can catch upto survivors running away from her and then you can still lose track of them. Base speed too slow. She is trash however good you are at killer. I play her well and mind game pretty good but she has no reward for winning those mind games. You might as well just walk very slowly behind the survivor and hit them like a standard killer only slower.

She should have a bigger terror radius and faster movement speed. She probably needs a touch longer phase walk duration and she is too loud and can be heard really easily.

While I agree with most of your points, making her terror radius bigger just alerts the killer that already alerts them with a static sound, so that wouldn't be a buff

I am p3 with her and been hovering around ranks 3-4, and the cooldown reduction is great, she's very perk dependant but blood is as unreliable as scratchmarks, just soumdwhore with stridor and only Sprint after injured people, been working pretty well so far.

So a killer should only be good with a set kind of perk? Sounds like a weak killer to me...

Even Michael can hold up without perks. Freddy could do it maybe. Spirit is just a good idea, implemented in the wrong way

Rank 1. On PC. Steam of course xD I'm not seeing her.

Which region because NA is pretty much her at rank 1 since launch now.

The Steam region doesn't matter anymore. They made sure it doesn't. I get matched with people in NA, Asia, and Europe. So NA Steam region does not change who you get since they got rid of that doing it.

Sigh , she’s fine. Almost every game I go against her my team and I barely makes it out.

You just don’t know how to use her properly....

if your whole team makes it out every time that probably indicates a poor killer

I mean pretty much right? Or does that mean all killers suck at her? Even the ones who are good? You're saying she's fine yet say all of you get away.

They gave her a teenie tiny buff which helps the risk factor a bit I guess but doesn't boost her stats overall. Her own perks are pretty bad on her and the fact that she has a sound when getting near survivors is plain #########...

Guys. As I already said. This is all because it's been her first week and the start of her 2nd week. And I said, normal survivors. Nowadays almost all survivors even in rank 1 are scrubs to be quite honest.

Wait so now it's almost all survivors are scrubs at rank 1 is the excuse for killers doing well and not because the killer has actual skills.

    In one thread

Survivor mains --> There are good killers who can 4k consistently at high ranks.
Killer mains --> It is because all survivors are boosted and scrubs.

    Then in another thread

Killer mains --> The game is unplayable at high ranks because survivors can easily pallet loop and gen rush.

Still, I don't think personal accounts mean much tbh. As a survivor, I have faced many spirits at high ranks and they were all terrible. Except for one, who camped ant tunneled btw, none of them got 4k.

Leatherface and the spirit are the two killers that make me relax as soon as I see them. I think she needs buff but if you are against the idea, rather than pointing out your personal experience, trying to refute what is provided is better imo.

Stating that, I don't support OP's buffs and changes.

This made me a laugh because you pointed out the double speak about how the arguments go from 1 thread to another.

While I agree personal experiences can't be the sole valid point which is ironic since killer mains use that all the time it can tell how your games go. I've also faced some really horrible spirits but the same is true for other killers as well.

I also agree the changes are ahem not viable ideas.

As far as no sane killer would play her wait what, people are playing ehr a lot, and like Freddy those that know how to get the most do well with them.

I have yet to see my 5th Spirit in 2 weeks of playtime... That's the frequency of Spirit players. I am not a killer main, I am just leaning a bit more to their side. I also play survivor plenty so don't refer to me as a killer main thank you very much.

I do agree with you and of course she doesn't need to see survivors but at least seeing blood as a baseline would be reasonable. A friend of mine hasn't even played vs The Spirit once since release. Normally a new killer would be in all lobbies after the release for at least a whole week. That means something.

I mentioned killers mains as a general and what rank are you at because at rank 1 she's the top played killer right now in my matches.

Rank 1. On PC. Steam of course xD I'm not seeing her.

I like them just instead of no Mori nurf them so 2 hooks Mori 1 hook Mori slugged and Mori the ur Mori though can only be used if 3 gens get done

There are definitely viable ways to integrate Moris into the game without disrupting game balance too much. I should point out this post isn't a complete comprehensive list of fixing every problem with Dead by Daylight and I'm open to additional suggestions. I just wanted to stay on the safe side for having Moris in the Killer's base kit at the moment.

I was quite impressed by your ideas and think that they would actually solve A LOT of problems with Dead by Daylight right now.

  • The whole killer's weakness is intentional xD

  • Forgot to say that I am open to suggestions and/or other ideas on how to make The Spirit a stronger killer in general so she would be playable in rank 1 as well.

  • Holy #########! I agree with almost all the points you made. Not sure if Ruin should be removed after all the changes you made, but it should be nerfed a lot or just last for a minute or two after the game starts.

Here's a list of changes I made a few minutes ago about The Spirit and the state in which she is right now. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/21940/make-the-spirit-a-playable-killer-maybe-long#latest

Feel free to give me a few suggestions on what you think.

Are you just trying to piss off people or what?

one at the beginning of the game and one at the end. What is so bad with that?

You're actually joking aren't u? It's already unfair that survivors get a free pass when only 2 gens were repaired, which means they played like ######### and don't deserve an escape. Why add 2?

  • Just camp them a bit and bait other survivors with a killer that can one-shot pretty easily. Like huntress with add-ons or MM or the best on being Leatherface with Insidious
