  • The longer you're waiting in a queue, the more spread out your Lobby is going to be in the end. The game extends its search parameters when you've been waiting too long. If I'm waiting more than 60 seconds for people to start showing up in my Lobby, I swap over to Survivor. I do not want a massive variety, much preferring the people around my Ranks to play against.

  • It's nice to see the large variety of responses. Lot of people have a lot of different ideas of what is their win. 100% agree with Runiver and all of you who have responded the same, the game has to be fun to play, and not just a steamroll imo. Much prefer the nailbiters, even when I get rekt.

  • Honestly, who cares about the Shrine right now? Most people are using shards for cosmetics and other things. The one thing I'd be most pissed about if I played this on a console, is the fact you ps4 users are getting screwed out of shards right now. PC and Xbox are uncapped.

I'm patient enough I can relax and just build up my shards to use in the Shrine when it comes out. Not that it much matters to me since I almost always just buy BP on it. If you guys were uncapped, you would be able to save up and purchase some things. As it stands right now, there's nothing you can buy when the patch comes in except for a few minor cosmetics if they give you the 1800 they gave us.

I don't think they will do anything special in compensation, but they may either extend or delay the 2x BP. They've already stated they will not be doing exclusives anymore, so I doubt they'll give something to one platform and not another.

  • Where's the purple Kool-Aid? I need a drink if I'm going to buy into this conspiracy theory.

  • I feel bad for the PS4 users actually. Their Shards are still capped. At least I can look at my Shard count and say "Yep, I can buy at least 1 Perk the day it opens."

  • Camping is so boring... I'll vote no and continue with my usual playstyle instead. Maybe if they had some tasty fireworks I could watch while my victim hangs on the hook, but otherwise I'll be opting out.

  • There is no toxic play, only toxic post-game. If it's a fair and legal tactic, as stated by the Developers, then it's not toxic. Every tactic has counterplay to it. It might not be counterplay you want personally, but that is a subjective thing that is your own problem. > @StalwartXX said:

For whatever reason, I've never had more abuse/anger/general toxicity aimed my direction than I have on DbD. It doesn't put me off, I feed on the salt, but I don't understand why there seems to be such a toxic minority. Almost every match or two there's someone mouthing off at me.

Is it just the type of players on DbD? Don't understand why there's so much of it.

Because YouTubers and Twitch Streamers have popularized that culture. A lot of people get a laugh when Jonny Knoxville leaps out of a bush and shoots someone with a taser. It's toilet humor inside of a video game. Too many people are looking at players who play like this, and are making money from it, and say "I want me some of that".

If you dominate them, you are trash. If you go easy on them, you are trash. If you get a nice, balanced game that's a lot of fun for both sides, you are trash. They want you to rise to the bait so they can give their 20 viewers, including their mom and 8 cats, something to laugh about. It's not as bad as it used to be, but they still exist and always will.

The only thing you can do is ignore it and move on to the next match. Rising to the bait makes them even more eager for their next opponent so they can hurl insults and slurs on them as well. You also have to remember, everyone has an ego and they all vary in size. There are people who cannot stand to be beaten, and there are others who are quite magnanimous in their defeat and will thank you for a fun match. As in life, the extreme viewpoints are a minor portion with most players lying somewhere in the middle.

  • It's called Babyrage. When someone can't get what they want, and it remains forever outside their grasp because they are a complete moron.

I used to get tunnel vision a lot until a Survivor suggested to me to break off when I see someone else I can get a hit in on quickly. Such as when you looped him near the generator your teammates were repairing. You hurt that poor man's pride and immasculated him by being smart. Let them rage, threaten, and throw a tantrum. They still got outplayed and made to look like.... a Clown.

I'd still report the idiot though. Those types of Killers need to be euthanized.

  • I enjoy pallet slamming the Doctor. When I do, I giggle like him afterwards.

  • Hex: You're Fired - Drawing on the power of the Entity, when a totem is cleansed, any totem, a random Survivor or the Killer is chosen and fired from their position. They immediately become a member of the other team with either NOED and BBQ and Chili for Survivor -> Killer or A brown toolbox with a Brand New Part for Killer -> Survivor.

They'll build a wall to split it in half.

    New Perk

Passport - Allows you to move from one half of the map to the other without the Killer's permission.

Green card : you are able to freely teleport around the map, and walk out of the exit gate. However, if trump is in the lobby, all perks are rendered unusable, and instead of teleportation, you are always exhausted and exposed.

    Perk

Johnny Cochrane - Female only Perk. Allows you to remove the Exposed effect from Green Card. Gives you 25k Bloodpoints each time the Killer touches you.

  • Tie between Myers yanking me off a gen and getting the surprise pallet to the face when I'm patrolling and not expecting anything. It's always a Feng that does it too. Damn her.

  • Too bad Decisive Strike and Self Care changes aren't going in for a long while. They aren't going to be in the PTB, so they won't make it to the MId-Chapter Balance Patch most likely. We might see them in some form when the new Chapter comes out, but don't hold your breath.

  • 200 and lower. 150-200 only if it is really stable though. Have to watch as it does jump up/down when Killers are checking Profiles. It's when it's fluctuating 40-50 either direction for an extended period (10 seconds or more) that I will leave no matter what it is reading. Tells me the connection is unstable and I'll be getting those lovely teleports.

  • After having played both, definitely the Doctor. The Clown's laugh mixed with his emphysema coughing just isn't as fun. The Doctor's laugh after shocking the ######### out of someone is just superb.

The higher ranks are notoriously difficult to queue. That's one of the reasons people go out of their way to depip.

But why though? Getting to a high rank isn't hard at all, I would think there would be more people.

A lot of Rank 1 Killers left because of perceived apathy from the Developers about the major imbalances at high Ranks. Then there are the ones like myself who purposely depip to stay in the middle Ranks for fun gameplay without the frustration. You also have the Killers who have deranked to 20 for easy games and to bully the low Ranked Survivors.

Many, many reasons for long queue times at the high Ranks. If they would implement a rewards system for Ranks each season, a lot more people would aim for the high Ranks. Until they do that though, it's useless to even try since all you're doing is giving yourself a headache with absolutely no reward. Maybe do it once for the Achievement if you need it, but otherwise find a Rank you are comfortable with and stay there.

Problem is I play Killer as well, and with my killer I am also in the same situation. I should not have to De-pip to be able to even play let alone with people of equal skill.

I play and I end up pipping, I think thats how it is for most people. To be forced to stay at a lower rank just to play is quite obnoxious.

The devs should just rid this game of rankings all together if this is going to be a common occurrence. Or would this entail something worse? I really don't think it would. Since lower and high ranks are already mixing by de-pipping anyways.

This was a part of the reason I decided to work on P3'ing every Killer I want to play. By dropping back to level 1, it provides me a chance to up their skills and depip at the same time. Some of the games are frustrating because you get used to certain Perks, but it's making my core game a lot stronger by not being able to lean on them. I take 1 match's worth of BP with me when I Prestige so I can come out swinging with an Offering and a few addons, even though I only have 1 Perk slot to utilize.

Everyone has their own idea of fun though, so what's good for me isn't going to good for others. I do hope they add incentives to rank, as I would definitely aim for Rank 1 every season, but if/when it happens it won't be for a long time I think. They haven't even mentioned it since they put out their gameplan for each Chapter.

The update dropped on the 12th for PCs. It has not been 4 weeks, or a month, or half a year like so many people keep saying. The PTB was around longer, but that's not the actually update or content. They still did some tweaking afterwards. It's only been 19 days since it's release on the PC, even less if you are only counting business days which is what matters in this instance.

You really need to find another game to play for a while. The shard cap makes it even worse since you can't even stockpile shards atm. There is nothing you can do to speed up the process. It takes as long as it takes. Just be happy you weren't expecting the Shrine to be up on the announced date. I'd rather have a timeframe of soon, then get a release date and it not even happen.

If the update doesn’t come July 3rd I wonder what pc and Xbox are gonna have to say will they be shocked will they try to defend bvhr and Sony find out on the next episode of DRAGON BALL Z

I will actually be pissed even though I am a PC user. They will lose a portion of the playerbase I'd think if that happens. Really, really bad Customer Relations. The only other option would be to delay the BP Event, and that would be even worse since the PC/Xbox crowd might have it worked into their normal schedules already. Or else they could provide a BP Event for PS4 users at a later date, once the update is dropped.

BHVR has a pretty bad reputation already for updates and things of that nature. Adding Sony into the mix just makes it even worse. I feel bad for you guys out there on the Playstation, and I've always been a PS fanboi as far as consoles go, but right now the best course is patience and prayer. Maybe contact a voodoo practitioner and start getting the dolls made up to curse some people.

If you do the bare minimum to kill those two survivors (find them, down them, camp them), the game is going to give you the bare minimum emblems. The ability to stand next to a hook and not move does not require a vast amount of skill, and your emblems will reflect that.

On the other hand, if you're able to keep applying pressure to survivors while still getting those two kills, the game will recognize that and reward you appropriately.

It's the same deal for survivors too. If they do nothing but hide in lockers all game, they aren't going to pip just because they slip out the door. They rank if they did well, not if the do the bare minimum.

Fortunately if you just play to kill, rank isn't important, since your rank does not influence your ability to kill.

You wouldn't say that if you had to catch them.

I say that and I have to catch them. Camping is the Killer easy button, just as looping is the Survivor easy button. The emblem system doesn't reward you doing it the easy way anymore. Just look at the posts complaining about Evader. It does still need tweaking a bit imo, but overall I think it's a vast improvement from what we had.

  • Lery's one for me as well. Have had totems spawn in the fat shaming spot, and the Survivors will do them then stand there and BM me afterwards. Nothing you can do about it now, as it has been reported so many times. I'm actually shocked it's still in the game at this point. Huntress is the only one who can stop it, and even then you get screwed because they'll just bleed out instead of giving you points/emblem points for the hook/kill.

  • I've never run out of the Common add-ons when running a Killer, except when I was farming BP with them to level another Killer for Perks. If the Bloodweb is being nice, I even get a bunch of yellows to go along with them. Normally I'll save the pink, purple, and green ones for the final few levels before I Prestige. All depends on how many I get.

You get so much BP as a Killer, you should never have an issue with Addons and Offerings each match. I have noticed that the Bloodweb gets more expensive though as you get higher in Prestige because it does give you a higher rarity on items in it. So expect to level a little bit slower, but you'll have good addons. My last 30 levels as the Clown, taking him to P1, I had either yellow or better add-ons the whole time. So 20 levels of mostly using commons and getting used to his abilities. Then 30 levels of yellow/green mostly with some purple thrown in there.

  • Gates in the endgame can be a big thing for Survivors to strategize. I'll leave them at 99% and wait for a Killer to hook someone just so that Blood Warden doesn't activate. It's a tactical choice. Sometimes I'll even make sure a Survivor sees me while hanging on the hook and I'm standing at an exit gate. If they are on comms they can pass it to their friends. It also gives them a direction to run after the unhook if they didn't see where the exit gates are located. There are multiple reasons to leave a gate at 99%, or less, for Survivors.

Rather than messing with the gates, just give the Killers an aura read after X minutes. It can take newer players a bit of time to find them, so 4-5 minutes after the gates are powered seems a fair amount of time. At that point the Survivors' auras are lit up for the Killer to track them down. It prevents bullying (Survivors stealthing the map just to be toxic to the Killer) without being too OP.

If they're opening the gates, the Survivors have basically won the match unless the Killer is built for it. They shouldn't be penalized for attempting to save their teammates. Some Killers build for the endgame though. They expect the Survivors to finish all the gens, and then their terror hits. Remember Me, NOED, Blood Warden, etc will help the Killer in this instance. It's just a high risk/reward situation. If you put a time limit and aura read in though, all the Killer's endgame material is used up, except in the case of NOED if the totem isn't found.

  • The matchmaking in the game has been horrendous ever since I started playing. I no longer look for reason or rhyme in it, just accept what I'm given and move on to the next.

I solo queue as a Survivor and it sucks to walk into a match with a low Rank Killer because they've been waiting for a bit. Always feel a bit awkward afterwards because I thought he was my Rank. Can usually tell after the first chase though, so I'll notch it back a few to make it not so ugly. I know what it's like having middle/high Ranks in your match when you're a low Rank Killer.

  • The update dropped on the 12th for PCs. It has not been 4 weeks, or a month, or half a year like so many people keep saying. • I kill 1 person and get an almost guaranteed pip. I don't camp either. This system rewards hooking and leaving much better than the Cube. Yet another incentive not to camp.

  • If I'm the Killer and someone purposely sandbags another Survivor, they are going on the hook. If I'm a Survivor and someone purposely sandbags me, there are situations where it's purely accidental, I'm suiciding on the hook. I won't play with such people. I don't bother with the report form. It's a waste of time imo.

  • The only Killer outfit I am considering purchasing is the dark veiled Nurse outfit. That one looks fantastic. The rest are really meh. My Hag in her P3 looks so much better, although one or two of her bodies might work well. The darker ones at least. It sucks because I really dislike playing the Nurse, and am just going to use other Killers to farm BP for her to level 40, but the Killer side of the store was a big letdown for me.

Lettuce Hag is horrible btw. Just thought I'd put that out there. P3 ftw!

    It's perfectly normal.

This is where we will disagree. I've been playing games for a long time now. I've never seen people complain about this much. I've seen much more caustic complaining. I mean real emotions....but not every single aspect of the game.

I do not believe this amount of complaining is normal. Complaining, yes, normal. TWO YEARS and people still complain about camping.....come on.

    @Mringasa said:

Besides, have you never heard the phrase "The squeaky wheel gets the grease"?

Of course...I just don't think the constant appeasement of the masses is conducive to the overall health of the game.

A long time ago....a Dev once told a forum (something like) "Most people enjoy the game. We just have a very vocal and negative minority in these forums. People who like the game are too busy playing the game". That always stuck with me. In the case of DBD....seems as though a lot of people hate many aspects of the game, yet STILL play the damn thing. Hence the question, "Why are you still here".

Most of it is because they had one bad match and feel the need to vent somewhere. I always enjoy reading the "X is too OP" Discussions because you know they just had a match where whatever it is hurt them badly or caused them to screw up. Most posts here you have to take with a grain of salt because that's all they are, a way to express being upset you screwed up by focusing blame on something else. Much like US politics.

If there's noone complaining, then of course the game is perfectly balanced. You will never get to that point in a competitive style game. The meta should constantly change, reflecting balance adjustments and new additions, and there should always be someone posting about how "This change is horrible". That means the Devs are doing their job to keep the game fresh and enjoyable.

Since the meta has been so stale for the past 2 years, a lot of people just stopped playing. The free weekends and other events also bring a new population. For them stuff like Camping and Looping is completely new and unanticipated. It will seem either OP or cheating until they learn the proper methods of combatting that tactic.

The first time I got Camped, I was pretty pissed. I stayed and asked the Killer why, and got a really good explanation for the reasons. Have to add the other Survivors threw salt at him, but I was curious as to why he did it. Once I knew, I had to plan my strategy around the possibility of being Camped, or having another Survivor get Camped. Take that into account though for things like "Camping should be bannable" and other posts along those lines. I'll not even get into the first time I got semi-Infinited and facecamped the poor bugger. Then I got a pretty good explanation of the whys and reasons, and what I should do in that situation from the Survivors post-game. Salty at first, but then they realized I was new to Killer and a couple gave me good advice.

  • fwiw, it definitely didn't occur against a Freddy, so that requirement is not needed. After the nerf he got, a lot of people stopped playing him, and at the time he was new to me so I was having issues surviving against him. Took me quite a few games to realize some of the better strategies.

  • All you have to do is open the exit gate. I do not think you need to survive. I'm almost positive I got the Achievement pop-up just after completely opening an exit gate. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. On PC though. I have seen bugs with other Achievements though, looking at you Taking One for the Team and Skilled Huntress, so it might be missing a count here and there. Just keep playing and opening those exit gates. It should pop-up for you at some point.

  • As a Survivor, 2. There are too many hackers. Normally that's an 8.
As a Killer, 8-9. Love it. Have not encountered any Survivor hackers in the latest round of them (1 in the past year) and I love the gameplay.

Both sides: win, lose or get rekt, the gameplay is fantastic and enjoyable. Even those matches that only last 1-2 minutes for me give me pleasure.

  • The ones who love the game are going to be the ones who complain the most. It's perfectly normal. You want your game to be perfect for a given value of perfect that you have come up with yourself. Besides, have you never heard the phrase "The squeaky wheel gets the grease"?

  • The noise bubble is going to hurt Bitter Murmur. Survivors do not see this except for hooks, so Dark Sense is actually going to be much more powerful in this regard. They can just hide behind their own bubble and wait for Bitter Murmur to drop before moving.

The change in colors helped to guard against BBQ. I find myself getting outted a lot less now. The reverse of that is that I'll see more Killers hanging around the hook because they don't know if people are behind gens or if they are near the hook.

The DS and Self Care nerfs aren't scheduled for the PTB. They want discussion and input on them. I'm assuming that means they won't make it to the Mid-Chapter Balance Patch either. The only thing major going in from what I can see is the Exhaustion change and the BNP change. That plus all the neat little tweaks to other Perks. Hopefully this stirs up the meta a bit. I don't use SB at all, preferring Balanced Landing or Lithe, so the Exhaustion adjustment doesn't do a whole lot to me. I can count on 1 BL or 1 Lithe per chase atm anyways.

  • Implementing voice communications, and then rebalancing the game is the only way to make Solo queue'ers balanced against SWF. Voice comms give such a massive advantage that you can't balance it in any other way. So implement it, and then balance Killers around it.

The only problem is, the game was built to be solo queued and not SWF. It would be extremely difficult, if not completely impossible, to fix the game for solo players now. SWF should never have been allowed in the first place. The fact that they use voice communications, a third party software app that provides a massive advantage over the other players in the Lobby and the Killer ( a cheat ), makes it even worse.

  • Most Survivors don't stick around when they die unless they have friends or are really interested in the outcome of the match. You "might" get 1, maybe 2 gg's if you 3/4k. It all depends on how fast they leave the post-game to wash the taste of a death away.

When I die early, I usually just close out, upgrade and move on. I don't hang around. If it's really close to the en of a match though, or I am extremely interested I'll spectate a bit and post a gg. I can honestly say though, that the majority of my matches I'll get at least 1 gg, with the occasional extras depending on how many people hung around to see the match end.

  • And what happens when you can't tab out to upload the video and provide a link? Should we just junk the video even though it has proof? Definitely time to change my review . This is out of hand, and removing a tool that helps us as players keep the trash out of the game is foolish.

People posting footage without proof and the Developers having to weed through it to find the legitimate hackers is part of the process. No matter how many false reports you get, there's always the chance that someone was cheating. They need to accept this and give us a report form that doesn't require jumping through hoops. Hell, give me the job. I'll gladly wade through a thousand videos a day for minimum wage to find the cheaters in the game. Be a damn sight better than what we have now, which is smoke and mirrors.

  • He's already in the Entity's world, it doesn't get more dangerous than that. Hopefully the Entity is keeping him well stocked with his preferred brand. Nicotine withdrawl is horrible. Although... that could potentially turn him into another Killer....

That is completely irresponsible, and the devs should be ashamed for making us jump through hoops to keep their game fair for everyone.

What if you cannot tab out of the game because it crashes on you when you do? Then you are basically screwed because you cannot help to stop the cheating. Right now there is a massive influx of cheaters, legitimate ones, and there is no report form to help stop them. I love this game, but I stopped playing Survivor because I'm not going to chance running into another speedhacker and ruin my match. If they don't give us the tools to report things like this, then it's time something else got done.

That has literally never worked. All it does is incentivize toxicity and harm the game, while the self-righteous types say "Oh, it's not my fault, it's the devs' fault" to distract from the fact that they are part of the problem.

Then please show me where I can upload the two videos I have of speedhackers for the Developers to review for a possible ban. I have no idea what to do. I do not have a YouTube account, I do not have any idea how to edit them, and I definitely have no idea where to find a report form so I can do this the proper way.

If the Developers don't provide you with the tools, then there is nothing you can do about it. Maybe it's time to change my review with the reasoning behind the change. Should I report them to Steam for not providing us with a method to report hackers? Is there a way to report them directly to EAC for them to review the footage and make a decision? Maybe I can call the President and see if ole Donald wants to check it out. Maybe he'll do something about it.

I hate naming and shaming, but when nothing is being done to solve the problem, go for it. The Developers obviously don't care about the state of the game, or they would give us a way to report suspected hackers. How many days has it been since this started?

  • I always do it because if the Killer is Camping, I want my teammates to go knock out the generators. If me raising my arms to the hook keeps him there, he's doing exactly what I want. I will take the death, even if I only get 1k BP, and the Killer gets punished for Camping. Enjoy your 8k BP and depip. I just pray everytime that my teammates get the picture and don't just crouch around looking at the ants on the floor the whole time I'm on the hook.

  • Whatever the Bloodweb decides to give me. Prestiging everyone, so a legitimate build is usually out of the question. The new setup for Perks though, having all uniques available at level 1, is really nice though. I have in the past put in Spies from the Shadows because that is what I had. Oddly enough I managed some good downs/hooks with it too because noone expected me to have it. Some funny endgame chat there.

Once I P3 and hit level 50, I'll probably mess about with various things. Especially with the changes possibly coming in once they finish up the PTB for the mid-Chapter Balance. Wondering what other Perks might get a good going over and become useful for various builds.

  • With the change to gens and Survivor aura, it's a lot less useful now. MUCH easier to hide from the aura read now. Take a couple seconds off your gen to properly position yourself, the Killer has a second or so when hooking for you to do this, then get back to it after counting 4-5 seconds for safety's sake. Not too difficult.

If you're caught out in the open, walk in some random directions before heading back to where you were going. The only time you are in any danger is if you're caught out in that sweet spot just beyond the unreadable range, and it's a Billy. Then you probably better hope your juking skills are really good if he has a nice path to your location.

  • It's just pure RNG. Lot of times I'm hunting for a hook because they are clustered in certain areas. Usually there's one close by, but I've held off downing someone because I didn't see any. Not my fault that Survivors aren't paying attention to their surroundings and trying to avoid hooks.

I rarely get complaints about my connection. DbD is very forgiving when it´s about the internet speed. A ping of 200 can still play almost normal. I don´t know any other game that allows this.

You can play quite normally at 200 ping as long as it's steady. That's generally my limit for ping, and as long as it hovers from 198-202, I'm good with it. It's the ping that bounces like crazy, even after letting it settle down for load-in, that I'll generally dodge if it's over 170. I haven't played anything past 205, but I'm tempted to see what a steady ping around 250 is like.

@Mringasa That's actually a really good point for farming, thanks!

But besides trying to purposefully exploit that I think the Chaser Emblem doesn't truly reflect you evading the killer. For example the very thing you said it getting found on purpose just to max out the emblem lol.

That's the problem with it right now. If you play "properly", you're going to stealth and slowly work your way out of the Killer's TR before moving on about your business. The point gain for being hidden inside the Killer's TR is microscopic in comparison to being in a chase. They really need to ramp it up, and quite honestly I think they need to reduce the one for being in a chase considerably. That will focus on a stealth game instead of the current Looped til Daylight.

  • DS and Self Care are only being discussed and worked on. They will not make it into the PTB or the Mid-Chapter Balance Patch. Most likely if they occur, they would be in the PTB after that for the new Chapter. Still quite a long ways away from that. That's if they make it that far, and depending on what they get for feedback they may change them in a different way.

  • Detection perks are fine as they are I think. It's up to the Killer to work their way around them, much like Survivors have to work their way around Killer detection perks. If you see that a Survivor is always a step or two ahead of you, that means they are probably running something to give them an edge. Time to moonwalk and/or look in other directions when creeping up on them.

  • Hedge Maze - Mixture of The Shining with some good medievel architecture. Make it alive so the walls could randomly shift at different times, not just with generator activation.

An abandoned Mine - So many good Killers could utilize this as a home. Being chased through it by a Killer wielding a pickaxe would be superb.

A motel surrounded by iron fencing for the area limitations. Pool of course. Would be an interesting area to
    chase people around.

Some form of Arctic wasteland. We have so much dark and dreary. Give us something white and shiny. Could add increased blizzard activity instead of fog effects for the offerings. Tracking through a whiteout ftw!

Something along the lines of the movie Cube where every room looks exactly the same. Every piece of LoS blocker and such should look exactly the same in each "room".

  • Tacos are awesome. Tacos are LIFE! L I F E ! Which is something I need to get instead of reading random threads on these Forums.
