First of all Im a survivor main.

I used to be the one who was complaining about camping and tunneling.

But since Ive been playing killer a lot, I can understand why some killers are camping or tunneling.

Sometimes you are loosing and you want to apply pressure by camping or tunneling. Some other times you want to protect a 3gen near the hook. Or you just want to punish a player that annoyed you.

Im not saying that im doing that all the time, I try not but sometimes it just happened.

But I want to talk about the killers that just tunnel or camp as a strategie, like they camp or tunnel at the start of the game, with no reason except its their playstyle. I still not understand them.

So im asking to you : For you, does the killer need a reason to camp or tunnel ? or is it just a legal strategie that is ok for you ? And why ?

Im still learning killer, and I just want to know your opinion.

Your question is based on a false premise. The only reason you need to justify Tunneling, Camping, Slugging, etc. is that you decide to do it. They are legal, valid tactics within the rules. You don't need justifications. If you want to do it, or feel it is important to do it to win a given match, you should feel free. There is no Survivor's Guide for Killers. That is a joke, and only funny because so many bad sport Survivors seem to think it exists (or should). You do you. Only you know what you need to do at any given moment. If YOU want to set rules for yourself, feel free to do so. Just remember that whatever morays you apply to yourself do not apply to others, nor should you judge anyone else if they choose not to adopt your personal code. The only things anyone has to do to be a good sport in Dead by Daylight are:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hack or lag spike.
    2. Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory, and gracious in defeat.

If the DEV ever decide they want something against the rules, they will tell us and/or create mechanics to appropriately charge us for the activity. Tactics are not strategies; they are tools. Sometimes Tunneling and Camping are the right call, and sometimes they will hurt you more than help you. Used correctly they are potent; used incorrectly they are no different from shooting yourself in the foot. Only time and practice will hone your instincts to know when one is right and when one is wrong.

I needs to be stated that newbie Killers tend to face newbie Survivors. New Survivors are weaker than new Killers because the strength of Survivors is in their cooperation. They don't know how to work Generators to milk hooks, how to deal with a camper via Perk or coordination. They don't know any of the slightly more complex tactics required to beat the brutal, simple approach of camping and tunneling. They will learn, but it will take them longer. That is why we get so many damn complaints here. It feels very unfair to them, because they don't know how to do anything yet. The real irony of the matter is that newbie Killers should NOT Camp or Tunnel because it hurts them in the long run. The balance of power eventually shifts, like a see-saw, to the Survivors. Once they know what they should be doing, Killers are always behind the Eight Ball. Does that make sense? Newbie Killers SHOULD be taking advantage of the easier, early games to hone hunting skills. You need to know how to Search & Destroy. Trying to learn it later when Survivors know what they are doing is painfully difficult. :)

Hear me out before you kill me.

First, I don’t think NOED should be a HEX. Here is how it should work:

When the last generator pops, the exit gates are blocked, and the killer receives the NOED powers. However, these powers are on a timer, and it is based on the number of hooks the killer has gotten throughout the match.

NOED is granted for a minimum of 30 seconds, and for each hook an additional 10 seconds is added to that timer.

When the timer runs out, NOED is over. Killer gets guaranteed use, a guaranteed strong end game, and then devs can fix the speed of the game instead of bandaid fixing gen speeds with NOED.

I disagree. NOED should come with risk, and reward Survivors for doing their secondary objective. In fact, I wish there were MORE Hexes like NOED that triggered later (although not necessarily in the ECG) to encourage them to go after Dull Totems. I keep hoping they create a Perk that lets the Killer reignite a Dull Totem to bring back a cleansed Totem. It wouldn't be automatic like Undying, but rather take time and effort (at least much as cleansing it did). When the game was originally designed the DEV always assumed Survivors would dedicate more time to the secondary objective. Generator speeds, to some degree, kept that in mind. Ignoring Totems causes some of our "too fast" issue with Generators. So no, I like NOED the way it is now, and hope there are more Hexes in the pipe that turn Dull Totems into active ones mid to late game.

Spirit defenders be like "just run No Mither and Iron Will to cancel out Stridor lmaoooo"

I think there is a difference between "defending" Spirit and saying she does have counter play. :) Do I think she could use a tweak? Yes. I think she should be the same speed as a Tier-1 Myers when not Haunting, i.e. 105%. I think that is the only change required to make her in line with the other effective Killers but knock her down from unchallenged top spot. I don't think this would destroy her efficacy because:

    1. I play Spooky Myers all the time and manage to get hits.
    2. She gets the lion's share of her hits coming out of Haunt anyway.

My view of her is that she is one of the most potent Killers in the game, but I disagree that she has no counter play. She does; it just isn't the style of play most Survivors want to use. :)

I know another spirit post, but I've read a lot of post about her and people are convinced there is counter play to her. I'm here to tell you the very truth. The only counterplay a spirit has is using a god pallet or god window that's it. There's no other counterplay to her and I will explain why many of the supposed counters to her are wrong.

The first one is running back through your scratch marks. This is by far the most stupid one to do because you literally are running back towards the spirit and will run head on into her and she will down you. Don't ever do this because a spirit with a brain will instantly get you.

The second counter play I hear is to hold w and break line of sight. This still doesn't work because the spirit will phase to you and catch you before you can make it anywhere. Also breaking line of sight doesn't help because she uses sound to track you not scratch marks, scratch marks are the very least the spirit should worry about. Also you are invisible to the spirit already if she phases so how would breaking line of sight help in the first place.

The third counter is slow vaulting windows or pallets. This also doesn't work because you guessed it, you make noise still while slow vaulting. The survivor makes a moaning while slow vaulting. I know it isn't loud, but is still easily heard if your paying attention. Also slow vaulting into a fast vault doesn't work because when you fast vault dust kicks up into the air on the side you fast vaulted.

The last counterplay that I I've seen is the reverse pallet drop. You drop the pallet infront of you instead of running through and dropping it. Again this doesn't work because of sound. The spirit can hear your breathing and when injured moaning. Alls she has to do is to 50% around to pallet here what side you on and come out and hit you. Also you through the pallet in the direction that the spirit is coming from so if she desides to go head on towards the pallet your screwed.

That is all I have on the Spirit counterplay. I am open to hearing your guys thoughts on the matter (please be civil) and maybe you can try to change my mind on it, but for know the only counter to spirit IMO is using a god pallet or window.

All of this is way too complicated. The best counter to Spirit it to keep moving, but doing so in a walk or a crouch. In short, it is more effective to evade, i.e. immerse, and rotate through the Generators and attrition her down. The Spirit likes using her power. Her power comes with the disadvantage that she can't see you. She relies on sound and/or scratch marks. She follows predictable, obvious routes of movement since she has to fly around invisible. You can, and should, take advantage of these tendencies. What follows works for me. It has worked for my friends I instructed as well. It is only as good as your adherence to it.

    1. Walk or crouch (if you have the appropriate Perk to crouch about quickly) to a Generator. Leave no red marks and avoid being spotted.
    2. Start working on the Generator. The second you hear the audible que that the Spirit is going into Haunt mode, walk away to terrain.
    3. Once out of LOS from the Generator you were working you can run if you like or walk a bit more (better) toward the next Generator.
    4. If indications on your HUD make it clear she went somewhere else you can return to the Generator you were on.
    5. Repeat the process.

Perks like Spine Chill, Quick & Quiet, Urban Evasion, Iron Will, Calm Spirit, Head On, and numerous others which help you evade rather than Loop are all quite useful here. If you (and your team) regularly rotate through the Generators moving quietly and methodically the Spirit will have trouble getting a lock on anyone. The match will go slower because banging out Generators quickly is hard to do if you are constantly rotating and/or being extra cautious to pause and confirm she wasn't haunting to your location. They will, however, get done. The key to beating the Spirit is not giving her the free hits (or grabs) coming out of Haunting. Without those free hits, she is just another standard Killer with high mobility and Generator Pressure.

Let me put this another way, if you remove the free hits from her, she is a bit more like Wraith, Blight, Nurse, and Freddy in that she can rocket around the map to check Generators. When you face those Killers you constantly have to get on and off Generators too. So in that respect, playing against the Spirit isn't really that different or any slower than fighting them. The problem many people have is they like to GAMBLE on the Spirit not coming their direction. This is a bad bet when an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Many people like to run EVERYWHERE which is kind of suicidal against the Spirit as many of them moving about will spot random red marks and just start following them. Why wouldn't they?

My chief irritation with other Solo Players is their tendency to be in a hurry. It is a bad idea against any Killer but particularly risky against a Spirit. Every match I enter begins the same way; I start moving toward a Generator and some other Survivor runs by me and gets on that Generator literally a second or two before I do. The tiny amount of time they saved and applied to the Generator also left a big red arrow pointing at us, made noise, and was largely irrelevant. I'm not suggesting people crouch everywhere (that is too slow short of having the right Perk) but I think running is best done when appropriate and necessary. Why leave a trail when you don't have to or when it saves you very little time? More to the point I define evading as being sneaky but productive. It is different from simply hiding which is doing nothing.

The Spirit is problematic for a lot (perhaps even most) Players because they have honed their Looping skills, but not their evasion techniques. Many Players confuse evasion and hiding, when they are very different indeed. Evasion works with cute tricks like moving toward a Generator safely, waiting until the Killer checks it (which is going to be soon against a good Killer) and starting work as they move off. This ensures maximum time before they return to check it as they already confirmed in their mind that nobody is here (or was here). Another trick happens during rescue. Often you will be moving to get someone off a hook that was nailed near a Generator that is pretty far along. Do NOT make that rescue immediately unless you must. The second you unhook the Killer is on their way back because there is a Generator and a targets there. Finish the Generator and then unhook. Do you see my point?

The best Survivors (and I am not calling myself one of the best) are accomplished Loopers and Evaders. They know how to switch between the two modes when appropriate, mixing and matching as an individual match calls for it. No plan survives contact with the enemy and you have to be able to improvise. For example, you CANNOT fight a Spooky Myers (Scratched Mirror) the same as you would a Maniac Myers. If you do, you are going to get waffle-stomped. You have to fight sneaky one exactly the OPPOSITE of how you would the more common variety. Think of Spirit the same way. You cannot fight her the way you would a normal Killer. Save your bad ass looping for when the evasion falls apart. In her case, the best defense is to make her haunt all over the map getting frustrated while you and your team slowly, but surely inch the Generators toward being done. Towards the end of the match you will notice the Spirit spending less time haunting and more time running around like a standard M1 Killer because they will have figured out they need LOS to spot you.

im honestly fine with getting a stun, i was just looking for a way to minimize my mistakes lol. i wanna be able to utilize legions ability to slide over pallets and chase victims but if they dont drop the pallet soon enough its like... well darn lol. so im trying to figure out how to navigate better as a legion but so far im super struggling lol

You have the right attitude about it, and you ask questions. I've faith you will get to where you want to be in short order. There are no shortcuts, no silver bullet or secret equations. This game (both as Killer and Survivor) is driven by the basics, nothing more and nothing less. It just takes countless hours in the field to hone your skills. Intellectually all the information you need is available. The best Players in the game (and some bad ones too) make videos, write articles, and stream/podcasts/etc. all the time. The problem is that while the information is good, the only way to internalize it is practice, lots of practice. Good advice can cut a little time off your journey, but overall you will just have to log the hours.

In regards to Legion, you will find that a lot of Players are stingy with the Pallets, particularly if you are using your power. While in Feral Frenzy you can only give them Deep Wounds but will not down them. Good Survivors KNOW this and don't really see the point in dropping the Pallet and wasting it unless they are going to get a stun. The best ones won't drop it at all. The really good ones know that dropping it just lets you (with the right add-on) slide over it and break it with them getting no benefit whatsoever. Do you see my point? I doubt you are doing anything wrong, but rather many of your opponents are doing everything right. Part of being a good Killer is making others pay for mistakes; if they aren't making any obvious ones, you will have to finesse them into some.

My map knowledge is pretty limited, I'm not familiar with any of the maps as a survivor or a killer, and I'm getting my **** slapped every like 5 seconds with like 3-4 pallet drops per chase. Like right now I feel like I'm in a lose lose situation as Legion because sure I can pallet slide... if the pallet is down, AND if the survivor actually drops it behind them before I get to it. Usually all survivors just sit and wait and drop it right on my poor little head and I get stunned, and normally I just break the pallet so I can avoid it in the future. IDK why the game is putting me up against Rank 10s when I myself am just a rank 20 killer, like... i'm not even sure how my own perks work yet lol.

Am I just being a fool by even playing legion? He's fun and all but against anyone who has a remote clue what they're doing this is a nightmare. Like I can use any of the perks legion is supposed to have because survivors arent dropping the pallets pre-emptively, and they know the map way better than I do so half the time I don't even see a pallet ahead of me, and if im mid-frenzy the goal is to GET to the survivor, not hang back far enough so I can make sure the pallet is dropped so I can slide over it like my perk allows me to.

Any tips would be appreciated, even if its "just dont play legion" (which makes me sad I like him/her) but honestly im not sure what to do. the last game all the survivors were such extreme bullies to me lol

Well, lots of people have given you advice, but I would say that pallet stuns are hardly the end of the world. Take them often and early and clear those pallets out. Respecting the pallet will often cause you to miss a hit or a down. I can't tell you how many times I've downed a wounded survivor and just had to ride out the stun before picking them up. Stuns late in game, particularly during the EGC are a stake through the heart, but early on they are just part of the job. In fact, I am more than happy to get that stun to break up problematic tiles which will allow me to defend the Generators in that area easier.

If Stuns bother you that much, look into the Perks that let you have shorter stuns or smashing through pallets faster. But overall, I would say don't worry about them so much.

I think that's a pretty common trend amongst players in general.

You also don't see many killers saying "GG" after 0K displeased entity... but when they 4k, it's almost always "GG".

I don't know about that. I say GG (or I elaborate more if I can to personalize the compliment) whether I win or lose. I run into plenty of people who do the same.

I'm playing solo mind you, and I'm being paired both with and against people roughly 10 ranks above me. When is this nonsense going to end? If BHVR has no intention of changing anything, then for the love of God put in a custom game option that allows me to play against bots. At least that way I can blow off some steam after being absolutely decimated against people I have no business being paired against.

Why do the colors and your Res look so screwed up in that snapshot you posted?

  • @NotYourAverageJay said:

I mean think about it survivors only say gg when they win but when they all die they just send death threats, salt, and blame the killer for the mistakes that the survivors made. I mean I love getting salt msgs but sheesh lol its sad. I know there are a few survivors that say gg regardless of losing and I respect them. Some people just need to take the L and move on. Like what are the odds of survivors saying gg when they lose.

This is another impolite and incorrect variation of the false dichotomy known as "us versus them." Most Players do both both roles, not just one or the other. What I have noticed is that bad sports tend to only say GG if they win, but there is no correlation whatsoever between the role they chose to play. Posts like yours stink of bias and ill-intent. Please refrain from furthering this false narrative. I consider the motives of people who makes posts like this suspect at worst, and ill-informed at best; it makes me think you need to play more time in both roles. I get just as many GG from Survivors as I do Killers, and I suspect I play a lot more than you do. That means my sample size is far more accurate.

  • MMR is like Bigfoot; sometimes there are reports of it slouching in the distance, a grainy shot or a footprint. Enough people believe it is out there that we keep hope alive.

  • Corrupt Intervention is an excellent Perk, despite all the naysayers so far. The key is you have to work to make a profit. There is no such thing as a free lunch. The Perk buys you time, but it is up to you to use it properly. If you aren't good at finding Survivors, all it is going to do is delay things a bit. However, if you are (or have) honing your skills to hunt them down, it works wonders. I like to combine it with Thrill of the Hunt because many Survivors use the two minutes to start killing Totems while they wait on the Generators. This means within the first twenty seconds you get an audible cue of where at least one Survivor is located (and in general it is 2+ in the vicinity of that cue).

If you have designed your routes to allow you to listen for the center, uncorrupted Generators as you search and destroy, you can effectively find your quarry. After awhile, you get a pretty good idea where the Survivors have spawned based on your own arrival point. That means you can cut the map in effective ways. Take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, but I love the Perk. If it isn't working for you, then obviously you should try something else. However, I want to point out that time is not on the side of the Survivor. For them, the best chance of escape is to have a Generator up before the first hook. Corrupt Intervention makes that far harder to accomplish.

  • No, no they didn't. The only people who found them believable (even from the start) WANTED to believe them. They were always this ridiculous.

I was currently in one of my worst played games against a Pyramid Head and im still kinda new. I was runnung forward quite a few times while looking behind me and sometimes ran right out into him because I thought he was behind me. I worked on gens though and did 2 on my own. At the end it was me and a girl who had hatch key and knew hatch location. I was second hooked already and in the barbed wire stuff so I didnt run away so I could die and the other girl could use hatch.

At the end of the game, the killer said theyre reporting me, and I thought it was because I died so my teammate could escape but they said the reason was because I ran toward them which was more in the first half of the game when I was looking behind me with my camera as I ran. He said I did it 3 times and, I did but not purposely. I was looking behind and around me.

Again i'm still new and it was my first time playing a different survivor than I usually play and his perks are more difficult to understand so I was scrambled the whole time. I have never been reported in any game that I know of, so im nervous now? I didnt think I could be reported for messing up looking a certain direction and happening to cross paths with the killer. I dont think im the worst at the game but im not the best. Ive owned the game for 4 years but this month is the first time I ever played it, ive had a lot of games to catch up on.

They don't need a permit to do it, you know that right? Speech is not restricted by loisences. And I don't follow, you don't get to say "Ha! Tryhard is such a stupid word! you're not insulting me you're complimenting me!!!" and then throw a tantrum when you get called tryhard.

In point of fact, you do not have free speech here. This is a private Forum with specific rules you agree to when you sign in. :) And it happens that shaming and trying to grief other players is against the rules. It is bad sportsmanship already, which tells us all we need to know about you.

If you want to? It isn't really making fun of the Players doing that, but rather of yourself, i.e. stating that you aren't trying. It begs the question of why you aren't trying hard, why you are even there.

  • I don't get the meaning of that so-called insult either. I've always taken it as a compliment. I've even responded, a little tongue in cheek, "have you considered actually trying hard too?" "Window-Teching" is a prime example of why devs should punish "techs". Holding an item because a bug lets you run through the killer's hitbox to confuse them is exploiting and thus cheating.

I suspect you are kind of new. Window-Tech has been around for years and they haven't done anything about it because it is a skill that one develops in the games, it doesn't come without risk, and most Killers don't let you get away it. If you are getting worked by window-tech on a regular basis, that is a YOU problem. I can't remember the last time anyone tried it on me where it worked. Sometimes you see it at Haddonfield, so pay more attention there, but overall it vanishes as you improve in Rank because the Killers simply punish you for the attempt.

  • DbD isn't a plug and play game. It doesn't provide a Tutorial worth... well... anything. Even if you are good a video games, that won't help you much here. The only thing that applies is time in the field. There is no magic bullet or advice. You can get lots of good information from Streamers and Youtube and so on, but only many, MANY hours of playing will get you where you want to be. My advice is adjust your expectations to be realistic. This game is for the LONG haul if you are doing it for anything other than cheap thrills and jump scares. If you want to be good, you will have to work for it.

  • Why would the DEV punish a so-called Tech? It isn't a cheat. I grab people all the time; I pride myself on it. They can Tech you and you can Tech them. :)

give me your ideas to help make solo queue a better experience overall

I wouldn't. Solo isn't the problem; it is a symptom of the evolving game and the impact that SWF has had on it. I think SWF needs to be addressed. In regards to Solo, the chief problem is so many good Players have been bled out of it and the ones there don't have the chops. We need a better tutorial or people willing to play Killer to TRAIN Solo to play.

to 4k it doesnt matter on the killer's skill its entirely dependent on the survivors being bad.

I'd like to think I had something to do with it, even if only to know how to take advantage of the mistakes. You and I don't know each other very well yet, but I would caution against assumptions. There is an old saying about them. Most of the people I fight are all Red Rank, or Red/Purple mixed. In general, such groups are no longer "bad" but at least competent.

My original point still stands, there is no point (it is bad sportsmanship in fact) to complain at other Players and demand they play as YOU think is correct. It is obnoxious for us to try and grief/shame people who are playing within the rules. I'm never thrilled to see Haddonfield either, but I expect this is no different from Players getting ANY map which that doesn't lean their way.

If we have feedback and constructive critiques they are best directed to the DEV through the proper channels, i.e. the Feedback & Suggestions area for posts. Angry rants and screeds here intended to attack other Players as a group for the crime of using the Offerings that they earned (and paid for in BP) is just not the right way to go.

  • @Munqaxus said:

    Why not buff it?

I think you misunderstood the context. There is nothing wrong with the Perk itself, but rather if/when Survivors tend to lean on it to the detriment of their team. I play a LOT of Solo so I tend to use a Perk Slot for it (or bring in a MedKit) but I don't use it unless I have no other options. It shouldn't be your "go to" response to getting hurt. It should be your backup plan when you can't get it any other way.

  • Are you a survivor or killer main? Or do you play both equally?

I play both more or less equally.

    Are you a good sport?

I'd like to think so. Unfortunately you have to define it today. There was a time when everyone knew how a good sport behaved. As far as DbD goes it means:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hack or lag spike.
    2. Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

Do you feel the need to max out all of your characters with all perks and prestige them?

No. I could care less about these things.

Do you get tilted when playing this game?

Not anymore... not for a long time.

    Do you buy cosmetics?

I bought the Krampus skin for Trapper, but that's about it.

Think I'm about to quit. Cheatings so rampant the games not fun anymore.

I run a stealth build and I'm pretty dam good. Dam dam good. Dam dam dam good. Also a looping build. but its more obvious using stealth build when they cheat.

When a killers not cheating, I'll always win. Always.

I'll run distortion, calm spirit, iron will, light weight or maybe some self heal or diversion for a laugh.

There's making a lucky 50/50 guess. and then there's smashing every survivor in the first 2 mins with no aura ability and only having 1 perk. I mean, come on. how do rank 10+ beat a full lobby of rank 1-3's.

This shiz is just getting crazy at this point.

Killers running to opposite sides of the map and opening random lockers for no reason. oh look a survivor.

Killers switching direction multiple times as survivors change direction of map rotation from other sides of the map in sync with survivors.

Killers running to downed players again with no aura ability after downing all 4 survivors who have crawled into completely different directions.

Guessing which gen survivors are repairing every time with no aura perk on indoor maps. cant see the lights. no giveaways.

Killers just straight up not even hiding it, you'll be uninjured, no sound, not moving for 30 sec, in some random corner.... your distortion hasn't even triggered. They just run straight at you and the bush you're in. slash. You're perfectly hidden, you're not even doing anything.

And the fake locker opens and loops when you havent moved in 60 secs and theres no bird and no scratch marks. they run straight from one side of the map to you and pretend, hey after a 5 min game of smashing everyone and NEVER opening a single locker I'll run to this one in this area by a already active generator where the survivor has no reason to be here and he's been sitting here for a minute doing nothing. I think he's right... about... here... and stand in front of the locker and nod.

I uploaded videos of just absolutely ######### killers running straight to people perfectly hidden not even pretending to look around things. Its just 10 killers in a row with a perfect, PERFECT game. I'm talking 30+k every game.

Multiple times I say 'hey buddy... how did you get so good, I'm running max stealth, you don't have any aura perks, didn't run once, zero sounds. just ran straight to me. the response is ALWAYS the same... 'Oh! just super lucky...' 1 in 10 post a link to a hack/cheat site to get mods.

    Its so fkn #########.

Surely there's a way to capture the screen output. When they are looking right are you as they do their fake loops. Some statistical method to not ban them but put them only with other players who cheat without telling them. the bell curve on average normal players, win, loss, game time, etc would all look the same, then at the high end there would be a stupid second bell curve of people who just max out points, have 5 min games, never run full perks, never lose a game.

What's happening is you're looking at the win loss ratios and thinking hmmm killers win an awful lot... lets nerf them. Doesn't help because now you have genuine players who want to play using completely nerfed toons while cheating killers don't give a fk, run hacks and still win.

######### I had one killer teleport.

And another killer could do some really spastic basement swipe that would down a random player on the map. And even then, when they were down, they would then suddenly get teleported to the basement.

I've even see killer bots, run around, become obsessed with a single killer, (not the obsession) and no matter where they were on the map they always ran to them and kept swiping, even when in a locker or up high on a different level. bots have heaps of trouble navigating levels. they dont like 3d maps just 2d ones.

I mean, I'm in a game right now and a witch has just downed the whole team with zero gens done. 5 min game. Shes slammed the hatch on the last player who crawled to the other side of the map and into the basement. Guess what happens when all three of the others are sacrificed.... bam, hatch closes 5 secs after its open, killer runs straight into basement and grabs the last guy straight to the right corner. this guy spend 3-4 mins crawling to the other side of the map. killer never once was in his terror radius. killers running no aura perks and yet... bam. straight to them. 30k game for the killer. 2 rank 1 survivors. 1 rank 3 and 1 rank 4. Meanwhile killer has 2 yellow perks! Just closed the game and I'm in the process of uninstalling. This is fkn stupid.

Just move all the insanely good players onto a cheaters server and let them cheat all they like.

Spent. what a rant. Bye bye community dont think you'll ever see me again.

Right, you always win UNLESS they are using a cheat. It must be amazing to be THAT good. :)

Hell, Sluzzy will complain about a BOOST Survivors get to one Perk or another. It is never enough. :)

As simple as it can be, the only reason I'm suggesting this is because of the multiple times I've mistook survivors for gens when using bbq. It'll be great to change their auras that way they can resemble kindred's killer aura, or just to suit your preference.

They won't provide this feature because hiding behind Generators is one of the counter play options to Barbeque & Chili. :)

3 gens can pop in 120 seconds.

The Killer will de-pip and get no points.

Yup. I lot of the posts here are from fairly new Survivors. First big tip for the first few minutes, SPLIT UP... go to the extreme four corners... work Generators. The Killer cannot be in two places at once.

A broken map with infinites. Funny how they disabled 2 Cowshed maps after its rework because survivors had a bad time in the main house but Haddonfield is still there.

Haddonfield is still there because it is tough, not impossible. I got a 4K there two night again playing SLOW, Spooky Myers. I'm not saying that the map is good. I'm just saying all this grief directed at people putting in the Offering is pointless. It will get its rework in due time. Until they we just have put our heads down and charge.

Ah yes like when Breakdown was bugged, they bought the perk and Jeff so they have the right to use it and abuse it!

Yeah, they did. I slugged them all, every time I ran into it, and watched them bleed out. That was an exploit of a bug but the DEV knew they would fix it fast enough that attempting to police it would have been pretty much a lost cause. But please don't compare apples and oranges. Haddonfield is a tough map. There are tough maps on Survivors too. It is luck of the draw, and as another poster pointed out, they give us PLENTY of Offerings to block the map offerings of others.

  • @akanadi said:

why? whats the point running a killer there doesnt make you good, and if you are bad you arent learning anything from it, and its funny because most of the ppl who bring haddonfield complain about camping and tunneling, haddonfield is how to tell me youre insecure about your skill without telling me youre insecure.

Please don't direct this kind of garbage at the Survivors. They bought the Map Offering; why shouldn't they use it? Direct your feedback and suggestions about maps to the people who actually designed it. The Blood Web makes up buy things, I'm not going to apologize for anything I use as a Killer or as a Survivor. You shouldn't be giving people guff either.

  • DS does the EXACT thing in so far as punishing Killers for going for the "just unhooked" Survivor as it has ALWAYS done. The only thing that happened in the recent change is you can no longer do objectives in the Killers face, and if you stop to work an objective you turn it off. All the outcry about it being useless now simply proves that it wasn't being used by SOME (perhaps many) Survivors for anti-tunneling; that was just their excuse. It was always about the Aggro. :)

DS is still an excellent Perk. I think people concerned about getting picked right back up should consider taking it.

  • @akanadi said:

today ive seen a bunch of survivors bring offerings to lery's, why?

Perhaps it is my birthday? :)

  • @Sluzzy said:

Well, decisive strike was nerfed so badly that it punishes to play the game and it is very unfun to use, killers know a lot less are running it so that is why tunneling happens every game. Instead of buffing DS, the devs added the obsession every game but that is no deterrent, killers know less are probably using it now because it is not as required to have the obsession.

Decisive strike needs to be desperately buffed. Games were good when it was meta.

If you look at the powerful killer perks they are all punishment to the survivor with very little to no effort to use. Take a hard look at Tinkerer, killer has to do nothing to get a huge benefit from it. There is simply no reason for decisive strike to have a long list of requirements and punishments for playing the game for it to work. Other than to make it convenient for killer.

Was it? :) I recall you have been complaining about the game since your first appearance here and long before DS got tweaked. In fact, I'm willing to bet I could find a post from you (probably several) where you complain about the old DS too. Give it a rest.

  • I think (and hope) they are introducing Bots, i.e. Zombies with the Resident Evil chapter. I expect they are a passive part of the power of the new Killer, i.e. so many Zombie exist and are likely in and around Generators. They are probably very simplistic and will chase to attack any Survivor that is spotted. *It is possible they are like Victor, i.e. the Killer can jump between them to take control, but I hope it is a bit more of a Bot thing. Such Zombie, like Victor, could be fought back against and killed. A Tyrant of some kind (or a Licker) combined with either Bot or Drone Zombies would certainly mix up the Meta. A relatively slow Killer would extend control and pressure across the map through said Bots/Drones.

Another possibility, keeping in line with the Resident Evil theme is that the Survivors can get infected with the T-Virus and must hunt down the anti-virus before they die (or become Zombies themselves). This wouldn't be unlike Pig's setup where there are places the T-Virus can be obtained but you have to run it down. I don't think would be entirely novel unless the objective is more than running from station to station until you get some anti-virus. I'm just noting this is a possibility because it would fit the theme and the code base (Pig setup) already exists in the game.

I wonder how long killers will blame survivors for their own mistake. Always crying about genrushing when they simply didn't go to gens to stop them and committed to a chase for too long.

Actually it is neither. There are no "sides" because there are just good sports and bad sports. Most Players play both roles. The false dichotomy of "us versus" them is not productive or accurate. There are just good sports and bad sports. People who get salty after a match are simply evidencing bad sportsmanship. It doesn't matter what happened during the match, getting salty is the wrong way to go. The only thing a PLAYER has to do to be a good sport in Dead by Daylight is:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hack or lag spike.
    2. Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

What role a bad sport was playing during the match is entirely irrelevant to anything.

  • It certainly sounds like you are unhappy, and no one wants you to suffer. Please allow me to offer my sincere sympathy and point you to the door. There is no reason to play a game that you don't enjoy when there are thousands at our fingertips. Seek your bliss. And since this is Dead by Daylight, please allow me to play you off over the horizon with an appropriate thematic soundtrack:

Hey Killers! When you're in pre-game do you check Survivor names and recognize/memorize names? Does it ever affect the way that you play your game if you recognize a Survivor?

I'm just curious! I think I went against the same Killer once and that they were less aggressive the second time around but I don't know how much of that was my imagination. 😊

Yes but only against my personal "Black List" and not anywhere else. If I have a Player use Hacks or Lag Spikes during a match, I add them to the Black List. If I have a Player engage in vile chatter at the end of the match (and we are talking really nasty) I add them to the list. Why would I give them a game again?

  • I still think they will have brought Alice, a Licker, and some kind of power that involves Zombie Bots in, i.e. characters from the first movie. This isn't based on my own preference or anything like that, but rather because doing the more iconic types would be difficult to say the least, and they might save them for later, expanded releases. Moreover, awhile back they said something about the "stars" were going to be out in upcoming releases, and that usually implies something cinematic.

Whoever the Killer and Survivor turn out to be, I just hope the new Killer's power somehow relates to some Zombie Bots, nothing too deadly but enough to challenge. It might be nice if they gave us something we can attack and kill (like we do Victor). Consider the Zombies as slow moving, rather dumb creatures that will go after Survivors they see and potentially we can attack them back. Might be just the shot in the arm the game needs. Besides, the big Killer (whomever it may be) would still be standard DbD indestructible.

  • I agree too, but then again I think the entire Emblem system and point caps are outdated and not really in synch with where Dead by Daylight is going. For better or for worse we are approaching (if we aren't there already) a time when SWF outnumber Solo entirely. There are teams where specific Players have strengths and tend to take on certain roles. The best Loopers tend to bait and distract the Killer, the best evaders do Generators and kill Totems. Supposedly there is this "skill based" matchmaking system waiting in the wings (although it is starting to sound more like a Unicorn or Bigfoot at this point) which doesn't use Rank at all. If that is the case, why keep Rank at all and why keep an antiquated system of emblems and maximum points?

I understand the original idea. When most people were Solo, the DEV wanted to encourage Players to be well-rounded and do lots of different things. I think the intention was noble, but it has never really worked. Different Players have different talents and enjoy different things. Insisting that every Player help get two Generators up, do two unhooks and escape several chases in every match is unrealistic and somewhat unreasonable. The reality is that Blood Points should not be capped. You get what you get.

I find it easier and more comfortable to play as Survivor using a controller, than using a keyboard. The buttons are easier to reach and I won’t accidentally let go of a button at some point. Makes movement easier as well.

I do not use a controller as Killer though, always keyboard. I used to but very promptly switched back.

Anybody else use a controller for Survivor on PC?

I use a controller plugged into my PC. I know it prevents me from doing 360s but I just prefer the quicker overall interaction to a keyboard.

  • Exactly. I'm pretty pragmatic. If I caught and hooked someone in the basement once, I have faith I can do it again. I'm more than willing to leave the area. But why would I leave when all my quarry is within six meters of me? Heck, I'm a nice guy actually. Since I play Spooky Myers I can usually see TWO of them by the shack, one looping me and the other waiting to go down. Even though I KNOW that other one is there, I will follow the other away IF he/she leads me. Why? Because I want people to feel they got their Queues worth, and because the longer the match the more BP and Pips for everyone. But if they never leave, I'm not going to either. Why would I teach them bad habits?
