Half? I'd put it at 75%. I only use very specific Add-on(s) given the utter worthlessness of the others by comparison. More to the point, I've also got all these stupid, worthless Mori now too. ;)
-
There is nothing wrong with Borrowed TIme. I play both Killer and Survivor. Borrowed Time exists to encourage you to hit the rescuer rather than the person being unhooked. Do I think the person with BT should lose collision for the same period of the Endurance? Yes. However, even as it stands now, the Perk is one of many tools Survivors can use to try to deal with Campers and Tunnels. If some of them use it for braindead, unsafe rescues which were not necessary, well that is on them.
-
Should be less of a problem on the RE map.

I'm in the same boat you are... and I manage. :)

I've seen enough people complaining about Tunneling and Camping, that wasn't, to put little faith by such threads. However, I'm going to point a few things out, play the Devil's Advocate here.
- Survivors appear to want guaranteed safe unhooks, and nothing short will please them. Let's tell the truth an shame the devil, what you want is for there to be no risk of the Killer hitting the would-be rescuer and thus no reason for someone not to come get you. This leads us to the next point.
- Survivors want it guaranteed that their safety after being unhooked is secure, i.e. the Killer must not go after them immediately. Apparently the idea is someone else must be hooked first, regardless of what the recently saved Survivors chooses to do. Thus, when I find that same Survivor working on a Generator, I must (for some reason) go find someone else or I'm Tunneling trash. :) There are no exceptions, if the same guy gets gone after, the Killer is trash.
- Point one above is silly because you earn additional Blood Points and Emblem advancement for rescues. Why should you get rewarded for something that isn't dangerous. If the DEV were to "fix" things, as some of you insist on calling your desired changes, all Blood Points and bonus for going to rescue someone should be removed. After all, if you have it your way, there is no real risk. Why should you be rewarded beyond the value of having another Survivor helping you on Generators?
- Point two above is even sillier. You have teammates whose job it is to protect you from Tunneling. I'm not going to go into the LONG list of things they (and you) can do to combat the tactic, but it suffices to say it is silly for the Killer (whose role is built right into his/her name) is expected to protect you. If we were to "fix" things as you suggest, the unhooked Survivor would have to be rendered totally useless for whatever agreed upon time is appropriate. You can't work objectives, heal, etc. You shouldn't have collision or be able to open gates. You are a "ghost" effectively if the Killer can't affect you, then you should have ZERO ability to affect the match. Perhaps you should vanish off the map and be unable to see what is going on until you "return." Does this sound silly? Why? It would simply hold you to the same rules you want to apply to the Killer.
- Killers aren't Bots. They are Players and they want the same agency as those playing Survivor. Removing some of the few choices they make will not help the game, but rather aggravate a growing problem.
- The DEV understand risk and reward. Why do you think they give both an audible and visual cue when someone gets unhooked. They do this so the Killer can make the BP and Emblem advancement earned by virtue of risk. The Killer might not respond to this Dinner Bell, but the option must be there. I am pointing the Dinner Bell out because it underscores that Camping and Tunneling are not accidental nor unintended consequences, but rather the chances and gambles Players on both sides take in playing the game. That is also who so many Killers, Perks, and Add-on(s) seem DESIGNED for ambush tactics. Variety is the spice of life and they do not want the game reduced to a ritualized looping dance anymore than they would want it reduced to ONLY Tunneling and Camping.
- Maps play a part too, in that some Killers who can't get around fast must make realistic choices about what they can and cannot do. A Spirit doesn't care about a big map, but a Myers does. How realistic is it for you to expect a Myers to promise you three hooks and never going after the same person twice (regardless of what the Survivor is doing)? Different Killers interact with different maps as the situation demands.
- SWF is a thing. It is always the elephant in the room. I see a lot of the SAME names in this thread moaning and groaning about Tunneling and Camping but I never see you talking about SWF and its 5th Perk (Comms). Why is that? You do realize that some Killers choose to Camp and Tunnel, or rather are forced to do so, because of SWF tactics right? The single most effective counter play to the 5th Perk (Comms) is to make the intelligence it provides moot. When you aren't moving around much it is harder for different people to get eyes on you. When they can't coordinate their movements and baiting you around, that aspect of their organization is gone. In addition, taking a 4v1 using Comms down to a 3v1 as rapidly as possible is often the only way to level the playing field. Pretending otherwise is being dishonest. When I see you being serious about mitigating the effect of SWF on the game, perhaps I'll take these threads as something other than hypocritical.
- There are rules, they are known. The tactics you are complaining about are legal and valid. Thus all this noise is really just an attempt to shame and grief Players, and affect the match from outside the match. What does that say about you?
- Every attempt to punish/prevent Camping and Tunneling, and I do mean EVERY SINGLE ONE, in the past has been hideously abused by Survivors. It was so bad that the DEV more or less gave up on it. Think about what that means in application; there are FOUR Survivors and thus the temptation to abuse and exploit any restraint placed on the Killer is 4x as likely. When the Killer Tunnels or Camps it is still entirely in the hands of Survivors as to how they will handle it. That is a key difference. Are there ways to change the game to resolve Tunneling and Camping which are equitable? Yes, but the game won't even remotely resemble what it is now. You would kill the Goose that laid the golden egg. You would throw the baby out with the bathwater. Get over it.

As a Lucky Break user, I can tell you that it's one of the strongest perks in the game. People haven't been using it because they're breathtakingly ignorant.
I've used it, quite a bit actually. I think it is serviceable but hardly the strongest Perk in the game. I used it for about a week extensively and it cycled right back out of my list because it wasn't a consistent enough return for me. Hyperbole doesn't serve anyone. I don't think it is worthless, but I sure as heck don't think it is one of the strongest Perks in the game. :)
-
Leave the corn alone. The new maps are great and the corn affect on LOS is a very challenging (and different) experience from other maps. Variety is the spice of life.
-
I didn't see a problem with it as originally envisioned at the longest time. I also didn't see a problem with it at sixty seconds and I said as much. People whose opinions have more weight than mine clearly dominated. My view of things was (and still remains) shaking up the Meta from time to time is good, so I'm less adverse to risking that. This viewpoint is why I'm not at all concerned, looking forward to in fact, the new RE map. It is very different from any other map we have. Good. There are a ton of Perks that need to be reworked, but I suspect some of the hesitancy has to do with the spaghetti code. What we think of as simple changes are often far more involved.
There was a missed opportunity with Lucky Break, and I hope they fix it.

How is NoED still a thing that exists? Facecamped by losers with noed 3 times and abandoned by my team on 1st hook. Nothing feels worse than a second chance perk that rewards bad play and screws over 1 person.
Rework DH when NoED is removed so bad killers stop getting pity kills.
Heh. This doesn't really belong here. But point in fact, NOED doesn't reward bad Killer play; it punishes bad Survivor Play. The Killer played one Perk down the ENTIRE match (thus giving something tangible up) gambling that for a short bit of time they will have some end game clout. Everybody knows this basic, general Killer Perk is out there. Everyone knows when it will trigger, how to prevent it from triggering, how to turn back off if it does trigger, and so on. There are Killers that start the match with Insta-Down and have it for the entire game. There are tons of ways to get it which are MORE efficient than NOED. I don't want to go any further down this tangent than you and I have already gone, but NOED punishes BAD Survivors. It only rewards the Killer if you choose to allow it.

There's insta down play potential but it has counterplay. Just hold W. It's more for loop trapping. Really no different than the zombies for nemesis so i don't think that's too strong..
I never come on the forums tbh. Just made the account today and wanted to share what i made. Cool that you have a leprechaun one tho. I wanted him in but could never figure how he'd fit (Especially around loops. Just too short..)
Leprechaun and Chucky would have to play differently, like a Spooky Myers. They would have to be more about ambush and intercept. For Leprechaun I wanted him to have the ability to teleport through Lockers AND create illusions of breakable walls to confuse Survivors. I wanted to do Sam from Trick'R'Treat and have him able to crawl on the ceiling and walls to drop on people. Most of the short and slower would have to have alternate methods and tricks. I always saw Chucky as having his Bride (full-sized wife still) and like the Twins being a team.
For the Cenobites from Hellraiser I thought that their main power would be that no matter what hook you got put on, a cool animation happens and you are ported into the Basement. :)

As survivor:
- Stealthy
- Cleansing totems when I see them
- Unhooking and healing survivors when I can (i.e.: when I'm near them)
- Repairing generators
- Trying to lead the killer away from "populated areas"
I was going to write out my style, but saw Orion and I are kindred spirits so I was lazy and quoted him. This is pretty much me in a nutshell. As a Killer I'm all about the mind game. That is probably why I prefer Spooky Myers, Trapper, Hag, and Demogorgon (he actually has some great mind game play).
-
This is not unlike a suggestion I made for either Chucky or Leprechaun (if we ever get either). It seemed very appropriate for a Leprechaun to use magic to travel through Lockers. The Insta-Down aspect wasn't something I suggested (might be too potent). I suggested being Undetectable for a short period of time.

Those are not political people but trolls.
probably people that are against LGBT Q+ that want to prove that it was a mistake to add the charm. I don’t see how any one who actually supports the LGBTQ+ community would behave like that.
You would think that but I've already had a couple of matches with people well-known in the community here, and out. I've already been accused of tunneling them for their charm. I can't name and shame them, but it happens. Sexual preference has no affect on someone being salty or a bad sport. Bad sports will look for any excuse they can to convince themselves (and others) that the fault was external.
Hell, I wore the charm the other day and even I got a little hot under the collar when a Leatherface kept running me down and putting me back in the basement. Part of me started to wonder and think it must be the charm; this guy is bigot. Funny thing is, I had swapped Survivor Skins to do a Rift and had forgotten that. Most of my Survivors have all the same unlocked Perks (the ones I used most often). I was about to start accusing the guy, and realized I wasn't even wearing it.
My point is that I work VERY hard to be self aware, and keep from being tilted. When you have a bad game and everything starts to go south, even the most disciplined of us looks for excuses. We are all human, and sadly that nasty ego side is always looking for a scapegoat. We just got a new one added to the list we can use, so naturally the ego wants to take it out for a test spin.

Literally a better power than most killers'. Most killers I would prefer to have Dead Hard than their actual power.
It exists because there is nothing wrong with the Perk. I fight against people with Dead Hard all the time and get my 3K+ on a regular basis. Dead Hard is usually the least of my worries. You will learn to counter play it.

No, the map is fine as it is for now. If they want to change a map, Haddonfield comes to mind. This one will need about six months minimum before it should even be considered for a looking at. Fair enough, but I think wearing it and/or displaying it on your hook is what most would want. I know I'd be mad as hell if I thought you only gave me the hatch because of my charm.

I get that. I also don’t want to see people talking down on LGBTQ+ topics in a video game forum. But I have to endure those as well. I can’t really do anything against that.
but… you can just not click on the dedicated threads, you know? I want to take part in these discussions, and the devs of this video game are caring about this topic and are including stuff like the charm into their game so it has actually a place here.
I care about the topic too. Instead of this beautiful thing, a step forward now we are jumping at shadows and people keep posting that they are being tunneled and camped because of their charm. This is why we can't have nice things. You and I both know that those same people were saying they were being tunneled and camped last week for no reason at all. We also know that perhaps one in a hundred people might be targeted because of the charm. Nearly everyone has it. I have it. Basically, a nice step has been turned into yet another cesspool of excuses and annoyance.
If someone is a bigot and a jerk, I'm going to call them on it. I'm going to get in their way. If I see people spoiling for a fight, using the charm as a way to get it, I'm going to get in their way too.

So in all my time of playing engame collapse has done something like 7 or 8 times, and only after rank reset because redranks just 99 the door and defeat the purpose of the endgame collapse. I really feel like it needs a change so that it can do what it was supposed to do, push the survivors out and force tough decisions. The only way I could think this would work is if you either made exit gates like totems that need to be completed in one go (which is way too powerful and could easily be abused by trapper) or to extend the endgame collapse time and make it start the minute the last generator is completed. I think the latter would make it better but it still feels like it could be abused. I feel it is just not accomplishing what its supposed to, and there has never been a time where it would have been strategically beneficial to open the gate myself as killer. so I just don't get why its basically pointless. What do you think?
In all your time playing? What is that exactly? :)

It is just different. It can be played by any Killer. Myers is my guy and if I can navigate that monster and compete, so can you. My advice is rote memorization of the core, unchanging parts of the map. Learn the short cuts and ways to cut people off by going the long way around.

its BHVR we are talking about a change that they don't specify usually means something bad
My educated guess is that they will follow the precedent for Pyramid Head's built in Mori. Ideally, the requirements for each Killer should be unique, but we shall see. In other words, there will be several in game hurdles and once you have crossed them, you can Mori a target. For Pyramid Head I believe he can Mori you if you have been tainted with his barbed wire and you are on 2nd Stage. Something like that, I don't play PH.

I am not having fun with dbd. Here's why
killers dont get any sort of punishment for playing unfairly. things such as camping and tunneling are normalized yet its a "ranked game". and any sort of survivor rebuttal such as disconnecting from a round gives survivor an automatic temporary ban from the game. games that are ranked should be purely focused around skill. it is not skill to camp or tunnel because theres physically nothing a survivor can do other than rely on a survivor saving them with perks such as borrowed time. yet a survivor can only defend up to 4 toxic killer traits at once (because you're only able to equip 4 perks before a round) and even with perks to rebuttal against these, you still need perks in order to help you with chases, fixing generators, spotting the killer, etc. one of the simplest concepts dbd could implement (but refuses) would be to make survivors die slower on the hook the closer the killer is to the hooked body, but die faster, the further away a killer is from the body. now obviously this wouldnt work against every killer e.g. the nurse because she has the ability to teleport across the map in an instant. but it wouldn't be a bad idea still.
another issue that ive mentioned is the ban after disconnecting, half the times ive disconnected from the game was a steam or dead by daylight related issue. they werent annoying at first (since it was only a 5 minute ban) but if you get disconnected twice, it goes to 15 minutes, a third time 30 mins, 4th 1 hour, a fifth 6 hours, etc. but it doesnt matter if you play 7 rounds after disconnecting the first time, if you disconnect a 2nd time like 7 games later, youll still get the 15 minute ban, then the 30 minutes, etc. even if you wait the next DAY to play again youll still get the 6 hour ban if you disconnect again. so therefore, with the more frustration this game has brought me than fun, i have decided to uninstall dead by daylight.
I feel for you; nobody wants you to suffer. If you aren't having fun, let me kindly point you to the door. The day I stop having fun, I will likewise seek my bliss elsewhere. It seems you are there already. Other people are not going to cater to you nor is the game going to change for you. Thus, based on what you said... it is time to....

I want to add onto this, some rocks you can climb (or could climb) are literally on a loop, meaning that if the killer goes up on it the survivors cant loop around that rock anymore as the killer can just drop down from it if they get near the pallet.
Excellent point; I'm glad you added that.

Non of the rocks are tall enough to effect survivors
Again, which rocks are bothering you and why? Even if the fall isn't enough to hinder them (and it doesn't take much) the Killer dropping from above still has an optimal hit box.
-
Why would this bother you? In general, if the Survivors can go up, so can the Killer. The Killer benefits from any drop because he/she is less affected by falling and can usually hit coming down taking full advantage of the hit box from the up to down angle. Can you be more specific which of the rocks are bothering you and why? I know the rock wall behind the chalet at the Ormond is regularly ascended by Survivors (or was for a bit). Which map and what part of it put sand in your shoes?

I'm infuriated. Just had a 35 minutes match with Huntress that should have ended on the first 5 minutes. The survivors were awful, none of them could stay alive for 5 seconds, most of them got hooked several times, they wouldn't heal and they didn't do a single gen. They even refused to unhook each other until last minute or would let people die on hook for no reason at all since i wasn't even nearby.
But they used a hatch offering in the main building. So what happens, I kill 2 guys, I hook the 3rd guy, find the 4th and hook him in the main building where the hatch is. 3rd guy Kobes, 4th guy dies, hatch spawns. Ok, I stand on top of the hatch since the guy who kobed is on the other side of the map (that asarov's map that's super long) camping the door right next to him, which I can't get there fast.
Game goes on for 30 minutes, the dude refuses to leave that door and I get bored, so I closed it. I walk towards that door, as a 110% speed killer, boom, door already open and I get t-bagged by a guy who couldn't do a single gen.
I have to spend hours upon hours to "git gud", specially as huntress, the hatchets I hit in that match were amazing. And what do I get as reward? A 35 minutes match and a loss. And it's not the first time this kind of thing happens to me. I should have just went to watch a movie since the dude had 5 gens to do by himself and no intention of doing them.
This game sucks. Worst part his entire team was watching him and started to trash talk him in the end game chat since the dude did nothing but let everyone die the whole game. Yet what happens? He won.
Very cool BHVR, no wonder your killer queues are so long, have fun with your new flash grenades, autoban system and "moris are toxic so we'll remove them".

Hey everyone,
Probably a stupid question here, but I’m very new to the game (got it like last week but I’ve been playing a lot and ranking up fast), and I’ve been watching the forums and subreddit for a while now and I read a LOT of posts about toxic/mean survivors. So, to kinda combat or balance out the ######### people, I’ve been trying to send every killer I play against a nice message. I’m not able to message everyone since I’m on console, so when I can’t do that I try to friend them to show that I like/appreciate them.
My question for the forum is; Do killers enjoy being nicely messaged and/or befriended?
I’m doing it to try to spread positivity, but if it’s actually just annoying or an inconvenience to people I’ll have to reconsider.
Some context info:
sometimes killers message me back and then they’re always nice, but mostly they don’t reply.
I send messages like: “Thanks for the game! :)” Or “You really steamrolled us hahah. Good job!”
Killers are just Players (and most play both Killer and Survivor). Most people, well-adjusted, like good manners and courtesy. I appreciate any kind, or at least polite, words. I like to thank my opponents for the game and say something nice myself after a match, win or lose.
If you run across someone being snide or salty, or somehow triggered when you are nice, just ignore it and assume that maladjusted person or someone having a bad day who decided to take it out on you. Such people are the minority and it is best to just let that stuff bounce off and move on.

hello everyone, i am a new player i got dbd about 3 weeks ago and i am just wondering how people think this game is survivor sided? killer seems way easier and way stronger than survivors
That's because you are new. :) Think of DbD as a see-saw with ONE Survivor sitting on one end, and a huge, scary Killer on the other. The other Survivors are just milling about near the see-saw. Naturally everything is weighted to the big scary Killer. Then as the other Survivors start to figure out what they are doing they start getting on the end of the see-saw one by one until all four are there and the Killer is now in the air wondering what the heck happened. Those four outweigh him, and in fact have more potential for all sorts of things.
Killers have one job and they don't have to rely on anyone. Thus, newbie Killers have an easier time than newbie Survivors. Things change. :) The strength of Survivors in their ability to be four places at once where the Killer can only be in one place (well most of them). The balance is overall, not at each level. Thus there is this MASSIVE stat pool which takes into account everyone's metrics at all levels, and overall things average out about where the DEV want them, and if not, they tweak. The only balance is in the Bell Curve, not individual matches or Ranks.
-
This is a hard question. For pure entertainment value I prefer Monto. For pure education value I like Otz. For right between the two of them, I like Stalky Boi. :)
-
It isn't a terrible idea. Legion's name is kind of deceptive. A rewrite in mechanics and slightly tweak the Lore would be as follows:
The crew of four misfit losers have been taken by the Entity as a group. One of them becomes imbued with dark power and the others assist. *Hence, a rework so that one of them is a standard Killer, and the Power is the three other Flunkies, basically Bots like the Zombies but a bit faster and smarter. Legion's power would be the ability to command them, i.e. go to a location and use a command that will call one of the Flunkies over to guard that area. Until commanded to guard an area, they roam.
I don't see this ever happening but it would be an interesting twist and make their damn name make sense.

From what I saw in KYF, they spawn at opposite ends of the map. This means that 3 would cover a large portion of the map. 5 would just be impossible to play against. Don't forget, they're attracted to noise and can only be temporarily destroyed with a pallet.
True, but I still think a third one would be good, and not OP. Perhaps one of the Red Offerings (I recall one was good and one sucked). Perhaps they could make the sucky one +1 Zombie instead. :)

For my own part, when I destroy a team like that I try to say something nice by jumping to the GLHF in your next matches, and compliment something I saw in the match (there is always something) that was done well. I've run into the anger at a GG before too, and I never mean them in a taunting way either. I'm not a nice guy, but I was raised to always shake your opponent's hand at the end of a game and thank them and/or say "good game" as a matter of manners.

If the survivors were infected, that'd certainly be a neat mechanic, but then I'd reduce the starting number of zombies to 1. Maybe even 0.
I don't know if that would be necessary, the two are pretty darn tame. Worst case scenario it gets up to (5) if you are the last Survivor left. If spawning more from dead Survivors is problematic for the code, I wish they had some add-on(s) that increased their number. Perhaps a Purple that added one more, and a red that added two.

Eh.
To be fair, messaging them with a "gg :)" (especially with a smile added) when they did not manage to complete a single Generator sounds like you wanted to trigger them. Because it clearly was not a good game on their part, otherwise they would not lose with 5 Gens up. Which was probably also your intention, given the fact how they behaved ingame.
I don't know about that; Pulsar seems to be a chronic do-gooder. :) I means that in an envious, I wish I was that nice, kind of way. He probably just gives them a GG with a smiley face as a matter of course.

I think (2) is fine to start but I think whenever a Survivor is killed a Zombie version of them should be added increasing the total number.
