As Killer, How Can I better avoid Pallet Stuns?
My map knowledge is pretty limited, I'm not familiar with any of the maps as a survivor or a killer, and I'm getting my **** slapped every like 5 seconds with like 3-4 pallet drops per chase. Like right now I feel like I'm in a lose lose situation as Legion because sure I can pallet slide... if the pallet is down, AND if the survivor actually drops it behind them before I get to it. Usually all survivors just sit and wait and drop it right on my poor little head and I get stunned, and normally I just break the pallet so I can avoid it in the future. IDK why the game is putting me up against Rank 10s when I myself am just a rank 20 killer, like... i'm not even sure how my own perks work yet lol.
Am I just being a fool by even playing legion? He's fun and all but against anyone who has a remote clue what they're doing this is a nightmare. Like I can use any of the perks legion is supposed to have because survivors arent dropping the pallets pre-emptively, and they know the map way better than I do so half the time I don't even see a pallet ahead of me, and if im mid-frenzy the goal is to GET to the survivor, not hang back far enough so I can make sure the pallet is dropped so I can slide over it like my perk allows me to.
Any tips would be appreciated, even if its "just dont play legion" (which makes me sad I like him/her) but honestly im not sure what to do. the last game all the survivors were such extreme bullies to me lol

The matchmaking system is a busted up piece of flaming garbage. Don't worry, when you reach rank 15 you'll start facing ranks 1s, 2s, and 3s. But don't worry, apparently the simple solution to facing people who completely outrank and skill you is "git gud". Just saying it now before someone else comes in and says it.
IMO Legion is one of the weakest killers in the game. I recommend running Enduring (a teachable Hillbilly perk) and Spirit Fury (a teachable Spirit perk) on them, or just Enduring because they're a basic M1 killer for downing survivors.
Also, respecting pallets (hesitating a pallet to avoid a stun) if they're unsafe is a very smart move. Just be careful to not fall for fakes, I guess.
And yeah, you're allowed to play whoever you want :) I like playing Trickster because I find him fun and love his laughs, even if people say "just play Huntress/Slinger." Or people not wanting you to play Spirit because she's stupid OP even if you find her fun, y'know.
I hope you get fairer matches eventually!
thanks for the insight :) i have trickster as well, i might have to give him a chance maybe his throwing knives will help me from getting bonked so much lol map awareness is definitely gonna come in handy to know where those sneaky pallets are, i was getting looped SO HARD by this one girl in a bunny hoodie it was so hard not to be salty
i figured anything i post would be accompanied with a few "git guds" lol, so im here asking how to git gud. im seeing already there are WAY more survivors than killers, finding a match as killer takes all of 2 seconds wheras survivor i got a good 5 minutes to chill. and the killers that are out there are REALLY good, so i gotta getter better somewhere! at least it seems ill get a lot more play time as killer, whereas survivor i usually got tunneled and only last 2-3 min lol
if you want to play Legion you need a very good understanding about mindgames and how to optimized chases.
If you don't they are very bad.
Once you do they are a very decent and massivelly underrated killer that can snowball really fast.
Other then that general things apply. Don't overcommit to chases.
Don't fatigue in front of healthy survivors. If you feel like you can't reach them in one frenzy. End your power manually and walk to them normally. Your power will be back when you get there
Learn to use the information Frenzy gives you. Even knowing nobody is in your terror radius is helpfull information
As for perks Enduring is good for the problem your having. I wouldn't run spirit fury unless you run the addon that breaks pallets by vaulting
Embrace the pallet stuns. Swing through them a lot, and if they're just sitting at the pallet, end your lunge JUST as they're within lunge distance. This can mean that when they vacuum back to the pallet to drop it, they teleport into your hitbox and take a hit.
whoa! tysm! this is awesome advice! im really loving legion and i didnt wanna give up on them too soon, ty so much for this!
ooo this is a really good tip! im so new im still learning how my attack even works (i didnt know i could hold the button and actually lunge) no wonder killers were reaching me from so far away! as a survivor i was like "omg does everyone ahve like a 6foot reach!?" lol
It'd a bit of long topic, because it would have to include bloodlust and perks in it.
The short version is that if the pallet is unsafe (it's connected to structures on its sides that cover a short distance), the survivor needs to stun you. Which in turn means that in general you can respect and, when you're at opposite sides of the loop, then with a quick fake going one way and then doubling back you can often get within lunge range.
If the pallet is safe (it has at least one long side). Then you're better off not respecting unless you have a good read on how the survivor plays (i.e. does this survivor throw pallets early? do they run through them often? do they look behind themselves to track your position? Etc.).
Lastly, as you go against increasingly better players, you should stray away from doing the same thing over and over.
Map knowledge is essential in this game, the more you play more you will get used to pallet locations. Also you don't have to worry about every single pallet, it's only a problem getting stunned by unsafe pallets since it's actually beneficial for you if survivors leave after stunning you with a safe pallet.
Enduring is nice because it makes stuns pretty meaningless, it can be nice on legion too if you can bait them into stunning you our of frenzy once you've got some stabs in which is much quicker than the fatigue
This is your best answer to your question.
Oni's perk Zanshin Tactics is good for learning pallet and window locations, it lets you see them through walls at a certain distance. Also if you didn't know you can unlock people's unique perks on other people's bloodweb if you get them to a certain level
For example when you get Oni to level 30 an orange "teachable" version of Zanshin Tactics will appear on his bloodweb, and if you get it, from that point forward Zanshin Tactics has a chance to appear on any other killer's bloodweb like a regular perk would. Same goes for all characters' unique/teachable perks
right now my biggest issue is keeping pressure on the survivors it seems. my frenzy seems to have more draw backs than it does perks, wheras some killer abilities let them instant-down a character, for me it makes it literally impossible for me to down someone. so my ability lets me chase--without the help of scratch marks--and if i manage to dodge all pallets i get 1 hit on a survivor, but then i get 4 seconds of blindness and nerfed movement, then i gotta chase them down again anyway. legion may be beyond my skill set :( i was getting a lot fo really good tips but idk if im good enough to enact them
Well, lots of people have given you advice, but I would say that pallet stuns are hardly the end of the world. Take them often and early and clear those pallets out. Respecting the pallet will often cause you to miss a hit or a down. I can't tell you how many times I've downed a wounded survivor and just had to ride out the stun before picking them up. Stuns late in game, particularly during the EGC are a stake through the heart, but early on they are just part of the job. In fact, I am more than happy to get that stun to break up problematic tiles which will allow me to defend the Generators in that area easier.
If Stuns bother you that much, look into the Perks that let you have shorter stuns or smashing through pallets faster. But overall, I would say don't worry about them so much.
im honestly fine with getting a stun, i was just looking for a way to minimize my mistakes lol. i wanna be able to utilize legions ability to slide over pallets and chase victims but if they dont drop the pallet soon enough its like... well darn lol. so im trying to figure out how to navigate better as a legion but so far im super struggling lol
To answer your questions, first off about the pallet. You have some options, if you don't want to get stunned, bait it. Walk towards the pallet and then step back just as you get close, bad survivors will throw it down anyways (since you're playing legion, if it's a healthy survivor you can use your power to slide over the downed pallet and get the injure). Another one is pretend to walk around the pallet, take a view steps while looking around the pallet, then quickly come back while swinging in the hopes of hitting the survivor before they can throw down the pallet they're camping.
As for Legion, based on what you're saying, you're playing him wrong. Legion's power isn't about downing survivors, it's about applying pressure. With some exceptions, you don't want to hit the same survivor twice while within your frenzy, as it will often times just lead you stunning yourself with no gain. When you see a healthy survivor, go into frenzy and hit them, if other survivors are within your terror radius, you'll hear it and start seeing this spider-wed like symbol. That means a survivors over there and you'll want to hit them, everytime you hit a new survivor your frenzy bar resets, allowing you the time to hit more survivors. Ideally, you do this until all four healthy survivors are injured in one frenzy, after which you end your power and then start chasing (though this will rarely happen as survivors want to spread out to counter it). Legion is very hit and run in his gameplay, forcing survivors to heal themselves instead of doing gens.
ahh i see, i think thats my problem there too. im not playing him in his play style. im still new to killer overall and ive only played legion, pyramid head, and a little bit of michael and trickster. ill try to chain more like you said. i wanna give my survivors at least something exciting, so far its just me giving myself a headache from failing to use my frenzy properly xD
You have the right attitude about it, and you ask questions. I've faith you will get to where you want to be in short order. There are no shortcuts, no silver bullet or secret equations. This game (both as Killer and Survivor) is driven by the basics, nothing more and nothing less. It just takes countless hours in the field to hone your skills. Intellectually all the information you need is available. The best Players in the game (and some bad ones too) make videos, write articles, and stream/podcasts/etc. all the time. The problem is that while the information is good, the only way to internalize it is practice, lots of practice. Good advice can cut a little time off your journey, but overall you will just have to log the hours.
In regards to Legion, you will find that a lot of Players are stingy with the Pallets, particularly if you are using your power. While in Feral Frenzy you can only give them Deep Wounds but will not down them. Good Survivors KNOW this and don't really see the point in dropping the Pallet and wasting it unless they are going to get a stun. The best ones won't drop it at all. The really good ones know that dropping it just lets you (with the right add-on) slide over it and break it with them getting no benefit whatsoever. Do you see my point? I doubt you are doing anything wrong, but rather many of your opponents are doing everything right. Part of being a good Killer is making others pay for mistakes; if they aren't making any obvious ones, you will have to finesse them into some.
