It's a really common word where I'm from. I can confirm that Google is correct - it is pronounced my-ther!

    Thx for the info.

i guess it being regional makes sense :)

  • It isn’t even a normal/well known English word for native speakers?

i googled it and from what I have found it’s supposed to be my-ther. Also called it that because of Samination I think? Definitely heard it somewhere like that.

  • I guess i gotta go with Piggy getting stunned. So cute.

  • But.. Death Metal Jeff and Scientidt Claudette already exist as normal skins?

  • Make this darkness part of a killers power like in my concept (could easily work for an original killer or another license as well.. Darkness Falls?) ;)

    @Mooks said:

This is a Suggestion for a licensed killer from the survival game Don’t Starve Together by Klei:

Charlie, also known as The Darkness

She is a main antagonist of the game and is the one killing you in the darkness, its why you need some source of light, no other protection or way to fight back is given to the survivors in this game, even though they have weapons against monsters and such.

    Ability:

With her terror-radius, it‘s darker for the survivors, making it harder to see the killer (who is pretty much all black) and obstacles etc. You don’t see the darkness coming and the killer sees everything in normal lighting.

Charlie can make the whole map dark for a while (this will have a cool-down of course). During this she takes the form of Shadow-Charlie in which she is significantly faster. In this darkness she can only attack survivors that are not near a lightsource. Those are the firebarrels and a new item, a torch. The torch can be obtained only during the match at special stations (like plaques fountains or pigs jigsaw boxes). A torch stays lit for a duration of one darkness cycle and can’t be taken with you out of a game. You can’t hold another item with the torch though. (You can also stay hidden or near a barrel for protection if you don’t want to leave your item somewhere).

EDIT: The torch will function like Nemesis' vaccines and Pinheads box (both introduced after i made this concept); additionally i made a concept of a new survivor item (Lighter) which will protect the surv as well if he uses it (losing charges while using it)

In the shadow-form, Charlie can be attacked with a flashlight, similar to the burn of Wraith and Nurse you don’t need to shine into the face, but shine at her for a small duration of time. This can end the darkness-cycle sooner but is also risky because you can not have a torch equipped and Charlie is very fast in this mode.

    Weapon: Shadow Hand

Can be used as a normal Weapon or as a long-range weapon. When activated as for long-range, Charlie stays in place and the hand moves forward, attacking a survivor or missing the hit will lead to going back to the killer. While using the long-range-mode, the hand moves with a smaller hitbox and thus moves faster around obstacles and through vaults. Survivors can also cancel this mode by running through the „arm“ of the shadow hand, the connection between killer and the hand.

I haven’t thought about perks yet, maybe I will add them later or you can discuss which perks you want to see for Charlie or general from Don’t starve for killers and survivors.

For a chapter, a survivor can be added as well. Easiest choice would be Wilson, enough skin potential is there from the skins in the game. Other characters wouldn’t make much sense because of the special traits and perks, maybe Winona? I would like to see Wickerbottom but the Insomnia would make no sense going against Freddy I guess!

So let me know what you think about my Charlie idea and discuss possible perks!

edit: The second power of my killer was meant to be somewhat like what shortly came after with the Deathslinger: pulling the survivor to you and other survivors are able to help, i guess its different enough though to still be possible as an ability in the future of DbD

Some of my other concepts (Feedback and suggestions always welcome):

Killers: The Ice Queen, Hannibal, Charlie(The Darkness), The Blair Witch, The Firebreather, The Photographer

Survivors: Aria Morrison, Lukas Schmidt, Paitoon Saeli

Survivor Items: Lighter, Water Bottle, Pocket Knife, Sling Shot, Spray Paint Cans, Salt Pouch, Smoke Bomb, Voodoo Doll, Smudge Sticks

Game mechanics: Horror tropes, Expanded survivor objectives, Exhaustion Rework, Spiderwebs

  • It definitely adds the 1% per token bonus to the default bonus.

So yes, Perk on Tier 3 and 3 tokens will result in 4 % bonus.

For Stake Out I am not sure. I think you get the 1% bonus only if you consume a token on a good skillcheck. If you hit a great, you don’t get anything but you won’t lose a Stake out token. So I would assume it’s still 4% in that case.

I mean, yeah, that is what makes it a rip off. Your personal definition aside. We are on public forums where mostly everyone else uses the standard definition of words and phrases. Lol.

I.. thought the definition was that there needs to be some kind of fraud. Sorry, not a native speaker.

why not just use the word overpriced, rip-off sound to me like something out of the customers hands? Well.. gues I learned something new. (English is weird)

  • Guess I have another definition for rip-off then. It’s really just overpriced IMO. No actual fraud in any capacity as everything can be seen by the customer

  • @Rey_512 said:

Classic Ghost Face Mask is the biggest ripoff in the game.

But no one is tricked into buying it? Everyone can view it in the store beforehand and decide if they want to spend money on it or not..

  • Classic GF is 900 for me.

you sure it’s not 200 for you because you already have some pieces? The mask alone would be 200..

Cant you only save 1million BP?

I mean I have roughly 800k (always do for new content drops, get the last 200k a day before)

And I have challenges saved from level 4 in this tome. Am I missing other ways? Like a BP code or something I can save?

You can only save up to 1M BP. But of there are BP gifts from codes or even challenges I think and rank reset that can exceed the 1M.

you could also save up 3 dailys. BP codes are always time limited so it’s best to immediately use. And there are currently none that I know of

  • Yeah I mentioned him.

i haven’t taken the pant off for him so I wouldn’t forget ;)

  • A sequel would mean some of the stuff won’t make it over, primarily licensed characters but probably also original stuff. I don’t want to miss that.

also it would split up the player base as some would still resort to playing the current game.

i think the best option is to optimize and enrich the current game. But with some more risky overhauls regarding gameplay and more resources put into quality assurance.

She has one! The Deathgarden mask; it's her only good cosmetic because it covers her face 🥰

But I like Meg. Kinda. I like her lore and such. And if I would wanna wear a mask I would take the Snoot.

I do enjoy watching her get slammed by Nemesis against a car as well though.

  • Even though Meg has already tons of cosmetics I still would love to see a blighted skin. Especially since I still hope for a good head cosmetic for her with her natural hair color.

  • I love it when survivors grunts of pain are so delayed that I hear them directly right of me but I see them already one loop further ahead :)

but yeah, sounds on both sides are very unreliable and it would be nice to see more improvements here.

    Addendum

We’re thrilled to see such a positive reaction to the first part of this Developer Update! We have a small update to something we announced in Part 1: Unfortunately, due to time constraints and the size of this mid-chapter, the change to The Spirit which would cause her to kick up dust while phasing needed to be pushed until further notice. The directional audio will be in the mid-chapter PTB as planned.

We’ve seen some mixed feedback to the dust change specifically, so we will monitor feedback closely from the PTB and subsequent release to see if this change is ultimately necessary.

    Here is the official statement

  • Bumping this to say thank you

(this actually deserved to be pinned like your other summary threads..)

also I just now saw someone posted donkey any cow here already, so I have a duplicate in that other thread :(

Hmm first time I am hearing this. Maybe I should check ingame store lol.

Its possible I already seen these skins but as you said, if they arent really standing out like killer blighted outfits, I may have considered them as normal skins

Well they have the blighted goo and due to them being so old-fashioned they do kinda stand out. At least if you pay attention. I actually like most of them at least some of the pieces.

  • @ShinobuSK said:

Are survivors getting blighted skins too? I thought its just for killers

They are not as distorted, just ‚older‘-styled clothes with blight stuff on them.

the first batch were Claudette and Dwight I think? Jake got an Outfit the second year. Yui, David and Felix also have some, probably more? Was that Feng outfit blighted?

  • Have enough saved on the tome challenges and i will probably not spent everything I earn until she releases.

but I did not think about the event items. I like to have everything on all chars but I also don’t want to Prestige when a char has valuable offerings/items still on them. What to do? (Well firstly other new chars need the Halloween stuff obviously… and I had Jill and Leon ready for the anniversary event after all..)

  • People like to forget old Nurse, BNPs, Syringes, SelfCare, actual Infinites etc.

there was so much broken stuff in the game. Not even talking about the many QoL changes. Just think about Hatch standoff. (Which could actually be funny but generally were just bad)

the Game changed for the better. It’s not perfect by any means and there are blatant problems that need to be adressed. But they actually do that, just very slowly (see Hatch/key changes in current PTB)

They're misleading and there is 100 posts about "unfair" matchmaking when ash killer plays against iri survivors etc. There is no point of showing them. better replace them with character portrait

I like the idea to use character portraits!

would give another use for the killer portraits as they are not used in a match and I don’t have to look in the settings who played which char (I usually don’t display names in the matches..)

They used to be good when they did the old developer livestreams. Now its just, "we can't talk about that right now" or some vague answer.

To be fair, many questions we know they can’t/won’t answer get asked and highly upvoted. Something like cross progress for all platforms. We know the answer to that. They already stated it. If there is an update on it they will announce it.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

looked at the "Top" questions. first 9 of them since that's how many would fit on a screenshot.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7WUDW6LED994/image.png

Of these top 9, green represents a technical question, teal a grind question, aqua a balance question, and fuscia a different type of question.

Of these 2 questions on balance, one is advocating for a survivor nerf (from PTB to live, so not really a nerf, but they want boon totems to be toned down/hex totems to be buffed), and the other is asking which characters will recieve add-on passes next.

    How incredibly survivor sided.

(I did it for the next 9 as well... nothing survivor sided).

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/RKRY8VNCI12X/image.png

How dare you bring up reasonable facts after such a statement??

  • just a guess here.

i have featured Laurie and Shape, throw grayed out since I got every character. Every char released before those are free in base game iirc.

could it be that Jane is the first survivor (chronologically released) that you haven’t purchased?

And for killers you have every char already purchased so it features the first purchasable char but grayed out?

  • Claudette. Will always have a soft spot for her because i really like her backstory and appearance. She was also the first surv I played as.

i generally like the whole cast though, Adam and Kate are up there as my favorites as well.

  • looking forward to it

many perk updates which should be standard for midchapters, Built to Last i expect to be toned down a bit. Boon totems seem interesting but i also expect some nerf to their current state.

Killer changes i mostly see as healthy, though i am not sure on DS aiming.. didnt try it out on PTB..

  • I have found the answer myself.

  • All of them of course.

but voting for NoES because I want more cosmetics available for them :)

  • You can’t stop killers to do it. Matchmaking and general game balance are still making really unfair matches for killers and tunneling one out fast is significantly raising the chance to do well or at least get one kill.

ask the devs to balance the game more fairly - for all skill levels, not only for low skill or high skill.

  • At this point I wouldn’t really expect it for Sony and Microsoft platforms.

  • @Pulsar said:

    I'll put them into tiers.

Tier 1 is going to be Killers that have more potential and/or are easier to master on PC. Tier 2 are Killers that have some advanced techs that are only available for PC players, but their overall gameplay is not majorly affected. Tier 3 are Killers that I feel are not affected much by PC to Console differences. There are no specific rankings within each tier.

So, without further ado, in Tier 1 we have the following Killers:

    TIER I

Nurse ~ Nurse can be played on Console, but my God is she a nightmare. The constant freezing and lag, not to mention her many bugs, hold her back considerably. Likewise, she cannot flick on Console, which is a massive drawback. Combine all of these things with the drastically lower FPS, and you have a recipe for absolute disaster.

Trickster ~ Trickster is an absolute nightmare on Console. His recoil is so difficult to compensate for and his aiming is just abysmal. He is walking proof of why Console needs response curve settings like almost every other game has.

Blight ~ Blight isn't as bad as he used to be. He can flick, sort of, and you can definitely get good value from him. However, you aren't ever going to be able to compete with PC Blights. They are going to be able to flick when bouncing, and you just can't do that on Console. This makes his plays at loops much more difficult due to the slower turn rate and when combined with the low FPS, it can be a thoroughly unenjoyable experience.

Cenobite ~ Pinhead is an interesting one. If we are talking about the way I play him, it doesn't affect me. I maximize his Box uptime and try to use that to win. However, playing him like BHVR intended (ie, using his Chains at every loop) gets a disaster. Many streamers and top players on PC have said that aiming his Chain is pretty difficult. It's damn near impossible to aim and control it on Console. You have to put it right on top of people.

Deathslinger (RIP) ~ Deathslinger also suffers from not being able to flick. Those split second flick shots simply can't be done on Console. His ADS also triggers freezes a lot of times (ask me for clips I dare you) and the lower FPS gives you less time to act when Survivors juke.

Nemesis ~ Nemesis is basically stuck in the same rut as Deathslinger. He can't flick, his Tentacle can freeze your game and the low FPS gives him less time to react to Survivor jukes. It's also weird trying to track with the Tentacle, something is just off about it.

Twins ~ Bit of a surprise pick, I know. Twins can't flick shot, which can really hurt Victor and every time you charge a pounce as Victor, the game lags. Most of the skill shots you can make with Victor are gone on Console.

    TIER II

Hag ~ The only real difference I've seen with Hag is binding the teleport button to the scroll wheel to get faster teleportation to traps. That's a really high-level "tech" that doesn't affect most of the playerbase.

Demogorgon (RIP) ~ His Shred can freeze sometimes and it can be difficult to track, but for the most part, he's just fine on Console. You are only gonna have issues against really good Survivors, but then again, who doesn't?

Huntress ~ Huntress is gonna miss her flick shots, but from what I've seen, you shouldn't really need to go for those too much. Her long range shots are still there, and there isn't any freezing with her Hatchets.

Billy ~ Billy basically just loses his ability to quickly turn and chainsaw Survivors. Again, no flicking allowed.

Legion ~ Legion is a surprise pick. The low FPS can cause you to miss a Frenzy attack, which is absurdly punishing for no reason. Likewise, going into Frenzy will TANK your FPS. Ergo, Legion suffers from some painfully punishing issues on Console.

    TIER III

Trapper ~ His traps are traps, regardless of you being on PC or Console.

Wraith ~ Bing bong go bing bong no matter the device.

    Myers ~ *heavy breathing intensifies*

Ghostface ~ He still gets revealed through walls and can't be revealed when he's right in front of you.

    Doctor ~ Shock go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    Bubba ~ Chainsaw go vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Freddy ~ He still places snares at every loop and always teleports to your gen because of course he has Tinkerer.

Pig ~ Traps go brrrrrr but I could see a case for her Ambush not being as good due to lower sensitivity. However, her Ambush is bad.

Spirit ~ *vacuum cleaner noises intensify*

Clown ~ He's still gonna eat every pallet in sight. Just throw gas, break pallet and repeat until you lose.

Plague ~ Her vomit is the same, so much as I can tell.

Oni ~ Oni is actually really good. His response curve feels great and I have zero complaints. I don't think the 180 flick is intended atm.

Pyramid Head ~ I could see a case for him being in Tier II, but as I understand it, you want to use his Punishment of the Damned at animation locks. You shouldn't be trying to flick it.

Anyways, that's what I've got. Hope this helps!

Agree with almost all of this, though I would place some killers a little higher/lower (could be because on Pc I don’t suffer the performance issues or just personal incompetence):

Nurse, Nemesis and Deathslinger one Tier up to II (I am really doing prett good with them..)

Huntress and Billy to I (though Billy I never really gave a chance, felt super bad for me; Huntress suffers more from aim sensitivity settings than Trickster and DS)

Pig and Plague to II (ambush is pretty much not usable and vomit often doesn’t connect -though that might be a general Plague issue) edit: Bubba down to II, certain loops are harder to go around while chainsaw is active

Oni down to I. Seriously I tried but I have an easier time getting down with Trickster or Blight or Billy… this is probably the most personal pick for me..

  • Controllers have to Problem of harder precision. So you will naturally miss more hits because of 360s or aim dressing. Killers with range/pounce attacks or special attacks like Oni and Blight are especially harder to learn and specific edge cases might just not be possible.

additionally you will have a harder time looping as keyboard/mouse allows you to loop closer to obstacles/corners.

They didn’t “lie”, they changed their minds. That’s like digginng up someone’s twitter history to call them a bigot when it was posted ten years ago.

They’d get a bigger shitstorm over them if they did things the same way as last year. Now that was awful.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2537195#Comment_2537195

Also not a lie. You can’t honestly think they wouldn’t much rather have kept the voicelines?

Regarding Trickster, he’s the first killer to talk in a living language. A language players could easily speak themselves. That’s a mistake, not a lie. A miniscule semantic mistake at that.

Y’all are really prone to call BHVR names for the smallest things, huh?

    Underrated post.

it’s so bizarre that people try to dig up/make up stuff to call BHVR out for that just isn’t even true.

we have enough issues that actually need to be addressed (like optimization or gamebreaking/persisting bugs) but people make up stories and kinda distract from those actual issues..

  • Circular definite. And I do believe it’s 28 Meters Radius as all other range descriptions work that way.

keep in mind that there might be adjustments once they hit live though, as far as I know the current implementation of Boons can be under certain circumstances pretty OP.

  • One of the few highlights in the Scream TV show (not the movies with Sidney) for me was that the Killer acknowledged that. I think they missed a hit and then took the mask of with a comment.

(the rest was still pretty bad though..)

Which Daily was worse: the old Nemesis one or the old Pig one where you had to kill someone with the trap?

Nemesis is fine I feel, apart from zombies getting stuck in random places very, very often. For example on Midwhich by one of the exit gates with the drop, there is always one zombie that gets stuck on a ledge / pipe.

I wasn’t around for that pig daily. That sounds awful…

    • Shattered S.T.A.R.S. Badge effect duration increased to 60 seconds (was 30 seconds)
    • Iridescent Umbrella Badge effect duration increased to 30 seconds (was 15 seconds, but was erroneously displayed as 12 seconds)
    • Ritual of The Nemesis reduced to reaching maximum Mutation Rate one time (was 4)

    Nope, not at all.

Not a single nerf to survivor items/addons/perks,

the only thing that got nerf is hatch, which should happen 9months ago when they murder mori.

    is that even a surprise?

To be fair, keys also got a minor nerf on their own, having an activation time on the hatch before you can use them, on top of the hatch change.

that’s a heavily requested (and needed) change, and while it should have come sooner I don’t see any reason to downplay it now.

  • @Luciferr_2nd said:

So basically its a big middle finger to the people who worked hard to get it last year, because theyre just going to give it to everyone.

And last year the codes were a huge middle finger to those that couldn’t follow streams for whatever reason.

guess what? The ‚hard work‘ was to watch people play a game and give codes away and type them in your own game. Which iirc was also very tedious for console players, many of them could often not get it just because they had to type them in with a controller.

in the end, it’s a charm that never was promised to stay completely exclusive. And is still time exclusive.
