well no one owes you a unhook.

that said I normally get unhooked in the face of the killer without barrowed time.

This pretty much sums it up. Either I remain hooked when the killer is on the oppisite side, which is fine. They're randoms, so I don't expect team loyalty, or they bring the killer to my face and I'm down faster than gravity. Fun times!

  • This happens even at lower ranks. It's frustrating, but you can't expect them to just roll over and take a beating. Though, honestly, this is why I'll purposly derank myself because I don't find the sweats and tryhards fun to play against. It's not in any way fun to do.

  • I've had my David ready for Prestige 1 for months now, but the bloody clothing for Survivors doesn't appeal to me at all. I've Prestiged my Ghostface twice now, and that's just mainly for the Achievements tied to Prestige. Ghostface looks good with the bloody cosmetic, but overall, I aboid prestiging since there's no guarantee you'll get the Perks back soon, especially if you have a lot of other Survivor/Killer Learnables unlocked.

  • I like the idea of extra effects, but I think it'd work better as it's own mode. A challenge type mode outside of ranked that could offer bonus BP for wins, or even bonus items. If it was in the usual Ranked mode, it would be abused like crazy, especially the Undetectable ability, since killers would be outright OP at that point.

  • Best for me was a 4 -man Stalk with Ghostface and downed all in 30 seconds because they tried body blocking me. I guess they forgot the instadown effect :D

  • I have to agree, SWF makes the game less fun. I don't mind they pop gens fast, but when the match is over in 2 minutes, what was the point? I play for fun, not a sweatfest of praying this group will rush me

  • @Bone_Idol said:

@Mikeasaurus exactly dude. I have always considered there to be two major elements to my escape chance, how well all 4 survivors work together, loop, heal, unhook etc and how well the killer, loops, anti loops, plays efficiently etc. The choice of killer doesn't often come into that, I never start a game see a nurse, spirit, Freddy etc and think that's it game over. It still comes down to how everyone plays, I've been with really good survivors, and Beat good nurses good spirits, I've been with good survivors and been destroyed by great clowns or legions. It happens, I've seen terrible spirits get 5 gen'd and fantastic wraiths wreck teams. Sure in the right hands spirit can be very scary, but aslong as you and your team play efficiently, try and get chases as long as you can and otherwise work your gens you stand a good chance of getting out. If your always losing to spirit specifically you should be happy to see her, practice is practice, and spirit can be hard to loop and chase, but not impossible. Because every killer is different in term of powers and base speeds, add one etc there will always be stronger killers on paper and weaker ones. It not always the same in practice. Personally I think I lose waaaaaay more games because of survivor choices than because of the killer I am facing

Exactly. It just comes down to killer skill VS Survivor skill. If a 4 team of survivors are working together well, the killer is going to have a tough time, as I had a few hours ago with when I was ghostface and got major genrushed and looped to hell and back. Whereas, when you get a group that have maybe one or two weaker skilled, you'll see it instantly. Nobody is the 'perfect' killer/survivor, but just because people lose a match or 2 they instantly demand the game made easier for them. I used to be terrible with killer matches, since I'd get looped, taunted, flashlighted, but overtime, Ive learned the tricks to use against them. Best advice for Op is: Use their exact tricks against them. They'll try mindgame you, so mindgame them back. Trick them by running at a window, but run away from it. There's so many ways you can confuse a killer just by watching their actions for a tell. It won't always work, but it keeps the killer busy so other survivors have the chance to pop some gens at least

I don't like a part of this game so I want it changed, what's with this dbd player mentality. I mean sure gaming communities sometimes come together to try and get a broken feature of a game changed for the better, but the list of things I see players wanting or demanding changed on this game includes almost every aspect of the game. Do people really believe a game should be tailored to them and their enjoyment? I can't think of many games where there were features I didn't like, either you enjoy more of the game than you dislike or stop playing?

Too true. I'm tired of seeing 'X killer is always OP at X Rank so they need to be nerfed'. How come you never see X Survivor is too OP? It's always killers who MUST BE NERFED! Yes, Spirit is tricky to go against but so are some others. Ghostface, who can mask his terror radious, or Myers who could be right behind you watching you. Billy and Leatherface with instadowns. The list goes on. People just need to learn how to counter their abilities and practice more, before throwing out the nerfs are needed!

  • @HatCreature said:

There are a lot of good responses in here, all typical of course because this problem has always been around but I propose we teak the hatch.

I have stated before that maybe the Hatch should just go and the community has come up with different ways this could be accomplished fairly.

1---When 1 Survivor is left, pallets spawn according to how many Gens were done, lets say 2 per Gen for example. The Auras of both the Survivor and the Killer are revealed to each other, once they enter the Chase they are gone and after 1 minute the Exit opens, it doesn't power it is opened.

2---When there is 1 Survivor left that Survivor Screams in terror revealing their location every 6 seconds. One of the chests on the map restocks itself with a Key, a Survivor cannot scream while they are searching it, with the Key they can open the Hatch that has spawned on the map. This is the only time the Hatch will spawn and Survivors can still bring in keys to avoid searching chests.

3---Lanterns are placed around the map but are locked away, when there is on Survivor left they are unlocked. The last Survivor must pick up all 3-4 Lanterns, each Lantern grants progress to the Exit switch but only up to 55-75% at that point the Survivor must open the Exit the rest of the way and leave. I like this one a lot and think it would give Remember Me a lot more use since the Lanterns will only give a specific amount of progress and this perk will basically make that progress smaller since it adds more time. Wake Up will of course bypass this. Survivors and Killers will memorize where the lanterns are during the match so they both know where they're going but which one their of them know until they run into each other.

I like the idea of the lanterns personally. They could even link it directly to the lore itself, like maybe the Alchemist or Vigo created some sort of special flame to fend of the entity's power. Another possible way could be that the survivor could use a similar mechanic to the lanterns to gain a 3rd temp health state, so they don't just do down after 2. This would give the survivor way more of a chance to survive.

jake is hot so killers are going to run after you even if they do not see you uwu

Jake? Please. Give me swole David anyday :D

Also, to OP, why are you hiding in lockers? Unless you're using the perk for locker healing, avoid them! Killer's can hear you inside them, and after too long, AFK crows. And lockers near Gens are pretty much the hotspot for them. A gen's ticking and a lockers nearby, but no scratch marks? My first guess would be any locker near that gen.

  • As others have said, Spine Chill is extremely handy against her. Hell, I'm awful in any chase, since I always loop into a dead end stupidly most times, but Spirit is pretty easy to outplay. Hell, at one point, I was chasing her for 5 minutes doing 360's around her before I got downed allowing my team to pop 4 gens. Sure, she can be powerful at times, but practice makes perfect after all.

  • @GhostofYharnam said:

I hate when you do all the work and your team is just sitting tbagging on hatch with key while you're on hook. Then leaving when the killer shows up leaving you to die.

This is what I'm getting at overall. As others above stated, there are methods, but it's more the fact that these survivors are just letting people die for the sake of a win, but if a killer camps a survivor on hook for their kill, they're the evil ones

  • @Mochan said:

If the last survivors is always camping the hatch, you need to up your game. Either do the slug method on the third survivor, or wrap up the match before 3 gens are done.

The reason you're always getting hatch camped is because you allow 3 gens to be finished, then take so long killing the third survivor that the last one always has time to find the hatch.

Alternately, if 3 gens have been done you go around looking for the hatch before you kill the 3rd survivor.

I can understand the hatch happening every now and then, but if it's always happening in every one of your games you are just not playing right.

That's fair. It's usually because I get gen rushed and focus on a chase far too long, but I still just find it to be a low way for a survivor to win, screwing others over just so they can win.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

I mean, there's a few ways to work around this as Killer.

If hatch hasn't spawned, it's 50/50 who finds it first. Nothing you can do if they get there before you.

If hatch has spawned, go find it before hooking the 2nd to last person that way you can just sit on it and close it when it opens or alternatively slug and try and find the last guy.

It's also pretty dangerous to try for unhooks when you're the only one left as you lack information on the killer's wearabouts unless you're swf. I appreciate it when it happens but I'd hardly consider it low if a survivor leaves someone on the hook when they're the last one alive. In that situation, normally only one will ever make it out anyway.

I usually try make sure if theres 2 left, and I hook one, it's the survivor who hasn't been hooked. I always try search around for the hatch, but it's still just a low way to win imo.

  • Sounds like his connection was being run on a potato and you lost connection to him/her then. That's the huge issue with the game being essentially run on the killer. If they have a bad connection, it will affect everyone else in the game

  • I get this too as a Killer. I'll have a survivor try emote at the hiding survivor. I kinda double take on them and down the snitch and leave the hider. I don't like Survivors who are basically trying to screw over others just trying to play the game.

  • @Charlisse said:

On the PS4 console btw. I don't know if it's the same for Xbox or PC

It's the same for Xbox. It's because the killer left before the game began I assume. Same happens when a Survivor leaves the game during the loading screen. It's really annoying when it happens.

  • Of course they do. Those 3k BP (or 1K if they don't use one themselves) are so OP to them! Screw the rest, they gotta get themselves those 1K BP! Seriously though, it is getting out of hand now. I don't know why Killers are so desperate with these hooks. I main killer and if I see one, I'll hook them, but I could care less for the bonus honestly.

  • @Peasant said:

I understand your point OP but I would like to point something out regarding the 3 sacrifice challenge with NOED.

Guys, gals, just use Blood Warden.

Hook survivors early on so that the end game hook is death and then summon the Warden to trap them in.

A good idea, but you have to remember, not everyone has this perk. They might not have gotten it from the Shrine or even own that DLC. This is something a lot of people forget these days. Not everyone has every DLC Perk available.

  • I agree. Doctor may not be fantastic, but he's more useful than a Legion. I rarely ever see a Legion anymore which is kind of sad, since he was a fun killer to try go against. Here's hoping Legion will rise back up again soon!

  • @Chatkovski said:

I'm really tired of reading that camping is a strategy... Someone not really clever with a bit of authority says it, and a mass repeats it hoping that it becomes a reality.

There is at least one case where camping has absolutely nothing legitimate: when the killer is alone close to the survivor hooked. Moreover, this brings no dynamics for the game and absolutely destroys all the pleasure of a player (since he can not do anything, what a fun game...), it is an undesirable situation.

I doubt that amplifying reward punishments (BPs, etc.) is desirable. We must impact the gameplay. There is a solution, needing to be thought out more because involving many questions: the Entity does not progress when the killer is alone in a radius around the hooked survivor. We must start from this idea.

Support that camping is a legitimate strategy (so always), and at the same time complain about the disconnections or suicides of the survivors... You really dare everything.

(What? Killers do not complain about disconnections or suicides of the survivors when they are camping them, so there are justified cases for these undesirable behaviors?!)

And Camaraderie is a bad joke.

Could not agree more! As a killer main (And part-time Survivor) I absolutly despise camping of any kind. I could care less if people claim it's a stat, to me, it's lack of skill, and shows desperation for a kill. If I hook someone, I don't stand 3 feet away just to make sure I get that kill. A lot of games I can only make 1 or 2 kills, but I don't feel the need to stare down the hooked victim. If they get unhooked, good for them. More points for me to chase them down again. I don't get why people think killers should ALWAYS have a kill. Regardless of a full survivor team dying, or 1 death, you STILL GET POINTS! Shocker, I know. People need to stop taking this game so damn seriously and just have fun with it, like, you know, games are supposed to be!

  • @Alphaphalt said:

Give me a good reason why they shouldn't be sabotageable except for "MUH EVENT HOOK".

Because the survivor was clearly just being an ass for the sake of it. How many games do you really see anyone sabo hooks nowadays? I pretty much never see it happen anymore. It's always Gen rushers. And it's 3k BP for the hook. Would the survivor be so put out just because the killer got 3K extra?

  • Xbox One here and I'm waiting nearly 10 mins some days just for a killer to start, then another 5 for survivors just to fill the lobby. Survivors on the other hand just pretty much insta-start on me. I love to play Killer but the waiting around for so long really puts me off, and Survivor lately just kinda bores me, but I'm feeling like I'm forced to play survivor just to get some games done

  • The hatch is a mixed bag for me honestly. When I play killer, I can guarantee someone will spot it's spawn point before the final gen has popped, and will be sure to camp it out once they escape me and I'm trying to moniter exits. As Survivor, it screws us over since you can guarantee 1 or 2 will sit in locker close to that hatch and wait for the final survivor on hook to die so they can use it. It is handy if the killer has wiped everyone out and you're the last standing and the exit isn't open yet, but at the same time, a lot of players will just sit and wait for you to die so they can just escape the second that skull appears on the hooked survivor. It's frustrating to see it happen, but I doubt anything will change with it anytime soon

  • I really don't see why the licensed characters wouldn't get the chance really. The companies letting BHVR use them are basically getting to see how people still love these characters and how much they'd be used. It's not like these people are pumping out films based on these characters anymore anyway, so why not just let a game dev studio add some fun little cosmetics.

You dont have to put any money in the Rift to complete it. It is entirely optional. Furthermore, Rift =/= Archives. You can complete the Rift without doing any Archive-Mission.

Besides that, I think even the Level 4-ones are doable. Especially the Killer ones, except for the End Game-Challenges (both Survivor and Killer), they are all doable. Not on first attempt tho, but this is fine. Like, its easy to hook people in the Basement, using Map Offerings and Agitation/Iron Grasp (would not recommend to use Bubba for this btw). Killing all 4 in the Basement is a different Story, but also achieveable.

Oh I'm not denying they're doable, but lets face it, when survivors realise what you're attemtping to do, they'll screw you over. Same as killers. And you can technically skip tiers with Cells, essentially, pay to skip. I was more interested in the lore unlockables over the rewards from the pass itself, but having the lore locked behind challenges that are just insanely hard is a huge put off for me. Especially NOED at Endgame. Let's face it, NO survivor would even give you the chance to get them once they sit in that exit gate and taunt you.

Yes that is true but when a survivor or two d/c's the killer doesn't get booted off the game and game doesn't end there. But when killer rage quits it's game over. When a survivor rage quits it's a disadvantage to other survivors too. They have to do more work alone giving the killer the advantage.

Some people play this game for hours. I don't have the time to play for hours on this game and when I finally have the time to sit down to play I have to deal with all the bs. I agree with you on the part of it not being fun anymore. Frustrating really. Like to get through at least one match!

Totally agree. It's pretty annoying to just suddenly be booted out to a results screen from nowhere because of the killer DC'ing. I can sometime spend up to 5 mins in a lobby just waiting for a single match on Xbox and to just have that time wasted, it's frustrating and makes me really avoid going back to the game for days.

  • Mine has to be Spirit because every Spirit I seem to encounter are so sweaty it's unbearable! You barely get a chance to react when she just poofs into existence right beside you. The only telltale that she's phasewalking is when they just stand on a spot not moving until they just vanish.

    @meatisadelicacy said:

Can't stand Ghostface. I break him out when I don't even realize he's there, when I see him before he sees me, I'm exposed. So many camp, and there's no killer that dc's as soon as the exit gates are powered as often as Ghostface does.

I agree with this about Ghostface. I main him, but I feel really cheesy using him. His Stalk ability can just be spammed to keep the terror radius from even activating near Survivors and it's WAY too easy to sneak on them unless someone snaps me out of it. I personally hate having a huge advantage like this over Survivors, because personally I'd hate it being done to me. I'm probably one of the very few that DC when Exit gates open as Ghostface. I usually just join the taunting for the fun, but he does need some kind of a nerf on the pretty much eternal non-terror.

Peanits said in another Thread that this mission is meant to be part of the repair of 4 Gens while using Dark Sense. So you dont need to repair 4 Gens by your own, but participate in the repair of 4 Gens.

He also mentioned that some of the later Challenges are placeholders for now, they can still change.

If that's the case they REALLY need to reword a lot of these challenges because right now, some are just confusing or making them sound way worse than they actually are. But, this is also just typical game dev behavior. They'll place blocks on these sorts of battle passes where they know many players will struggle to complete them, and hope that if they become desperate enough, they'll cough up some cash to get those last few tiers. It's sad that even BHVR seem to be falling down this route, because even if we were to just play, you're getting like 1 rift fragment per level gained. It would take way too long just to get a few tiers of the pass this way

  • It's never been classed as a 'Team Game'. It's one of those, work together or work alone and use the others as a distraction types. And the amount of times these 'Teams' end up blocking each other at windows, doors, hooks, etc. They basically screw each other over because they're all like a flock of birds sticking together making themselves walking targets.

  • Point kept or not, this DC and Rage Quitting on both survivors and killers is getting out of hand, especially now the new challenges are here. I just had a match with Survivors, where 1 suicided on hook, the 2nd DC'd to avoid the hook, the 3rd suicided on hook, the 4th DC'd after the 3rd died. As for when I was survivor, we had pretty much done 4 gens with no issue, and the killer hadn't managed to get a hook, and just quit the match. It's now at the point when I play the game, I play for maybe one or two matches and just quit the game afterwards. It's not fun anymore. Too many people are being absolute babies about the fact they can't win, or get what they want, especially at the higher ranks.

  • I'd love to see optional objectives based on the map to unlock further lore behind those maps. Something like an item linked to the killer from that map that reveals more story of the events that led to their being taken by the Entity

  • Nice flex. But seriously, how many hours is that? That's some serious dedication right there!

  • I agree DC'ing should be punished, but there's always the issue of peoples connection may have just dropped or the game crashed, and they are punished for nothing. Personally, I think a good idea for legit Dc'ing could be just to lock them out of earning BP for a set time. This way, they can still play, but get no rewards. It would still screw over the ones who DC'ed from connection lost or crashes, but it could be a better idea than to just lock people out of a match for a set time

  • I would love to see a Bunny hoodie like this for Feng. It would be so cute on her. I personally love some of her outfits, the dress she can wear is lovely, and one of my personal favourites for her. I'd love to see more fun type costumes for all characters overall. Just some silly costumes that don't take the situation seriously, but are just fun to see people wearing as they run from killers

  • I get this on EVERY match as Killer. Regardless of how many players are left, they all do it, or flash their torches at me, t-bag, taunt, the usual. When I play as Ghostface I kinda just join in (Thank you BHVR for a T-bagging Killer!) and have fun with it. Just show it doesn't bother you. Most times when I Ghostface with them, I get a nice message rather than the usual toxic messages. But overall Survivors should just be graceful with their wins. We get it, you kicked our arses all over and beat us, but don't go that step futher just to rub the salt in. When I play Survivor, the only time I stay near the Exit is when a survivor is still outside on the map. It's more down to how I am personallity-wise. I can't leave knowing there could be a chance to help them if they were to be hooked, but if the killer comes toward the exit, I'm out.

  • I've had a game where I took one step forward and a Legion was sprinting toward me. The one time I've legit been jumpscared by this game.

  • @Sherry said:

You are so right! I cringe when I see a survivor writing messages like that to the killer. Then the killer usually leaves right away, so you can't chime in and say anything against the toxic chatter.

That's why I never rise (Or lower in a sense) to their level. I just make a stupid comment like 'Yeah, I was just awful in that match but GG anyway'. I just want to have some matches with a fun outcome and everyone had a good time, not feel like I need to get 5 cans of deoderant because they're making me sweat across the map to keep up with them all

  • @Nobsyde said:

This is why when I see someone rank < 15 in the lobby I recently started to message them (I'm on PS4) writing this:

"I see you are rank XX, so: welcome to Dead by Daylight! Remember to not disconnect or suicide on hook, have faith in your team and you'll have a lot of fun!"

...for now it's working and they even thank me for the welcome, which is a plus :D!

We need more people like you playing this game! I feel like new players who come to the game are just met by toxicity and if they're a baby killer, they get abuse over messages (Xbox One here), and I've been a victim of it myself, even now, I'm Rank 11 and I usually main Ghost Face and I usually get my ass handed to me but I get the usual toxic messages of how I suck, I'm so ezzzzzzz to beat, etc, etc. I personally just reply with a jokey message because I just don't care. I'm there to have fun. I earned points, they earned points, everyone wins in my book. People need to stop taking this game so damn seriously and just have a laugh with it, and make the new players feel welcome, not berate them so they just uninstall after 1 match.

  • I was going to invest in the Pass but after seeing the Level 1 challenges of 'Single Trial' challenges, it's making me super wary for higher. And if the only way I'll be able to level up said pass is just playing, it would take far too long, so it's a very hard pass on that for me. I'll stick with free unless these challenges get made a little less frustrating, because yes, people may be like 'Just git gud' or 'They're easy lol'. But lets face it. On what match has any survivor allowed killers to trap them with traps? What game has any survivor let people just hook them all. Low ranks yes, but high ranks, they're freaking toxic as all hell. And now challenges are in the game, I'm seeing more and more DC's because people can't get their single trial challenges, which is impacting games going forward. I was looking forward to the lore, but this has really put a huge negative view on it for me, and I'm going to be super skeptical of the future tomes now. I pray they learn from this and make the single trial ones a little more easy. Not super easy, but at least lower the numbers down.

  • I like the shadows. They remind me everytime I play how many friends I have :D

Yeah. Maybe they could use the rift and added challenges as incentive. DC and lose progress on the rift. DC too much and be locked out of it for a while.

I still don't know how to prevent hook abuse tho

Yeah I agree on the lose progress. I wouldn't say lock them out of it, but losing progress on their currently active challenge would stop people from DC'ing just because they're losing.

  • I agree the petal system is kinda meh. You're essentially relying on the other survivors playing them too to even get a decent bonus. And killers are really screwed over since they're have to down a survivor near one of the blighted hooks to even get a look at the bonus bp. The challenges need some balancing. I was assuming masters were the level 4 challenges, but they're already on level 1 and I've already heard about people just DC'ing if they don't get their progress on the single trials ones. I'm questioning if it's even worth going for the master ones anymore because I did want to see all the lore, but it's feeling like that lore isn't coming for me anytime soon

Had someone DC today because I unhooked someone before him and he had the archive challenge to unhook 2 in one trial... then stayed to tell us that in chat

I'll admit I did get super frustrated in a previous trial when I was attempting it since another player must have also been aiming for it too and it was a race to the unhook. But to DC over it, kinda sad that this is what gaming has devolved into. I personally don't care if I don't get the challenge in a single match, but it's really going to make matches going forward worse for many others.

  • It's sad but true. And with these new master challenges I can see even more DC's when people don't get their progress within 1 trial and ragequit. It's going to make getting killer/survivor challenges that need certain tasks completed fun. Especially the Killers 'Kill everyone' in 1 Trial if they plan on DC'ing to screw people over

  • I expect a lot more DC's because of challenges. The master ones are a definite warning sign for me. I can see many people rage quitting because they didn't get their complete master challenge in 1 trial. I pray it won't happen, but let's face it. Survivors like to DC when they get knocked down easily

is the bonus 5,000? I think that's what it was for the BBQ event, which this event seems to be a copy & paste job of.

Since the killer also used a Petal with me, seems we managed to do 3 blighted gens? I didn't see these gens myself since the killer took it upon themselves to stalk me for 10 minutes

  • I've never played previous events so can't say I know how they worked before, but seems its just bonus BP now

  • Sounds like it's just 'Kill everyone', but worded differently. So hook/Sacrafice or Mori everyone, not allowing anyone to escape. I sense many sluggers in the near future 😒
