I like farming, but I had a couple of gen rift challenges.
-
I had a killer get mad at me once, because I didn't know he was trying to give me the hatch. He'd pick me up, I'd struggle and get off. He'd down me again and I'd struggle and get off. This happened multiple times and then he hooked me. He called me filthy names in the end game chat, because I struggled. I was new to the game and had no idea I wasn't supposed to struggle so he'd give me the hatch. What a jerk.
-
Yes, it's fine.

I stream on Twitch and record for YouTube. It's amazing how many times I watch back video of my matches and I'm amazed at the things I miss -- survivors in clear view trying to hide, aura readings, etc. -- that I'm just going to chalk up to poor eyesight and hearing at my age, lol. 🤣
What's your Twitch name? I'll check it out.

My bf and I are 55 & 58 and play all the time. I play with my grandson who is 13.
I'm really enjoying this thread and seeing that there are other older players. :)

Younger than you -- but not by much, lol.
You're only as old as you feel, though, right? 🙂
Yep, that's true & I sort of feel the same. Just slower reflexes maybe. :)

It's been interesting seeing the variety of ages of the people who've posted so far. It's neat knowing that, despite the differences in said ages (and with it, differences in what our lives are like otherwise), this game (or having fun with a video game in general), is something we can share in common. 🙂
(BTW, it still looks like I'm the oldest in this group so far, lol 🧐).
How old are you?
-
I'm 53 and I've had people say such terrible things in the endgame chat. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, I wonder if they'd talk to their mom or grandma that way. You have a good point though... I should just realize that it's probably immaturity. Who knows.
I got into this game because of my teenage son and his friends playing it. They moved on a couple years ago and here I am still playing it. :)
I'm one of those potato players when it comes to being chased. I'm not good at getting away, so I try to play more immersive.

Hatch will now only ever be spawning when one survivor is left in the trial, and keys will require a short animation to complete prior to opening the hatch for the survivor.
thanks.
-
How are they nerfing the keys?
-
I don't know, but it's certainly interesting. Hope I run into you. :)
-
Thanks!
-
As a survivor main, I don't really complain about noed. It's part of the game and it comes at the end. Since it's at the end, it doesn't really interfere with me enjoying the game. I hate it more when the killer takes me out of the game from the beginning and I haven't really had time to enjoy the game.
I also don't like it when I get a team that will gen rush. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's like the game is over before it even started.
-
I wonder if this is hacking.
-
Oh, o.k. thanks.
-
Oh, o.k. Thanks guys! I feel silly. :)
-
Yes. Because when they implemented it before, I seemed to have games that lasted longer and were more chill. The survivors didn't gen rush and the killer didn't slug or tunnel. I really enjoyed it. :)
-
I figure it was either an accident, or they were having a bad game. It doesn't usually bother me. Only a couple of times, when the killer said they had to go and do something else. I wondered why they didn't just go afk instead, so I could still complete my challenge.

Conundrum is a Hex. Until the Hex Totem is found and cleansed, whenever an Obsession switch occurs, they get rid of the broken status and exhausted status, and the new Obsession becomes broken and exhausted.
Yes, I understand that it's a hex. I may have just worded my reply wrong. I was just thinking up a different idea. Thanks.
-
I really hate getting blinded and for that reason, I'm in the process of getting lightborn on all of my killers.
-
You're very creative. I like the idea, other than someone being broken at the start. Maybe it could be a hex totem and the person to break the lit totem, becomes broken for a set time.

Well if you've got teammates actually doing gens then most of the time they'll heal you after you pop a gen with them, not telling you how to play at all but just offering the advice that just running resilience and adrenaline and sticking to gens will help you survive way better than self-care ever could
Many times, we are nowhere near a gen and they just run off. Sometimes, they're healing theirself and won't let you heal them and they won't heal you. Sometimes, you'll finish a gen and then they'll run off and won't heal you. The other day, I healed them and they ran off without healing me. So, I'll keep running my self-care, I like having it as back-up.
-
I bring self-care, because some survivors refuse to heal you. If they want to heal me, great! If not, then I've got my self-care.
-
When I put out a map offering, it's usually because I'm piling up too much of that map and I'm ready to burn it in an offering. Or maybe I want to practice that map for a while.
I'm not sure why people read so much into the offerings. I always try to burn an offering. A lot of times, I'm not putting intensive thought into my offering... it's just I want to use them up. Especially the ones that aren't very useful. I hate getting the one that lessens the fog... as a survivor, that seems totally useless to me, so I burn them off as soon as I get them. Just to get them out of the way.

Matchmaking is always gonna be a problem. It's a problem in most games, much less a team game and an asymmetrical one at that. Not that this shouldn't be worked on, but that's a much more complicated and completely different issue. You're adding to my point here--there's always gonna be teammates who aren't doing what they should be. This encourages people on that path.
Also, you're saying "even without challenges" your teammates are doing all that. There's no "without" challenges. There's ALWAYS challenges. It's ALWAYS going to be influencing player behavior.
It became blindingly obvious playing with my newer friends who are learning. You're so starved for bloodpoints, you tunnel vision on them. They were really staying injured on purpose to try to do the iron will challenge, that was a big light bulb.
In the same game I heard "no, don't heal me" after being unhooked, AND "omg this feng [i unhooked] wont stop running let me heal you!" It sets up so many avenues for frustrations.
But I hear you on the matchmaking--playing with these new friends has been wild. They've gotten up to rank 12, with me at rank 5 today the killers were either rank 1 or rank 16. The game can't figure out what to do.
Your point here about the healing, reminds me of the challenge where you need to remain unhealed to get the skillcheck perk to work, I found that people were always wanting to heal me. And I didn't want to be rude, so I just started running no mither to finally get that challenge completed.
-
When people are friendly to me in the pre-game chat, it makes me want to try harder for them. I feel like I don't want to disappoint them for some reason. :)
-
Maybe it is skill, like GoodboyKaru says. I watch Ohmwrecker a lot and I've seen him get it to work multiple times. And he often goes against high rank killers.
-
I'll tell you why it's so annoying. What if you have a challenge where you have to completely use up a certain number of medkits, sabotage x number of hooks? That's what happened to me. It seems like Franklin's demise has gotten suddenly very popular and I've encountered a lot of killers using it. It sucks to load into a game with a challenge in mind and then immediately lose the item required to complete that challenge.
I mean, it's not the worst thing that can happen, but it is annoying.
-
I miss it too, so I see where you're coming from.
-
Right now I'm running empathy, self-care & distortion. The extra slot, I've been running calm spirit or wake up. I never run meta perks, unless it's a challenge requirement. I don't know why.
-
Love this idea OP! If they would give us the choice between old version & new version, then I would definitely be playing the old version.
-
I've been enjoying this perk lately as well. I used my shards to get it from the Shrine of Secrets. A lot of times I forget where the doors are, so I find this perk super helpful. Plus I like that it speeds up the opening of the door.

I forgot about a few of the ones you mentioned. If they're acting bizarre in the pre-game lobby, then I might dodge. For example, readying and unreadying in rapid succession over and over. Or filling the chat box up with nonsense... those can be red flags for odd behavior in game.

lol.
-
I don't dodge lobbies too often, but when I do it's usually because they have a filthy username.
I also might dodge if the other 3 survivors are identical. I think they might be a swf and likely won't be helpful. For example, many swfs will run to save their teammates, so I won't getting any saving points. Sometimes they'll purposely lead the killer to me, to make themselves safe. And when it's my turn to go on the hook, they'll be far away, healing each other and working on gens. So, as a solo survivor, I prefer not to play with swfs.
-
Interesting observations. I agree with most of your point of view. That's kind of how I feel about camping, tunneling and slugging. I just want to be able to play the game and when killers do that, it's really frustrating.

I think he was angry he got to 2nd phase because you were being overly cautious and was crouch walking towards him. you wanted to be sure that the killer wasn't around, but playing like this is an absolute detriment to the team. you can't play so timid that you have to be sure about where the killer is before you make a move.
I wasn't the one that let him go to second phase. He was on his second hook. I prefer to be careful, because I don't like it when people rescue me in front of the killer. If they rescue me in front of the killer, then I'm likely going down again, because I'm not good at chases.
So, I'll have to disagree with you.
-
I've had games like that. I had a game recently where I saved someone. I think he was on second hook. I go for the save slowly and carefully usually, because I'm not good at chases and I want to be sure the killer isn't around.
So, I rescue this person, who was on his second hook. He didn't want to be healed. He immediately starts jumping a fence over and over, creating a loud noise notification. So I start to walk away, so I won't leave scratch marks. When he sees this, he starts running after me. So, I start running to get away. Then I get in a locker, because I know the killer will be coming.
So, then he makes more noise notifications with a pallet and then comes to my locker, trying to open the door over and over. The killer comes and I get out and try to run, because I'm full health and the survivor is injured and I think I can get away. The killer pursues me and then downs me, with the survivor who downed me right with him. I dc'd. I didn't want to be in that game.
Anyway, I'm sorry you've had to go through this. I know the feeling and it sucks, but there are more nice teammates I believe than bad.

In the lobby specifically? Only inappropriate names. And they have to be something heinous.
I'm not a killer main, but I dodge the inappropriate names lobbies as well. They usually end up not being the most helpful teammates.

Um, she's hideous right there.

I think it's mostly the OGers who think of it that way (they're outnumbered by the non-OG players) so it's not going to revert back to that meaning. The only way it would is if the bigger streamers started advocating for it consistently, and then that got reinforced in forum posts, comments, etc, so that it becomes the norm. But I do like the idea of a "come get me warning." Maybe like others suggested, there could be differences. Fake attempting (actually grabbing the hook) could mean "no one is getting me." And simply wiggling your arms at any speed you want could mean "the killer is nearby or camping."
I learned it from Ohmwrecker. He thinks it means, come get me, so I just go with that.

I also find looping difficult and I'm also an older player (mid 40s) so maybe that's a new myth we can start - the older you are the worse you are at looping.
Yay, I'm all for it. :)

It's always nice to see older players :) anyway there's no minimum level of skill required per hour played as long as you're having fun. Hopefully MMR will even matches out a bit so you don't get stuck with killers with cat-like reflexes and teammates who demand perfection.
With the ranged killers it's often better to drop the pallet early. Especially with the likes of deathslinger and trickster, I'd drop it very early or not at all.
Speaking of MMR, I really liked it when they had it enabled. I heard people complain about it, but that wasn't my experience. The games lasted a lot longer and seemed more chill.
Thanks for the tip. :)
-
That it's easy to dodge and loop the killer. I've been playing for a couple years and I'm just not good at it. I'm older though, in my 50s, so that's my excuse. My teenagers got me into the game a couple years ago. The yellow glyph skill checks... couldn't do it, so I gave up on it. Maybe I have a slower reaction time. Who knows. I have almost 3000 hours in the game, so I'm just saying.
Every once in a while, I'll get toxic players purposely try to bring the killer to me. I guess, because they want me to be more bold, or not play stealth. Who knows.
I've gotten better at using pallets, but not against killers like the Trickster, Huntress, etc, that can just go through it.
-
Oh yeah, o.k.

What does IW stand for? I know the others.

Another thought... load up unbreakable, if possible, when burning your cakes. That can be your safety, in case it turns into a slugfest.

I find myself playing with 3 companions of rank 20, I am of rank 4 against bubba of rank 1. already this is strange! 5 cakes on offer! we are close and we leave in 4 to make a generator. bubba arrives and takes out 3 in one shot, then starts chasing me leaving them on the ground. he chases me for a while, then I decide to stop, bow to him and put the healing kit on the ground. because? because there are 5 cakes. he turns on the chainsaw and throws me to the ground, and lets the mouse go ... we all bleed to the ground! the result was that the scores ranged from 2000 bp to 8000 bp. dear killer ... either you are stupid or you are just frustrated. P.S. for all those who will now say that I am angry, I say that I have simply waited for the end of the game to start a new one. I'm not angry, I'm just wondering what some people are up to!
You can't fix stupid. I'm talking about the killer in this case.

Claudette is such a cutie or was. I haven't looked at her since the update tbh I don't think, not up close. But yeah I rock the no glasses curls she had in her silver dress outfit and her school suit hairs. So I'm prob in the same boat.
Ooof that sucks. What Kate head changed that went sour?
The ponytails have been ugly. I think the one black lipstick head has better hair now but they took away the eyeshadow?
All of Kate's other hairs are still the same other than . . . the Pigtails? But I like the change on those. But I like a mini-bang.
I agree with you on the pigtail look. I think the new one looks much better. The one you like now on Kate, is the one I was talking about. Someone posted a picture here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2399197#Comment_2399197
I really liked the old one. Oh well. Not as big a deal to me though, as Claudette. She was my favorite.

I feel the complete opposite. I have too many add ons, that I am always trying to use up.
