One of my friends brought up a really good point, which was "do you really miss how the game was, or perhaps do you miss how life was?" and to better elaborate, their point at the time was, did you only miss old DBD or was their a deep form of nostalgia there.
Back when I got DBD, it was 2018, and the game had became free through PS+. I never really played it too much, since other games had my attention, but I do miss those summer nights of playing Kill Your Friend lobbies with a full party. Even with bare minimum unlocked, it was something I cling onto.
But, the question from before poses a good question, do I solely just miss old DBD, or is part of that nostalgia a reflection of me wanting to go back and live life like it was back then. Do I miss the time I spent with my family, the fireworks from the 4th of July, those parties were all my friends got together and just had the best times we could, and DBD is, to a degree, a reflection of that?
This is, as you might expect, a very "deep" post, seeing the nature of the question itself, but what or how exactly would you answer this question? Do you really miss DBD, do you actually miss the life you lived at the time, or perhaps is it a mix of both?
The old meta and diversity in builds.
Back there really wasn't such thing a "meta perks" it was "optimal load out" for examples back than a killers optimal load out was
Ruin 1.0 (slowdown)
BBQ (Tracking)
Sloppy Butcher (Healing)
Nurses Calling (4th perk is usually a misc perk or a chase perk)

For some reason early 2021 really sticks out to me.
I know the game was still pretty unfair to most killers but killers also had some pretty broken stuff they could use(pinky finger, Nurse range and recharge, scalped topknot, iri head etc), also with the old ranking system, there was a decent range of skill at rank 1 which meant not every game would be a sweat fest. I feel like the community was also a bit better than what it is now(emphasis on bit), and at this point the long chain of killers with anti-loop powers had only began.
Obviously there were issues, loads of issues, but there was no:
Nemesis, Artist, Pinhead, Eruption, COH, Eyrie, Garden of Pain, RPD, Hexes being neutered, condemned Sadako, Knight, 3 gen meta, MMR pushing people to sweat, lobby back-filling, Skull merchant, rampant oversexualization, boring survivor perk design, AND Maurice was not touched.
For me, that was when we had Ruin 1.0
As killer that was the only regression and slowdown perk they needed. Granted survivors had a bunch of busted stuff but killers could play around it.
As survivor, the only problematic things about killers was add-ons.

I haven't faced her in almost two months! I miss her so much. :(
I fear that she may have gone extinct. My girl needs to be played more, I can't be the only one!
Former Rin Yamaoka main her.
I gave her up mainly because
1. Her counterplay is way too easy
2. Horrible add-ons and she's too add-on dependant.
What made her kit unique was taken away from her and she's not even fun to use anymore.
-
@VikingDragonXii said:
I stopped playing her awhile ago. I agree her fake out needed fixed but giving her both directional audii and distance audio was a bit too much imo.
They should of given her one but not the other because with both Survivors know exactly where she is coming from and how close she is to getting you. I have not been hit once by the reworked Spirit which is sad to be honest.
I made a video about this a long time ago that getting rid of her standstill is a indirect nerf to her. It needed to go but any indicator that she's phasing ultimately butchers her kit.

- Dh needed to be nerfed like 4yrs ago so this is the perk getting what it rightfully deserved
- Outside of what I said for No.1 survivors have nobody to blame but themselves.
BHVR themselves have shown and told us that they were keeping a close eye out on "The Meta" and what did we do AS A COMMUNITY continue to use meta perks knowing damn well this was gonna happen.
Like I'm upset about the C.O.B and OC nerfs (needed slight nerfs but not this harsh) but hey, as a community we all brought this on ourselves.

I think it is because since she doesn't really have any chase power (it's too slow and only works againts healthy Survivors to push them away), the best thing she can do is camp gens which almost everyone hates because it is boring and long. What are your thoughts?
She's a copy and paste M1 Killer with a usless power. Lately I've noticed that BHVR is being too cautious with designing killer's and I simply think it's because they are catering too much to how the killer should feel to survivors.

I mean survivors have Distortion which hides the aura of the survivor but would a perk that hides you from killer instinct be op probably work the same way as Distortion a few stacks you have to do something to gain those stacks back but would it be OP?
Its too late to add a counter to KI because of Pinhead!
I personally don't think KI needs a counter mainly because outside of Legion and Dredge(sorta) it's more of a immersion mechanic.
Getting proc'd with KI from Ghostface feels like it's suppose to make him get upset about being broke out of stealth and to go get revenge
Artist KI really feels like its supposed to shame you for barley missing your crows, but encorage you to finish the hunt depending on the situatuion
Hell RE killers KI feels like it's suppose to upset you over the fact that survivor's are healing.
While KI can be used for tracking, it feels like a killer immersion mechanic that suppose to make or brake the play

I am trying this one now.
Aura readings for teleport power + some slowdown.
Make Your Choice(MYC) is one of his best perks.
Devour Hope is one of his strongest perks because once you reach 3 stacks, Dredge gains massive momentum from this, but sadly it's a hex.
Dredge is mostly good with Tracking perks imo because he's one of the only killers that can "Be here and over there at the same time"
I usually run
MYC (Pig)
Scourage Floods of Rage (Sadako)
Discordance(Legion)
Surge/Jolt (Demo)

Vs Dredge, I love his Nightfall mechanic because you essentially have to rely on audio to track him

That's one of the main reasons this mechanic is being tested. Killers will sometimes slug survivors until bleedout for no reason other than a power trip.
What about people that don't do that?
What about Kazan Yamaoka and The Twins? Killers who are designed to slug.
What about low tier killers that actually benefit from slugging because it gives them momentum?
Granted I agree with wait til the PTB, but that more like a perk thing rather than a mechanic thing.

No, that is not what I am asking for, Oni could still be able to collect his power all good and dandy around the hook as normal,
Oni would not be able to sit in front of the hook and wait for someone to go for the unhook then activate his demon rush and prevent a trade and get a free snowball.
That's technically the same scenario. What if he's being looped around a hooked survivor and sees a opportunity to use Yamaoka's Wrath to down the looper? Kazan can't because the looper is taking advantage of your idea to stay safe.
What I'm getting at is that there is no way to punish a playstyle without
1. Survivors being able to abuse it
2. Punishing other killers who don't use that playstyle
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Killer powers should be disabled after they face camp for longer than 7 seconds
STBFL also needs to be toned down because at full stacks survivors cannot even hook trade, you can get two hits off before they complete the unhook
This would only slightly reduce the camping issue
- -from someone who is tired of being face camped every game because its "legitimate strategy"
The thing that a lot of people don't get, is that camping is a playstyle. You can't punish camping without hurting those that don't camp.
Oni for a example.
He hooks a survivor and notices a lot of blood around the hook to give him his power. Since collecting blood is range dependant and slows his movement, your idea would prevent him from getting his power and leaving even though he had no intention of camping.
As for STBFL the perk has always done that since before basekit

God it’s like if the devs give one good thing to survivor then killers cry like little babies, but when killers get something, survivors always have to “adapt.” The irony.
Your not seeing what killers see. Killers are mainly upset because this essentially is a nerf to killer tactics to gain momentum/snowball and of course risk/reward.
I only slug when the opportunity presents itself. Let's say I got lucky and downed someone at a strong loop with no way to avoid a flashlight. I have no choice but to chase the flashlight and the slug gets up for free with no risk/reward.
Let's keep in mind this will make perks like Knockout and Third Seal completely useless. This will also make killer more of a ######### sweat fest since killers are running out of 'fair' options to gain momentum.

Okay.
1. Reframe from insulting me
2. Why should survivors get that time, especially now that survivors get multiple second chance, and a teammate could help pull agro off the survivor?

I don't know how or why that dismisses the idea of ds being back to 5 seconds, it's 2 additional seconds. Not a big deal, it'll just make the perk actually useful rather than useless.
Exactly why I don't talk about it.
"2 extra seconds. Not that big of a deal" that gives the survivor enough time to get somewhere safe so that they can 1v1.
1v1 should not be a thing in a 4v1 game.

Thats because solo queue is 1v1. Hence the perk is very neccessary until they actually bother making changes to solo queue to help balance them with killers. No one takes hits let alone hooks for you. You get left on hook and left to die by being tunneled to death. DS is extrememly counterable with the powered exit gate change, 5 second stun won't kill you, and you could just not tunnel and you'll be fine.
I'm a solo q player because I find swf makes the role even more boring.

Further proof of what I said! The community is too far gone in the mindset of 1v1 and not 4v1.
Killers power doesn't matter. You wanna prevent tunneling? Help your teammate out. Take a hit for them, take a chance of getting slugged/hooked for them, instead of asking for 1 perk to give you more breathing space.
The things I said in this message, I do, and still look at the game as 1v4. Idc if I get camped or tunnelled out, because I'm contributing to the TEAM and not MYSELF!

I totally get a killer shouldn't fear a perk. I totally think the endgame disabling the perk was enough. How does one change erase a whole patch? I am just curious because it wouldn't make much of a difference except actually punish the killer for tunneling viscously.
Because than you'll be bringing back aggressive survivor gameplay. That teammate(s) that don't do gens because they'd rather be in chase and if they don't get the attention they want they spam notifications to the killer.

Yes the DS stun was changed because of Enduring but it should still be 5 seconds especially with the many powers that just make 3 (actually 2) seconds of ds worthless
Further proof of what I said! The community is too far gone in the mindset of 1v1 and not 4v1.

Too many killers are just eating the Endurance and the DS stun because there is no real punishment for doing so. 3 seconds isn't enough to make killers respect it. It makes for terrible gameplay and ruins the game all together. I am mainly a killer player and I find this to be boring to do and unfun for myself as well. I think DS deactivating at endgame is fair enough. It is legit open season on the scummy gameplay with how easy it is to tunnel with this change.
DS stun time never should have been 5s, it was like that because of Enduring (killer perk) and than Enduring got nerfed to only effect pallets, and Nurse is also the reason why it got buffed to 5s.
2 reasons why I think the 5s stun shouldn't come back.
1. You bring back the 5s and you might as well undo 6.0 update and the game might as well be boring with a stale meta.
2. I don't like talking about this because the community is too far gone, but the game is 4v1 and not 1v1. Killers shouldn't fear a perk. They should fear survivors working together.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3168238#Comment_3168238
So the only survivor-killer interaction that survivors get (other than being hit/hooked) is looping. Nurse completely removes that option from the game and it boils down to holding shift+W all game, trying to break line of sight and trying to bait your movement. Which isn't impossible but heavily relies on the Nurse skill level, and if she's skilled you're gonna have a hard time with it.
Plus her lunge just looks off visually, I don't question getting hit by other killers, but Nurse will lunge and look like she hits air but I'll still take damage, which is annoying.

I don't understand the idea that Sadako is placed as the worst killer in some tier lists, I don't even understand how she's the worst stealth killer, I think Myers is worse than Sadako because he literally needs set up that if he can't get he loses a lot of gens and he can't traverse large maps as quickly, obviously this is my opinion so why do people think she is the worst?
Sadako essentially doesn't have a useful power. Hey power is only useful at mindgameable loops. But good survivors aren't going to fall for her mindgames.
Mikey at T3 on the other hand.
Exposed: Literally cuts chase time maybe by 78%
Extended Lunge
Faster Vault Speed
Faster Break Speed
All these benefits is way better than what Sadako power can go.
Map pressure
Sadako has better map pressure, but the only issue is that her TV's take way too long to turn back on. Which hurts her imo.
Stealth
Sadako has a lullaby they let's survivors know she in the vicinity.
Only audio queues Mikey's stealth gives, is his breathing in which if you can hear him, your already too late.

Well running no gen regression usually leads to the killer getting destroyed. And as for second chance perks
Thats what running no second chance perks leads too
To give you a piece of my mind.
Killer: That's why I miss Ruin 1.0, because any value you got out of it was enough slowdown for the killer to get momentum.
Gens now are a issue because survivor's don't have enough obj prior to gens, but that's a core game issues and not a gen issue
Survivor: I never really liked using second chance perks, because if you play your cards right it's practically a get out of jail free card and I'm no fan of that.
I hate that no matter what BHVR does, camping and tunneling will always be a thing with or without second chance perks

She can't fake her blinks. Pressing M2 is a commitment to blinking. Now there's 2 things you might be thinking of.
1. Dead Zones
No Nurse player anticipates Dead Zones. Dead Zones are a map flaws that BHVR didn't keep Nurse in mind therefore she just blinks in place.
2. Cancelling the movement of her blink
Sally can cancel the movement of her blinks by blinking down at the ground. Only reason why this exist, is because she can blink to different elevations. Take this away from her and you essentially nerf her movement which she needs since she's the slowest moving character in the game.

I see that many people still dislike Spirit and even some Spirit players also don't like some tools Spirit can bring to turn the match into unfair direction. I think with these following changes we can finaly leave Spirit alone with both sides more happy than before.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/G7ENNA9E24MG/image.png
This is the main source of why Spirit is still hated and for a good reason. This add-on is stupid IMO. This add-on should just be totaly reworked and I have a idea for it:
- Now it will allow you to see pools of blood.
That's it. Remember that old Ultra Rare add-on that was nice to have but (at least IMO) wasn't broken? At least not as this Blossom. When that old add-on was removed, I remember there were people who was sad that this type of add-on has to go. I think it would be nice to have it again, since Spirit is overall weaker then when this add-on existed.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/JBIWNDUKKF3Z/image.png
I would like to keep the power fantasy and "It's Ultra Rare so it should be good" theme so I would just keep everything the same, but I would reduce the bonus movement speed by at least -10% (so instead of total bonus being +40% as it is now, it would be 30%), or maybe even -15% but you still don't see Survivor marks.
That's it. I think Spirit would be 100% fine and fair with these two add-on changes. Enough counterplay for Survivors while not being weak Killer and still one of the strongest in the game with good add-ons (but not OP).
Now that IW has been nerfed, I'd be fine with her killer instinct add-ons going bye-bye, but BHVR still needs to turn down chase music or make it fade out faster since chase music still drowns out in game sounds for her.
As for Mother-Daughter Ring. I'm going to look at this from 2 perspectives.
As a survivor: I feel like the add on is fine because it reduces reaction time in chase and without that speed, it's way too easy to outplay her.
As Spirit: This add on gives her the best map mobility possible because map sizes (which are still huge problems) and survivors becoming more efficient on gens is a recipe for her to get destroyed.

This is very subjective of course but still I wonder what is the most boring killer for you and why?
I find M1 killer's to be the most boring killer's to play against because it's the same old counterplay and it essentially feels like I'm not using any skill to outplay them, I'm feeding off of direct information to counter them.

I really really can't understand everyone's attitude thinking that this is all about winning or losing. It's also about enjoyment. It's simply not enjoyable to sit in front of a generator and watch a progression bar creep up for an entire minute and a half. Why in gods name would the developers have wanted to make that even worse for survivors?
Because finding, chasing, downing, and hooking the first survivor, just to have 3 gens pop isn't enjoyable for killers.
I don't think BHVR understand that gen times aren't the problem. It's survivors lacking a objective prior to gens.

If Jake has lost 10 games in a row because the update was too killer sided, then plays a game, gets downed within 30 seconds and DC's, says 'to hell with this' and DC's, then it is also the developers fault for making the game too difficult for survivors.
What is so hard to understand about that
Just because the difficulty got cranked up, doesn't justify DC'ing. We call that 'skill issue' or 'failure to adapt'.
Ultimately the player is at fault, but you can't even pin 30% of the blame on BHVR for making the game difficult when 'we' the players made them make this decision, because killers were underperforming, and both sides metas were either stale or too powerful for a 4v1 game

I was thinking about this today. Nurse is the only killer where you don't have to learn any game mechanics. No learning how to chase, no learning how to apply pressure, no learning how to hit and run or mindgame, no learning how to run tiles properly or defend gens - all you have to learn is how to point and click on the survivors, and in two games you're decimating every team with nothing they can do to you. Even killers like freddy and legion at least have to learn some things. After that second game, you are unstoppable, and you don't even have to think while you play, unlike other killers. And that's excluding her add-ons that make her even easier!
There's absolutely no reason that nurse should be as strong as she is given how autopilot she can be to play, compared to someone who actually takes a modicum of skill, like hillbilly. That's where the first of the many changes she needs should start - making her difficulty actually reflect her strength, imo.
Nurse is the hardest killer in the game to learn. She's just a different ball game. Comparing her to other killer's is like comparing apples to oranges.

Otz focuses too much on **THE CHASE** and not **THE GAME**
Add-ons
While I agree her range add-ons can be problematic, we still have horribly designed maps (Red Woods, Spring Wood) that should justify her to be able to run at least 1 range add on.
"Power having no downtime"
Sally's rework was essentially a cool down (recharge) stacked on top of another cool down (fatigue). Sally is the slowest moving character in the game, she needs to blink, and let's not forget outside of chasing blinking is her movement.
I understand he wants to change Nurse, but something is always gonna be busted about Sally no matter what what you do to her besides give her a whole new kit.

It's not dead unless they leave it like that for months, it's fine if they revert either generators to 80s or the speed boost/attack cooldown/bloodlust buffs, one of these is ok both are too much, and revert DS too
Reverting any of these will bring back problems.
Get rid of chase buffs, slow down/regression remains meta
Revert gens to 80% and swf remains the same problem along with gens being too fast.
Since Enduring got nerfed, the DS nerf is justified because the 5s stun was because of Enduring back when it effected all stuns.
What BHVR truly should have did with this update was gut regression/slowdown.
-
As I've said before. The game is 4v1 and not 1v1. It should take a team effort to prevent this.
Yes camping and tunneling is a problem, but ultimately it's a playstyle, and you really can't do anything about a playstyle that will lead to either unbaiancedness or tweak the other people that don't use that playstyle.
-

Reading most of these comments let me remind y'all
DS stun time was changed to 5s because of Enduring, and when Enduring was nerfed BHVR was too lazy to change the stun time back to 3s
A lot of these debates are 1v1 mindset, and y'all forget that the game is 4v1. But I guess 4v1 doesn't matter until endgame when the gates are opened.

But that won't fix anything, because the game will still be broken and killer sided. The only people who will not get 4k are the ones playing into SWFs or baby killers. And from that point you will see a heavy decline in the population of this game. Because as much as you laugh about survivors quitting, you need survivors to play this game. So have fun with that.
This extremely funny!
For the past 2yrs killers have felt like this. Now that the tables have been turned survivors are getting at taste of what it was like to be a killer within the past 2yrs and don't like it.
I suggest you start playing killer since their are two roles.

DS stun nerf was too much tbh.
No! They should have changed it back to 3s back when they nerfed Enduring to only effect pallet stuns. DS being 5s was because of Enduring and BHVR was too lazy to revert it.

Survivors need time to adjust!
I'm happy that they got rid of the crutches, but I think as a whole both killers and survivors are jumping to conclusions too quickly.

just wondering
I stopped playing DBD for quite some time, mainly because of the stale killer meta, and busted survivor meta.
Hopefully this update will bring me back into the game.

Why even play the game then if you feel that way? I don't enjoy the game unless I play killer along with survivor, one side by itself is just too boring I would rather play a whole different game.
Because people may find the other role uninteresting. I mostly play killer because I find survivor way to easy and boring.
