General question, how does "Player XP" work now, or what real role does it play? I'm just not understanding what tangible value is provided by having Double XP. How does it benefit me in the end vs just earning 1x XP?

Your XP adds to your player level which directly increases the amount of iridescent shards you earn, so as you level up your player level using XP you gain more shards for each level.

  • Neither of those things would be bannable.

The rules around body blocking specifically refer to taking a game hostage - so for example, a killer (or another survivor), blocking a survivor in the corner prior to EGC having started, when the survivor is healthy or injured (not downed/dying), would be reportable as that's taking the game hostage - that survivor cannot do anything to progress the game.

  • Hello, thank you for bringing this to our attention - this is something that has been brought to the Team and is being looked into. I do not have any further information at this time, but will update when more information is available.

Also, how do you expect a casual gamer to have seen this information? Most players don’t even know there is a forum. Wouldn’t it be better to just reach out to players or preemptively give out vouchers? Or maybe that makes too much sense

We had in-game news at the time with regards to cross progression and also the Stranger Things removals - so we did reach out to players, it was also across all our social media channels advising players and directing to our blogposts and FAQ's on this matter.

There is also a direct link in game to the forum and to the customer support website.

  • Just want to clarify, they must have had those characters at level 50 prior to the 6.1.0 patch, not prior to the catch up mechanic being rolled out.

  • The catch-up has not been fully rolled out yet....when it is rolled out fully, those who had their characters at level 50 P0/P1/P2 will receive the extra prestige levels automatically.

  • wkCeqeM[1].png

We do have this explained in the FAQ that we have for the Stranger Things content, you are still able to play with the content on the PS5 but using the PS4 game on there - however as our Support team has already advised we no longer are able to give out vouchers for PS5 content itself on the PS5.

  • This is something we're unable to reproduce ourselves...can you please supply a video showing this happening as well as your DXDiag, game logs so that we can see exactly what's happening. Thank you.

  • 500 Shards will rewarded on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th day of the event for a total of 2,500 shards!

Could the dates of the shards (or even what the log in rewards for each day) be edited into that post? I saw there was a Twitter reply listing the days for shards but probably helpful if it was in that post to easily check.

Ever since I was in a bad car accident, I was not active on DBD nor on the forums as much as I was before the accident. For the ones who didn't know what happened, I was struck by a drunk driver back in September and it broke my leg very badly (my left leg), and I had to get surgery. Now I'm stuck in a wheelchair, and I must stay in hospital and go for therapy for a while. My leg right now is good from the surgery.

But I am here to give you my update, my leg as of now is a lot better compared to how it was before, I just found out that I'm probably going to be stuck in the Hospital until the end of November, around Thanksgiving time. I'm stuck in a wheelchair until I can manage to fully walk on crutches. I got my laptop with me so I can keep myself not bored while in my hospital room, I'm counting the days so I can watch Halloween Ends on peacock, I'm super excited for that.

I've been going to Physical Therapy, I started going Friday I'm still learning how to walk on crutches, and it is really helping me prepare myself for the future, everybody there is really supportive and caring, and it is helping me get through this tough situation. I'm very grateful for that. So far, walking on crutches with a busted leg with a cast on is NOT fun nor easy, but trust me I am trying. I'm going to get the hang of it soon. :D

But yeah, everything has been going well, I'm being well taken care of by the wonderful hospital staff, I get to see my family sometimes which is nice, mostly we talk on facetime, but they are allowed to visit on some occasions, if I'm not busy on certain days with therapy or other stuff.

But yeah, nothing much else to say Haha! I promise I'll be more active on the forums than usual in the future. Can't wait to play Spirit when I return home. Also, just a thank you for all who supported me during this situation, you have no idea how much I appreciate you all, love yall. :)

I am so sorry to hear this happened to you.

I wish you as speedy a recovery as possible <3

  • I'd actually go the opposite way and wouldn't be opposed to not seeing any profile in the lobbies and not dodge lobbies - it affects matchmaking and queue times so much.

I certainly wouldn't want the survivors to see the killer profile - we had this at once point with a 3rd party programme and led to people getting dodged because they happened to be good at the game, or they beat someone before.

  • Unfortunately we do not have any update with regards to cross progression, other than the platforms that are already included.

  • The intention was to catch the players who'd levelled to 50 right up to the Prestige level, there's no further catch-up planned for those who levelled up to 40 I'm afraid.

  • There is no Official Discord, there is a community run discord that we partner with however.

Is there any chance that the Mori and Unbreakable changes get scrapped? Or are they basically guaranteed to be implemented in some form eventually?

Nothing is set in stone, that's why we're doing the PTB in this manner to get the feedback in early...that way changes can be made, feedback taken into consideration etc. That's why it's so important to try the PTB and give as much constructive feedback as possible.

But then what is the point of this PTB. Mori changes is not coming to live. So only archieve changes we will get. What was point

It's not scheduled to go live next patch...that's not to say it's not going to come to Live at any point. The new mori system needs testing and refining, which is why it's in this PTB.

  • Patch notes come out for the PTB on the same day as the PTB itself - they're never released early.

I'm really glad to hear this, because looking back, it does seem like most of the things I have to say are negative - not just now, but across most updates. I try to keep things constructive rather than invective, but I'm only human, and critical is still critical. And I don't want to mean that! I really do love this game. It's incredibly unique and it's offered me a ton of fun over year and a half I've been part of it.

While I am glad you guys don't take that personally, the positives do need to be said - there's so many things I adore about Dead By Daylight and I'm always blown away by the work that goes into every new chapter, rework, and cosmetic set. This latest chapter is one of my all-time favorites and Wesker's one of the most fun killers you've released, both on a mechanical level and an immersion one (his voicelines are so satisfying!) And the player satisfaction surveys that go out always make me happy not just for being able to give feedback, but because they almost always have questions pertaining to recent community concerns, and it makes me glad that we are being heard.

I actually see you as being pretty constructive with your comments tbh, if that's any consolation.

We definitely listen to feedback, we can't always respond on feedback (or I'd be here even longer than I currently am!) and we can't always action every bit of feedback we get - we do pass this feedback onto the relevant teams however, and ascertain how beneficial to players/the game things actually are. It often leads to further discussions and something else might come out of that as well.

The upcoming PTB for instance, is a big test - its not scheduled for going Live in the next release as is our normal way because we appreciate this is going to be a big change and we want the feedback in advance on it, because as many know, there's not a huge amount of time between PTB and release for changes to be made, and we do want to make sure we address players concerns on the Mori Finisher and everything associated with it.

    Agreed.

I'm very critical of the game and BHVR, but I do very much appreciate all the work that goes into making the game. I probably sound harsh on here a lot but it stems from a place of passion for DbD and sometimes it's easy to get frustrated when things go awry. I'm actually really picky with the games I play so the fact I've stuck with DbD for 6 years and thousands of hours means they're doing something right.

I think when a lot of people sound harsh it's often because they are speaking from a place of passion - so it's completely understandable.

We try here to be as understanding as possible - remember we play the game as well, so we do understand a lot of where the frustrations come from and try to be mindful of these things.

@TrueGuardian32 thank you for your post and your kind words.

Unfortunately, that's not really possible with most players like myself on console, especially for those of us who don't stream content. There needs to be a better way of reporting cheaters or even suspected cheaters than needing video evidence. I've played other competitive games and never was required video, so I'm sure there's a way. I really hope you guys get this fixed because the reporting feature is part of the problem. A lot of people are reporting without video, mostly because they can't or like me, don't feel it's worth spending 20ish minutes to report a cheater because we don't have easy access to provide video evidence. There has to be a better way.

Whilst I completely understand the points you are making and appreciate it's not always the easiest thing to record video. You can do this from consoles (unfortunately not Switch), following the procedure here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/66835/recording-evidence-for-your-player-report

  • @Araphex said:

I just wish someone would tell us if in-game reports on console alone are enough for BHVR to investigate a potential cheater. I decided to jump back in the game last night and went against a Pig who had Pimento and Devour Hope. We literally cleansed all the totems and despite doing so, Devour Hope was still active. When I finally ran into the Pig, I was downed instantly and killed. 8 totem cleanses, Devour Hope triggered at 5 tokens after we already cleansed all the totems. Pimento was triggered after we destroyed all the totems. Not to mention the Pig knew where everyone was without haven't any aura reading perks.

I say this because a lot of cheaters are subtle and yes, maybe this wasn't a cheater, but I'd at least like to know that my in-game reports matter alone. Many of us players aren't going to have video evidence or can't send a ticket on the website as easily as PC players can. So if someone from BHVR can confirm if the in-game reporting feature works by itself and we shouldn't have to do all this extra work to report cheaters or players who are sus, then I'm fine with the direction anti cheat is going in.

We do state about our reporting procedures in our game rules https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules for players that you suspect of cheating, video evidence would be required to supplement the in-game report.

I'm a freaking idiot, it all makes sense now, that was the Orange Glyph challenge. Thanks! Yes, now I remember. The thing is that the last time I did that challenge it was horrible, you'd get effects like you were on drugs, with a reduced FOV, visual and audio effects... it was horrible. And now that I think about it I remember the community complained about it, so probably they changed it to be that, just slow animations and less annoying things.

    Thanks!

We did make changes to the Challenge after community feedback yes, you are perfectly correct.

  • https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules We also have more information here, on what constitutes a temporary or permanent ban.

  • I think we're pretty clear in the post, that we don't want to give too much information away on things that can assist people to cheat. Giving an anticipatory timeline on what we're working on and what we wish to implement is probably as much information as we're able to give.

Keeping things vague, is something that we sadly have to do - we feel the frustration with regards to cheating the same way you do, we play the game, we see these matches happening. It's a never ending circle, and one that we're doing our best to counter and improving a lot of our own procedures to deal with things in the process.

That would be a first. A long time ago, when the Nurse 3-blink grab achievement became next to impossible (without farming) it was said achievements were set in stone, citing some Xbox limitations.

(Thankfully some Nurse add-on was changed a few months later and the achievement was possible again)

If an achievement is still technically doable we're not able to change it no matter how difficult it is. However, those that are impossible, such as the one mentioned in the original thread topic, are able to be changed.

Challenges can always be changed as they are not platform reliant.

  • We are aware re the changes to a few things, achievements, challenges etc when/if this change goes Live, but thank you for pointing this out.

  • @UpdatedCake said:

Yes, we know. But I think it's time to say something against bad decisions. Honestly, you have cheaters epidemy out there but BHVR is making changes for gameplay? Alright. Are the changes good? No, not at all. Devs should turn on the game and play for some hundreds of hours with randoms. Then they will delete those ideas even without threads like that.

With all due respect to the developers and the game, they don't listen to the players very often and this is a pretty critical update that if it gets to the game, it will change a lot of people's minds about the game. According to the "popularity" in a few hours from the players and from the content creators, you can see that these ideas did not meet with understanding.

Which is the whole point of a PTB though, so players can actually play around with it and test it and it can be refined from there.

Nothing is set in stone here, which is why it's not scheduled for the Live build.

  • I'm going to remind everyone that this is something that's being tested and something that we're going to be watching for feedback on intently during the PTB.

This is not scheduled to be in the next update on Live, it's something that we're requesting players test and give feedback on.

  • Anonymous mode doesn't really change anything with regards to reporting.

You still need to make an in-game report against the player - this flags the match to us and links us the player.

Then send your additional evidence (the video) to our Support team as normal - you do not need the ID of the person that you are reporting in order to complete this form. We are able to find the information that you have previously given us in-game.

you used to be able to heal in a chase with Self Care as well, drop pallet and you'd have healed with self care by the time the killer had broken it...I also remember We'll Make It working on yourself with Self Care.

  • You would only have the perks if you've unlocked them previously - as right now they are general perks not character perks. So they're automatically found in all characters bloodwebs.

    Thanks for responding tho!

(BTW, did you see my comment regarding the scratched mirror? Im unsure if the description is incorrect in saying that it gives extra brutality on a score event or if its simply bugged)

I give Designers community feedback on many, many things - however, I keep my personal opinion out of things. When I'm in these meetings I give my opinion based off Community, as I'm not representing myself there, but all of you. I may say what I personally feel, if it differs in any way...but that holds little weight in the decision making processes.

  • @RavenzZ said:

Now I know that there is no real defined "win" in Dead by Daylight. Most (and I think I saw somewhere maybe the devs said) that a win for killer would be 3 kills, for survivors 3 escapes, and a tie being 2 for both sides. I still think that a lot of people classify a win a lot differently though, and I'd like to know how everyone else does classify it. I personally lean towards the amount of bloodpoints being a win. If I escape as a survivor and only make 10k bloodpoints then I see that as me losing, as I wasted time for very little reward, but if I die with 20k+ bloodpoints I see that as a win because even though I died, my time was worth it as I was rewarded more largely. It's another reason why I think that escapes should count for less bloodpoints than they do now, and all in-game actions count for more.

I am most definitely not a competitive player!

My personal goal when I'm playing is how many times I can Deception a locker and get the killer to check it, plus how many Head On stuns in a match - if it's more than 2, that's a win to me. I am not really bothered whether I live or die in a game, I like to get involved and take risks and make those risky endgame saves, I also sacrifice myself for my team mates. My BP even in death is normally 24k or higher, so I'm pretty satisfied with that, and I definitely play for BP more than the escape as a survivor.

When playing killer, it's how many hooks I got more than actual kills. If I've had a fun match and won some good chases, I'd class that as a win for myself personally regardless of the number of kills - I play for chases and if I'm playing a stealth killer some good jumpscares thrown in is just a bonus!

Thanks Mandy. What sort of benefit might be a change you’d think could be good for Luck then if it were up to you?

Personally to me something like Luck thematically kind of implies a bit of uncertainty or randomness but swayed in your favor versus a set in stone benefit. Like a critical hit type thing in an RPG or getting a lucky break on where something spawns, that sort of thing. The tricky thing in practice is what areas of the game are actually conducive to a bit of randomness that can be skewed toward the Lucky player?

I'd actually not have luck as a mechanic at all :) but that's just my personal opinion, I'd rather things more tangible and not left to chance. Whilst I am a fan of map RNG, I'm not a massive fan of things being too random in a game such as DbD where repetitiveness is part of the game.

(going to just add in here, please remember these are my personal opinions - feel the need to add that given that people will jump on what I say).

  • I can understand the thought behind this - thinking of Trapper traps as technically that's his power and he cannot use them by the hook, but I think disabling a killers power completely near a hook that they've been at for 7s is impractical as there are so many ways this can be abused - Myers in T3 for example wouldn't be able to go near a hook - so you'd have "safe spaces" on the map where survivors are protected and that's something that's very abusable.

Also the STBFL comment re toning it down...a lot of that is on the Obsession in the match, it's very visible if the killer is running this perk and has gained stacks, pretty easy from the survivor side to tell - so to reduce the effect the Obsession can quite easily take a hit and cause the killer to lose their stacks that they've built up. There's outplay around the perk, players just do have to consider what perks the opposing side is running in the game and play around them to a degree.

  • My personal thoughts are that I don't like "luck" in DbD, I'd rather something more solid and guaranteed - especially as Luck can only refer to self unhooking at the present time, with the recent bloodweb changes there's now more opportunity to get the good items from the bloodweb so I don't think it should affect items found in the trial (it currently doesn't, nor has it previously). Having luck to dodge a hit, without any skill involved just seems to be counter productive and would lead to more frustration than Dead Hard did prior to it's nerf.

  • I don't really have a problem with this and I've played against a few Weskers with a similar build...they're sacrificing gen slowdown perks to run this and as a survivor you can still judge whereabouts the killer is. The only thing that I find it really affects is healing and item useage.

  • What exactly is happening? If you could provide the steps and screenshot any error codes that would be fantastic, thank you.

(also, if you have this happen, and are on PC - if you could upload your game logs that would be super helpful)

  • We do not take applications for translators here. If you are interested in applying for a position with BHVR, please check on www.bhvr.com/jobs which is where we advertise any positions.

(also please do not bump threads!)

  • We do ban for chat offences as explained in the game rules that have already been linked...there are no chat bans however, these are full on game bans. For a first offence it's normally something like 24hrs (we do not give warnings), and these are on a sliding scale to a permanent ban. However, if something is severe one or more of these steps in escalation can be skipped.
