  • You're allowed to do it any time - The other side doesn't get to tell you they don't "allow" you to do anything. I'd say slugging with 5 gens for no reason is a scummy way to play, but don't get bullied into letting people go just because some random bully squad was salty that they couldn't bully you and got outplayed.

  • CJ's are easily counterable, pretty hard to pull off, and extremely predictable. CJ's are nothing like flashlight saves.

  • If you start out as killer, play 4 games, you will generally win all 4, why? Because new survivors are BAD. There is very little teamwork, most are usually solo-q, and it might be some of their first games. I ask that you play killer until you bring up your MMR enough on a killer to face good teams that have strategy and are actually competent at the game. I promise that you won't win 4 in a row constantly.

It is a LOT easier to start as a beginner as killer because you don't have to rely on a team, you can just go in and learn the game. Once you find survivors that actually use the mechanics of the game to their advantage then you'll really understand, instead of sitting on the forums acting like killer is super easy 24/7.

  • If the gates had been opened then no, but I believe since they as the player can't progress themselves it would be counted.

  • Removing hook grabs wouldn't even really make a difference generally, though I also think that they should completely removed the ability to hit a hooked survivor because I don't know how many times I have hit pretty much completely through the survivor attempting the rescue and hit the hooked survivor.

  • I just had a game where one survivor DCed because they went down early on, and then another DC because I downed them and walked away for a second in an attempt to find the little void thing, all in the same game. Then a game before that I had someone DC because they were the first hook. I don't camp tunnel, hell I didn't have time to camp or tunnel the people in these games because they DCed to quick, and guess what no slowdown perks either.

Specifically picked anecdotes and blind statistics like the ones you're referring to is the reason the game is so messed up as it is. Balancing around who DCs and who doesn't is balancing around the most toxic part of the community of people who will disconnect when they just feel like the game isn't going their way every single time.

It is foolish to say that this is a good way to tell what works and what doesn't, because not every survivor / killer is the same. Some will DC when they go down first or feel like they don't like the killer / perks, some will DC when something silly happens and gets them killed, some won't DC at all. You can't balance around "Who gave up during the game, seems like they know what they're doing!" because that's why there's an unsportsmanlike report button, its unsportsmanlike like to DC. It shouldn't be encouraged and the game DEFINITELY shouldn't be balanced around it.

The survivors that are really bad at the game, that are constantly complaining about solo q because they want their teammates to carry them to victory, won't get much benefit from voice comms because they're bad at the game.

The survivors that are really good at the game will get way too much of a buff if solo q got buffs.

And that right there is the real problem. Adding indicators for what a survivor is doing is fine in my opinion as it doesn't really buff anything just kind of fixes the fact that Solo-Q has nearly no information compared to SWF, but anything past that any Solo-Q buffs will make the actual good players even stronger. The problem with solo-q right now isn't even balance, its just the skill of the players. If a teamate refuses to work with the team there is no amount of balancing or features that can fix that, it will be a bad game for the team, and that's something that I feel not a lot of people realize. Solo-Q can result in terribly unfun games, thats just a fact, but everyone screaming at the devs to fix it can't even come up with a genuine way to do it, only "add indicators" which is a nice feature, but still won't fix the core issues.

  • @ad19970 said:

I don't mind sabo being buffed a bit. It's a strategy that is very rarely ever useful. Not to mention that after dropping a survivor, it will still take them 45 seconds to pick themselves up.

This change might force the devs to take a closer look at hook spawns on some maps though. And Unbreakeable, if it does keep that 100% increased recovery speed, will surely become a big problem.

That's what I'm saying. Without the added bonus from Unbreakable and on a reasonable map it won't be that bad anyway but on a map like RPD where some areas only have one hook that's possible to reach without perks plus the addition of Unbreakable could make some games hell, where its near impossible to actually hook somebody. And I'd also like to add that while I do agree that it is rarely used I don't think that's a reason to not consider it in balancing the new changes.

You might want to save shack pallet for later, or a jungle gym pallet, because they make the loops busted. But all the others, just instadrop them for free distance.

As I had said in my post, I'm never playing spacebar simulator. If I'm healthy and not in any real danger of dying I'm not gonna just throw a pallet for fun, but at the same time I'm not gonna get myself trapped in basement in solo-q just because Rodney has a 20% chance of getting a little distance from that pallet at the end of the game.

  • Your team ALL went down to a Legion while only getting one gen done, seems like you and your team made some mistakes. Also, your entire team is on the ground and you're sitting there doing a generator, I mean yeah stick to gens sometimes but man not that much.

  • Yea I know I combined the two in my mind. Fixed it now finally. Rebecca / Leon, not just the one.

I rarely lose and I typically play Doc or Nemesis. I've been playing for 4 years now, so I'm fairly certain my mmr is more than high enough on them both, though I wish it wasn't. It's very easy to win, but it's not fun to.

I don't play blight for the same reason I stopped playing Legion. It's agonizingly unpleasant to play against.

Ok, playing for multiple years doesn't mean you're going against good people though. You rank resets, not as bad as it used to, but it still can put you back down if you don't play killer enough for a long period of time. There's absolutely nothing wrong with not playing killer if you don't find it fun, but if you don't play a lot then you won't end up with great players. MMR also hasn't been around forever, back in the day it was just 20-1 and the game would try its best to put you with relevant ranks, and so not all of your years of playing are taken into account by MMR.

  • I think it's one of two options:

Option 1: BHVR thinks she's fine, or doesn't want the backlash from nerfing her so she won't be nerfed

Option 2: BHVR doesn't know how to nerf her enough without killing her completely so they're waiting.

Of course I don't work at BHVR so I don't know anything but those are just my guesses, and I think they're pretty reasonable. I'd say after a while of enough complaining she will get a nerf though. I think it would do the whole game good if she could be.

I have played killer. I have to do it for challenges. I do not enjoy it. It's not fun.

I can win almost every game if I want to put forth the effort as killer. I don't want to torment people, so I don't enjoy it. I play survivor with friends or solo for blood points. Once bots come out, I'll never touch a game with random people again.

Ok once again, you play at very high ranks, you're gonna destroy. I'm not saying you've never played killer at all but if you haven't played blight past a couple games then you haven't faced good players. Going back to my example of when I started the game: My first game I loaded up as Hillbilly and absolutely demolished them, it made me think "Wow, killers have it soooo easy, how can they complain? They're just big babies!" and so I went on the forums (steam discussions) and made tons of anti-killer pro-survivor posts, and then I kept playing and as I made my way down in the ranks I realized that playing against competent people sucked. There was the pallet vacuum, old decisive, and everything like that. Of course it isn't near as bad now but the same logic still applies. If you are experienced at the game and play killer, even if you don't do it a lot, you will 90% of the time stomp people in higher ranks.

Killer is not fun. I do not enjoy pulling wings off flies or kicking puppies. You fight people that can't fight back. It's boring.

So you don't play killer.... But you just know how easy it is? Listen man I thought this way when I first started, I was a hard survivor main even back in the 2017 days when the game was most definitely survivor sided, all I can say to you is: Play killer. Don't just hop on one game, play until you get a decent rank and actually face semi-competent survivors that know how to work together. If you don't then you can't really comment on how easy someone is or isn't hard to play.

You mistyped "no counterplay". When you can swing around corners, the only opportunity to juke or dodge his power is gone. It would be one thing if you had to move in a straight line and could be dodged. You cannot.

Swinging around corners does not mean no counterplay, though. Sure you can't just run a corner to avoid him like how you could with Billy but when he dashes he pretty much has to go in a straight line until he gets close enough to swing, and if he can't hit off of anything then he loses his chance to swing at all.

I will play 20 games of DBD today, and in 19 of them the killer will have addons. Probably 10+ of those will be Purple / Greens or more. Talking about these characters base-kits is utterly meaningless because it's trivial to be running addons every single game.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3181716#Comment_3181716

Adrenaline vial got buffed while flask of bleach got nerfed. The meta shakeup helped him WAY more than other killers since he was already broken strong if you are not a boosted ape. Lethal pursuer buff brought back wallhacks blight, etc etc.

There's honestly so many busted builds he can run that it's too many to list out here; and you should NEVER lose to solo Q while playing as him. If you do, you are a trashcan killer tbh

Sure, that's fine, but it's very important to talk about basekit as well because some killers the problem lies in their power, not just in the addons. I definitely think that some of his addons should be nerfed but I'm not asking about addons, I'm asking basekit.

  • @Hensen2100 said:

He's pretty OP, especially when you consider a number of his addons

But DBD is balanced around the lowest common denominator so he will never get nerfed; if anything he recently got buffed while clown got nerfed which is a joke

Ok, but without addons, how is he OP?

And after reading I know not everyone thinks that his basekit is, but you seem to, so I'm just wondering.

Personally, I liked how F13 had different objectives. Sure, you could boil them down to "find thing, go to another location", but it still broke up the tedium. I also liked how it had multiple win conditions that the counsellors had direct control of.

Historically, this community has been against such things, and the devs have (in the past) said they would rather stick with gens being the only main OBJ. That could change, and I hope it does.

As for adding a mini-game to gens, I personally wouldn't be AGAINST it, but they would need to factor in the ability to bail on it at a moments notice cuz the killer is closing in. VHS did this alright with how their crafting mini-games work.

I think they could keep gens as the only objective and still toss up how they work a bit. Maybe different gens require different 'minigame' type objectives and some could even be left as they are now but having some that aren't would definitely help give some variety.

  • Sometimes you have to just commit to a chase. That doesn't mean tunnel the survivor to death and ignore all else but if every survivor is decent at looping then you just have to down them instead of switching survivors unless a good opportunity to slow down gens arises. As you face more and more good survivors you will become better at catching those survivors and balancing between chasing and slowing down gens.

  • As of right now I have Deathslinger but not the full DLC. I think Deathslinger is definitely a decent killer but if I were you I'd just grind out Iridescent shards for it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/346037/point-out-the-facecamper

You do not even know, that facecamping is not possible. Facecamping was an issue in 2016 and got fixed.

At this point it's used as a way to describe a killer who will sit and stare at a survivor until they die, but yes ACTUAL facecamping was fixed long ago and sucked when it existed.

  • If the killer is facecamping or tunneling and instead of doing generators to progress the game, you're standing near him pointing at him, then when you die with no escapes that's not the games fault.

  • I think people say it's trash now because of the new-ish hatch spawning mechanic's where the hatch will only spawn when the last person is remaining instead of before where it would spawn when enough generators were completed.

  • His dashes aren't impossible to dodge. Hug corners, stun him, etc.

  • No, definitely not, but a 3k is a victory for the killer, the 4k does reward with extra points and rank but is not something that will make or break your rank-up unless you did really bad anyway, but is that the survivors fault? I played about 5 killer games yesterday, I closed hatch about 3 times, 2 times I had one person escape. I won all 5 games even with hatch and even then I got a 4k 60% of the time, and at least one of those games it was my fault because I had plenty of time to find hatch and didn’t. The hatch, unlike before, only allows one person to escape through it, if it is making you consistently lose a pip then it’s not about the hatch, it’s about you.

Yeah, don't care. If the killer is being nice enough to let you finish gens and exit the gate - usually because of an early DC or suicide on hook - at their expense of dragging the game out for themselves, and the points from just hooking and sacrificing everyone, maybe if they tell you "no" when you point a beamer in their face, respect that. Maybe don't point it in their face in the first place. Seems like a reasonable and decent thing to do.

Not saying you're doing anything wrong but DC or not I genuinely would rather be steamrolled by a killer than to have one stare at me while I do generators to escape. I play Dead by Daylight to use game mechanics and strategies to escape or end up dying, if my entire game consists of holding M1 then I simply don't want to be included in that game anymore and would rather offer myself as a death than continue playing in the borefest. It's the same with farming killers, I simply would rather play competitively than sit there and have to slowly do generators and throw pallets down one at a time with no real danger involved.

As I said you aren't doing anything wrong by letting people escape if they so choose but while I appreciate the nice gesture of killers that do do this I would much rather still have to play normally or just move on to the next game entirely. I wouldn't say its a "decent thing to do" as I brought a flashlight in to be used, after this game the addons I might have added disappear, I didn't bring it in so that I can be guilted into not getting a bit of use out of it because the killer felt bad. If they choose to tunnel me to death after I blind them then that is totally fine too, it's how I would rather it be.

(Not to mention that its very hard to pip when you're being let escape because you get no healing or any of the other emblems.)

  • @Maelstrom808 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3176695#Comment_3176695

Literally letting them finish the last gens and exit the gates. Like I'm standing 8m away from the last gen they are working on. They ask for permission to work it (crouch up to the gen and look at me, start working on it after I nod to them). Gen pops they follow me to the exit gates, I open them for them and step to the side. They run in and a couple heal up. They all come out to where I'm standing and one offers a toolbox/medkit/etc. Next one comes up and shines his mf beamer in my face. I shake my head "no". He pauses. Then does it again. This is the point where I turn violent again.

Could be for points, could be just being toxic, who knows. As I said I will sometimes blind the killer even though I can easily escape just for the extra BP considering some games I'll bring a flashlight and will get almost no use out of it and want at least a little value from it.

  • This is why the game is so hard to fix for solo-q without making SWF OP and why its so hard to balance SWF without making the solo-q experience even worse than how terrible it is right now. If you're playing SWF and you end up with half of the team dead and multiple generator still needing to be repaired then you've lost, that's your teams fault. However as a solo-q sometimes you will get absolutely screwed over by your potato teammates that bomb-rush the hook, hide for the entire game, or just decide they want to DC. I don't think that punishing the killer by allowing for an easier escape is the right option though, I think making solo-q games more worthwhile whether you escape or not is better. I think there should be solo-q only bonuses that can make playing the game with randoms feel more worth it than just joining a game, dying, and wasting 10 minutes for minimal bloodpoints and de-ranking.

  • I actually don't think it'd be that OP if:

    • A range requirement was added
    • It deactivated after the last generator was completed
    • MAYBE it could have to be activated by doing something
  • Listen as someone who usually tends to agree that BHVR has a hard time balancing the game and tends to favor survivors the hatch is not a problem at all. If you play solo-q you'll notice how sometimes its the only way to escape.

    A few:

    - Survivors that flashlight blind when it's very obvious and they clearly understand you are letting them go. It's like if they have one in their hands, it's simply impossible for them to resist. It's the quickest way to revert me back to an unfriendly killer. Many who simply can't resist after being told no once have found the fast way on to a hook or forced to crawl out the gates while being t-bagged by their teammates.

    - DCs on first hook for no other reason than they were downed. It doesn't matter what killer, how nice I play, nothing. I get one of these about every third game. I can understand somewhat if you are being camped/slugged/tunneled, or if it's a super oppressive killer or build, but to have a tantrum and ruin the game for four other people simply because you lost a chase is just the lowest. I'd rather face 100 clicky-boi buttdancers than 1 of these guys.

    - Survivors that waste my time by never readying up, and do the same by never leaving until the last second even though all remaining Survivors are in the same gate and healed up. It doesn't even have to be a BM thing. Even when it's them showing appreciation for letting them go, to drag it out until the last possible second just irritates me to no end. At least the ones BMing, I can give them a couple of love taps to send them on their way, but the ones who are being nice, I just feel too bad to give em a smack.

For the first one what exactly do you mean by "letting them go?" Like if I bring a flashlight I will sometimes blind the killer even if I'm almost out simply for bloodpoints.

Your analysis of this map can be applied to basically any map. Some pallets are weaker and some are stronger. No, a map cannot be badly designed for both sides. That's actually impossible.

Is there any other reason besides bad teammates or getting the map a lot that make it bad?

I said the map can be unfun as survivor, which I've found it to be especially if you're caught in some areas, but it is worse as killer as I believe at core the map is survivor sided. There are so many loops that have multiple pallets and windows right next to them and can take ages to catch a survivor at depending on which killer you're playing as. I'm really confused where you pulled "It's just as bad as killer as survivor" from in the first place because I never once said that in my original post so it seems like a made up argument. I said it's annoying as both in my opinion, because I overall just don't enjoy playing on the map, but I never said "It's horrible for both equally!" as you seem to think I did.

  • Ok so I think there are two types: The smart, good way; and the toxic, bad way.

The smart way is trying to eliminate people as fast as possible, which can be done one of two ways: You either choose to chase the person who has more hooks if multiple survivors are together, or simply going after the closest survivor regardless of who was hooked last or not, not caring about making it "fair."

The toxic way is chasing someone, ignoring everyone else, and only focusing on one person for the entire time they're in the game. Ignoring generators being popped, walking right past other people who are much closer, and just not caring about whether you win or lose but just about killing that one survivor. Now usually there is one main reason someone uses this method and that is simply because they're bad and are happier with one or two kills and de-pipping than admitting defeat until they actually get good.

Now I am a huge believer in the fact that it is not you, the player's, responsibility to make sure the game is fun for the other team at the cost of you losing and that is why I believe that there is such thing as good tunneling. Sometimes it is only smart to go after someone in order to take them out of the game but there is definitely a line that crosses over into toxic behavior that I believe, while legit, is a scummy thing to do and genuinely makes the game unfun for the other team for no reason other than toxicity which is not a good thing in my opinion.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3168396#Comment_3168396

Well which is it? Is the map horrible for killers or survivors? Because it can't be both, even though many here will try to argue that.

It can definitely be terrible for both. It really varies depending on the type of team you go against as killer, and the killer you go against as survivor. There are a lot of stupid places in the map that favor one side or the other. There are many pallets that are better off being ignored than being used because they're so unsafe but then there are parts of the map that have two pallets and a window that can be looped for a long period of time with little to no risk against certain killers. You act as if a map can't just be purely badly designed and be not fun for any side.

I'd also like to add that I never said it sucked the same amount for both sides, I believe it is more survivor sided but can still be unfun as a survivor especially with how much it is being spammed right now.

  • @Pyrosorc said:

I'm pretty sure it's got an increased occurance rate right now, I get it 50% of games.

Weird that you're finding it to have too many pallets and vaults though, it's been VASTLY killer sided in every game I've tried it on, both as survivor and killer. Unfairly so.

For me there's just a MASSIVE amount of pallets and windows that are side by side. It seems like every single corner has a pallet or window and I've noticed this playing survivor as well. Don't get me wrong I've not lost every killer game or won every survivor game on the map and I really think it sucks for both sides in different ways but as I said in the post it was mostly posted out of anger at the time, though I do still stand by the problems I listed in the post. I'd say the worst thing as far as survivor goes is the amount of completely unsafe pallets/vaults that will kill you more than help you, though there are a couple god pallets on the map so as I said I believe the map sucks for everyone in different ways, especially depending on what perks / character the other side uses.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Not every map has a set layout, but this one does. If y'all are still getting lost around Midwich and RPD, or can't learn the loops, that's on you. Windows Of Opportunity is always an option.

Posted after a KILLER match. Windows of Opportunity is a survivor perk, and knowing where the windows are wouldn't even help me when I have to loop certain tiles at least 3 times, only for another tile to be present right next to it. I'm not sure your point.

  • Ehh no. It doesn't guarantee a kill, endgame is completely nullified if the exit gates are left at 99%, just don't actually open them until everyone is ready to escape. But even if endgame is activated you can still escape with everyone if a rescue is done properly.

Legion popularity has nothing to do with it being boring is historically inaccurate. Everytime a killer gets popular they become op or "boring". Its a fact of games that over saturation of any charater or playstyle bores people. Maybe instead of moaning about an oversaturated killer start adding variety to the game by playing other less popular killers. If none of these killers appeal to you then come up with ideas for killers that would appeal to people.

Legion pives out the fantasy of a killer ramping up in speed and landing multiples hits in quick succession so of course he stands out from the rest of the killer cast.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3156467#Comment_3156467

Ok so you get survivours that want to be chased and yet we still have people moaning about being tunneled. Make up your damn mind. Its like you think every killer should feel obligated to take every chase except the ones that disadvanatges the survivors. This double standard is assinine. Legion plays the way many survivors prefer spreading out damage and never "tunneling" the survivor unless they stand in a dead zone.

Ok, starting off, I prefer playing killer so don't use that "Oh you're just a salty survivor main" stuff on me because I'm far from it. I've been playing survivor more here recently due to having a friend I've been playing with and also the killer's atrocious queue time during the day where I live. I think that Legion players should play in whatever way that gets them the win, if that requires keeping chase that's fine, if that requires running away that's fine too, it's not the other sides job to make sure someone has fun. I was sharing an opinion to see if anyone else agreed, not calling for an uprising against Legion and demanding people play him a certain way.

I'm almost always on the killers side as I believe since release BHVR has had a lot of trouble properly balancing things and has always leaned towards survivors including with the snarky comment that the devs made years ago about how killers "Should play a different game" if they don't like the balance. I don't care how the killer plays as long as they aren't cheating so don't come at me with "You just want to dictate how I play!" because frankly I don't care how you or anyone else plays and that's how it should be. I was stating I find playing against Legion mostly to be unfun, some may find it fun, I don't, I'm not asking for a change to him.

  • @Carth said:

oh, is it time for legion to become the new spirit/Deathslinger? "Not OP but totally not fun! Please gut them!"

Legion has to chase survivors to get a 4k sure, but even if I escape the trial I still don't enjoy playing against him because whether it lets them win or lose most people I go against playing him won't continue a chase for more than a couple seconds before running in the other direction.

In fact its the exact same reason I hate playing with farming killers, I enjoy chases and suspense, when I know the killer is gonna hit me and run the other way I lose the fun.

  • I'm so very confused as to how they tunneled. If you had some sort of video of it maybe they really were tunneling but to me right now it seems like they just made you mad by downing you so you decided to rant about them.

  • I'm not sure the best way to go about reworking his base kit but I definitely think he needs to be buffed at base and addons like tuft of hair and tombstone needs to be completely changed because unlimited tier-3 mori Myers is probably the most unfun thing to play against if you're actually trying to rank up.
