I see no problem with its name. It's not like BBQ and Chilli has anything to do with Barbequeing or Chilli.

The thing is as the player you don't know what totem is what and undying said that will take the first hit every time that means you will cleanse away the undying and then HG.
Undying effectively takes the first hit every time, and with literally every single other Hex perk in the entire game there is no problem with that description of the perk.
However, that's not technically what's happening. When a different Hex totem is cleansed, it gets transferred to the Undying totem and Undying deactivates, as though it was actually Undying getting cleansed. With Haunted Grounds, the effect should still activate even though the totem just got transferred, so long as the totem that was cleansed was one of the two Haunted Grounds totems. It is the same as with the other trapped Hex perk, Retribution. However, Retribution activates when any Hex totem gets cleansed, so even if they truly do cleanse the Undying totem first you still get the effect of Retribution.
-
Because anyone that has ever seriously tried knows that the general behaviour of teammates, mixed with the unintuitiveness of totems and a lack of totem counter, mean that even a dedicated build falls far short. The only way to cleanse 4-5 totems is to get extremely lucky and also be facing a very bad killer, or to be in an extremely sweaty party.
-
Do you mean to say that the generator would regress at 0.31 charges a second instead of 0.25?
-
I hate that it's covering my vision in a big way, I hate that it's not all in one general area that I can glance down to and instantly get all the I do I want, and I don't like that it's using character portraits instead of those adept symbols that that one concept picture had.
Those are my complaints, in order of how much of a complaint they are.
-
The fact that you are using the excuse of "do totems" shows how little experience you have with survivor in general.
-
I hope they haven't reverted the t-bag buff that super sped up crouching, whatever your stance on the ability to use it for BM you have to admit it was ######### hilarious to see survivors wagging their butts at Mach 3

Fair enough

I have been saying it since I read the Dev update. Undying/Devour Hope/Thrill of the Hunt is going to be the new meta on mobile killers like Nurse, Blight, Spirit, Billy, Freddy and even Demogorgon and Hag. Who needs game slowdown when 3 hook in everyone's trying to cleanse totems instead of repairing gens, but the totems take ages and give a giant notification and no matter what it's always Undying that gets cleansed first?
Edit: Dev update, not patch notes.

A few garbage killers being buffed to be slightly less garbage doesn’t make up for the fact that gen control perks in general are now terrible. Corrupt pop has been nerfed, ruin undying gutted.
You may as well just run like 3 chase perks, NOED, and tunnel people because there’s no way you are stopping gens from getting done.
Which is probably what the devs want because survivors could not handle getting stomped so hard no gens got done even though they played poorly and probably had like 12+ second chance perks in a game where the gens can be done in 4 minutes.
I guess some people just want easy wins.

HG requires TWO totems to work. not one.
And if you read what I wrote you would see that there are two totems.

No one denied that clown buff is nothing wraith buff is minuscule because there's often objects in the way so you wouldn't see him anyway
Undying was more of a bad trade it can save a hex once but can keep tokens and they are changing the maps to be more fair every killer hates ormond (wonder why)
Almost like they created loops way too strong (ontop of rng) and are toning them down
The Clown buff is a huge gameplay change that adds and entirely new dynamic to DbD, the Wraith buff makes his power actually consistent, the Undying nerf was a long time coming but was also a massive buff because of Devour Hope, and Ormond is now one of the most killer-sided maps in the game because nearly every single loop got completely decimated. There's nothing left but a small number of very spread out maze tiles and that one god pallet on the second floor.
-
It is rather questionable that a lot of broken toys are being ignored, but I assume it's not because the Devs don't know they're broken. I assume it's because they want to rework them properly and that takes a lot of effort when compared to the perk changes that have been released.
-
It should work fine. Currently, speaking from the experience of watching an already-lit totem as HG is cleansed in the distance, finishing the gen as the timer runs out, and cleansing that so-far unchanged totem only for it to also be HG, the current way it works is that the first totem is broken and shifted to a dull while the second just doesn't change.
This is totally compatable with Undying. Cleanse the HG, it goes off, that totem gets transferred to the Undying totem while the second HG totem doesn't change at all. You just have to hope they cleanse HG before Undying or else Undying really will have done nothing.
Edit: In fact, that's the only scenario in which cleansing Undying first is different to cleansing the Hex it's protecting first
-
Oh, I hadn't thought of that. I hope so
-
I hope you're being sarcastic, and so that is what I shall assume. Nice post, very amusing. But don't forget the Devour Hope buff...
Revenge is sweet.
-
Yes, please do pretend that the Clown change isn't a huge buff or that the Wraith change isn't a decent buff. Please pretend that Undying/Devour Hope isn't a huge buff. And let's not forget the map reworks, all of which have buffed killers in the past by removing obnoxious loops and/or pallet-heavy areas.

It not being a Hex perk would keep it from being destroyed before it actually protects another Hex totem. As of now it can be removed before it has any effect.
Not really a great build tbh. You're fully relying on totem RNG. Might as well use Haunted Ground instead of Undying at that point.
The Undying update means that no matter what, Undying is always cleansed first. That is it's whole purpose. That is the exact same effect that you are describing with the 1 respawn thing.
-
I, too, hate the new UI and think it could have been achieved more comfortably by just making a few alterations to the old one.
-
@Ghoste said:
Imo Undying should no longer be a Hex perk since it does absolutely nothing if it's cleansed first. Just have it be a regular perk that gives you 1 Hex respawn. I mean at this point, why would you not use Thrill of the Hunt instead of undying? At least that gives you a notification and actually defends your totems.
Undying not being a Hex perk would change nothing except give 1 extra dull totem for the aura reading.
And to your second point, you better believe my new Hex build is Ruin/Undying/TOTH/Devour Hope...

I’ve been getting a mixed bag of survivors. They either throw the game completely or it’s a SWF that all split up and try to gen rush. Regardless of the team, I’ve still been loving him. Most people I’m going against don’t seem to know how to loop against him. Which is good for me lol.
I also find that a team playing on mic are annoying to face no matter which killer you are as they will always have the advantage.
I just find it frustrating that almost all of my opponents either know how to play agaisnt Clown (instantly dropping pallets and generally playing very safe) or are terrified of killers in general and so... Well, they instantly drop pallets and play very safe.
Clown is such a fun killer when you get a team that doesn't do that, though, even if they're amazing players that beat you anyway. It's such a nice feeling being such a strong chaser, but because of the sheer variety and versatility of bottles and not some secondary attack.
-
I like playing Clown, but I never really do beyond dailies because I never really go against potatoes. They're always just instadropping pallets, spreading out and doing gens. It's such a bad time when survivors don't play your game because they know they don't have to.
Pretty much every time I go "hmm, Clown time?" I almost immediately put him back on the shelf. That's one toy whose problem is pure and simply holding W and playing safe.
-
Honestly, I ######### love it when that happens to me. It's the greatest badge of honour in DbD, there's nothing that comes close to it. You were so elusive, ran the killer so well, that they dedicated the entire trial to just killing YOU. They accepted the loss with the intent of bitter revenge, dragging you down with them, but you know that you won in the end because you made them lose and they ######### know it. They know it and hate you for it, they hate that they're so mad they threw a trial just to kill you...
You know, I really am a little sadistic.
-
Not cleansing agaisnt Plague is boring AF. There's no fun, there's no excitement, it's just slamming gens and leaving. If you want an easy win, fine, just hope you're not on my team, because I like a little added dynamic to my trials in the form of an insanely strong power with decent counterplay that most people don't get to practice with thanks to the no-cleanse meta.

I have a 1650 with a ryzen 3 3100, 16 gigs. Thats all you need for good fames. You must have like a 1050 ti.
5500 xt and a Ryzen 5 3600, 16 gigs. I know, it sounds like overkill, but I'm seriously not kidding when I say I have massive stutter for the first hour or so of playing DbD, til all the assets are loaded and ready to go. Only game I have problems with, and they're the same whether the graphics are on low or ultra.
Still, not as bad as my year one Xbox one (tried it for a few days about a year ago and my ######### old pre-upgrade PC that had less processing power than the console ran DbD smoother than that. How is console so broken?)
-
I mean, he's not wrong, but also there are a lot of exceptions (people with thousands of hours in the game that still play a whole lot of DbD) and also he didn't really touch the fact that a lot of people seem to give up on it practically immediately (as in after about 50 hours or so, which for DbD is almost nothing even though it's a significant chunk of time)
-
The bigges "oh, shite" is when Oni spots you and goes into his power. The bigges "oh, shite, it's this killer" is probably Hag, because she has plenty of counterplay but she's just so damn strong.
-
There's nothing recent about it, it's been hated pretty much since forever. It's just that the second chance meta screws over basement* so it just exists to ######### over teams that aren't running exactly the kind of build that basement camping killers complain about being OP.
And on the killer side, anyone that doesn't camp basement ######### hates it because it takes so damn long to hook a survivor down there but it also takes up hook spawns so half the time you're practically forced to trudge all the way down just to hook someone, while hoping someone isn't at the pallet, then all the way back out before you've re-entered the trial. Seriously, if I could disable basement as killer I totally would, it's so not worth it unless you're hardcore camping as Hag, Twins or Trapper.
*Edit: to clarify, that's the reason people don't really talk about it: it's insanely situational so you don't often go against it.
-
That must be one hell of a PC, I still have ridiculous stutter til everything in the game has finally loaded
-
I hate that you're forced to do totems but that doing totems is so unintuitive that you're basically relying on luck
-
Oh, that is so ######### awesome of them dude/ette! I really, really hope that DbD on PS5 is enjoyable, I've heard super conflicting stuff but also just who cares it's DbD on a new console that's gotta be a great feeling
-
That is not something that is even remotely limited to survivors, you have no idea how many trials have ended with me and/or a teammate/s getting slugged almost to death before the absolute joy of a killer finally stops shaking their head and hitting random objects to hook them/me/us.
-
I, too, like to watch things burn.
-
I play both relatively equally, but I enjoy survivor a lot more these days. For killer I main Blight, with a decent amount of Legion and a little Plague. For survivor I recently switched from Kate to Zarina.

Ok, so for you the killer situation has not improved at all. Ok.
But has it gotten worse?
Ruin nerf and Nurse nerf was big, sure, but so was the Mettle and DS nerf. Then Maps and clothes were made brighter. Then EGC was introduced. Then maps were reworked to remove all the safe palettes and god loops. Etc.
Sure Ruin was nerfed, but now we have Undying/Ruin instead, which is just as oppressive.
Mistakes for survivors are punished even harder than they used to be, because every map has been reworked to be much harder.
Back 2 years ago Survivors also started genrushing -- it was due to the healing nerfs. Survivors havent genrushed any faster now than they did 2 years ago, and in fact genrushing has been severely nerfed thanks to numerous killer perks and abilities that punish genrushing, along with toolboxes becoming useless.
Honestly, yes, killer has gotten worse as the game becomes more balanced. Everyone else talks about how they only get potatoes, but the the more the game gets balanced the more survivors lean towards slamming generators. Two years ago, killer was much easier by virtue of survivors just not doing their task. Not because of Ruin, not because of broken killers and add-ons, but because survivors didn't have this laser focus on popping gens.
-
Lightburn is outdated and needs removed, Bloodlust is outdated and needs a rework, flashlight and pallet saves are at once too difficult/rare and too punishing or unavoidable (especially with the amount of slugging killers are already forced to do)*, Nurse is a broken, overpowered relic from a time long past, Deep Wounds is about as scary as just being injured normally... There's a lot of stuff that was meant for a different version of the game that's sort of just chugging along.
*Edit: I meant in relation to the current speed of trials, one save can and probably will lose a trial nowadays
-
The shift in cue times happened a little before the Oni release, and it was gradual at first, til Ruin was nerfed, when it jumped massively, and whenever a new killer is released it decreases massively.
And honestly, no, killer is as hard as it's ever been, if not harder. Mistakes are punished more than ever, and a diminished amount of survivor resources on maps has been outweighed by the discovery that holding W is a thing. Maps may be more balanced, but that's countered by the ever increasing fervour that survivors have for generators. A year ago my average trial time was about 15 minutes, now it's around 8.
-
No. The day DbD gets lootboxes is the day I stop playing. They exist to squeeze money out of people in f2p games, not to ruin the experience DbD by suddenly locking everything behind them.
-
Yes. It's just a debuff. T1 moves too slow and has no lunge, which means you ain't looping. And, well, unless you have Scratched Mirror on a small indoor map you aren't getting anything done against any survivor with the slightest experience in DbD.
If you want to play Stealthy Myers, just use Monitor and Abuse. It takes your T2 terror radius down to 8m but otherwise you play as a 115 killer. Honestly, I win more games playing mostly T2 with a single T3 pop for pressure than I do playing the "proper" way.
-
There's a lot of reasons. I wait to see if I'm still needed. Some give the killers hits. Some do it for chase points. Some just like to BM.
-
The problem with Victor's sentry mode is that you have to actively try to not camp people. Shove him between two gens, get the notification, down someone, hook them, wander away for a bit and realise you just hooked them right next to where Victor's chilling and now you're very effectively facecamping someone.
It's so, so whacked that that's even a thing. Not just that it can be done, but the fact that you as the killer have to actively avoid it.

But Victor won't grow a chest cavity for her so she just rides around in his arms hissing at people

The 50k BP average I get from trials says yes. Gods, this game is so grindy.

If you think about it. The Entity could be considered lovecraftian.
Um, yes, that's what I wrote
-
Demogorgon is pretty lovecraftian, as is the entity. Unless by "lovecraftian" you mean the generic insanity-inducing sea monsters, in which case don't hold your breath.
-
It works brilliantly if they have full meta builds. There's nothing the killer can do to stop them, they just have to hope the survivors screw up massively AFTER using up all of their second chances. And on teams like that, that's about 16 second chances, not including the repeatable use of Dead Hard. So yeah, you could say that it's effective.
-
I remember that I accidentally reached rank 1 one month without even trying to pip (or paying attention to my rank til someone pointed it out) just because I happened to be playing a fair bit with perks that nudged me into using a pip-farming playstyle. That usually helps me stop caring about rank when the twinge starts, but I doubt that little story will help you directly til you have an experience of your own like that.
As for killer, I just think about the fact that you can rank up as Legion with one kill but black/depip as Plague with a 12-hook-4k.
-
You played perkless Wraith, a contender for weakest killer in the game, using Hit-And-Run tactics, a contender for most outdated playstyle in the game, with two perks that would have barely done anything to actually help you, Bamboozle and Deathbound. Not a recipe for success.
Slowdown perks, and I'm including Sloppy in that catagory, are essential. Ridiculously strong ones are essential for very weak killers, like addonless Wraith. However, the stronger the killer gets the less you need ridiculous slowdown and the more you benefit from snowball-enabling tracking perks.
-
Survivor? No, probably not, I don't see how that could logically work. Dude/ette would have to somehow gain the knowledge of both engineering and mutual cooperation with complete strangers.
Caveman killer, though, wouldn't need any if that
-
Plague. I had to drop her thanks to dedicated servers. Would still be maining her now if not for robbed hits.
Deathslinger. Was a slinger main til Blight's release, played a solid month of Blight and just lost my Slinger skill and couldn't get it back.
Hag. Too simple, too easy. It's like playing chess, sure, but against someone that's only ever played checkers. So few survivors ever do well, and even then I can usually do better.
Ghostface. Busted reveal mechanic, add-on dependency and meta shift. Plus I kinda got bored.
Spirit. First killer I ever played, still have a soft spot for her. I like her playstyle of going invisible and hunting down survivors based on environmental ques and guesswork, but I don't like her playstyle of taking away all info and just 50/50ing loops.
