Kinda agree, at the same time this might pressure the devs a bit more, having it out in the open instead of keeping it "hush hush"

more time consuming and costly? sorry but you have to send me some links etc to let me know where you got that from.

It's not actually. While the PS4 itself has been "hacked" ... it only works for very old OS build as any/all hacks are patched out with new releases and you'll need to keep that console offline to prevent it from updating. Regardless, that won't work with MP games due to the encryption. The Xbox is solid in this regards. I don't think it's been hacked at all yet. It's mainly done on console for piracy anyway.

  • I own the game on PS4 Pro, Xbox One X and PC. Plus I've paid for the rift on two platforms simultaneously each time it releases and have almost every chapter/character unlocked with cosmetics across all three platforms always paying with cash. I've put real money into this game over the past 3 + years I've played it. I just want the match making fixed and working like it used to (for now). I've paid for a product that I would like to work more then it doesn't.

  • What makes matters worse (at least on console) is that you can wait up to 10 minutes to find a match to begin with. So when this happens it really sucks. We had a rank 17 player in our group, who was good, but because of his rank we were getting matched against rank 17 killers or closer while we are red ranks. So we stopped playing with them and got another red rank player, yet killers are still green or even yellow ranks most of the time.

I'm constantly de-pipping from 1 to 2 because of how quickly the matches are completed and because the killers are much higher rank. They need to open up console crossplay. It's really bad now and the wait times have me, and others, not wanting to play anymore.

  • It literally depends on platform, region, day and time of day. I played yesterday (solo) on PC was getting into matches within 15 seconds. I was rank 15 and finished at rank 10 without any delay throughout. It was always fast.

I switched over to PS4 later in the afternoon and played with friends in various states at rank 1 and it was taking up to 10 minutes and we played until 11pm PST. I'm in N.A. and console matchmaking has been really bad and has been bad since dedicated servers were implemented even at higher ranks where that was never a problem.

When they temporarily disabled Xbox servers and it was PVP again, it was quick as well. When they went back to dedicated, the wait times returned.

Personally, I think dedicated servers are killing the game on console and I would rather have laggy matches every now and then, versus the 10 minute plus wait times. Since PC is not as bad, I don't see this being too much a problem, but console players will not support or play this game if it continues to take forever to play.

  • Unless there's a matchmaking bug with dedicated servers, it's definitely dying on console. It's taking far too long to load into a lobby as survivor. No MP game should take upwards of 10 minutes to find a lobby on PS4. When it used to be almost instant. Balancing aside, that is not sustainable in the long term. Killer takes 3 seconds, but there's a good chance you're getting matched against low rank survivors due to the matchmaking issues and that's not fun either if you're new to the game.

I was sold on the "season pass" and now question the value or the time to grind since it takes forever to play a game. That needs to be fixed immediately. I really think it's the location of the servers too. When they disabled dedicated servers on Xbox recently finding lobbies was much faster w/ PVP now it takes longer, but not as long as PS4 where the game was free for a month and home to over 100 million players.

PC is hit or miss, mostly hit, when it comes to finding lobbies fast. I really have no issues there and if console does die, I still have PC.

All that aside, the main problems with the game are balancing SWF w/ solo players and rank based matchmaking. It's all over the place. I find myself playing SWF over solo now and we are OP as a team. Also, and despite the long wait times, we are being matched with players at much higher ranks (more then usual) and those poor killers are easily destroyed. Even the campers. I can't imagine they'll want to continue playing much longer after that. Which is probably why there are more survivors then killers on PS4.

The fact this game still works is astounding as from a MP perspective this game is a mess. I get they need to keep the revenue coming in and why they focus on adding new content, but if they don't fix the core problems with the game, the other platforms will die completely. The only thing they have going for them in all of this is no one has stepped up to compete directly with them.

  • Freddy is a very popular character and was reworked because most players simply couldn't play as him. He was hard for a reason.

I mained him for a while and only had problems in purple and red ranks because SWF teams worked the hook much better knowing it took longer to put them to sleep.

  • This is exactly how most season passes work. As long as you play, you will unlock the currency to continue to play for free. They aren't re-inventing the wheel here, just going along with a proven model.

The only difference between this and Modern Warfare (outside of genre) is you don't have to wait 10 minutes to find a match on console. If they don't address this, NO ONE will be buying a Rift Pass as you won't be able to complete it, even if you wanted to.

DBD is not a graphically intensive game. I could barely handle looking at the choppy framerates on my Xbox One X and went back to playing it on PC.

Then you jump over to Apex, which has graphics so good it's almost like real life, and the framerate is smooth as butter. It's just a bad port.

I didn't say it was a graphically intensive game. However, DBD is a GPU resource hog which both Xbox One and Xbox One X simply lack. I also have it on PC and can run it at Ultra with zero issues and don't experience any choppy framerate issues on Xbox One X. Game runs fine.

  • The base Xbox One is very weak and outdated hardware. That's just how it is. However, the Xbox One X version looks and plays much better. It's almost night and day.

  • Maybe next year for console/PC once the Xbox Series X and PS5 release and have enough players. Keyboard and mouse is not an advantage at all, but PC running at 60fps is . . They need to get console cross play up and fast. If I was a new player I would be really put off by the long wait times. It can take over 5 - 10 minutes to find a match as survivor on PS4 and Xbox One in NA. While playing Killer takes seconds. That's a huge problem right now.

  • I played SWF last night for the first time in 3+ years. We played against killers ranging from 6-20 and destroyed almost all of them. We had two great players and two good players in our party most of the night and it wasn't fair or even close most of the time and the lower rank (6) meant nothing except more unhooking bloodpoints. Except for one time, we always escaped and we never were toxic to the killer.

This is why the game is not balanced and why it will never be balanced. Communication between survivors is a huge advantage and you can't perk that out unless it's known upfront. You can't expect killers to be fair or balanced either in the anticipation that there are solo players in the match, which is how I normally play.

For years BHVR and everyone on the various social media platforms have been coming up with ways to fix the game and to-date, nothing has worked and nothing will work until you separate the modes with Solos/Duos/Quads.

  • I've been saying this for a while. I know BHVR is doing everything they can to balance the game, but here we are talking about the same things. Buff this, nerf that ...etc. The bottom line is that you cannot balance a game placing players who can communicate with players who cannot. It's not going to happen. It hasn't happened. The only way they can truly balance this game is to make solos, duos and quads their own mode.

I played killer for a year before switching over to survivor as I liked the challenge of trying to survive more. But I know killers would love to be able to play their game without having to deal with SWF groups or pairs. It would cut down on camping and tunneling. I've been playing for 3 years, and I can't imagine how a new player feels picking this game up. Especially on consoles where it's a camp and tunnel fest in the higher ranks 15 -20.

This is one the few multiplayer games I really enjoy playing by myself. BHVR has created and improved the atmosphere of the game so much and not being able to communicate just adds to the experience and creates a sense of terror and as you put it, makes it better for killers. I get it some people need to have help, while others just like to play with their friends. Give them their own mode and let us play the game they way they intended.

  • SWF can be a fun mode with friends; I get that; however it completely changes the dynamic of the game and should be its own mode separate from solo. All the balancing in the world is never going to fix the problems with this game as long as players who can communicate with each other are matched with players that cannot. It’s year 3 and it’s the same issues being discussed over and over again.

It’s really that simple and instead of addressing the issue, we get nerfs and buffs and neither side is happy. Ever. I get that some people aren’t good at these games and need to play with other players, and some just want to play with their friends. But the majority of the toxic behavior stems directly from SWF.

They don’t just grief killers either. They will also grief their teammates by leading the killer to you to save their friends or will simply leave you on the hook or disconnect when one of their team gets tunneled and hooked. So instead of BHVR chasing their tale trying to balance the game, address the elephant in the room and fix that problem. The rest will work itself out.

  • Camping is not cheating. Using mods or lag switches to gain an advantage is cheating.

  • I’ve always been one that has called for more 2x bloodpoints events because they are few and far between, but after this weekends event ... if I never play during another one again it will be too soon.

  • @ShamefulKing - I’ve never seen it that bad. I only had one lobby with 3 other prestige 3 players and the killer dodged it.

Hopefully Steam isn’t as bad. I don’t think I can play on Xbox until they fix it. Ghostface is crushing new players and it’s just not fun for me. Especially when they’re running Hex’s ... these players have no idea what to do. The irony is that no one has disconnected .. so at least there’s that. 🤣

  • Every game I've played on Xbox tonight had me ranked with the killer (12) and matched with teammates that are ranked 18 and above. The matches don't last 5 minutes before they are all downed and hooked and it has literally become a race to the hatch before Ghostface can tag me and down me instantly.

This is by far the worst I've seen it on Xbox in 2 years.

  • They should take away bloodpoints from killers that camp who are not engaged in a chase at the hook. Also, it would be negated if the gen number to repair is below 3 and they are near the hook. Nothing you can do about that.

camping is what it is ... but killers shouldn’t be rewarded for it. I mean we get penalized if we don’t get two off the hook. Hit them too.

  • Taking away blood points isn’t enough. They need to start implementing 24 hour bans for repeated abuse and make that stackable.

IIRC they hinted at a report system that we can use to report this in recent stream. I can’t play 3 matches without someone’s dc’ing on PC.

  • That's the beauty of having this game on 3 platforms. When one turns to #########. I play on another and so on.

  • @Mochan said:

It is just plain laziness on the part of BHVR. It takes all of 5 seconds to post whatever official announcements you have here or in the game and copy it into Steam. If you don't have a community manager handling the Steam Forums, for goodness' sake get one. Or get your PR team here to take 5 seconds out of their day to post the same updates on Steam.

    This is not hard.

It's not the 5 seconds it takes to post, but the minutes/hours that would be needed to reply. Otherwise they'll get called out for that too.

This isn't just a steam only game. It's on all platforms and is coming to Switch later this year. You don't waste resources on other platforms that you do not control. Which is why these forums exist.

  • Congratulations, you're now part of the problem you called out!

  • @Oooooof said:
Why even ask for this? What killer wonna play against swf? NO ONE! And then swf teams CAN'T find lobbys and what will happen so? They can't play with their friends and leaves the game.

    Thanks for making my point.

  • @HazeHound said:
Again, very few killers would queue into this mode. Maybe if it gave more bps or shards.

Maybe, but more players would be enticed to play as the toxicity level would be greatly reduced without them in the game. That's what real balancing is all about.

Again, The toxic behaviors starts and ends with SWF.

  • @HazeHound said:
Well you are wrong on this, if swf would regurarly face killers like TheEntityLeftHand they would learn very fast to queue up alone. I hate swf but sometimes its just way more fun to play with friends. Removing swf you remove big chunk of players and it will make people dodge even more bcoz they will try to play together anyway making lobbies even worse.

I did not say remove it. I said make it it's own mode. The toxic behaviors starts and ends with SWF.

I was looking forward for them to give all survivors Kindred and then start balancing the game based on that every game has SWF. Not sure what happened to that lol.

That's, again, where balancing gets screwed up. Never assume, know what your player base is doing.

If this game was SWF only where chat was mandatory, I would have never bought it. You don't need it to win. I get there a lot of players who need it to win and some just enjoy playing with friends. But the cons far outweigh the pros here. This community is toxic mainly because of SWF.

  • @HazeHound said:
Very few killers would queue in this mode. How about making swf facing better killers?

The current matchmaking and ranking system is not working well as it is ... so that wouldn't work.If very few killers would que in this mode, then it makes even more sense to remove it completely. Playing on PC now, I see how many more people are doing it.

  • @Saint_Ukraine said:
The only way for everything to actually be balanced, in terms of swf vs solos, is to add an in game voice chat system.

That's one way, it's not the only way. Solos, duos and quads isn't a concept I invented. It's quite popular in all multiplayer games ATM.

  • Just stick with what works for you. They aren't designing killers specifically for players like you or your play style. If they did, all killers would be the same. What works for you might not work for another player and vice versa.

  • BHVR is doing everything they can to balance the game. Yet they ignore the one facet of this game that no amount of perk balancing can correct ... SWF. It needs to be it's own mode. Separate it into Duo's and Quads and be done with it.

  • I always say gg win or lose unless the killer camped the hook like you do. Then I just say nice camp ... gg.

Clearly you all won’t be happy until there is a perk that lets you see survivors until the match ends. BVHR will never be able to balance the game with this many bad players.

And some survivors are so bad at the game that they depend on ds and insta heals.
Survivors cannot inflict damage on killers outside of dropping a pallet and even then it’s just a stun. Good Killers have the advantage and use it. Bad ones do not.

You mean like SWF provides survivors at all times with info when they can repair even against killers whom they'd normally have to be afraid from?

SWF ruins the game and should be a separate mode. I’ve never used it and when I post it’s from the mindset of a player that doesn’t need training wheels to play this game.
  • You want to stop camping ... increase generator repair speed when a killer is in proximity to the hook and not engaged ina chase. Problem solved.
  • Played against a Freddy that used Knock Out. We were able to get it down to one gen, but he was able to pick us off one by one as we tried to keep each other alive. It was one of the most thrilling matches I ’ve ever played. He hooked 2, and let 2 bleed out.  Freddy’s not a bad killer ... he’s just not for everybody.

  • I would make SWF a separate mode and hold monthly Bloodpoint events to entice new players.

  • you might want to uninstall now.

  • I had 4games last night where the killer wanted to farm on PC. While I'm not complaining as a new player to PC and in need of BP ... I've never had that happen on console.

It's an issue at all ranks, I'm afraid. If anything, it gets worse at high ranks.

That sucks, but TBH I'm loving 60fps and the much improved graphics over consoles right now to let it bother me too much.

  • They should test that theory and make it separate for a week and see how well it does.

  • Ranking in its current state is pointless. On consoles, it takes forever to find a match at lower ranks and its the only way to de-rank without screwing over other players by disconnecting.

  • @Mullato said:
Hmm, I think I'm like rank 12 atm on ps4. I have no problems finding solo lobbies, but the killers keep dodging for some reason.

If you pop in at the same time with other players killers still think you're SWF and will dodge. That happens a lot.

Lol. People are praising devs for removing something they should not have put in a game in a first place.

    Like SWF.

They put in SWF because there was a demand for it. There's many that got into DBD to play with friends and there's many that would leave if SWF was removed. It wouldn't be a good thing for the game's community to take a huge hit like that. It'd honestly be better to balance the game around SWF than to just remove it.

They actually recently came out and said SWF was always intended and wasn't added because of demand.

And i always think people who constantly complain about SWF are just bad at the game anyway, they are still kill able, just because that one survivor that looped you the entire game is in an SWF doesn't mean he wouldn't have ruined you in a solo match.

    Too many bad players.

You got that backwards … people who play in groups are bad at the game. That's why they group together. Their strength is in their numbers, not their skill. It's why they ALWAYS disconnect then they are given a taste of their own medicine. They are the reason killers camp. I wasn't singling out you, but clearly I hit a nerve. Solo players are much better then SWF players.

You can't talk about a group of people and use words like "always" and generalizations like that. SWF can be annoying if they're the bullying, toxic sort, but not all are toxic and not all are bullies. Honestly having rank "20" SWF who clearly aren't rank 20 are more of a reason for killers camping and that's related to cheating, smurfing and deranking. Killers aren't allowed to freely practice the game without getting paired with people who are looking to bully and pick on. I honestly do both solo and SWF 'cause I like playing with friends and chit chatting and stuff. I'm not the toxic sort, though. I don't teabag and I often play worse in a group 'cause I'm talking or a little more relaxed. With solo, you don't know if you'll be saved, so you try to avoid getting caught. When you're playing with a friend, at least they might get out.

It is the majority of SWF players that do it. Especially in the lower ranks. I'm talking rank 10 and below. It's really bad and I play survivor main. I apologize if I offended you or your play by my comments. That was not my intention.

No, you're fine. You're just expressing a perspective. I personally think the issue is that they get away with it and not them being SWF. That sort of stuff is probably hard to regulate, though. I can understand how draining it could be to get a lot of toxic players who seem to have an upper hand 'cause they're on coms. I heard somewhere that SWF is typically more altruistic and there's always a weaker one among them. Since I'm nothing but a newbie killer, I don't know how to deal with them, but I see a lot of guides online with good tips on how to play tiles and also how to play against SWF.

There is always one good one among them. That player is typically the ones that lead the killer on an endless journey to uninstall the game while the other two work on gens. If you're not in that group and you get hooked, chances are they're not coming for you. That's not all the time, but it happens a lot. Or they intentionally lead the killer to you to save their friend. Again, not all the time, but a lot.

Being able to chat fundamentally changes the game on both sides … and it should be separate. At least w/ F13, they did it correctly. Chat was there, it was up to you to use it. Here, you're mixing chat and non chat and it's counter-productive.

I'll say a lot of times it's the nice one that gets camped, too, if people are being toxic and they just happen to catch you. xD I honestly think the survival points should be reworked to reward everyone getting out so that you don't get people not caring (as much at least) if no one but them get out. I see this from DS users a lot. They'll gloat over being the only one to exit out the hatch or out the door and it's like "that's not a win, though" and there has literally been matches where nearly everyone got out, but then NOED and instead of trying to get saves or totem, he runs out like a puppy with his tail between his legs.

Well, they need to implement for talking features for solo play and balance killer around that tbh. That's one of the weaker parts of solo play. You don't want to get downed 'cause you can't say "come for me." Flailing your arm could mean anything. Features and what could be done has been discussed. It's just a matter of them seeing it and doing something with people's ideas.

I agree with that. It really should be all or nothing. Meaning chat for all or separate it. I'm all for using a button for quick chat, however the killer should be able to hear it in order for it to be fair. It's a tough call to make. You are drastically changing the dynamic of the game when you introduce chat. F13 stopped being fun and more importantly scary when people were just saying stupid things to Jason and he would play along. Which never happens here. Ever.

This game can be terrifying to play. I had a few matches against Myers last night where there were legit jump scares. That would never happen if players could tell me he was coming. Some people need that info. Me, I prefer the challenge of not knowing where the killer is and having to survive by instinct. The tension is real. Which SWF does not offer at all. It's easy mode vs hard.

However, players knowing what to do without communication was always something I really loved about the game. It's what drew me to it. Of course there are some people who take the win too seriously and won't help out enough, but generally most get it without a mic. I would rather they offer two separate modes and that way everyone is happy. Until dedicated servers are ready, SWF can also play hell with matchmaking.

Well, I mean more in the terms of what Identity V does where you can send text messages to the others, but nonverbal communication options are good, too. I'll be real, I don't want to hear a 10 year old screeching in my ear while I'm playing. I say it more because it's hard to communicate specific things to other survivors if you aren't on comms and can often be your downfall. I kinda wish you could reset the hex totem once it's found if there's totems left. I feel that would be a good way to address SWF telling their friends where it is.

Do you ever SWF? Like half the time they won't even mention when the killer leaves them. I forget, too. I have perks to detect that. It can get quite spooky, though. And quite thrilling and tense. It isn't always easy mode. If you're playing with the best of the best, sure it could be easy, but everyone makes mistakes and killer is in a good spot to capitalize on those mistakes. It'd be awesome if survivors got more complex tasks, though, as objectives. Gens are boring.

Honestly what drew me in was that I like spooky things and it looked like a lot of fun to run around, solo or with friends. I actually watched someone stream it for about a year before I caved and bought it 'cause I really wanted to play it and they made it look like so much fun. I think it'd be better to buff solo play so that it's as good as swf and buff killers so that they can address both. We also need to nerf some things about SWF like how it rounds out the numbers and maybe address the use of perks within the group.

I know, F13 on PS4 was squeaker central ... Every public match we'd get at least one and since DBD was free to over 30 million subscribers on Plus it would be a ######### show. The price you pay for being on the #1 platform I guess. Lots of kiddies.

I have played SWF and it reminded me of F13. It's not scary at all. It can be fun. Which is why I would like to see two separate modes. It's probably why they haven't made any changes … they understand this will change their game forever moving forward.

  • They need to run events every month. This game needs new blood badly on consoles and it really helps newer players to level up and stay in the game.

Dude I am not gonna get into this SWF arguments etc. but the reason why people group up together is not because they are bad at the game but want to have fun time with their friends.

Some people have friends and play multiplayer games to spend their time with their friends. At best estimation less than 10% swf groups are swf because they want to win the game. The sole reason for the rest of the 90% people who play SWF is to spend time with their friends while playing their favorite game.

When are we going to stop this lack of skill=SWF argument. It doesn't make sense.

That's fine, I get that. Let SWF be it's own thing. Toxicity aside, it serves no purpose being grouped with solo players.
