  • Solo survivor is without a doubt the most challenging way to play the game now. It's not even close. You have to deal with good and very bad killers as well as good and very bad teammates. You have no idea what you're getting until the first chase.

There is no way to balance that with perks. It's a waste of time. The only way to handle this is have solo only queues or implement a voice chat so all players can communicate.

  • There needs to be normal and ranked modes with solos/duos/quads queues. No trios as it throws off the lobby balance.

That alone would help improve the matches and allow for more casual fun play, like it used to be. Hopefully it can help take the stress off of killers who can't compete against a lobbied-up teams. THAT was the intention from the start. NO COMMUNICATIONS.

Also, we have enough killers and players in the game and not enough maps. Stop adding more (perks) until you properly balance what is there. Take a few chapters off like Ubi did with Rainbow Six to balance the game. It literally reinvigorated that community and has been thriving since.

I get that new DLC drives revenue, but how about making your season passes more appealing. Get rid of the charms (they are useless) and start adding 2XP tokens, shards, and skins that actually look cool .... you know, things that actually entice players to pay and will impact gameplay.

And stop listening to streamers. I've watched many of the "top tier" streamers and they are ass at most other MP games. So, their input is counter-intuitive to balancing as they have no idea what it takes to properly balance a MP game. Let alone this one.

At this point, the only question is will Texas Chainsaw be good enough to take players away. The beta was so much fun ... but, in reality, so many have tried and failed. However, Gun already did it once with Friday the 13th ...

  • You can't win them all cupcake ... If you're blaming other players for your poor play, CLEARLY you aren't as good as you think you are...

If that's on PC just imagine what our precious Switch cousins are getting!

I forgot about those poor bastards. I've haven't played against a Switch killer in a long time. It was brutally obvious too.

  • There are a lot of fans of the RE series (even 5) and with Wesker, he's easy to pick up and play. That's just how it is with any killer.

  • DBD has always been a GPU resource hog on PC has been in desperate need of proper optimization since day one.

The best guaranteed way to play is on PS5, followed by Xbox Series X. For whatever reason the game loads much faster on PS5.

  • I don't think Sony or Microsoft is to blame here. COD, Fortnite, Destiny 2, Diablo IV (to name a few) all have cross-progression and with Destiny 2 they added it well after the fact.

So, there is no reason to not have it with DBD outside of BHVR not wanting or knowing how to do it.

^ person who has only played dbd their entire multiplayer career. Geez.

DBD is the exception NOT the rule.

You don't get penalized and forced to wait out a timer when you leave a game because of incompetent teammates or low-skilled opponents. Killers cried, like they do with everything else and that is why it is what it is.

BHVR made it so you can see us doing practically anything during a match. They've nerfed, gen repair speed, healing, decisive, dead hard how much more do they have to do before you all learn how to play?

  • Put them in the rift and give people a reason to pay for it and get rid of those stupid charms.

  • I can't change your mind if you're not good at something that is simply the way it is.

  • Have you seen the challenges in the Archives? BHVR doesn't care about toxic game play. In fact, they encourage it.

The smart call would have been to implement solo/duo/quad lobbies. But here we are, the same debate over and over again with the end result being the game will never be balanced.

  • While I love the graphic changed to Haddonfield, the map itself is very small and needs more trees. It's too open.

  • @DWolfAlpha said:

Might have something to do with the fact that on Console those are the only killers that come with the game. Every other killer is DLC.

Console players do not have a problem whatsoever spending money on DLC, cosmetics etc...

  • If anything this update will definitely encourage more people to play as killer. Survivor lobbies aren't taking as long. So there's that.

I haven't played killer regularly in years, but have gone back now. Not because it's easier, (it always was) but because I still want to play the game and playing as a survivor is a miserable experience right now. We've all had issues that make us want to take a break. But between the hitboxes and de-piping, (at least for me) If not for killer, I would have stopped entirely. It's just not fun.

  • I doubled pipped and still lost a pip. You can only de-pip right now. This game is really messed up right now.

  • LOL ... Dodge a lobby as a survivor. That's a good one considering how long it can take to actually get into a match the past year.

  • Now that PS5 and Xbox Series X can do 4K at a rock solid 60fps the advantage is not as big anymore. This is as close as you're going to get. Last gen console players will still be at a disadvantage over lower framerate and performance issues.

But make no mistake about it, a good killer using a mouse and keyboard against a controller will almost always win that battle.

  • It's skill siding, If you lack skills you will lose. Period.

  • DC penalties should be removed from the game until devs figure out how to deal with actual crashes first and foremost. The way it's set up now is just not well done. I'm on PS5 and unfortunately the game has crashed because devs don't have a full grasp of the hardware yet. So I shouldn't be penalized because of their code.

Killers should not get any additional bloodpoints for DC's. While I've not done it intentionally. Nine out of ten times I totally see why and agree with the player that did it. Again, really bad killer camping out and tunneling a player.

  • With Mori's nerfed, unskilled killers are just tunneling and camping even more now. I just can't comprehend how bad these people are at this. It's literally not that hard to play as killer if you put the work in. Yet you all struggle to do the basics while ruining the experience for everyone else just so you can get a 4K.

I've never played toxic in almost 4 years, but last night after back-to-back-to-back matches against these god awful players who have no business being near my rank, we'd had enough and played as toxic as humanly possible towards these killers. If that's what the developers intended ... great job. Perhaps it's time for the Devs to allow for blood points to be earned in Kill your Friends so these scabs will stay far away from multiplayer.

  • For the record, I think Moris and keys should be removed from the game. But this was not a lazy nerf.

As it stands right now, finding a match as a survivor can take a long time (again) and there's nothing worse than waiting 10 minutes to be matched with a low skilled player who either moris you or your teammates out of the game. I would rather wait longer to play against someone who is actually skilled at the game, then play against a bad player who obviously camped their way to red ranks.

There's absolutely nothing fun about that and if I'm not at least having fun what's the point in playing?

I really wish BHVR would stop developing new characters and focus solely on fixing core issues and of course improving maps and adding more locations. I can only speak for myself, but as someone who plays across multiple platforms daily for almost 4 years, the list of unique killers I typically play against is growing smaller each day and some killers I never see anymore.

  • Without DS no one would play anymore. There are just far too many unskilled players playing killer right now that can't win unless they camp, tunnel or mori.

If they can't/won't optimize it for consoles, they shouldn't have released it on consoles. As is, the game should run at least decently. Instead, there are maps I just afk on as killer because it feels miserable trying to chase on them right now.

If you want to have that debate, fine. However, now I would agree with you. I think the game should be better optimized across the board. Unfortunately, there's only so much THEY can do with that hardware and with PS5 out of stock, it's going to be a while before Playstation only players can see the benefits of the new hardware.

It absolutely isn't a hardware issue.

I can play really great looking games like good of war or the witcher without ANY frame drops.

Even games like overwatch that have a LOT of effects and abilities happening on your screen at the same time doesn't drop frames.

    It's just non existent optimization.

It absolutely is a hardware issue. The fact you can play "GOD OF WAR" on a Playstation without any frame drops has nothing to do with how this game runs on last gen hardware.

Regardless, that game was designed specifically for PS4. This is a PC game that was ported to consoles. Had they developed for PS4 from the start, you'd have a point. They didn't and you don't.

  • I agree. Personally I think this game has enough killers right now and more than enough perks for survivors to work with that instead of working on new characters, they need to take a pause and start balancing what they have and that includes maps.

In the meantime, they can keep working on new outfits and hold more DB events to keep players playing.

The events are spread too far apart. In fact, they should be holding at the very least a double blood point weekend every month. DB events always attract more killers and cut down significantly on queue times for survivors which are very long. It also helps newer players build their blood webs up and we need newer players.

I view the rift as their Battle Pass and there's not enough there to even care. They are giving away shards for Christmas when those types of things should be in the rift and bloodpoints as well. The killer trinkets are cool for the hooks, but the survivor trinkets are useless.

I've been playing for almost 4 years and have bounced around from Xbox to PC to Playstation and have spent money on this game I still love playing so it's disheartening to see this game go to places that don't make any sense or leave any room for real growth.

  • All last gen hardware isn't powerful enough to handle the game. Never was. That includes the Pro and the X. Even more so now with the map reworks.

While my PC handles this game just fine, it still eats up a lot of my GPU resources for some reason. But on PS5, it runs silky smooth and locked to 60fps while looking clean and crisp in 4K. I would think the Series X looks just as good. You need to upgrade your hardware when stock is there as it isn't going to get any better.

  • If you're a really bad killer, it's the only option you have. It's why we bring in Decisive Strike. That and Mori's.

It's one thing to have a killer be brought to your hook when you're being taken off, it's another when they break off a chase halfway across the map to come back to the hook. There just aren't enough skilled players playing killer sadly.

  • You hit the nail on the head. Good killers don't rely on or need bloodlust. That's the problem with this game, there simply aren't enough good killers or people willing to put in the time to get good. Since it was added, the game has changed. There are other perks that can help offset the loss.

If you miss or need it that much use Fire Up.

  • I agree that the penalty is trash. But not for this reason. Over the past few days I've had my game crash on a PS4 Pro and a PS5 many times and have had to wait out the timer each time. Those instances were not my fault and I should NOT be penalized for it.

While I hate farming, I just do it and get through it and leave.

  • I've been playing for almost 4 years and feel this game has improved tenfold. Can it be better, absolutely. Will they continue to improve it, yes. However, they have to work with the player base and unfortunately that's not going to make everyone happy.

Developing a game like this is not a simple task. BHVR has to take into consideration player skill levels or lack thereof and strike a balance that works for everyone. When Freddy first released, I was perfectly fine with his design. But most weren't. BHVR listened to community and made him more accessible for a wider audience. This happens with a lot of MP games when they first release. Developers have to adjust difficulty to accommodate lower skilled players.

Which sucks because instead of working to get better at the game, people tend to complain about designs that simply don't fit their play style and want it changed so it does. Which can hurt a player who could have benefited from a new killer that worked better for them.

Video games are competitive business and the fact that DBD has no rival after all these years says a lot about the state of the game and their dedication to improve it.

  • I get that most players simply can't afford to pay for skins. In some cases they aren't cheap. So, it was a great "concept" to allow them to grind for via shards. However, there's really no reward for those of us who actually subsidize the game.

The rift seems like a great start to put a lot of stuff in there, but it's loaded with useless charms and costumes. As someone who plays multiple games with "battle passes" this is one of the worst in terms of rewards. I looked through the rift last night and there is literally nothing in there that entices me to get the pass and I've purchased every one.

I'd like to see more rewards and content geared towards those of us who actually spend money in the game. Please consider upping the ante in the rift.

  • When I play SWF, we have a good team and will win most of the time. However, we do face killers at lower ranks (red) who are just beasts at pressuring gens and playing smart and will either get us all or 3K.

For killer, this game is 100% about the map and gen locations. Which is out of our control. If you can control the gens and not get baited to leave an area, you can easily 3K and race to the hatch.

  • I've purchased the rift every time since they introduced it and personally I feel the problem is the content they are offering and that includes the outfits and appearances. The trinkets are useless. In the most recent rift, there are 28 trinkets in 70 levels. There needs to be more variety. Such as shards, large amounts of bloodpoints and even XP offered as a reward ... things that are actually useful to a player. Especially newer players who may need to prestige characters or just level them up. I.

The grind is also very uneven and tedious at times. While there are many challenges that can be easily done in one match and will reward 5 fragments and up to 60K bloodpints there are more that require 3-5 matches at minimum and reward 3 fragments and up to 45K bloodpints.

Plus some of the challenges are forcing lower skilled players to play even worse in order to complete them.

  • It depends on the player and platform. I have no problem being face-camped or tunneled if I run the killer most of the match. That comes with the territory.

However, late night games against Playstation killers are the worst. They will not only camp and tunnel, they will bring in a mori too. I play across PC, PS and Xbox and PS is by far the worst platform for lower rank (red and purple) killers. It's why I started playing SWF on PS. It's just no fun playing against lowered skilled players who won't put in the time to learn how to play.

Decisive Strike needs to be changed back to what it was.

  • I've bought them all to this point and will not be buying the next one if they don't start upping the ante. They need to stop with the trinkets and replace them with shards or something else that's actually useful to the game.

I play quite a few "battlepass" oriented games like COD and sadly DBD pales in comparison to the others.

Personally I felt this one was the worst so far.

  • The best thing you can do is find some people to play with. I played solo for over 3 years and started playing SWF a few months ago and the game has just moved more towards SWF. That's not going to change, and despite not liking it at first, it is fun to play with other people.

  • There are just players who are not good at the game and have to camp in order to win. I played against a Huntress last night who was complete trash with her hatchets and easy to loop. She camped my teammate on the first hook and slugged another for trying to get them. It takes skill in order to be a good killer and sadly there are too many players who just can't do it.

However, with Leatherface, I've just come to expect that he's gonna camp or tunnel. It's what he does.

  • I played on PC most the day and PS4 Pro tonight and both platforms were very smooth. I didn't notice any frame drops, even on the new maps with lots of fog. I have a high end PC, so my machine can easily handle this game.

However, on Xbox One X, which should perform better than the Pro, I noticed a ton of stuttering and frame drops. It is very noticeable.

  • @NoRage said:

I hope those graphical changes will not cost many FPS .

I have a feeling that it will hurt lower end PC's and really impact consoles. They really should focus on optimizing this engine more.

  • Knowing when a killer is using NOED is pretty easy to spot. They're typically really bad, easily juked, etc... Very rarely, if ever do good killers run it. So when you come across a killer like that, do totems.

  • Unless you're standing 5ft from the edge of a wall safely on the other side, it's easy to dodge them.

  • The problem started getting worse when dedicated servers were added. There just isn't enough of them to accommodate the smaller regions and those of us that didn't have issues finding matches or even match making close to our ranks are now forced into servers with those players and it's screwing everything up. Including the ratio for survivors and killers.

Due to that fact, and when matches aren't found, the search expands and we end playing against higher ranks. Who get destroyed. There are some times during the morning or early afternoon where everything works perfectly, but those are few and far between.

PVP was laggy, but so much better of an experience and so much faster.

  • I didn't mind it as much before they added dedicated servers, now that it takes on average of 8 minutes to find a match, it takes the fun out of playing.

  • As someone who played solo for almost my entire time playing DBD, playing SWF w/ 3 or more players is OP and not fair to the killer or any solo survivors in the match. A 4 man is even worse. We rarely get 4K'd even by a rank one killer.

It really needs to be its own mode (Solos/Duos/Quads) as there is no way to balance it out with solo players unless communication added. It also jams up the queues trying to fill out those numbers.

I can play either way and while I really enjoy playing with friends now, most killers cannot handle this yet and need time to learn the game.

  • I switch platforms when one gets too toxic and then take a break for a few weeks. You have to.

  • I just started using it (over balanced landing) and it's OK when it actually works right. I used it last night in a match to save a teammate because no one else would and if I didn't do it, he would have died on the hook. I literally made it at the very last second to get them off the hook.

  • Either run them out or take a break from the game.

  • I'm actually happy for these changes, especially considering how long the wait times have been. The 4-1 ratio is simply not sustainable unless killers get "buffs" like this.

Let's face it, most killers (now) aren't very good at this game and we need them or the game dies. Maybe now they won't be so thirsty for that 4K, and will actually learn how to play the game and stop asking for every killer to be easy.

  • We get moris brought in quite often in red ranks. It happens almost every time two or more people bring in flash lights and when two people in our group play as nea wearing the exact same outfits. We've had to do the toxic switch numerous times to stop it. It's always when the killer is a higher rank. Low rank killers tend to play better and not need them as much.

Playing as killer is almost instant.

  • No. 9/10 it's the really bad players who use it and if they didn't have that ... it would be a massacre every time they play. Just cleanse the totems when you see them.
