Only the survivors are red ranks though. You have to be red ranks too or it doesn't count for some reason.

You don’t have to, your constant low rank survivors screenshots that you prefer to show says enough about what type of killer you are.

Hey bud! @Speshul_Kitten look what just happened.

A perk change, which according to you, doesn't effect you. In your case what you have to weigh in doesn't matter, and is disrespectful to players who choose to use Ruin. It effects out gameplay choices so our feedback matters instead.

I'm tired of childish people who say, in effect, "this change doesn't effect me so to hell with those that it does. I got mine."

Lmao no, I’m expressing my experience without Ruin. If I can do it, and I’m not even close to an amazing killer, anyone can do it. I literally matchmaker with reds as a Rank 5-6 Killer. I finish most games with at least 3 kills.

actually go and play a few games without it, see how you fare then come provide feedback or complaints. Most of everyone is bitching before even giving it a chance.

“OMG I JUST SAW WHERE THEY ######### UP RUIN” Keyword - SAW

let’s get some constructive feedback through gameplay instead of figuratively speaking on the matter.

“It’s going to make gen rushing that much faster”

"I agree. Too many killers became reliant on Ruin. I did until I started creating my own in-game challenges, one being not using Ruin anymore."

So what if you choose to not use Ruin?

Does that mean all other killer players shouldn't be able to use it as it is either?

If a change doesn't effect you then keep your opinion to yourself.

I can express my opinion all I want. If you’re too much of a child to take it, then maybe stay off of a “discussion.” Too many of you whining about a perk change.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

You can always play lax without Ruin. Just play and not care about winning, its really that easy.

Point of my own thread. Chill out and enjoy the game. ######### hell.

  • @Polychrome_Baku said:

Just because I recognize bad perk design, doesn't mean I use it. FYI. I pretty much only play Trapper and run Corrupt Intervention. The fact is, Corrupt is more power than new!Ruin, yet the latter is still a hex perk. That is bad game design.

And if you think THIS is crying, I really wish you would have been here when Mettle of Man got nerfed. The forums made Iraq look like a vacation spot.

    Lmao @ the last sentence.

    This other person is whining.

Killers are still viable without Ruin. I’m not going to apologize if you relied on a PERK to be an effective killer. Even with Ruin against a “gen-rush” SWF I can lose. I’ve proved I can also win against them without it.

Rely on perks and this is what happens.

Not all 4, usually one or two people will just power through it while 2-3 people instead look for the totem. It's a great perk because it slows down early game progress while putting others who are looking for the totem at risk rather then just sitting at a gen like everyone will now.

Well, I mostly play killer and i don’t care about this. I stopped using it a week ago or so anyways. It’s not that big of a deal. The problem with this community, survivors and killers, is everyone expects to win EVERY SINGLE GAME.

  • @RIP_Legion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969260#Comment_969260

As I said, I'll take 30 seconds of people running around looking for a totem rather than have the same people just sit at a gen. Btw if it was useless they wouldn't be nerfing it, would they

I’m not sure how many games I’ve played, but all 4 survivors are not running around looking for the totem. As a survivor and as a killer.

  • @RIP_Legion said:

"very useful in the late game"- It's a Hex totem they don't last more than 30 seconds, what "late game" are you talking about please come back to Earth. Survivors get all the second chance perks in the world but we can't have a perk that let's us find and (quickly) down someone before a gen gets popped by 2 guys who spawned on that gen. I'm not gonna lie there isn't much that would make me leave this game, this is one of the few things that would. Godspeed to any 115% killer without a mobility tool on the many gigantic maps that plague this game. Here's an idea maybe buff the weaker side of the killer roster before nerfing a perk they rely on because they're stuck without a mobility tool to properly gen patrol at the beginning of the game.

This perk is actually worthless and I'll explain why, this perk will no longer stop gens from popping before the killer even has a hope of starting a snowball (especially on the Omega corn maps), this totem won't last longer than a minute meaning there will never be any "very useful in the late game". The only people who say this perk will be useful late game are either lying through their teeth or complete morons, run Huntress lullaby and you tell me how long that lasts before you drop the perk entirely (There's a reason nobody generally runs that perk).

Further proof that if a small group of survivors cries enough about one thing long enough BVHR will listen, but by God us killers (and survivors, I strive to get rank one in both every month at least) want weak killers like Clown, Bubba, and Legion buffed nothing EVER gets done. Patch 2.7.0, you reworked Legion about 8 months ago and you still haven't finished polishing him, half of his addons are completely useless but don't worry guys we're nerfing Ruin.

If Ruin does get changed like that (before the weaker killers are buffed to what they should be) I will be leaving this game and I know others will too. Can't wait for the "wait and see" losers to come around and tell me nerfing the most useful killer perk in the game with an easy counter is good for the health of the game. Yeah wait and watch useful things for killer get completely obliterated meanwhile sound for killers has been a trainwreck for over a month and you still haven't fixed that yet. Basement bug gets fixed in days and people who abused it are banned meanwhile Wake Up wasn't fixed for weeks and nobody who used it was banned even though it was completely obvious they're running it just to abuse it, because otherwise wake up is completely useless. The only time at rank one I've ever seen it ran was when it was bugged but at the same time double mend Legion abusers were banned. Really makes you think where the devs lean.

If it doesn’t last more than 30 seconds, why #########? It’s technically useless then.

"Secondly, if four gens pop before you find a survivor... uhh... TERRIBLE map pressure."

That was hyperbole. Usually, the problem is that three gens pop by the time a killer hooks their first survivor.

And YTers aren't average players; many practically play this like it's their job (for some, it is).

I never said anything about the perk ruining killers. Like I said, I don't use Ruin. I can't speak for those who do use it. But there are reasons it's a popular perk despite how fragile hex perks are, and the rework doesn't respect those reasons.

Whatever. I kinda hope the rework goes through and it frustrates less skilled killers so much that they quit playing. It's not like the game's tutorial teaches killers how to properly apply gen pressure, so rather than trying to "git gud" it's quite likely many will quit. Maybe with no one playing killer the core game mechanics will get reworked. Tunneling, camping, gen rushing, and relying on the hatch are all unhealthy game mechanics that are never going to be addressed unless something drastic happens to the playerbase. But that's completely off topic.

Yes, but it’s for the guy who thinks Map Pressure isn’t a skill Killers NEED.

Also, from my reading, BHVR didn’t want a 4K game for the killer. They wanted it to be a 2:2.

Plenty of non-YT killers out there that do not run ruin, I’ve seen it more often now than not in Reds as a survivor.

Now, a new breed of Killers will come up and those that relied on it will have to adjust.

Yeah, I only run DH and I’m a rank 4 Survivor at the moment.

A killer that can eliminate at least 3 Reds each game, without properly taking advantage of Ruin or using it at all?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969080#Comment_969080

The only other screenshot you have is one involving the perk you “don’t need”. Lmao okay I’m done arguing with baby killers.

“Baby killers” can’t argue the point, you just whine. Notice the other perks in that screenshot? Or are you just ignoring me saying the Ruin was destroyed early game?

Running Devour allowed my Ruin to be destroyed early. Thanks to two highlighted totems.

But yes, use an excuse to get out of the discussion. You’re doing nothing but whining which is the point of the post. You relied on ONE perk and now you might not be so capable of holding your precious Red Rank 1. Poor you.

Notice my killer levels and perk levels 🤔

Clearly, I’m more skilled than you at killer if I can play without Ruin and eliminate Reds. While you cry about needing ruin against reds.

    Edit:

You complain about not wanting to use Nurse to apply “that” kind of map pressure but that’s the Killer screenshot you provide? Hmph

  • @Speshul_Kitten said:

Nope not the same. Don’t even try it, you don’t play red rank killer and you if a rank 16 on the survivor team is the best you can do it terms of a screenshot, I can tell you don’t do well in higher skill based games.

Lmao so it’s my fault that an SWF team has a new or not as high skilled teammate with them? Also, I de-ranked from literally not overwhelming myself with trying to 4k. Oh, my bad for not screenshotting all my post-game lobbies. I’ll be sure from now on to do it, just for you.

Here’s another; Ruin involved and destroyed immediately and I was new to Freddy. Excuse the 20, he means I’m not good

I don't use Ruin because I hate hex perks, but I still think it's a terrible change. The reason Ruin is so popular is because it slows down gen repair from the start, which is important to help keep four gens from popping before you find the first survivor.

Ruin's popularity has little to do with the Gatekeeper Emblem. It has to do with being useful in the early game. The devs reworked it and took away the thing that made it popular.

Now, it will only be useful in late game, which hex totems rarely survivor to see. Hell, half the time survivors spawn on top of Ruin and cleanse it before the killer even gets across the map to check on it.

Survivors benefit from this change. Killers don't benefit from it at all, especially not if they don't give a damn about pipping.

I don't use gen slowdown perks because I don't really care if survivors gen rush me and escape in three minutes; if that's their idea of fun, so be it. I don't run add-ons, so any BP I make is profit.

First off, I get your point and the reasoning behind Ruin. I didn’t know they were even nerfing it.

Secondly, if four gens pop before you find a survivor... uhh... TERRIBLE map pressure.

Thirdly, if ONE perk ruins a killer then maybe this community isn’t so great at killing like they think. I see plenty of YTers not running Ruin and do just fine.

Get better map pressure? So when I decide to play clown and the game loads up Backwater Swamp I’m supposed to high rail it to the gen across the map so I can use PGTW right? Well guess what, by the time I get there, and say I do manage to pop it, the gen on the other side of the map has just popped. Do you think I want to play Spirit, Billy, Nurse EVERY red rank game to apply that kind of map pressure??

if you think Corrupt Intervention is going to slow the game down for you, I’ll tell you what I told the other guy. When you have to cover the last 3 gens spread across the map, lmk how it goes.

When you have optimal survivors, they’re gonna know that they need to keep the gens spread out.

Now you’re asking me to use NOED? Omg okay Red Rank Killer if you say so

Buddy, you’re just full of whining. I started this season as a Red Rank. You’re upset over Ruin getting nerfed and play in Reds 🤦🏽‍♂️ Most of the time, Ruin is cleansed within the first 2 minutes or playing an optimal team Gens are still being popped left and right.

Yes, apply better map pressure. Not my fault you chose to play Clown and got placed on Backwater and aren’t playing optimally or think you DESERVE 4 kills just because.

Yeah, I do actually. The VAST MAJORITY of my games consist of 1-3 Ranks, the occasional Purples.

Slow the game down? Get better at Map Pressure. Not every game HAS to be a 4K and not every game WILL be a 4K.

I opened a thread last week on me testing not playing with Ruin, I win more games than lose and i rotate between all Killers except:

    Cannibal, Demo, Huntress and Nurse.

want a solution starting out without Ruin? Use NoED.

We’ve also been gifted perks such as: Corrupt Intervention which is an immediate slowdown and Thrilling Tremors.

Didn't really want to include ability and perks, but if I had to I would make Springtrap a stealth killer that applies debuffs to survivors, this would fit the game he comes from.

Perks don't really have to fit the killer since most perks aren't really related to the characters, but the perks would probably be there to slow things down.

I just want people to know it's not only about those funny colorful animatronics and would actually have something fitting for DbD instead of just straight up saying no without reasoning.

You’ve got to be better at selling this character then rather than getting upset because a lot of people just don’t have the taste for it.

WHY do you want this character in DbD?

You can’t just be like “Why doesn’t the Community want it?” Your idea, so explain it better to where I don’t have to Google and read an entire Universe of this character. I just don’t see where it fits in the DbD realm.

  • @Springey said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/968792#Comment_968792

I know what you mean, but if you just simply look for fnaf, you'll just find everything but not that what would fit into DbD, like those animatronics or even the books.

It's simple, they type in fnaf and already see Freddy and the gang and say it would't fit.

If someone has to dive into an entire Universe to understand where you’re coming from, that’s not necessarily enticing.

Yes, you like the character(s) and the idea of having a Chapter in DbD. But... I know I’m not the only one who hasn’t an idea about this Movie? Book? Whatever it is. I Googled and saw nothing but vibrant colors and bears and that’s not what I play this game for.

    It’s just not MY taste.

  • @Springey said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/968752#Comment_968752

That's what I mean, you don't even care to look more into it.

That’s not the problem at all. I’m just stating my opinion on what I Googled. This is a Horror Survival game. I wouldn’t consider a burned Animatronic Bear scary.

What would you suggest his Ability and Perks be? That’s where I’m mostly curious on this.

Why are you so forthright about this?

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

    Good.

Get it out of the way. Imo ruin carried a lot of killers when it lasted long enough 80% of red rank matches it was used they said.

Once its gone kill rates should drop and the devs may not be terrified to buff killers since the thing buffing the stats is gone.

I agree. Too many killers became reliant on Ruin. I did until I started creating my own in-game challenges, one being not using Ruin anymore.

  • @Tarvesh said:

With the new changes, skill checks work normally, but gens being regressed do so 1 / 1.5 / 2 times the normal speed.

So early, Hex:Ruin is no threat. And late game, it's already been cleansed so it will never be a threat.

Good job, BHVR. You successfully butchered the one reliable perk in the killer arsenal and made it so that survivors no longer need to at least be decent at skill checks. Impressively botched!

I stopped relying on Ruin like a week ago. I win more games than lose without it.

Without Ruin, you’re forced to actually pressure the map rather than rely on the Hex slowing progress or causing Survivors to search in hope for it. It really makes you a better player and you’re not panicking about survivors cleansing your totem.

just my opinion though, so I’m not really upset about it if they have ruined Ruin.

  • I’m not even familiar with FNaF but I just Googled it.

    and...

ehhh. Would much rather not have a childish (even if dead, burned or whatever) chasing me. That’s more laughable than “oh ######### its going to get me” moment.

I would much rather prefer an original chapter/character. One like an Illusionist or something. But, that’s not my choice.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

In a tier, how do you rank up the killers?

B.how easy is to detect a survivor

C.how much map pressure do you have

    D.how hot they are

What is your way of tiering killers? Let me know down below

I think Tiers in this game are subjective to play-style.

Take Legion for example; Some are amazing Legions whilst others complain that Legion needs a buff.

I Tier Killers based on how effective they been against me vs how effective I am with them. Usually the killers with a strong learning curve turn out to be the S Tier Killers in my book.

The only add-ons I use are recharge add-ons, everything else is just terrible or turns her into a loopable killer. The extra blink is nice unless you are in an indoor map which screws you over.

The only time I play Nurse now is in a Custom Game.

  • @DeathBeam said:

They turned her into a killer who is the most reliant on add ons.

Even then the add-ons don’t help much. Played a Nurse on the new map, we destroyed her. She only got one kill because we messed around and bodyblocked our friend and found out about NoED. This is red rank too. I felt bad for that Nurse. The Nurse player sacrificed a blink for run speed and it hurt more than helped.

  • @Claudette_Baguette said:

I will be hated for this but I’m gonna say it: Iron Will should have a maximal duration for how long it can be active in a trial just like Yui’s Lucky Break perk.

Being silent while injured is way stronger than leaving no blood in a chase. And Iron Will is better than Lucky Break for hiding from the killer as well and it encourages survivors to heal even less often (no heal meta).

I must say I disagree. Just started running No Mither + Iron Will to shake it up. I’d die first every game without Iron Will III

  • @Hoodied said:

Its not, I actually couldn't catch up to a survivor running in a straight line as her, it takes too long to get Blinks back and with only 2 blinks available without add-ons, i'm starting to think Nurse's basekit blinks should be 3, or have a quicker recharge for her blinks

I loved playing the Nurse, but it’s a chore to chase survivors. She is unbelievably slow and to make up for her foot chase speed, you have to sacrifice a blink through add-ons. Lmao hows that fair?

  • @spikeiscrazy95 said:

Would it be possible for us to have between 3-5 slots for saving builds to characters. I feel this is really needed as it takes a lot of time and energy to screenshot loadouts and them find them to remember the builds. A quick method to save your builds and switch between them in game would be very beneficial.

Agreed. It becomes a chore to try and remember builds. So much that I’ve got different builds for different situations on different survivors and killers.

  • Look at it this way..

Let’s consider the ”objective” (the goal of the game) as the Main Quest(s) of a storyline.

The Main Quest(s) in DBD would be:

    • Repairing Generators
    • Escaping
    • Sacrificing Survivors

These are actually required to complete the game.

    Side Quest(s) would be:

    • Destroying Generators
    • Cleansing Totems
    • Healing Survivors
    • Unhooking Survivors
    • Searching Chests

While Side Quest(s) add to the storyline or give more activities to complete, they are not necessarily required nor determine whether or not the Main Quest(s) can be Completed.

So, I would disagree that cleansing totems are a secondary objective. That’s my opinion because it’s not the goal of the game nor does it impede your abilities to do what you’re meant to do.

What people fail to realize is that if you suck at the game, either as killer or survivor, no nerfing or tweaking of anything I’d going to help you score an easy win, and that’s what everyone wants...an easy win.

as a killer and a survivor, I don’t want an easy Win. I want a fun game. Beat me all you want but make it enjoyable and not miserable.

  • @HellDescent said:

I think deep wound needs to be removed form bt, so you have to heal again. Adrenaline only will pick you up from downed state when it triggers. Noed - for each uncleansed totem killer gets 1% movement speed, survivors who cleanse at least 1 totem will not suffer from exposed status.

That is not ideal at all with NoED. There would be no need in NoED being a Hex perk if you can cleanse a basic totem to not be affected.

Man I'm not taking this bait, you've quoted everyone to tell them you're right and they're wrong without giving any good point. I know it sucks that you can get stunned for like 15 seconds in a row, but steel yourself, it's nothing but a videogame, and this is quite your fault for letting them have the situation to do that. Plus, getting stunned twice is only 8 seconds, it's nothing. You are crying over nothing, and you came here hoping everyone would agree with you and make fun of the survivors. But it's not the case.

Lmfaoooooooo ######### are you talking about? Did you just create a discussion in your own head with me?

you’re the only one making a fool of yourself by replying with what you did. If your only argument is “you’re crying” please re-read the thread my guy.

I seem to notice that mostly survivor perks are of discussion, the one thing that survivors have to rely to try to have a slight edge, and killer power, the one thing that differs one killer from one another. The only killer perk that is of constant killer discussion is NOED, but I refuse to start an argument in a meeting discussion.

You can’t nerf NoED and leave perks untouched such as: BT, Adrenaline, DS, etc.

I personally don’t care about the perks being nerfed. It is what it is.

Same with gen speeds because they already take a considerable amount of time to complete solo and if you get “gen-rushed” it’s mostly by an experienced team or SWF and you’re not pressuring enough.

What really needs to be fixed is the hit boxes and matchmaking. Freddy’s spaghetti fingers hit from 10 feet away (I have a clip) 😂 and Survivor matchmaking takes too long (Xbox)

All this “nerf” this and “buff” this talk is just from people that have had a bad match or two against whatever they’re talking about nerfing or buffing.

Yeah, well he was being a troll. I categorize those as being toxic. Everyone has their own definition of toxic. But yes, his waste.

Smh so you just want free escapes? If you didn't power all the gens then you shouldn't escape period, hatch mechanic is also pretty dumb it's there so if you don't get it you shouldn't get a second chance at escaping. What's next? Gates open automatically whenever there's 1 survivor left?

I’ve noticed everything with survivors is:

I didn’t escape so make it to where if a killer hits us, we take no damage and the killer is stunned until we escape.

Oh, so there are professional players earning their money in tournaments? Filling entire stadiums with viewers during esport events?

    Oh, no?

Well then it is per definition a casual game... LMAO.

Read the Forum, then come back and tell me it’s a casual game. Just because there isn’t a big following “professionally” doesn’t mean it’s a casual game.

By definition, DBD is NOT a casual game. It’s a very simple experiment to perform yourself as I already have with about 5 friends that haven’t played this game. They still don’t because of the learning curve. If it were casual, they could jump right into the game and know how to play.

Here’s a couple of quick Google definitions of a “casual” game:

Casual game definition: A casual game is a simple video game that is easy to play

The term casual gaming refers to video games which do not require a major time investment to play, win, and enjoy. A casual gamer is a player who enjoys any video game without investing significant time to it, playing it spontaneously, irregularly, or infrequently.

A casual game is a video game targeted at a wide, mass market audience, as opposed to a hardcore game, which is a game targeted at a more niche audience of hobbyist gamers. ... They generally have simpler rules, shorter sessions, and less learned skill than hardcore games.

Man I wish I copied that last after match fight.

Survivor: I can't believe you camped him.

Me: End of match, doors open, scratchmarks near, and you want me to what, run to the opposite side of the field?

Survivor: You didn't have to camp him, you could have chased us to the door. We could have saved our friend

Me: you 2 are rank 2, I'm rank 8, and you guys are SWF. YOU had the advantage, and you 2 rank 2's LEFT.

Survivor: Well we weren't going to get by you.

Me: I don't have NOED, 2 RANK 2's who cleansed themselves, afraid of a plague doing what??? You ran away!

Survivor: We couldn't do Anything, You suck.

Me: ...... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA RANK 2's afraid to save!

Survivor: Well you didn't hook one of us.

Me: Well you didn't try to save your FRIEND! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    💀😂😂

Stop crying... It is not toxic to use game mechanisms... The DbD community is a joke and takes a casual game way too seriously.

Lmao this is not a casual game.

How does that effect anything? You still got outplayed. You just didn't expect it.

Lmao if I got “outplayed” how in the world did I: 1) Catch him, 2) kill him, 3) Get a 4K?

outplayed would’ve been me chasing him, him jumping in a locker, me going for the locker and him using Head On. BINGO. Outplayed.

    Here’s the actual scenario:

    Me: *Walks into school*

Dwight: *hops out of locker - Head On*

    Me: Stunned

    Dwight:

    Me: Recovered

Dwight: *Throws pallet before Killer moves*

Outplayed? No. Confused? Yes. There was no play on my behalf to be “outplayed” because I had zero motive to check a locker at the beginning of a game lmao
