Did you even read anything of the comments you replied to? Lol

None of these comments said anything bad about the game, my comment was about devs giving bad reasoning and explanation to their changes and avoiding/hiding some issues, the other guys comment was about devs being biased and not understading the situation

My point. Then why do you continue to play if the devs are so #########?

Learning curve is huge? Have you ever played a Moba? R6 Siege? Anything with more than 20 playable opponents?

This game is ######### easy if you use your brain and dont give up after 2 days.

New players done leave because of the forums. They leave because they cant handle having to learn a game in the age of roblox. Players who come to the forums typically have stayed with the game more than 2 days.

You're simply attacking the playerbase and devs now because you have no argument other than "people saying git gud hurts peoples feelings".

You want your easy games? Minecraft and fortnite are waiting.

I'm done debating a brick wall devoid of independent thought.

And your boomer comment didnt hurt, I was just pointing out another generalization you're using for your ######### argument and how it was inaccurate.

    <3

How are you comparing this to a MOBA? Also R6 Siege does not have a learning curve. That game is as simple as hopping on COD.

I never said players leave because of the forums, they leave because of the toxic communities gameplay.

You’re devoid of independent thought. Any person with a brain would understand how important attracting a casual audience is to video games. Why do you think games like Chivalry died off? And probably soon to be Mordhau (couldn’t say cause I’ve not touched my PC in months).

I’m experienced DbD but it’s hard to get my casual gamer friends to play because you have to learn many tactics as survivor and be good at least looping to survive in most cases and as a killer, good luck to new players with no grasp on the system. You have 164 perks to choose a 4 slot combination from. It’s a complex system to new players.

Explain how you think it’s not? I had to play with friends that knew the game to learn, people I met on the game that have been playing. Then I played every day after work and the gym. It’s not a casual attractive game. That’s what BHVR needs to cater to, it’ll grow the player base thus helping matchmaking and separating ranks to where’s you precious entitled reds 1 can have all your toxic fun against each other and us reds 4 and up can enjoy the game.

I don't mean to argue sir, but DBD is like that, it's a circle... Devs mess with killers cause they are barely 20% of their DB, they nerf them and make them not enjoyable IN A HORROR GAME, what do you think those killers feel when finally getting to go against a noob or bad survivor?

BTW, I'm not one of those, I'm the killer who if I notice you're a noob you're gonna be left alone for the last kill for you to have a chance at the hatch, I don't tunnel, don't camp, happy to farm when a survivor DCed early in the game... Don't generalize, I've encountered HUNDREDS of killers who play like this, giving survivors a nice game, take it from a red rank killer and survivor.

About the DCing... It's just wrong, NEVER will a DC be justifiable, you're a human, not an animal, learn to control the feeling of loosing or feeling powerless when you're playing the survivor role... Even more in a horror game against a KILLER...

I don’t recall asking anyone to take sides, so that’s irrelevant already.

And no, if a player wants to DC they can and should be able to. Simple as that. If you can’t handle someone DCing then you’re in the same position as that person DCing. Sometimes people have things come up, or don’t want to play against a certain group or with a group.

How do you think players would feel if there was a DC in COD where a team can spawn kill you?

Same as in DbD where an entire group of survivors can torment a killer or a killer can tunnel/camp a survivor.

Because their methods, and reasoning are consistently...well...ridiculous.

"Let's nerf this killer perk that is used in most games at RED RANKS because it's annoyiing for NEW PLAYERS to go against". Which in and of itself is a giant middle finger to the established playerbase that kept their game alive (and yes - the playerbase takes the majority of the credit for it. If it wasn't for content creators and their communities, DBD never would have made it as big as it has. Very little to do with BHVR's actual efforts).

I won't even mention the fact that not only did they not research WHY it's used so much, when asked why they didn't do due diligence and research why it was used in such a large scale, they outright ignore it. They literally refuse to answer.

So the reason they gave - it's frustrating for new players.

DS isn't? Borrowed time isn't? Deadhard isn't? I'd bet there are just as many, if not more new players (new killers, rather) dealing with all these frustrations right now, especially with matchmaking doing what it's doing and matching yellow and brown rank killers against red rank players...but nothing is done. It makes them look biased.

Then stop playing if you hate it so much?

Because they often do controversial changes without consulting them with players, and their patch notes reasoning is vague, often not on point or detached from reality. They also like to avoid fixing somr problems and just ignore th or do some wierd workarounds that get bugged every patch. I think the person that does the patch notes doesnt really understand devs reasoning and says something random.

You don't have to watch videos to learn the game.

You play the game to learn it.

And if somehow YOU CANT GRASP THE CONCEPT, you can look up a video, just as EVERY OTHER GAMER HAS in tough spots.

    Classic boomer mentality? I'm 29.

It's not a boomer mentality of "I learned hard, so should you".

It's common sense of "people shouldnt have things handed to them when they're capable of learning themselves."

Dont be a mindless sheep and think you should just be able to be good without practice. It's not how the world works hon.

Not to mention DC bans SHOULD be a thing. If you cant handle the game, dont play it. If youre emotionally/mentally not capable of handling loss, then why ruin everyone else's game.

"Real life issues or net problems" fix that ######### before you get back on the game.

    TAKE SOME ######### RESPONSIBILITY.

There’s no true learnability in this game. Most of you complain about matchmaking but if the game isn’t fair towards casuals, you’ll never expand the player base.

“Boomer mentality” not directed personally towards you, but if it hurt then it must be true.

I’m 25, cause that matters? If you expect a person to hop into a game and have to spend countless hours to learn and actually continue to play, you’re wrong. There’s a plethora of games out there that you can jump right into for entertainment.

This game has nothing to do with common sense because the learning curve is HUGE.

If someone wants to quit a match, they should be allowed to. There are too many toxic players in this game that make it miserable for others and nobody should have to deal with it. We play games for enjoyment.

Talk about taking responsibility, the community needs to take responsibility for how they treat other players in the game and think on why the player base is so low and new players don’t come back.

Oh sorry, i forgot. People shouldn’t be so sensitive and if they are, “wE dOnT wAnT yOu hErE”, but wait, “BHVR FIX THE MATCHMAKING”

cant fix matchmaking with a dense player base.

    I mean honestly?

Because most of the people here have nothing better to do, including myself I suppose. People whose lives went south somewhere and thus have some pent up anger issues, or people who have exorbitant amounts of free time for whatever reason, be it disability, laziness, wealth, or what have you. That's generally the type of person forums attract. At least, when it comes to their most active users. There're exceptions, of course.

That and I'd bet a lot of people here are in their teens. Teens are always angsty.

    Agreed.

  • @Astrian said:

It's because BHVR rarely buffs impactful things mostly just straight up nerfs things people like or use frequently. Even changes they intend to be positive come out as nerfs. Doctor change has basically been concluded as a straight up bad change, if this comes out to be true, this is going to be the 3rd rework they've completely botched and end up making the killer worse as Nurse, Legion and assuming Doctor getting the axe. When you're running a 25% batting record on making reworks for your killers, yeah people are going to be pissed. The only good rework they've ever made was with Freddy and he was so bad it was basically impossible to make him worse.

A lot of what BHVR does and even their reasoning for doing so is flawed. They claim that Killers in red ranks have a high kill percentage majority of the time but they also forget that their matchmaking is so bad that a lot of matches end up getting games with red ranks, purple ranks, green even yellow ranks. Last night I got a game as Rank 1 killer with 2 red ranks, a green rank and a rank 18 survivor. How is that good? Of course it was a stomp, half of their team barely knew what they were doing.

They change Ruin, one of the most popular perks in the game without understanding why people feel the need to run the perk in the first place or even try to address why objectively Hex perks are some of the worst in the game.

A good solution to the stale Survivor and Killer loadouts is to buff other, weaker perks to provide players more options in selecting their loadouts. For example for Killers, with the new Ruin it just seems like a better version of Surge, an already niche rarely used perk. Since you can't use both anyway now without seeing conflicts, why didn't they just buff Surge and give Killers a meaningful choice on which one they would rather use? Even with Survivors, when you have options like Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, and Balanced Landing, why tf would you ever run Lithe? Why can't that perk get a slight buff so it's more relevant? Or even a trash tier perk like No Mither?

Just everything they do seems incredibly short sighted, like they're putting bandaids over the problems instead of just performing surgery and fixing the damn thing

Each of those survivor perks has a different play style and meaning of use. I see a lot of players still run Lithe into red ranks.

The problem isn’t perks, it’s the players.

  • @Carpemortum said:

I mean it's crazy. I started playing this game in 2018 with old ruin and DS, and didnt give up on either side.

What did I do? Learned, played through, and got better.

Shame these days they feel like new players should just be able to turn it on and be professionals.

It’s not about new players turning it on and being professionals.

A player shouldn’t have to watch videos to learn your game. DbD is a very complex game and it doesn’t help that half the community of great players prey on the less experienced for fun. That’s misery for them.

But yes, let’s have that classic boomer mentality of “I learned the hard way, so should you”.

BHVR is smart not listening to this community. Most of you torment new players to the point word-of-mouth gives the game a bad rep. I have friends that won’t touch this game because of a few hours of bad gameplay due to toxic killer or survivor tactics. Even when I taught them how to play and they’re half-decent they still rarely play because it’s almost like PTSD, nobody wants miserable gameplay after waiting in a lobby and then having to watch your team play or wait until the survivors are done trolling you to move on.

thats true. The problem is, nobody wants a balanced game in DbD.

Killers want to be guaranteed 4K and survivors want to be guaranteed escape.

Survivor loses a game, even after winning their last 5 in a row, “NERF [killer]!!!” “NERF [perk]!!”

Killer doesn’t get 4k: “Maps too big” “Gens too fast” “OP Perks” “Infinite loops”

Also when survivors abuse the same window loop everytime you start a chase with them. Being told that you have to use bamboozle or mindgame insanely strong areas is unbalanced to me.

I find survivors that intentionally loop annoying.

Those that start the game out and search for the killer, the opposite of the games intent, just because they know they’re a strong looper.

i don’t mind perks, “gen-rush”, bodyblock, etc. I can’t stand strong loopers that intentionally search every game for the killer just to do it.

You sound like you are not very good at the game.

I'm curious how much time in the game you've actually invested?

The ruin change on It's own Isn't a big deal, I agree, It is a big deal NOW though because other flaws of the game were neglected before taking the band aide away (ruin). That's the problem.

Just because you are okay with a VERY flawed aspect of the game, doesn't mean others share that same sentiment. Most of us actually want to play a game that Is as balanced as possible within the current state of the game.

It's OBVIOUS that people are not using ruin because of the stupid emblem system, people are using it, especially at red ranks because of the flawed aspects of this game. Map Design is my main argument.

When they don't bother to even acknowledge these flaws, yet, strip an obvious band aide that made playing killer at red ranks somewhat bare-able for a lot of killers, you're going to have this kind of backlash.

It's justified. If It's not addressed, they WILL lose a lot of the community that plays this game.

    It's obvious.

Unfortunately I think the BHVR team lacks in identifying the obvious within their own game.

What does experience have to do with anything? You can play this game for a week and get to Purple/Red with decent play. It’s not a tough system. Every argument in this forum is: “You’re not red, you have no opinion.” Literally stfu with that.

Im a red survivor and was a red killer til I literally dropped trying to sweat every match. No more ruin for coming on 2 weeks and I still win about 80% of my games, with 4 kills. Against red ranks.

Even using ruin against a strong 4-man will most of the time cause you to lose. So what’s the deal? You’re too reliant on the perk.

Balance a game around your strongest players, which is a small portion of the base in most games, and your game breaks. In this case, even more. Ive played countless smurfs that are true red rank killers and have even got one to admit he purposely deranked to green so he can get easier kills. How’s that fair?

Lets run meta-Perks against newbie players for my enjoyment and make their gameplay miserable. Where’s that end up? Loss of players.

The “nerf” on Ruin, who tf cares. Killers win more than lose. These forums make it seem the opposite because nobody complains about positivity.

  • @RIP_Legion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/977803#Comment_977803

I'm glad you're fine with mediocrity but most of us like to win, sure ruin might be the be all end all of perks at rank 15 but rank one is a whole different beast and should be treated as such but that's not important obviously.

its not mediocrity, it’s simply not being a sore loser or getting pissed because I can’t get 4 kills every match. Deal with it. The Ruin change isn’t even that big of an issue, most killers are upset because they heavily relied, RELIED, on it to carry them. 2 kills is a great game.

Nobody cares about rank, as I’ve been told plenty of times. So get over it. Everyone in these forums pulls the rank card like they’re some sort of God in an irrelevant world. Rank 1’s shouldn’t dictate the game.

Most of you “Rank 1s” are toxic asf anyways as both Killers and Survivors.

You dont realise that all they nerf is killers right. No killer has said that they want to 4k. All we want is gens to not go by so fast and sometime in this new decade buff low tier killers so we can all have fun and dont need to rely on bad map designs that are bigger than America

I do realize that. And I do not care. I still have fun as the killer. Yes, people complain about gen speed because in the current state, even tunneling or camping you can mostly get 2. 3-4 only if the team is dumb and hook rushes.

Im fine with 2 kill games.

Ghostface rework idea: I think every survivor should get a cell phone. Ghostface has a 32m terror radius, but he can call survivors and hear the phone ringing within 8 meters. This gives him incredible short range tracking. If survivors answer the phone, they get exposed. Survivors can just take the battery out of the phone by hitting a skill check at the beginning of the trial. This prevents Ghostface from ever calling them, and makes it so he's not annoying for survivors. Additionally, survivors can sign up for the Do Not Call list in the options menu to permanently block Ghostface's number.

Whenever I play against GhostFace he's really frustrating because you can look at him and he just runs at you and you can't do anything unless you run away or throw a pallet.

His breaking out of stealth is better than it used to be but I swear whenever I play whatever role it's always working against me.

I think it's not a stretch to say that GhostFace is OP overpowered and he's just unfun to play against. People say oh this killer is worse but I disagree. GhostFace makes it impossible to get away because you can't even see him unless you're looking straight at him. I have a idea which might fix this broken killer. What if we turned GhostFace into a hex totem so that once it's cleansed the killer just disconnects.

This would put an end to camping, tunnelling and hooking survivors that you are playing against, and also slugging it'll counter that too. I can't believe no-one ever thinks outside the box when the answer is staring right at us.

There isn't enough balance and it is disappointing but I have hope that the Devs will right the wrongs they've made and this game will find itself listening to the playerbase for gameplay changes.

Also thank you for putting the new clown outfit on the free pass on the rift. I'm very excited to obliterating survivors off the face of the entity's realm with it.

They should have not revealed the Ruin changes or revealed the Ruin changes with any other perk changes they're considering.

    Agreed.

  • @GodDamn_Angela said:

When playing Killer: I don't care about the Ruin change as I never run Ruin anyway if I play Killer. Which is rare.

When Playing Survivor: This change is silly and unneeded. It isn;t frustrating to play against, it helps you learn to hit those Great Skill Checks, it is easy to counter if you need to get rid of it and it made Gens at least take some time. If I even go against a Killer who isn;t running it, or any other slow down perk, I just pump out Gens without a care.

Mainly, my Criticism for the change is the reasoning they gave, the "issues" they listed (#3 literally makes no sense being listed as a "frustrating issues playing against" Ruin) and the benefits, besides the first one, are not benefits and none of them are benefits for Killers.

They changed a Killer perk so that the new one, in comparison, gives something to the Survivors but takes things away from the Killer with no real attempt at balance being made. Its maddening.

I think that Stream from, like, 20 days ago may have had something to do with these changes tbh. McCote (and who ever he was playing with) had a hell of a time finding Ruin. It took them like 20 minutes(?) and they basically stopped doing Gens while it was up.

I'll have to look for it.

I mean, I can agree. Sometimes my team dies off before we’ve completed a generator because we’ve searched for the ruin against a great killer.

Its completely RNG. Sometimes it’s removed immediately. Though, it is aggravating searching for the totem, that’s not really grounds to change it because it’s their game that randomly places it.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

  • @ChiTenshi said:

I dislike the Ruin changes because there no additional changes being done to other perks.

Ruin is the only perk that hinders the whole team without a requirement early-mid game. You can chase a Survivor and not worry too much about gens being rushed in the background.

With these new Ruin changes, there is no perk that hinders the whole team without a sizeable requirement.

    • Thanatophobia needs 2+ injured Survivors, but it's effects can be removed via healing / dying (makes sense...)
    • PGTW requires hooking Survivors and is only really valid of Killers that can end chases quickly (RIP Nurse)
    • Corrupt Intervention holds 3 gens hostage for 120 seconds but normally equates to 1 player being chased and punished whilst the remainder of the team do the free gens
    • Dying Light is Mid-Late Game (what the new Ruin wishes is could be)
    • Surge is only viable for the Late Game 3-Gen Strat
    • Huntress Lullaby is only viable at Brown Ranks

The effects of the other potential perks are either poor in influence, have a high requirement, late game only, or all of those combined.

I would have loved to have seen changes to Surge, Thanatophobia and Huntress Lullaby to make them more viable and offer more game-play options.

    Maybe they will?

These strong SWFs you're talking about. Those players are dictating the game, not all red rank survivors you're right.

  • @T2K said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/975354#Comment_975354

I didnt understand it that way tbh. I read more about an unadressed balance issue in map size and survivor objective speed in comparison to killer objective speed regarding the ruin issue. Could be that people feel that way, idk.

You are right. But I rarely see full builds with complete synergy and I dont think killer players want to go in full try hard every match - just my opinion and observation. Ofc you can use a build for a big map and get screwed over by rng. Thats why I personally dislike rng in DbD.

Agree. Tbh if all maps were smaller and more balanced I wouldnt run ruin at all no matter what killer.

Im also not for or against a different ruin. Its just not transparent what the devs are thinking. If they would say something like: We change ruin now to get an idea of the game without ruin and then look over the maps and gens etc. , I would have no problem with this announcement.

Agreed with your thoughts on their reasoning.

The RNG is needed though. Without the RNG, strategies will be set in place that take away from the need to adapt in this game.

  • @FriendlyGuerl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/975366#Comment_975366

My main point is: I'm pretty sure that your mindset about the game is pretty near to reality for every rank except red. I don't want to insult you, but in my opinion survivors dictate the game in red ranks.

I’m a red rank survivor and was a red rank killer before I gave up on sweating. I enjoy playing Killer now BECAUSE I stopped using Ruin. Ruin made my life stressful as a killer because I literally worried about it being destroyed. Most of my games are against tough reds or like I said, consistent purples. I understand how tough a STRONG SWF “gen-rush” team can be, but they kick my ass, and most others, with Ruin and without it.

  • @Helm19 said:

I dont thing the main problem is the ruin nerf itself. Killers do not use ruin becouse they enjoy doing it.

For lower mobility killer ruin is essencial. Due to the poor map design without ruin finding the first survivor(even w whispers) usually takes too long. Killers wout mobility have no chance to aply enough pressure. Its physically impossible.

I think the devs simply ignore the problem of y ruin is so essencial in the first place.

(And Doctor nerf are just questionable)

I do agree mobility is an issue for most killers. There are some maps that ridiculously large and I get my ass handed to me on without Ruin. But I accept the fate.

Not running Ruin has resulted in my running NoED (######### I know, but it helps security).

I don’t mind Ruin remaining as is or changing, but the devs need a better reasoning than just skill checks. That’s a controllable circumstance that players can adapt to, whereas some killers are limited in mobility to constantly apply effective map pressure.

It seems that’s the biggest issue I’m drawing from most reasonable killers; mobility.

  • @FriendlyGuerl said:

I do agree, that ruin is not always needed. But in matches you would've needed it you get genrushed into oblivion. I experienced that painfully against some red rank swf that walked over my poor yellow rank hag.

But you also don’t know the outcome pre-game. Pre-game loadouts can go in your favor or against it. It’s more a guessing game unless you throw in a favorable map offering. Even then gens and totem placement as well as loops are mostly RNG.

  • @T2K said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/118205/constructive-feedback-only

Win is totally subjective. Did I win with 4k, black or 1 / 2 pipping, having fun, x gens werent done, 3 hook every survivor, etc. Screenshots dont prove anything.

You can 4k at R1 without perks and addons regardless your choice of killer. No its not a proof for anything.

I agree whe havent had the chance to check the new ruin out yet. So I will be careful with assumptions.

I think ruin is a perk to help you with large maps and killers without strong map pressure. Just the early game effects of ruin makes it viable even though it can be cleansed early on. Tbh I had the most fun games with a long lasting ruin. I could go for 12 hooks without slugging, camping or tunneling. I think its not about that you cant perform well without ruin. Its more about how you perform well.

Winning is subjective, but mostly everyone complaining about the potential Ruin change is they’ll have a less likely chance of getting a 4k. At least from my reading.

Also, maps and gen placement along with totem placement are all RNG. Unless you use a map offering. Where I’m getting at with this is... you can have a perfect build for a large map then get placed on a small.

For small maps, Ruin is pointless imo because it’ll be easier to find. It is much more needed in larger maps if your map pressure is subpar but it’s not required.

I don’t agree or disagree with the choice or changing the perk.

I play on PC, and I sometimes get less than 30 FPS in-game (because the optimization is so bad) and my skill check indicator is always like, 10 FPS. It's very, very choppy.

I never had problems at all hitting great skill checks. I hit them about 90~95% of the time.

    Why could I?

    Because I adapted.

    How did I?

Instead of relying visually on the skill check indicator, I just used muscle memory to instinctively learn the timing of each "o clock" position the skill checks appeared in, using the visual indicator more as reference than anything else, but never strictly relying on it.

Huntress Lullaby messes me over horribly, but almost nobody runs that, at least.

Yeah, I don’t care about the skill checks.

    Missed? Try again.

Lmao so that’s a dumb reasoning. My 9 year old brother learned in 30 seconds in a private match.

I don't think you read that right.

I clearly stated I have zero issue winning, be it by pip or 4k. What this change means is I have Even less time to do vital things as trapper.

WOuld I love a trapper buff, Hell yes, just give him all his traps at start bam done.

But the issue is rather that I am now all but forced to play as optimally as I can and sweat as much as I can which I frankly don't enjoy, rather now I'm forced to play in a much meaner play style, slugging, tunneling, ect if I want a chance to 4k or pip.

And honestly, I don't even care at this point. I've been playing since like the first month it released and frankly I'm tired of trying to let the otherside have fun to. Especially when I get stuff like "GG pos" when I give people hatch.

Or getting talked down to because I play to win but I tried to play to what I aspired to be fair, I.e no mori's, not tunneling, not slugging.

Now I can't. The devs punch me in the proverbial mouth, and then act smug about it.

I'm done playing nice at this point, it's clear that the dev's and survivors don't want to play nice or entertain the thought so why should I?

Please assume I need to be carried by ruin tho

No, I’m not assuming anything about you. I said it SEEMS like you allowed it to carry you, through what you typed.

As I said, that’s more of a killer buff needed than a Perk.

  • @SupaSlay3r20 said:

With gens being able to go so fast, ruin was more like a crutch for someone who broke both of their legs.

I think the change is a bit meh for killers. when paired with certain gen perks like discordance or surveillance (if it stacks with that) it is still quite situational but may work well. Really Good or bad? Time will tell but for now I feel its not a great perk for kbut tbh I didn't think the original was either. Some were way too dependent on it and I feel it carried players more than good play much like some survivor perks.

Overall I'm not sure if it's good or bad for either side so needs a lot of testing.

I don't quite understand the reasoning of making it better for lower ranked players as this change could make it even worse for them. Sure they can stay on a gen easier but they are generally really timid and leave a gen to hide with the mere hint of a heartbeat. It will still affect them much more than red ranks.

Personally my initial feelings before testing is that I dislike the change and the reasoning given.

If the reasoning behind it was skill checks, then I understand the explosion.

  • @HexMoriMeMommy said:

So the massive issue with it is, I am a rank 1 trapper main.

Ruin was core to me because of setup time, ESPECIALLY when I didn't have bag or speed addon's.

For me ruin idealy lasted at least 45-80 seconds because in that time I could set up a decent perimeter and then at the very minimum get into a chase.

Perks like corrupt intervention aern't bad but the do something that greatly screws with trapper early game and that is bringing survivors closer to your fledgling perimeter.

Which at high ranks, means either not setting as many traps and becoming an M1 who can occasionally deny extra loops, or risk having them see me set up and then coming behind me and setting all my traps off, Arguably the worst case scenario.

So now I am left with the option of effectively lose 3 gens and hope that I spawned on the side with a good 3 gen or have to play as mean as possible.

I never needed ruin to win, I can play just fine without it, the thing is, it bought me enough time usually to not have to sweat and try to enjoy myself.

New ruin flat out denys me this chance and now I have to play as mean as possible if I want to play trapper.

Then you need a killer buff, not a Perk to rely on. I love playing Trapper and I understand where you’re coming from. I don’t even have Ruin on all my Killers, Trapper included, this means I have to improvise. There are add-ons that help give more traps, etc.

The game is very RNG anyways, so if you just had bad placement it’s not anyones fault. It seems you relied on or allowed Ruin to carry you a lot and that’s why this is having so much weight put back on you.

It would be ideal to look at why the perk was ran in 95% of all matches and 80% of red rank matches in the first place, and then fix the actual problem and balance the perk then, rather than shooting a rocket launcher at the symptom without even at all addressing the core issue.

Even worse, they said they weren't doing this for balance at all, but literally because survivors literally could not adapt to hitting skill checks, so we know they're not balancing the game with this decision. Only making it "less frustrating" for the survivor role, the consequences such a decision may have on the balance of the game be damned.

This newer version of Ruin is too weak to be a hex perk, but it's also too strong to be a normal perk. So I wouldn't be fine with it being a normal perk either.

Ruin was a necessary evil. Nobody likes having a cast for their broken arm. It's fairly uncomfortable and annoying to have to put up with -- but you don't just remove the cast before your arm is healed simply because it's annoying. The consequences of removing the cast from your arm is potentially catastrophic.

Ruin was that "cast" for the game. And the game is more than likely going to suffer dire consequences if the change makes it to live. Not only will it damage the game, I think it will permanently damage BHVR's reputation with many players, who already feel like they are treading on mighty thin ice; myself included.

Was the skill check issue more catered towards Console players? FPS has a heavy weight in that.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

Agree. Even tho ruin was my main perk on my kit,I disliked it as a perk, but now,I might still consider using it.

It is bad imo because it can't be used with pop and overcharge. If they make it able to kick a gen with ruin equipped then I'm fine with it

I’m just not biting onto the whole “devs are out to get killers” movement we’ve got going on.

I’ve had success without Ruin and I’ve had success with Ruin but I’ve also had failures with and without. Once I got rid of Ruin, I feel I enjoyed the game more and had to actually pay attention to the pressure I applied rather than relying on a lone survivor headed to my totem.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    • Doesn't stop the early game gen pressure, which many, many killers lack. Ruin was the only thing preventing 3 generators from popping nearly simultaneously as you hooked your first survivor.
    • Late game hex perks very rarely don't work. How often do you get your Devourer of Hope to work, or your Huntress Lullaby to work? In fact, if my Ruin lasts to late game, then I may as well have equipped Devourer of Hope since then I would at least be able to one-shot people mid-game and then mori them on the spot late game. Much better than new Ruin, imo.
    • New Ruin is going to be ######### on killers with low mobility, who can't pressure gens as well.
    • New Ruin is only going to really possibly shine with Surveillance, meaning killers now have yet even more perks locked in their build, and that Surveillance is also locked behind a licensed paywall, making it even more difficult for newer players to get into the killer role as BBQ & Chilli is already pretty mandatory to cut the incredibly massive grind in half.
    • The New Ruin can't even work with multiple other gen slowing perks, such as Pop Goes the Weasel, Surge and Overcharge. Kind of pointless with Corrupt Intervention, as well.

So, would you say it would’ve been more ideal then to remove it as a Hex? Or only activate late game?

I do understand that it’s not the best decision the devs have made since I’ve started playing, but Ruin is not the cure-all in my book for beating survivors.

Would you accept the Perk change if it were no longer a Hex?

  • @Helevetin_nopee said:

Ruin is the only perk to slow the gen speed down right from the start of the match without anything else happening. (Even though good survivors will just ignore the ruin or cleanse it in 60 seconds). The new ruin isnt going to be that useful against high rank players.

I understand that. But the majority of my games consist of Red Ranks (usually a group of at least 3) or very consistent Purples.

So, I tested my gameplay and I win the majority of my games without Ruin. I used Ruin for my final game last night; destroyed in like 1-2 minutes. I don’t believe it helped out much because two generators still popped before it was destroyed. I ended up killing all 4 survivors on the final generator.

Ruin may have helped slow them down on those first two, but was it detrimental to my gameplay to have Ruin? I wouldn’t say it was because the gameplay was just as my games without Ruin.

  • @NurseMainBTW said:

... Because honestly I'm feeling kinda isolated right now.

I still remember when I opened a thread asking how ruin was important in killer builds and most of the responses were negative.

So... I suppose I should say "No-ruin users rise!" or stuff like that?

I don’t use it. I got bombarded for saying you don’t need Ruin to win. Provided screenshot proofs and all and the excuses I got were my other perks or add ons, which prove the point Ruin isn’t a necessity.

First: 2 out of the 4 red ranks did not have a DH/SB/BL or any of those!

Second: not a SINGLE one of them had DS!

Third: One of them killed himself or something - sub 1000 points score , so it was 3v1 !

Forth: you have only 18k score so you didn't even rank up from that.

A decent group of green ranks can make your Bubba cry in the corner.

Hmm. I had two people use DS but yeah, make excuses about why you need Ruin. Please. DS doesn’t aid gens.

A few screen shots don't prove any points. You're only one player. This is anecdotal evidence. And it is much easier for potato survivors to reach red ranks than for killers to rank up. Survivors can carry their teammates. Survivors don't have to escape to pip. Showing a screen that a killer destroyed red rank survivors means nothing without a video of the gameplay to go with it, and even then, it's still anecdotal evidence from one player.

None of it even matters. Equipping a perk isn't expected to be a guaranteed win, not equipping a perk isn't expected to be a guaranteed loss. A lot of killers equipped Ruin so they could have a less stressful game where they weren't so crunched for time. Ruin gave them breathing room. Sure, they might lose anyway, but the match probably still went longer and everyone earned more points than if the killer didn't equip Ruin.

I have plenty of breathing room without it and haven’t noticed a difference. You all are just crying because you don’t have a guarantee to generator slow which causes you to have to do more. Cry more. It’s anecdotal but my point stands that it’s possible.

Okay you’re the greatest killer against yellow ranks and with insta saw lmao you can stop making your post relevant now it died a long time ago

No, you’re just ignorant and my point has been proven. You just can’t accept that fact. “Yellow ranks” yet my proofs been posted. You really are a delusional individual.

Map placement with insta saw? OMEGALUL You don’t need any perks to 4K with those. Try again.

I told you-you don’t understand what effect Ruin has on the game. Stop creating scenarios in which you’re more likely to win.

    LMFAO THATS THE POINT.

I just bought Leatherface and have already proved his viability. Quit making excuses because I’m using other perks or add ons. That’s my point. YOU DONT NEED RUIN TO WIN.

They why don't you play perkless and add-onsless? I'm sure your map pressure is great enough to win against sweaty 4 men rank 1 SWF with 4 toolbox and all meta perks

PS: as what you said, stop being so reliant on perks and stuff

I’m sorry, what? I’m not crying about the perk. I’m winning without Ruin. I’m not perk reliant at all 🤦🏽‍♂️ But yeah, let’s use the classic, “I’ve got nothing to say so let me turn the debate around on the person making a point”

  • I destroyed him. They hook rushed and I chainsawed the whole area and he was collateral damage. Then he hook suicided.
