What do you think if a NBA player wants to play basket with 2 friends and he can only do it against a NBA team? And the other nba team says is fair and they have to improve :D
This is what devs do in this game
As opposed to the NBA player having 2 friends that are 8 years old, so he goes and dunks against some other 8 year olds.

Agreed, wish dbd had cross play.
So many ppl hate on that idea whenever it's brought up. We gotta protect you poor console killers from the PC "optimal and good" survivors.

Because it CAN still be done... Ppl still hack, they just get caught. With the cap in place, it's easy finding the hacker... He'll be the one with way more than 1 mil points.

re-rank between tests.
You lose 1 pip each time so as long as you play a serious game every other time and pip when you are playing serious you should be fine.
Step 1 is important, we want to control for rank too.
This test is also assuming your going to only use 3 perks when not using ruin, as opposed to replacing it with a perk that let's me end chases faster or cut down on time between chases. The whole point of NOT using it is to have use of 4 perks during the match instead of 3 perks for 90% of it.

Try that on PC and you will get demolished quite quickly, claim anything you want on console and I'll believe it.
I play PC, mastered old Freddy with no ruin and regularly 4ked at rank 1... Stop being a dick

I have, survivors either countered it or got destroyed by it. As survivor I find it easily countered.
The only time it's "uncounterable" is unsafe pallets. On those pallets, survivors HAVE to stun you... But I win those pallets without it anyway...

I get what you're saying. I'm looking at it from a standpoint of "You have four perk slots to equip stuff in." But if two of those perks are perceived as being mandatory, and lots of players only ever experiment with two of those slots while feeling like their hands are otherwise tied, things get stale. So, how does that get solved -- even if we're talking about a placebo effect?
Unfortunatly ppl who perceive the perks as mandatory will blindly slap it on everything and ignore all other options. Look at the popularity of enduring + spirit fury for a further example...
-
@Rydog said:

I'm not trying to argue the merits of specific perk mechanics. The point I'm trying to make is that those two perks show up in what I suspect is the overwhelming majority of matches.
That being the case, they're "mandatory" in terms of player perception, and Behaviour ought to figure out how to address this problem in a way that doesn't leave players feeling that they're must-pick perks for every build.
If it's just player perception, there's nothing the devs could do anyway. The perk is a placebo effect most of the time. How many skill checks pop up b4 it's broken as opposed to the guarantee effect of corrupt intervention FOR EXAMPLE. Players use it for a FEELING of being in a better position. When they go without it while feeling like they need it... They get the same effect as taking away placebo pills from a sick person. They do worse.

The half of the survivors were red ranks in my Trapper game, here is a match with three red ranks
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/545/IIAFJIJL5BHX.jpeg
Although I’m not currently in red ranks, I face red ranks commonly and have been in red ranks a lot, main exception is right now and the last reset, I can hold my own in red ranks without ruin and don’t always use slowdown perks.
Look at the OP add-ons, lol

The only reservation about agreeing to what Lord Glint is saying is that i cannot really verify if the survivors were actually good and optimal as proper red ranks, in those matches you had half of them being purple and green's... I mean you in those matches aren't even red rank yourself so how can it actually be said those pics prove ruin isnt needed at red ranks? All ranks of course not but red... well that's different maybe
The whole "good and optimal" thing just implies that any team that gets beaten...isn't. Those terms are used to describe the Boogeyman of the nightmare teams you can't possibly win against unless you use this killer and this perk. If I flex as the worst killer in the game with no slowdown perks against 100 teams, someone would just say they must not have been the good and optimal teams THEY face.

Quite dwelling on chest locations. The point is that there are numerous factors that go into determining the outcome of a match. Anecdotal evidence doesn't carry much weight on either side of the argument. You got along fine without it. Great. Snaps for you. Many players feel it is essential. Snaps for them. It would be nice to see actual numbers like the ones I requested.
Data from hundreds of thousands of games minimizes the difference from the variables and isn't biased one way or another. If it turns out games with Ruin last 10 seconds longer and 5% more kills on average then that would be pretty good evidence that ruin is overrated. On the other hand if it turns out games with Ruin last 3 minutes longer and 25% more kills on average then that would be good evidence that Ruin has a big impact. If the results are somewhere in the middle then it would make for a good debate.
But unless that kind of data is released then all we can argue about is our "feelings". I don't know about you, but that feels like a waste of time to me.
If I show you games where it wasn't needed, it proves it's not REQUIRED. It might HELP, but it's far from REQUIRED. FOOD, is required, without it you have a 100% chance of death. You chance of failure without ruin is NOT 100%, therefore, it's not REQUIRED. Key word in this is required.
-
@ILoveHarlem said:

I agree, just you are going to need some sort of game slow down perk, groot used pop in that pic you are quoting so that's enough said.
There's several choices you can use for game slowdown. Even that's not REQUIRED though. I know I like watching ScorpionZ play Piggy with a build of brutal strength, enduring monitor and whispers. When I played OG Freddy, I also had no slowdown perks.
-
@Dreamnomad said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/715725#Comment_715725
Individual games prove nothing. There are numerous variables involved in any particular game. So much of a game is determined by the first 2 minutes of the game. Let's just look at a short list of variables every game has that can have a significant impact on the outcome of the game.
- Chosen killer
- Add ons of killer
- Perks of killer
- Offering of killer
- Latency of killer
- Hardware of killer (type of pc, speakers, headset, controllers, etc)
- Experience of killer compared to experience of survivors
- Mindset/Mood of killer (hungry for kills vs just having fun etc)
- Map
- Generator locations on map
- Pallet locations on map
- Basement location on map
- Hook locations on map
- Chest locations on map
- SWF vs Solo survivors (voice comms/coordinated vs no communication/coordination)
- Equipment and addons of equipment brought by survivors.
- Perks brought by survivors
- Mindset/Mood of survivors (escape at all costs vs just having fun etc)
- Latency of survivors
- Hardware of survivors
That is just a partial list of things that can influence the outcome of any one game. So saying something like "remember that one time that that one guy had a good game with that one killer even though he didn't use ruin" truly means nothing at all. The only way to get anything resembling actual evidence would be for the devs to release data gathered from hundreds of thousands of games. These are the questions I would like answered by BVHR regarding Hex: Ruin. All questions I want broken down into 2 categories. Red rank killers vs all ranks.
What is the average % of games where the killer uses Hex: Ruin?
What is the average kill % of games when the killer uses Hex: Ruin?
What is the average kill % of games when the killer does not use Hex: Ruin?
What is the average time when Hex: Ruin is used before the hex totem related to Hex: Ruin is destroyed?
What is the average game length when the killer uses Hex: Ruin?
What is the average game length when the killer does not use Hex: Ruin?
How about it @Peanits? Can we get some data so we can have an intelligent debate instead of just hyperbole and anecdotal evidence?
Random things like "chest location" has nothing to do with ruin. Plenty of ppl have done perfectly fine without it. For myself, I first hit rank 1 without even unlocking ruin and playing as Freddy before his rework, when he was "the worst killer". The variables like "chest location" didn't slow me down.

But is not fair not to consider the average player, which is most of the player base. Not everyone gets to red ranks or plays every day, so saying you have to use it cause you are not good enough doesn't seem fair and kind of makes my point.
Even if you are an average player ruin shouldn't be soooo necessary
At the lower ranks, they're also going against lower ranked less experienced survivors. Ruin isn't mandatory there either.
-
Ruin might be popular, but many ppl have proven it's not REQUIRED. The idea of all teams you've beaten must've been potatoes while the dreaded OPTIMAL survivors would've stomped you is silly. I saw a nice screenshot of @GrootDude getting a 4k with no ruin on Bubba yesterday. Why isn't THAT worth anything?
-
Ppl who wanna "show their newbie friends the ropes" can just play KYF. Throwing your newbie friend into a normal SWF match isnt teaching them anything except how to hit skillchecks on gens, while you do EVERYTHING ELSE. At least with KYF, you can show them the basics of looping and such while you or another friend runs a mock chase as the killer.
The idea of a rank 1 survivor joining a rank 15 killer's lobby to "help" their rank 20 teammates is a joke. Just like your rank 20 teammates dont wanna face enemies WAY out of their skill lvl, neither does a rank 15 killer. The difference is you get to choose to have your teammates go against a rank 1 killer, as opposed to showing them the ropes in KYFs and letting them have their rank 20 matches without you screwing with the matchmaker.

@pemberley said:
Of course killers can be toxic, no question. We have all faced some nasty killers at some point ie. Those purposely dragging out the last death as a sign of dominance rather than curiosity for the egc, Leatherfaces wearing blackface who camp on party streamers etc.
But in my experience playing both sides, toxic people tend to gravitate towards the survivor role and survivor toxicity is much nastier and pervasive than killer toxicity. Toxic people tend to play together and it’s much easier and cowardly to band up against the 1 vs the 1 against 4. Survivors will also rub it in a killer’s face as long and as obnoxiously as possible.
Killers are also more likely to play fair in an uneven match and show kindness. Survivors sense things are in their favor and they bully and milk points while the killer gets squat. Rarely have I ever seen a survivor willingly sacrifice themselves so the killer could have SOMETHING. Even getting hit, survivors taunt and refuse to let the killer touch them before scooting out in a sure escape. Last night I gave myself up to a beginner nurse who got the snot kicked out of her by the other 3, and she downed me and took me back to the exit gate still even when I indicated it was okay for her to kill me.
The simple truth is survivors are more toxic - 4x as toxic to be exact. Toxic killers exist but it’s nowhere on the same level as survivor.
Just wondering, what's wrong with Bubba wearing the Claudette face?
-
Had a game the other night that kinda just emphasizes what DS does for ppl. Someone got unhooked and I managed to QUICKLY down the rescuer. Could've slugged and gone after the unhooked too but thought...meh. Hooked my new victim, just to have the guy with the now active DS try coming in for a save 5 seconds later instead of trying to recover or anything... Downed him next to the hook. Oh boy... I sure tunneled THAT guy. Got plenty of flack for tunneling in endgame chat of course.

I'd prefer someone standing on a hill to sitting between both gates any day. unless the hill is between both gates. in which case you're double screwed.
The main building in the middle of the map...is gonna be between both gates... Your gonna be spotted without the killer having to take a step.
-
@Mat_Sella said:
Just make a minimum Distance and a Maximum Distance and add at least one LoS blocker between both gates. all problems for everyone solved.
Peanits explained why that's pretty much impossible awhile back. Maps like Mount Ormond has spots a killer can stand to see over pretty much all LOS blockers. In Mount Ormond case, standing on the 2nd floor of the main building will let you see both exits unless they spawned on opposite ends of the map.

Not the point. Needs to be fixed
Actually that's a fair point. If the gens got done, the killer can't camp 2 gates to prevent a team from opening them. A killer would have to leave a gate to chase someone away, opening up time for someone else to open it.
This gate issue is only a problem for a "last survivor" scenario, not any other.

Could it be Nintendo Switch version is using the servers then? Because I've had that and several matches where the killer wouldn't join the lobby first. It was survivors only and no killer. And the pallets are the enemy now, you drop a pallet on a killer and you get hit even when the animation for the hit didn't even start.
Wouldn't be surprised if they're using the servers for switch. Switch doesn't seem like a strong enough console to really be hosting matches (I could be wrong, just guessing).
-
They experienced double hits like that when testing dedicated servers. There was alot of hatchets that hit ppl multiple times or multiple ppl. I even saw a video of 1 hatchet downing an entire team (they lined up).

You are wrong. Tru3 says that nurse without addons has counterplay. But nurses with good addons have almost 0 counterplay.
Which part am I wrong on? That tru3 says nurse has counterplay or that it's ironic to use this video?

Probably because they realize depiping isnt really a punishment, and their getting ready to roll out their timeout mechanic soon to ACTUALLY address DCing.

Tru3 always was referring to base kit Nurse and NOT Nurse with additional blinks or range addons like in the video.
The devs already announced their going to be changing the addons, and the OP said nothing about addons. It would be silly for me to ASSUME OP is upset about addons instead of what they actually typed.

@LordGlint How about time spent in game? which is the first thing you see on any steam profile usually. -- Even just wearing p3 while my friends are in defaults gives one an inkling.
Cosmetics do not equate to skill. Ive seen rank 1s rocking out default skins and rank 15-20s with legacy. Time played in game ALSO doesnt equate to skill, especially since you can have someone who spends 95% of their time playing killer, and then swap to a survivor game. Ive seen some low rank potatoes with thousands of hours clocked.
-
If your going against a rank 15 killer...Than the killer clearly isnt "worth their salt". The killer isnt going to be able to see that you are not the same as your teammates. How would they POSSIBLY know that your on a different skill lvl as anyone else PRE lobby btw? Even a rank 1 killer isnt privy to that knowledge just by looking at your character.
-
I just think they should have it deactivate when they start doing an objective or something. If youve been working on a gen for 40 seconds, your clearly not being tunneled, lol. Same if you've unhooked someone else... You should be fair game to be chased at that point.

I agree that the community can be so sucky at points and not at all fun for peole beggining to play, but thats more of the community more than the game,
we can add a system where you can upvote and downvote survivors and killers and if you just massively get downvotes you would get that Dunce icon (the one in the game files) next to your name that sorts you with other people that have the dunce icon,
So toxic people get toxic people, you may argue that you might get longer waiting times but like you said theres so many toxic survivors that I think the game would mostly split into non dunces lmao and dunces.
Just a suggestion, Im not the most experienced player so, I just play around too have fun and try to make the game as enjoyable as I can for survivors. (Killer Main)
Theyre not going to do that for the same reason they dont have a "block player" option. Ppl use it on skilled players they dont want to play against. Overwatch had a block player option for awhile until they noticed one of the best Widowmakers in the world (who was also known to be very nice) had HUNDREDS of blocks.
-
Gonna have to go with Clown. While I love playing as Freddy, the "Spirit fingers" he does for his blood wipe animation is dumb.

1.keep your item, your offering,
2.your rank stay the same and pip also stay the same,
3.you get to see what killer it was
4.what perks along with what other survivors item and perks as well
You cant see what killer it is or anything BEFORE DCing though, so the idea of DCing because the killer was so and so and had this and that is ridiculous. The only thing the ppl in these vids saw of our killer was his survivor puddings.

Anyway that reminds me that I've been holding on to something since February
Have you ever wondered, "What is the worst video ever made of DBD?" what could possibly be DBD's video version of the Nasty Patty?
The answer is clearly this
-Bandicam footage logo
-AMD relive recording
-Resolution made of grainy pixels
-Hard-Ware lag spikes creating freeze frames and choppy footage
-Red rank Old Freddy gameplay
-And More
