I was one of the people pushing back against the Freddy redesign because i really loved his old dream mechanics and infinite wall hacks. But man, new Freddy is greeeeeeeeeeat. I just spent the entire Blood Hunt dumping a ton of BP into him, and getting him topped off with all unlocked perks (which, for me, is currently 59 of 63 killer perks). He's now my second killer after Spirit who is completely "caught up" in this way.
I hear ya. I was also SUPER iffy on the rework when it was first shown. "You mean to tell me his snares are like Clown's bottles? Great... so hes gonna be trash." Im so glad I was wrong. Currently, I have both him and Myers with full perk lists. Hoping to eventually do the same to the other killers... I tried replacing ruin with surge on him this weekend...not bad.

Borrowed Time should still work against Freddy if you're awake though, right?
If someone is trying to unhook right infront of the killer, many times they force a hit so they dont get grabbed by "faking" an unhook before actually doing it. I hit the guy BEFORE he unhooks though, and he falls asleep. Due to STBFL, I can typically down both people right away depending on how many stacks I have at the time, including the guy who WOULDVE had BT.

Oh, once I break the news to Doctor that he's no longer my #1 BP farmer.
I'm not sure how well he'll take it... he'll probably be shocked. 😋
Love how you even changed your PFP. Now you know why I'm so nuts about him. got to download the new DLC this weekend and swapped out ruin for surge...feelsgoodman

Imma try learning him on my GF's account b4 I put myself under the stress of playing him against abunch of red ranks.
-
At first I read the title and just thought...no kidding. Next you'll tell me about a Nurse that teleported around.
-
Id just like DS to deactivate if a survivor starts doing an objective or something. That moment when you run into a situation where someone has DS, so they go for an unhook knowing you cant pick up either person now... Not just that, but if your breaking a totem or working on a gen...you're CLEARLY not being tunneled. Hate getting a gen grab, only to get a DS right after...

Like anyone is awake during a match with Freddy. That's not a valid argument.
Its actually pretty common for ppl to wake up against Freddy. After an unhook, the unhooked person wakes up their rescuer. Doing this helps with the healing afterwards as well since addons like Jumprope lower action speed. I say this as a Freddy main who keeps hearing the clap clap snap snap around the corner and wish theyd just cut that ######### out, lol.
As far as the BT thing goes... I feel like ppl still dont know this one. I keep having Bills go for saves right infront of me. Bill eats the dust, and I run STBFL...so the unhooked guy goes down too. DS is still a thing though, So I still typically dont rehook right away.

Really that is how a lot of things feel to survivor and it works like that. I just think it would be a bit fun for a survivor to get their own little buff even if it's with Items instead of just alone you know? It makes it more thrilling for killer and survivor unless you're one of those try hards who don't have fun with anything other than winning EVERY game. I just think it would be a fun thing to experiment with even if it's not brought into the actual game and it should be something they look into eventually esp with where they're going with killers! It would just overall be cool to experience!
Well...Claudette has built in invisibility... Thats a power that Wraith is still working on doing as well as she does.

Yep, Watch Monto. Seems fine most of the time...and then, becomes a right "braggart"
Plus his editing drives me nuts. Amazing how he always get's 4 kills isnt it. Or, his first go at Demogoron. He says, right, lets try again or something....Try again? Right, what are you hiding?
Monto does have bad games as well, or games where Ppl DC or suicide on hook, ending the game too quick to bother putting in the video. Alot of times for these videos, he'll add a little snippet of the "failed" game.

I'm stuck at level 15 Survivor and level 14 Killer. No, this isn't a joke post. This is how bad I am. I'm partially colorblind and my visual acuity absolutely sucks. I'm like a T-rex (or at least its purported myth), if an object isn't moving, I can't see it. Plus, i'm on klonopin most of the time for my akathisia. Weee!
Who else sucks as much as I do? Why are you so bad? Why do you have such a problem, like me, of gettin' gud? Any advice for t-rex noobs on klonopin? If you make fun of me ill cry.
Id suggest giving Doc a shot. His power helps negate alot of stealth, making tracking aton easier. Think of Doc as tracking training wheels. When I first started, I had alot of trouble finding and keeping track of survivors, so I played alot of Doc until I got abit better at it.
-
One thing I've noticed is the sheer volume of Killer powers and perks in this game. As someone who's played this game for awhile, experimented with different killers first hand and been here when more abilities are revealed, I'm pretty seasoned in what each killer can and can't do. We're getting to the point however that new players don't really have this wealth of knowledge. "That Myers over there sure is really nice! Hes just watching me do my gen and not attacking... Whats with that music?"
We have ingame tutorials, but I really feel like they should be more indepth at this point, maybe going as far as having a page dedicated to each killer as they are released showcasing what to expect from each.

If she’s visible than survivors should ALSO be visible to her. That’s only fair.
That would then turn her into the easiest killer in the game to play and we don’t want that now do we?
Do you really think that’s the smartest idea?
She'd be exchanging HER sight for increased speed. It would be similar to going against a killer that can activate bloodlust 12 on command. That would still be very strong, lol.
-
Id actually swap some of the aspects of her and Wraith... IMO its kinda weird that Wraith has to spend time UNCLOAKING to attack when hes the one whos still technically visible. What if they made Wraith truly invisible, and Spirit have the shimmer. In exchange, Spirit could have infinite invis.

Yeah, Temple isn't as bad as some of the others. Those loops of downed pillars though. Damn things are long and easy to see the killer over.
I typically hold down the temple itself, as well as the areas beside and behind it. The loops your talking about are INFRONT of the temple. If you play smart going in, you only have to deal with 4 or 5 pallets the whole game.
-

Exactly.
Also Temple of Purgation.
Also any of the boxes loops at McMillan.
Also most of Haddonfield.
Easily half the loops of most maps have absolutely no mind games possible.
I actually LIKE the temple. Half the map is QUITE killer sided if you dont let those gens get done.
-
@Tzeentchling9 said:
Because it's boring, requires very little skill or thought, and there isn't much many killers can do about it except just take it.
People whine and complain about Spirit not being a "real" mind game, but they are perfectly fine with a large amount of loops being completely out of the Killer's control because they can be seen over the loop at all times.
This...
When there's huge areas of the maps with completely unmindgameable pallet loops, it becomes obvious that the match is just going to become 1 long dull time sink. Loading into blood lodge or Gas Heaven is a groaner for much of the roster.

So, I don’t actually think that, but with the opinion a lot of people hold, it seems that way. Let me explain. I’ve just recently come back from a 10 month break, so my rank is pretty low (just got to 8 as killer a few days ago). Thing is, I was rank 1 on both sides for quite a while before I quit, so I was used to the high rank meta.
Why do I mention this? Because of the matchmaking changes. It makes killer far too easy outside of the dreaded 4-man rank 1 swf. I know it’s not the overly popular option among killer mains (at least here it seems), but it’s not that hard at high ranks. I’d say 1 out of 5 games are those super sweaty try hard high ranks who just want to end games in 3 minutes. Even at rank 1, there are large variations in skill. The difference between a 500 hour rank 1 and a 1500 hour rank 1 is noticeable.
This brings me to my point finally. The matchmaking changes do not benefit skilled killers at all. I get that was kinda the point, but most players here (at least by contents of their post egos) shouldn’t care. That rank 19 new player who’s never got a 4K shouldn’t affect you if you’re good. It seems to me most people who are happy about these changes are just awful at the game, so why are we catering to bad killers? It now makes more killer game boring. Why? You either get full try hard games, or games where it’s stupidly boring to kill someone. Honestly, if I’m rank 1 killer, I should never play a survivor below purple ranks, and even then, it’s easy. I don’t care if there’s two rank 1’s in a swf, I don’t want to face incompotent survivors, swf or not.
Now, I know this will make people scream that I’m survivor biased, I’m not. These changes mean nothing to me, I can stil get pips and bp, regardless if I survive the trial.
Tl;dr: Everyone here is actually bad at the game, and just like to whine over stupid things.
The change to matchmaking wasnt to benifit GOOD killers, but rather to prevent a team of red rank survivors from getting in a newbie killer's lobby. Since matchmaking has been jacked up for so long, alot of people are also kinda not in the rank they SHOULD be at. A buddy of mine who plays survivor was getting placed against killers non-stop between ranks 15-20 since rank reset, and of course kept pipping and double pipping til he hit rank 1. For now, we kinda just gotta wait for the dust to settle to see wha ranks people SHOULD be at. The day after the change, he of course lost every game he got in and deranked from it down to rank 4...

It depends on who I'm playing and how it's going. I'd say around 30k for a decent match on a non-farming killer like Myers, 50-60k on a decent match with someone more suited to BP grinding like Doctor.
If I'm playing a killer that's low level, doesn't have good perks unlocked, or that I'm unfamiliar with, it hovers more in the 15k-20k range. And, you know, the inevitable defeats that come with it.
I don't actually like playing Doctor much, I got him to 35 just for M&A on Myers, and I'm using him now for max BP during the hunt. I've pulled in around 100k a couple times, usually somewhere around 80k-90k during the event so far.
Honestly, I wouldn't have an issue with the BP totals if there weren't so many killers to level up.
I've been running into Abit of a loop on my Freddy with puddings and BPS. I'll use one, and between that and BBQ, get about 90k per game WITHOUT an event... With those points, I typically find another streamer or pudding. Since the event is only gonna be giving me another 30k or so... I don't sweat it.

That's certainly what I'm doing. I'm playing my butt off right now just so I can get all my killers to level 15. It doesn't sound like much but there's a lot of them. That's hundreds of thousands of blood points just to get all their perk slots unlocked.
That's not even unlocking their teachables or optimizing them in any way. Hundreds of thousands of BP just to get them functional, so they can have a full kit.
How much do you normally make per match?

If they aren't going for objectives and they aren't complete idiots, no, you generally won't.
I typically bring a generalized tracking perk like whispers. After enough practice...I can pretty much pin point a survivor as soon as that thing lights up.

For killers that need start up time to set up like Hag or Trapper etc. sure it's decent.
In general though for most killers it's pretty awful.
The reason is because any competent group of rank 1's will just wait out the timer without even going for the few gens available then that perk literally did absolutely nothing but just make the game start a couple minutes later essentially.
Just because they hide, doesnt mean I cant find them

Hitting DS is the most pleasing thing in the game.
It is in a very good spot. However, ideally a minor buff to counter slugging would do. For instance, after you got unhooked, perk is active for 100 seconds. If you get downed, and killer moves away from you for 16 meters, the perk timer is put on pause.
why would it need more time + have the timer paused for slugging?

I think corrupt intervention is good tracking perk because it theoretically makes survivors come closer to the center of the map. It doesn't impede generator progress though and since the killer can only really chase/pressure 1 or 2 survivors at most, generators will get done if the team is playing optimal at generators. If the survivors hide, than it also doesn't do much but it's very powerful with other tracking perks like discordance and whispers as those type of perks somewhat remove stealth from the game. Ruin is used a lot as perk because it allows killers to advance hook states of survivors without too many generators getting done. You can play the game without Ruin, but often, it forces the killer to slug if they want to win vs good optimal teams.
I'd say as far map design is concerned, the bigger the map, the harder it is to win as killer. If you ever wondered why some killers pick indoor maps like "The game" or Lery or the new hawkins laboratory, It has to do with the ability to pressure generators. pressuring generators isn't just getting people off generators, it's making them scared to repair them and indoor maps where you constantly hear terror radius make you question where the killer is. This is also why survivors usually pick Farm maps, Red forest , Mount Ormond Resort because those maps are so large that you physically can't pressure generators since it takes you like 40 seconds to walk from one side of the map to another. that's like half generator done. They're also really strong looping maps as most of the pallets are nearly all safe. On those maps, you'll basically just split the map in 2 and try to hook people on one side of the map to force others to come and help. There are some odd maps out there who also contain crazy loops, but most of the time, you don't need to commit to a chase that isn't worth winning, Some players run bamboozle to fix some of the imbalances of those crazy loops but I often question if that perk is really worth the perk slot.
I think moral of dbd is that if something is a problem in dbd, you just invent a perk to fix it. Is that healthy game design? I wouldn't know. but that's kinda how dbd works for both survivor and killer. you sort of just grow to accept those minor details in the game and move on.
For the bigger maps, its best to pick your battles more or less. If you see a gen off in the distance by itself...let it go. Many of the larger maps can be quite good for a killer if you know which areas to favor. For temple of purgation for example (one of my favs)... Protect the temple, the gen behind it and the ones to the side. The temple itself is a death trap to any survivor caught downstairs, so itll be free hits for days if you keep that gen from being done. The surrounding gens on the other hand typically only have 1 pallet each... The entire other half of the map INFRONT of the temple... You can write that off if you want. All of a sudden, a big map becomes alot more manageable if you think of it like this.

That's not true. You are testing for Ruins stall. So the control is just when you aren't using ruin.
If you used corrupt during the control tests then how would you know if the difference was due to corrupt being really bad or really good depending on the outcome? You wouldn't, because the comparison point you actually need is when there is no ruin, since that way the stall is simple time with ruin minus time without ruin. Why overcomplicate things by adding more variables?
Your test would just prove that having a perk to give time...gives time. That doesnt mean it gives more kills or anything like that. I also wasnt saying to use corrupt for a test, but rather that people do infact use a perk inplace of ruin that lasts the whole game. That perk doesnt HAVE to give time, but could simply be to make the limited time given more valuable and to provide pressure by ending chases faster. But yes... if you want to run a 1 perk build using ruin while standing in a corner, then do it again without perks... You'll probably notice results until the survivors inevitably get bored and run around looking for you. Last time I did this as wraith...they found me...standing in a corner, invisible.

I doubt that that's even 1% of parties. More like 0.001%.
How many survivors are there who even have 3000 hours in this game? And how many of them actually run meta perks? I bet most people who have that much time are bored of the meta and are running funny builds.
The complaint is ridiculous.
The devs actually have it set up so those survivors ALL go to him. The rest of us get NORMAL games while he gets games against mind reading wizards.

I keep forgetting plague and her perks, to be honest. CI is a different kind of hindrance with other drawbacks. It doesnt affect the act of repairing, but places a restriction on the choice of gens.
Survivors who dont run into a blocked gen at the start will not even notice it's been in play.
In the same vein, survivors who can hit great skillchecks or dont get skillchecks at all will not be bothered by ruin.
Like mentioned in my original post, most "gen slowdown" perks dont affect survivors at full power unconditionally. Ruin isnt necessary or even reliable, totally agree. But it works until a survivor bothers to cleanse it, which apparently isnt happening much.
Since it affects the gens furthest from you, that's typically the gens survivors spawn at. Survivors working on the remaining gens have to get closer, which allows you more opportunities to pressure multiple survivors at once. Your much more likely to find multiple survivors on a gen if there's fewer gens available.

The original post DID say it. "Killers have no other option" and "it's ruin or lose".

Well, without taking instant heals or "delayed instant heals" into account, selfcare is more effective than searching 16 seconds for a healer...
Ruin isnt neccessary, but at worst it makes generators take atleast the normal time to finish, as it negates the skill check bonus.
I think ruin is used because all survivors are instantly affected for its full power. Compare to thana or DL for which 3 gens might be done before getting any noticeable slowdowns.
You could make the same use out of corrupt intervention though, which forces survivors to either travel toward you to do gens or waste 2 minutes waiting on the perk. Either way, you get some buffer from genrush at the point in the game where survivors hit gens the hardest. It's also ALWAYS consistent unlike ruin, which could last all game or 15 seconds.
