Way to many people DC and it gets aggravating for survivors and killers alike since people dip out at the first sign of trouble usually. So my solution/suggestion, is something from Dark Souls for their cheater problem. You stick people with others you have committed a similar crime or whateverfor x amount of games, and if they continually DC it could end up being a ban. What do you guys think of that?

Theyre currently working on a "timeout" system for once dedicated servers hit. The problem however is that ppl who dont want to play will just suicide on hook instead of DCing. Already had a case this morning of someone who ran up to me so I could easily down and hook them. While this DOES still give me some points and BBQ stacks...it has the same affect on the game in that the rest of the match becomes pretty killer-sided with a 3 vs 1.

Agree with your suggestions and OP's.

I tried running the perk, it feels lackluster and doesn't do the job. Felt less than mediocre.

Ive running it on my Freddy with Pop. Figured I down someone to start regressing nearby gens, then hook the guy and teleport across the map to Pop a gen thats obviously not affected by surge. Playing Huntress this morning though and occurred to me just how useless this perk is on her.

  • @Blueberry said:

Make it on any down, not just basic attacks and remove the cooldown.

Now it's decent and some people would run it.

Thats what I was saying with points 1 and 3

during the games I played as survivor as my dedicated server testing, I said CONSTANTLY that these dedicated servers suck, no one disagreed and I got ALOT of agreed's also I got other people also saying they are probably not gonna play anymore games for the rest of this test. and that is SURVIVOR SIDE, it is worse for killer side so I would think that more would quite from their side

Im seeing some pretty drastic improvements from when they activated dedicated servers for the Stranger things DLC on PTB. Been playing Huntress all morning and it ISNT completely unplayable, lol.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

The third point is probably the most important. Why da heck should i use "Surge", when it don't even triggers on 75% of my downs.

Its really weird that the perk comes from Demogorgon, who cant even proc it using his shred attack.

  • Probably best to see how it is after PTB. The whole point of PTB is testing, so if it was shown for taking longer than expected, they can always adjust it when it goes live.

  • Was half expecting to hear Dueling Banjos when I clicked on HillBilly.

  • I would suggest using Restraint addons with moldy electrode. When you find a survivor, get them up to at least tier 2. Thisll let you keep track of them using illusionary Doctors for the rest of the match. Moldy electrode is a nice balance between extra range without making your charge time TOO much.

The thought of giving up Dead Hard really hurts, but having Bond and Prove Thyself could be pretty sweet. It seems like I need to shepherd my fellow teammates.

Bond greatly helps coordinate things, even without using coms. You'll be able to tell where gens are, by seeing your teammates auras working on them. You'll be able to tell if your teammate is about to run the killer through your area, so you can make yourself scarce. The other day, had a teammate manage an unsafe unhook from the basement. Both of em ran out injured with the killer on their ass. Because of bond letting me know what was happening...I jumped down the stairs behind them to give the bodyblock they needed.

Spinechill on the other hand... That I use to know when the killer is coming my way. I'll stay busy until I see spinechill turn on for afew seconds, then kinda just ghost away.

For me, it's mostly that I have nothing on survivor side. David's my highest at level 6, I think. And yeah, I'm not escaping most matches so I've just tried to get as much BP as I can while getting as close as possible. I suppose I can see the bad habits forming that you're referring to.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/756555#Comment_756555

I think I'm just burnt out on killer right now. Even on Freddy, I'm not really having any fun. It could just be the rank disparity, but one thing I like about trying survivor is that the game kinda feels like a survivor horror again. There are both lulls and climaxes in action, whereas I feel like killer is just nonstop go-go-go.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/756561#Comment_756561

I'm kind of a loner by nature and that's part of what makes killer appealing to me. I'm willing to concede that maybe I've just ranked up beyond my skill level and perhaps I should just eat a few losses to fall back where I should be, but the whole game is starting to feel stale.

I don't really feel anything when I play killer anymore, survivor feels like an actual "experience".

I understand. As far as perks go, I'd say try giving Dwight a shot. Bond is one of my go-to survivor perks, with spinechill being my other.

I still don't think they are as crazy powerful as some people like you make them out to be. They are just a better version of Clown gas, that's all. You still need to break pallets all day with Snares Freddy.

If used at the wrong spots, yeah. If used correctly, you'll get hits before the pallets are ever thrown. Theres only ever a handful of actual SAFE pallets on any given map, every other pallet you can score a hit at

  • I can have fun with both. I've gotten to the point with killer that I'm proficient enough to not stress out. With survivor, which I'm not as good at... I play "Operation: Hide like a #########" and get work done before stealthing away. Survivor feels kinda exciting when I'm trying to get work done with a killer nearby. If I have a rough game and get annoyed at ######### teammates... I swap to killer where I only gotta rely on me.

  • I typically end up stumbling across the hatch while doing normal stuff toward the end. It IS nice that left behind has purpose now though.

  • Haven't really been able to try it out for myself yet. I only REALLY have time to play on the weekend. Last Halloween event was pretty grindy, so I'm not worried about not finishing, kinda expected that. As far as the pass alone goes... I'll see for myself how rough the grind is b4 bitching, lol. I go into each game to play, not thinking about grinding for stuff. If I can get cool stuff while doing that...sweet.

  • I typically hop on the first gen I see, but if I notice my teammates are all in my area doing the same (bond ftw), I'll cross the map to hit the other side. The middle gen IS important, as well as super unsafe gens. It's easier to get the gen on the 2nd floor of Thompson house or in the basement of Temple of purgation when the killer has 7 gens to patrol as opposed to 3. These gens are typically free hits to the killer if they notice someone is on them.

Basement and shack gens arnt really special. Shack gen is pretty much just the same as any other gen situated in a jungle gym.

  • @Mochan said:

That's Azarov's. There are two maps like that. Azarov's and Suffocation Pit. Experienced survivors know to target middle gens first, then one on each side. Advanced survivors (who might have Alert) will 99% the gens on each side to screw with the killer.

It's funny when you do this, only to realize I have surge and your 99 gen has been regressing for awhile.

  • Always felt like having this would be SUPER helpful. Right now he's not exactly stealthy for a stealth killer, lol. When they made ghostface, they realized that telling every survivor around that he was using his power via sound cue was dumb... For some reason, Wraith's bell wasn't immediately thought of at this moment.

  • @UlvenDagoth said:

So people can see me to spam my steam profile with bad comments cause I play Legion? Nah

They can already do that by clicking your name on the endgame screen. OP is talking about being able to invite randoms you just played with to a SWF match without having to send friend requests first.

  • @Marcus said:

Freddy is really good right now.

Gen teleport is very good abd synergy with a lot of perks.

Snares are a little bit overrated, but they can still do a lot of work for you.

Pallets seems to be easy to counter, but they also can do work.

His non directional Lullaby makes him pretty stealthy and you can get free hits on sleeping survivors because of it.

Counter to BT added to his base kit.

So probably 5th place after Nurse/Spirit/Hag/Hillbilly ( however, I think Plague or Demogorgon might be better than him, but I am not sure yet )

Snares are powerful as fck if you know how to use em. If you just put them at the pallet, the survivor is just gonna toss the pallet...But if you know proper timing and placement, you can get a hit at most pallet loops. Maps with an overabundance of simple pallet loops like Bloodlodge is easy hits all day.

It's not like whispers. Whispers works in a circle and you're the center of the circle, Spin chill gives you direct information of which direction the killer is and where he is because of it's 36 meter directional range. At least with whispers you have to know how to use it properly and it doesn't point out which direction the survivor is.

Spine chill does NOT give you directional information. It merely lets you know the killer is looking in your direction, The killer could be coming from any direction and you wont know which from spinechill.

  • Personally, after having ruin blow up within a minute for so many games and spending the rest of the match with 3 perks, I swapped out ruin for surge on my Freddy. While ruin is nice while it works, Im liking the consistancy of using a perk that doesnt come with a risk. Games have been going pretty good, and this is currently at rank 2. Ive watched gameplay of other people who dont run slowdown perks at all, with "non-meta" killers and still do just fine.

  • I'm pretty sure hit detection is NOT client based, otherwise Huntress wouldn't be missing so much in dedicated servers.

  • Personally, I think it's pretty neat. It sets small goals for me to meet each game, while incentivizing me to use different perks or characters than normal. Alot of it though is just rewarding me for doing what I'd already be doing. I already play the game a decent amount for the fun of it, so it doesn't really feel like a grind to fix X amount of gens or hook X amount of survivors.

Honestly, I've liked freddy ever since I bought him around 2018, got to rank 1 with him before rework more than a few times, Sure the new freddy is cool but I miss the old freakster :(

If ya look, I've had my Freddy pfp since I joined the forums last year. It's definitely a different feeling. Old Freddy was more big picture planning, with you seeing and juggling everyone. Getting downs with him felt sly. New Freddy is pretty brute force. I haven't really seen a "bad" map for him yet. You wanna toss up a haddonfield offering? I'll STILL take ya on.

  • @PhantomMask20763 said:

I mostly play Ghostface at rank 1 with a variety of other killers mixed in and I do fairly well, Nurse is the most viable against the strongest 4man swf sweat team but since the matchmaking changes for swf I rarely see those. It's mostly just new players trying to learn. Sometimes it's obvious so I give them loads of chances but other times I don't notice and kill them :(

That moment you THINK someone is new, so you go really easy on em... Then find out they're rank 2.

Yes Freddy is strong with that build. I was doing a solo survivor run the other day and my 3 team mates all DC. Shortly after I was outplayed by Freddy and died, when we returned to the lobby. It turns out my 3 team mates were SWF and they said "never bring that again". Safe to say its a frustrating combo and works well, still no excuse to DC and then talk crap at the end.

As for the OP, I agree I have seen many good killers in red ranks who are not playing Nurse/Spirit however it is usually one of them when the team gets stomped. Last match I played vs Spirit I beat her to the hatch by 1 second.

You on PC? If so...what's your steam name?

    96H5A30ZGF67.jpg

    This you?

  • I think of it similar to a fighting game, where ya have to get hits in on an opponent that's really good at blocking. Then you have those 2, which are the guys who pick the boss characters of the fighting game that spam unblockable attacks and insist you get good at dodging, lol. If your not use to having to get past someone's defenses NORMALLY, you'll likely think it's "not viable".

  • @Rivyn said:

I think what has me most annoyed over anything, is that when they first announced Nurse being looked at, they said their primary focus was on her addons, while her base kit would be getting 'slight tweaks.' Their words. Slight tweaks.

This is most certainly NOT a 'slight tweak.'

Pretty much this. I dont even play nurse. I just dont like being lied to. This is gonna end up being the new meme now. "Were just gonna look at ____ for slight tweeks" -Fetches sledgehammer-

  • Meh... They'll probably rework some of her addons, with a slight itsy bitty super microscopic tweek to her base-kit 😉

Well thats an un-origonal suggestion, but how exactly would you nerf them?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/740114#Comment_740114

Yes, that's what I was getting at. Would I be thrilled about it no, but I would love to have either or the survivor nerfs I mentioned implemented. Gotta be willing to give if you're wanting to take.

That would just cause ppl to not play Bubba. Why play him if hes just gonna be a Legion who cant vault fast or sprint and requires you to charge it up.

  • @Frosty said:

I would add a 5 second blocker for recently downed survivors to threshold that they must cross to win the game. Thus ending the "na na Boo boo" game that's played and also have 2 hooks spawn every game in the exit gate space.

    Or

Give all survivors a total amount of damage they can receive before becoming broken for the remainder of the round.

To nerf killers, let's go with all one hit down add-ons and abilities give the survivor a mega speed boost for 3 seconds and a bleed out timer of a minute that would take 20 seconds to mend. (numbers could always be tweaked)

So Bubba's chainsaw gives deepwounds instead of being an instadown?

Our brains are more highly attuned to negativity than positivity. Yeah, that one guy was really unnecessarily rude. But everyone else wasn’t. I see a lot of ggs in end game chats. A LOT.

I'm not saying you wont have ANYONE being nice. Like I said, I like to stick around and chat abit. Sometimes if I see its a streamer, Ill join their stream to chat. I see ALOT of hate messages though, along with the normal complaints of tunneling and such. Just because you got found next after I hooked your teammate across the map from you... doesnt mean I tunneled you. Just means your teammates are better at hiding, lol

I HAVE though added plenty of ppl to my FL that were pretty chill at the endgame screen.

Not if i butt dance on it first! Survivor's rule pg.5097 paragraph 16 sub-section 4 states: Whoever butt dances on thy totem is theirs.

Ill remember this next time I play ghostface or Piggy. Just butt dance on my totems and survivors arnt allowed to cleanse it.

  • I think it might be kinda hard comparing "importance". If I was to say Adrenaline was of equal importance as NOED, you'd have ppl who agree and ppl who strongly disagree.

  • From my experiences, the ppl who stick around to have a legitimate chat with you are far outnumbered by the ppl who just wanna cuss you out for winning. No matter what you ACTUALLY did ingame, you tunneled and camped EVERYONE at the same time, lol.

    20190702015330_1.jpg

Feel like I should make a special folder for these moments. During the 3 year aniversary event, I had THIS game where almost everyone used event cake offerings. Decided as soon as I saw the offerings that Id let everyone escape, and would just slug em when they got to deathhook. Eventually it got to the point that I was still beating them so badly... some of them hit stage 2 on first hook and some of them were on the verge of bleeding out on the ground so I had to pick them up myself and let them go. I kinda lost track of who I still needed to hook, and this was the result.

  • @BluEmotion said:

Fact: most of my red ranked games are SWF, but 1-2 people are in green or yellow rank. I once saw a rank 20, poor baby. He didn't make it.

Sometimes when I see someone in my red rank game who CLEARLY shouldnt be there...I just assume theyre new. I end up finding them easy and downing them easy, while seeing them waste the speedboost they get from the first hit by running into a rock. Eventually, theyre on deathhook and Im just like...hopefully this guys friend comes to heal him up before he bleeds out...

The funny part is the times I look in the endgame screen to see that person was actually red rank and just sucked. I HAVE seen alot of new players though and feel bad everytime I kill them.

I’m pretty sure people are talking about DC’s that aren’t because of the player themself. I was playing with my friend earlier and he DC’d nearly every match. It wasn’t because of him pressing DC, and he actually got so sick of it that he quit. It’s something with the servers.

You can tell the difference between the 2. Theres a sound effect that plays when someone DCes by hitting the button.

  • @Regionlock said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/739961#Comment_739961

I agree that there are scenarios where people leave for silly reasons and it sucks, but we can't pretend like there aren't understandable reasons sometimes.

Matches in this game are short just move on. Reward the killer with DC players hooks and don't punish them for the DC on their emblems. This is the real reason why anyone cares about the DC anyways. They are sad that they might lose a ranking that means absolutely nothing. Keeping Rank 1 in this game means nothing.

I dunno bout that. Early DCes just ruin the entire rest of the game, if there is one left to ruin. Waiting to get into a game, just to have it ruined because I made the grave mistake of downing someone too fast... That person DCes as soon as they get downed, and often times is followed by more. Points are nice and all, but I log on to play as I'm sure the other survivors did as well. It ends up just becoming a huge waste of time, offerings and addons.

Personally, I cant wait til the timeout system is implemented. Too often, ppl DC when things go south because they can hop into another match right after that might be a "better match" where they wont be the one getting found first. As been said though by other on here... Ppl will still just suicide. I remember during last years hallowed blight event, survivors farming as much as they could for their vials, then finding me to suicide right after so they can move on to the next farming match...

  • @Regionlock said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/738797#Comment_738797

So you're asking the devs to force players to endure the unfun experiences at any cost because you're definitely gonna continue to fund their pockets by yourself, right? "Just endure that face camp, and sit in the match slugged till you bleed out"

What we have currently isn't even a proper ranking system. There is absolutely zero incentive to stay in certain matches. People will leave even with your change proposal.

League of Legends has a timer and people to this day leave games. Their matches last upward to 30-40min so leaving those matches is more impactful compared to how short DBD matches are. It's understandable for their game, but here I'm dbd it's a little silly.

A better solution would be to figure out a way to incentivize people for staying in matches regardless of how enjoyable they are.

While there might be face camping and such, theres also teams of ppl who DC within seconds of the game even starting. You can't blame facecamping when someone hits the "leave match" button before I even have control of my character

I agree, but first of all the game needs to have a six months break to be made fully playable.

Bugs to remove, maps to fix, loops to shorten. The game is borderline unplayable with all of this bugs

New bugs get found with every patch. Taking a 6 month break isnt going to stop more bugs from surfacing later. Even stuff that wasnt broken or even TOUCHED during a patch somehow gets a bug. Wakeup wasnt touched at all when somehow after being in the game for a year...it got a bug.
