Oh gosh I am also in the red ranks and I'm so upset that it will take me ages to derank to green ranks... I wish I had those super fast depip games but it takes five to eight mins for a killer game

i dont bother deranking (on purpose), and instead just beat red ranks. It DOES kinda suck when trying to learn a killer I'm not proficient at yet though.

  • You cant really expect the developers to stop trying to make money and somehow still expect them to pay their employees. Each time they release aDLC, they get a big cash flow that helps pay the bills til the next DLC comes along. Theyre trying to do alternative methods to make money with their battlepass system they announced, or cosmetic outfits, but it seems like people are rioting over both with many complaining about battlepasses in general or complaining about the price of the cosmetics. You'll find severl posts on these forums saying it takes too many shards to buy the higher end cosmetics, and their not willing to fork over the cash to buy it strait out.

    Sure I can.

It’s based around the complexity of their power (or powers). To a much MUCH lesser degree, their starting perks too.

For example: I understand why Wraith is listed as intermediate.

    • you cannot injure anyone while cloaked.
    • You’re not completely invisible so you still need to put thought into your approach on a suspected survivor location.
    • You have to “charge” cloaking and uncloaking, a teeny bit less intuitive than simply tapping a button. It’s easy for beginners to not realise they haven’t actually uncloaked, and still can’t attack.
    • Once uncloaked you have no other ability to assist you.
    • His unique perks only assist with helping track/find survivors, nothing more.

Are you suggesting it is easier to pick up and use Billy's chainsaw than it is to pick up and use Wraith or Myers?

  • This is one thing I always thought funny about posts like this. If you understand why something was nerfed... why bring it up? I mostly just see this kind of thing on posts trying to compare the AMOUNT of nerfs survivors/survivor things have gotten in comparison to the aount of nerfs killers/killer things have gotten.

Theres been plenty of videos online showcasing just how horribly broken many things were when they were originally released. Being able to selfcare faster than a killer can finish the bloodwipe animation due to stacking botany knowledge and we'll make it...was broken. Being able to vault back and forth between 2 windows sitting next to each other indefinitely while remaining completely safe...was broken. Being able to Sprint burst every 20 seconds...was broken.

I really don't like the idea of doors slowly opening, because it would mean more holding the game hostage. They would become immersed and just wait out a door until it opens then make their escape(s).

It's better to just open the door yourself.

You need to know who to go after in those situations if a survivor is running away from a gate. You got to think do you want that one kill? Are you planning on camping them or going back? Are you going to slug them or hook them? How fast can you down them and get to the gate etc, It's kind of the same idea of a 3 gen strategy.. Instead of fully committing to the survivor you got to drop sometimes and go back and check on the gens. It's very situational as well, like are the exit gates nearby each other? Plus how many survivors do you have left. There's better strategy's to do I think.

Nobody suggested the doors should slowly open. OP was suggesting the door's progress should slowly regress if they havent been fully opened, similar to how gens regress after being kicked. An example would be a door left at 99% might be found later after a minute at 70%.

The ones labeled in the difficulty advice as “easy” perhaps?

I most definitely DO NOT recommend any beginner trying out Nurse, Doc, Freddy, Myers, Spirit, or Ghostface. They’re listed as “hard” for a very good reason.

The game's difficulty rating is a complete joke. You cant tell me with a strait face that Billy (easy) is easier to learn than Wraith (intermediate), or that Huntress(intermediate) is easier to learn than Myers(Hard)...

  • I like looking at each new killer and perk and trying to come up with some interesting combos. A perk doesnt have to be meta and work with EVERY killer and build to be useful. Its the oddball builds that somehow have synergy with either 1 of a handful of killers thats just...fun. Between that and the wide spectrum of killer powers.

  • @Milo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/738464#Comment_738464

They mean like "Is she using her power? Or just faking it? Is she vaulting or not" Stuff like that are just a coin-flip.

Simple things like animations that literally every other killer in the game has, is for some reason too much to ask for from a Spirit. Every killer in the game has visual animations when they're using their power, as well as oftentimes audio cues. A huntress pulling back a hatchet has the hatchet VISUALLY wind up as well as the audible grunting. The lack of an animation for vaulting is just kinda silly since she DOES have an animation on HER end.

  • They said theyd do it whenever they can afford to do so. I think maybe once the battlepass system is earning them more cash, they MIGHT be willing to throw us a freebee DLC.

  • Typically itll continue searching for opponites and slowly open up the rank limit more and more until it can find ppl. The ppl you ultimately get matched against might not be rank 20... but its something. Also helps if you do this after the 13th when ppl get hit by rank reset.

  • @NinoV1 said:

I think dying light is much better now, but the devs do seem to cave into pressure pretty easily.

Im actually HOPING for a rework to insidious, now that OP mentions it, lol. Would be nice if it was turned into something that was actually useful in a normal game instead of just meme builds.

  • Your primary objective is to escape. If NOED is preventing you from doing your primary objective, than doing totems to aid in your primary objective of escape should be higher on your priorities. Anytime you run past a totem without cleansing it, just to get hit by NOED later... You only have yourself to blame.

  • While tunneling and camping isnt against any rules, that doesnt mean the devs cant change or add perks in an attempt to persuade against it.

Pretty sure the reason those people dced because they thought it was 3 insta downs

They still stayed in the chat to talk ######### though, when at that point they can CLEARLY see what he had.

  • Ppl would STILL consider the addon OP. Tru3 put out a video the other day using only that 1 addon and no perks, and it still lead to instant DCes and salt in the endgame chat.

  • Do you mean like having a mori cosmetic so to speak, so you can purchase alternate moris on killers?

  • Was really hoping theyd be back to normal by now. Just got home from work and my weekend...starts...now.

  • It would be a direct Nerf to Claudette.

  • You said you checked your vod. You on twitch or something?

  • An injured Jane is always gonna sound like an overacting porn star. I suppose this is a good way of deterring killers from camping you. They dont want to stay near the hook incase someone walks past their door and doesnt believe that its just a videogame they're hearing over the speakers

  • @arslaN said:

Punishing dc's isn't going to fix anything. Survivors will kill themselves on hook if they don't want to play that match anymore.

A better solution would be to fix why survivors dc in some cases. No one enjoys going against broken addons like iridescent head huntress or prayer beads spirit.

Ppl DC for any number of reasons. I've had ppl DC against a completely mild build Myers, just because they got downed within the first minute. What's the "fix" to make THAT guy wanna stay? I couldn't even get him to a hook because he DCed while in my arms.

  • I don't really get to play during the week, so I'm sitting pretty at rank 2 atm playing my Freddy. Since I don't really play high ranked survivor, I sometimes wonder just how much of a unicorn I am in that I don't play Spirit or Nurse at high ranks. I'll take Freddy, Myers or Piggy atm, lol

  • @AkiTheKitten said:

I think the Huntress would be terrifying. She knows how to hunt in the woods, so it's only a matter of time until she gets me

In lore, she loves the woods. In practice... She's cursing EVERY tree, lol.

  • In all fairness, most perks work great on Nurse. Someone actually made this post about I'm all ears and Nurse about a week after Ghostface was released. Otz also did a video specifically to showcase the perk, although he used Piggy.

They changes the trainwheels add-ons to uncommon which just fills the bloodweb even more with useless stuff you never use.

    Common, not uncommon

  • This has quickly become one of my favorite maps. One of the few maps that i'll actually use map offerings to play on. I use to absolutely dread this map everytime it would pop up.

  • I'd rather wait longer for a decent game than get an instant match where hatchets constantly go through survivors.

  • @Gamzello said:

I don’t know if it will be the same for console if you meant that. But hopefully, I never play against any Nurse mains and I’ve been playing this game since the Clown was released.

  • @Mookywolf said:

probably. it would make learning nurse a lot easier. personally i may start trying out nurse after the rework.

I'm right there with ya. I've tried nurse MAYBE 5 times, but don't have the will power to get stomped for hours on end til I can finally blink accurately. I lvled her up though for her teachables... With this change... I might give it another go.

Well it's false; often you can be directly on a survivor, theyre in the middle of your screen, you hold M1, and it decides to suddenly face you upwards or to the side and you hit the sky or wood, etc.

Just telling ya what the devs said.

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

I'm going to have to try deliberately hitting away from the hook and hope autoaim corrects it so I get the unhooker instead of fresh air.

According to Mclean, there is no autoaim. The only thing they have is a sort of system to make the animation look smoother. When you click, the game says if you hit something or not, and the animation plays in a way to represent that.

Staying awake is a counter but a niche one. The only time you use a pallet is in a chase where you'll most likely be asleep or will soon be.

I thought it was an add-on too but I versed a Freddy yesterday with 2 brown add-ons so I thought "pallets is a brown add-on? That's stupid" but then I checked and it was written in his power description.

Not sure about Rainbow maps and small game. Rainbow maps can be good, small game will still be niche and a detriment to run in almost every game, unless you're not familiar with totem spawn locations.

Pallets are from addons, snares are the base power that gets replaced by pallets if one of the pallet addons are used. The brown pallet addon gives just pallets, while yellow and green versions also give you some aura reading on survivors who throw down pallets.

  • Personally I use Surge, Pop, BBQ and STBFL. Downing a survivor will cause all gens around to begin regressing from surge. This'll also give you a good idea on where survivors might be. If the gen is still sparking however, it means a survivor wasnt currently working on it, so you can hook your prey, use BBQ to find a new target on a gen across the map and use Pop on that gen before going in for another chase.

First off, while the Wraith is at cloak, when getting out of cloak mode his movement speed is reduced when ringing the bell. You can also tell when he is uncloacking with the addition of being able to prevent him from getting his movement speed when using a flash light while he is uncloaking.

Now compare to the Spirit, the suriviour gets no notification when the killer is phasing while he/she is within the killer's terror radius. This stops the whole point of mind gaming or long chases because there is nothing the suriviour can do other then get lucky that would miss her attack or go off another direction to where the suriviour is. Obviously if the killer is highly experience that won't work and majority of the time you will get knock down from trying that.

Not only that but there is nothing a suriviour can do to stop spirit while phasing or to restrict her movement when getting out of her phase mode, making her a way better version of Wraith.

Furthermore, as you know the spirit chases usually ends within 20 seconds (I'm not even joking) and to do a gen takes 80 seconds to do. It is the main reason why most of the time you see spirit users usually finish with 3 gens left (more if the killer isn't slugging). The thing about Nurse which you hardly hear a suriviour scream nerf (I think) is because she takes alot of skill and is rare to find a good nurse. Whereas the spirit, you don't have to time your phasing perfectly to hit a suriviour and you have a longer time to use your ability. There is also no drawbacks when phasing out other then your cool down which is nothing since you would most likely have a suriviour down and will get your phase back when you hook him.

You pretty much just reworded my point on a post from months ago.

    Stop bragging

Its hardly bragging... I saw the difference in killer queue times last night from a rank 2 killer getting a game in 2 minutes and a rank 17 killer getting one in 20.

  • Yesterday at rank 2 killer, I was having matches start after only waiting like 2 minutes. MY GF on the other hand at rank 17 killer... was like a 20 minute wait. Eventually it would bring in survivor groups around rank 12.

  • It works both ways really. While Ive seen plenty of ppl immediately DC when I try to ply a map offering for "The Game" or something, Ive seen plenty of streamers who will do the same if they see a Haddonfield map offering pop up. Personally, I dont do this... but others do. Hopefully DC punishments will curb this.

Interesting... I've always wondered about how useful that add-on would be in practice. I'll have to give it a try sometime. Now that I've got some real BPs going, I'll be less miserly with my consumables.

Any time You can break LOS at a loop, just wait for afew seconds... then strike. They'll predict that youll come around the corner immediately. Waiting even 2 seconds will make them start to second guess and youll know what side theyre leaning close to be able to score a hit. I do alot of my plays in T2 without really relying on the T3 instadowns. Playing like this though... you'll still get your T3, you just sort of get it as a biproduct.

Myers is one of those killers that I desperately want to enjoy, but he's very feast-or-famine -- either you snowball really hard, or you completely fall on your face. The thing that I love about Freddy (and Spirit) is that they are pure, 100%, highly mobile "relentless pursuit" killers who don't have to spend time "doing stuff" to prepare (Trapper has to pick up/set traps, Myers has to spend time stalking, Clown has to reload his bottles, etc.). Hillbilly is next on my list of killers to catch up with all perks, and then I think I will have my "mains" rotation finished.

To your point about Freddy: Yeah, he basically just replaces Clown's power set wholesale. He's so much fun.

For Myers, I like using the green glass shard addon, which gives you 5 seconds of aura reading whenever you stalk someone for 1 second. Doing this will let you screw with people around junglegyms that let you break LOS. I end up stalking for the aura reading so much, the T3 kinda gets ACCIDENTALLY prepared.
