Back in the good ol days. The Killers often could go and just let the last remaining survivor FARM POINTS. Pull pallets down and do 2 generators until the hatch would spawn and generally the killer would LET the survivor escape.
New Rules : Any type of point farming. Will be a PERMA BAN.
Players want DC bans. - Okay great. So this game IS the "Unreal engine" its not perfect and from a performance stand-point. It is still better than the Overwatch Engine. BUT... but.. U-R engine isn't always reliable and never is. it is the "Adobe flash player" of the programming world. To the best of my understanding. It is an AMAZING license agreement. Because it ALLOWS for Game companies to emerge from the earth and forge new game ideas. But it HAS issues none the less and is NOT perfect.
Farming is only bannable when its detrimental to one of the players. If your using Bond to lead the killer around to point out your teammates and then unhooking them... Thats bannable. If everyone involved is participating of their own will however, your fine.

I got into a game tonight as both survivor AND killer...for the first time since dedicated servers launched.
That's not great but at least it finally worked.
This game has a LOT of making up to do before I spend money on it again.
So...you played Nea? I can only ever join a game as one or the other.

The Killer does have to play against 4 other players, but 1 Survivor =/= a Killer. 4 Survivors = a Killer. You're making it sound like all odds are stacked against the Killer in an unfair 4v1, when the game is quite honestly pretty even. Because of this, I think Killers and Survivors should get roughly the same amount of bloodpoints.

Bond makes my rotation. I like Inner Strength for the time it saves. Adrenaline also makes it in if I keep having games where I'm hooked on last gen.
Bond I find is a HUGE timesaver. I see if my teammate is working on a gen, cleansing a totem, going for the unhook, ect. I now know, a gen is over there, If my teammate gets chased off, I can break that totem and the guy on the hook doesnt need me, help is already on the way.

In first place who cares.?
Why r upset about a survivor getting 1k points....? Out of 32k???
The point isnt the actual point value, but rather the fact that someone actually gets points for dying. Im always gonna find that dumb. Was the obsession like 3 times in a row the other night, cuz my buddy kept bringing DS, and it just turned into a running joke. "But hey...I got that obsession bonus"

As they should. They completely failed as a killer. That's like saying the survivor caught and found in 30 secs. And died on first hook deserves points for dying.
If they're the obsession, they get points for dying... Dumbest thing ever.

So as it is right now, blindness is one of the more underwhelming status effects. It really only works if the survivor is running an aura reading perk or you're running the third seal for a specific build. Either way it's still not very good. So an idea I had is what if blindness removed the red stain from the killer? I know we have undetectable for that but there are so many addons that have blindness on them that just aren't worth taking. What are your thoughts on this? Would it be helpful? Bad? Too good?
I like this idea. Atm, so many of the blindness perks and addons just seem pointless. Im litterally running Freddys blindness addon atm to counter a single perk (OoO).

I'm not saying the game does the balance well, I'm just saying that's what it's trying to do and that's why points are awarded the way they are.
The game's design is flawed. It's a horror game: as a survivor, the fear would come from being helpless and hiding from the killer. That's fine when the killer is an NPC. When the killer is an actual player, then hide-and-seek doesn't work, because if the killer is just wandering around on a map strugging to find anyone, then they're not going to have a fun time, and if players aren't having a fun time, they're not going to play. Fewer players = less money = no game.
BHVR doesn't know how to encourage survivors to interact with killers organically within the game itself, so they just have the scoring system reward survivors for doing it. The survivor can play how they want and earn fewer points, or they can play how the game wants and earn more points. It's a choice. Just like killers can choose to bring a mori and have fun slaughtering survivors but earn fewer points, or they can keep survivors alive longer and earn more points. The longer survivors are alive, the more fun the survivors have, so the more points a killer can potentially make. Again, it's a choice, and it's there for both sides.
Glowing Nea with clicky clicky flashlights runs in a circle afew times
Game- TAKE ALL THE POINTS!!!!
Me...fixing a generator while feeling the breath on my face of the killer who still hasnt noticed me
Game- you can have 3 boldness...

Spine Chill, Iron Will, Inner Strength, and the forth varies for me.
I tried inner strength, but eventually figured... with ironwill, I dont feel like healing is an EMERGENCY that needs to be handled right away. With bond, it helps cover any healing needs (as well as many other uses) if I dont have a medkit in my hands

I would never spend shards on cosmetics when they're way more useful for buying perks.
Either way, Feng has a bunch of nice perks. Alert really is criminally underrated.
I buy perks from the shrine when they interest me, but...
I typically lvl every killer to unlock their perks, lol. This just leaves me with the occasional survivor perk that costs me 2k shards every now and then. This is an old picture btw, notice no demogorgon.

Like I said, the game doesn't want to encourage survivors to just hide all match. If a survivor hides around the map, touching no gens, they shouldn't just accrue points for staying out the the killer's TR, because they're not really playing or participating in the game at that point.
The game doesn't encourage stealth. It gives killers a bunch of tracking and aura perks. The survivor's objective is to do gens to escape, and killers see gen auras. Killers see the exit gate auras. Everything in the game tries to make sure survivors and killers interact.
Survivors can still even get Boldness points without the killer. The only thing that absolutely requires the killer is Altruism.
I never said give survivors points for doing nothing. If I did gens, got unhooks and heals, opened the exit gates under the killers nose, ect... I should get a decent amount of points. I shouldnt have to be the Neon colored Nea that "got tunneled all game for some reason".
As far as aura perks goes, the game also gave survivors tools to COUNTER those perks.

My other favorite fourth perk is Alert, which gives you frequent, perfect information with no distance limitation and no cooldown, whenever the killer performs an extremely common action.
Ive actually been thinking of lvling up Feng. Shes got that new cosmetic outfit in the store and I have like 23k shards... Im a killer main, so I dont have many survivors lvled.
-
Spine chill- Being able to walk away from a gen, seeing a ghostface search desperately for 15-20 seconds before kicking the gen and going away...then returning to work.
Save the best for last- Having survivors try to body block and such, but you have 8 tokens of STBFL so you just hit EVERYONE

This is my build, except for Fixated -- that fourth spot rotates a lot for me.
Right now, my fourth perk is Windows of Opportunity, which is secretly way better than everyone thinks it is. It's useful for planning out paths of egress ahead of time, and for knowing which areas of the map to avoid because the pallets are already gone. Anyone who says it is a noobs-only perk is crazy.
I dont have kate lvled, but Ive been looking at that perk. I typically suck at chases, so having that to show me where each pallet and window is...would be nice. Fixated atm is kinda meh. I only really use it for the speed boost for when I'm stealthing around a killer who's checking my area, but that 20% is just sad.

@TragicSolitude said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/794571#Comment_794571
Well, for most killers, if they don't find anyone all match, they get zero points. All their points are earned through interacting with the survivors. The survivors can still walk away from a match like that with 15k. So... the survivors still have the better deal.
And thats completely acceptable. If you failed to find and down your targets, you SHOULDNT get pity points. Git good at tracking, bring whispers if ya need. The game shouldnt be holding the survivor's points hostage because they didnt throw themselves at the killer.

"I don't believe you get enough points for staying hidden from the killer. It's as if behavior wants everyone running around chasing each other the whole time.. when you would think a survivors whole purpose is to stay hidden as best as possible."
Things like BP and points towards pipping are rewarded in such a way as to encourage fun gameplay for both sides. The game's not going to reward survivors points for just staying hidden from the killer all match, because that's not how the game is supposed to be played. The game wants survivors interacting with the killer.
If the killer never sees a survivor all match, then that match wasn't fun for the killer. The game's not going to reward/encourage that.
If the killer couldnt find anymore, that's the killer's fault. The game shouldnt be hitting anyone's points or emblems because they didnt get found.

Been using Spinechill, Bond, ironwill and fixated lately. I suck at chases, expecially against Spirit, so... being able to completely avoid them is nice. They just waste so much time looking for the guy who keeps working on this gen. Kick the gen, look around the general area, go to leave and realize...the gen isnt even sparking anymore...#########, lol.

I always try for a safe unhook. Unfortunately at end game you have to be less picky. You either let them die, or try to take the hit. My altruism emblem got wrecked in a match early because of that. It's to the point that I'm going to have to level up Bill for Borrowed Time.
I play sneaky, so typically... Im in and out before the killer knows where we went. If I screw up though and unhook someone while a Myers was ACTUALLY closeby but I didnt notice him... Im not just gonna split and let him chase my injured teammate. I'll tank a hit and give the guy a chance.

They really don't make sense. Repair 3 full gens by yourself. Here's 3,700 points.
Had a game last night with an afk nurse. My teammates all found the nurse, started a chase by running in front of her and vaulted a thrown down pallet to get points.
In all seriousness though, I wish more points were given for SAFE unhooks. I dont think you should get ANY points if the guy is downed 0.5 seconds after his feet hit the ground. Get the full amount as a safe rescue, and it may encourage people to be smarter, or even take a hit if need be.

The current counter to ANY Mori. is players disconnecting in the loading screen when they see a black Offering that doesn't turn over.
Even if the offering did not appear. Players will start deciding to DC just because the killer didn't pledge a point. Bottom line is. Mori= Rage Quit.
I feel like this is a good reason to burn a Cypress. If all the survivors load in while THINKING you have an ebony... theyre probably more likely to stick out the whole game and not DC early.

Exactly.
Killers tend to get more points because their scoring categories all work together. Survivors on the other hand are competing for points in two out of the four categories. Add in the ridiculously low amount of points some things give you and naturally survivors get much less.
The survivor point gains are just funny imo.
-throws down every pallet on the map- MASSIVE POINT GAIN!!!
-insures the unhook you just did was actually SAFE-... heres 500

It fits with what the Devs said was going to happen. If Peanits says its an error then they are backpedaling on their own statement. Ranks 20-15 don't have the 6 rank rule because they want them to find a match over not finding one.
@Peanits said:
The one in the OP would likely be a SWF. Everyone else in the lobby is within 6 ranks of the killer, and if the rank 18 is playing with someone else that's a higher rank, the higher ranked player is used for matchmaking.
As for @LordGlint's screenshot, we recently identified an issue that could cause that to happen. I can say for sure if that's the same reason why this happened without checking, but we're looking into it.
This was the comment. Was in a thread titled "Can someone explain this?"

As a survivor main, I’d like to consider a counter-idea. In my opinion, most killers were strictly designed to have one skill/power, per game. With this, I mean that the killer’s ability should be the same throughout the game. There are a few new exceptions, however, with the Freddy Rework. My point is, I believe having multiple powers to simply switch throughout any instant within a match would be too confusing and too unpredictable for a killer. The game could be very unbalanced through tiny details (for instance, spamming the “heavy” tonic to deal damage). I like the idea of a more lore-friendly Clown, but I feel like if that were to happen, it would have to be strictly through add-ons. Just my take on it though :)
Having multiple powers has been a thing since Piggy, between her stealth crouch, ambush attack, and beartraps.

Are you saying a killer using add-ons and offerings isn't a choice, but it is when survivors do?
Theres definitely a difference between killer and survivor addons. As a survivor, I typically bring medkits. I can use the same medkit over and over, as long as I escape the trial. When I run out of medkits... I farm more with pharmacy, lol. As a killer on the other hand, each time I use addons I know those are going away no matter how the trial went.

Im going to guess that this Match got OUT of control because of Player frustration. The BBQ usually enrages people since I can see WHY someone being found after a Hook. Wouldn't be too happy. I kinda Wish there was perhaps NO chat lobby anymore.
I mean that pretty much IS what happens in competitive chat lobbies. Players don't care about BANS. They will buy a new copy of the game and continue on being toxic.
-Advice for BHVR. -
I owned SRCDS servers on an IBM blade system 2007-2014 and OMG, it was ALWAYS like that. Cheese'd off gamers (not saying server name due to licensing) But I can say that the PROPER method of mitigating toxicity was to MUTE BAN the player vs account ban, so they STILL kept the same copy of the GAME . and just let them play the game. and it KEPT them from talking on my servers. Most players weren't going to fork out money just to drop in again and trash-talk. But if they were account banned. THey were RIGHT back at it.
They still would come to my server. View my ads. generate revenue and of course if they wanted to STILL play on the server (WHICH THEY DID) I made MONEY. Id rather have a FULL server of Muted players, making me ad revenue.
Now if they were cheating on the other hand.. Yeah.. Total ban. 30-60 days. VS permaban. I learned in Psychology the human mind on Risk V reward and how bad behavior works. If I do JUST enough to mitigate the problem. It dials back the issue. Vs if I did total bans. Someone would be more enticed to come BACK and cause MORE issues.
BBQ is actually not really a problem. The huntress had a rough match and only made any real comeback at the very end. This person was just being rude. I feel like the killer couldve picked ANY killer/perks, and they wouldve still said garbage like this.

note that these ppl generally never say GG when they lose, rather ironic eh.

How do you come to the conclusion that popular killer=no skill required?
-
Just saying... if you kept getting your teammates killed by doing unsafe unhooks, is it a wonder you got more points than they did? Its obviously gonna stunt THEIR point gain. Thats like a runner claiming tripping their opponents makes them faster.
-
I keep getting the tier regression bug with Myers, where you hit T3, just to go back to tier 2 and 99% again. Really sucks if ya dont notice it before ya swing.
-
I can actually understand the killer's irritation for the 2nd match. I remember being in a similar situation with hooks where a survivor kept running to the corner of the map and staying put. I kept downing them and trying for the closest hook, but theyd struggle off and run back to the corner... Eventually, I just had to watch them bleed out...fun. I still got all his teammates, with this being the last survivor, but his determination to waste both our times just soured the game for me. Your seeing it as he's pissy he didnt get 3 more kills, but it COULDVE just been hes upset that he literally CANT hook the guy he won the chase against. Outplayed I guess.
