I've been trying to not use ruin as often because some games it is unreliable and annoying. But out of my mains (plague, spirit, hag, pig) I could only achieve that on plague and spirit. Spirit cuz, she's just spirit but with plague I use than and dying along with monitor and infectious fright and that adds a lot of lethality. I wanna try with hag next but I'd rather not due to her being a 110% movement killer and pig will prob never try.
Pig actually has decent slowdown built in with her beartraps.

Not really since prestiging is free and it doesn’t take that long to acquire 1 million blood points, especially during blood hunts.

Nothing, it’s their decision. I’m just saying the psychological high of getting exclusive items to show off LONG before the rift even ends comes with people KNOWING you spent a lot of extra money.
Maybe their buying it because they think it looks neat, and not to show off to you. Also...its 10 bucks. if your buying a rift lvl for 100 auric cells, and getting the 100 cells right back... Makes it just cost 10 bucks for the whole thing. Considering ppl already buy outfits for that much, and this person is instead choosing to spend 10 bucks on SEVERAL outfits, im not seeing the difference.

The guy is a Huntress main

Yeah I figured, I am still kinda stuck to OG Freddy's way of thinking. I always think to myself I need Monitor and Abuse.
I'll go switch it out with something else next game. Once again, thank you for the advice.
Np, Freddy is great once you learn how to properly use him. I feel like hes incredibly versatile to any situation.

I love it, it makes it a fun mindgame. I may be a minority here but I prefer NOT getting all my information for free and having to figure things out.
Watching your opponents movements in order to react to it isnt "free information". Its being observant and not running blindly.

Huh, almost similar to mine. Except I use MonitornAbuse. Might change it out to Surge when I level Demo then.
Monitor does nothing for you against sleeping survivors. I use to use it on OG Freddy, but switched it off with the rework.

I've been trying and learning. Though I am pretty reliant on the rope addons to slow down gens. I still haven't found a good way to get rid of the OoO user.
Can always do 1 rope addon and a block addon. The rope addons arnt really worth stacking together. The way I use the snares, they typically get alot of value, even if someone knows exactly where I place them. Still sucks being spotted at many locations like the school. Often times when a survivor runs downstairs, I like to listen to their grunting and fall ontop of them using the hole in the floor. Cant do that when they can see you... Normal jungle gyms and pallet loops though... the snares are still gonna net me the hit.

Except Freddy. OoO absolutely kills Freddy.
Snares help alot, as well as Freddy's block addons that cause blindness. I main Freddy, so I grew pretty use to handling this.

there's no problem with running OoO in solo queues. and using it based on it's intended purpose (chase the OoO user)
but when it gets used by a swf squad. it becomes pretty overpowered. considering if you chased someone else who isn't the OoO user. the OoO user will be giving the survivor you're chasing a lot of information that will make it harder for the killer to win the chase (the killer is just standing there. don't move, he double backed, he's vaulting the window, etc.)
Always funny when someone brings OoO and you blind them, lol. They can try to call out my position all they want from up on the hook.
-
How does OoO kill mindgames at loops? The perk doesnt work within a killer's TR.

No joke, I got into a game right after i finished posting and then a Huntress disconnects when the map's Haddonfield.
That map is ROUGH for Huntress... One reason why I like Freddy so much is because I feel like he doesnt really have a map hes BAD at, just maps where his powers might not be as useful.

This anti-heal build, which Tru3 is spreading about, is getting out of hand and is a poor impression for any new Ghost Face players. Sure, the build is handy for a versatile stealth killer like him, but thinking that his stalk mechanic is useless is laughable. You may as well play as dead rabbit Myers if you're using this build. As Ghost Face, marking survivors at the right given opportunity, applies more pressure than going about loudly with nurses calling and sloppy butcher, really boring gameplay that plenty of killers use, but Ghost Face is an exception because he can have no terror radius. Stalking can lead to map pressure if you use it correctly, unlike Tru3, who proceeds to call it bad while displaying poor usage of the ability, hence the build he calls "optimal". From what I've seen from Ghost Face mains, no one really tries when they stalk survivors, and that's pretty disappointing (PS4). Ghost Face carries the potential to add pressure by gaining fast downs and hooks, but the ever growing conditioning of playing a simple m1 killer with no terror radius instead brings people away from that potential. Play how you want, but I really don't want to see players using this great killer as if he's another killer, and not his own.
I actually like playing with dead rabbit on Myers...

It's the same as killers dcing just because they don't like the map. It happens but you just gotta get over it and thinking of the survivors perspective makes it a lot easier to move on.
Im equally against that. Ive taken plenty of strode keys. The whole idea of seeing the character so assuming you hate the perks though would be like me facecamping a laurie because I hate DS so she has to pay for picking the wrong character...

I think they were mostly upset with the swing chains. Which makes the progress bar slooooooowwwwww
Not nearly as slow as people give it credit for. It goes up to a 12% slow, which tacks on about an extra 9 seconds on gens if EVERYONE is asleep.
-
@Auron471 said:
Let us assume for a moment that combining dying and thanos has the same slowdown potential as surge and pop.
Which one would survivors be more upset about? I think it would be dying light and thanos. Why?
its because these perks slow down effects are constantly being rubbed into the faces of survivors and survivors can directly see the slowdown they are getting.
Whereas with surge and pop, sure they will see that not many gens are getting done, but the progress bar of generators will still be going by at the same speed so it wont feel as bad.
I think BHVR should keep this in mind when making slowdown perks in the future. Make it so that survivors feel the slowdown, but dont constantly have to see an extremely slow progress bar.
Judging by this...lol

Like I mentioned earlier, since you're a Freddy, they already have an idea on what kind of build they're about to go up against. It's kind of like if most Huntresses were using the instadown+belt addon and survivors just dc once they hear the lullaby because they've had enough of it and don't want to take their chances. If they get pissed off at you for using it then just let it go. At the end of the day, people don't want to play a game that they know isn't going to be fun for them including you. Plus, they couldn't tell if you were a Freddy in the lobby but if they did, then they definitely would've left and went to go find another match.
Thats a problem though. This idea that your just gonna DC against any killer you dont wanna face is kinda BS.

I said the perks your using are common except Surge. As for STBFL, that's used a lot in any m1 killer.
Keep in mind, I'm not trying to persuade you to use a weaker build because I don't want killers to be too strong and make it more fun. You asked me what build you should use to make it fair so I gave my two cents. Just know that if you keep using that build then expect people to ragequit from time to time and try not to fire back at them because it doesn't help.
When an entire team quits out before even SEEING me, its not because my Pop is too strong. I have no problem "firing back" at people who DC 15 seconds into the game, and then bash me in the endgame chat.

Your build is pretty typical of an avg Freddy player except for Surge but it's arguably better than Ruin. I'm just trying to say that you don't need the best perks and addons to do good and have fun, especially on one of the best killers in the game. Just seeing the same op builds over and over again is inevitably going to make people toxic. Since you are a Freddy main and I'm not, it's better if you figured out what works best for you. If you prefer using that build the most then I can't change that since it's your opinion and you know more than me about Freddy.
I'm actually pretty surprised to hear that other ppl are using surge and STBFL, let alone that they're considered meta or something. Pop and BBQ just seemed pretty obvious. BBQ gives me an idea on which gen to USE the teleport on so I'm not just randomly using it. Pop makes sense if I'm teleporting to a gen that's been worked on and hasn't been affected by surge. Surge affects gens near where I downed the person, while BBQ shows me a target far away...
Point being... I try to think of synergy when thinking of perks for each killer. My builds are different on my Myers than on my Freddy, my Huntress, my clown ect. Their powers work good with different perks. It's like how I wouldnt tell you to run no mither and fixated together, in an attempt to avoid strong builds and make the game more fun for the killer.
I also forgot to add... I can't use any perks that have anything to do with TR for obvious reasons. Monitor, distressing, unnerving, infectious fright, ect... Doesn't work when Freddy has no TR to sleeping survivors.
-
@Derp said:

I think using just 1 slowdown perk like sloppy, thana, or ruin is fine on freddy since survivors can play around it and isn't too strong. Just replacing pop with something like devour or blood warden would make it a lot more fair. Of course, this wouldn't be the best build for him but that's the point, otherwise people are gonna ragequit.
Im trying to avoid totem perks for the sake that they get cleansed very quickly. Pop is a reliable perk, which is why i picked it over ruin. Bloodwarden is pretty much useless anymore since most ppl 99% the gates until its time to go. If I down someone and open a gate myself... Thats just announcing that BW is gonna hit, Point being though... my build is coherent to the character as well as well rounded. Unlike other Freddys, you dont see 4 slowdown perks on my build, lol. I say coherent in that it makes sense. Theres a reason you dont see nurses using brutal strength and bamboozle for example, lol.

I honestly don't know since I never played reworked Freddy but I think just replacing weasel with something else would be great since you already have pressure with dream projection and addons to slow the game down so weasel is really just overkill in my opinion.
Thats kinda the predicament. I already use STBFL for better chase potential, and since I actually like to play pallets instead of swing through em and break em all... brutal strength, fire up, enduring andn spirit fury arnt for me. Typically killer perks come down to Chase perks, slow-down, tracking and "other" (perks like mad grit that dont really fall anywhere else). Since my goal isnt to break every pallet, that leaves me with just a handful of chase perks, which I use STBFL for that. BBQ handles my tracking for the most part, letting me have back to back chases most of the time. I'm left with 2 slots, and i unless bodyblocking becomes a thing again, im not gonna need agitation or anything like that. I'd be running either slowdown perks, like sloppy, thanaphobia, pop, surge, ruin, ect...or instadown perks like devour, haunted ground, make your choice, ect.

Im just imagining some seriously boosted killers who pipped like crazy cuz they brought a shroud offering, and 4 survivors assumed it was an ebony.

Killer A is the better killer.
Everyone can proxycamp for easy kills. Its what every noob do, what your instincts are, when you know nothing about the game. Applying map pressure and patrolling gens while still 4k'ing takes experience and bravery to leave the hook.
Just because he said fewer hooks, doesnt mean he ment camping. Heres a screenshot I took where I 4ked and ended a game in roughly 2 minutes as OG Freddy. As you can see from the Chaser points, I didnt camp (it wouldve shown up in red text if I was too close to the hook). I had a real nice snowball right away, and ended the game with a total of 5 hooks (no mori).

That's the reason why they dced. Survivors know right off the bat what kind of build Freddies use because it's always the same and it also shows what kind of add ons he's using when survivors are asleep so they don't have to play for long to figure it out.
At least DS and flashlights you can play around it pretty easily but you can't play around Weasel or Surge and that's whats frustrating about it. That feeling you get when you repair a gen at 95% only to go back down to 70 then 45 and so on is the worst and it happens a lot against him.
So what perks SHOULD I be running then...

I dont see Crossplay coming anytime soon. It would be highly unfair, not only would players on Controller deal with players who are using Keyboard and mouse (dont know how much of a difference it is, I rarely play on console, so I suck at Controller), but also the Performance on Console is way worse, a Console player would have such a big disadvantage.
I imagine it would be similar to what someone on a normal PS4 feels when going against a PS4 pro. As far as the controller thing...plenty of ppl on PC play with controller, and hopefully keyboard/mouse support will be on consoles soon. It isn't modest when it all adds up. Also, having a killer use weasel when you're almost done with a gen is almost like getting dsed or getting flashlight saved as killer. You add Surge and couple that with snares, projection, add ons and it isn't fun to play against.
Pop is pretty much the only reason to even kick a gen anymore. Typically its not worth the time to kick a gen without it since survivors will often time tap it right after. Your gonna find it on most Freddys since Freddy teleports to gens and it naturally synergizes with him. Hook a survivor, see which gens are being worked on with BBQ/thrilling tremors, teleport to it, kick it and chase whoever was on it.
As far as DS and flashlights... I face those all the time. I still dont DC as soon as I see obsession claws pop up or something, lol.
-
@Derp said:

They're complaining about your build in both screenshots so they definitely knew who you were. Also, weasel+surge with chains and paint brush isn't modest at all. That build is specifically used to slow the game down.
They DCed within 15 seconds, cant figure out a perk loadout THAT fast without seeing a killer, lol.
Once again...its modest when you look at actual values. Surge is 6.5 seconds and Pop is 20 seconds after each hook. Most people are going to run some sort of slowdown perks, I just try to do it without ruin. As far as the addons goes...They havent released any that actually benefits his snares really...

To be fair, you were using Swing Chains and Red Paint Brush. People are going to DC from that because it’s “not fun” and “boring to face”. Which I agree with, but I still won’t DC from it.
A majority of the Freddy players I face run those two “fun” add-ons.
Half of Freddys addons feels like they fall under the catagory of slowdown, either by slowing action speeds or boosting regression values from failed skillchecks. I do think its funny though how people assume the worst of these 2 addons. Without crunching numbers, youd assume they were crazy strong. it reality... The difference in gen repair from no swing chains and everyone being asleep WITH swingchains, making it at its strongest... Goes from 80 seconds to just under 90.

Most people hate playing against Spirit but I'd argue that Freddy is way worse. He slows down the game way too much from progression to movement speed and it just gets on your nerves after a while. I hate people that dc but I understand why they did it in your games as him.
The screenshots i took were DCes from people who hadnt even seen me yet. For all they knew, i went in perkless. I know people hate going against "forever freddy" each game with 4 slowdown perks, but as you can see from my screenshot...that wasnt the case. I think my slowdown is rather modest really.

It makes no sense DCing after you get stomped, at that point you can just suicide on hook. No, these people are DCing at the beginning of match, after they get first downed or even earlier.
You say that, but Ive seen plenty of killers DC after the last gen pops. On the other end, Ive had plenty of survivors DC while Im carrying them to the hook. Had a game 2 weeks ago as Bubba where the entire survivor team spawned together... Downed em all within a 2 minute window, just for them to DC 1 at a time as I went to hook each.
-

It goes both ways. It's also possible they just haven't played in a long time. I rarely play survivor so while I have reached rank 1 previously, it's currently sitting at like rank 15 or something.
The games I do play it feels filthy to be running infinites, flashlighting at every pallet, and rocking a full build against killers with 1 perk who barely know what their power does.
That's rank reset for you.
Read this and just picturing a Bubba who's having a hard time figuring out the purpose of a chainsaw.

hes a brand new survivor, like 2 hours in the game watching killers who are clearly smurfing/deranking (full builds, noed, mori,) instantly tunneling him off hook and face camping nodding over and over is pathetic.
this needs to stop. if every new player that tries dbd experiences things like this they arent going to want to ever play again. they are killing the growth of this game.
In all fairness, many people use BP that they get from survivor to lvl their killers before playing them, and vice versa. The plauge in the screenshot above...was bad. Having 4 perks just means they hit at least lvl 15, and NOED has a really high chance of popping up since it's not a teachable perk.
Beyond that... apparently matchmaking really sucks for ppl ranks 16-20.

A red rank Spirit main.
Because you end up removing alot of matches where people DC because they got stomped. Run a killer for 5 gens and 5 ft away from a 4 man escape? Would sure be a shame if the killer DCes right now and nullifies it... Same goes the other way around.

You should look into agitation + iron grasp because getting people out of the basement against a hag is an absolute nightmare; and if the basement is not nearby you can bring people to much more defensible hooks instead of whatever is next to you.
The point of the post isnt to see how he can get better, but rather that matchmaking completely fails new players.
