Sure — here's a shorter, sharper version of your summary, with the user intent (info on QoL updates) kept clear and precise:
Dead by Daylight: QoL Initiative 2025 – Updated Roadmap Summary
What’s Happening
- Behaviour Interactive is delaying content drops to focus on major Quality of Life (QoL) improvements across 2025.
- Roadmap split into two phases targeting gameplay, balance, and user experience.
Phase 1 (Apr–Jun 2025) – Live/Coming Soon
- Surrender option: available under specific conditions for both survivors and killers.
- Gamma slider, spawn rework, better AFK/bot detection.
- "Go-Next" penalties, map offering balance, anti-hiding/body-blocking fixes.
- UI upgrades: bulk BP spending, perk presets, quest system.
Phase 2 (Jul–Dec 2025) – In Progress
- Anti-slugging, anti-tunneling, anti-camping mechanics.
- Map & item rebalancing, matchmaking tweaks, K&M on consoles, custom game tools.
- Accessibility upgrades, better prestige rewards, smoother login.
Focus is shifting from new content to game health and fairness—addressing long-standing player frustrations on both sides (killer & survivor).
Oh look. All these changes are either meaningless, or cater to survivors.
Last I tried it, the game is currently completely un-fun experience for killers. I see nothing that would create an iota of balance here.
You want to get rid of slugging? Perhaps make it so its actually possible to pick up survivors without being blinded 100% of the time. You want to get rid of tunneling? Perhaps make maps of such size that going after other survivors serves an actual purpose. You want to get rid of camping? Perhaps slow down generator progression so that camping isn't the only way to have a chance of a single kill.
All these are problems that BHVR created themselves by having a ######### game. Improve the goddamn base mechanics of the game, not just tweak numbers. -
Playing killer has been extremely un-fun for ages now. I dont believe BHVR has the ability to change this, since the game has been miserable for years. Currently DBD is uninstalled and hidden in my steam inventory. Good luck BHVR trying to change that.
-
We should be able to order the list according to a stat, to compare the characters and have any kind of useful information out of the whole thing.
-
I repeat what I have said earlier: certain killers must slug in big maps to have any kind of chance, because the maps are too large to patrol without travel powers. Devs need to balance the maps or give every killer a travel power or fix the issue some other way.
-
What the heck! You censored Vecna's mori at some point! It no longer shows off the survivor's skeleton having its flesh ripped off before it collapses to the ground. I understand that it was pretty gory, but this is supposed to be a horror game. Now the camera is off angle and just shows mostly empty air.
What gives?! I hope this is a bug of some sort… Vecna sucks so bad already he definitely didn't need this as well. -
The stats are largely useless, since it mainly shows the killer I use the most, which I already know about. It should show ALL killers, because then I would have a point of reference to compare them.

Ghostie could have an ability called something like 'Two Places at Once', where he would be able to project an image of himself crouching around a corner to make survivors think he's there. Then, under certain conditions, he might be able to gain increased speed to get to another location on the map just a little faster. Lore-wise, that might be a bit like the way he instills fear in people who are even in the same town where he's active, and they're never quite sure where he'll turn up next :D
Indeed. After all, originally there were more of him than just one. That was part of his idea. There could be some map element or item that would allow him to teleport between. Like a wardrobe or something.
-
To address tunneling they must address killers without travel power who are forced to tunnel because they cant patrol the whole map effectively. Many maps are simply too large.
-

Agree but there still needs to be a real solution to slugging for the 4k
I have one: remove the hatch. Then there would be no need to slug.
-
I am torn. 20% increased chance feels like nothing. They might as well remove the offerings entirely.
But I think it would be cool if a killer had by default an elevated chance of getting their "own" personal map. -

Well I thought 56% is lower than average haha.
Statistically, its always correct to assume you are average.
I think your killrate is pretty much exactly where the devs balance the game at: around 50%.
So there is nothing wrong. -
Im a killer main, but I dont like this system. The reason is that I DON'T want the game to be all chasing. I would prefer a slower paced game where the survivors had to hide from me. I dont like them to be all running everywhere like ping pong balls in a pinball machine while yakety sax is playing. Thats the opposite of the kind of game I want. Please bring the horror and suspense back.
Id prefer if Behaviour did not implement this. -
I am usually of the opinion that killers are always disadvantaged; but I have to say that Legion seems to be too strong for 2v8. Ability to see survivors with killer instinct and fast chase speed makes the map essentially even smaller for survivors that it already is in 2v8. I would remove Legion from the game mode..

That won't work, because survivors could just hide somewhere else, and run through the open exit gate near the end of the EGC.
That depends on the distance to the gate and whether they are healthy or not. I just want the ability to give up as a killer. The particulars aren't that important.
Devs can even take away all my bloodpoints, I dont care about them. I just don't want to suffer the prolonged humilation. Its the main reason this game is so unfun as killer. -
Why can't the devs at the very least add it to the list of known issues?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/categories/known-issues -
Reiko's watch doesnt do anything at all.
-
While making the matches faster is always miserable for killers, I agree that the only way the mode can be improved is by making changes and checking how they feel.
I dont think the original was killer-sided, having played both sides. I couldnt see anything as killer in two out of three original maps, I had to operate nearly entirely by sound. I absolutely loved the feel of lights out in Levy's though. There is a huge difference between regular terrain map, and a map where the surfaces are lightly colored, like the hospital in Levy's memorial. The latter created a really cool surreal feeling and I loved it, even though the game really didnt allow me to play there more than once.
I hope they have done a lot of adjusting about the game mode, because its my favorite special mode when it works. And don't balance it based on assumption that people adjust their brightness to play. Because I dont. -
I like the visuals..
-
No, you were catching up to him for sure. Killers usually run at 115% of survivor speed. The attack missed because of what looked to me you did a regular slash instead of a lunge. Looked to me he was in range of the attack.
Note that some survivors have a perk that allows them to do a short sprint burst. If they time it with your attack, they can evade it. This didn't look like that though.
Overall, I recommend more playing and more testing.
ps. I wouldnt mind buffing killers, I play killer almost exclusively, but I dont think thats what needed here..
pps. Also since you mentioned Nurse, I have to mention that Nurse is a special case. The only killer who cant catch up with survivors by running. She must use her own blink ability to get hits. This is by design (as blink makes Nurse one of, if not the, strongest killers in the game. She needs to balance it somehow) -
you didnt lunge though. There is a visible "zoom" effect when you lunge.

Glad you asked. This is what prompted me to post here. I see my friends not wanting to play dbd, because for console players it seems impossible. I can show more it's just been a while because a lot of us stopped playing over this issue.
Hold the attack button to lunge.

I play on ps5 and I'm extremely slow. I often get outrun by PC survivors. PC killers are impossible to outrun even in straight lines. Then, when i try to hug corners like the PC players I follow. I just get stuck? Is bhvr addressing this? It's impossible for me to play with the hunters, nurse, pig, etc.
Dude. There is only one killer in the entire game that runs slower than survivors, The nurse. Everyone else will always catch up with you if you run in a straight line. This is by obvious design as killers job is to catch survivors.
-
OT: The phasing is pretty lame and more of a curiosity… I think spirit should be invisible for longer periods. Survivors already get audio cues.
@Ohyakno said:
Dunno but I'm fine with it. It always annoyed me that she gets better phasing than sadako, just because
Have the devs fixed Sadakos common phasing frequency add-on yet? Apparently it does the opposite from what its supposed to do (instead of increasing the frequency of phasing, it makes her visible more often. So its worse than not having it).
I saw a video about it but now I cant find it…Overall I really really really love stealth, and don't like how they made it much harder to do jump-scares with Sadako. She isn't necessarily more or less potent killer with the changes, but perhaps less fun. I want back the ability to stand right next to the repairing survivor until they notice me and panic… :D For this reason I hate the chase changes(that chase triggers even when de-manifested).
ps. I always find it totally silly how people can talk about how "easy" Spirit is to play when survivors are bloody invisible during phase… It tells me of a disconnect with reality. -

Yeah. Because actually dodging the skeletons is out of question. It's not like you can position yourself between them to avoid a hit. That's definitely not how any of this works. /s
Feels like we are not playing the same game. The skeletons have tiny hitboxes. They miss like 80% of the time.
-
Yeah, I would also like to point out that the map is otherwise great, but the lighting is just a little too dark…
Personally I dont wanna fiddle with my brightness settings, so Id prefer if it was good to begin with..I like things darker but in the new map, its too dark to see details mostly.. For example, can you make out the lockers in the bottom picture?

If you had the choice of generators taking 120 seconds to complete but you had to give up all perks that could effect generator progress, would you take it?
The purpose of the question is simple. You see complaints about gen speed all the time on the forums with players feeling that they are required to bring gen slow down perks. But if the gens took considerably longer to complete then you wouldn't need the gen slow down perks and could run fun perks instead. This is purely hypothetical. I'm not even suggesting that it is a good idea. I just want to know if players would be willing to give up something they are used to to get the opportunity to play a wider variety of perks.
Probably yes. Although it feels unfair for survivors to keep THEIR perks in such a scenario. For over a year Ive already been of the opinion that the game is unplayable without Hex:Ruin. The reason is simply the repair speed.
This game overall would be much more fun when neither side has their perks. Thats when Killer is actually balanced. The more perks come into play the more the scale shifts toward the survivors. -
Absolutely the ######### not.
I much rather look at the cool animations unique to each killer than the same animation for every single character. -

Adrenaline got nerfed even though Terminus counters it
Whats your point?

Tunneling has not changed. People have just stopped complaining because it would make them look silly because Scott Jund made a video, he was right, and suddenly the community's consensus shifted (this is a pattern, one DBD content creator says something then half of the community shifts their opinion to agree because if they dont they will look silly)
It was never a massive issue people just needed something to blame because they were bad and blaming other players is always an easy thing to do.
Because of the way everyone is now getting concerned with how bad it is to solo que survivor I'm predicting a lot more players are going to start blaming their random teammates when they lose because calling the killer a tunneler is going out of fashion.
Watch this space
Nothing is sillier than people not capable of forming their own opinions.

The Unreal 5 update seems to have made the game worse both visually and performance-wise.
Seems like Behaviour has plenty of optimization to do. I can run game sort of ok after switching Vsync off, but with it the the game is very choppy even though the FPS was decently high (45+). Weird.
Without Vsync the game is visually worse than before due to screen tearing.
Seems like the problems are quite common.
-
- New killer gets released
- People dont know how to play against it
- People complain
- Time passes
- People learn to play against the killer
- There is less complaining
-
As a killer I hate this map with a passion. It has way too much junk for survivors to use against the killer.
-
I thought there were some limits to how close pallets can be to one another? Doesnt seem to bother this map...
Ive only played this a little, and it felt sort of okay. Not the worst in terms of balance.. I like the visuals, the movie theater, the arcade etc.. But the outside has a bit too much junk and pallets.
EDIT: I just had another game there, and there are WAY too many pallets within a relatively small area. Something like 10 in the park area in front of the movie theater? Most are just few meters away from each other. Atrocious. I would like to change my vote from neutral to survivor-sided.

@Rulebreaker said:
When the killer is actually acting like a movie monster killer. A scratch mirror Meyers is a lot more scary than the blight with four slowdowns tunneling some poor soul.
I would love to act like a movie monster killer, but if I try to do that, the gens are done in like 2 minutes. There is just no chance. Its constant rush or fail.
I have most fun when I can jumpscare survivors, but the devs do their utmost to make that an impossibility. Like Sadakos recent change where she initiates a chase while demanifested; thumbsdown. Im against all automatic noise warnings that a killer is near. I loved it when I could manifest behind someone and pull them off a gen.. now its not possible.
-
The new killer kinda looks like the doctor. Maybe Im jaded.
-
Ive been casually playing Sadako in the past as my main killer, and at first the changes looked like all buffs. (Ive never really bothered with specifically building condemned, if it happens it happens)
But apparently she now initiates chases while demanifested, which made me go #########? Whats the point of demanifesting then if the survivors are going to get chase music warning that she is near? PReviously I loved to surprise survivors with it, now its like stealth that isn't a stealth? This feels like it completely undermines the whole character?
I guess this is in line with devs always destroying whatever killer I used to love playing. First nurse, then spirit, now onryo..
-
Returning player: Im confused. These Sadako changes seem ... all good? What have I missed? I thought they were going to nerf her to oblivion xD

Hello everyone,
Just some food for thoughts. Maybe this is the Scott Jund effect, but these past couple of games a lot of survivors ads giving up on purpose against even the slightest of controversial killers, ie I had this effect with Knight, Skull Merchant and, of course, Chunky.
People also seem to feel the impact the MFT stranglehold being broken and trash loops being trash again and not making it to the next loop in a cheeky matter.
As a result, after that MMR hiccup we had recently, I know have way more stompy games, with sometimes two survivors dead at 3 gens.
This lead to me to actually play less sweaty, much more relaxed and freely giving hatch or letting the last two survivors go and finish the last gens in peace, when I couldn't decide whom of them to kill off.
I don't know what the conclusion of this is, I am just stating my observations and wanna check in with others and if they noticed similar effects. It feels a bit like post 6.1 with suddenly everyone playing bad, dying left and right and everything reassembling.
I haven't been following the forums for ages... What "MMR hiccup" do you mean? What happened?
I noticed today and last night that I was going against way more beginning(lower level) players than usual, which I find very strange. But I also don't play that much to begin with. Are all experienced survivors taking a hiatus because of Chucky?
-
So far in the past whenever I've liked a killer, enjoyed its gameplay, Behaviour has completely destroyed any fun in it with changes. So far this has happened with the nurse and spirit. I fear the same is in store for Sadako, my current favorite killer. U_U
Behaviour is just absolutely terrible in making their game fun to play. I feel they only succeed by accident, or when the problems are rubbed in their faces.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/201610865?t=1h36m17s
I agree with others that its stupid to nerf a killer just because survivors don't care/learn/understand the ingame counterplay to it. Or killers OWN MECHANICS. I would personally punish the survivors even harder if they don't want to learn the gameplay. Make them. Pandering idiots is a surefire way to create an unbalanced game.
-
Make it so that when demanifested she can go through pallets..
-
Sadako is most fun thing to happen to DBD since the original Spirit. She brought me back to the game after basically 2 years hiatus and Ive been having great fun these last couple evenings since I finally caved in and bought her (I was really reluctant to waste any real money on this game).
I honestly fear she will be nerfed, because thats what devs do. Nerf killers all the time. No balance, just catering to survivors. Hopefully Ill get maybe half a year of fun out of it before it happens.
ps. Im not gonna be giving any hints on how I do things since it will just speed up the process.
pps. Devs, Sadako profile picture when?
-
Probably a good thing, this. During the previous 6 years, I bothered to prestige one character.
Kinda symptomatic of how totally clueless the devs are that they thought of this only now.
-
Disclaimer: For basically couple years Ive hated this game for nerfing the killers I loved to play the most into oblivion (nurse, spirit, I played both before the world realized they were good).
I hated the game so much, not only I uninstalled but also hid DBD from my steam inventory so I didnt have to see the name.
Yet Sadako brought me back.
Sadako was always the killer I wanted to play the most (thus I played ethereal scary girl killers like nurse and spirit) and gave the suggestions to include her long before Behaviour even had their own forums. I didnt want to give any real money to this game due to how much I hated it the recent years, but eventually I caved in. Ive been loving Sadako since I got past the no-perks stage. I love mindgaming survivors, which is why I hate the rest of the game so much. Mindgames are always nerfed in favor of some linear loop-running.
I dont think she is weak (unless in ass maps), and Ive so far been pretty consistently getting 3-4 kills per game (unless in ass maps). Its like old days! I love it.
In fact I am pretty convinced the world will eventually realize her strength (just like what happened with nurse and spirit) and BHV will nerf her.. but at least Im enjoying the game while it lasts.
One thing I agree with though: Her condemnation is ass. Its nothing more than a curiosity. I get a kill with it only once every blue moon.
Proposed buff: Make it so that TVs will always spread condemnation slowly when they are on. That way the survivors might actually have to interact with the TVs to get rid of condemnation instead of completely ignoring it. Tying condemnation to Sadako teleport is too little.
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
I did not see any complain about this map. Both sides are happy?
What do you think about Garden of Joy? Balanced or not? Looks good or not?
I dont like it, since its slightly too large and traditionally too full of obstacles. Inside the house some places are so dark I cant even see the survivors next to me. But I haven't played it much yet.
Its not close to worst maps in the game though. Kinda like below average.
-
Skill should never be a balancing mechanic. That doesn't mean games shouldnt have high skill requiring characters that feel rewarding; just that skill requirement should be never used as an argument for balance.
ps. In my opinion nurse is useless and should receive a buff. I fear a rework would take away her uniqueness and thus I dont want that to happen. Especially since I have no faith in Behaviour anymore. Its only going to get worse.
-
Yes. More ways to interact with environment is good and cool. There should be more flavorful things to do in general.
ps. Obviously we don't want the opened ways to break the game.
-
Teabagging is the only thing there is no defense against. It is also entirely survivor sided. Killers cant do any teabags, taunts, animations or such. I wish the devs would grow up and see how unfair this is for the killers. How much ######### we take every day with no way of fighting back.
-
As a killer I would probably be triggered less if they removed teabagging from the game.
Bodyblocking, swarming, all that jazz can at least be interpreted to "just playing the game". Teabagging cant.
As a killer I would also like an option of just leaving the game once the gates are open. The collapse tried to resolve the issue of survivors holding the game hostage but I would personally just want to leave faster.
-
Sadako is superfun. She actually got me back to playing the game after essentially 2 year hiatus, and when I hated the game enough to hide it from my steam game directory. The game is still #########, but at least Im temporarily having fun.
I played the snot out of Nurse when she first came out and everyone thought she was garbage. I did the same when Spirit came out. Now Sadako... Im sure that same pattern will repeat unfortunately and the devs will eventually nerf Sadako to unplayable status. At first these complex killers will be thought terrible, their full potential will be discovered, then devs will nerf them due to toxic entitled survivors. Always the same thing.
OT: I do agree with the topic. This was one of the worst times in DBD history. Much of it has to do with the way devs treat the game.
ps. I mean, sometimes the devs hit some gold nuggets. This sort of things shows they still have cool ideas.
