@not_Queen @Patricia_BHVR , Let's hear it from Behavior. Can either of you defend why Jendenise is in the Fog Whisperers Pilot Program to represent the game and community via Twitch, when she is right here in this thread openly admitting that she deranks and abuses the ranking system on her streams?
Would Behavior care to comment on why someone like that was chosen as a Twitch representative? This is no longer a matter of forum or community members claiming she is doing it. Jendenise, herself, has now posted in this thread openly admitting to it and attempting to defend doing it.

@Elegant said: Yea Deathgarden is a dead on arrival game. Idk how they thought it would work. They took out any meaningful progression as well as the main element that makes DBD popular. Horror. People play this game for the horror aspect of the game. If this game wasn't horror it would have died long ago because of it's imbalances. Deathgarden has awful graphics, boring/repetitive gameplay, and no sense of progression. There's no real reason to play it for DBD fans and it isn't appealing at all to non-DBD fans. It has no market. They might as well save themselves some more money and drop the game now and cut their losses. And I can say first hand that people do not spend money on a game that they feel is unbalanced and not fun. If the casual player is getting upset/frustrated/etc relatively soon after playing, they aren't going to spend money on anything. A game I used to play a lot (Marvel Heroes) shut down because they pissed off most of their fan base with decisions they made and everyone stopped giving them money. So Marvel took their license away. Have to make smart business decisions and companies are doing less and less of that it seems.
I'm an Overwatch player since launch day. I followed Deathgarden, but never bought it. Here's why. I looked at the Runners with their movement abilities, wall-climbing, et cetera and immediately thought: Okay, so BHVR is trying to take a few elements from Overwatch, the popular kid on the block, and make a new DBD-style game with it.
Soon as I saw the Runners move, all I could see was that they obviously watched how Genji moves.
Then I considered their already stellar reputation for balancing DBD, and never gave Deathgarden a second look. I figured Civilization would be a better alternative.

You are absolutely correct. The horror element is what sells DBD.
As far as the progression? I'm a new player, and very behind the curve. The Bloodpoint grind for Teachables on so many characters needed for decent builds, and then the RNG of the bloodweb on will they actually appear for the other characters, is asinine. I will hit Rank 15-10 before I even have Perks needed for builds to play effectively even at those green ranks, especially thanks to monthly rank resets and normally deranking Vets.
The progression system in DBD, 2+ years after launch, is not new player friendly at all. It's a new player turn-off, at least for me and my friends (we're all in our 40s). I've actually started playing more Overwatch again as a result. If I want this kind of new player grind and Vet griefing, there are Asian MMOs for that.

If you can't see that rank honestly doesn't make you a better player, then idk how anyone can help you. Recently i have found better survivors at rank 15-8 then anything below that. Current rank 1's are just M1 warriors that honor "Gens before Friends". I have a lot of hours and i have been here since beta. The old rank 1's are the new rank 10's. And you can thank long queue times and boring playstyles for that one.
Here’s another one folks! Look again lmfao I’m dead xD
Well, they do kind'a have to do it to defend themselves, since they sure as hell haven't received a lot of other support on the topic so far. I mean, Drunkie was exposed by us damned quick, so on to the next name on the burner list.

I'm a killer main with about 2.5k hrs in this game. I have seen good and ######### survivors at all ranks, same with killers. Rank is way too easy to gain, and thus is not an accurate representation of actual skill.
Jendenise is a very skilled survivor, who has probably over 6k hours at this point, and also knows that rank doesn't matter. Yes, there's some difference between rank 1 and 20, but not that much. Also calling someone "trashy" because they derank is really immature but I wouldn't expect much from dbd forums.
I recommend watching this:
At rank 20, players dont even understand how looping works. Yet you claim that rank 20 and rank 1 is the same?
I ask you one question then. If there is really no difference, why do players derank then? (talking about midseason situation, not shortly after rank reset)
I said there were differences, but rank 1 survivors can be just as ######### as rank 20s. Rank really doesn't mean anything and never has. People derank because sometimes you can't find games, or you keep running into the same players and the game because stale and boring because you never verse anyone else.
Jendenise burner account folks check out the number of vote ups and posts, this person made the account just to defend her it’s way too obvious
And guess what? They link to a video by DamnNoHtml. Now go check that name at Twitch. It states that it is an old Twitch account, and the new account is for . . . drum roll . . . ScottJund.
Another streamer that has been in here admitting that he deranks and then tried to defend it.
At this point, I'm thinking it's a burner account for ScottJund. Could be Jendenise, though. He has hosted her stream when not broadcasting.

I know that the devs don't actually want Ingame voice comms, but what is the reason for that?
In my eyes its the only way to balance the game since SWF has become a thing.I think it just falls to manpower. The BHVR team for Dead by Daylight has a limited number of people who could work on creating in-game voice chat. On top of that, who would actually use an in-game chat? Last time I checked all platforms have access to chats. Heck, the PC users can choose between Steam, Discord, Teamspeak, and Skype! This just doesn't seem like a priority for them. Besides, toxic words as text hurt enough. With an in-game chat, it would only be more painful. Depending on the execution such a chat could even be used to grief others depending on whether or not it's proximity-based.
I have to agree with you on this one. I came from Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm, both of which have in-game voice chat. In Overwatch, using voice-comms is pretty much a must to climb the ranks. It's a team-heavy game that requires team coordination, hero choice synergy, and various call-outs.
And yet, as I have observed and countless complaint posts by others have documented, far too many players do not use voice-comms with randoms, and tend to only use it when in a group with a few of their friends. And this is true even when that group is not a full six-stack team on their own, and are teamed with however many randoms to make a full team.
They stay in the private group channel.
SWFs in DBD use voice. But most of them are already friends, be it from purely online or in real life. Even if DBD made it so there was only one channel when in a match (as Paladins does), they would just continue using Discord or whatever to keep their chat private. I have learned that people tend to not want to be in voice comms with randoms they don't know.
I don't see where, overall, the investment is worth the in-game return (i.e. use) for BHVR.
I also don't see how this will help Killers. Certainly they wouldn't be able to hear Survivor voice chat. And if they could, then expect Discord to continue to be the go-to for Survivors.

Yeah, her argument is so full of holes that I don't know where to start. Every game out there with a rank system has a Meta, which in DBD is usually Billy, Nurse, and sometimes Huntress. For Survivors it's Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, and some other Perks.
Even in Overwatch, where I came from and played since launch (as she says she has for this game), above a certain rank and you were expected to play the current Meta Heroes. Pick Torb, or Sym, or Mei, or a few others, and expect to get reported by the other players on your team and eventually a temp-ban for "gameplay sabatoge," even though the Game Lead stated it wasn't bannable.
Heroes of the Storm? Again, top ranks have a Meta.
Top ranks have a Meta, in every game.
Why? Because not every Hero, Character, Killer, or even Perk is going to be viable. Some are niche. Some are just useless. That's any game with so many moving parts.
Sometimes, adjustments to those parts are made and a Meta shifts, but there will always be a top rank Meta.
Yes, Metas get boring. I will never argue that. But you don't derank. You don't ever throw games. That, itself, needs to be banned. Period. No excuses. If you get to Top Ranks, whether through skill or simply time-played like current DBD, and don't like it, then find a new game. Once enough do that, BHVR will have to finally fix the Ranking system.
I agree , but I also think sometimes if played right the weaker killers can be a viable threat depending on the style of play. Example: I’ve seen some Freddy players at rank one on PS4 that literally are a nightmare to go against because it’s suits their style well while most of the time Freddy is garbage and easy to counter.
Oh, absolutely, @lyric
For example, let me use Overwatch, where my real competitive experience lies. Torb was always considered an off-meta, or "troll pick," by the high ranked players. He's a Builder-Hero in a game that has had a ton of high-mobility creep since launch. But, Torb could be very effective in the right hands. There is a case in Overwatch of a Top500 Torb-main player getting constantly banned by the automated system because his teammates always reported him for picking Torb. Now, keep in mind, he is a Top500 player and got there by playing Torb all the time. For a correlation, the Overwatch League players all come from the Top500 spots.
There have been other examples, as well.
In the right hands, even someone like Freddy can be deadly at top ranks. Generally speaking, he won't be. But for someone who really knows him, how to conbine add-ons and Perks, how to work around the Dream World transition timer, and has true skill at the game: Yeah, he will be effective even at Rank 1.
And ironically, that particular Freddy-main, while playing him deadly at Rank 1, might not be able to play Billy, Nurse, or Huntress well at all.
But do keep in mind that in any game with a ranked or competitive mode, those high rank players are outliers. They aren't the norm. That's why Metas are so strictly adhered to. They are characters or ability combinations (like Perks and Add-Ons here), that are overly strong and known to be reliable in most hands. The Meta usually starts just around the very lower-end of the high ranks, and most continue climbing because they are using that proven-to-be-strong Meta. That's why you will see a Meta sometimes make a wide shift in some games, and some players suddenly lose matches and ranks. It's because they relied too hard on the previous Meta.
It's the main reason that I have never been a fan of the whole Meta concept, but it is what it is.

Sorry but you are #########, the only reason you are a fog streamer is cause BHVR looks strictly at numbers and have weak ass leadership within the company that allows someone like you to earn privileges despite not respecting the Company nor Community outside of the middle school fanbase you created.
Must be satisfying to earn a living by being an embodiment of whats wrong with DBD and BHVR.
I really can't agree with this more. A couple months ago, when I was researching the game again before buying it, her stream happened to be one of the first ones I went to because, well, it was top of the list due to viewer count, so I clicked it.
After lurking for an hour, I almost didn't buy the game. That, was what the community was like? Oh christ, no thanks.
But then I stumbled on a few smaller streamers (around 10k followers and 100-200 viewers), and saw something very different. That is what helped make my decision to then purchase the game.
Those are the streamers BHVR needs to support, not streamers like her and a couple she's friends with and also plays with that I've seen be toxic as hell.

Then they need to remove the option to leave while in game instead of misleading people . And according to you buying a product and playing it in your own home doesn’t make it legitimately yours, so you cant turn it off whenever you want because it’s ruining others gaming experience because of how you want to use your own product you’ve paid for? what im insinuating is they should issue refunds if this is the direction they’re going with.
If you don't want to be banned, follow the rules. It's that simple. What you're insinuating is that you think you should be allowed to ######### on everyone else's experience without any real consequence.
Then there should be consequences taken against bhvr for the glitchs and bugs while in game because im not having fun when someone is exploiting or cheating especially when someones ping goes from 75 to 400 and im teleportation you think im having fun ??
The ping issue will never be resolved unless they get dedicated servers. They will never do this no matter how needed it is or how much we beg for it. It's expensive and they don't want to spend the money on it.
Let's not also forget that Behavior just took a huge bath on Deathgarden. I'm pretty sure that dinged their financials a bit. It's going to be interesting to see what they can do in DBD over the course of the next year. Yeah, I know their Steam Charts numbers have risen a bit, but that means squat if the players aren't buying the DLCs and/or Auric Cells. Making purchases is the bottom line that matters.

Yeah, I didn't have them memorized, so I just hit the Wiki real quick to see if your Rank 9 to Rank 14 was what they said it would be. I guess it makes sense. That's 5 Ranks, and a Rank 1 drops all the way to Rank 10.

Yeah the Ranking is an absolute mess and at this point just a system asking to be abused.
Ranking up needs to be harder, rewards for playing at high ranks, punishment for smurfing and SWF should only consider the highest rank for matchmaking (Im sure the last change could be added quick if BHVR wanted to)

I derank as killer on purpose for at least a week after rank reset. If I don't, I rank up too fast and cannot play Dead by Daylight at all. Am I an #########?
In my opinion: Yes
Damn that's just unreasonable of you. You blame me instead of the terrible ranking system, so much so that you literally would prefer I don't play the game at all. What if you just randomly got banned on the 13th of every month for a week? You'd be totally cool with that, right?
Being a new player with Vets who deranked to Rank 15 before the 13th, only to then reset to Rank 17 with the reset, and come into the grey ranks with us newbies, I am unable to play the game now.
Nothing like facing Survivor SWFs at Rank 20 Killer all in Bloody Clothes, which also means Perks and Add-Ons that no newbie has yet. Which I did not encounter prior to reset. And yeah, they were all Rank 17 or 16. And I encountered crap like that more than once last night, to the point that I just walked away and fired Overwatch up for the night.
So, yeah, cry me a river, pal. I am unable to play as a newbie and not be screwed by the system you Vets love to abuse.

Yeah, I get it. It just means that I'm very likely going to have to shelve Dead by Daylight. But like I said, I'm not mad at Behavior or anything. It happens sometimes when buying a new game. For whatever reason, it just doesn't work out.
I just can't keep getting headaches trying to play a game.

Oh, I know. But yeah, like you pointed out, it means I have to waste a perk slot on it. Or level a Killer I don't really enjoy just for a Teachable, that then might or might not ever appear in someone else's bloodweb due to RNGesus.
Neither option is appealing. I wish they had a gama slider in the game, but I can understand why they don't. They designed it for a certain feel and theme. I don't blame Behavior for it. But it pretty much makes playing unenjoyable, and often times unplayable (the headaches) for folks like me. It happens. Every game purchase brings with it a certain risk factor that it isn't going to work out for the player.

It's not that they condone it, but rather that they refuse to take any action against the people providing them with free marketing. It's why Jendenise gets away with the crap that she does on a live stream, and gets into the Fog Whisperers new pilot program.
That is the image Behavior wants to put forward about Dead by Daylight, and that potential new players will first see when looking into the game on Twitch, considering she is one of their Top-List streamers for DBD. So, it is what it is.
True. Its either the marketing or BHVR fearing the shitstorm which will be unleashed by the badly parented middle school kids. They will buy her kool aid instantly.
Either way that proofs that someone at BHVR seriously lacks any leadership qualities if someone gets to disrespect the rules and even earnes privileges by the same company.
Just weak.Given how toxic the community is and previous Reviewbombs its not a good idea to take any ######### from anyone and show weakness in doing so or they will lose control.
We know leadership is seriously lacking. Remember what the Game Lead suggested on a live dev stream to players unhappy with being a Killer in DBD. Not only that they play Survivor then, but that they consider playing a different game, from a different studio, entirely.
This is the same leadership that endorses streamers like Jendenise.

The BP during the game is just showing you how much you are earning for that action in that category, which is then all tallied post-match to show you the grand total. For example, as Huntress I have maxed out the chase BP. So, during the game, it tells me the BP for that chase but also says Max. I can't earn anymore BP in that category this match. At the end, it'll tally that chase BP with the other BP categories, and show me the grand total earned for that match.
Ok thanks!!! Been playing for 2 years and just now have I thought about that!
Yeah, we talked quite a bit so you know I am new, but I spent like 8-months researching and studying DBD before joining. The only other game I studied as much was Overwatch. So, I knew how BP worked, all about looping, camping, facecamping, SWF decent and toxic comps, dribbling vs DS, and all that stuff before ever first launching the game.
Now, it's just a matter of transferring it all into mechanical play experience and muscle memory.
That's video games in general, all muscle memory and how quick you react to things. That's why I love to play them
My only main issue, though, is lighting. My eyes aren't the greatest, and even with my glasses I have a ton of trouble following scratch marks, seeing blood trails, and seeing survivors in maps that are as dark as they are in DBD. I didn't realize I would have such visual trouble until actually playing, though. It's impossible to know beforehand. Especially since most Streamers adjust the gama for their viewers and make it look brighter on the viewer-end.
I have to focus my eyes so hard, that after a couple of matches I have a physical headache.
That might force me to put the game aside, unfortunately. But that is a psychical vision issue with me, not the game.

My main issue, though, is lighting. My eyes aren't the greatest, and even with my glasses I have a ton of trouble following scratch marks, seeing blood trails, and seeing survivors in maps that are as dark as they are in DBD. I didn't realize I would have such visual trouble until actually playing, though. It;s impossible to know beforehand.

Sometimes you will see a post-match bonus also added in, which is the bonus given by any Perks or Add-Ons you had slotted. Such as BBQ stacks, a buff to BP in a certain category from an add-on, and so forth.

Don't they condone DC to derank? I know they let Fog streamers do it with no penalty. Maybe your friend got banned for other reasons.
-
@DeadByFlashlight said: Thats exactly what I wish we would have in DBD. But for that to happen, the game has to be balanced around high lvl gameplay too because in its current state it would be completely broken at the actual "rank 1 lvl"
You are right, and that is how pretty much every other game with a Competitive mode does it.
The issue is that Behavior would first have to change the system, and then give it time for people to stabilize at their proper ranks, and then go about re-balancing things. Because right now, there are many in the Red Ranks that don't belong there. And you can't balance around the Top Ranks while that exists, because the top ranks are over-saturated right now.
Meanwhile, even with the new system, things would still be abusable. Players will find a way. It's rough to fix things like this when you've let 2+ years go by like this. It's something that needs to be in place at launch, or nailed within the first or two post-launch quarters.
On top of that, it could take upwards of a year to really get it playable, and in that time they're still releasing Killers/Survivor every three months with even more Perks and Add-Ons. Unless they have a much larger team than it appears, they would have to consider postponing new chapters. And that will never happen, considering their entire model is based off steady DLC sales.
In my gaming experience, it might be too late to right this ship. It's already well into iceberg-infested waters. To be completely honest, DBD needs the Final Fantasy XIV treatment, but Behavior simply cannot afford to do that. Especially now, since I would wager that Behavior has lost a pretty-penny on Deathgarden.
I believe that at this point in the game's lifespan, as far as those systems go, we might see some tweaks here and there, but not in the form of the overhaul that it truly needs. I feel it's now a matter of accepting Dead by Daylight for how it is and playing, or not and finding another game.
My hat is off to all of you Vets that have stuck it out for 2+ years. You have better game-stamina nowadays than I do for such design flaws.

and regarding youtube. I can create a compilation of me throwing a coin and the only sides that show are head, even 20 times in a row. Does that mean that head is the "OP" side?
Yep. That's why the so-called Tournament actually exposed so much.

@Peanits said: Realistically speaking, rank 1 should mean "best of the best". I don't mean this in a rude way, but we're not all the best of the best. A lot of the people at rank 1 on both sides just shouldn't be there, so I get why it's frustrating. In the perfect world, you should have a challenging but fair match at whatever rank you're at.
I agree with everything you posted, and as a new player, this whole system has already left such a sour taste in my mouth that, to be honest, Behavior might have already lost me. It's something I am giving thought to, today. I made a thread about it here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/171759#Comment_171759
And saying that Rank 1 should be the "best of the best" isn't being rude, it's accurate. Rank 1 should be precisely that. Let's face it, I will never be Grandmaster or Top500 in Overwatch or Heroes of the Storm for precisely that reason. And in both those games, I would never expect to be.
But just for showing up to a match in DBD, especially Survivor side where you can Pip just for breathing the fog, I'll eventually hit the Red Ranks simply based on time played.
It's stupid, and it feels like game design by someone still in school for it. A design that should get a failing grade.
There are so many already successful ranked and elo systems on the market, that it baffles the mind how in the hell Behavior could have gotten it so wrong. It's not like they're breaking new ground here. They already had systems available to study, analyze, and implement.

Unfortunately, you can't quit. The entity will make you keep going and going and going, this pain will never endFunny enough is that I quit. But since my friends wouldn't stop bugging me to play with them, I reinstalled and now only play the game on SWF to play with my DbD buddies but no longer do I play the game on my own accord. Instead I've invested time into checking out other games such as Hob, Omensight, and even jump back into some Rocket League for fun. It's a nice release from the stress that I used to have as a killer main :P
I hear you. I certainly do. I came to DBD to play Killer, and even as a new player I see a ton of glaring issues already. I thought I needed a break from Overwatch, but DBD is making that game enticing again. I might just go back.
But don't worry, folks will come in to tell you that things aren't like that. Just go watch the Top Streamers play Killer and see for yourself. Just git gud. You know, like I haven't been gaming for over 30-years already (I'm 45-years-old), and don't know that it takes time to get good at a new game. Which was never the point. The issue was never about losing matches.
So, I laugh my ass off at that argument. That's like telling people to go watch the Overwatch League or the Top500 placement Streamers in Overwatch.
They are the top 1% in ability, they don't represent the majority; nor will the majority ever achieve their skills and abilities in a game. It's also a piss-poor cover for DBD's glaring issues.

@shasta said: I suggest mastering survivor first and using those bloodpoints to get the killer perks you would like to have and for some insight on certain tricks that they may be using on you
Problem is, I found Survivor very boring. If I do go that route, though, I'll probably just Survivor in the evenings as part of StreamDad's Open Lobbies for SWF that he runs throughout his nightly streams. No way I can do it solo and stick with it.
@DeadByFlashlight said: First of all, it shouldnt be so easy to reach rank 1.
Imagine playing a competitive game and casually grinding yourself into the highest leauges (grandmaster or whatever) in a single week.
LOL,Dota, csgo and all other players would laugh at you
That is precisely what happened many seasons ago in Overwatch when people used the original Mercy (before her reworks) and boosted to the top ranks. People have done it more recently using the broken-as-hell Brigitte.
And they are laughed at and loathed.

@DeadByFlashlight said: jendenise, she admited it on stream several times already
Also she admits using MLGA, just fyi
Oh, that toxic c-word. Yeah, I made the mistake of watching her Stream several times when searching for decent streams to support. I dislike her as a player so much from seeing how she plays, that I actually stopped Following a few streamers I was going to support just because they auto-hosted or raided her at some point.
But of course, Behavior endorses her and her behavior in their new Fog Whisperers pilot program.
I will give Blizzard a lot of crap as someone who's also played their games for 24-years and isn't as happy with their work the past few years, but at least they will enforce no de-ranking. It was one of the first things a top streamer and (now former) Overwatch League player got banned for over there. He was de-ranking in Competitive mode and streaming it.
Blizzard made it known even with one of their top guys that it won't be tolerated. Behavior needs to make a stand, and kick Jendenise from the Fog Whisperers and slap a ban on her. Period.
@DeadByFlashlight said: Well she is just a cute girl that P3ed every character and sits at several thousands hours that wants to have a bit fun with 3 of her friends

Its a really bad idea to drop into the beginner ranks area because queue time is horrible there btw
Yes. And SWF should match based on the highest rank in the group, not the lowest. Especially in a casual game like DBD. I came from Overwatch, and it's the same bullshit as the smurf accounts over there. At least over there, though, you have five teammates to help in the attempt to take out the Smurf. Here, as a Killer, you're just boned.
Only about 30 hours in this game, and I already see its glaring issues. And it isn't a matter of git gud, as some claim. I'll git gud eventually through play. Not my first new game, I know how the process works. It's a matter of how absolutely abusable the system is. I thought I needed a break from Overwatch. Now, I'm thinking: Maybe not.

Good, as a new player already facing obvious Vets who deranked to Rank 15, and then rank reset back to Rank 17 and into our grey ranks, I hope they permaban you #########.
-
@Tsulan said: There is no legit argument to purposely derank to face new players. The rank 20 survivor, OP complained about, was a experienced player who didn't belong there.
Same goes for you. You said it took you 5 months to reach rank 20.
This isn't something to be proud of.
Noob stomping is something despicable.Someone gets it. I'm a new player, and already prepared to just shelve the game because of that BS. To save post time (I just woke-up), I already faced Survivors last night at Rank 20 Killer with damned Bloody Clothes. And more than once last night, too.
Here's what I said, just scroll up to my Original Post in the thread: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/171658#Comment_171658
New players should not be facing Vets when trying to learn that game, never mind doing the Asian grind for bloodpoints and the RNG bloodweb rewards.
-
@CornChip said:
Git GudNo thanks at this point. When a studio has stuff as unbalanced as they do against new players, where the Vets can so easily abuse the system, it's best to just shelve the game and go play something else. Which is pretty much what I'm considering.

Meanwhile, there's at least 2 people i've seen in my lobby with well over 7.000 hours on their profile.
Sucks that you're bored, but you're not restrained to this game.
In fact, go play anything else, it should feel refreshing.
Yeah I just want other people’s opinion on if they’re still having fun or not. Thanks for the reply
I personally am still having fun, but i DID burn through my "addiction" after roughly 1.500 hours.
Since then i've slowed down VERY hard, playing other games more frequently than just this game.
But it's how i keep it fun.1 thing that never helped keep it fun for me is the community.
(Not you guys, unless you tell me your Steam name and then i see you talk ######### to me ingame.
)
I mean sure, you got all these people who at least don't talk ######### on forums and streams, but they're in the VAST minority, and some of them are probably fake too: Pretending to be nice in forums and streams, then shitting all over others in the game.
Gg's are very common to me now, yet there's always 1 person who either just can't stand losing in a videogame or has heavily overcharged their ego from winning.
What Not_Queen said on stream once, talking about how we're all playing together, lol yeah: We need eachother to play.
But personally, i never feel the way she does. I feel more like i'm signing a contract with my archnemesis whenever i open or join a lobby.TL;DR
I can have fun, but not the same way as i could for the first 1500 hours.- I NEED other games. If i play this for the entire day, i'll get more tired than before and probably uninstall it.
- I NEED to avoid communication ingame with others. I can only take so many death threats from high rankers who joined SWF so they could bully low/mid rankers.
For the record, I am as nice in-game as on the forums. Why get angry over a video game? I admit, though, that focusing on Competitive mode for 2-years in Overwatch ended-up doing just that to me. And up until then, I was always a laid back, casual gamer just looking to unwind from the day. That's why I will never play "Competitively" again. I am too old for that #########, and don't like what the self-induced stress does to my enjoyment.
But yeah, I really am a nice guy in-game.
That's why my two Streamers of choice are StreamDad_ and Furryinahurry. Not huge channels, but very chill and about just having fun.
-
@iTz_KilLaZ_x To be honest, I don't have an issue with DBD being competitive or casual at this stage. Don't get me wrong, if it made design changes to go hardcore competitive mode, I would uninstall it in a heartbeat. I won't lie. Been there and done that crap in both Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm for two years, and at my age have no interest in ever going back to it. I just want to play and unwind from my day, and DBD (or the Quick Play modes in those two games) allows me to do just that.
The issue I have with DBD as a new player is the completely asinine bloodpoint grinds to unlock needed Teachables on so many different characters, and then the completely RNG nature of the bloodweb on top of that. This is the dumbest system, outside of an Asian grindy game, that I have ever seen.
Add to that the fact that once I hit Rank 15 (which will happen long before the grind ever begins to pay-off), I've opened myself to be going against de-ranked, normally Red Ranked vets with 2+ years of grind and RNG luck behind them. And I really have no desire to play and get out of the grey ranks.
-
@iTz_KilLaZ_x But see my edit to the post right above your last reply. If they did so something major to push the game into being able to handle real competitive play, they are absolutely going to have to add a mode without Rank, or risk potentially losing a huge chunk of players who don't want to deal with Rank and serious competitive play, and just want to have fun playing a slasher film survivor or killer.
Competitive mode is rarely the most played mode, and for a reason.
-
@iTz_KilLaZ_x saidL Don’t you think if they added a small secondary objective for survivors this game would be more tolerable for competitive players
To be honest, I don't know. I really haven't given it too much thought on it.
-
@iTz_KilLaZ_x said: Damn.. and I spent so much money on cosmetics thinking things would get better.
From a casual standpoint, it might be getting better. I don't know. But as far as being an actual competitive game . . . yeah, DBD isn't that type of game due to design choices they made and stuck with.
Whether or not the game continues to hold steady at places like Steam Charts for another year, remains to be seen. They might be banking on the fact that casuals really are the majority. And they are. To cite a recent example, even Blizzard admitted that in Overwatch, which pushes Competitive play and even created the OWL to further market and push the concept, the game modes, from most played to least played by the playerbase, goes: Arcade, Quick Play, Competitive.
I've seen other studios over the past few years say that Competitive mode usually hovers around 15% of the playerbase, too.

And they really won't. I researched and studied DBD for about a year before finally landing here. The forums, reddit, streamers, the dev streams, and YouTube guides. I even correlated perks and add-ons at the Wiki.
I saw before popping in here that the game, despite being 1v4 pvp and having "Ranks," was very casual in many of its core design choices. I mean, having been a Blizzard player, I will tell you that both Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm are casual in core designs, but they also do enough to maintain an Esports scene for themselves.
I did not see any such elements in DBD, and was not shocked when the attempted tournament was such a disaster.
Which is why I feel so many Forum people who play DBD "competitively" are so frustrated. So much of the core design with the way they created a lot of Perks and Add-Ons that are in the game just doesn't support any type of serious competitive play.
So should competitive players quit this game then? What do you think they should do?
If they're looking for a true competitive experience in a game with design and balance elements that can support that, or an eSport, then sadly: Yeah, this is really the wrong game to look for that.

Legit question. Starting out, it’s fun. You learn how to play optimally on both sides. But after you get both down, how is it still fun?The only incentive to play is to grind for the good perks and stuff. Survivors don’t even need perks if they’re good enough due to the balance issues of gens getting done fast.
Im sick of playing nurse and billy. I tried to mix it up but at high ranks, it’s not fun. Survivor is not fun to me because it’s loop, gen simulator.
I dont want to quit because I enjoy horror games and I can see potential in this game. But at its current state, it’s stale and doesn’t seem to be getting any better core wise.
Also, as I mentioned earlier, I legit was trying with mid-low tier killers. Verse the optimal teams, I’d get a kill or 2 on average right? Ok so I got tired of that, I switched to camping leatherface and I was 4k’ing consistently. Pretty sad. Survivors were literally handing me the match game after game. I guess you could say they were bored just doing gens and leaving lol.
How long have you been playing DBD? Eventually, burn-out happens, and it's time for a break.
As an example, I was in Overwatch from launch day until end of September. So, from May 2016 until September 2018. Finally, between knowing the game in and out, knowing counters and kits, maps like they were my own neighborhood, being effective with a majority of the Heroes, and making the mistake of caring about SR Rank, I had to step away from it. I was bored as soon as I pressed the Play button.
So, I came to DBD a few weeks ago.
Now, I don't know if DBD will hold me for two years like that. I'm about to turn 46 years old, and the bloodpoint grind in the game as a new player for Teachables, never mind the complete RNG nature of the bloodweb, makes some Asian gaming grinds look attractive by comparison. But, we'll see.
As far as the game's potential. Never play a game based on its potential, only whether or not the Devs are going in a direction you enjoy in the here and now. Overwatch has a ton of potential, but it's potential that will never, ever, be seen by Blizzard. Same is true of Paladins with Hi-Rez, and other games and studios.

Black ops 4 killed this game on Xbox. No one is playing anymore. This game is killing itself.
Because the Devs pander to the Survivors, which are filled with self-entitled ass holes that thinks they HAVE to win every match to the point of verbally abusing Killers who get even 1 hook (Not a kill, just a hook), it's common to see 3 to all 4 Survivors get away.
Which makes playing Killer a joke experience. But hey, the Devs made their choice: Either go Survivor or stop playing. They said it themselves. They don't care that the Killers are underpowered.
That the side of the fight that needs the freaking power to equal 4 survivors that need 3 hits MINIMUM to kill lacks that power. Because the Survivor mains would scream louder if they lost. Just like at launch.
The problem isn't going to change, either, if what I heard is true. I didn't jump into Deathgarden, but from what I have heard, Hunters were considered OP at early access launch. If that's true, then look at that game now. Lucky to have a 30-player peak in a 24-hour period.
If indeed true, and it helped abort Deathgarden in the womb as runner players left the game, then there is no way Killers will become what they should be to take on four opponents at once in DBD.
