I picked it up 3 years ago not recently. You are very keen on having a moral high ground. Actually you have a superiority complex. You played in a video game in 2016 nothing more nothing less. New killer and survivor mains can be annoying but you cant blame them they joined dbd in an awkward time.
I'll take the moral high ground, because I'm getting the impression that you're saying my opinion doesn't matter because I'm using the whole of my DBD experience and not just what's current.

Yeah I dont dislike orion he isnt bad he can dash some really good points. That vet card is weird to say the least atleast for me. It doesnt make you any better or special than me.
You being newer shouldn't mean that Orion's experience should be thrown out either, just because you joined later. 4 years experience that they're giving as input into the topic and you want to disregard it.

Also, I'd like you to define what a noob is, since me and azame have been playing since the game released on console, which is over 2 years.
Okay, so you've played it for 2 years, versus the 4 year lifespan of the game thus far. That's 2 years of development you've missed out on. And I didn't call you a 'noob'. That's an insult more than anything. I said "new bloods", meaning those who are newer to the game by comparison.

This thread is about the devs listening to mostly survivors, not listened, they are talking about the present, not the past, so you being a vet doesn't matter at all, nor does it give you the moral high ground.
No, they're talking about, as you said "the devs listening to mostly survivors". The past matters in this discussion, because it brought the game to where it is today.

I really dislike it when people pull the vet card and use that to back up their opinion, I think orion is alright, because he always remains constructive.
Dbd is not a very difficult game to understand, and being a vet doesn't ever make your opinion more valid than anyone else's.
Sure it does. This thread is about the devs having a bias towards survivors and who better to ask than those who have been with the game since its release? 😂 This isn't rocket science.

I'm not saying learn from someone who wasnt what I am saying is that hes making a valid point. 5 seconds staying on the DS stun isnt favoritism its nust balance the duration cut the stun too short and the survivors had no way to get distance.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1675145#Comment_1675145
You dont have to bend over back for "new bloods." Your 2016 status means nothing atleast to me. All you vets did was play the video game a couple years earlier 1 year earlier than me. The most I can respect you for is keeping the game alive ling enough for me to pick it up on console.
And you picking it up recently means you're ignorant to everything that preceded you. Veteran players are the ones who have the most experience with the game. As Orion said, we lived it. In a video game, that should mean more. Unfortunately, this thread has newbies who likely never watched the weekly streams throughout the years to see and hear what the devs chose to change and their reasons for doing it.

Indeed, it is bullshit, but that's how it works. There's no real reason for it to even work like that because it literally only comes into play if survivors gen tap.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1675133#Comment_1675133
You're literally telling me, the guy who was there, witnessed the changes, and heard the devs' justifications, to "learn" from someone who wasn't.
I think I'm going to stick with believing what actually happened, seeing as how I witnessed it.
Sucks that us vets have to bend over backwards to get these new bloods to believe us, eh?

Rank 2 killer. Bubba main. Camps hooks with undetectable. Extremely bad at looping and any other skills this game requires. Yet still on rank 2 cuz Bubba. EZEZ after matches.
I did this once. Overall i played Bubba like 5 times but he is extremely boring and i feel "special" for playing this killer.
In my entire time i have seen maybe 2 or 3 decent Bubba players, but most of them run around like headless chicken and search behind every rock to find someone they can hook camp. Not too hard to beat with a decent team that doesn't fall for him. But seriously, killers that do nothing but camp hooks. What a low life.
Billy can also one hit players but at least he requires a bit of skill to get a hit on a survivor and not a wall. Bubba is just so ... low and cheap. No respect.
I know he already got a rework but at this point, i would like to see him completely removed from the game.
Any thoughts?
He's not boring, you just play him in a boring way.
-
Weaker perks are more fun these days, because a lot of killers expect the strong stuff. Lightweight + corn + pebble = lul
-
Hex Undying needs to be left out of that write up. I 100% disagree with him on wanting to nerf it. Same with NOED. This might be because I've played this game for 4 years, but I feel it's in a perfect spot right now. Survivors are starting to do totems more often now and those that don't usually book it out the match because they may expect it coming. Either way, it's something survivors (I assume anyway) have learned to properly combat.
-
When I was learning to play Clown, my bottle tossing skills were awful. There was a Steve who picked up on this and crouched ontop of a hill nodding his head at me to taunt. I chucked a bottle at him, but it went up and over. His head followed the bottle. He turned slowly and shook his head at me. I lowered my head and walked away in shame. Steve then spent the rest of the match trying to cheer me up lol.

After having a losing streak as killer and seeing many survivors with BT/DS/Deliverance etc, I realized that these are all perks that revolve around the hooking mechanic. Knowing this, I decided to never hook survivors until everyone is slugged and/or have the survivors die from bleeding out, because those perks would never work unless I hook them. I started to see more success in my games, but after matches, survivors would start to call me toxic for not hooking them and keeping them slugged the entire match, and it was my "responsibility" to make the game fun.
Although I've been winning more matches for not hooking all survivors until they are all slugged, am I a toxic killer for doing this strategy? Is this a bannable/keeping the game hostage?
Perks I run:
- Hex Undying
- Hex Ruin
- Hex Haunted Ground / Deathbound
- Deerstalker
That's fine.

I'm 60% killer 40% survivor.
I'm playing killer, main Doctor, and I'm 4k-ing at 3 or 4 gens with little to no effort, It's just boring and I'm starting to feel bad for survivors. I still haven't had a match where they found my totems, but it's pretty boring to see survivors die without hope, some of them even suicide, it's not even challenging for me. It's the reason why the old ruin was "nerfed" (or reworked, however you want to see it), it gives A LOT of value with little to no effort. I just don't feel rewarding winning like this, so I'm just going back to my corrupt+pop slow down.
As survivor, I'm solo player (maybe in SWF is not that OP). I like to totem hunt, I know the spots, the problem is that by the time I do the totems, one or more people on my team are on death hook and we're at 4 or 5 gens, so it's pretty much an uphill battle if the killer is decent. Even if we focus on gens, the pressure of going for unhooks, heal and going back to the regressed gen is like getting 2 PGTW.
I'm not a blind killer main, I like challenges and I want the match to be fair and fun for everyone. This feels wrong, I think undying should be nerfed, like 1 totem respawn, not 4. And the aura reading makes it like a stronger Thrill of the Hunt. It's like TOO MUCH going on in one single perk. I hope it gets reworked.
What are your thoughts?
If you're doing so great as killer, then handicap yourself by not using those perk combinations to challenge yourself. Not everyone is as skilled as you claim to be. 🙄

This is too much work for BHVR to ever do. I think a couple of simpler mechanics (that are already in the game so should be easy to implement) are:
Fix face camping:
- Make it so when a killer is camping (can use the same criteria as the chaser emblem) that all other survivors receive a 50% bonus to their repair speeds. Can tweak the number, but basically, make it so if the killer facecamps, that all gens can get done before the survivor dies, giving the team a chance to even save that survivor. Right now if survivors stay on gens they can finish 4.5 gens before the survivor dies (does not include time between each gen). But if they had 50% more speed then they could finish 9 gens in that time, almost assuring that they get all the gens done.
- Make kindred base kit
Fix Tunneling and proxy camping:
- Make is so when a survivor is rescued from a hook they go into a new state called "ethereal" which behaves exactly like spirits power for the survivor. They become invisible, they have no collision, they move at like double speed, they leave no scratch marks, and they make no sound, they can see the killer's aura, they can see other survivors and other survivors can see them. This effect lasts for 20 seconds (same as BT) or until they get healed, or start repairing a gen, or basically do any action other than run.
- After that you need to rework BT and a few other perks like We'll make it to make them more viable for that scenario.
After that, you need to buff killers a bit, especially in the early game. I'd suggest to do something like, make it so generator speeds are halved until the first chase starts (similar to Scott Jund's trial warmup) or some other mechanism to change the early game.
So, basically "nerf killers, buff survivors". Brilliant. 🙄 While we're forcing killers to play a certain way, how about once a generator is complete, another one can't be worked on until after a set amount of time? Or maybe implement a pallet and window exhaustion feature to prevent lengthy looping?
-
@JoeyBob said:
It's boring that there's only 2 good exhaustion perks, sprint burst and dead heard (adrenaline is kinda different from the rest).
The old balanced landing wasn't even better than these perks in many situations, and whether or not it was good depended highly on your map and location. Sprint burst and dead hard are better in the sense that they can be used in all maps and in essentially all locations.
######### that. Old balanced landing was so exploited and abuseable.

Literally had a game as blight right now last 4 minutes from start to finish. Four minutes! How the hell is anyone supposed to learn a new killer when gen times are so overpowered?
They're not. So long as gen rushing is possible, this is the game as it is. It's funny, because those same people complain about being tunneled and camped, when those wouldn't even have to happen if there was more time for the killer to play.
-
@Clevite said:
What rank are you? How long have you been playing?
Killer is at the strongest point it has ever been in DBD history.
Perhaps you have actually ranked up past your skill level. If you are losing game after game you should eventually depip to a rank more becoming of your skill level.
4 man optimal SWFs are indeed a challenge, but I find them maybe a few games out of 10. Other than that I am 4king potatoes.
Like others have said if you struggle maybe learn Spirit/Freddy for some EZ 4ks.
Killer is at the strongest point it has ever been in DBD history isn't saying much.

@BaldursGate2 said:
None. I have so many occasions where i did not tunnel / camp and they just made up a story how i tunneled or still t-bag at the exit gates.
Why should anyone bother to not suck out the fun for survivors in every game? Behaviour doesn't ban people for something like that, so you wanna risk to play "fair" and still get t-bagged or eZ gg at the end?
The toxic cycle will continue until this unsportsmanlike behaviour will be punished.
/EDIT
Yeah, but it's only a game, don't get tilted. Oh it's only a sport, don't bother the winner didn't shake your hand or spit in your face. Thanks.
Playing fair as killer was when the game was first released. Since then, survivors started the trend of being toxic which has lead to the community being what it is today. They made their bed, they been having to sleep in it since with all the camping and tunneling that came with it.

I like it. I think it is a little bit too loud, but overall I like the new sound effects for gens. Even if they are stupid.

Here's my rationale:
If DS is in play, the killer cannot afford to let it activate in the end-game, because that's just a guaranteed escape. Therefore, the killer must force DS to activate earlier, and the only way to do that is to pick up a survivor within 60 seconds of them being unhooked.
What do you think? Does DS cause more "tunneling"*?
*For the sake of this discussion, assume "tunneling" means that a survivor was picked up by the killer within 60 seconds of said survivor being unhooked.
EDIT: And no, I'm not saying that "tunneling" would go away if DS were removed. I'm saying what I actually wrote, don't try to extrapolate or assume anything else.
I know I do. They bring that perk knowing how broken it is makes me want to punish them for it.
-
Survivors can equip items and perks to see the killer's aura.
-
@ringwinning said:
Do you camp?
Whether it be for strategy or just to facecamp for fun or anything of the sort. No judgment, I'm just curious how many killers do consciously camp.
Absolutely. If it's early or midgame then camping would be bad, but if its late game, gens are just about done or are finished and I had a poor match, then it's time roast some marshmellows over an open fire.
-
I bought the minotaur skin for oni. That's the only one i think is worth the flex.
-
Timing or diversion. You coukd fake an unhook and try to dodge it. Another teammate can unhook once someone else is shocked.
-
I wish they'd remove the cap. I'm at a point in my DBD career that all my killers are p3 with all perks, so I ran out of ways to spend my blood points, since I don't run addons and I already p3'd and maxed out the survivors I like using. Now I just level up survivors I don't care about because it feels like a waste of BP to play while sitting at 1mil cap while waiting to dump them all into the next chapter.

so dbd is coming to next gen consoles and will receive regular updates but does that mean that current gen console users are going to be left behind? will we not get any updates? will we never get the optimisation we were promised two years ago?
because devs i don't know if you know this but not everyone has the money to buy a brand new console day 1 just to play your game, some of us have to wait 3-4 years for the price to drop low enough for us to afford it without making us financially unstable.
please we just want confirmation that we are not forgotten and not a copy paste response like "we have notified the team and will look into it"
They're making progression saved from old consoles to new consoles so YOU don't abandon them.

Maybe one day they'll look at him and rework the way his ability progresses. As it stands, it's not exactly balanced as it's now archaic. Scratched Mirror builds are fun, but I'm sure the devs didn't even have indoor maps in game at the time of his release. It was the players who created the whole jump scare Myers build.

For me, the answer is absolutely yes. The amount of information this perk gives you is insane.
Hear the lullaby of Huntress? You'll always know if she's headed towards you.
Wraith, Pig, or Ghostface sneaking up on you? You'll know the moment they start closing in.
Not sure if a Spirit is phasing? Simply look for the perk lighting up to tell where she's looking.
It's basically 2 perks for one. Providing knowledge for both in, and out of chase. Premonition, an otherwise decent perk, is completely outclassed by Spine Chill.
My suggestion is to make Spine Chill only active when inside of a killer's terror radius. Make it only give knowledge inside of a chase and so that perks like Premonition have a chance to be picked.
Spine Chill shouldn't ignore undetectable. That's my biggest issue with it.
-
I see a lot of people saying she's fine. How is she best played if she's fine?

Really, there's no need. With survivors all being the same, it makes it so you can play as any of the survivor roster without missing out on some buff. You can just play as the one you like, visually.

Stop it with the gen speed 😂 you realize how easy it is for killers to feed off hooks and keep half the team on their toes? That alone slows down gen speed along with perks. You’re over here asking for handouts that will only further promote hook camping (no pressure from gens popping because survivors should stare at a progress bar for hours on end right?)
Please, go into detail. I'd like to hear it.

If your getting gen rushed the survivors are doing gens without considering other things like generator placement. So camp the 3 generators close to each other. If you don't have 3 generators close to each other you probably weren't gen rushed so work on getting better. That or the map spawn was not in your favor. :(
You'd be suprised though how you can quickly turn a bad game into a good one by focusing on 3 gens close to each other. Especially with perks like pop goes weasel. As the survivors gotta play risky and often get downed if they wanna get any gens done. :)
Anyway hope this helped as I see many killers complaining about this issue.
Ah, the old "jUsT GeT BeTtEr" tactic. Why didn't killers just think of that sooner! 🤪
