  • "Currently cheaters have ripped code from either DBD or DBD mobile's files and are using the BHVR created AI to play in public matches "

    I won't say a word cause i will get banned 😂

  • @itsPina said:

Otz recently posted a video where 70-80% of all survivors he went against for a few day span ran dead hard. How are the devs, notoriously focused solely on data, able to justify not ######### nerfing this perk? Are they going to let the player count reach zero? That's what it's looking like.

Remember when they said new killers would get touched up during the next mid chapter patch? What happened to that? What happened to the key/mori change? What happened to the bloodpoint change?

There will always be META perks.

If DH is nerfed, another perk will replace it as META and 80% of the players will use it.

It is normal taht META perks are used a lot, nothing bad about it.

Honestly, i don't think that DH is better than Lithe for exemple... Lithe is underrated and the killer losses way more time against it.

Good luck in trying to get Riots own designed anti-cheat for billions of dollars, while it was already discussed on a controversial level since its release. Just because something is working in an other game better doesnt mean it will be better in dbd. Also, that system probably has some lawissues still going on.

Vanguard just check your files all the time, it is scanning your PC and looks for cheat programs, that's all, it would be effective for every games.

  • What is awesome is that its the official forum and we barely have any devs or community manager bringing answers, roadmap or anything about core subject.

    • balance = not a single word from BHVR on this forum (like detailed goals or smth)
    • cheating = not a single word at all

I mean, it's a forum, the official one, why don't the devs interact with us here ? BHVR communication is weird, like if they were in an ivory tower.

HEEEEELLLLOOOO the community is here, give us infos.

  • You guys really asking to play against/with bots in a multiplayer game where the one and only purpose of the game is to interact with other players ?

    Wow 2022... impressive era...

  • @Tiufal said:

Some people talk like its an easy thing to come up with a proper anti-cheat system. basically every other game has the same issues with cheaters, its not a dbd or eac exclusive issue. other systems have the same issues detecting cheaters on a solid base. there is no system thats works really good.

Valorant anti cheat is back in focus after a Vanguard alter during a tournament and another ban wave, we ask how big a problem are Valorant cheaters?

Cheaters in Valorant (and LoL) are really rare and tend to be almost non-existent :

    • Getting a ban is really expensive as if you want to play Valorant you then have to buy a new Computer
    • Developping cheats to by-pass vanguard (which is updated regularly) requires too much effort for the cheating industry and they loose interest doing so

    To resume it :

    • too much risk for the customer --> less potential customers, less money for cheats developers
    • anti-cheat system & updates requires too much effort --> too much time lost for the cheat devs
    • players still trying their chance get HWID banned --> bb we never see them again

    --> less and less cheaters

No system is perfect but harassing the cheat developers is the only way to win the war.

EAC is well-known for being not efficient at all...

  • @KateDunson said:

Looks like something too expensive and that takes too much effort, in short, not something they will ever do

Well it is on their side.

I know how those companies are working/thinking : short term profits, no long term strategy

But fact is thinking this way they end up loosing money.

DbD is the only "good" asymmetrical game, they have a ton of great licences and with a better anticheat system + better balance/SBMM they would have a gem of a game for the next ten years easily, bringing millions and millions of dollars into the company.

Not dealing with the problems we currently have will end up killing the game by the end of the year = no more revenue.

And honestly, i doubt that BHVR will be able to develop another good game. They have been lucky, really lucky with DbD.

  • @Ginnypig said:

Its too late dude, The game is infested from the core up. Just deal with it or leave the game imo

Nah it is not too late. I play at high MMR and i don't encounter many cheaters. In the last 15 hours i haven't encountered one cheater, or at least it was not blatant cheating.

  • I honestly don't think we will face many killer AI, they exist, we will face them sometimes but i doubt it will be more than 2% of the games.

I mean, i have 2k hours on DbD and have faced like 3 or 4 blatant cheaters. Sure there are more but nothing that game breaking.

Well at least i hope so it won't be as bad as some ppl think.

  • Troll or not, just report it, this kind of behavior should not exist.

    Promotting cheating is bannable.

  • BHVR has to change the anti-cheat. EAC does pretty much nothing, it is a really perfectible anticheat system that almost doesn't work at all.

Punkbuter is better. Also, BHVR can discuss with Riot to see if it would be possible to get a system like Vanguard which is the best anticheat that exists.

This is solely designed to sell maxed out accounts with BP for $2k.

These bot farms are not doing this to ruin anyones fun, they openly sell these accounts for sometimes thousands of dollars.

Same with wow gold, and everything else online that is bot-farmed

Well and the guy buying the account ends up playing against boring bot ai killers... 😂

Omg... okay servers will surely soon be spammed by bot killers... BHVR should start to migrate to another anticheat, like PB. EAC is way too bad.

  • Yes. Clicky clicky is for fun, nothing bad...

  • @GoshJosh said:

So far they’ve announced nothing but killer buffs for the next patch, including a heavy CoH nerf. But have you not experienced the fun that is being hard camped and tunneled on the other side, which you say and do? Bet those survivors are having loads of fun too!

It is not about buffing or nerfing one side.

The game balance has been tweaked to a point it is not fun anymore for no one.

The fun aspect of the game is the interaction with the opposite side, in one word : CHASES.

    What about chases nowadays ?

    • For the killers : they are frustrating, gens are done too fast = you always have the feel to have no time
    • For the survivors : chases don't last as long as before, they end up doing gens most of the time = terrible gameplay

The good balance to make a fun game is tweak gens speed or add some new objectives. Of course, balance the map's layouts + killers to make chases longer and funnier.

That's all we need and all we want. No side has ever wanted chases to be over in 30 seconds top.

In 2017, chases were way funnier.

  • They will add it, it is in the 2022 road map.

Happy New Year! We’re back after a quick break and jumping right back into things with another developer update. Like last time, there’s too much to go through in one sitting, so check back tomorrow for part 2. Most of this will appear in the upcoming Mid-Chapter, but we also wanted to be a bit more transparent with what we’re working on for the future. For the sake of clarity, we’ve marked anything that’s for a later update with “Future”.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/G7427991HROQ/performance.png

    Future: Patch Optimization Plans

Depending on where you play, it can either take a while to install a patch or patch sizes can be unusually large. Needless to say, this isn’t ideal: When new content releases, who wants to wait around for it? That’s why we’re working on improving the update process going forward.

First of all, why does it take so long? To keep it simple, the game is split up into small chunks. This way when the game updates, you only need to download the chunks that changed rather than the whole game. The trouble is, as the game has grown over the years, so have these chunks, which makes downloads and/or patch times (depending on which platform you’re on) longer.

So what are we doing about it? In the short term, for Steam only due to technical reasons, we will be compressing the files more starting this Mid-Chapter. This will make patch times as much as 50% faster and decrease the amount of disk space required by about 18 GB.

Next, we’ll be restructuring these chunks in a future update. This will affect all platforms and make patch times up to 200% faster!

IMPORTANT NOTE: In both cases, these improvements will require you to completely redownload the game. This means there will be a very large download when updating or opting into or out of the PTB. Don’t worry, this is normal! Afterwards, updates will go back to being much smaller.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/H4VK1AGDPFQQ/matchmaking.png

    Future: Matchmaking Optimization Plans

We’re a few months into Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM), and we’d like to shed some light on what we’ve been working on and the improvements we’ll be making going forth. Though it may be polarizing, we want to be as transparent as possible when it comes to SBMM, as the discussions that stem from it are incredibly valuable to us as we continue to work on improvements.

The game and the community are constantly changing, and the matchmaking system should always be adapted to support them. This is why we’re constantly making changes behind the scenes. One recent example came from an influx of new players. We noticed that the default rating was placing first-time players against some fairly experienced opponents. So, to remedy this, we lowered the default rating for new players so they would be more likely to play amongst each other. We’re regularly making changes like this behind the scenes to find the best balance of fast queues and quality matches.

Beyond small tweaks, we’ve identified some areas where the system could be improved. Let’s run through each of them quickly:

    Backfill Improvements

If someone leaves a lobby, the matchmaker needs to find a replacement (a.k.a. backfill). Right now, it heavily favours a quick replacement over a quality one. This can lead to some matches where one (or more) players are outside of their normal skill range. We’re going to work towards finding a good balance between quality and wait times.

    Disconnection Handling

Currently, the SBMM system doesn’t handle disconnects as well as it could. We’re looking to make adjustments to handle them better and make sure disconnects are treated fairly when altering someone’s rating.

    Extended Breaks

When someone takes an extended break from the game, their rating does not change. This isn’t ideal since you’re bound to be a little rusty after not playing for a while, and returning to difficult matches is a recipe for a frustrating night. We’re hoping to introduce a mechanic that adjusts your rating(s) when you’ve been gone for a while to ease you back in when you return.

    General Improvements

This one is a little more technical: The game will detect which server you have the best connection to and match you with other players who are close to that server. This works well enough, but if you’re right between two servers, you’ll only be matched with one set of players. For players who have good connections to more than one server, we’d like to open up matchmaking and allow them to find matches with either set of players. This can help balance out queue times at off-peak hours and even improve the quality of the matches made.

As a note, these changes will take a while to develop, but we’re confident that these will make notable improvements on the matchmaking system.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/JW8CDFZPQFJZ/lonelysurvivor.png

    Future: Solo Survivor Experience

If you’re reading this, you’ve been left on the hook at some point. Okay, maybe not, but the chances are very high.

Thanks to Skill Based Matchmaking ratings, we’re able to see the impact playing with a premade group has on the outcome of a match at various skill levels. The data confirms our suspicions: As skill goes up, so does the gap in survival rates between solo survivors and premade groups. In the top end of skill levels, the difference in escape rates can be as much as 15%.

This isn’t great: This difference between solo Survivors and groups makes it difficult to find a perfect balance. If we balance Killers around premade groups, solo Survivors get left behind. Meanwhile, if we balance around solo Survivors, Killers will have a rough time against groups. With that in mind, we’re working on some measures to bridge the gap between solo Survivors and premade groups, which will allow us to better balance Killers as a result.

We’re aiming to strike a balance between making the solo player(s) feel like they’re a part of the team without being overbearing. For example, we want to share key pieces of information, like “What are my teammates doing?”, but not too much info, like showing everyone’s exact location. To put it simply, the idea is to bring solo Survivors up to the same level, not give people excessive information that makes even premade groups stronger.

We want to share a very early peek at one potential way of closing this gap. Before we do, we want to stress that this is in the very early stages; we’re curious to hear what you think, but please keep in mind that it may change or even be scrapped entirely.

One feature we are experimenting with is a status icon next to each Survivor’s portrait in the HUD that lets you know what they are doing. This way, solo Survivors can base their decision around what their teammates are doing, and partial groups get a better idea of their solo teammates’ contributions, making everyone feel like more of a team. This is something that can already be easily conveyed with a quick callout over voice chat, but is currently not available to solo Survivors.

Once again, this is a very early preview- so early that we’re still discussing this internally. Feel free to share your thoughts, but please keep in mind that none of this is final or confirmed. Depending on how things go, this feature may be changed or scrapped entirely before it ever sees the light of day. We wanted to be open about this and keep you in the loop: The gap between solo Survivors and groups is not going under the radar, it’s something we’re actively working on.

    New Betas Tab

Sometimes we think up some experimental features that we’d love some feedback and data on, but they aren’t quite ready to release into the wild just yet. Enter the Betas tab!

Next time you head to the Settings menu, you’ll see a new Betas tab. Here, you’ll find betas for upcoming features that you can opt in or out of as you please. Want to share your thoughts on something early on? Awesome, opt in!

The icing on the cake: You’ll be rewarded with extra Bloodpoints for the first bunch of matches you play with a beta activated.

Unlike the Player Test Build, these Betas are also available on consoles. Everyone’s invited!

So, the only question is, what’s the first beta going to be? How about…

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/4H9ZQBKVMHFD/wiggle.png

    Wiggle Update

Last year, we changed struggling from button mashing to skill checks, making it much more accessible and a lot easier on your buttons & keys. We’ve been working on a similar update to wiggling as well, and we’re finally ready to share it with you.

Instead of mashing buttons, you’ll see a skill check while being carried- only this one has two zones and doesn’t go away when you hit it. Instead, hitting the skill check successfully will cause it to switch directions and gradually fill your wiggle meter. Keep hitting those skill checks to keep wiggling!

This interaction keeps wiggling interactive while requiring far fewer inputs and is much easier on your joysticks, making it more accessible to players with repetitive strain injuries. Additionally, each side of the skill check can optionally be bound to a different button to further increase the gap between repeated button presses.

This update will first appear in the betas tab, allowing you to opt in as you please.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/08PLAC60FA49/settings.png

    Toggle Interactions

On the topic of accessibility, another feature that will be debuting with this update is a toggle mode for interactions. This new option, which can be enabled in the Settings, makes holding a button for long periods of time a thing of the past. Simply press the button to start the interaction and press it again to stop it.

To go with it, you’ll also find a new option to cancel interactions by sprinting. Enabling this will automatically cancel actions and cause you to start running whenever you sprint.

Our goals with these new settings are to make Dead by Daylight more accessible, and to provide an alternative for players that don’t wish to hold a button for the entire length of an interaction. Plus, this frees up a hand so you can take a drink while hitting skill checks! (We’ll still predict when you’re taking a drink and give you a skill check, though, that’s our favourite feature.)

If you’ve made it this far, you’ve earned yourself a break from reading - check back tomorrow for part 2! But before you go, we have one last bit of news for today: The Player Test Build opens Wednesday, January 5th. See you there!

    The Dead by Daylight team

    image.png

  • Game is super boring right now, just came back 3 days ago after a 6 months break. Have played like 5 hours in the last 3 days and i already want to uninstall again. Let me tell you it is even worse than when i have stopped.

Those devs really do not know how to improve this game. Globally, the game has become worse with each update since Curtain Calls. Some tweaks have been positive changes for sure but globally, the overall experience just went downhill.

Also the community has changed throughout the years to become the most toxic community in the video game industry thanks to some mechanics the developers have chose to make legit.

There has been a study on the DbD's toxicity and well let's resume it like the game mechanics/systems etc... are terrible for the player's mental health : https://www.tuni.fi/playlab/toxic-behaviour-in-dead-by-daylight-as-perceived-by-the-players/

BHVR has never adressed it. Imagine your boss being caught for harassment towards the employee and the big boss does nothing about it...

Many players have posted on this forum about how this game was draining their energy an had a huge negative impact on them... try to find the same kind of post on Overwatch, LoL, R6, Valorant or CSS. It does not exist. Many streamers are in a burn out aswell with DbD...

  • Not an Otz's fan but cannot deny he is often doing a pretty good job.

And i totally agree with him, it's really boring to play at high level, it's full of meta perks players + full OP items abusers. It is really frustrating to play as a killer but as a survivor aswell.

    As a killer :

    • Survivors use meta perks and only meta perks
    • Survs use items and abuse it (many toolboxes for exemple)
    • Gen rush is way, way too fast

    As a survivor :

    • Many killers feel forced to camp and tunnel so they abuse it
    • Meta builds every trials
    • Not much variety in the killers you are facing

Well, a casual game where everyone is try harding to increase its invisible MMR is a terrible thing and well, it is killing DbD. Many players are stopping and it will continue so with such a ranking matchmaking.

Hope they remove it and switch it back to the good old system.

  • I hope they will fix or remove the SBMM. Then the playerbase will grow back as there will be more killers playing.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

Oh so it isn't just me?

    I don't like it

Same, quite hard to read with this font 😶

  • @Megmain80 said:

until all survivor perks, medkits, flashlights, hatches and maps are removed from the game. Then they will get easy 4ks every game and be happy.

Play killer first and then talk about it. Yo uare a surv main, how do you know how is the state of the game ?

Only those playing both sides know clearly how the balance is, you don't play both side, don't talk about balance.

This influencer is talking about it here and yes, numbers are decreasing since the SBMM release... it's crazy that BHVR didn't not remove it. We have lost half the players on peak times and 30% on average... It is so huge and it is still decreasing. EVERYONE i know hates the SBMM, EVERYONE.

  • @EntityNea said:

I read through the official news topic here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/315687

All it does is talk about how some people favor fast queue times while other people favor fair matchmaking,The way they describe how matchmaking tries to find people close to your MMR and then expand over time to find people further away from your MMR is normal for any kind of matchmaking system, and it sounds based on that post that they'll just experiment with these numbers.

But it doesn't adress the issue that the way people's MMR is decided to begin with is the core of the issue. Based on interviews I've read, MMR for killers seems to be purely based on whether or not you get kills or let survivors escape, and for survivors it seems to be based on whether or not you escape or die.

Do the devs understand that there's more to the game than living or dying? If you're able to play like a god (on either side) and make the match miserable for whoever you're facing, and then be able to lower your MMR anyways by choosing to die at the end or let the survivors escape... Then you can keep facing newbies forever.

And that's the problem... Not everybody plays to win, personally I enjoy dying to the killer at the end, and after reading the interviews about how MMR is calculated it made so much sense why I keep matching with newbies despite having over 1500 hours.

To fix the MMR system, they need to look at more than just whether or not survivors live or die.

the MMR system needs to look at more variables than that. For example, how long a chase lasts before the survivor goes down, percentage of missed skill checks, percentage of missed swings, how fast a killer is able to locate survivors, how much time a survivor spends idling without progressing the objective. These are just examples, the most important thing is probably how long chases go on for before a down, since that's the most skillful interaction on both the survivor's and killer's side.

I apologize if this is very long, it's just concerning that nothing about the MMR calculation itself is mentioned when they talk about changes, and that they only mention how these numbers are planned to be used while finding matches.

They cannot do it as they clearly do not know what is a good DbD player. Just look at their stream when devs are playing... they do not even know the basics of high skill play... on any sides.

Old rank system was working better giving funnier trials and a better mix between try hard and competitive matches. Moreover, you could not end up in a ELO hell.

MMR must be removed, it doesn't work and will never work if they don't hire someone that actually knows how to develop a good system.

  • Finally, after months of complaints... terrible to take so much time to understand that it was clearly OP.

Experienced players knew this from the PTB version of it... those devs are really miles away of knowing what balance means.

  • @Mileena_Kahn said:

Literally every match I’ve played today the killers has just babysat the first person they’ve hooked and go after them when they get unhooked, despite having borrowed time. And for the cherry on top they shake their heads, hit on hook, and BM everyone. But then you 4 escape them and then they have nothing to say in end game chat. And that’s not even showing the builds they run, you can guess a few already… DMS, NOED, RUIN, UNDYING, and SCOURGE. People claim all survivors play the same way but at this point it goes both ways, maybe even more so on the killers end. It’s sad.

Camping and tunneling is the only viable option for killers if they play to win, especially at a good level. If they don't do it they get a gen rush.

Devs have never addressed the game design to allow better gameplay interactions between the killer and the survivors so the gameplay is now frustrating for bot hsides 90% of the time.

  • @Flawless_ said:

1 out of 3 matches I play they're all clustered on the same side of the map...

Yes it is too hard as for :

    • optimizing the game
    • changing the anticheat system
    • balancing the game
    • find a way to remove gen rush and camping/tunneling
    • removing sbmm

BHVR doesn't care about what the community thinks. The game is dying really quickly, loosing tons of players every months. It's about time to be back to the 4 years ago playerbase rofl...

  • @Clem_from_Shonan said:

After 5 years of intense playing, I eventually decided to delete the game. Issues and toxic behaviors and bugs have been reported for years and nothing is done.

Just played 2 games, face camped for the 1st and slugged for the second. As I do not want to waste my time on a hook or on the ground, I quit the game and I am punished with temporary ban for leaving while the killers are rewarded with BP for the bad behaviors.

I'm done with it. Deal with the decreasing number of players now ! !

Many players have already quit the game as i did a few months ago.

Steam peak player is around 40k now... 1 month ago it was 50k and a few months ago we were between 75k/100k.

Everyone is leaving because the game is not fun, unbalanced, and doesn't involve mind game anymore.

Personnaly i have switched to 4X games now and i have a blast. In 1 year we won't talk about DbD anymore, it's over guys. As the OP is saying, you should all move on.

  • Killers have started to leave massively since the SBMM release.

I haven't play for months now as the new boon totems combined with the SBMM made the game unenjoyable, and pretty much unplayable, at a good MMR for killers.

Also, when i was playing survivor, at start it was good, i was facing competent killers but the last weeks i have played, i was facing mostly noobs even though i was winning all my games. My MMR kept increasing, as i barely lost but still the killers were incompetent.

    1. competent killers have already massively deserted the game
    2. average to bad killers will continue the desertion with this last update
    3. last "roadmap" announcement is garbage as there is not a single word about the needed killer balance for the game

DbD has always been survivor sided but now it is extremely survivor sided at good level. My friends and i have stopped to play this game and we don't want to come back at all. One friend is playing from time to time, rarely, and everytime she plays she tells me DbD is a garbage game now.

I have 2k hours into the game, my friends all have between 1k and 4k hours... We were huge fans, but now BHVR, you can GTFO, we won't accept your bs choices anymore.

  • We made it guys !

Game's population is continuing to decrease, months after months even though there were huge DLC the last months : Hellraiser, Artist, SBMM, Boons introduction and a Halloween and Christmas Event + a free week-end.

And we made it. For two years straight, DbD has never have a 24h peak players under 50k, and i personally knew that the introduction of SBMM and CoH would slowly but surely kill the game and predicted on this forum a few months ago that DbD would have a peak playerbase under 50k before 2022.

Well i was wrong as it has happened yesterday... out of timing Jean, what were you thinking huh ?

    image.png

BHVR that hopes Ringu will save DbD's last breathes... It's over, i have read the huge future update notes and haven't seen anything to balance the game. I have seen new survivors' buffs, especially the fact that a communication system will be implemented that killers will now have to deal with a SWF level of information in every trials they play. 😂

The dev team is worried cause they have seen a 15% difference in wins between soloQ and SWF 😂

But not a single word on how terrible the killer gameplay is, not a single word on the 1 kill ratio at high MMR, not a single word on the "we need to proxy camp/tunnel every game to try to get a draw" 😂

I don't want to be mean but you guys should release new cool skins to get as much money as you can from fan boys and girls cause soon DbD won't exist anymore.

I've just been having these thoughts for some time now, and I even had them last year before I quit playing until July of this year.

It has been years that many players here have stated that the game is boring and frustrating. Many call it gen simulator or camp/tunnel fest.

Dunno why some ppl say you came to this conclusion after looking a video... we all agree about the terrible DbD state.

Check at Propnight, it's DbD without the broken stuff, really.

  • The problem in DbD is that you never have the possibility to pressure gen unless if you get a 3 gens situation at the end of the trial.

If you don't get it, you are never able to pressure the gens, maps are too big, layout is all the time broken...

I have seen all my favorite killer mains drop the torch with killer and it is sad. Why must you make this game SO one sided. It makes 0 sense. You say you want both sides to have fun but there is no such fun at high level for killer. You've gone and destroyed this game.

    Number of players :

    image.png

    Number of viewers :

Game is pretty much dying. I was a huge fan of DbD, played 2000 hours for 4 years straight but since i moved on Propnight, i do not play Dbd anymore.

DbD cannot compete, Propnight is way funnier either you play teens or killer. And BHVR cannot compete with FNTASTIC, they release so many patches to fix bugs, balance and release new content.

I'm sad that DbD took this direction as honestly the Ringu announcement does hype me but the state of the game is really terrible for me to continue to play.

DbD became a camp/tunnel sweat fest where killers cannot win anymore if they play fair at average+/high level. How does BHVR doesn't fix anything while it has been years every good players agree on "the game is way too survivor sided"... CoH and SBMM have made everything worst.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

Usually we get stats every so often, now mmr is a thing I really wanna see which killers are picked and their kill rates at each mmr bracket (low, mid, high mmr)

I honestly dont want the stats jumbled up hiding stats for each level of play.

Also hackers are still a problem. Fix it.

Never as it would show how unbalanced the game is atm.

You will never get such a stat.

Same, they could release the camp/tunnel (first survivor died with under 8k points for exemple) stats but will never do it as it would be 80% of the trials.

Haven't touch DbD for 2 weeks and moved on 2 other games, feeling great and not frustrated once since :).

    I disagree.

If that were the case, I'd be getting weird Killers too.

And I am, but not that often. More often than not they have over 1K hours.

If this were an issue with Killers leaving, you'd expect to see low-MMR Killer and high-MMR Survivors.

The killer i face also have 1000h+ but they are bad...

Someone: My team mates are not of the same skill as me

    You: Killer good survivor bad.

Not really, queue times as a high MMR survivor are insanely long as there are no killer playing anymore. Players are bored so BHVR tweaked the matchmaking to match players with diffrent skill level together, resulting in facing average killers and being matched with bad survivors (for the MMR numbers of both sides to match) = my team mates are not of the same skill as me + killer is bad aswell.

You can explain the MM changes by the lack of good killers.

    Exemple :

You are a 2000 MMR survivor soloQ.

MM cannot find a 2000 MMR killer. MM has then found a 1300 MMR killer, then it is looking for survivors to achieve an average of 1300 MMR for the survivors team. You end up with survivors that have those skill numbers : 700, 900, 1600.

Trial is totally unbalanced and it explains why this discussion exists.

How do you know who is "high MMR" and who isnt? You dont.

I'd like to think I'm not exactly low MMR, since I'm at 5k+ hours and I'm devotion 23, and my survivor q times have always been instant during the day, and killer instant at night. That has not changed at all.

I'm not getting bad killers, in fact I'm mostly going against nurses and blights with 1k+ hours. This in crossplay off on pc, where everyone is way more sweaty.

I know if i'm facing a killer that knows how to lay or not and most of the time they are terrible. Once in a while i will face a killer main streamer and still the trial is totally not balanced...

Just had another match where my teammates had just under 5 days COMBINED.

    Fantastic.

The community has asked for killers nerfs/survivors buffs for years, devs have listened to them, high skilled killers have massively left.

All killers i face are barely average now, escaping like 80% of my trials.

Survivors queue times have increased a lot at high MMR, BHVR is trying to find some solutions to it but cannot find something good.

That's what DbD became, a massive joke with devs unable to fix it.

Sad when i see some other independent small companies putting a ton of awesome work on their games : GTFO (game became awesome with rundown 6), Propnight (10 patches with many improvement on many aspects in 2 weeks), A Long Dark (well awesome game now), Don't Starve Together (many changes and rework every 2 or 3 months), Hell let loose (same but with performances issues unfortunately)...

How do those devs are able to do it and not BHVR that has 10 times more means ? It's time for this community to become more demanding.

Maybe you should look up those videos again, cause thats not complaining, thats discussing (some of them are even not relevant cause of ptb "issues") and many times they just come to the conclusion thats its not an issue to complain about.

They come to the conclusion that the game is broken but obviously you hear whatever you want to hear. :)

Whatever, survivors queue times are 10 minutes long and most killers are total babies, i escape 80% of the time and there are 3 escapes+ like 90% of the time in the trial i play as a survivor.

But hey, everything is okay right ? MMR is perfect, boon totems are not even strong enough to be discussed about and the game is greatly balanced.

You might be a really bad player to think that the game is in a good state cause if everything looks fine for you, it means you are not good enough to see how broken it is.

Maybe you think there are not too many pallets/loops on most maps right ? You should level up then, really as there are enough pallets/windows/loop to juke the killer for 15 minutes while you just need 7 minutes to do all gens.

1st video = the game is not fun anymore

2nd video = items are way too strong

3rd video = boons are too strong in their current state and need changes

4th video = healing with boons is way too strong and "holy ######### the perk is broken"

5th video = boons are broken, healing items are even even more broken, global healing speed is broken

You should look the videos again cause at that point you are just a troll.

delusionnal. Sure. I dont know what high MMR killers you know that complain about soo much non-issues, but all those streamers in high mmr i know dont complain about such things at all. be honest youre cpmpletely biased here.

They all complain about SBMM, boons and strong loops + map designs, all of them.

From Scott jund to Otz to Truetalent and Lilith. You clearly do not look any streamers a they often talk about those issues.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5KjhbxVZrs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7RkW1dw5BM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5arehrQ8No https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS-VhpJJMgg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVqTEWnG0zg

Everything is broken in this game, the balance is completely off on most features, no way to enjoy anything as it is always unfair...

  • @Tiufal said:

Its kinda hilarious how much killer players complain about basicly everything, AND neglecting everything that works in their favour. the game isnt supposed to be a stomping simulator for killers. if you get a 2k that more than fair enough for everyone. and thats more than easy to handle as killer, even without playing like a jerk. but lets get through ypur complains:

    1. hexes are the same side for killers.
    2. maps work also in favour of killers.
    3. works also for survivors.
    4. its basically impossible to not spawn near a gen, otherwise maps would be far bigger, but than youre complaining again i guess.
    5. rare edge cases, but in general not that much of an issue at all.
    6. fake news
    7. killer sided maps are there too, but that doesnt count, right? lol
    8. what loops? TL Wall too strong now? lol despite some edge cases with loop chains, not an issue at all.
    9. so fair hits are an issue now? HILARIOUS
    10. if you cant play vs DH thats still your fault
    11. like multiple easy game perks on killer?
    12. yeah sorry for not hooktrading with you for easy downs after still hanging around the hook lol
    13. who cares? doesnt hurt anyones gameplay at all. learn to ignore it.

    Bad faith here, clearly.

    1. hexes are not the same as there are 4 survivors with 3rd person POV to deal with them
    2. Only a few maps work also in favour of killers and still the unbalance is nowhere near Haddonfield for exemple
    3. once again, 4 survviors with 3rd POV to deal with it
    4. Ok for this one
    5. SWF is a problem but at high MMR, SWF or not, you still face 4 unbeatable survivors
    6. Ye the "fake news" disease... Shack + most of the time you have a window/pallet jungle gym or shack combined with a safe loop
    7. killer sided maps are there too but the balance is not off as it is on Haddonfield, The game, the new map etc...
    8. All safe loops are too storng if you play a basic M1 killer...
    9. agree on this one, HV is normal
    10. DH on 4 survivors is game changer, you clearly do not play killer at all
    11. nope there aren't any broken killer perks while survivors have ton of OP perks and they can all equip them
    12. agree on this one
    13. then learn to ignore camping and tunneling as you will get this in every trial pretty soon

You are clearly delusionnal and obviously you do not play killer at a high level. Every killer players are complaining about the state of the game.

You don't want to admit something is wrong ? Enjoy you 15min queues to end up facing a baby or a camper/tunneler, great game.

  • Do as Mathieu Coté has said a few years ago : "Play something else"

And you are lucky, another asymmetrical game has just been released, try it.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

Now I dont want to have this but at this point it's kind of forced. With alot of tiles becoming safe, bad map designs and mmr the only killers that have a chance are the anti loop ones and even then they can be at a disadvantage.

While I love killers like legion, GF etc. They arent capable of doing well at my level so I just cant play them and have fun.

Loops and maps need an overhaul. Less safe pallets and fairer loops then nerf the over performing killers. At the moment most killers lose maybe that's just the level I'm playing at but I have yet to verse a killer who isnt the top tier ones have a chance.

I have not seen 80% of the roster in a month.... A MONTH.

5 years the community is asking for balance changes. We got some small changes but none has been big enough to balance the game. Only a complete maps overhaul with, as you have said, less loops, standard size for every map etc... will fix the problem.

Also, unfun mechanics must be removed, camping, tunneling and 4 survivors with the exact same perks should disappear from the game.

But guess what, it will never happen and DbD will worsen every month as the community will continue to abuse broken things, removing the fun for all players.

  • @Katzengott said:

From a rational point of view, tunneling (and i mean REALLY tunneling) one survivor early out of the game is still the most efficient tactic a killer can do to get a 4k. If you manage to find the weakest link of the team early, thats even better. There are only 4 problems: DS, Unbreakable, Boons and bodyblocking teammates. DS has obv the biggest impact, it's just a guessing game if they have the perk or not.

Gens will fly anyway in high MMR, so there's nothing wrong with both sides playing there objectives effectively. Survivors tunnel gens, Killer tunnels Survivors - It is what it is. Many survs will call you a camper / tunneler anyway, regardless how you play. So why not just do it. When it happens to me as surv, i'm more mad of my team not doing gens.

To summarize it : game design is garbage and players are trying to adapt using garbage mechanics to win. Fun is reduced to 0 for both sides but BHVR is happy about it.

Tbf, VHS has been in development since dbd came out. I assume that if dbd were to be released now it would have some or majority of perks they have in the game currently. At this point I hope vhs takes majority of dbd player base so that it forces them to actually put some work into anything but new chapters.

BHVR will never be able to make DbD good again. It's not a lack of work or anything, it's just that they don't know how to balance the game :

    • they don't know how to design maps
    • they don't know how to design perks
    • they don't know what is OP or UP in the game
    • they don't know how to do a proper matchmaking

That's the main problems, 5 years out and still they haven't a clue of what is good and bad for the game. Some exemples :

    • Boon totems, especially CoH but we could go with NOED, Devour Hope, DS/BT/DH + fact that everyone can equip the exact same perk = no variety
    • Terrible SBMM which is in fact a KBMM
    • Too many pallets/windows
    • Terribly unbalanced maps
    • Terrible and boring killer design for most of them, honestly, only Blight/Nurse/Pinhead/Huntress/Trapper/Artist/Billy are original, everything else is M1 with some dumb power or another version of the same killer

Well i don't know how some of you guys are still playing everyday... i cannot play more than 4 games without being bored/frustrated to death.

I understand that I just told you I primarily play slinger I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same

We all have 10 min queues minimum in the evening. And seeing the state of the game, it will get worst with time.

Good killers have left as the game is totally unbalanced. Remaining killers are mostly babies and camper/tunneler. Both will stop to play killer pretty soon :

    • Babies are experiencing the unbalance of the game, getting bullied by average+ survivors
    • Camper/tunneler will stop as this gameplay is just boring, you cannot play like this 4 hours a day everyday for months

So expect 20/30 min queue times in 3 months.

  • @anarchy753 said:

Yeah I'm sure BHVR are just scrambling to see what they can learn from the game with an all time peak of 3k players.

A game that is funnier and way more balanced than DbD where you have close game all the time when both sides are good.

And a game where survivors can clutch thanks to a great mechanics for it.

BHVR has actually a lot to learn from Propnight. Got 25 hours in (1700h in DbD) and i'm amazed by how good the game is...

    • teens have a money/time management aspect
    • teamplay is at the same level than DbD
    • mindgame with the killer is better and in 2v1 or 1v1 it is incredibly good
    • teens rely on items that they can buy through chest, none of them is OP as you cannot spam them or have too many of them
    • maps are great, not too big, not too small, and there arent a ton of pallets.'Also teens cannot run all the time and have to manage sprint/prop during chases. Only the farm map is teens sided but i'm sure they will address it
    • balance is great thanks to good maps and to the teens heal management, impossible to heal unless you have a medkit, without medkit you recover heal slowly till 70 hp
    • kindred/BT built in the game
    • community is respectful, mostly mature and there is almost no camper/tunneler
    • performances are great

And devs are listening to the community and are really reactive. 6 patches in 10 days with balance changes, a new map, bug/performances fix/improvement etc...

Sorry but BHVR should be ashamed that they have not been able to provide any of this for 5 years while they earn millions of dollars monthly with DbD.

As a reminder, BHVR earner 124 millions of dollars in 2020 while they have only DbD running... it is around 200k$ per employee... So where are the fixes and changes we have asked for 5 years ?

  • @DeadByStreetlight said:

I like that you can build weapons or useful gadgets in VHS. Ok we have chests and there is Leon's flashbang perk but it's odd how to do it.

There should be more interactvie elements on the map with a new skin. There are everytime the same gens, the same hooks, the same totems, the same lockers and the the same pallets which is fun but not different enough.

The Doctor could have chairs like the "hooks" in propnight. The gens could have different skins. I mean why there are on every map the same gens? What is the story behind?

I wish it would be more adventure like: first we need to get in the house, then we need to find something, then we need to discover or summon the exit. And finally we can open the exit. Something like this.

The Killers should also have new objectives but not just neverending boon totems. There should be a little quest which is only active when a survivor get hooked. Preparing a random trap on the map, barricade ways (this could be also nice as objective or ability for survivor). Maybe that gives the killer another reason to leave the hook instead camping.

I really like that the game looks like a painted picture, but i think the maps should have more props which are filying around when you collidate with them.

How would you improve the game?

From my experience on Propnight :

    • RNG is way better than in DbD, you get stuff with the money you earn, changing some encounters with the monster but without unbalancing the game
    • Game is greatly balanced once everyone know how to play properly, killers have everything they need to chase and win, survivors can escape and help each others to survive but nothing is broken
    • Fun, the game is fun, with many troll aspects and it is cute
    • Voice chat prevent bad behaviors from players as they know they are facing a human...
    • Way less frustrating for killers, there aren't 2000 pallets/doors and items are limited
    • Better reactivity from devs, they did many fixes, added a map, improved performances, tweaked the balance in 6 days... 5 patches

Honestly, i have a blast with Propnight, the same fun i have had with DbD from 2017 to 2019 or something :)

Considering I don't and never have paid attention to the "huge DbD Streamers" doesn't really matter to me. The streamers I watch and support all still enjoy the game, or they wouldn't be playing.

Well, a streamer is forced to play the game... especially when they have 50+ viewers, they earn money doing so and would loose their viewers and money if they stopped playing.

Only huge streamers with tons of viewers can stop unless they have a deal with the company or something.

Dbd became a sweat fest and lost all the casual aspect that made it so good.

Before SBMM you could loose but still win a pip if you have played well. Now even if you played really well, if you die or don't get 3k, you loose MMR and play with/against potatoes.

Game has now a competitive mindset with a completely casual gameplay relying on RNG and a broken matchmaking + rewarding too much camping/tunneling... Well i do not see the fun about it.

FYI Pinhead was released in September and they just did a balance pass on him on this last patch three months later, tweaking a bunch of his add-ons and fixing Chain Hunt hitting survivors solving the box. (Nurse was released long before they implemented their current testing schedule, FYI.)

Yes but they just buffed nurse 1 month ago. Pinhead has been nerf while he is not strong at all, just strong against unorganized team. It proves that BHVR doesn't understand its own game.

They use stats without analyzing them to implement changes.

They move Dbd toward a competitive game (SBMM) but in the same time they do casual changes... (nurse buff for casual players, Pinhead buffs for casual players aswell).

1 … 4 5 6 7
