Yeah this game fries my mid-range CPU recently at anything above 1080p how do console players stand this dog level of optimization?

Many of us consolers don't, and have either left the game completely or else play very little like me. Especially us still toiling away on the prior gen machines.

If the next RE chapter is anywhere as destructive as Nemmy's release many more will go too. For the past year plus I've lived in fear that the next update will be the one to finish us off for good. Not a joyous feeling at all.

The largest thread ever on this forum goes into detail of the optimization issues of DBD and game performance on console in particular. Sadly precious little good has come from it. @Pulsar you're more or less Console Boss here anything to add?

The perk is absolutely busted, and i see it nonstop in high rank games. Atleast 2 survivors are always using it.

The bonuses it gives are too high, 30% faster gen repair for being next to a survivor as the only requirement? That's like Reverse hex pentimento with no real condition to use it. Absolutely braindead design by the devs.

BHVR has absolutely no awareness of their own game or how dumb some perks are. It's not even funny how fast gens get repaired because of it. This game is not going to last like this, please nerf the bonus from 15% to 5% which is appropriate.

I thought all PTS did was compensate for the multi-survs on the same gen penalty?

    Besides the bloodpoint bonus.

  • Y'all remember toolboxes from like two or three years ago? Back then a Commodious lasted all week, with Built to Last in the distant future, and BNP actually was overpowered af. Be glad those boxes are gone.

As others have mentioned Medkits are the greater threat, the spawns of survs and gens need tweaking, and maps continually need revamping. Those all need looking at before the boxes do imo.

They converted their horrible blueprint code into C++. It's still the same horrible code, just now in C++.

    Yikes!

  • @kizuati said:

According to the devs, this game is CPU-Bound. However I'm still seeing a 100% GPU utilization at Medium-Low setting at 100% resolution or auto-adjust on PC with my 3080. Constant dips of my 99% FPS which makes the game feel EXTREMELY laggy capped because it legit stutters like that every 3-7 seconds and with 120 it at least drops to 63-75 FPS instead of 22-34 FPS.

Something tells me this game is still blueprint code which is just really bad. Who would've guessed.

My frames drop I to the teens sometimes. The middle room of Lery's is notorious for this, especially against Freddy or Nemesis. I thought they recoded the game into C+++ a long while back?

I find Trickster far more challenging with the controller, though neither is fun to me. However I've seen some consolers play Blight pretty well. I believe the trick is to use his power more for rapid movement rather than in chase. For the sick flicks and such gotta run him on PC apparently.

Yeah, the mods asked us not to post links to it though since it uses Steam API to grab endgame data from players who opt into that and DbD doesn’t officially support Steam API. They don’t seem to mind me posting statistics from it though. 🙂

So those stats are just players on PC that are using Steam and who also opted in? Seems like too small a sample size to me.

    Easy fix: Play on PC.

Not a valid solution. Remember there's no Cross Progression, so even if we could afford a decent PC that can handle DBD we'd also have to rebuy the game, the dlc's, and any wanted cosmetics. And then comes the best part: releveling all characters from scratch. You know the grind of this game, no matter what changes have been made recently.

They could, and I'm just spitballing wildly here, maybe better optimize their game for us all. And as @Pulsar mentioned those 60 frames would come in clutch with this upcoming update...

I don't know how hard it is to program a working anti cheat for a game but this game is one of the worst I know in that category. It's so easy to hack and we have a hacker wave right now that isn't getting better but just worse with every week.

I want to play a video game and not being hold hostage by a virgin that lives in there grandmothers basement getting a erection everytime he is able to down everyone with one Buttonpress.

When a company as big as bhvr is not able to hire people who program a better anti cheat in a short time then at least remove the Penalty so we don't have to deal with these things

While I agree the hacking cheating players are a problem, turning off the dc penalties is not the solution. Every time they have to disable it the amount of petty dc's for the slightest thing in either role increases very badly, making the game almost unbearable.

For me Hag has been allll over the place in terms of her TP being delayed by a second or two even if I'm spamming the button . Also her basic attack has been really off too. I missed 7 shots in a match yesterday that I know should have hit

I play on Xbox1, and for me Hag has always had a half-second delay when teleporting & swinging. This leads to many a missed attack, and I imagine is a big part of why few on console run her.

If our PC cousins are now also experiencing this, that's a sad state of affairs game performance-wise.

  • This wouldn't be yet another thingamabob us consolers cannot ever use, would it?

  • @killerstar said:

    INTRO

I think we can all agree that DBD has the most stupid reporting system of any big game (atleast top 20 viewed twitch games).

I have seen Otz report someone he did:

    1. Ingame report
    2. openes steam
    3. searched for true steam ID, because it was modified
    4. wrote a ticket to bhvr
    5. gave video and steam ID as reference

Pretty sure 99% of use are not streaming so we dont record our games...

    QUESTION

If I see someone hacking (like I saw the last few days) who are from EPIC/Microsoft Store I dont see their steam ID or EPIC Id or anything, so it means ONLY the ingame report is left.

My Question: Is it enough to report ingame?

    ANSWER and My experience

No. It does nothing. I saved account data of steam users who really hacked, and I mean not "i think the had WH" NO! I mean gens popped at once, the person would fly or people who exploited bugs like climbing up stuff my melee killer cant get to and the tbag.

None of these accounts I saved are banned jet. If you ever wondered if it does something: its not working. I AM THE PROOF! I dont care if a mod or a dev would come here and tell "well it actually works...blablabla" no it doesn't! This people are not banned.

And as you can see people who cheat from Epic or Windows store are even impossible to report via ticket because they can just change their name, that makes them unbannable by report.

What I do to play as little as possible vs cheater

    1) dont play against a person with a vac ban. Even if they cheated in an other game they are cheaters! Cheaters will always cheat, they dont change! I know some cheaters personaly (not in dbd) and they may try to play normal but after a few bad games they would activate cheats to feel better again. Its like having a superpower but not being allowed to use it. If you have seen the series "the boys" superpowers corrupt people, and cheaters are very corrupted.

    2) dont play against crossplay people who have dbd related and aggressive names. Those people created their account with DBD in mind and its purpose might be malicious. I would not risk it.

    3) play against swfs. people would not often play together with cheaters because of two reasons: the fear they can be banned for cooperation and most important its difficult to pip and get BPs with a cheater in team. So funnily SWFs are often safer to go against (but I not impossible, I have an account saved who was a cheater in SWF, his friends were dening that they know him in post game evenough they are steam friends. he is not banned)

    WHAT BHVR NEEDS to do

    Please Hardware ban cheaters!

Pls give us replay button so we can send you a game file instead of a recording.

I hate cheaters but i will NOT record my games! never going to happen! If BHVR pays me money I will record my games but for free I will not do it.

I play on Xbox and cannot even see things like Steam IDs or previous bans at all. Plus I believe they said they would have had to include saving game footage in the original coding, so it's too late now.

Pretty sure no one is satisfied with the current reporting system.

They do this back and forth thing while running that makes my camera shake and the aim dressing activates.

Ah yes, the butt-wiggles. I find it best not to lunge just swing, but it doesn't always work. In tight spaces that aim dressing gets very confused sometimes and I'm hitting trees or boxes or walls, anything but a surv.

But they expected SWF to be using voice chat. If they didn't want that they could have just added SWF and made it so there is no lobby where you can check who you are going into the game with.

That the game isn't balanced properly around voice chat and that there are still perks being created that are dead on arrival (example: Empathic Connection, almost completely useless if you are on voice chat) is a separate issue.

The devs set the rules of the game

In code. Do you see voice comms in the base game? no. You use Discord.

SWF using voice comms is cheating, SWF is just unfair but not totally broken, can be tolerated. Voice comms is cheating.

People already tune nvidia settings, also "stretched resolution" was a thing too. Clearly nothing to do with "The Rules of The Game".

I'll have you know I've never used Discord while playing DBD. Might have something to do with being on console though. Also no filters either.

But as many here have told you, the devs do not consider use of comms cheating. And saying otherwise here and elsewhere is very much spreading misinformation around.

You consider SWF and comms together unfair and a cheat, but the devs do not. And SWF was always intended just not ready at launch. Believe these things or not, the misinformation your are propagating needs to stop.

    I give you one:

Playing as SoloQ gives you X% extra Bloodpoints, same as less played side reward on the future patch. More BP, X2-3 experience that allows them to have more Iri Shards, for example.

Nerfing SWF to the ground ¿How? Really Easy, Making impossible to repeat perks if you are playing on a group. Not 4xDS - UB - DH - IW anymore (Or the new meta build, it doesn´t matter). Don´t let them equip items with more than Yellow Quality if they are on group. Do not allow SWF to use Map offerings.

Mark on killers lobby if they are premade or not, and how many are on the same group. Or just separate queues as solo or swf

"This will kill SWF". Yes, that is the idea, this game is not designed to being played by 4 friends on comms, and if they are not going to prohibe it or nerf it , at least let killers choose if they want to play against SWF or not, if you can choose your team as survivor, I have the right to know if you are on group and decide if I want to play an unbalanced match or queue again looking for chill matches.

SWF is the can.... of DBD.

You want to actively kill off SWF? When they last put out such stats way back in 2019, about half of all survs we're in at least a two-man group. With solo queue being just so delightful since that time, and getting better with each update, I have to believe those playing in a SWF must have grown a lot. It's simply too late now to crush this mode, or to separate it.

As far as indicating a SWF in the lobby, darn near all killers, including me, would dodge them into oblivion. They'd never get a match.

That notion prolly made you smile, but think it through: besides those groups sitting forever, the matchmaking is trashed with each dodge, helping no one especially newer players thrown in because off this.

They won't split the playerbase this way, they won't clamp down with strange tourney rules & limitations, and they can't do squat about comms. Your idea about bp bonuses and even shards I love, hopefully they do something like that.

And on a much more serious note, I hope that last sentence doesn't refer to anything that rhymes with "sir"...

  • Spotty optimization from the get go, and terrible on console in particular.

    こんにちは。

I remember this "DC husk" feature that was revealed to be under development three years ago.

Attached is a citation for that information that was actually published.

    DEVELOPER UPDATE, JUNE/JULY 2019.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/73858/developer-update-june-july-2019

This also gives us an opportunity to strengthen the way we handle disconnections. Survivors who disconnect from a match will leave a “husk” behind. The Killer can then hook and sacrifice this husk to receive the points- and perk tokens where applicable- that they would have earned had the Survivor continued playing. Additionally, the other Survivors in the match will receive a quitter bonus to compensate for losing a teammate. Should a Killer disconnect, the match will immediately end, and the remaining Survivors will receive emblem points assuming they had healed and escaped the trial, keeping any items and add-ons they have equipped. Any offerings used will be refunded if the match is cancelled shortly after starting.

Just recently I saw a discussion about not being able to activate the Blood Warden due to a player who had DC.

This citation explains how this feature would allow us to acquire park tokens, i.e., BBQs and STBFLs, that we cannot acquire due to selfish DC players.

(Though BBQ will no longer get BP bonus tokens with the next update before this feature is implemented.)

While we are aiming to have this new system launch at the same time as dedicated servers, we may need to hold off until the following mid-chapter patch. We will keep you posted on our progress as soon as we have more info to share. For the time being, we will continue punishing excessive disconnectors using our existing system.

It has been a long time since dedicated servers were implemented and a long time since the next chapter patch when dedicated servers were implemented.

    Three years in fact.

Developers, do you have any information you can share on this?

I have a feeling that no information has been shared on this in the last 3 years, if I remember correctly.

If there is no information to share, I would surely be pleased if the answer is "no information to share".

Because in the Q&A's over the past three years, I have asked several times if there is any information that can be disclosed about this "DC husk system" and it has never been addressed.

This Q&A includes some stuff unique to the official Japanese Twitter feed.

If there is any reaction from the developer's side, I would be really happy.

If no reaction, I may ask the same question in the next Q&A. Or in some cases, the next one, and the next one after that.

They also said in 2019 they're going to get this game running at 60fps across all platforms. Still waiting for that as well.

  • Also keep in mind if there's a single instance of a lobby dodge, be it a surv or the killer, backfilling that void ignores MMR to keep queue times lower.

We're doing it to ourselves with the all the dodging, mates.

Im about 99% sure its they refuse to put effort into a system to differentiate it. As i said all it would take is some basic coding to implement something to differentiate the two. Unless they have something that i am unaware of in place. Which i seriously doubt.

I don't know diddly squat about coding, so I don't know what is possible or just difficult. But from what I've seen of the Dev's trends over the years i do not see them investing time into such a project either.

The current penalty system imo is prolly as good as we're going to get with DBD, given their somewhat unstable game combined with peeps noping out of a match for less than stellar reasons.

  • @ArchAbhor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3054390#Comment_3054390

That is just not true. Theres a button trigger for it. A crash doesnt cross that check. If theres not a built in check for it yet. Its not hard to program in. They have one for are you sure about that? They can have one with a strict timeout.

I'm pretty sure they've said several times they cannot differentiate between a lost connection (for whatever cause) and an intentional quit, so obviously aren't tracking them.

Whether they can add such a tracker I do not know, or if so when it's planned. @MandyTalk could you or another mod clarify?

  • @lonewolf8376 said:

I feel like with the amount of maps that are very survivor safe and the fact that u can just offer them to gain a competitive advantage is not healthy at all, I guess im venting because my last 7 games in a row was 2 Erie, 2 the game, 1 ormand, Garden of pain, and Badham, if devs aren’t willing to get rid of them can ya at least make Sacrificial wards like a yellow offering or something

The map offerings themselves aren't the problem. It's more an indicator of unbalance on certain maps, so ditching those offerings would only be a bandaid fix imo.

Also there are map-dependant killer builds that folks like to run.

I saw someone mention this in another thread, and after my games today- I’m starting to think this is pretty accurate. Some of my worst games of the day have been when the original killer leaves after seeing me with a map or the latest cosmetic (while teammates have old or default skins), then when the match starts with the “new” killer, he’s waaay out of our league. Then when I play killer and come into a lobby with 4 players all already qued up, it’s a miserable time.

Yeah and like I said, we are doing it to ourselves with the dodging, sadly.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/333151/strongest-part-of-blight-is-abusing-dpi-slide-mechanics-yet-console-players-are-being-left-behind

As long as consoles are limited to controllers they are gonna be at disadvantage compared to pc. There is no way to limit mouse and keyboard to do only thing that controllers can without making the game super clunky to play on pc. We should hope they add mouse and keyboard support for consoles as well to even the playingfield.

Sadly they've said several times they have no plans to add M&K support for the consoles. Was brought up again during their last Q&A, and shot down again.

This is prolly why other changes to console Blight are being tossed about here.

  • I think you are asking about Cross Progression, in this case between Steam and Xbox I think. The devs know it's wanted badly by the community, and have stated that they are still working on it. But they have to come up with an agreement the console makers also find acceptable.

Imo it ain't ever coming, sadly

It means there is a problem and a serious problem. killers don't want to play against swf. so it is necessary to strengthen the solo queue and weaken the swf. everyone should be on an equal footing.

If we're truly after equal footing, this game would be much better optimized for my dang Xbox.! ;)

Here's the problem as I see it: they will not separate the queues; they will not impose strange tourney rules on SWF, nor debuff them with penalties to repair etc: they won't show SWF in the lobby to prevent further dodging than already occurs; and no in-game chat either.

If we accept all that won't happen, what's left to be done? The devs seem to be aiming to raise the lot of solo survs closer to SWF level of possible coordination and info.
