Did I say it's optimized for console ?
As far as I can tell it isn't well optimized for any platform, and only the brute force of the strongest machines can power through.

I'm using a decent pc with every map working flawlessly no performance issues but since the new map is live I'm getting it too much and its unplayable.. so much fps drops and stuttering I hardly can play chases in both roles the mist is too much it's killing performance I never had such bad performance in DBD before at high settings and medium settings still the same stuttering and constant fps drops.
Also heard console players are having same problems with it.
Console DBD is questionably optimized? No way! @Pulsar have you heard this revelation?
Someone should do a study...

I'm not sure how coherent the data you'd get would be if you removed perks from both ends, though. You can't tell how much the absence of an overused perk affects win rates when you're also removing common tools from the other side.
That said... I dunno. We've lived with Dead Hard for six years, I think we can handle another few months. People are acting like it's way more urgent than it is.
The urgency started when the hit validation cured most of the exhausted on the ground problems, so usage increased even further and survs got a little better at using it. This of course increased killer's frustration with so strong a perk.

Game 1: killer disconnect early in match, where they were playing relatively well.
Game 2: loading screen dc.
Game 3: Killer disconnects seconds into the game.
1. Prolly connection lagged out
2. Prolly connection lagged out, or maybe someone disliked an offering
3. Killer disliked the map

How do I get 60 frames in this game?

@nikodemo said:
i understand that, for sure. and i only want the best for the team. but after 9 months, it's getting hard to wait, especially with a competitor out there.
I play DBD on an Xbox1x. Believe me I know the pain of waiting for years for improvements and a proper optimization, as well as the agony of goals not met and timetables wreaked.
I hope whatever setup y'all are pushing for doesn't give ya 10-15 fps in the middle room of Lery's when lots is happening in-game, or a second or two freeze whenever Sloppy Butcher is activated, or dozens of other known triggers talked about all over this forum and elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure everyone playing killer is tired of having frustrating games against a swf. So I think swfs needs a debuff for their perks. If people want to play with their friends and just bully or try harding against killers they will get their perks nerf. If they have level 3 perks and they wanted to be in a swf then their perks will be as strong as level 1 perks. This should be a thing
Won't happen. From the course the devs have been on for a while now, they aim to raise the possible info & coordination capabilities of solo play to that of SWF levels. After that they'll rebalance the killers around that new state of affairs, with the end goal of it not mattering much which way you play surv.
So they're not looking to impose any debuffs and limitations to SWF, or other crazy "tourney" rules.

The wait is really becoming unbearable. It's been 9 months since this feature was added to EAC.
The more they wait the more I'm just going to tell people to go play VHS since it works now.
Please at least announce it with a time line.
The devs are usually quite vague when it comes to nailed-down timelines, preferring to leave things loose, and even mute if there's no update.
This is likely because of how badly the community has roasted them here and elsewhere for not meeting a deadline when something happens to delay.

not on pc for sure , because video filters exist , but am worried about console players not being able to see almost nothing on darker maps because BHVR still doesnt add a proper bright slider into the game.
What's the point of a power that some players will "filter away" while many on console cannot and will not be able to see...

What about just 2 killers and a larger map with 1 additional player? The idea is that killers don't get to play with anyone and the ability in any form would be nice.
I get the idea, just might have to wait for DBD2 for these modes is all I'm saying.

Nightmare mode would be the only way for killers to play with other killers. It would basically be a double-game, maybe with one oversized map for starters.
This would include 2 killers, 8 players, 10 gens to be completed, 2 basements 3 exits and 1 hatch. (Possibly the same amount of hooks but they are now double-hooks)
One killer cannot benefit from the other killer's perks (ex: A killer who has BBQ enabled would not automatically allow the other killer to take advantage of this and now see the survivors after hooking)
One survivor's perks would only be visible to 4 others and not the entire team of 8.
Some gens must start off locked for the first minute or two.
What else would this game mode include? 😊
While they were developing Nemesis they toyed with an Add-on to include a third zombie, but it hurt game performance so bad they scrapped the idea and changed the Add-on. No doubt they test internally on badass computers too.
So how in the world could their coding support and run well two killers & all their assets, eight survs, something like 15 gens, three exit gates, and entity knows what else? Lower end PCs and all the consoles would run this mode so badly, and our Switch cousins would prolly watch their machines melt.

Largest playerbase DBD
1. PC
2. Playstation
3. Xbox
4. Switch
I imagine Stadia would be last on that list

I've now had 10 matches in a row with only PC players as a PC player myself. I checked and crossplay is ON. Not sure if this is an incredible stroke of luck or if something is going on. Anybody else notice this?
Edit: I know ps players are down, but Xbox and Switch are still available
Out of all the consoles those on PlayStation are the largest group, so take them away and yes a big hit to the playerbase mix.

Its an app, I won't say the name tho cos that might be against the rules. But it tracks PSN and I think Xbox stats?
No way they can get away with posting console stats like that, breaks all the UEA's and Sony & Microsoft would have sent in their dozens of lawyers ages ago.

it works on xbox too. Played a lotta r6 on console, and ran into my fair share of MnKers there.
Yes I know it works on Xbox with most games, but I seem to remember something still "unsupported" when it came only to DBD. It was like the buttons worked but you could not move or rebind anything. I'll have to comb through old links for it.

What is 'astronomical levels? You can also do it on console. Buy a XIM lol.
I might be mistaken, but last I heard that $250 usd device only allows PlayStations to play this game with a M&K, not Xbox's like mine.

I highly doubt it would happen, unless cross progression is implemented
I know this isnt exactly what you mean by it but im pretty sure xbox and ps let you change names for free at least once? Im a PC player so not really sure
On Xbox I think the first change is free then it costs ya, and then you can do it only once a month.

Watched the first one, the 2nd swing he did was a Normal swing, not a dpi swing,
I can do that without using a dpi flick since you can position the camera to look right while going wide left to make the corner https://clips.twitch.tv/DarkTalentedRaisinPermaSmug-reN08fW8D66byTsH Like so.
the turn at the start is the swing is fast, but with dpi you just quickly turn without looking like you turned at all,
However even then, it's mainly a visual on how quick he turned, it's also down to mainly flicks,
No way I can do that with my controller, even with max sensitivity on my Xbox. The camera does not turn that fast on console.

I agree with this. His recoil itself isn't necessarily the problem, it is the fact that the recoil is random. If it had more of a pattern, it'd be easier to learn how to control.
This is the most crushing part of playing him, the recoil being so very unpredictable, making it impossible to group your shots and hard af to stay on target.
Everything @Bloodshade has posted all over the forum about the drawbacks and limitations of using a controller to play this game as a killer are imo ten times worse when trying to control Trickster.

It doesn't sounds right.
The game knows what happens at every tick. Recording the state/context and checking it requires some work but it isn't rocket science nor should it requires to rewrite things. It should be a kind of parallel system.
I'm not sure nor an expert, but I think whatever would track everything was not included originally, and to add it now apparently is too much work added to an already overflowing plate.
Maybe ask for more technical details if you're really interested? I ain't smart enough to fully get it myself.
-
@drsoontm said:
The servers should keep track of every action of every player, of every progress bar, every perk, movement speed, hook counts, EGC duration ... and check for impossible situations (movement speed, gen speed, wiggle speed, ...)
This would severely curtail what cheaters can do.
It should also check if a survivor slot in a lobby has a killer skin.
I believe in their last Q&A the devs said in order for this to happen they would have had to code the game with this in mind back in 2016, so it's way too late.
The alternative would be a complete recoding if the game from scratch, and while we all would cheer them doing that, prolly won't happen.

Hey BHVR devs,
Would you consider a special ptb event. Provide options for various match settings and functional effects. Give players access in a kyf like mode for feedback on community interests.
Adjustments like:
A causal mode quick join button for solos looking to meet new people in a controlled kyf setting
Base % for gen regression
Base repair speed
Fog intensity
Event items like blight pods, aura collection, and Margarita generators
Test mechanics: searching for generator parts, environmental dangers, pve offerings
# of zombies 😉😉
(Insert idea below) etc.
Just throw it all out there for use and let the community feed you data on the "fun" sweet spots we create.
I think this would do really well in highlighting key features for future development.
How about including the consoles in this too?

Before, you couldn't see anything, it was foggy, almost dreamlike. The cards had a vibe. We were in the Fog.
Now ? Coldwin Farm is in broad daylight.
Same. Miss the green maps, the blue maps, and the night in the corn maps. Miss their atmosphere despite their shortcomings balance-wise. Miss not being able to see clear across the maps.
Prolly one of the major reasons I love the Swamps so much, they're really the last of the old look maps, and I shall greatly miss them when their time comes...

I don't think a survivor should be able to completely stop a killer. Survivors should suffer some sort of knock back or stumble effect for colliding with the killer.
I can totally see Jane or Jeff easily stopping smaller killers like Legion or Amanda dead in their tracks. But DBD doesn't go out of its way to include realistic physics in these cases, so...

Survs bodyblocking for each other is smart teamwork at the cost of health states to protect each other, particularly if one is on death hook, and one of the few plays to directly counter hard tunneling (as opposed to relying on perks).
BT bodyblocking under a hook, while exceedingly annoying, is quite permissable in the rules, and also a direct counter to the prevalence of face camping going on these days.
As pointed out above, there are ways for the killer to counter bodyblocking, with perks, or powers, and also smart game play.
Truth be told, if three or four survs are still alive once the gates are powered, the killer should expect teamwork like bodyblocking to get everyone alive out.
-
Time of day and region certainly plays a big part of this, but often it's is a result of dodging, either killer or survivor.
The current matchmaking gets one single fairish shot at a balanced match, and when a surv or the killer leaves it can grab a newby with less than 100hrs to backfill the hole.
We are actually making the problem worse with all the dodging.
-
They know it's a wanted thing, and they say they are still working on it. But there's no timeframe for it happening, or even a guarantee it'll ever come.
-
8 survivors and two killers (and all their assets) loading into a single map which prolly has 18 gens, 47 lockers and three gates? Just the thought of this is enough to make my console melt...

Y'all just teasing with these proposed nurfs, tickling even. You really want to spice things up with good ol' Pinball Wizard? Make him playable only with a controller.

I used to play on Ps4 and I thought it got fixed. I bypassed the freezes by installing dbd on a SSD and connected it to my ps4. The game ran very good again. Maybe that helps
I play on an Xbox1x, which already comes with a SSD. I believe @Pulsar connected his old Xbox1x to a SSD bought for the purpose of seeing if it made any difference. It did not.

Posting this again for those who missed it a few comments back on this same thread:
The "just get a PC" argument doesn't hold up because there's no Cross Progression (nor is it likely ever coming) and the grind of this game is insane, no matter what changes are coming. Starting over from scratch on all characters after thousands of hours is a deal breaker for most.

How could the devs enforce that? The various comms being used are outside the game and beyond their control...
