Well then... One can wish right
I wasn't intending to squash any dreams, I too wish for some game mode variety.
However I became convinced the notion of two or more killers (plus 8 survs and what something like 13 gens?) is not possible back while they were developing Nemesis.
The story is they toyed with a third zom zom as an Iri add-on, and that hurt game performance so badly they scrapped the idea & changed the add-on. Now I assume they develop using bad-ass PC's, so if they couldn't handle a third zombie on them, what hope is there for my lowly Xbox?
-
For the killer role Trickster is an unholy abomination on console, for a multitude of reasons, and there are threads around which dive into why. The other ranged killers are somewhere in between too painful and unplayable. Nurse is significantly harder to become competent with, as is Blight. Strafing is not really going to happen, no filters or sound cards possible, and flicks are an endangered species too.
Playing surv is not too much different because most use a controller anyway, but the camera doesn't swing as smoothly, the frames will hurt skillchecks & vaulting, and you can run much tighter loops on PC. Plus as others have mentioned the button layout is rough.

I would like to see anything (given time... I guess)
A 2V8
A 1V1 (someone had already mentioned it)
A real Training mode (for new players and for players that haven't played for awhile)
Not a new mode but a new way to play the Game... Needing to complete Gens to open up the map (think of COD Zombies)
A real story mode (someone had already mentioned it)... rifts are ok at this point but we (I) kinda want something more
A no perk mode (rather then getting the ok for it on KYF)
Two killers and all their assets plus eight survs & their gear? No way the consoles or lower-end PC's could possibly run that, not with this coding and optimization.
Imagine throwing in Nemmy and his pair of lost misfits on top of that as well. The Switch machines would instantly melt and ooz onto the floor.

The offerings would be fine if the maps were more balanced, and gave no huge benefit to a role.
That's where the focus should be imo.

If BVHR ever creates "competitive" mode, it should be without perks for anyone and no voice comms on Discord or whatever the app du jour will be. Then we'll find out who is actually worth a sh*t.
How could the devs enforce a comm ban? However players would connect with each other, be it Discord or Xbox Live or whatever, any such app is outside of their control entirely.

Guess I need to do a 1000 winstreak on controller now, with 30 FPS capped!!! That'll prove my points!
Oh no no no, must use the console to fully embrace the 20+ microfreeze triggers as well. And in the center room of Lery's I have cookies waiting for you, plus frame rates dipping into the teens.
Enjoy!

Borrow my Xbox1 and roll out your Nurse! That'll cure ya for sure. Who needs 30fps or flicks anyways...

I don't think the end user agreements have anything to do with why the devs don't release summary charts more often. I think it's just a matter of they don't feel the need to spend time doing it more than one every few months.
I always thought the data collection parts of it that are either always defaulted to off or reset to off on our consoles prevent them from displaying much of what they internally collect, outside of the game itself from the initial porting. But I am very far from being an expert.
Also it might be embarrassing to show console numbers for Nurse & Trickster etc. pick rates and kills and the like. Hard to be proud of no one playing Hag in three years for instance.

The devs will call him "The Edward" I bet...

Nothing quite takes me out of the role of being a homicidal maniac than seeing my machete, hammer, bonesaw, and especially chainsaw, bounce off thin stalks of bamboo like it was made out of concrete. I'm not asking for the ability to destroy loops. Just those annoying objects strewn about the map that serve no purpose other than make playing Bubba more tedious.
It would help make playing killer a little more immersive and be a nice QoL change to killers with powers that can destroy pallets. Since they won't have to comically play around small wooden crates and dead bushes anymore.
Those titanium-infused blades of grass have saved soooooooo many survs over the years from my knives, chainsaws, clubs, back-scratchers, pipes, foul language, candlesticks, nose-pickers, drill bits, musket-butts, cleavers, shovels, taco night gases, and sharp sticks.
If it's not any of them it's the dang Aim Dressing doing me extra dirty.

I'd call it underestimating if it was just from the early days of the game. The fact that they regularly, to this day, overlook extreme problems from either swf comms or synergies on either side makes it feel like they're never going to understand that lesson. The PTBs feel like they know people are going to break their own mechanics, and they're just deciding how bad they think it can get based on that sample size.
Its baffling that CoH went live with boons being able to affect multiple floors, while letting people heal fast enough to keep trading bodyblocks to extend chases then heal the moment the killer picked a target. That was after it was so bad that survivors could create a group hug and pick each other up faster than the killer could down them purely based on blade wipes and their healing bonus could stack with overlapping auras. They addressed the absolutely horrendous oversights and use that action as excuse to ignore the rest like travel distance, vertical effective range, lack of a permanent basekit response, giving perk-tier functions to other survivors, etc.
Their oversights just don't feel like they learn from or understand them, they end up being biased at best, and reactionary at worst.
I also think most of what changes they make are based on the newish players and the average players.
And not those who play the PTB and/or the top skilled 2% or whatever who make it their business to find each and every exploitable nasty combo & tech with each update.
-
They would have had to add this back when the game first came out. Due to the various UEA's with the consoles they can't go back in and add such data trackers for display, or like they said above those stats would have had to already be part of the Achievements or Trophy pages.
This is part of the reason they don't roll out stat pages more often and more in depth, those UEA's prevent it. Even changing any achievement is a long and involved nightmare through the consoles.

I kind of look at it like this. People DC cause they say nurse is broken or OP. She makes certain mechanics in the game useless.
Doesn't swf (with comms) do the same thing? The game was not intended to have outside communication. If a killer runs a perk like knock out its almost useless. The swf cab just say, "I'm down by the killer shack come get me."
I don't see killers DCing when they face swf. Isn't it kind of the same thing? Nurse renders some mechanics mute. Well, swf does as well. At least imo.
They've said several times SWF was always intended, just not ready at launch. If that is accepted as true, I'd say maybe whey underestimated the impact of the voice comms part?

I've had this same thing happen to me many times over the years, no penalty given. And back when I streamed that was not interrupted nor the chat party broken.
Just lost connection for whatever reason. I always thought it was a console thing.

I'm not going to be surprised if they go the route of other big games, issue a sequel, carry everything over, and make it free to play.

Why does the mobile version continue to be superior over the main one in almost every aspect? Did they put all their competent devs on it, while leaving the rest working on the main version?
The mobile game was coded from the ground up by a separate team, not continually updated to the existing coding.
No doubt that team learned and implemented lots of improvements from seeing how the main game ran.

@GannTM said:
I mainly mean low S tier, while Nurse and Blight are high S tier. Spirit without add ons is still the third best killer in the game and does deserve to be a tier above everyone else but a tier below Nurse and Blight.
Short bursting is still effective at a lot of loops and her mobility isn’t super strong basekit but the movement speed in phase gives her a lot of lethality. Sometimes directional audio can make her stronger than before as going one way might give you an idea of what a survivor will do since they know which direction you’re coming from. That buff in prediction makes her more consistent when properly utilized.
On a side note, she doesn’t need Mother-Daughter Ring and Dried Cherry Blossom to do well. The combo doesn’t help learn how to play her and it hurts in the long run more than it helps. She is still very strong, fun, and rewarding without them. For hard of hearing people though, I understand the reasoning. That’s why we should bring back Father’s Glasses.
Here's the growth danger with her and the new BP bloodweb costs, and this will be true for all killers as well:
The purple and pink add-ons are much cheaper now, and despite losing BBQ's bonus it looks like those killers who play large amounts of the game will now be able to run the absolute strongest add-ons in pretty much every match.
It used to be just killers who played an insane amount, but I don't think that will be true after this change. Now most Spirit's will run Ring and such all the time, increasing their reliance on them & stunting their growth imo.

I don’t expect most Survivors will run that build. It takes 3 perks and a good toolbox with add-ons to really take full advantage. People aren’t just gonna stop running Off the Record or exhaustion perks, or Kindred, etc.
And you can always just dodge if you see 3+ toolboxes in a lobby lol.
We need to reel in on the dodging all the dang time, it borks the already iffy matchmaking so many here complain about.
The current matchmaking gets one shot at a fair-ish lobby, and is completely wrecked with the dodging. We're doing it to ourselves.

My guess would be they won't do it with Microsoft without doing it with Sony at the same time. Sony has more of a history of resisting any Cross Progressions.

So why can't we make this happen for all the players just waiting to have all their progress back. I have a lot of progress done with a lot of DLCs bought on my Xbox. Same like a lot of players who have made the switch. Seems kind of greedy to not allow this. Do they expect us to waste more money buying the same things? When can we expect the cross progression?
Last word on this goes something like this:
They know it's wanted, they say they work on it, it's not just up to them, and it may never come.

Is BHVR even updating Switch optimization anymore?
Last I heard they knocked the resolution down and called it a day.
I think that patch removed their ability to record their games as well. No doubt that helps them in that reporting process we all love.
As for updates, I am not sure. I thought the way it works for live online games and consoles is so long as the makers support the console a game dev has to as well, something like that.
I am no expert at all, and am unsure if that's the case, nor how far that support works as hardware ages. I do think the bottom line is no one anywhere dreamed they would have had to support the last gen machines anywhere near this long.

None of those perks help even in the slightest. Boil over is so easy to counter its laughable, Flip flop only does something if you are playing against a killer that is slugging, and break out only works if you are willing to down yourself by getting hit twice to help someone get off the killers shoulder. Maybe try all these perks out before suggesting that they are useful in anyway.
Dealing with Boil Over is quite a problem on console, it too janked & unresponsive to sway with effectively. Even worse on indoor maps or otherwise in tight spaces.

How would you prevent sweat lords in either role from dipping into the casuals and curbstomping?
What about SWF? If they're locked into ranked-only they'll never get a match as all killers (sweats, newbies, and everything in between) just go after the solos?

I’m new and on Xbox one . I read somewhere on here about how with the previous Resident Evil chapter the game was having major problems (with lag, FPS dropping, hit reg etc for console) was that true ? And if so was that for everyone regardless of what killers they used ?
The RE Chapter hit game performance on the consoles very hard, especially the older machines me and you use, but even most PCs too. The patches afterwards helped us back from the brink, but I'd say it has never completely recovered.
Most of the familiar frame drop triggers remain, and yes Nemmy himself still causes a few problems as well. It is not unplayable by any means, but considering "goals" set over the years, feels very much like unmet potential. Sadly.

Love how the very first thing Otz always lists is "oh yeah, PC version of the game."
He didn't mention why this time, but last killer tier list he quickly ticked off a few of the reasons...
Pig's placement shows her cumulative tiny boosts helping out. Please don't nerf her for me just saying that though...

Yeah now SWF can sit and gen rush and give themselves 30+ extra seconds to rescue the guy when they wait until the last seconds to rescue him to crank gens. You can't force a 2nd hook state now. Very fair and balanced
To play devil's advocate here a little bit, what if a goal of introducing this perk was to combat forcing a second state?
Remember they make changes with all player levels in mind, and focus less on the best players who may need to force a second hook state to aid in getting someone out faster, which irritates the less skilled survs to no end leading to more suicides/dc's.
-
I agree it should be hidden pretrial, but dodging is not the answer it's never the answer.
The current matchmaking gets only one fair-ish shot and that gets destroyed with the dodging. We ######### about the matchmaking quality but we're often doing it to ourselves.

The complaints over AA are hilariously overblown paranoia.
It has a 20m range. If you are still inside the 20m when the killer stops carrying, there's 2s of extra aura-reading. READ. As in, if you are not in the 20m, there is no lingering aura read.
Nurse fatigue is 3.5s after two blinks into a hit (the standard). Picking up takes 3s. Guess what you can do in that time? Run 26m. You could literally start close enough to physically hug the Nurse, and you would be out of the 20m before the pick up animation even finishes.
Amazing. Wow, so busted.
I can see Distressing and an offering for Midwich thrown in too being difficult to deal with...

I'm not saying DBD is amazingly optimized. It's not. I will play devil's advocate though. That's just the natural progression eventually. Consoles especially become outdated. PS4 was released almost 10 years ago. Companies can't support/build for older systems forever.
I remember playing DC Universe Online. I was on PS3 at the time. They started to add features and upgrade for the future. Since PS4 was out for maybe 2 or 3 years ago that point. They added maps/raids that the PS3 could barely handle. They eventually stopped support for the PS3 all together. It was what it was. That's just how consoles progress. Your older system will be outdated way quicker then PC.
I expect my Xbox1 to suffer, but when problems begin and then worsen on the new gen ones too it is quite worrying.
-
If they did this the queue times for Blight and Nurse players would skyrocket, with MMR thrown out the window trying to get them a lobby. Prolly also for a couple of other killers found to be "unfun" or "boring" or "unfair" or whatever flimsy excuse. Would be abused into oblivion.
Nope nope nope
