Why console players don't have chat after game, we are same we both crossplay,if PC can have it,why not consoles?

I'm not sure anyone will stick around for 14 minutes while I slowly painfully type out something with my controller 🎮

  • I am approaching 2k hours and am an alright surv, but a terrible killer.

    Nope nope nope.

If the current MMR was actually given a decent chance to do it's thing it would prolly be ok. We likely need some combination of the old emblems and a stricter MMR but since the community loudly proclaimed it favors queue times over quality, well, here we are.

  • If SWF were shown in the lobby those teams would be dodged into oblivion and likely never get a match again. With half of all survs (last stats from 2019, likely much higher now with solo queue being so dreadful) in at least a two-man group queue times would soar across the board to unbelievable levels.

This could only wreak queues and multiply the awful problem that lobby dodging already is.

    We need a different solution.

  • Those aren't deadzones, at least not yet. More like bad life decisions

At this point just block all the gens for the whole match. That’ll be balanced.

Replace all gens with coffins, with survs already in random ones. All the killer has to do is go around and close them. Confetti pops with each lid closing. Last lid you hear the nails driven in and the Entity/Nea chuckling in the distance.

Ah yes, the classic skill issue response because you can't actually prove anything.

    Alright, fine.

I've played in scrim nights. I've been in the DBD Community Cups and I've had the opportunity to play against Team Misery. I seek out competition because, unlike some other people, I enjoy difficult matches. I enjoy learning and playing against strong Survivors because most everyone I play against is not even close to a challenge. @JPLongstreet was watching my stream the other night and can attest to the fact that pubs are not doing it for me. There wasn't a single Killer game where the Survivors did ANYTHING to challenge me or make me try.

If we could trade lobbies for a week, that'd be cool, but I suspect nothing would change for either of us. You'd still have trouble due to lack of macro and I'd still not find my challenge.

Not understanding WHY old DH was better than MFT is excusable. Doubling down when people explain it, not so much.

Yes in all of your matches I saw both your teammates and your prey were the drizzlin shytts. I watched for like ninety minutes or so.

Your fellow survs didn't know when to save, were mindlessly following around the killer &/or a carried surv, couldn't loop for even 20 seconds, a couple suicided on first hook, and they also completely forgot the main objective were those generator thingys.

When playing killer those survs were guilty of all of those sins above too, plus fell for the most basic of mind games repeatedly, and tried really really hard to run straight into you. Even less of a challenge to you than those spuddlings that brought you & your teammates down.

Players seem to just be generally bad at the game imo. Those who do get hard sweaty trials remember & gripe about those matches, forgetting about the six or seven others that day that were absolutely lopsided one way or the other.

Those of you genuinely at that mythical high MMR area enjoy destroying yours and your opponent's mental health in this game. This ain't balanced with y'all in mind.

Being blind isn't really a big deal with a semi decent headset, just listen carefully and walk through the blind to continue the chase.

This. Keep moving after the break, and listen for where to go.

Being locked in animation, like breaking a pallet, picking up a surv, vaulting, etc. is the best time to try using a flashlight. Especially those of us using a controller.

No different than a surv vaulting is the best time to throw a hatchet for Huntress or get a few knives in with Trickster.

  • We all develop a love hate hate relationship with this game. It's strangely addictive, no matter which role you favor.

Pretty sure Hoarder proc's if the box is picked up by a survivor.

Then they should get reported and banned for a couple of days. It will be faster to try to end the match with a sacrifice or a escape than going AFK (which already happen). I really don't see a reason to defend survivors being able to kill themselves on the hooks, as it destroy 4 other players match.

If you queue as survivor you should be ready to face any type of killer, not only the ones you want.

Would the opposite of that true?

"If you queue as a killer you should be ready to face any type of survs, not the ones you want.".

The biggest problem seems to be the matchmaking. All the blasted dodging is what wreaks the matchmaking the most.

This is very difficult to talk about without naming the individual, I'm discovering.

It's possible some people do this, but I know for a fact most of the highest streaks do not involve MMR resets at all.

Also, I'm decently sure I could get 100 wins in a row with Wraith. I did 35 earlier this month and @JPLongstreet watched some of those games and commented on the...lack of good Survivors. (Also, sorry to tag you into this mess)

The fact of the matter is, to me, that most players who play DBD aren't good. If you apply any macro gameplay at all, most teams will lose outright. To me, if you take a good player and give them a Killer they've truly mastered and then use DBD's MMR, it's not surprising that they can go on these streaks.

It also, conversely, explains why Survivor streaks are so difficult.

It is sadly true. I saw those useless bags of pixels let you down repeatedly, and said so. And the killer rounds those survs were poopskittles too.

You're an excellent killer, but I'd say an average surv. You have good game sense (from being a good killer) and not a terrible looper. But no one could carry those spuddlings. Y'all were doomed, in like three straight matches I saw.

I have no problem being called in as a witness for ya fam.

A remedy for that is to have people who lobby dodge to be put into increasing lower queue priority.

Though I'm starting to think I have a rather authoritarian approach to community management... xD

A less aggressive approach would be to have sharing your load out as being optional, so players don't HAVE to share their perks, but they can if they want to try and synergise with their team more.

In one of the more recent surveys they asked the community whether they are in favor of quality matchmaking or of faster queue times. The overwhelming response was for the faster queue times.

Just like with all the dodging, we are willingly inflicting these wounds on ourselves.

  • @Seraphor said:

Not in the lobby, but in game.

Just as you can hit options to see things like player ping etc. You could see survivor perks in that screen. This wouldn't have any negative effects like lobby dodging.

This would work. I'd like to see that tested.

We could also not have lobbies at all, just load into the trial directly. No lobby shopping means their MMR system would have its best shot at fair-ish matchmaking. That would also prevent the last second surv swapping bs too.

The only solid argument I can see for showing loadouts in the lobby is for trying to synergize builds, something comms already can make happen. But I do see the likely risk of even more dodging.

  • @G_Hunters said:

Just stand on them while they are downed and as soon as they wake up hit them again, done.

They will eventually abandon the high grounds to do some gens or end up the game on the floor while you practice the attack button ahahahah.

The real problem here,at least in my opinion,is related to the map offerings,I even said it in the past, these should not be a thing in an asymmetrical game like dbd, they ruin the random aspect of the game and let players take full usage of their perks in a controlled environment.

The only defense of Map Offerings I can get behind is that they're necessary for certain killer builds. Imagine a Shytt-Yourself Myers trying that build in the corn, or on Red Forrest!

They are absolutely not necessary for Survs to play well on. Even Balanced Landing builds are very rare these days. That said if one role cannot use those offerings then they all should go. I've also seen around here the idea of making them lessen the chance of maps, but I don't really like that one either.

There’s controller support for pc, So why not keyboard support for console? There’s more movement options for keyboard rather than on a analogue joystick.

Been asked for many many times over the years. The latest word on it from one of the recent Q&A's was saying again they have no plans to add it. Their reasons were it would take way too long, use up way too much resources, and require a UI overhaul as well. So I doubt very much it'll ever happen.

There is an adapter available for the PlayStations at around $240 USD, but sadly it doesn't work for Xbox.

There is an adapter available for the PlayStations at around $240 USD, but sadly it doesn't work for Xbox.

  • Should not be possible to mori anyone while healthy, nor who haven't been hooked at all really. The locker play is the only true & reliable counter to that add-on, necessary so long as that add-on exists.

If the sole problem is with the (albeit stupidly difficult) achievement, then they should change the achievement. That presents its own problems though, as changing it for PC is easy af but for the consoles they resist changing achievements/trophies like all hell, needing a ton of notice and a darn good reason (to them) for doing so to even consider it.

  • The harshest thing to me with Trickster is the inconsistent and unpredictable recoil that makes it impossible to stay on target.

It's already insanely rough to aim with a controller in this game to begin with. But when you add in his awful recoil, input lag trying to compensate for both aiming and that recoil, and unstable framerate too he is actually unplayable.

  • The camera turning with the controller sticks is slow, even at max sensitivity, and never feels natural compared to your movement speed. The dead zones with those sticks make it even worse, in both roles.

If I'm not careful when playing killer I won't notice survs following me around at all. I've seen comments about that very thing when survs speak about versing "console killers".

  • Agitation and/or Iron Grasp deal with this problem nicely, and are useful to get to the hook you want not just one nearby. Very good for Scourge plays.

As for them breaking, yes it's always been in the game, even when broken hooks stayed broken. The reasoning is akin to survs three-genning themselves, hooks too are a resource to be managed as well.

So the killer, on top of remembering much else, has to be aware they can create a hook-deadzone whenever they toss a surv on one. I can see the argument for it being an outdated mechanic with hooks respawning twice a minute and sabo being rare, but I get their intention.

Midwich is a map that rewards chaining tiles with one another, if you know the general layout of the map, you can usually have a rather decent chase. That being said, I forgot that it can be rather difficult to find gens on Midwich, which is another thing that the devs should probably look at improving.

When a surv pops a gen that they worked on at least 70% on (alone) they see the aura of the closest two gens to them that do not have at least half progress. And when the killer hooks a surv for the first time they see the aura of the gen with the most progress (say at least half way repaired) and it explodes and regresses.

I don't think either effect should be perks either, just gameplay.

  • Instead of a BP incentive how about a Haste effect during each unique surv chase for the next two hours? Or highlight one lesser-played killer per day with both BP and power bumps? Like Hag or Trapper on Thursday gets 10% faster trap placing, or Haste for 15 seconds after each unique hooking?

I'm only half kidding with these ideas. The best approach is what @bbqBilly suggests, tinker with all the unfun/underperforming killers and make them good.

  • @Murgleïs said:

It’s a strat (knock out + slugging). Also, not hooking you at the end prevents 4% attempts.

Well, as someone who works in the console gaming industry, its a little more tricky to get things like test builds out on console platforms.

Usually there is no native mechanism for a "test build" perce', you kinda have yo work within the platform limitations.

You may have to bundle it in with the main game package, or upload it as an entirely seperate package but discounted fully to players who own the base game. This can be a bit of a faff yo say the least.

Typical consoles have also have stricter TRCs (Technical Requirements Checklist) to follow than PC, so it's a little more effort to actually get a test build on the store.

It's not impossible, I seem to recall PUBG has a test build on PS4/5, and I assume it does on Xbox too, but the player base would have be large enough and provide substantial enough feedback for it to be worthwhile... so it's not impossible... but I wouldn't hold your breath either 😉

On Xbox both DayZ and Minecraft have "experimental" game downloads that are separate, and I'm sure there's others too. I haven't run either so I can't speak to ther effectiveness but they exist, and lots of people certainly play those games.

    @XxFallingDownxX said:

When I play DBD I play on console, and I think it's incredibly frustrating that there hasn't been any new features to try out on console. Being able to test out the new wiggle progression was the only thing thus far that was a feature available for console users to test, and I think it's really a letdown that on console there aren't more opportunities to get involved with testing. I get that it might not be possible to have an entirely separate test build for PS5, Xbox, etc. but if there could even be some small features to try from the PTB or more changes to pilot that would really make a difference.

While I watch every PTB video and update online I want to be able to experience the PTB for myself to help influence changes and make a difference for the game. I'm new to the forums so if there's been a discussion about this already let me know so I can contribute.

I seem to remember one of the biggest hurdles to getting a PTB was the console verification systems.

When DBD was only on Steam they could pump out a dozen hotfixes a day if they wanted to. But each and every game update for console has to be run & approved by Microsoft and by Sony and by Nintendo. Since the PTB version is another "copy" of the game entirely with the proposed changes (and no MMR) it would be treated as a separate game to be separately tested by those manufacturers.

This takes like 4-7 days apparently for all three to give approvals, and the PTB only runs about 2-3 days or so now. For example Trickster's chapter was delayed a week because one of them took longer to approve it.

heres of list of things you can do for yourself:

    - drink some water

    - catch up on any snacks or meals you might have missed

    - take any medication you need

    - take a walk

    - pet a dog

    - talk to a friend

You mean the highly-divisive feedback that's not at all unanimous? That feedback?

You know us so well! 😜

  • The usual response to the slug #3 to hunt for #4 is because of how the hatch works these days, and of course the desire for killing everyone.

I do like the idea of bleeding out at like a minute or 1.5 minutes in that senario.

  • They seem to be moving DBD towards slowing the game down from direct efforts of the killer, primarily through chase, and not passively with perks.

Like with the changes to healing, you have to land hits to get the benefit of taking survs off of gens to even attempt to heal. Prolly why Sloppy is even more popular now, it doubles down on the healing changes.

  • The biggest buff they could give Trickster is dealing with the random & inconsistent recoil when using a controller. It's already rough trying to aim with any killer in DBD on a pad, but impossible with Trickster. It's why no one on console runs him, no one.

We joke about something being "unplayable" but with a controller he is.

Im a killer main, and yes, the game does become killer sided when a survivor disconnects.

But come on dude, i dont want to fight 2 bots and get hit with a DC penalty after the last human survivor remaining kills himself on hook.

I dont want the stupid bloodpoints, the EXP or anything. I want to PvP. If i wanted a PvE game, I'd play custom.

I think when a survivor becomes a bot, the killer should not have a DC penalty anymore. I dont want to fight a stupid computer just because some jackass decided to leave the game.

There are so many reasons why players DC, and yes a good many of those reasons are bad. However, currently many of the servers are crapping out and forcibly tossing people. And to be fair this game has always been not too stable to begin with, especially on console.

In my own experience I've manually left a game like three times or so in approaching 2k hours. But dozens of not hundreds of times I've been disconnected by lagging out, game freezing, losing the host, or a rat farting in a corner of the map. It really doesn't take much with this coding. Unless you're super duper lucky or are on the absolute strongest of gaming PC's you're experienced this for yourself. Probably far too often.

The bots aren't the best solution, but are better than what we've had for 7 years now. I do like the idea of the trial ending when all human survs are gone as well.

    Hello everyone

I am writing this to show my dissatisfaction with what I think is the poor optimization of the game. I think I have a decent laptop so I can play Dead by Daylight on max graphics at a constant 60 FPS, but the problem is that I don't, even when I play on the lowest graphics the FPS drops out of nowhere for a couple of seconds and then goes back to normal (60 FPS), this happens every single match. I feel like this didn't happen to me before, but it's been happening to me for months now and it's already very annoying, since in other games it doesn't happen to me, even in games that demand more requirements than Dead by Daylight. I have re-installed the game multiple times, I have my drivers updated and Windows updated as well. Any solutions or reasons for this FPS problem? I play on Epic Games by the way.

    These are my laptop specifications:

    • 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11400H
    • 16 GBytes RAM DDR4 Dual Channel
    • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6 GBytes
    • 512 GBytes SSD

Those of us on console have been wondering these things for years now. A lot of devs outsource optimization to specialists when they port their games to other platforms, but for DBD they kept it inhouse and have been doing it themselves.

Due to how this game was coded it is super duper heavy on using resources, especially compared to other games that are much more demanding graphically etc.
