yea. he was the reason i found dbd in the first place. hope bhvr can give him some love instead of constant nerfs and neglection.

As someone who loves high sensitivity on a big portion of games, I suggest higher sensitivity options for survivor and killer for console players, and also to help balance the sensitivity advantages pc gamers may have in game.

I'd like to see more sensitivity options as well. Some basic controller settings would be awesome too. Swinging around the camera has always felt sluggish and an unnatural movement. Throw in M&K support too for those who would prefer to go that route.

Kinda crazy there's full CrossPlay with none of those options available in a game where the disparity between the input devices is ginourmous for so many killers.

It would be actually a good QOL if we could see statistics of every Killer/Survivor. Playrate and killrate at least. Most of the games have it already.

Anyways, I switch between Killers pretty often but it is always fun to come back to Nurse for a game or two.

Other fun Killers are Nemesis, Dredge and recently Bubba (with Light Chassis add-on and Infectious Fright perk)

Agreed. I'd be very interested in a breakdown by platform too, see the kills & pick rates for the killers that way.

Idk what your talking abt then. I get over 60fps on xbox lol.

I'd get frames down into the teens in the middle room of Lery's on my Xbox1x, and although it does run way better on my Series X the micro freezes and known fps drop triggers are creeping back in.

I desperately want more indoor maps.

Compared to outdoor maps, we don't have nearly enough of them and they're the kind of variety that i need when it comes to maps.

My issues with the indoor maps are I can't find gens, I can't find survs, I can't find rooms, I can't find my own arse. In either role.

Visually they all are stunning, but gameplay wise...

  • @Smoe said:

It's obviously gonna be the Nostromo if we get a map.

Just because a perk is used a lot doesn't mean it should be nerfed.

WOO is fine how it is. It's a beginner perk to help survivors learn maps. Plus survivors can loop good either way once they learn the maps. And if you don't learn how to counter/mindgame loops, then you're gonna be looped around the whole map. There are also plenty of perks that can counter looping/WOO.

This is a good assessment. It is useful for new players still learning maps, and useful for more knowledgeable players to know which resources have been used or not, especially solos. It doesn't give comms any real benefit either.

Perk is fine the way it is imo.

  • @catslayer said:

what if we could "try out" killers for free? i think that'd be REALLY useful to decide what killer you should go for. but in order to do that, i think it'd be really simple & fair: making them "available" in custom mode but with bot survivors, of course. because if they'd be your friends in a custom match then it'd be unfair to the creators themselves since majority of players would play like that, basically "for free" without spending any money. but if against simple bots, i think it wouldn't be too much of a problem trying out a certain killer.

i mean, why should i spend 9k shards for a killer just for there to be like 90% chance that i'll regret it afterwards? i think everyone needs just a bit of experience with that killer before buying him. i had the exact same experience: looked at spirit gameplays, thought she'd be pretty "fun" to play as, so i bought her. and then guess what, she isn't. not just too hard to play as but also boring in my opinion, since i was just a new player then and didn't realize that i'm more of a stealth person and not a "guessing"/lucky one. even now i don't enjoy her so i never use her.

basically, all my shards had went to waste. it's all fun and games looking at others' gameplays until you actually play that killer just to realize that it was a mistake to spend the money(real or game-currency) that you worked so hard for just to afford a killer that you'll never use anyways

opinions? should this be a feature or not? because a really similar game to DBD called "identity v" has this feature and i can't tell you how much it has helped me decide between my mains.

Years back there was an offering to run killers you didn't have. You were in live matches & had no perks for the trial, but it was something at least.

  • My ol' venerable Xbox1x could run RD2 and No Man's Sky and other way more demanding games with few problems.

It's just DBD's coding it can't digest very well.

This I am aware of but @Pulsar seems to think that would change with console only queue which is just a queue with crossplay turned off.

With CrossPlay off we'd only get matched with other players on our own particular platform who also have CrossPlay switched off.

So if I'm on Xbox1 and turn it off, I'll I only be matched with those on Xbox1 who have it off as well. None with Series X/S or any PlayStations or Switch, or Windows or Epic or Steam, plus none of those on Xbox1 with it turned on.

It seems this is not general knowledge apparently.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Let's start by getting that 60fps as promised in, what, 2018? And then we can go from there.

Sadly they already stsyed the various reasons they could not deliver that for the PS4 and Xbox1 machines. Dunno about Switch

  • It seems every aspect of the new player experience needs overhauling by now.

Be it Shard generation, the sheer number of perks, learning all 30+ killer powers, hundreds of add-ons, miles and miles of tome challenges, etc.

Looking back on it all it looks very daunting indeed.

  • @Pulsar said:

Didnโ€™t they put out stats on this last year (2022)? Like in October?

About the playerbase breakdown? Who's in SWF or solo? Dud I miss that?

I thought that one was about escape rates and usages.

  • The game used to have Moonlight offerings, which effected the lighting of the maps (no daytime maps back then). These were removed to give them much better control over how the map's brightness worked and looked overall.

Things like fog and grass thickness were scaled way back because of the game performance issues they caused, especially on the consoles.

Prolly have to wait for a DBD2 and maybe an upgrade to UE5 as well.

  • @Uxoxe said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3499367#Comment_3499367

The game is balanced around Killer vs SWF.

The game is not balanced for solo-queue survivor, where most casual survivors exist. Also, where most of the player base exists.

The last time they put out stats about this back in 2019 half of all survs were in at least a two-man SWF, with trios and quads far far less common.

With Solo Queue just so delightful since then, I'd imagine the numbers in SWF must have risen. We could really use updated stats though.

More specifically, Commodious, this toolbox has an excessive amount of charges, made worse by Wire Spool which for whatever reason is still a yellow addon.

We can also add "Built to Last" which further increases the uses out of the toolbox, which goes without mentioning other gen related perks to boost repairs.

Then we can also add "Brand New Part", yeah it got reworked recently, but it needs another change that should have gotten long ago, destroy the toolbox, same way the Syringe does for Medkits, being able to apply a permanent 10% progression while keeping the strong toolbox which once again, can even be refilled with BTL and last forever with Wire Spool (i even forgot Streetwise that makes this even worse) is too much.

If you are dissatisfied with the boxes now, look up what they did three or so years ago...

He feels terrible to play in Lery's, Disturbed Ward and Garden of Joy.

I think Soma Family Photo should be his basekit.

Gideon isn't much better. There's a few spots to pod upstairs but downstairs nope nope nope.

He's just slow and awkward to use with a controller, and aiming as always is a nightmare.

  • From what I've seen that perk combo is indeed rarely pulled off, requiring a dedicated build and spot-on coordination. The vast majority of players can't reliably pull it off, and it seems to only really be a problem during EGC too.

I've always held if there's three or more survs still alive when the gens are done I should expect teamwork to try and get everyone out, like the conga line bodyblocking or exit gate heal tech. This feels like those methods, with very limited counterplay that will work. Doesn't mean it's OP.

  • @catslayer said:

what if we had "quick messages"? there'd be just a single button for it. for example, when a survivor team is in a match, they can simply send each other "messages" that already exist, but they'd be useful, such as "focus on repairing", "keep repairing, i'm going for the save!", "help me!", "the killer is nearby!", "my repairing progress is at x%", etc etc.

this would be very useful for the players who aren't swf/are soloq such as myself. i'll be honest, i took this idea from a really similar game to dbd which is called "identity v", and as someone who plays it, i'd say it really is useful. this wouldn't be "unfair" to the killers or anything, it's just for the better info. even better when dbd doesn't have voice-chat, so we'd be able to communicate like that.

I've seen this idea tossed around here before, and I do like it, or maybe some kind of ping system. Anything to help out Solos, or really anyone not on comms.

You might get some pushback from those who believe comms to be the devil ๐Ÿ‘ฟ๐Ÿ˜ˆ and that all SWF should be thrown into an active volcano.

  • @KriszerK said:

Almost every single modern game has dozens of settings in the graphics category, unlike dbd WITCH HAVE 5. Some of them are also so useless, like who even uses auto-adjust.

We should be able to change some specific aspects of the game, like gore, shadows, brightness, etc. without the use of filters.

This might not even be possible due to the spaghetti code, but still, it would be an amazing ideea.

Prolly in a DBD2 down the road, should that happen. Hopefully with an upgrade to UE5 as well. You're most likely correct about the game's coding though.

At least y'all have five options. Us consolers have precious few. I think we're locked in at high graphics.

  • That chat box has always seemed to be more trouble than it's worth, kinda glad those of us on console don't even see it.

Easiest solution is to get rid of it altogether. Most of the playerbase can't use it in the first place, just a holdover from when the game was only on Steam.

And it would be one less thing they'd have to monitor and moderate, saving them what they call "bandwidth" in the process.

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

Hell no, it's an essential part of chases

    This sums it up nicely

  • While the DC penalties are still in place, and they do seem intent on keeping them, I'm not certain anything can be done.

There's also the part of lots of parks, add-ons, and challenges they'd have to change. That alone is more work than players realize. There's also the minor part of dedicated builds and playstyles around it.

So that's a yes. You want super sweaty matches. That's what that looks like.

In theory the sweats should go up against the sweats. Dunno how fun that'd be though, and how quickly people would get burnt out doing that repeatedly.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3497331#Comment_3497331

And during the blind tests last year.

Players found that games were too sweaty when matchmaking was too good, as well as having long wait times. Looser matches and quicker queues were the best of both worlds.

As much as you dislike the current matchmaking, it IS the best system we've got.

I do agree it's better than the old rank/emblem system yes.

I'm frustrated with this current system often not being given a decent chance to do it's thing. The new player experience is already rough af without gross mismatches making it worse.

  • @mca240 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3497326#Comment_3497326

The system keeps prioritising waiting time over actual skill. Too many people are also lumped together in the same MMR.

That is also true, and it's because this community voted overwhelmingly for faster queues over quality matchmaking in the recent surveys.

BHVR Please optimize the game, it makes no sense that I can play Call of Duty Modern Warfare without massive frame drops, but when I play Dead By Daylight my CPU usage SPIKES and I go all the way down to 4 to 10 frames. I'm not going to harass or berate over this, just asking that you try to reduce the CPU issues.

Been wanting this from day one. I'd get frames in the teens in the middle room of Lery's on my ol' venerable Xbox1x, the absolute strongest of the prior gen machines.

Even on the Series X there's massive frame drops in the blessed menus, and a lot of the known fps drop triggers are still cropping up for years now.

The more badass of PC's can usually power through it, but not always. The last two big updates have hurt as well. Just imagine what our precious Switch cousins deal with...

  • @mca240 said:

Per titel. I have a couple of 1000 hours in the game. Matchmaking is getting progressively worse in my experience, both as survivor and killer. I am getting matched with newer survivors with maybe a couple of 100 hours in the game, who keep getting massacred. I feel only one out five matches I actually get matched with equals. The outcome is quite different. I sucks not escaping a match simply because your teammates don't know how to loop yet nor do generators. The same goes for killer. I am mostly up against premades. However, I keep running into more and more unexperienced teams. It isn't fun for either side.

Ranked matchmaking wasn't great either but it was better than this mess I feel.

Most likely a combination of not enough players at a similar MMR when you're playing, and the blasted lobby dodging.

  • @Zokenay said:

Cause my teammates have been horrendously bad today

A couple of factors I can think of is many veteran players that returned for the last event & anniversary have left again, and the new surv added can be fun to play around with but no where near efficient played that way. Add in few survs adapting well to the Ring girl updates and there you go.

Too bad they can't bottle up game sense and sell it in the store.

But that Would that mean that the 5 players would be banning 15 maps in each game.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3495560#Comment_3495560

Because survivors are skins? All of them shares same mmr. But this is not case for killers. Your mmr level is different on your killers. For example you can be high mmr Clown but maybe your Pinhead is low mmr.

Over time the MMR of all of your killers levels out. Basically you're slowly dragging up seldom run killers towards your highest MMR killer as you win more, and they don't degrade very fast either.

The intent is to not have a veteran killer get a newish team of survs who would get rolled, because they already know the basics of playing the killer role. I have no idea how much it effects your other killers, or how fast it raises or drops them. Don't think anyone actually does.

  • @Deathstroke said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3495077#Comment_3495077

Yeah I know the guy but to fix that they could do that mmr is priorisited over queque time if you constantly dodge or even limit amount you can dodge.

Sadly during one of the recent surveys the community overwhelmingly voted for the faster queues over quality matchmaking.

I can get behind the idea of dodging being tied to stricter MMR. However it isn't cut and dry. There are tons of bad reasons to leave a lobby, but a few very good reasons to as well.

  • @Lenny197 said:

The hit registration when vaulting are very inaccurate and need to be fix. It has gotten very bad nowadays that you almost always get hit during a window vault.

Looks like latency to me. On the survs side it looks like you've made it over, sometimes even take a step or two, then the hit. But on the killer's side they are right up the survs butt and/or up against the vault and the hit looks legit.

The last couple of updates have made all connections worse for practically everybody, aggravating issues like this even more.

    Ping is king fam.

  • @Gandor said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3495082#Comment_3495082

Reversing map offering to be ban instead of "we are going here" by no means will be OP. If anything, it will be underwhelming.

Also about balance... Let's take RPD - super strong map on most killers. Very easy game. But then you pick huntress and I understand perfectly why you disagree. Maps will always be problem - there's no way to balance maps for survivors AND 32 different killers

Singularity inside Lery's, or Spoopy Myers out in the corn was what came to mind first.

I don't like banning maps (or realms) because offerings for Ormond or Garden etc. would be constantly run by killers to avoid them. Because most killers can have a rough time on them. Because those maps need tweaking, and perhaps some powers do too.

  • @Gandor said:

No lobby would be perfect. No killer dodging, no unfair information asymmetry.

As a compensation to killers, just make map offerings ban certain maps instead of increasing chance

I also would like to see the no-lobby idea tested out.

As for the offerings, it's more of a problem with map balance than the offerings themselves. Banning would be too strong, but maybe lessing the odds could work. Or ditch the offerings completely, although it'll ruin several specific killer builds.

  • @Chordyceps said:

To be honest, I think players should have the option to decide whether or not they want to participate in a match before it starts. Not everyone has the same amount of free time and some people would prefer to not deal with complete BS with the spare time they do have.

I don't agree with their assessment, but I can see the argument that they don't want to participate in matches with Nurses, Blights, Skull Merchants, etc. either.

Because despite playing alone the killer can see and analyze lobbies they have more options with picking and choosing their trials. Survs cannot.

Again I don't necessarily agree with them in this, but I can see that argument too.

  • @Deathstroke said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3494684#Comment_3494684

That certainly still more rare. Happens usually if it's 4 toolboxes or 4 same skins. But every survivor bring items so other than that is not smart to dodge.

The thread got taken down, but someone posted if they see two or more toolboxes they automatically dodge. Among many many other reasons they dodge repeatedly. Like 9 times or more in a row. Just imagine what that does to the matchmaking.

Now given medlits and healing both are nurfed, and keys & flashlights are still poop, survs are going to bring more and more toolboxes as the current best option.

  • I see both sides to this argument. Killers can shop around for a variety of reasons, some worse than others, but so can survs. I would like to see tested the no lobby idea, see how it effects match parity.

Hiding prestiges can go a long way in helping this problem, but likely isn't enough on its own.

Showing survs each other's perks would help solo-queue, however then the one doing a No-Mither challenge will never likely get a lobby either. Prolly overall worth it imo.

Not wishing to play with a particular person for very valid reasons is a tricky one to deal with, especially without a true blocking system that isn't so open to abuse.

Dodging because they see something they don't like, such as cosmetics, TTV, items, prestiges, gut feeling etc. is just so destructive to the matchmaking though. We need a better way.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3494706#Comment_3494706

    So the problem is backfilling.

If you get dodged and don't want to risk a missmatch, dodge yourself, so you get a fresh lobby.

Sadly their MMR system only gets one shot at a fair-ish match, which is wreaked even by one dodge, in either role.

This backfilling problem is in large part due to this community voting loudly it prefers queue times over quality matchmaking. The longer anyone waits the looser the MMR tolerances become, until it just grabs the next available player regardless of MMR.

The horror stories about a brand new killer getting smashed by veteran survs, or the expert killer rolling over extremely low experienced survs, are both rooted in the blasted dodging.

  • @Tsulan said:

The whole Lobby concept is kinda outdated tbh.

You click ready, then wait, then get into a lobby with 4 other players, then click ready and wait again for a minute because someone is busy sorting his socks by color.

Best thing to avoid the whole lobby dodging and lobby shopping issue would be to remove the lobby as a whole. You click ready from your status screen and next thing you see is the loading into match screen. Problem solved.

Removing the lobby completely would also kill off that last-second swapping bs survs can do as well.

  • @Sharby said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3494836#Comment_3494836

That's why I wish I could see the killer's name too tbh, TTVs are the reason I play only on Anon mode because one game someone opened my profile and started making fun of me to their friends, was really weird behavior.

I refuse to play in any lobbies with streamers in it, win or lose I don't want to be someone's content. Too bad on survivor I have no choice and it really bugs me.

Watching the vod of a toxic killer can be fun though since I usually stomp them, but I'd gladly trade it.

I'm on Xbox and we can't even use Anonymous Mode anyway....

  • @GingerBeard said:

This might be an unpopular opinion, but i'm not against removing the lobby entirely if need be. Just queue up in the main menu and when a match is made it takes you straight to the offering screen. Though this would mean no pregame chat for survivors, unless it gets reworked, which hurts solos a little. To be fair however, I never use it and hardly ever see it used.

Losing that chat is no big deal imo. The consoles cannot even see it anyway, and that's the largest portion of the playerbase by far. Plus I'm constantly reading about that chat not being worth it in the first place due to how awful we can be using it.
