I took a break from DBD over the last week or so as I was expecting 2v8 to be phased out and thought it would be wise. I enjoyed 2v8 a lot for it more quick paced nature and streamlined perks etc. I know it’s still active but I decided I’ll go back to 1v4 as there’s only a few days left and everything is just so slow, arduous and monotonous in that mode now. Sure it’s nice to have some of the perks I haven’t used for a bit and see killers other than Huntress, but most matches are 4k wins at 3 gens remaining. I know there needs to be a transition period as it’s a different play style but honestly I think I’ve been ruined by the enjoyment I’ve had with 2v8 and I’m struggling to get back into 1v4 - especially with some of the changes that have happened in the background too. Does anyone else feel the same?

Exactly what I feel like when playing the casual mode. Everything feels so slow and "dead", even at 4 man standing. The 2v8 is just more chaotic in a funny and good way, + all the buffs/boosts that you don't have in the casual. They really should make it a permanent mode, not gonna lie. I mean, we gotta have something else than just 1v4 everytime. And the fact it's now gone, I feel like I'll have to get used to the normal mode again, somehow.

Chaos Shuffle. It brought the second-last DbD match that I actually had fun in before I quit DbD.

I loaded into the match and got Solidarity and Autodidact … hey cool random build, I'm the healer this round!

Except … one of my teammates got No Mither. Well, ok, still two to use my perks on …

Wondered about the weird action icon next to Mikaela. Panned my camera and saw her aura in basement … no, please no … she got Weaving Spiders and chilled two minutes in basement. Afterwards I had two permanently broken teammates vs a huntress throwing fridges around corners, my cool random healing build was pretty useless, and we still had four gens to go … already had a meltdown … and then we got a four man out somehow.

I briefly tried 2 vs 8 during the free weekend (I canceled my PS Plus so I can't play outside of free weekends anymore). It was too chaotic for me and didn't bring any fun or exciting moments to keep up my interest.

2v8 can feel chaotic in an uninteresting way at first, because that's what I felt too. But the more I played matches of it, the more you get used to it and actually find it fun, y'know? This is your last day to try it out before it goes away, so maybe use that chance? I didn't play dbd for like a week, and now I regret for getting back onto it just a few days ago

  • it depends on WHAT you're looking for the game.

if you're talking about meta, stronger perks, more competitive, etc. then pick the S tier ones, there's a lot of tier lists like this, for example; kate and her windows, zarina with off the record, feng with lithe, etc etc. free survivors also have some good perks, actually! (meg with adrenaline although it got nerfed, dwight with bond, jake with iron will)

if you're more into the aesthetic/skin area, then that's highly objective and you gotta find your favorite one! just don't pick someone like feng since you're gonna turn broke in just a week.

and if it's for something entirely different like quieter injured noises, i've heard that ace and ada are fitting in this topic.

personally, i've always mained mikaela for her CoH perk (which got nerfed so i dont use it anymore) and also because i think she has pretty good skins, and like her lore/vibes overall.

perhaps try your favorite licensed character from another game/show? that really worked on me with turning ada into one of my mains because she's my favorite in RE.

    chaos shuffle

Sadly I had quit DBD when that was released, so I haven't even tried it yet. But those challenges with random perks are probably the same, I assume

  • I started IDV way earlier than DBD. First time was like 4 years ago, then quit, then got back again, and the cycle repeats itself. (Although for now, i'm on the "quit" side). Here's my own point of view as an "OG" IDV player.

Characters/lore: Just like you said, IDV has better characters, specifically, survivors. Just like you've mentioned, I love how they all have their own powers/abilities, not just equipping an item like a medkit, toolbox or flashlight. Basically, the survivors have their own talents, just like the killers themselves. That's the main part that makes IDV better in that topic. Not to mention how their backstories or just lore of the game overall are really deep and actually depressing/melancholic, unlike DBD, who's still leaning more onto the "scary" side. Not saying DBD lore is all rainbows and cupcakes, but I just think IDV has more of those dark, nostalgic vibes and atmosphere; the late 19th era makes it all even better.

Modes: Don't forget how IDV also has the 2v8, called "duos hunters" (which basically would be "duos killers" for us DBD players). I think I made a post about how DBD should add this game-mode: to sum it up, it'd be way more interesting to have a new game mode that wouldn't be like a week limited only, but like temporary. Of course, IDV has that weird way of opening those game-modes at specific time of the day/night, but hey, at least you don't have to wait a whole year for that mode to return again. Not to mention, I love how you can buy different carrying items during the match for the current points (bloodpoints) you have; the killers can do so, too. It also has other modes, not just the 2v8; such as the tarot mode, hide and seek, blackjack(cards), or even some racing parkour one. It's just very diverse when it comes to trying out a more-different way of playing than the casual 4v1 one that can get boring pretty fast. Seriously, can DBD make an ACTUAL new game-mode, not just some cheap one that's open for like only a few days?

Graphics: DBD of course. Well, only because it's more realistic. I think IDV has its own unique style and design, but sometimes those textures/quality are just so 3D pixel-y and "cheap", that I wish they'd work on them a bit more. Would be more satisfying to look at, not gonna lie.

There's a lot of better or worse categories you could talk about for hours, but those are the ones that i'm mostly invented in. In a shorter way, here's the fewer ones:

Skins: IDV>DBD (Sometimes IDV skins may be pretty "childish" and not very horror-themed or "serious", but they're just still better at styling and making outfits. Sadly, IDV cares way more about the skins than the game itself at this point, though.)

Lobby: IDV>DBD (I think it's neat how you can walk around the lobby, being able to even style your own house instead of just staring at your standing character next to the campfire. Not like they should change that right away, just saying how IDV has more mechanics and options to certain things.)

The biggest part I hate about IDV is the ms…who doesn't love getting as high as to 999 while in a chase, which eventually results in you losing the match in just 10 seconds? They REALLY should work on this part. The most, even.

  • right, it has worked, thanks. didn't even think of that

  • if talking about liking a killer to go AGAINST, i'd say myers. i think we all know why; his jumpscares actually make the game feel horror-like.

if it's about liking a killer for another random reason, then i'd say huntress because...strong russian lady uwu

Why are y'all so rude all the time? They were literally asking for advice on how to manage those feelings, and if others feel the same. I'll never understand why the solution is to be rude and tell people to stop playing.

finally someone who gets the whole point of my post.

i didn't write that rant for the sarcastic-rude "advice" that 98% of the people here give. i just wanted to have a literal simple talk whether anyone else feels the same way i do, which is feeling nervous, etc. when playing the killer role. nothing else, nothing more.

"just stop playing" "just stop crying over swfs" can you even read properly?

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

You will not really encounter "Bully-SWFs". Nowadays everything is classified as "bullying", even playing the game normally. And people who claim to go against those "Bully-SWFs" on a constant basis are really exaggerating.

You will be fine as Killer. But not every lost game was against a "Bully-SWF".

you're right, that's not what i mean't. but there are still those times, you get the idea? to add, i don't really remember saying something such as, everything is bullying.

  • happy christmas!

  • this sounds pretty dope & got me thinking, would make the whole lore a lot more interesting, and would finally be something new/unusual. but the same thing goes to me, i don't really have any ideas on how that'd work, so let's just give it to the creators

i have a similar idea to this: a survivor version of an existing killer. most of the killers were normal human beings before so i think it'd make sense. i actually took this from a similar game to DBD, where there are killers as survivors but more human-like just like how they were before turning into the killer/monster they are now. for example, they could be named as their REAL names, such as, spirit looking like an average school girl (like it was mentioned in the lore), with her name being rin yamaoka, not the spirit. it'd be interesting to see human/before versions of some killers, although i don't think the devs are gonna make it happen. just an interesting thought

  • that's how i exactly feel the last days. when i get downed at the start of the match, i just get so annoyed that i just "automatically" leave the match/kill myself on the hook and then afterwards i kinda regret it, knowing that i can also get "banned" because of my rage. but if i do good enough at getting chased, then i don't get bored of it and can continue playing it. this is what happens when i play like half of the day, wouldn't recommend. i think it's just the feeling of being burnt out; breaks from DBD or gaming in general helps. even after not playing it for just one day i feel really refreshed & in the mood when i start my first match

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

These costumes can be limited tho. Onesie skins was in shop and then they changed them for limited time. Same goes for old Halloween costumes.

really? that sucks, i don't even get why the "limited" thing exists, especially when the skins are always available and then out of the blue they decide to take them out of the shop for a whole year.

Yes. They do get something from this.

You are the one who said "going forward and back in the same circle isn't really "getting something". to add, they just waste their time even more by doing so"

what are you trying to say?

they can annoy others but that doesn't make them gain anything

  • @Alice_pbg said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3511724#Comment_3511724

if they don't get anything out of it, why are they doing it then?

it does not have to be the gameplay or kills, it could be reaching the 1 hour mark and seeing everyone dieing, it could be the salt in chat, it could be the dcs, they could just really hate the regular gameplay...

they simply MUST be getting something out of it. because otherwise, why would they even bother?

    just ask them yourself.

people who like to annoy others on purpose do exist, especially in DBD

  • @Alice_pbg said:

I assume the answer is easy.

they wouldn't be doing it, if they weren't getting something out of it.

as i said, going forward and back in the same circle isn't really "getting something". to add, they just waste their time even more by doing so. if they played normally, then yes, they'd get something like every other killer.

  • @Pulsar said:

A lot of them do enjoy it, yes.

The Killer attracts a lot of the worst elements from our community, unfortunately.

right, i forgot to mention that if the player is using that skin, then i'll gladly...enjoy the game...no questions asked.

  • if it was for skull merchant only then i'd add this function right away

  • @Alice_pbg said:

how do you know if that's the reason?

because when i play a character that's on high level, this almost never happens. everyone just stays in the lobby.

but when i play someone who's a bit lower than that, people almost everytime leave the second they join.

    coincidence?

i don't see what's so hard to get.

I don't mind strong perks, but I don't like oppressive perks.

It's kinda funny to talk about killer perks when most of them got nerfed tho...

So sure, make it equal and nerf MFT, you can add buckle up on the list.

by nerf mft, you mean how? make it a 0.00000000069% haste? sure, i'm down for it.

3% isn't even THAT much...and if it was made to 2% then basically it'd be the same as not using the perk at all, so i don't really see any changes if they "nerfed" it.

  • when an actual good survivor perk comes to the game people will immediately rant about it being too "op", unfair for the killer, etc... it's literally only 3% haste, what, you expect it to be 0,5% or something? and when you say something about a killer perk being "too strong", you get bashed for it. equal rights, equal skills. i'm tired of almost every useful perk being nerfed to the ground. can we all just play the goddamn game? i do too get mad when an opponent runs a "meta" perk but a game is a game...every post is just complaining about every single perk that exists over & over again.

3,4K hours and have not mastered either side. I still go sometimes down quickly and sometimes loop killer whole game. To master survivor I think you need competive mindset and memorize every map and pathing. Don't use windows of opportunity it just holds you back actually learning the loops and getting good.

WoO is my 1st to go perk...not sure whether i wanna remove it since it really helps in most situations but at the same time i wanna get better in a "fair" way as you said.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

The way I explain it is we all go in and out of potato. I can, in one instance have a great chase and the killer gives up to pressure elsewhere, then get caught completely lacking, run into a wall, just die.

Players never hold onto greatness consistently. In. Out.

But earnestly, I feel I came to grips with this game around 1,000 hours in. I’m at 6,500 today and that does not include my time on Playstation.

i mostly agree; most of the time it depends on "luck" & smallest mistakes. as you said, there are those random unlucky times whenever i bump into a wall while getting chased and get down because of it; literally the smallest decision you make decides whether you'll "win" or not. but of course, at the same time putting time into training helps too.

You don't absolutely need comms, the main reason to get a SWF is primarily to avoid the horrible matchmaking, that alone will already improve your survivor games drastically. Getting even one reliable teammate makes a tremendous difference compared to solo, as there are many situations where the game forces you to have 2 competent people that know what they're supposed to do (without having to be in comms). For example to hook saves in endgame, or bodyblock if one of you is getting tunneled etc. So maybe try inviting people at first without comms, you'll be surprised how much it will improve your games.

As for how to find people to invite, I just tend to add good/altruistic players when I play surv or killer (on Steam), so now I have 10+ people online permanently. I send them in-game invites when I launch the game and usually I have a 2-3 people group. I don't know any of them personally but I usually get good matches.

true; i don't necessarily mean that you have to "communicate" with others for the game to turn out perfect, i mean't as in having at least one player who knows how to play normally. i'll try this method, but it's still a bit awkward adding someone "out of nowhere" after a match for some reason

  • @leon_help said:

chris would be p3 as well, overall he's just a reskin for leon so prestige would transfer as such since its not a different survivor.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

with how lost people get on regular indoor maps... we really don't need an actual labyrinth in the game

    not entirely true.

in lery's, there are neon signs that help you know whether there is a gen in that room or not. and bit by bit, you still get used to that map, don't really see what's so "hard" in it. if you're a new player then yes it may be hard at the start, but you'll never know unless you get used to it/learn. so, the labyrinth one could have "signs" like that too that'd help us orentiate. and maybe it wouldn't even be like a full maze as we imagine one.

just take the tape and destroy this m1 killer, the main problem of sadako is your teammates

but if they do not ignore the power of the killer, then you will easily win

you're not wrong about the teammate part; i'm a soloq player and most of the randoms that i play with always die within the first 3+ minutes; they probably don't even know what a tape is, or they just throw the match right from the start. but, as said, taking the tape most of the time doesn't work since "carrying tapes at the start do work but then she hits you and you immediately lose it; and when you do try to take a new tape, she suddenly teleports right to the tv that you're trying to take a tape from". i wish she at least wouldn't know when & where you're trying to take a tape.
