There should be an option to specifically prevent you from playing against Epic Games Store users.

Thanks to BHVR's genius idea to give away DBD for free on Epic for an entire week, cheaters can use millions of free accounts to ruin other people's matches without suffering any consequences, as banning those accounts is pointless due to the sheer number of them.

I have had many games where the teleporting killer insta-hooked all 4 survivors in the basement or where the survivors completed all gens in 1 minute.

And these blatant cheaters have always been Epic users.

Currently disabling crossplay removes the BP bonuses and stops you from playing against console users, despite the latter being practically unable to cheat.

The least BHVR could do after their colossal mistake is to let us disable crossplay *only against Epic users*, without removing the BP incentive bonus.

Exactly how do you know who's on Epic or not?

I'm on Xbox, so in most matches pretty much everyone appears as a CrossPlay globe to me. I'm assuming you're on Steam, so wouldn't Epic players have that globe as well for you?

The gates always spawn at the same spot on new map. Always on extreme opposite ends, on far left and right sides of the main ship. Killer will have to traverse through the halls of main ship to keep an eye on gates.

Me and a friend did some test runs; it would be impossible for any Killer to patrol (keep eye on) gates and make it in time to stop last surv from opening gate (ie. after closing hatch). Nurse is perhaps the only killer that might make it in time, but it needs to be flawless blinks and with max range addons.

This is not a complaint, just an observation 💋

Blight might make it, prolly not Wesker.

Reminds me of the gates on Hawkins, and a little of Midwich. But depending on the rng of the gates, their spawns on most maps can favor one role or the other, which is about as fair as we can expect.

  • Feels way too clunky with a controller. The slightest leaf or other terrain blocker makes it just too frustrating to pod people consistently or easily. The poor responsiveness of trying to track survs adds to the frustration, and then there's the EMP thing to contend with. Much too much effort to at best get maybe ok results with.

  • I don't even see how they could do this.

Best things to do to help out console killers are add M&K support, provide more controller setting options to help with dead zones in the sticks & input delay, and a thorough & proper optimization.

you can check the profile if they are also on ps4/5. I think... granted, ps4 doesn't show the playtime. but I think the ps5 does.

I don't noticed a drop in quality of my teammates. Also the prestige levels after the game looked like the normal mix.

You can still access the steam profiles and look for hours or rep. But that's up to the person himself if he likes to show his hours and allow comments

    Can't check squat on console

@Jocelynbee That is correct, there is no unhook prompt. I have video of it, but it wouldn't allow me to do link or direct download for some reason. Just gives me a red triangle indicating it isn't attached.

You can upload it to YouTube as unlisted, and link that with your ticket

  • I hope more players do share their feedback about the options the devs are playing around with right now. The more the better.

Just curious. and would maybe like to try a few different configurations.

Personally I'm lazy, so I left almost everything at default.

changed vaults to square, because it being the same button as healing and stuff sucks and square was free.

and changed the new button to triangle. again, it was free.

    what do you guys use?

edit- also, changed the killer pick up and secondary power around. it was awful on dredge before

Sounds like a PlayStation controller, I'm used to my Xbox x and a and b buttons. 😜

For me it's pretty much default. But I had to separate the healing prompt from throwing a pallet, screwed me over so many times in the past.

I'm really sick of playing on Nintendo Switch. What if players were willing to have their accounts transferred using their Cloud ID?

I would be willing to repurchase every DLC, but I just want to keep all my progress.

Is this possible? If not, I think the devs should level with the Switch players. We need to know if you have any plans, at all, to make this a better experience before we purchase more Auric Cells, DLC, etc.

Cross Progression for the Switch was due out last September, but that deal ran into problems apparently beyond the devs' control and fell through. Since then there's been no update.

Usually with the devs if there's nothing new to share we get nuthin, until there's something to say about it.

It's just an error message the client throws if you can't reach the dedicated server for any reason. The dedicated server has no idea why you are no longer connected. The server cannot validate why you left which is why the devs cannot give refunds for addons as it would likely open up exploits with people cutting their internet connections.

The hitboxes for the Flamethrower Sentries are really, really bad.

Half the time you can hit them and they just will not break at all, this is a lot more noticeable on maps with varying terrain and/or maps that have shrubbery that can be used to put the FSentries in.

    https://twitter.com/g0rejira/status/1696668877789200687

Can we get an ETA or at least some sign that this will be fixed? This has been an issue plaguing my Xenomorph games and should 100% be addressed since this feels really bad to deal with.

Have they ever Killswitched a killer a day and a half after release? I'm not saying this deserves it, just asking.

As for a timeframe, since Sony & Nintendo & Microsoft all individually have to review and approve game patches I'd say next Tuesday at the earliest. If it was only Steam they could do a dozen patches in a week if they cared to, but it isn't.

Now this is just me asking that for a couple of days (including the weekend) we all play a bit nicer. After all, we will get a lot of new players due to the Alien chapter and the free weekend. So please don´t try to scare them away by playing in the least fun way.

I know, most people probably won´t read this. But how about we, as a community, try to play without: suiciding, camping, tunneling, BMing and just welcome the new players to our game?

    Can we do this, please?

    I wish.

The new player experience is already pretty rough for DBD. Free weekends and new chapters should be times for us all to be ambassadors for this game, show off some of the funnier aspects and lessen the sweating.

So survs: leave the lunchboxes and teabags home for a week or so.

So killers: leave the tunnels and s'mores behind for a couple of days.

    Have some fun.

  • Not sure they can update to UE5. They'd have to do a recoding from scratch I believe, something they've said they have no plans to do. Maybe the mobile version can? That was fresh coded.

But even if they did, so many of the issues come from having to use a controller and not having any settings with them to work with.

As far as the Switch and PS4 and my ol' venerable Xbox1, this is a live service game; they have to continue supporting them until Nintendo and Sony and Microsoft each end their support. Or the game cannot actually be technically run on them anymore.

Something like half of all consolers are still on the prior gen machines, and the vast majority of the playerbase is on the consoles, especially worldwide.

  • The best things they can do to help out console killers are:

    Add M&K support

Add decent controller settings, including addressing the stick dead zones and input lag

Properly and thoroughly optimize the game's coding

Still not sure is all that would make Trickster actually playable but maybe. Just maybe.

You cannot punish the killer by pitting them against players who can very easily coordinate by simply playing with their friends.

I mean, the devs can, I guess, and that's why things are the way they are...

Oh well. Killers only make up 20% of the game's population anyway.

Oh it has to be more than 20%, as I believe most do play both roles even if they "main" a side they favor.

I do wish all players played both at least to a competent level. It would cut down on the bias's massively, and generate some much needed empathy all around. Plus playing surv makes you a better killer, just as playing killer makes you a better surv.

Would be a decent thing to test. Personally if I'm playing survivor and I see the killer keeps dodging, I'll leave the survivor lobby and requeue as well, even if it takes a bit longer. Any player leaving should reset the lobby, or at least reset the matchmaking system rather than doing away with it entirely.

I don't think it does away with the matchmaking until the lobby has been waiting for too long, then it just grabs someone. But we have no idea how long or really any details about the system. More transparency here would be much appreciated.

You can still make a very educated guess about your mmr just with lobby average playtimes.

A lobby of people where each player has 5k + hours is most likely a high mmr lobby, and the inverse is also true, a lobby of people with 500 hours each is likely low mmr.

    Now onto the data part.

It's blatantly obvious that low mmr data is infact worthless data, self cares high pick rate is due to it being a free perk and a newbie trap, ain't nobody in theie right mind claiming selfcare is busted, yet it's in the top 10 most used.

Nightlight is obviously not a website frequented by casual and lower mmr players, hence the data there will by logic alone consist of mid-high mmr players.

Mid to high mmr data is the only data that matters to determine the balance status of perks since thats the brackets where people know what they are doing.

That's true about Nightlight thingy. I hadn't even heard of it until some posts here mentioned it.

Apparently the players themselves provide their stats into it, and it's only in English so those speaking other languages aren't using it, and I doubt many consolers are either.

The high usage of Self Care primary comes from our asian cousins and their preferred playstyle, which means there's a lot of players in that region to swing it's usage that much.

I’m sure this comes up a lot.

I started playing this game with friends using my switch a while back and have lots of progress/gameplay for all of my favorite survivors and killers. I’ve even put quite a bit of money into the game for DLCs and cosmetics.

Now that I’m planning on getting a PC, I’m really hoping that I’m not going to have to start all over and I’m sure there’s lots of players that might feel the same way or experience this when they play on different platforms. I main Jill Valentine from the Resi DLC, and I can understand how licensing might cause issues for transferring— but I’d even buy the DLC (and all other licensed DLCs) again on PC if it meant that I at least had all of my progress for game OG characters.

    Thanks so much!!

Cross Progression for the Switch was due out last September but that deal fell through and sadly there's been no update since.

Not a viable solution. Remember there's no Cross Progression nor is it coming anytime soon sadly.

So they'd have to go buy that gaming PC strong enough to run this rotini of a game. Then they'd have to rebuy the game, each dlc, any wanted cosmetics, and then the best part: regrind & relevel everyone from scratch and unlock everything again.

Who with thousands of hours and whatever monies already into this game is willing to do all that? I sure won't. Much easier to just add M&K support.

    any already readied-up lobby;

This one is actually fair. It indicates you have been backfilled. So you're avoiding a genuinely unfair match, and you're not creating a new backfill opening, simply shifting it sideways.

And maybe that's fair, but it indicated that lobby was already dodged a few times. This is the primary source of newish killers being thrown to the wolves, and coming on here rightfully complaining. The new player experience is pretty rough without those imbalances thrown in too.

What I'd like to see tested is no lobbies at all, just load straight into a match. See what that does to match quality. And as a bonus, it would eliminate that last second swapping bs survs can do. 😎

The "Seeing swf in lobby would kill DbD because everyone will dodge" is a blatant lie that im surprised people are still using, as other games are here that let you know if you are against a premade group of teams and they are still healthy.

Swap those numbers you have and they are probably much more close to the truth. Out of 100 killers, 93 of them would probably chose to play the game and 7 would dodge. That would be closer to reality.

I've had a convo on here with a killer player who said they dodge 7-10 lobbies each time they queue up in search of "a fair match" to them. Imagine what that does to the matchmaking system, and they stated they cared not what it did to other players.

When asked what they dodge, they rattled off their list:

Any p100; more than one toolbox; any private profile on Steam; any matching cosmetics; any already readied-up lobby; more than one flashlight; every Mickela (boons were still a thing then); every Ace; no CrossPlay survs present; and so on.

So I said, that only leaves guaranteed CrossPlay solos. And they said exactly.

    Lobby shopping

I want people to actually be transparent with what they want.

    1) BHVR said they don't want to balance the game around voice comms

    2) Whenever BHVR talks about bridging the gap between solo q and SWF, they're literally talking about advantages that are from voice comms.

    3) If people want the game to be balanced around voice comms, they should be transparent and literally say they want the game to be balanced around voice comms. Voice comms aren't a basekit part of SWFs, so people shouldn't use the word "SWF" when they really mean "voice comms".

    4) No. I don't think the game should be balanced around voice comms. I think we should get to the "killers can get player experience buffs too" part, as compensation for the survivor HUD , visual terror radius, increased line of sight breakers, and increased forced killer camera yanks.

The real advantage of SWF in my opinion is with the better teams they have quality control over their teammates. It eliminates the randomness the solos get. Skillful use of comms just makes a good team much better.

  • @Alen_Starkly said:

I understand the proposal, but I personally wouldn't want the mid-game lobby to be removed.

    Because:

    • you can get a wholesome or a funny chat with someone :)
    • you can ask people if they have a/the (new) map offering or a mist offering to make things a bit more interesting
    • if you see 2-3 Resident Evil (or Attack on Titan, Silent Hill) characters, you are able to switch to 1 from the same franchise as well, and match them :D
    • you can arrange a 4 (shirtless) Davids match
    • you have time to go to the bathroom (or elsewhere), while you (or your swf) are waiting in queue.

As for your first two points: most of the playerbase is on the consoles and cannot even use that chat box, and sadly they've said several times they have no plans to add it.

Plus it would take me 14 minutes to even type out a single sentence with my controller 🎮!

    Right….

    • communication; strategy regarding plays and gens; calling out where the killer is
    • knowing each other’s perks
    • perk stacking

    yup, just communication…

and what the devs can do about it? Here’s a simple example: people who are in the same party cannot use the same perks and items. Prevents swfs from bringing multiple adrenalines, mft + hope, unbreakables, 4 toolboxes and so on

They've made it very clear they want players to run what they like, whatever builds, in either role.

You're talking about all the crazy tourney restrictions put on players, where the most efficient & competitive are. Those players make up such a tiny portion of the playerbase, and in most respects they aren't balancing the game with them primarily in mind, mainly the middle grouping of players and a thoughtful glance or two at newbies.

If you are in that mythical high MMR area, and do go against super coordinated four-mans every trial (which I doubt) then no this game is not really balanced with that efficiently in mind. They aren't going to restrict builds because of those players, they just aren't.

Behaviour should learn how to balance their game. Premades are ridiculously overpowered. Fix that. Maybe then people would stop caring.

A suspected SWF is just one possible reason why people choose to leave a lobby, and that absolutely wreaks the matchmaking.

There must be a less destructive way.

  • @berrysunglass said:

I apologize, as I'm certain this topic has already been discussed to death. Most of the cross-progression related news I've seen is a few months old, so I figured I might as well ask directly if there've been any updates in regard to Xbox and Steam cross-progression.

The reason I'm itching for it so badly is because I have Demogorgon, Steve, and Nancy on Xbox, but most of my characters are on Steam. I only really started playing DBD this year, and at that point, I had moved on from my old dusty Xbox One and never got a chance to buy Demo on Steam. The Xbox Nightmare Edition of DBD was given to me as a gift long after Demo was removed, and Steam keys are beyond expensive. It's frustrating to constantly switch back and forth between two platforms, with one of them having very little in the way of progress and perks (on top of having performance issues), just to play one of my main killers who I can't buy anywhere else. And because the DLC is on the disc, I fear that the disc will one day stop working and I'll lose my favorite killer forever. Although I doubt Demo would even transfer to Steam if the DLC is on the disc, anyway. Still, I would be more than happy to merge my accounts and, at the very least, have all my characters and cosmetics when I play Xbox.

Performance issues? With DBD on an Xbox1? No wayyyyyyy?!?!😜

Sadly there's no update for this Cross Progression question. They know it's badly wanted, but they and Microsoft & Sony all have to agree on a deal to make it happen. They've always stated they continue to work on it.

  • @rha said:

It's simply not working. It's not even random, it feels like it's been trained to do the exact opposite of what it's supposed to, constantly drawing up matches where the killer stomps the survivors or (rarely) where the survivors stomp the killer. I noticed I'm not the only one complaining here. It's time for you to break the silence and say a few words about it.

I should be at the lowest possible MMR as solo survivor. I have not a single day where I even remotely reach the 40% survival rate promised. It's more like 30% - on a good day. Some recent days (not counting AFK killers or farming games): 1 escape in 10 games, 2 escapes in 14 games. One day even no escape at all. If I'm not bottom 0.000001% MMR wont after all the time MMR is now on your system is broken beyond repair.

And there must be many survivors down there. When I look at my match stats and the overall survival rate of my teammates, then their survival rate is even a few percent below mine, so it's not like I die all the time while everyone else escapes.

Just played with survivor bonus. Which means there are survivors lacking and there are enough killers at my MMR. What do I get? A P50 Blight with top load out who wrecks the group with 3 gens left. How can there be enough killers at my MMR and I get this guy?

Next game still bonus. 4k at 4 gens. Just one bad game, can happen? Next game (still bonus!!!), 4k at 3 gens left again. After that? 4 gens left with heavily slugging nurse. How is this a fun and balanced experience? I could continue this but I'm willing to be on this continuing exactly like this for the rest of the day deep into the night.

It's frustrating. It's draining my energy because I want to keep on playing until I had a good game, and some nights it's 1am and I have to get up at 6am and I just have to switch off to get at least some sleep.

(And since this is another hot topic, exactly this insane amount of bad games is what makes me hook suiciding after 5 or so of these games in a row at the slightest sign of the next one being one of those again - I'm probably not the only one, so fix this and this fixes a lot of hook suicides)

When I win a game, it's the same kind of stomp, just in reverse. The last game I won, the killer got his first hit on a survivor after the gens were done. And one hook total.

You say, yeah, that's probably backfill, the overwhelming number of matches in non-backfill lobbies are perfectly balanced. But if 99% of the games are garbage due to backfill, it doesn't matter if 99% of the non-backfill matches are spot on in balance.

Can we please get something that allows to judge how well the matchmaking system performs? An indicator of how balanced it thought a match was? E.g. for each survivor the relative strength of that survivor compared to the killer?

Finally, there must be some way for solo players to make progress from bottom MMR towards the middle to get reliable teammates, because yes, many games are lost by my teammates which I can't chose. But MMR should choose some appropriate for me. I know the game, I try to approach it strategically, I think about the best next step, I try to predict the killer, I want teammates who play smart, too.

I feel like I'm being dragged down by people who see this as a super casual game, don't mind about escaping, giggle when they grabbed off the gen by a T1 Myers or tombstoned by another one. If I care about escaping, then there must be a way to get away from there to a range where survivors do gens. Or super new. I've just dodged a lobby because there was another player in default clothes who had less than 40 hours!!! This guy probably hasn't even played against all killers yet, I have over 2500 hours and seen it all - how on Earth do you think I'll have fun if you put me in such a game? And don't tell me "hours played isn't everything" - I get it that a 400 hour player might be better than me, I'm absolutely not a great player myself, but not bad either. A 40 hour one? Yeah no.

You ruin not just mine but also my teammates' experience if they just want to super-casually mess around and do silly stuff like unhooking injured right in front of the killer, and they're not even try to win and I ruin their game by suiciding because I want to win but the game is not winnable with them.

In addition to the points you bring up, the blasted lobby shopping is actively wreaking the matchmaking badly.

Their system gets one chance at a fair-ish match, and as soon as someone leaves (surv or the killer) backfilling happens. The longer a lobby waits, the looser the matchmaking gets, and if enough time passes it'll just grab whoever is available regardless of their MMR.

I know, but I was told before that the system knows when someone DCs and when the Servers are at fault. Apparently that's not the case. I just find it weird to say "Server did an oopsie, well just sit it out". It's like saying "Oh you did these crimes before, now you are innocent. But hey, just sit it out"

As far as I know they cannot differentiate between connection issues and players manually leaving, and the DC penalty system treats them all the same.

I certainly have been tossed from a match and not gotten the penalty a few times, but most times I do.

  • Was wondering that as well.

I've had the same single account on Xbox for like since they existed.

  • I've watched Pulsar play as a surv as well as a killer.

Has no special skill as a surv, just good game sense, and their heart is not in that role nor do they seem to find it very fun. However, as a killer quite skilled and very happy to murder them all with glee.

This is the P100 Steve Harrington that I've watched get dodged repeatedly for striking so much fear into those hardened killers out there. Feel free to view some vods yourself.

I saw a Singularity player camp a 3 gen from the start of a match last night. I was ashamed.

You sound offended by that! 😜

I would rather see hook rates than kill rates as they’re flawed for a multitude of reasons but they still would be fun to have nonetheless I agree.

    Maybe separately by MMR too?
